We had a spectacular day at the Bahia. Our complimentary room was fabulous, and all the guests had a blast at the wedding. We had the ceremony in the gazebo which was beautiful (and as a plus, pretty quiet). We had the reception on the William D. Evans which was really special. Vida and the kitchen team made tasting for the wedding fun, and the day of the wedding I enjoyed my entree. The complimentary vendors they had (flowers and cake) also did a great job - will be posting reviews separately. Reviewed on 15-10-2023

The Bahia was the PERFECT location for our wedding ceremony and reception. From the initial meeting, through the planning stages, and to the day-of, every single staff member, including especially our point of contact, Vida, was professional, warm, detail-oriented, and an absolute pleasure to work with. The ceremony site (we picked the pond/garden/gazebo) was stunning and the reception hall overlooking the bay and palm trees was so magical, we barely needed any extra decor as the garden and views were beautiful already! We appreciated how, despite the ceremony being outdoors, it really did feel private and intimate, with the hedges providing a secluded space for us and our guests. The suite they provided us for the night before and the night of was so spacious and comfortable, and a great location for the ladies to get ready together the day of. Truly, it was just the most perfect day, and we had zero stress, thanks to knowing the team was so incredible. Thank you so much! Reviewed on 11-07-2023

From the moment I called the Bahia and met with Laura I have been so happy with their service. Shortly after you iron out the details with Laura you meet with Vida, She is absolutely amazing as well. Almost every time I reached out with questions I received a same day response. (Even weekends) I was able to tour all of their venue options at the resort and we chose the Bahia Belle. It's a super cool three story boat that sails the bay during your wedding reception/ceremony. The staff seemlessly executed the reception. We had one small hiccup with the sound system that was immediately addressed and remedied. We were treated like the bride and groom from the moment we checked in hours early. They had our room ready within a half hour. While we waited we had some lunch at the on site restaurant that is delicious and somehow they knew we were the bride and groom and brought us a beautiful dessert on the house. The location is unmatched for the Mission beach area. The rooms on the private beach and the views are so romantic. It is very fairly priced as well. We had so many compliments from guests on the venue and how beautiful everything was. I would highly recommend the Bahia and Laura and Vida. Thank you for making our day so memorable and special. Sarah Olsen(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-10-2022 I have several pages written of our experience (posted on other wedding sites for the full story), but I've condensed it for an overview as pros and cons:Pro:-Beautiful location. We had our ceremony on the beach and reception on the William D Evans boat and that was an incredibly unique experience-They offer a lot in their packages for a decent(ish) price-Luckily lots of positive feedback from our guests, even though the wedding party was stressed to the max because of the venue and staff Cons:-HORRIBLE customer service. From start to finish, it felt like a fight just to get information or even things that we agreed to originally. Any small request like having a signature cocktail at the wedding was immediately shot down. They were not accommodating at all without us putting up a fight or try to charge extra for it (see below).-Every little thing was extra. I get that most wedding venues do this, but there were things that felt like hidden fees. For example, we had the ceremony on the beach (which was already an extra cost) and were under the impression that the cocktail hour would be there as well. They tried to charge us extra for that. Also they tried to charge us for our dogs being there with us (even though it's a dog friendly resort and we told them the dogs would be there) and they even tried to charge us AFTER the wedding for our photographers having a drink at the bar - even though we had already paid for them in the guest count. -The bar tender at our reception was incredibly rude to the guests, and not particularly friendly with the bride and groom either. I don't know if she had a chip on her shoulder or what, but we paid a required 25% gratuity in advance that I'm sure she was included in, and I'm sure she would have gotten more cash tips if she had been friendlier throughout the night. She refused service to a guest who she thought was only a vendor, and actually refused to serve me - the bride - at the end of the night because she had started packing up. Not worth 25% in my opinion and not the kind of energy you want at your wedding. There's so much more that went on in my short few months of dealing with the Bahia, but in short, while it's a beautiful venue in a great