Addison Oaks has a rich history dating back more than 100 years. Its elegant and distinctive English Tudor-style manor home is set amidst dramatic willows and surrounded by a formal flower garden. It’s the picture-perfect location for any special occasion.
Our wedding at Addison Oaks was an absolute dream! It was everything we wanted in our venue, with so many gorgeous spaces, from the reception area with huge windows for natural light, beautiful chandeliers, and great dance floor and bar areas, to the stunning outdoor garden for the ceremony, and all the amazing grounds for photos. We loved the vintage traditional bridal and grooms suites overlooking the garden, as well as the option to have the whole estate to ourselves all day. Dan, the venue director, was great to work with, very fun and personable, and always reassured us that things would work out just as we wanted. He was accommodating to all our special requests, and was very quick to respond to our many questions in the months leading up to our wedding. We liked how he offered us different packages to choose from that handled so many of the details like food and drinks as well as linen and chair rentals, which meant we didn’t need to worry about finding separate vendors for these elements. As we got closer to the wedding, we worked with Lois who helped us figure out our ceremony timing and all the little day-of details. She was great with setup and coordination on the day, and helped the day go smoothly. Rick was also super helpful with setup, helping my mom bring in our extra finishes and arranging everything beautifully. He even went out of his way to look for something we left behind when we called in a panic the day after. Shiela also managed the event in the evening and ensured that everything went smoothly. She was very accommodating. We were thrilled with the chef, Nate, who happily accommodated our requests and made absolutely wonderful food that all the guests raved about. As the father-of-the bride and her sister are vegan, it was super important to us that the menu accommodate them and others with special dietary needs. The staff did a great job promptly serving our delicious plated meals and getting all the orders correct. Nate and his staff put together an absolutely stunning 24-foot dessert buffet with all kinds of fabulous desserts that wowed our guests. He even went out of his way to get some vegan and gluten free desserts added to the display. We cannot recommend Addison Oaks enough to any couple looking to have an extravagant estate-style wedding with the most helpful team! Reviewed on 08-01-2024

The venue is gorgeous and you really forget you're in Michigan when there. Well-maintained landscape and grounds. Amazing food. I have been a guest at a wedding here as well as a bride, so I have had both the plated and buffet dinner options, both AMAZING.I don't even know what else to say other than, choose Addison Oaks for your wedding! Also, the food was to die for - all the guests raved about the food, as well as the incredible dessert display! Daniel was always extremely responsive and helpful the entire time leading up to the wedding (even when I would send him questions far in advance of the wedding day) and he and Lois were both so helpful and knowledgeable on the day of, ensuring everything went smoothly, and helping to make sure that everything was set up just as I had envisioned. Diana Lang(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-12-2021 I wish I could write a better review. I was so hopeful that this venue would have delivered. Everything was great until the actual day of the wedding. They promised Christmas tree placement up until the day before and then told me that they didn't have them. They forgot a full course of food at the wedding. The salad was missing ingredients. I had menus out on the tables and everyone was wondering why there was food missing. It was horrible and they offered nothing to fix their major mistakes. This is even after I gave them a deal on leaving decorations for them that my father spent hours putting up, with no help at all, that they decided they wanted to keep. I did not let it take away from my otherwise perfect wedding day but I wish I would have gone somewhere else. There is so much work and effort that went into the day and to have all of these issues on the day of was really heartbreaking. Megan Kemper(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2018 My now husband and I chose Addison Oaks for our wedding venue for a couple of reasons. 1. We were not interested in having our wedding at your typical reception hall that is a large room with no windows- so we of course loved the vaulted ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, wrap around deck and of course all of the original characteristics that the estate has such as fireplaces, exposed wood and brick and stone. 