We recently had our wedding at The Station Room and we are so happy we chose this venue! The venue managers are so helpful and remain onsite the day of to assist with anything that comes up. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. The best part about this venue is it included a DJ, 2 bartenders, tables/chairs, linens, AND a party bus to use for a few hours. The bridal suite is so amazing and since we got married on a Friday, we were able to spend the night prior the wedding... so fun! However, when my bridal party and I returned to the suite after the rehearsal dinner, the cat that is owned by the venue had roamed around the space and was found curled up in my luggage with cat hair various places. Thankfully no one staying that night had a cat allergy but we had to do some extra cleaning before someone with an allergy came the next day. The groom found cat poop in their suite bathroom the next morning before asking the venue to make sure the cat stayed out of the space on our wedding day. For anyone who had an allergy or issue with cats, this all could have been pretty disastrous surprise. Otherwise, a perfect experience! Reviewed on 17-03-2023

This was the absolute best location, best venue for 255 of our guests during our daughter's wedding. Can't thank McKenzie and Taylor enough for all of their guidance! It was perfect! Best choice for us with the bedrooms in the back and the kitchen for family to hang out in before the reception and watch College football in the back rooms and then the reception was just fantastic!! I did extensive research on venues in downtown KC for my wedding, and no one could compete with 28 Event Spaceâs price for everything that is included. A few of the main selling points for me were that our rental included a DJ, party bus, bride/groom getting ready suite, overnight access, use of your own vendors, and the ability to bring your own alcohol. They are the only venue in downtown KC (to my knowledge) to offer all of this, and at an incredibly fair price. In addition to all of this, the venue itself is absolutely stunning. We went with The Station which has an elegant marble backdrop as the centerpiece of the room. Everything is so updated and modern, which is exactly what we were looking for in a venue. The managers Mackenzie and Taylor are also incredibly responsive which is a must for wedding planning. They gave me a number to text with any questions and they almost always responded within ours. We mainly worked with Taylor, and she was so flexible with all of our requests. I canât recommend 28 Event Space enough. Reviewed on 30-09-2022

We had originally booked The Station for our 2020 wedding, which had to be rescheduled (for obvious reasons), and they were so easy to work with during such a stressful season. The floor plan of The Station is INCREDIBLE, and having all of our events in one place was perfection. I love how understated and elegant the venue's decor is- also, the amount of amenities included in the package is unheard of- DJ services, bartending and a party bus? Amazing. They are quick to respond, follow through with promises and are happy to help with changes. 28 event is not your run of the mill event space⌠it offers so much more. 28event is a one stop shop if you need it to be. We choose the plan that included dj, bar, party bus transportation and beautiful areas for guys and gals to get ready in. This event allows you to byob and bring your own catering. Donât let the industrial neighborhood fool you⌠when dressed up the inside becomes very elegant. If you are looking for a venue that offers a lot for a reasonable price visiting 28 event space is a must. Our reception was 24 tables plus a head table of 17 people, we still had plenty of room for a large dance floor.Do your self a favor and go with Icon music, their in house DJ vendor they are amazing also. McKenzie and Taylor were amazing to work with and quickly answered all our questions.We booked the event space with help from our planner, who we later had some issues with, and 28 Event Space did an amazing job helping us find a new planner and stepping in to reassure us that our day would still be perfect!Our guests loved the gorgeous, big space. The surrounding parking was perfect. I had a blast hanging with my friends and getting ready in the huge bridal suite! The bar tenders were also absolutely incredible - fast, friendly, and made great drinks.The space makes it easy for vendors to load up everything thatâs needed, with big garage doors and loading spaces. The lighting is also awesome!The only change I think Iâd make to the space is not staying there overnight after our event. Due to the surrounding area having other event spaces and bars, it was very very loud until about 3:30 am in the couplesâ suite and we didnât sleep really at all.I would 1000% recommend 28 event space! The venue came with tables, chairs, Icon Event Group (ill review them too), Bartenders, Parking attendants, party bus, bridal and groom suite and so much more! During the year between booking and our wedding, there were some changes in staff that made me a little bit nervous. However- Taylor