location, I would have taken my wedding elsewhere. Just be prepared to fight for what really matters to you in your wedding. My biggest advice would be to hire an excellent wedding coordinator as they require you to hire one anyway - I highly recommend Giulia with GiuliaEvents.com - and don't expect them to make you feel special or excited that you decided to spend a lot of money by choosing this venue for your wedding. Dina Alayan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-03-2020 Where to start about this venue literally went above and beyond for me and my now husband. To start we got married on the William d Evans which is this huge beautiful boat on their own private dock but they have several different venue Spaces all of them beautiful all of them with a view.Honest to god we wouldn’t have been able to have the wedding of our dreams if it wasn’t for Heather working with us and our budget, it was literally the best venue tour we took,we even ran into the hotel owner on our tour who was nothing less than polite and genuine,no doubt staff is a reflection of leadership. Looking at other venues was the most frustrating part of the entire planning process especially being a younger couple, and wanting to have a beautiful wedding that everyone can enjoy, but not having to sacrifice things like location or the amazing food, But most importantly I got to marry the man of my dreams locally. I was born and raised in San Diego and it was so important to me to not have to sacrifice such an important location to such an important day in my life.Bahia made the process stress free and literally checked all the boxes. The catering coordinator Antonio really cares and is the definition of what it means to be a San Deign, it’s not just work for him we truly felt the heart and the passion that he put into our day. Our wedding reception was on March 15 2020 so a couple of days ago,yes this was all accomplished by Antonio and Bahia while covid 19 pandemic is going on and not once did Antonio falter on me nor my now husband’s special day.The Bahia was so accommodating and willing to do whatever we felt was best given the circumstances, and I cannot stress this enough how I was in so much disbelief that Antonio and the staff and the hotel rallied virus or not they really did care and were there for us when we needed it most. Our guests are still talking about our wedding to this day we had an amazing time, it’s seriously could not have gone any better even I had my doubts given everything that was going on but Antonio and the hotel accomplished the impossible, from the bottom of my heart I could have never been happier getting married anywhere else but the Bahia. We will definitely be going back there every anniversary same bungalow, and I truly hope when I have kids they will get married at the Bahia because I will know for certain they will be in the best hands. We booked the venue a little over a year in advance and from that point all the way to the day of our wedding Holly was extremely helpful, accessible and responsive. She was also very patient as there were moments we were not sure on a decision and needed more time and she was glad to give us that time and make it work. The wedding packages at the Bahia are amazing! Considering what is included (open-bars/3 course meal (yes dessert that is separate from the cake) and the space to name a few) the prices were EXTREMELY reasonable and was the reason we chose them. My then fiancee (now wife) LOVED the ballroom because of the beautiful chandeliers and space and after looking at many other venues beforehand (over 10) we knew this was our choice and we dont regret anything about it.On the day of the wedding, Cheryl Smith and crew were amazing. Getting the food and drinks served not only to us at our sweetheart table but also to our guests was excellent. Our guests mentioned how during the cocktail hour the trays being passed were ALWAYS available. We've been to weddings where the appetizers go missing and servers could not be found but that was not the case here.In regards to the ballroom again, our guests loved it and we were amazed at how beautiful it looked. It definitely hit on the 'elegant' look my wife wanted and we heard many comments that said the same thing. The Bahia is an amazing resort as well.. we were given a room because of booking our reception there and you cannot beat being in San Diego in December and by the beach. All the rooms have a great view or private access to a beach so staying here is definitely something we would like to do again in the future. All in all, when it comes to weddings, I know first-hand of the 'stress' and 'concerns' that arise but when it comes to a venue and working with catering, the Bahia put all that to rest. They are easy to work with, have very competitive packages and have an AMAZING venue. They made our wedding a huge success and we are glad we chose them. I recently got married (11.12.17) at the Bahia in the Del Mar room, it was a small (40 guests), Sunday morning brunch wedding. We initially were working with