Rustic Yet Elegant Barn Venue
Barn 1888 offers a stunning rustic, yet elegant venue to exchange your wedding vows, or host your event. At Barn 1888, weâll make sure the vision for your special event becomes a reality and goes off without a glitch. Barn 1888 is conveniently located 30 minutes from Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and the Lakeshore in the town of Hopkins. Our Venue will offer everything you need to create the stunning occasion you and your guests will always remember. The barn, originally built in 1888 still maintains the exposed wood beams, weathered plank walls, and a soaring vaulted ceiling displaying the gambrel roof. The Barn can seat 200 guests, and also has an open balcony, and staircase that looks down on the lower level which is used for cocktails, appetizers, and dancing. The lower level can also be rented in the off season for smaller events as well. Barn 1888 has 2 Bathrooms in the Barn, 2 on the lower level, a Large Bridal Suite with its own private bathroom, Groomsman's room, and a prep area for the Caterer's. If you're planning on more than 200 guests, a Canopy Tent can be rented and placed on the property for a guest count of up to 300. Barn 1888 is also Handicap accessible, with an ADA Bathroom on each level, and a wheelchair ramp to the Barn. If you are looking to have your Ceremony at Barn 1888 it's all included in the Venue price. Ceremonies can take place in the courtyard, Chapel Gardens, Main Barn, or anywhere on the 20 acre property that fits your style. Endless beauty surrounds your every move whether you are inside or out. Tours are available by appointment to view the Venue. We are booking for 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026. I canât even begin to thank Barn 1888 enough for helping me make all my dreams come true at our wedding. First of all, the grounds are stunning! The barn itself has this homey family feel that was perfect for what we wanted. They manage to combine the country feel with elegance in all the details youâll find in the property like the chandelier in the dining room, the furniture, and the beautiful flower gardens throughout. I am not one to gamble. Living in Michigan we never know what the weather will bring. It was a plus that the venue is heated so I never once worried about the weather. What made this venue stand out to us is that itâs family owned and operated. We didnât get passed one from rep to rep. We worked with the same people throughout the process. They were knowledgeable, kind, and rapid to reply to questions through the planning process. They show that they care about and love their jobs through the careful upkeep of the barn, the cleanliness every time we were there, and by going above and beyond to help us during the planning when we had questions. I canât recommend them enough. We had the best day here! Thank you guys.

Barn 1888 is above and beyond the most beautiful location for any couples special day. The grounds are stunning with lots of locations for special moments, yard games, and photos. The Barn is well maintained and has two floors for dining and entertaining purposes. Beyond just being a venue, Bryan and Danielle are remarkable hosts. They were so helpful and supportive all day long from hanging flowers to setting up(and taking down) our very heavy carriage doors. Even more, they host weddings so often that their advice and wisdom helped us make this day perfect in so many ways. If you are looking for your venue...look no further, this is it!

100000000000000000/10!!!! Brian and Danielle go above and beyond for the venue to be absolutely perfect!!! The fact that they have extra decorations and that they are so helpful made planning so helpful! We used a lot of vendors off of their preferred list and that has helped so much!! The fact the Brian and Danielle keep up the barn is amazing! Danielle is a nurse and sheâs absolutely amazing!! The fact that she could get up at 4 am and then be at the barn early in the next morning for a wedding is insane!! They really take such care of their barn! What made me choose the venue was how stunning the grounds are and that the owners are very helpful during everything! I will absolutely recommend this venue till the day I die!!