stepped in and did a phenomenal job! We had hired our own planners, and she worked seamlessly with them- including when we ran out of beer quicker than expected! She was extremely responsive through the weekend, and the venue was great. Some of our favorite things about the space were that it held our 215 count guest list comfortably, the bridal suite was huge and an amazing place to get ready before the big day, party bus was included, they have a discount deal with a local DJ company, you can bring your own alcohol to serve at the reception and they don't limit your catering options which both allowed us to save thousands on alcohol and food. One of the downsides is that in the 8 months between booking and having the wedding they went through 3 different venue managers so communication was kind of rocky for some of it, but the venue manager that we ended up working with the days before the wedding was amazing and super helpful. Since there was a lot of turnover we got different answers to all of our questions and it took a lot of reading through the contract to figure out what was right, which was frustrating. However, the positives totally outweigh the negatives and I would definitely book with them again if we had to do it all over! Reviewed on 29-08-2021

Not only is The Station absolutely beautiful, but it was very easy to work with the staff there. The owner, Doug, is very nice, easy to work with, and accommodating. Wedding planning during the COVID pandemic was not easy, but Doug and his team did all that they could to ensure we would still be able to have our dream day. For example - about a month before the wedding, we decided that we wanted to have an outdoor space for guests who didn't feel comfortable mingling inside because of COVID. Doug was very open to this and allowed us to set up tents and use two different outdoor areas at 28 Event Space. Some of the highlights of the venue for us were: the general flexibility of the staff; the DJ, bartenders, and transportation being included in the price; the bride and groom suites; and the ability to provide your own alcohol. The only downside of our experience working with 28 Event Space would be that there was a lot of staff turnover - so much so that every meeting we had was with a different person. They don't flinch at crazy day of requests and changes, and are there to help at the drop of a hat. They include awesome services without being annoyingly 'our way or the highway'. They offer bar staffing but you can bring your own alcohol. We chose 'The Station', and the venue itself is big, classy, and beautiful! The groom and bridal suites are very nice and spacious. They also have very nice kitchen/prep area for the catering staff of your choice. The included party bus is actually super nice, and way better than a limousine. The Station was actually not our original choice in venue, but due to Covid-19, we had to change our venue. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as our family and guests all raved about how much better it was than the original venue and how beautiful it was. The with all the marble and upscale finishes, the space hardly needed any extra decor.We highly recommend booking The Station to anyone looking for an elegant venue with outstanding service and added benefits typically not provided by other venues! I have wavered back and forth between giving this venue a 4 or a 5 star review, but ultimately I settled on a 4 for several reasons. First let me talk about the positives: The venue is beautiful -- the dĂŠcor inside the Station is lovely and with the lights on at night, it is just the mood you want for a wedding. The size of the bridal suite is lovely and it's nice that they have a Groom's suite as well. The venue coordinators are good at allowing you sufficient time to set up and take down your decorations (this is probably my favorite part about this location). I like that they had a package that included their bartenders, transportation options and a DJ from Icon Event Group, those were convenient to not have to worry about on top of booking everything else. My mixed feelings about the venue are the shape/layout of the venue -- it can either work to your advantage and disadvantage. Also, if you have any elderly family that need a lower stimulus environment, the openness of the venue doesn't give them any area to temporarily retreat to -- especially because the upstairs isn't wheelchair accessible. My negative feelings about the venue is that they advertise it can hold up to 200 I believe. I fretted a lot prior to the wedding about it feeling too cramped, but everyone I've spoken with said it felt cozy and inviting (which made me feel so much better). Things to know if you book this venue: A room flip is not feasible at a certain guest count if you opt to have your ceremony and your reception there. There is nowhere for your guests to go if you decide to do this -- particularly if you have tables over near the bar section. I think our actual guest count including wedding party ended up being around 160, less than 170. I think they should tell you ahead of time that they sit 10 