This review is for both Ainsworth House & Gardens, and for our amazing day-of coordinator Jocelyn. The venue is incredibly beautiful and they made the process as painless and easy as I think is possible when planning a wedding. I booked with Ainsworth before the new owners took over, but the transition seemed at least to me to be pretty seamless. The updates the new owners have made so far are very nice; I'm hoping they just make sure to keep the old-school charm that comes with this property as they continue to make changes. There is not enough that can be said about Jocelyn, and if you are able to get her as your coordinator you will be extremely lucky! She was kind, personable and responsive, and on the day she addressed absolutely everything I needed, often before I even thought about needing it. Reviewed on 05-10-2023

My husband and I got married at Ainsworth on October 5th, 2023 and we would get married here over and over again. From finding them on the knot to driving away in our getaway car this venue was a dream come true. It was our top choice and quite affordable for the area and how lovely it is (we did a Thursday in the off season, and paid to add an extra hour for set up and photos). They had great furnishings, linens, beautiful bride and groom suites, and the best venue coordinator ever. The new owners have really put their hearts into making this place even more stunning and our coordinator Jocelyn put her heart into making our day magical. She not only helped us plan down to the little details of the space and timeline, but she really lived the day with us. We could not be more grateful for the Ainsworth team. I hope we get to come back someday for another wedding. Reviewed on 04-11-2023

I cannot speak highly enough about our experience having our wedding at Ainsworth House and Gardens! Laurie was our day of coordinator and she was amazing. The whole property is gorgeous and all our guests were so in love with the whole event. All the staff was friendly and wonderful! When you book your wedding with them (for a pretty fair price I think) they give you a great list of recommended vendors. We selected most of our vendors off this list and Laurie worked and communicated with them, making sure everyone was on the same page. The bridal and groom suites are great! Really, the whole wedding was borderline perfect! Thanks Laurie and AH&G staff! Reviewed on 04-08-2023

Chea Berra(other)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-10-2022 This venue is definitely pretty. We were so excited based on the reviews. We definitely did not have the same experience and ultimately are sorry we chose it for my daughter's wedding. We were assigned Laurie Morris as our wedding organizer. She was nonresponsive from the beginning. We finally had to ask the venue owner, Kevin, to intervene to get a response from Laurie. However, Kevin never apologized or seemed to care.On the day of the wedding, Laurie would not respond to our inquiries about where to set up things or where we could find things. She was in a foul mood and was rude to our guests. Once again we had to get Kevin to intervene. However, when we saw Kevin come out to speak with Laurie, it was obvious that they are good friends and laughing. This all while my younger daughter, who was the maid-of-honor, was on the point of tears because she was so flustered and stressed. The outside area was set up in a haphazard and unattractive way. They did not set up the microphone for the readings during the ceremony (and Laurie was nowhere to be found) so we had to awkwardly work our way through that. When we went inside for the dinner, we found that they did not put the table displays that we requested. There were no water pitchers put out on the tables. So, guests had water glasses but no water.Throughout the reception, Laurie remained unpleasant and inaccessible. Laurie got upset at a group that went up to the buffet and asked if there was more of the vegetables. She laid into them quite harshly that they were supposed to wait and actually glared at them when they stayed put. (So glad we had guests who knew that her behavior was unacceptable and not going to back down to her bullying.) At the end of a long night, my husband and I had to figure out where things were. Laurie looking very put off just kept walking away from us. She made a stressful situation even more stressful. I don't understand why she was so rude to our guests and so unhelpful. I don't know how Kevin would allow it.Literally several dozen guests asked what her problem was. This is her job for goodness' sake. I'm glad I was able to insulate my daughter from Laurie's ugliness. I'm so sorry many others were not. There are just as pretty, if not prettier, venues around. No wedding should be marred by the disrespect and disservice that Kevin and Laurie showed our party. Reviewed on 04-10-2022