I have done hundreds of weddings over the years as a vendor myself and I knew from day one that this was the perfect place for us. This is by FAR the best Barn Venue in Michigan. The owners are what I would call âType Aâ people. The landscaping is impeccable and everything is kept in tip-top shape. They will work to make your dream wedding a reality. They were super organized and had great communication throughout the entire year. Danielle was super quick to respond to all my emails (within 24 hours). They set up all the chairs and tables for the wedding and made an entire seating map for me to do the seating chart. With my husband being from a farming family and living only 15 minutes away, Barn 1888 was an easy choice. We love the idea of being able to drive by and show our future children where we got married â¤ď¸

Barn 1888 is a beautiful wedding venue and Danielle and Bryan have put their hearts and souls into creating a very special space for your once-in-a-lifetime event. As parents/family of the groom, we had the privilege of staying on the property in the farmhouse. This provided a peaceful, comfortable and extremely accommodating space for our jouful gathering. The beds were comfy, the water pressure good, the gathering spaces and kitchen generous and the claw foot tub a real treat. The barn is gorgeous and everything about it and the grounds made the wedding and reception feel magical. Excellent attention to details and prompt, conscientious communication. We highly recommend Barn 1888!

The ownerâs Danielle and Bryan are exceptional,professional and knowledgeable host. All the clear and timely communication was greatly appreciated. A shout out to their bar service and bartenders too! Take a tour, itâs worth the drive from any location!

We just celebrated my daughterâs wedding at Barn 1888. It was truly a perfect day at the most beautiful venue. The entire experience was seamless. The owners, Danielle and Bryan, are FANTASTIC! They were great with communication, flexible, and so helpful! They are there from the beginning to end and go above and beyond to ensure the most magical day. The spacious grounds are flawless, the inside is elegant and every detail was perfect. We chose the most amazing location for our special day and cannot recommend Barn 1888 enough!

I absolutely loved this venue! Everything was beautiful and went smoothly. They even let me bring my horse to ride down the isle on! Our dogs were there for the ceremony as well. It was a chilly day and they had really nice heaters on in the barn for us. The staff was friendly and attentive and did a great job of cleaning up as the night went on. We didn't have any issues the whole day. We had plenty of time to set up everything the morning of and they were there to help the entire time from open to close. Getting everything ready up to the wedding day was very well organized and planned as well. Danielle likes her spreadsheets which was very appreciated by me!We were asked to clean up decorations a little early and many guests thought that meant the reception was over and started to leave. That is my only \"complaint\" that really isn't a complaint because my husband and I were very ready for sleep and to be off our feet by that point!

I cannot recommend this venue enough! I fell in love with this venue from the pictures online, but in person, it was so much better! It is simply amazing. Brian and Danielle do an amazing job with how they run their venue. They are very organized and helped me prioritize what they needed from me without me even realizing it! They don't overwhelm you with information and were always prompt in answering my questions. They have put A TON of work into making the venue look amazing and even in October, the landscape was gorgeous. They did all of the set up and tear down of the venue and even helped with things the day of the wedding. They are full service owners and it made my life so much easier. I cannot tell you enough how amazing this venue and the owners are but you should definitely consider them as an option!

After meeting Danielle and Brian, we could just tell they were people who were well organized, communicative, and had put a lot of heart and soul into Barn 1888! What clearly separates this venue from the others, besides the venue being absolutely gorgeous, is the owners! They are the type of people you want to work with when planning a wedding! They communicated the entire time weâre planning the wedding and were super helpful with any questions! This is HUGE when planning a wedding! My wedding day was absolutely perfect!!! And they went the extra mile to make that happen! All my guest raved about the venue and how awesome it was! My friend told me she wanted to just lay in the grass because it was the nicest grass she has ever seen! The take such good care of the venue and it shows! If youâre picking a venue, you will be so happy if you get married at Barn 1888! Thank you so much Barn 1888 for making my dream wedding come true!