2. We loved the option to have our wedding ceremony in the beautiful garden with the wooden trellis above us during the ceremony. We were fortunate that it didn’t rain on us, but our trade off was that it was 90 degrees and sunny. Thankfully, right after our ceremony, our guests and my husband and I were able to cool off inside Addison Oaks. 3. We chose Addison Oaks because of the rave reviews about the buffet. Although we had not tried the food before finally deciding on this venue, we were not disappointed by the food. We chose the buffet option for our food and it was such a good decision, the food was absolutely mouth-watering and our guests could not stop raving about how good the food was! Now onto the things we were happily surprised by with our decision to host our wedding at Addison Oaks. 1. Dan and Lauri were absolutely amazing to work with, always prompt on returning emails or answering questions on the spot over the phone. They were flexible with making appointments with us and overall made the wedding planning process easier and smoother. 2. We worked with Lois at our rehearsal as well as for our wedding day. We were pleasantly surprised to have Lois who essentially acted as our day of coordinator telling the bridal party where to be and when, making sure we stayed on schedule with our wedding timeline. Whenever I needed something Lois was nearby and ready to answer my question or get me what or who I needed. We also worked with Sam who was with us during the morning and early afternoon on our wedding day. Sam met with my mom and I on the morning of the wedding to go over where all of the decorations we had brought would be placed, which was so great that we could just tell him where things should go and he executed what we asked. When the staff was getting the room ready, my mom didn’t care for the way the napkins were being folded and placed and Sam immediately had the set up changed! 3. The ladies of the bridal party spent the morning getting ready in the bridal suite upstairs, which was the perfect space for getting ready, with plenty of natural light and I loved being able to look out over the garden and front entrance to watch what was going on. While we were getting ready, we had some light food and Addison Oaks provided fruit, veggies, crackers and cheese, as well as water, which was a pleasant surprise! Overall, my now husband and I would highly recommend Addison Oaks to host your wedding, the service was excellent and we truly had the best day of our lives, mostly thanks to Addison Oaks! Jennifer Flowers(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-12-2015 We held our December 2015 holiday wedding at Addison Oaks - Buhl Estate and it was an overall wonderful experience! The venue is so unique and exudes warmth and personality. It would be beautiful for a spring/summer, fall OR winter wedding for different reasons. The grounds are beautiful, being in a state park--so an outdoor wedding would be lovely here. In our case, we had a winter wedding, which kept us indoors--and the many fireplaces throughout the facility and the lovely holiday decorations created just the right atmosphere for our holiday wedding. The food is THE BEST wedding food we have ever experienced; our guests all said the same thing! And, the dining room service was impeccable. The only things that kept this a four star review versus a five start review were: 1) We never received our wedding cake serving set back after our cake cutting and were upset about this as clearly they were misplaced by either the hall staff or by another vendor (it was a designer gift set from our shower) and 2) some of the minor details on our wedding day were not as perfect as we would've liked (some burned out twinkle lights on fireplace mantles; and one fireplace wasn't lit for our family photos). To make a \"perfect\" experience, these little details would've been handled. However, given all of the other more visible and important items to us and our guests, everything else at Addison Oaks was wonderful. Lauri was our main contact person but we met with Dan for our tasting -- he let us purchase a keg of Oberon through them to add on to the basic beer and wine package. We had a plated lunch reception with chicken and filet, and even our pickiest guests commented on how delicious the food was. The dessert buffet was also spectacular! Lois was our day-of-coordinator and although she did a great job on the big day, it would have been nice to be dealing with her (instead of Lauri) leading up to our wedding, or at least for her to be filled in on the details before our rehearsal. Instead of a formal rehearsal, we did a basic walk through with Lois the Thursday before the wedding, explaining everything we wanted, running through the ceremony, and dropping off all of our paper goods and things we wanted set up. It was great that they set everything out (place cards, menus, programs, etc.) but it was also good that we had a few friends following up on the little details and making sure that our other vendors showed up on time and did what they were supposed to do! The bridal suites upstairs are absolutely gorgeous (recently renovated) and equipped with separate restrooms areas for each half of the bridal party. I wish that we had more time on the wedding time to enjoy those rooms, and the mimosas and appetizer platters that Addison Oaks provided to us! We used Addison Oaks's linens (upgrading the napkins) and used their basic grey/silver chairs, and everything looked great. I would recommend using your own table numbers because theirs were a bit dirty. All in all, this was a great venue that made wedding planning very easy! And we're sad that we don't get to hang out there anymore! Reviewed on 24-08-2015