people at 60 inch rounds instead of 8 -- which wasn't terrible, but it's something to know -- it cramps the place settings if that is in your design. But aside from the amazing aesthetics, they are so incredibly easy to work with, and are incredibly flexible with meeting your needsâfrom arranging any meetings you want leading up to the day of, to making sure the room is set up exactly how you want for your day. In addition, we utilized the bride's room for getting ready in the morning, and I would highly recommend renting it for the day ofânot only will it make you feel like a princess with the absolutely stunning bathroom en-suite full of 360 degree mirrors and glamorous lighting, but it also made the morning run so smoothly, and allowed us to keep all of our belongings there while we went and had our wedding ceremony off-site, so that we could come back and have all of our belongings there for the reception. Their staff was a dream to work with and was so kind to answer all of my crazy bride questions throughout it all. The day-of was nothing short of perfection. Karly and Maura worked with our coordinator for all of the behind-the-scenes magic and I can honestly say the day went off without a hitch. Can't say enough good things about the space, the staff and the amenities included in the package. They made it all so easy, which is no small feat for soon-to-be brides. It was so easy getting ready for the wedding and absolutely had a blast once the reception started. The space was perfect, It wasn't too big but wasn't too small for the number of guests we had. I could not have been more happy with 28 and their staff! They were so helpful to us in the planning and preparation of the day and answered all of our questions! They did a room flip since we did both the wedding ceremony and reception in the same room and it could not have gone smoother. We chose one of the cheaper packages but they still allowed us to use the back room throughout the evening which was so helpful. The 28 Event staff had bar tenders and parking staff available to help too. I honestly didn't have to worry about a thing the entire night because anytime there was a problem the girls took care of it! When we visited back in July, this was ranked the top in both of our lists. The room is breathtaking! Not only is it big and perfect to accommodate any number of guests (we had 250), but the mural of the skyline is just so different and unique than any other venue! It was fun for our guests and is a great way to remember 28 Event Space! The staff is extremely accommodating. I felt Maura was extremely personable, even calming when I was stress crying (LOL- thank you!). Everything we had talked about and planned was perfect and went smoothly! The tables arrangements and decor looked amazing! We used their suggested DJ package, Icon Event Space. My parents, husband and I are so glad we picked this beautiful spot. Our guests had a blast, as did we! Everyone had such nice things to say! The only complaint we have is it was a little warm in the room before we opened the garage doors. This venue made it so easy on me and my family during the whole planning process, the setup process before the reception, and the actual reception! Our reception was in the Kansas City Room in May and we were able to bring the garage doors up once the sun had gone down after dinner. Everyone LOVED that!! We also got to reveal the mural of Kansas City after dinner which was so cool! We reserved both the bridal suite and the grooms suite that come with the venue. My whole bridal party (6 total girls) were able to come the morning of the reception and get their hair and makeup done at the venue with me! Some of the girls even stayed overnight with me the night before. Time and time again I will recommend this venue. It's 100% worth it's cost. We were also able to reserve a bus to take our wedding party around for pictures before the ceremony and then everyone and their significant others from the ceremony to the reception through 28! It was so convenient! We worked with Karly and then with Maura the day before the reception and they were both so sweet and helpful with all my small requests. The bridal suite was great for all the girls to get ready. A lot of the women in my family were able to get ready with us too! The groom suite is a bit smaller but enough for the guys. We initially met with Karly for the tour but Chey helped with everything else after that. They were easy to get a hold of and answered all my questions in a timely manner. They set us up for an appointment to tour without fully being able to answer if they even had our wedding date available. When I attempted to get ahold of them to double check that we were still on for the tour, nobody would email me back. I called, and nobody answered the phone. It came down to me having to leave a voicemail to the venue an hour before our appointment asking if we were still supposed to drive downtown to meet them. After four days of not hearing from them and leaving them a message the day of the appointment, they didnât even have the decency to call and apologize for missing the