The host couple was terrific to work with! They were there the whole time on our wedding day. Even though it rained the day of our outdoor wedding, they were prepared and were able to get the wedding going once the rain stopped. The bridal suite was impressive, it had lots of space to get ready and a private bathroom. They have great landscaping and this space is so beautiful that we barely had to decorate besides the centerpieces on the tables! They let us use extra decorations that they had and responded quickly when we had questions. At the end of the wedding night, they even helped us pack up our decor so that my family could continue to have a good time. The layout of the place was also very nice. People could hang out inside, outside, upstairs, or downstairs, but no matter where they were, it still felt like we were all together. The host couple was terrific to work with! They were there the whole time on our wedding day. Even though it rained the day of our outdoor wedding, they were prepared and were able to get the wedding going once the rain stopped. The bridal suite was impressive, it had lots of space to get ready and a private bathroom. They have great landscaping and this space is so beautiful that we barely had to decorate besides the centerpieces on the tables! They let us use extra decorations that they had and responded quickly when we had questions. At the end of the wedding night, they even helped us pack up our decor so that my family could continue to have a good time. The layout of the place was also very nice. People could hang out inside, outside, upstairs, or downstairs, but no matter where they were, it still felt like we were all together. A lot of my guests told me they appreciated the layout and loved how unique it was! Overall, this was an amazing place for us to get married and I am so thankful that we chose Barn 1888!

Danielle was so easy to communicate with during the whole planning process, and they were fantastic during the day of. They spend so much time making sure the venue is perfect and it does not go unnoticed. I've told them before and I'll say it again, the landscaping is unreal, I have never seen anything like it. There were several vendors we didn't know who to use and they provided a preferred vendor list right away & we were able to find our caterer and DJ that way! Highly highly recommend this venue!

BEST DAY EVER!We got married in June at barn 1888. From the first day we saw the venue to the day of the wedding I had all but great things to say about the venue and the staff! Danielle is very responsive and was flexible with anything I wanted for my day. She was also there anytime I had a concern about how things would roll throughout the day and gave great advice on what she has seen work well in their space. I had set up appointments to view the venue and anytime I requested she made happen.Being a Friday night wedding we got to set up all our decor prior to the rehearsal dinner which made the morning of super easy! The property was spotless everything from the barn, grass area, and farm house was clean and ready to go for us. The bridal suite was a perfect size for all my girls and party members to get ready. We had 2 hairstylist and a makeup artist and they had plenty of room to work while also having enough space to socialize with my girls on the morning of.The day of everything was so smooth! Barn 1888 knows what they are doing to make a wedding just be a celebration! The outdoor chapel ceremony space was gorgeous! Talk about some amazing photos!!As for photos there are so many different spots on the venue that we utilized to get great shots! I am in awe of the photos!!!The reception and dinner went so smooth as well! We picked nighthawk catering from their preferred vendor list and EVERYONE loved the food. Between the caterer and venue They knew exactly how to set up to make sure everyone got food timely! The barn was on top of it as well. They were all friendly and fully stocked!We utilized the yard to have yard games and had a live band which I think really gave such a beautiful touch to our reception. Walking out and seeing our friends and family gathered on the back lawn enjoying ice cream, yard games and live music will forever be a core memory for me!10/10 recommend Barn1888!

Aaron and I has the pleasure of holding our wedding at barn 1888 on June 25th, 2022. I spent weeks searching for the perfect venue in southwest Michigan. The moment we arrived for a tour of the venue, my heart was set. Barn 1888 is absolutely beautiful all on itâs own- inside and out. We didnât want to deal with decorations and that was made possible because of the amazing restoration. Aside from itâs stunning appearance, it had incredible features. The bridal suite was so pretty and had all of the amenities necessary for makeup, hair, lounging, and three breastfeeding mommas! The new cocktail area was such a hit for our guests who wanted to be away from the sun when it was warm, or wanted a conversation area without missing out on the views of the dance floor. We loved being able to offer some of our special friends and family the opportunity to stay with us in the AWESOME farmhouse. It was such a nice feature for us to be able to walk across the grounds to our lodging after a night of partying! Speaking of the grounds-you can tell Danielle and Bryan poured their time and passion into the landscaping. Words and pictures donât capture it-you just have to go and see for yourself. Every detail and vision we had for our special day was made possible because of Barn 1888 and the hardworking family behind it. From carting our grandmas around in the golf cart, to opening the gates as I walked down the isle, it was all handled seamlessly. From the meticulously manicured grounds to the beautiful flowers to the gorgeous barns you can tell that no detail is forgotten. The owners are constantly caring for this venue and it is obvious. You will not find a nicer setting anywhere. Bryan and Danielle were gracious hosts from the start of the day until the end of the night. Everything ran so smoothly and Bryan and Danielle were available on site the whole day to help. Thank you Barn 1888 for creating a magical day for our family.