Taylor Smith to book our reception and although that was roughly a year ago, he was so very helpful, kind and pleasant to work with. Brunch weddings aren't a common thing, so for any question that he couldn't answer right away, he would get back to us in a very timely fashion. Once we officially booked the Del Mar room, we were forwarded on to Holly Nelson, who was our contact from that point forward and there with us on our big day! No matter what Holly had on her plate, she always remained friendly, professional and responsive. I had a hiccup with an unresponsive day of coordinator at the halfway mark to the big day and Holly jumped in so fast to ensure we were taken care of and suggested a different coordinator that she absolutely knew we would be happy with. That suggested coordinator (Courtney with Breezy Day Weddings) plus Holly made our big day super stress free and amazing! The two of them worked well together and had great communication with each other, and us. I really appreciated both of their abilities to be friendly with a sense of humor and professional all at once. It took away any \"stuffy\" feelings while planning an event. On the wedding day itself (our ceremony was elsewhere), Holly was 100% there for my Husband and I, making sure we were happy and not \"without\" anything. She made sure we were not hungry and that we always had our drink of choice available to us. There was a moment that Holly noticed that I was visibly uncomfortable and also helpless (Lol...) off to the side of the gathering because there were layers of my dress that were bunching and I couldn't reach them, or find them so she came up to me and helped me adjust the layers of my dress so that they were all laying properly. Seems like such a little thing, but it was HUGE to me, especially because I didn't have a bridal party or anyone specific to look out for me in that way. She was amazing! As part of our reservation, a room was included for the night of our wedding. When we arrived into our bay front room, there was champagne, grapes, chocolate covered strawberries and cards from the staff congratulating us. It was unexpected and super nice. We were able to sit back on the patio lounge chairs facing the water while recapping our day and starting our new life together. I can't say enough of the catering team and the rest of the hotel for their one of a kind service and the experience they gave us for the week of our wedding. Let me start off by saying that Holly Nelson is an angel on this earth and was there for us from day one up until we walked back into our room at the end of the wedding and were greeted with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne. She is thoughtful, sincere, gives genuine advice, listens, and is so quick to respond. She helped us the day before during rehearsal and made everyone feel comfortable about the timeline and where they needed to be. And day of she was there helping me fix my dress (boob tape ladies, don't forget it like I did) and even hold my dress as I walked around the property for pictures and to meet my dad to walk down the aisle. Holly, you truly made our experience so easy, memorable, and fun.. I will forever be grateful for you. You are amazing at what you do. Taylor Smith was our initial contact at the Bahia while we were deciding where we wanted our wedding to be held. He was never pushy, answered any and all questions we had, was very sincere and kind during our whole experience. Jorge MacĂas was our banquet captain day of and he made everything run so smoothly! Everyone loved the food (we did chicken and veggie option), the appetizers were delicious, no one was ever waiting around for drinks, and his crew members and staff were genuinely awesome. *** The Bahia is the perfect place to have your wedding- it takes away the stress of catering, decisions about flowers, the cake, and all the help in between from all of the amazing staff members. Mary (Mother of Groom) S.(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-09-2018 Waking up to a downpour on the morning of June 10, amazingly, I did not fall apart! My first thought was, “The Bahia has this covered…it is going to be okay!” Based on nine months of working with the Bahia, I had complete peace of mind. And it was truly a beautiful, fairy tale wedding! Our guests raved about the elegance of the venue, the outstanding food, and the exceptional service. The rain did stop, and the ceremony was in the beautiful, tropical Gazebo Garden, and the first dance and the reception were under the gorgeous stained-glass dome ceiling on the magical paddlewheel boat, the William D. Evans The WDE is a spectacular venue….the sun was out while we were cruising Mission Bay, and it was absolutely gorgeous. In addition to the beauty of the venue, what makes the Bahia so special is the staff, whose customer service was excellent from start to finish. Taylor Smith was great in helping us secure our contract. Holly Nelson, our Catering Services Manager, was truly extraordinary! Holly truly epitomizes customer service at its finest. To