The 1912 Center, operated by Heart of the Arts, Inc., is a community center built in the old 1912 high school. It features a senior drop-in center, a disabled drop-in center and an arts workshop. The Great Room, Pall Plaza, Kitchen, Fiske Room, Arts Workshop and Friendship Hall at the 1912 Center are available to rent on a first come, first served basis. The Great Room can handle sit down events of up to 120 people, lectures of up to 150 people and standing receptions or dances of up to 200 people. The Fiske Room can host 12-30 people in the space and the Arts Workshop can host a party of up to 40 people (great for rehearsal dinners and showers). Friendship Hall has limited availability on evenings and weekends and holds 20 people in an informal setting. Coming in the fall of 2020 two new spaces open on the second floor: the Lecompte Auditorium (which can seat 100 with a small stage) and the Reception Gallery (which can host standing receptions for 100 people or smaller 60 person sit down events).
Mariah Kiepert(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-07-2014 Loved having our wedding and reception here! They provide all the tables, chairs, sound system, plates, silverware, tablecloths, napkins, and use of the kitchen! Jenny was great to work with! Reviewed on 07-08-2014
E'Raina Goesling(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-01-2014 I was excited to utilize the 1912 Center for both my wedding and reception. The Great Room was excellent and had all the chairs and tables we needed. We used the other rooms as getting ready rooms for the bride and groom and all of our wedding party. The room was beautiful and took very little to decorate. We rented linens here, and used the Plate Project for all of our glasses, cutlery, and plates. It was nice to have everything be in one place.\r\rThe only reason this review doesn't have 5 stars across the board from me is because of the service. I left a number of messages and emails that were never returned. The only way to get answers was to physically show up at the 1912 Center. We were told that we could arrive at 12:00 the day before the wedding in order to start setting up. When we arrived, no one had any idea that we would be there. They weren't expecting us until 4. Upon further review, the staff completely misread their own notes. This was stress that I didn't need the day before and that should never have happened. Later, apologies were given to my mom for their mistake.\r\rMy MoH set up my bridal shower here as well. She had a ridiculous amount of problems getting ahold of staff for set up and questions. There was a point where the voicemail box was full and she couldn't leave messages anymore. With better organization in the management office, this place would absolutely get 5 stars across the board. Reviewed on 02-02-2014
Meladi Mottern(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-12-2013 The 1912 Center was surprisingly large, we managed to fit 210 chairs. The 1912 Center had 150 folding chairs and and random assortment of other chairs and we rented 35. For that many people, it felt very intimate and everyone could hear even though we didn't have a mic. The sound was great and it was fairly easy to decorate. I'd recommend the 1912 Center again to anyone. Reviewed on 14-01-2014

E Pierson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-09-2012 We have always loved the 1912 building, watching its renovation over the years, so there was no other choice for us when we started planning for our wedding. We held the reception here and it was wonderful. Jenny, the director, was so helpful in the planning stages, taking time out to go over all the options, offer suggestions and new ideas, and just be a calm, knowledgeable voice when I was starting to get a little overwhelmed. Whatever your event, small to large, fancy or simple, the 1912 Center is perfect! Reviewed on 23-09-2012
Jessica Nelson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-08-2012 The 1912 center is a wonderful venue, the main room, know as the Great Room, lives up to it's name with two staircases on either side, making for a great entrance, and even a balcony above the kitchen (which is available to use for a small fee), which I used to toss my bouquet from and also made for a great spot to take pictures. The price of the room ($60 an hour), includes the use of up to 34 tables, and 120 chairs, and for a small fee they rent all your linens for you! Another bonus to the 1912 center is the Plate Project. With no cost to you, you have access to a large collection of dinnerware, silverware, and glassware. You really get a lot of bang for your buck and the room is beautiful with tall ceilings and all hardwood floors. The central air was a major plus as well, as I had my wedding toward the end of August. I would recommend this venue to all my friends, for their weddings or any other special occasion.