appointment THEY scheduled with me. It was a waste of my time as I could have booked other venues that morning who were actually willing to communicate with me as a business should. The Friday wedding allowed us to decorate the venue on Thursday and host our grooms dinner right at the space! Shay made our planning absolutely flawless and we had so much fun planning our big day! Our 230 guests at the wedding canât stop talking about how amazing the wedding was! From the beautiful lights and the garage doors allowing access to the outside patio all night our guests fell in love with the venue as much as we did! Icon kept us dancing all night and the bridal suite and grooms suite are gorgeous! My wedding party was able to eat breakfast together, get ready in the individual suites and our family enjoyed the suites during the reception when the younger guests needed a break from all the dancing! They were always available to answer questions before the event and they were very helpful the day of. I had full trust they would handle anything that popped up the day of the wedding and can't imagine not having such attentive staff to help coordinate that! The space was so beautiful and we received many compliments. It was amazing that we could select our own vendors and the option to bring your own alcohol was such a cost savings (from what I could find, there's only a few places in KC that allow that.) The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and I loved the ambience of the room during our reception. There was little work we had to do decorations-wise because the space itself is already set up so beautifully with the lights, gold backdrops, tables and tablecloths, etc. We decided to rent the groom and bridal suites and I am so glad we did. We each had 8 groomsmen/bridesmaids and the rooms were perfect for getting ready that morning and having time to relax with our bridal party. We also stayed there the night of which was super fun and convenient. There was no event the night before so we were allowed to come in and set up on Friday which helped make everything so much easier for us on the day-of.We worked with Karly throughout our wedding planning process and she was AWESOME. She kept everything very organized and was so easy to communicate and work with. She made everything so smooth for us and definitely helped take a lot of stress out of the wedding planning process. It wasn't too big and made the ceremony intimate. The space at The Station is gorgeous-- the marble wall and white walls were perfect for our minimalist & greenery theme. We loved that the venue provided the tables, linens, bridal/groom suites, transportation, bartenders, and parking attendants! All of the staff was amazing. We did a Friday wedding, and were able to get in on Thursday to decorate that whole day, had our rehearsal dinner, and able to stay the night on Thursday (all included in the package)! Their staff is very friendly and helpful. We really didnât have to worry about anything and everything was so laid back! The other wonderful thing about our package was, my husband and I stayed there as well and didnât have to be completely out until Saturday at 9:00 AM! We were told we HAD to put down a deposit. We were not even firm on a date. My son and his fiancĂŠ picked a date, we gave the check and were reviewing the contract. NEVER returned the contract. Cancelled the Wedding and I have been trying to get my deposit back for 60 days. They have been awful, as if it hasn't been stressful enough. They're flexible (choose your own vendors), easy to communicate with, and they show UP on your wedding day. We had around 130 guests and the place felt full. We were able to schedule one of the shuttles to go back-and-forth between the downtown hotel for pick-up and drop-off at the end of the night and our guests loved it and it kept the party going. Being able to spend the night is a huge benefit and made for an easier clean-up the next day. Clean-up was the hardest part but grab a few family members/wedding party and you can back your car up and load out easily. I cannot thank the staff enough for their part in making my daughtersâ wedding a day to remember. There are several different package choices and we purchased the basic one because we were on a budget. The level of service we received was no different than if we would have committed to the most expensive. The site is close to downtown which was important to us. They didnât have an event scheduled the day before so we were allowed to decorate early, which made the wedding day so much more relaxed and as the mother of the bride, I was able to really enjoy the celebration. I was worried about parking but since the contract includes parking attendants this was not an issue. We did not serve alcohol but the contract includes bartenders. I was worried that the bartenders would be upset about the loss of tip money due to no alcohol, but they served soda, maintained the water and coffee dispensers perfectly and with a great attitude. Christine, our day-of coordinator was excellent as well; making sure everything was ready prior to guest arrival; lighting