Holly, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us make so many good decisions about how everything would look and how the day would go…I was only sad that it had to end, and could not stop smiling thinking back on every moment.” Holly is AWESOME! She made everything work! In fact, the overall attitude of the staff at the Bahia is that they are there to make everything work for you. Outstanding staff include: Taylor Smith and Holly Nelson (of course); our Banquet Captain Jeff Radovan; Kelsey Sellars (in the Catering Services office) who was amazing and “talked me off the ledge” one day when I was having a meltdown; Jonathan , Holly and the rest of the crew in the Reservations Office (I am sure I talked to all of them!) who handled SO many special requests with that “Bahia Can-Do” attitude; Kelly (one of the servers at the “Engagement Party” and our reception) is awesome; and the Front Desk Managers and staff, and the Concierge staff, who met our (and our numerous guests) every need. And to ALL of the staff at the Bahia….you are an incredible group! It truly shows that you put customer service as your top priority!Last but certainly not least, the Bahia Wedding Package is an incredible value. Holy Nelson was our rock throughout the entire process of planning our reception. We couldn't have done this without her. I am so glad we decided to go with this hotel for our wedding reception venue. My father even commented that ours was the best he'd ever been to. We used the marine room that held 13 people very comfortably. I'm so happy we decided to go with a small reception. There was no chaos, it went all so smoothly. The Bahia gave us a great price for the beach wedding package and so we reserved our date. All along the way, the event coordinator staff that we worked with most at the Bahia (Macarena Carballo, Jayna Prest, Holly Nelson) were phenomenal. The food tasting was great, all the planning communication prior to the event itself was amazing and prompt. They had multiple vendors already a part of the package and so communication with the extra vendors was made easier for me. It was truly the full package and I had minimal work to do outside the DIY stuff that I personally wanted to do. The day of the wedding could not have gone better. I had so many people come up and tell me how beautiful the venue was, the great accommodations, the fantastic food at the reception... I truly want to recognize the Bahia for their excellent service, quality, flexibility, and kindness. First of all, we nearly doubled the number of rooms in our assigned block and the Bahia continued to extend the discounted room rate even though they didn't have to do so. Second, all our guests LOVED the hotel!! Everyone was extremely pleased with the service and we heard no complaints. The hotel even sent champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room which were waiting for us after the wedding!! We had planned to take first look, bridal party, and family photos in the tropical garden at the Bahia before we headed to the ceremony but two days before the wedding we were worried about rain and our photographer was concerned about being able to take photos if it was drizzling. I was starting to worry and get a little upset since I didn't want all those photos to be squeezed into our hotel room so I walked over to the catering department and knocked on the door of two women having a meeting (I feel so so bad for forgetting their names!!). I was going to ask if there was any way we could do photos in the Bahia ballroom in case it rained and started to cry a little...I really didn't think I was that upset but it just all came out at once. The two women we SO KIND AND UNDERSTANDING. They got me tissues and listened to me blubber a little before telling me not to worry and ensured that it if rained we would be able to take photos in the ballroom (even though we weren't having our wedding at the Bahia or paying to use the ballroom). Their kindness came at the perfect time and truly exemplified the qualities of the Bahia staff. WENDI ORTMAN(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-09-2009 Empty promises! I just got married here a couple weeks ago.. When we first signed the contract it sounded so awesome. They told us that during cocktail hour they would save us some appetizers on a plate and have them waiting for us after our grand entrance. That didn't happen. They told us that the special vegan meals I had asked for would be delivered to the tables and names I had given them that didn't happen. I had to have the groom go hunt down the chef and ask where they were , they said in the back and the people were supposed to ask for them. Since when? I gave the name and table numbers for a reason!! They don't have signs out for the weddings going on, so a lot of our guest ended up going to other weddings. The day of wedding planner they make you purchase was late on the rehearsal night, also the day of picking up my stuff. She was no where to be found when I needed her, no where to be found when the ceremony ended