We just had certain payments we made to the venue, then Nancy dolled it out to the vendors. We had to have exchanged close to 200 emails throughout this process and Nancy was ALWAYS so happy to help and easy to work with. She answered all my questions, offered up suggestions based on her expertise, and everything went perfectly. Planning a wedding is freaking STRESSFUL. If it weren't for Nancy, I would have said, \"Screw it!\" and we would have eloped! Agh... just EVERYTHING! She helped with decorations, choosing a caterer and photographer, a place to have our rehearsal dinner.... Kevin was supposed to be our officiant, but had a family matter come up a few months before. The list of preferred vendors was extremely helpful, but I loved that we were able to ultimately choose who we wanted and Nancy helped facilitate that connection if necessary. For example, I decided to use chairs from another company instead of the chairs at Ainsworth and Nancy helped me price out the best deal! She was very organized and made sure to ask all of the right questions to get even the little details decided and to make sure I was happy. Our only complaints were that the rehearsal was a bit frustrating and that the venue was being shown the day of our wedding (even though we were expressly told that we would have the entire venue all day in case anything came up). We did not have a traditional wedding ceremony at all (we created the entire ceremony and my brother performed it for us), but it was very clear that the wedding coordinator was old fashioned. Our photographers basically took over as the coordinator because the on-site ones were MIA. Granted, I am sure they were doing something, but all of our guests kept coming out to us when we were just taking photos making people think it was over. There was a lot of dead time when there shouldn't have been so the lull really screwed our time and we had a short time frame to be there being we had a brunch/morning wedding. We didn't get to hear most of our music from our awesome DJ we had because we were outside most of the time surrounded by guests. Reviewed on 13-10-2016

My husband and I looked at only one other venue before touring this magical place. We knew immediately we did not need to look any further. And we didn't.The grounds are impressive! Lush gardens lined with gravel paths and a large variety of flowers, trellises, garden benches and twinkling lights. Need I say more? But I will! Being married under the massive and historical Ponderosa Pine on the grounds was something very special. You don't find that anywhere else. It was so amazing.Their staff is great! Our coordinator Krystle was so efficient and guided us in the planning process, so helpful! The owner, Kevin, who gave us our tour was fantastic as well. Everyone we corresponded with there throughout our wedding planning was so helpful and friendly. The bridal suite was fantastic. It was nice to have a home base at the venue to get dressed, leave my bridal party's belongings and have a private place to touch up make-up throughout the night. The grooms' suite is equally fabulous. As the bride, I was busy throughout the night, but every now and then I watched guests wandering through the garden paths and looking so happy:)We were impressed from day one and our guests were as well.People write reviews if they were \"happy\" but we weren't just happy, we were over the top impressed with The Ainsworth! Thanks for making our wedding so special! Nancy was amazing as our wedding event manager and kept the entire wedding on track without being too pushy. The garden setting was wonderful for the ceremony and cocktails after. The dinner and dancing inside was perfect. I couldn't be happier with the venue and their staff. The only issue that came up was that we were going to have a lot of younger children in attendance and that doesn't work well at the estate for several reasons. First is that the event center can only hold 115 people total, and also concern for the gardens and flowers. Having the ceremony under their enormous Ponderosa Pine was magical. Every guest could not believe how beautiful the ceremony was. Kevin Yell the owner officiated our secular ceremony and everyone should use him. He personalizes it, is responsive to your individual needs and is overall wonderful. The wedding coordinator there made the day-of completely non-stressful for me and put together all my many requests and executed my vision perfectly. The indoor venue can also turn into a lively dancing scene. Reviewed on 05-11-2012
Christina Shantz(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-08-2012 My husband and I knew the moment we walked onto the grounds of the Ainsworth House and Gardens that this would be the perfect place. We wanted an outdoor wedding but it was important that there was a rain option. At Ainsworth the wedding can be moved inside, even at the last minute! The grounds are wonderfully kept and in the summer it's so pretty!\rNancy, Renee, and Kevin are all wonderful. They are more than capable of planning everything but leave lots of room for what you want! They have great suggestions and ideas and are good at picking up on your style. Nancy was there on the wedding day and really handled everything so well - I was never stressed or worried. From the arrival of the photographer to the sparkler send off - it all was super smooth.\rOne note, when we first arrived to the Ainsworth House we were so skeptical. Ainsworth House is located right in the middle of a neighborhood. Don't let that throw you - once you get onto the grounds you'll forget there is anything around you!\rHighly recommended! Natasha McDougal(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-07-2012 Like the title says overall we had a very positive experience with Ainsworth House. Our main problem was working with their new events coordinator; she can be very underhanded and rude, plus she was not very knowledgeable about what Ainsworth House has and offers. We found that very frustrating. She also may try to force your event into a format that she feels is \"right\" at least it felt that way to me and my party. Plus communication was an issue with her. \rOn a happier note, the staff overall was extremely accommodating with all of our requests, very friendly, and they went out of our way to make sure things were right (except perhaps the event coordinator). Plus everything was absolutely beautiful!!! And we didn't have to do any set up or take down, which is wonderful. Overall the experience was positive and I would recommend them to a friend. Amber Hager(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-09-2011 Ainsworth House and Gardens was the absolutely perfect venue for our wedding. We wanted a place that would be flexible with vendor options, reasonably priced, as well as beautiful, have indoor and outside space, and a little bit of character. Amazingly we found all of this and more at AHG. From the moment we took a tour of the site until the moment we drove away on our wedding night, we were nothing but happy. We got married under the huge tree (one of the reasons for choosing AHG) and had our reception in the Conservatory. With the newly renovated space, our guests of 120ish fit perfectly. The dance floor and bar on the dance floor kept the night rocking and the new outside patio space was a great escape for those who wanted to take a break from the dancing. During our first dance as husband and wife I told my new husband we needed to do this again in 25 years and he said how about 15?\" I will find any excuse to host another party there again! Thank you for an amazing wedding. Reviewed on 03-12-2011