candles, pouring the toasting drinks, etc. My daughter and her fiancĂŠe live out of state and Maura and her staff allowed us to visit whenever they were in town, they answered phone calls and text messages almost always the same day. The Venue is absolutely beautiful and it came with so much. The bridesmaid suite was so fantastic and the party bus was great as well. There were a few hiccups with some of the staff at the beginning and some miscommunication along the way, but as soon as we met Chey and she was made our Day of Coordinator everything changed! Chey was accommodating, attentive, so great to work with and answered all of our emails and phone calls promptly. She listened to everything we needed during the entire weekend and was so easy to talk to. Although there were extremely stressful times, she always had a game plan and was truly a delight to work with. She went above and beyond which made the day flow so much easier, as she was always one step ahead, making sure we had everything we needed! We had a Day of Coordinator through our catering company and Chey and her worked so well together it made everything so much easier. We had actually originally toured 28 event spaceâs KC room before The Station space had even been built but this is when we learned about it. We were only planning on having 75-100 wedding guests so the KC room was going to be a bit too large for our needs. The Station being a smaller space, was more accommodating to the smaller wedding guest count. Now since we got word of this new event space before it was built, they were not quite accepting deposits for dates at that time. Once we were alerted to put our money down, there were a few hiccups but nothing to really mention now since everything worked out in the end AND you always have to expect with a new event space there are going to be a few things to sort out in the beginning. We didnât really have an assigned main point of contact (as far as I know) leading up to the big day which seemed like maybe a downfall but honestly it was never an issue because any questions we had you could send in through the online portal and get a fairly quick response. I think the majority of the responses came from Karly and she was always extremely helpful. We decided to do the largest package with The Station which included, but not limited to, two overnight suites (takes care of 2 hotel rooms!), linens (even ones in my color theme), tables/chairs, bartenders, parking lot attendants, the limo/party bus for 4hrs-ish, photo booth, car racing game, pool table, day of coordinator... I am sure I am forgetting something- We had to find our own DJ, caterers, photographer and liquor provider but this was nothing considering all that was involved with the venue itself. We had a meeting with Courtney about a month before and she took very detailed notes about our wants and needs for the day of- made us feel very confident for the upcoming big day! Fast forward- wedding day we ended up getting Courtney for our day of coordinator and she was fantastic! The scheduled bartender ended up not being able to come in, so Courtney manned the bar! And if there was anything that went wrong throughout the evening, we had no idea- she really was wonderful. (we had many compliments from our guests as well about her!) I highly recommend this venue space regardless of if you pick the KC room or The Station. We had the best time and would do it all over again if we could! Reviewed on 14-11-2017

However, because they are so popular, they only had Friday availability left. We didnât want a long engagement and after meeting with Karly, we decided on a Friday wedding because of the availability. There are many perks to a Friday wedding at 28 Event Space â the biggest and most helpful was having Thursday access to the venue. The all-inclusive price included Friday night in the lofts, but a Friday wedding included an extra night (Thurs). It kept my mind at ease knowing we had a full day for set-up and to get acquainted with the space. We had our ceremony at a church near by, but a room flip would have been great in the space too. All our vendors had experience working at and with 28 Event Space and there was a sense of familiarity for them when we would go over the details of our day. There was only one snafu and it was that we had a couple of different coordinators in our 9 months. Karly was a constant so that helped, and for our day-of, we worked with Courtney. Courtney was AWESOME to work with. She was new-ish on our wedding day but Karly being there was super helpful and kept me at ease. Courtney has a great energy and enthusiasm about herâŚ.just what we needed nearing the end of our engagement! On the day-of, we spent it getting ready in the suites. It was so helpful literally being in the next room as our vendors. It was great having a front-row seat to seeing the magic happen. Being type-A, it was great to just have my hands in everything! Everything and everyone that was part of 28 Event Space was highly personable, approachable and patient (perfect for brides to deal with!). We used one of the suites during the reception as a âChildâs Suiteâ and had a babysitter come in and watch the young kiddos as their parents had fun on the dance floor. My parents and in-laws were extremely impressed at the ease of having it in that location! So many things I didnât have to tend to because of 28 Event Space: accommodations for the night before/night-of, shuttle services for our guests, party bus for the bridal party, a place to get ready (the vanity is picture-perfect) and so much more. Parking was great for the guests and the space was so open that no matter where anyone sat, they were able to see everything! We used the stage for our cake cutting and it was great to look out into the crowd and see our reception in front of us. 28 Event Space is a one-stop shop for a great wedding. Reviewed on 18-07-2017