Christie Nichols(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-08-2015 Addison Oaks is the perfect place to get married! We were just recently married here this month. The venue is designed to hold both a ceremony and reception, and it worked out so nicely for us to do just that! \r\rWe held our ceremony in the outdoor garden/courtyard, which is just beyond gorgeous. There was no need for ceremony decor because the beautiful flowers within the garden decorated the area on their own. Then, we held our reception inside the newly renovated ballroom, which we absolutely loved! It was such a wonderful fit for the size of our wedding, and we couldn't have been happier with how the evening went. The staff was wonderful, the food was AMAZING (we received so many compliments), the bar service was spot on (they did a great job with presentation of our signature drink, and the whole evening ran very smoothly.\r\rLeading up to our big day, Lauri was such a huge help too! She was very responsive any time we had a question, and willing to work with us on special requests to help make our vision for our wedding come to life. I highly recommend Addison Oaks! Overall the staff was friendly and professional. The food is outstanding; all of our guests just raved about the food! The ceremony spot is beautiful and it was comforting to know that the indoor option was just as pretty in case of rain! We appreciated that during the reception we had staff ask us what we would like to drink and they assisted us at the buffet. Our wedding was so beautiful and I'm thrilled with the outcome. Michelle Smith(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-08-2014 My fiance and I really wanted to get married up north. But after looking at prices on places we decided that was no going to work. When we found Addison Oaks we knew it was perfect. It was only about 30 minutes away and had the \"up north\" look. Our photographer stated that if someone gave him a million dollars to build the perfect place to take pictures, it would look just like Addison Oaks. Aside from the gorgeous scenery, the food is just excellent. I had a buffet there for my shower and the plated dinner at my reception and each time the guests raved about the food. The management is TOP NOTCH. They are on top of everything to the last detail. As a bride you will never have to worry if something is going to be overlooked. Their managers are just as good as wedding planners. My fiance and I could not be more happy with our choice to have our wedding there. Our guests also commented on what a beautful place it was. They were available to answer all my questions and worked with me to make sure that everything was perfect on my wedding day. I made all of my centerpieces and some additional decorations so it was wonderful to be able to go in and set everything up ahead of time since there wasn't an event the friday before. With that being said, I made a couple of trips to the hall, each time they were so welcoming and eager to help me with whatever I needed. Even to the point that they helped us set up and take down some of the decorations. \r\rThe food there is amazing! Although, on my wedding day I didn't get to finish my meal I have eaten there before and it is a great meal, my guests were talking about for days following. \r\rAll in all a great venue with beautiful landscape for pictures. Abby Phillips(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-07-2013 Addison oaks was everything I had hoped for and more. They were amazing to work with for the year leading up to my wedding, worked well with our other vendors, and responded to my numerous detailed emails quickly. They were friendly and polite, helped on the day of our wedding with locating my mom when she forgot her phone and I couldn't get in touch with her. Overall the service could not have been better, but the food! OMG! I'm not sure I have ever had a better meal at any restaurant-even the really expensive ones. All of the food was incredible, appetizers were hot and really great, as well as the dinner. We got the dessert bar and it was definitely worth it. It was awesome, everyone loved it and we got the rest of the dessert to take home...we have since eaten all the left overs. Jess DeMorris(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-06-2013 Loved Addison Oaks and would recommend it to anyone. Lauri helped coordinate our wedding and answered every question, silly or not, along the way. Dan was amazing on our wedding day. Calm, funny, knowledgable and on top of everything. They didn't really offer up a food tasting; they said their food's reputation proceeded itself. But it was AMAZING! People came up to us during and in the weeks after to rave about it. We had 215 guests, it was comfortable and not crowded. Did the buffet and would recommend that as well! Reviewed on 22-07-2013