and guests didn't know where to go from there. She was rushing my photographer via text when we were trying to do our couple pics and of course when we went up to the area that she needed us, she once again was no where to be found. Also just a heads up, we put money on the bar so when the free hours ran out the guest wouldn't have to pay. The tax the money you give them, and take 23% tip out immediately. So if you gave 1k towards the bar, what your really spending is $730. I thought that was un-fair but what can you do when they have you by the balls huh! I guess the only good things about this resort were, the honey moon suite and view, and the awesome spots for picture taking! Parking for the guests though is rough so make sure they get there early! Be sure to specify which room you want, if you can!\r\r- They hold multiple weddings/events per day, and there was a reception in the ballroom adjoining ours at the same time. It wouldn't have been an issue if both parties were eating dinner or dancing at the same time, but since ours was a later reception, our toasts were interrupted by the other party's loud music. You could avoid this same scenario by working with the in-house staff to coordinate your timeline with the timelines of any other events that are occurring on your same date. \r\rOverall, I found their staff to be wildly accommodating and flexible, and we were able to have a wedding that was truly personalized and unique. Liz Paluso(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-09-2013 I just had my wedding at the Bahia on 9/21/13. The venue was amazing! We got married on the beach and had our reception in the mission ballroom. It is one of the few places in San Diego that you can get married on the actual sand through a resort. In fact, it was the only we found in the mission bay/shelter island area that could hold approx 180 people. The Hilton in Mission Bay allows you to get married on the beach, but because the boardwalk area and beach are public areas they can't really make the area decently private and anyone can walk on the boardwalk area while you are getting married. At the Bahia people roaming around is limited to guests and I didn't see any really hanging out during our wedding. I highly recommend the Bahia for a beach ceremony. Most other places you can get married on the grass of the bay, but not the sand. \r\rAlso the mission ballroom is gorgeous and has an amazing view of the bay. The floor length windows truly let you and your guests enjoy it! The chandeliers are also gorgeous! The columns allow for great up lighting! I highly recommend up lighting! Also the area is pretty private ... You have an elevator going up directly to the ballroom and your own bathrooms for the floor and only you can access them (minus anyone that randomly wonders up to your floor, however it's kind of obvious if they do). There are parts a-d and we rented a-c as that fit our guest count of 180.\r\rThe packages at the venue are super inclusive, which we loved!! They were inclusive, but allowed for a lot of personalization and a lot of choices. It was perfect because we had a lot of choices to make, but I was not overwhelmed because the package came with certain things and it was a matter of choosing the color or between a few types or a few different vendors. There were several things you could upgrade to and the fees were not significant. Based on the 8 venues we looked at, the Bahia included more in their package by far than other venues that we looked at. \r\rBeth Hunt is an amazing Catering Sales Manager! We loved working with her. She is easy going and super responsive and extremely helpful!! We also appreciate all the hard work of Cheryl (Banquet Captain), Event Elements (anything and everything for the tables at the reception), Edelweiss Bakery and all of the wait staff as they made our wedding amazing as well. They were all wonderful! The food was really good!! It also came with a raspberry ice cream desert that everyone loved. We got lots of compliments on the dinner, desert & appetizers. \r\rBeth also left chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in our room for after the wedding! So sweet! We also had a suite for 2 nights included in our package! It was perfect!!!\r\rI highly recommend the Bahia. There are so many perfect photo locations. For us the Bahia was perfect ... Very reasonable price (for San Diego) and one of the few places you can get married on the beach that is pretty private. Also the staff is easy to work with and very accommodating and helpful! \r\rThe bar at the Bahia is a great place to gather. I spent a lot of time with my wedding guests in the evening at the bar the few days before the wedding as we had a lot of people from out of town staying at the Bahia. The room we had was very spacious and had a wonderful view of the bay. I am excited to see how that was captured in our wedding photos.