While upfront, the cost sounds like a lot, I was able to save so much money because of everything that our package came with and because I was able to use food and beverage vendors from elsewhere. There was ample parking for a city location and the staff was incredible. You get some many extras with 28 Event Space, including security, parking attendants, bar tenders, plenty of restrooms and of course, day of coordination. I LOVED that the venue provided so many decor & set up items and that it was beautifully decorated so I didn't feel like I had to spend a bunch of money on making the place look presentable. They are very organized, kind, and helpful, from the moment we contacted them for a tour Karly and her team set us as ease. You won't be disappointed if you book with 28 Event Space. While it is a beautiful venue with a pretty good location downtown, it is overpriced compared to similar spaces with similar amenities. The reason I felt compelled to write a review is when I contacted the space to request pricing information and to ensure the date I needed was available, Courtney (28 Event Space Coordinator as of May 2017), responded by emailing two prospective customers at the same time and failing to bcc us. The other customer and myself then went through a week of irritating miscommunication before we realized neither of the other was the coordinator (Courtney did not respond to emails within days of receiving them to clear this up). She then did not apologize or even acknowledge that she had made an error. I could have gotten over that initial communication error if when I finally was able to schedule a time to tour the space, Courtney had taken the time to re-confirm that the date I needed was available. Instead, I made a special trip to see the space only to arrive (and wait for her to show up for another 10 minutes), for her to tell me the date I requested wasn't available. Are you kidding me!? How difficult is it to re-confirm a date prior to making a prospective customer waste their time?! In summary, the space is pretty. There are better investments scattered through the city, and beware Courtney's planning abilities. Reviewed on 08-05-2017

Not only does it look amazing on its own, so there isn't need for a huge amount of decoration, the people who work there are incredible! I felt like all my millions of questions as a bride were answered with a friendly response and quickly. hey went above and beyond all my expectations and even ran an important errand for the wedding party the day of when a two year old needed pull-ups! I cannot say enough great things about this venue and if you are lucky to get a date there you will be in great hands and your wedding will be amazing! It was great to bring in our own alcohol and food in, and the bridal suite was great for my husband and I to stay the night! We were even able to use a limo for after the reception to drive around while everyone left. Overall my wedding was picture perfect and a lot was thanks to Courtney and the 28 event space. It is absolutely stunning and really doesn't require a whole lot of decorating because of how incredible the inside space is. Our pictures look amazing with the glowing lights that hang down from the ceiling. So many of my guests came up to me that night saying how much they loved the venue. It has a really cool outdoor space where the non-dancers were able to relax and have fun as well. Sylvia and Karly were a dream team. They answered all my silly questions leading up to the big day and were awesome the day of in making it look incredible. They answered every crazy question I had and smiled through every change I made, even up to the last minute, and made me feel like they were genuinely happy to help. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and needed very little decoration from us because it was already perfect! It was a nice low to mid 80s that day and they opened the garage doors the whole night to help give our wedding the summer night feel that we dreamed of. The only little blip with the venue would have been the photobooth. Unless you held really still for a few seconds after the photos were taken, they came out blurry. But otherwise, everything was great, the rooms were amazing and allowed us to stay and keep a small party going with our wedding party after. Couldn't say enough great things about this venue!