Cris Ancog(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-06-2013 I would HIGHLY recommend Addison Oaks as a place to hold a wedding.\rThe old mansion in a county park is a beautiful venue. My daughter had the ceremony in the beautiful garden, with the reception in the mansion.\r Everything that Addison Oaks did was outstanding. They were always very friendly, responsive and flexible at every point of the wedding planning. I loved that we were able to bring in our own alcohol (which saved us tons of money). We also brought in our our table chargers and chair covers. They also let us bring in our own non-alcoholic drinks for the guests prior to the ceremony. I really felt that they weren't trying to get every last nickel out of us, and helped us to cut down on costs in every way they could. \r They let us bring all the \"stuff\" to the site the day of the rehearsal, which saved us a lot of stress the day of the wedding. Fortunately, the venue did not have an event earlier in the day, so we were able to arrive about 2:30, get dressed, take pictures, set up, and relax before all the guests started arriving. They had snacks and drinks in the dressing rooms, and brought out ice water to us when we were taking pictures in the hot sun. As soon as the ceremony was over, the staff was outside offering the bridal party with appetizers and drinks. The guests were ushered into the reception site and greeted with drinks on trays, and appetizers. \r I can't say enough about how great the service was-the anticipated every need, and ran a smooth, professional event. As the mother-of-the-bride, I didn't have to do anything the entire night. We didn't have any type of paid wedding planner, and i definitely didn't need one. And they had everything packed up and ready for us when it was time to leave.\r The garden is beautiful, and doesn't need much decorating. The hall is elegant, and again doesn't need much decorating. We opted for the buffet, because of the variety of food. Many people told me that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding. We also had pizza as the late night snack-which the guests loved. They prepared a special meal for a guest that had specific dietary restrictions.\r There is not one thing that went wrong at the wedding, and I credit that to Lauri, Daniel and the rest of the staff at Addison Oaks. If you are planning a wedding, this is the place to go.\r Reviewed on 26-06-2013

The food was very good and my guests are still talking about how tasty it was. I highly recommend this venue for ceremony and reception. It rained on my wedding day and I was supposed to get married outside. They converted the dining hall into the ceremony location seamlessly. Everyone thought it was meant to be that way! I can't say enough good things about Addison Oaks. The only thing is they were a bit pricey. I wouldn't go with any of their extras, like candy buffet etc. We did our own for much cheaper and got to personalize it. They will still set things up for you even if you go to an outside source which is a huge plus. Also, they don't provide liquor, so you end up paying way less buying your own. sara hearn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-08-2011 My little cousin told me about a wedding she went to at Addison Oaks. She knows that I am food snob to put it mildly. My biggest concern for the wedding was food. I wanted the venue to be beautiful, not cheesey, and the food to be good, unlike the majority of American weddings. Our wedding was Russian/Jewish/American and this crowd expected great things when it came to food and drink. That being said the food was great. The biggest benefit of having our wedding at Addison Oaks was that we were allowed to supply our own alcohol. Which was a huge savings! The staff was great. They made going through the stressful process of planning a wedding seem smooth. Then again they have done this thousands of times. Any question we had they answered promptly. The management was spot on the day of our rehearsal and our wedding day. Lois was there the day of the rehearsal and helped us more than she knew, because our wedding coordinator was greatly lacking. Lois stepped in right away! The day of our wedding Sam, another manager, was wonderful. He would check on us and be sure that we were ready for dinner, or the cake to be cut, etc. He was so helpful, professional, and kind. Anything we asked for it was not problem and he was right there! All of our guests had a wonderful time. The highlight of our night was that Sam came to us with a large bag at the end of night. He packed up two dinners and two pieces of cake of my groom and I. He figured that we likely did not get enough time to enough our meal that night and he was right. Then again, what else can you expect but greatness from a place of such experience/caliber. The staff was very accomadating letting us decorate for the day however we wished and then even helped to set it all up. We also had an upstairs room which allowed my entire wedding party to get ready there. The food was AMAZING. Didn't hear anything but good reviews from family and friends. One negative was that they allowed other events to be booked in the main ball room the same day as the wedding. We didn't have access to the room until after 5:00 with our wedding starting at 6:30. And i'm not talking about crazy specifics. I'm talking about table names on the right tables and basic decorations. I wrote out a complete direction list of what goes where and attached to each decor of where it went. They didn't do 70% of it. my friends and family were there to help, and it still was very down to the wire.