\r\rThe location was perfect too! Rachel Member(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-06-2013 Bahia Resort Hotel was a beautiful wedding location! Catering Coordinator Beth Hunt worked so hard to make the day a special day for me and my groom. I just wish the day was longer! \r\rThe hotel had a beautiful package with different foods including a really nice bbq that went with our summer wedding. The hotel offers a private beach for lots of activities where brides can have their wedding and honeymoon in one. We couldn't have our reception on the beach as we previously wanted but Beth worked hard to compensate for us and we were able to have our reception on the beautiful William D. Evans steam ship which was gorgeous inside! My guests couldn't stop amazing at the beautiful architecture of the ship as well as the mural painted on the ceiling. We had an amazing reception that was topped off by next door's Sea World fireworks that made the evening all the more special. \r\rMy husband and I talked about returning to Bahia for our second honeymoon and we hope to spend more time enjoying the resort the second time around. hrennnn (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-07-2014 I have to begin by stating the Bahia is a wonderful resort. To be able to have your wedding there is the \"best\" experience you will ever have. I had my wedding with 75 guests aboard the William J Evans paddle boat for a day wedding. We had the ceremony on the ship, cocktail hour with appetizers, lunch, wine and open bar. The package is pretty much all inclusive for a very reasonable price. After lunch we cruised in Mission Bay for 2 hours. There is room for a DJ for dancing also. What made this event so special was there was so much to do. You could sit upstairs outside, dance, socialize at the bar area or just sit at a table and relax on the other floors. Kadi Duff, Wedding Events Coordinator was seamless in her knowledge, calm, helpful and patient. She was there the day of the wedding and made sure everything was flawless. Macarena was always there when needed as well. I have had so many people comment to me that this was the best wedding they ever attended. I have to agree it was a lot of fun. If I had to do it over again, I would. I highly recommend having your wedding at the Bahia. Reviewed on 24-07-2013

The view from the ballroom was incredible and the room required minimal decoration to make it look amazing (thus saving a lot of money). Their rates were the best out of ALL of the hotels in that area, and they offered the most bang for the buck! Two nights in the bridal suite, cake included, two hours of hosted bar, etc. Plus they were VERY flexible in accommodating my requests, which is hard to find in a hotel venue. My only negative is the catering manager (Lindsey) I worked with became hard to contact as my wedding date approached. She didn't correspond and follow up with me in a timely manner whatsoever. All in all everything was fabulous but I would have preferred her to be more consistent and \"on top of things\". That would have given me one less thing to think about as the big day approached! Lauren Mickelsen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-08-2012 My husband and I are both from the east coast, and therefore had mostly out of town guests at our wedding. We knew we wanted to find a place on the water in the centralized Mission Bay area so they could use our wedding as an excuse for a vacation. We loved Paradise Point Resort, but it was crazy expensive, and seemed that nothing was included in the package. Same goes for the Hyatt. It came down to the Dana, The Bahia, and The Catamaran. All reasonably priced for their amazing locations. Once we saw the Bahia Mission Bay Ballroom we knew we wanted to have our wedding there. Elegant floor to ceiling windows with views of the sunset on one side, and views of the fireworks on the other. Our only \"complaint\" was that they didn't have an outside area for cocktail hour. This was something that was very important to us as we wanted our guests to soak in the outdoor \"California feel. Our coordinator worked with us to overcome this shortfall, and jumped through hoops to have our cocktail hour approved to be on the Bahia Belle (of course for an extra charge, but well worth it). This was the highlight of our day...having all our guests on the top deck for a casual one hour chartered cocktail cruise around the bay. Then we filtered up to the Mission Bay Ballroom for serious partying and dancing. It was the perfect combination. Beth, and the rest of the crew did a spectacular job at ensuring everything was up to par with our expectations. We did add in the day of coordinator, which I would recommend, b/c she helped deal with a couple of issues I would have never wanted to throw at a family member to take care of. All in all a perfect day, and a spectacular time had by all. Numerous guests have told us that this was the best wedding they have ever been to. You really can't go wrong, the package includes EVERYTHING except for your outside vendors. Made it very easy to plan, and even easier to relax and enjoy on the big day. Last note...the grounds are absolutely gorgeous, and lush, and make for the most beautiful tropical pictures. I would recommend to anyone! Reviewed on 20-09-2012