hailey pyles(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-08-2011 I would say this place is the best for your money. We knew it was where we wanted to get married right away. Flowers are everywhere, the dinner hall feels so open and magical.\rThe owner Kevin Yell is very insight full and was the Officiant of our wedding. We had so many compliments on our service! He was fantastic.\rI almost gave Ainsworth 4 out of 5 stars because they have a \"wedding planner\" that you have to use throughout the process of picking the colors, explaining the pricing, and what they have on site for us to use. She was very bad at returning emails and missed a couple of minor things for the actual day of. \rI would say oh well it's a \"free\" service but obviously her \"service\" is built into the rate of the place. However, the assistant she had help us on the day of the wedding was great. We had no idea/never told we were going to have a \"planner\" stay through the entire event and help move things along smoothly.\rOverall I definitely recommend getting married here and if you do and you need an Officiant I would definitely ask the owner Kevin Yell to be it. Danielle Hermesman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2010 I loved the feel of the Ainsworth House because of the vintage surrounding. The house was built in the 1800's and has a romantic vibe. It's intimate, retro, Victorian, vintage, and beautiful all in one. Reviewed on 02-11-2010
Kristan Jeannis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2010 I can't tell you how wonderful Kevin and the Ainsworth House staff were. We had a beautiful wedding. The brides room was big enough for three bridesmaids, two photographers, myself and all our stuff. The grooms area had three groomsmen, two ushers, the groom and all their stuff. Very comfortable area to get ready for our big day. We had to get a tent due to the weather-which held off and we ended up not needing the tent-and the staff was wonderful at corrdinating the whole thing last minute. I highly recommend the Ainsworh House. It is a lesser known spot in Oregon City-everyone knows about the Abernathy Center-but I am glad we went with them. Reviewed on 27-10-2010
Karina Dalton(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-08-2010 We loved working with all the staff at Ainsworth House. They were able to offer us an amazing package deal and we were so glad that we ended up planning our wedding this way. The wedding ceremony outside below the old tree was beautiful and the reception in the conservatory was classy and unique. The owner is also a Reverand and did a fantastic job officiating our wedding. The only disadvantage to this beautiful house and gardens that is perfect for pictures was that there is noise ordinance because it's in a neighborhood, so music had to be cut by 10pm. This is a great place for an afternoon or early evening wedding if the price is right and you are looking to get a package deal. Talk to them about Oct-May pricing!!! Reviewed on 01-09-2010