The problem was the management because they had no communication with each other and all the different departments. They had another event booked the weekend we had our wedding which was going to hinder our guests from staying at the Bahia and block the roads from guests arriving. The outside ceremony space as well as the ballroom over looking the water were absolutely beautiful. The Only things I would tell all brides and grooms about the Bahia is pay very close attention to the details of room reservations with the discount they offer to wedding guests. Since we fell on Spring Break, the same price was not honored the closer we go to the wedding for wedding guests b/c we did not do a room block, which they required a 2 night min. After the ceremony I would have liked to have more time at the actually ceremony site. They charge less per head than all the other hotels, and they include so much in their basic package that everyone else charges extra for! Freaking out as I was, our Bahia coordinator was calm, professional, and managed to get us through our rehearsal, and then suggested we go take a look at how the reception room was coming together - which was a great idea in my opinion! The next morning, I woke up to a voice message from someone (can't remember who), assuring me they were already hard at work at preparing for our wedding which was set to take place that evening.\r\rA few things I remembered noting...\r1) The ducks. During the rehearsal, there were ducks in the pond behind the gazebo. I was assured there would be no ducks at my wedding, and there weren't.\r2) The food. We ended up having stations, and I had mentioned not wanting to try and carry what could be potentially messy and disastrous red sauces (enchiladas and a red sauce for pasta...) while wearing my wedding dress. Easy enough - one of the wait staff served my husband and I at our sweetheart table.\r3) The power outage. Casey Tinkham(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-06-2010 My wedding was a real dream come true. I attended a wedding at the Bahia prior to mine and I was immediately sold. Using candles and the beautiful chandeliers, the room is just stunning. My over-all experience with the Bahia was mostly positive, but I will point out the pitfalls so you are aware. \r\rI know I'm a type A personality, but responses to emails weren't exactly timely. I will say that they do try to be as accommodating as possible. At one point I had a guest list that was too large and they were very willing to help me work through that dilemma. Similar to my beef about the delayed emails, the Bahia coordinator I worked with didn't get me the room/table layout until the day before the wedding. This made it extremely difficult to print place cards etc. \r\rAt the wedding itself, there were two paid drink hours and although the times were designated in advance, our guest were still sitting at dinner when the bar apparently reopened, therefore the paid drink hour wasn't utilized by our guest. Of course in the moment, this wasn't something I realized and I wish their staff had notified me. We also paid for extra bottles of wine for each table, but weren't told that the bottles wouldn't be left on the table. If the servers didn't offer wine as frequently as our guest wanted it, who knows if the extra wine we purchased was even used. Oh and the reason we had to go with extra wine was because hosting just beer at the bar wasn't an option. Our only options were a cash bar, hosted bar or limited time hosting. I really wish a beer only hosting option were made available. \r\rThe Bahia was great about cleaning up each table as the evening went along. This included my candles that burnt out at different times of the night. It made it easier for clean up. They also did a great job of preparing the cake cutting and cleaning up of the cake. By the end of the night everything was nicely boxed and ready to go. I will caution you to not have your gift tables/other tables at the entryway. Some wedding crashers attempted to make off with our cake (which was on the table in the entry way), but my brother caught them in the elevator. The food itself was great and the service was wonderful. I had asked for a special wedding drink for our guest and didn't specify a drink beyond the color. They picked an awesome selection and my guest still rave about it! \r\rEven though a two-night stay at the resort comes with the wedding package, I wouldn't stay there on your wedding night. I'd save it for a different get-away weekend. The rooms are quite old and our suite was something straight out of a 60s or 70s era. Let's say it wasn't everything I dreamed of. One thing the Bahia did do right was leave us a surprise in our room. I won't spoil it for you, but I did want to say that the \"surprise\" was very thoughtful! \r\rReviewing the positives and negatives, I'd do it all over again making a few changes to avoid the pitfalls. I think it's a pretty good deal. Reviewed on 17-11-2010