Danielle was amazing from our first visit, she is so sweet and answered any questions we had and was always available by email and responded so quickly (which is a major plus when youâre a stressed brideđ). When we toured Barn 1888 they immediately stood out to us because instead of them saying \"you would have to do this and that\" they said \"We do this and that for you\". Danielle and Brian are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to work with. I rented the venue for the full weekend and it could not have been more fun. They were flexible and willing to work with us on minor changes. I saw this venue when they were still putting it together and a year and a half later, they have turned it into a place of beauty. I have 2 more friends getting married here in the near future. Danielle and Brian were super helpful and quick to respond when there were questions. I can't say enough good about it, because they were awesome. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking for a barn venue.

A beautiful venue at an amazing price. The owners are constantly improving the venue - what we saw a year ago was nowhere near what we saw for our actual wedding, and we thought the venue was amazing a year ago! The owners are friendly, kind, helpful, and always looking for ways to make weddings at Barn 1888 even better. The owners also provided us with a list of their preferred vendors for everything from music to cakes, which was so helpful for planning (especially if you're from out of town!).The barn itself is beautiful, and both the barn and the grounds offer tons of unique photo ops. The bridal suite is spacious and equipped with a great space to get ready with hair, makeup, etc. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. The whole venue is extremely clean - it's not the sit-on-hay-bales kind of barn! The lawn and gardens are lush and private, so you don't have a bunch of strangers craning to get a look at your party, but the venue is within 10-15 minutes of excellent hotels and restaurants. We had many out-of-town guests and no one had trouble finding a hotel room. The upper part of the barn is absolutely beautiful with lights and drapings - the photos don't do this venue justice.The venue can accommodate large weddings but doesn't feel strange or empty with smaller weddings either. We only had 54 guests and we felt neither crowded nor like the room had an awkward emptiness. Our guests enjoyed the nice variety of outdoor seating, and there's plenty of room for yard games. Everything is wheelchair/handicapped accessible.The only notes I had were: 1. The venue is not air conditioned (but the bridal suite is). The doors were all open, which let in a nice breeze, and I didn't hear any guests complain about the heat, but after all the dancing and running around to take photos, there's not many opportunities to cool down indoors. Our wedding was at the end of September, and it was 85 degrees outside, tolerable inside. If you're having your wedding in July or August, you may not want to invite 300 people to share the non-air-conditioned space. On the plus side, because it's not air-conditioned, all the doors were open, which let in lots of nice, fresh air.2. Some of our older guests were a bit frustrated with the placement of the dance floor. The dance floor is located on the lower level of the barn, while dinner is on the top level. The older guests wanted to enjoy the \"beautiful upstairs area\" but still be able to sit and watch the dancers. There is a balcony that you can see the lower level through, and there is some limited seating on the lower level, but if you're wanting lots of guests to be able to sit and watch the dance floor, you may want to specify that you would like some extra seating on the lower level or near the balcony. (We had our first dance on the upper level, so there was no issue with guests seeing that portion of the evening; there just isn't much room for lots of people to dance all at once on the top floor.)Even with those minor caveats, this venue absolutely deserves the full 5 stars! You won't regret choosing Barn 1888 - this was the first venue we toured, and we booked it on the spot. Absolutely worth it!

Danielle and Bryan Howart have created a beautiful venue at Barn 1888. They were amazing from the first day we toured the Barn. The wedding day went just perfectly. They had different items available for us to use which was so nice. We needed a sign to be up a little higher and Danielle ran off and found the perfect little crate. They are the BEST! We chose the venue before they were even finished working on it, we just knew it would be amazing because of how much love and passion Danielle and Brian put into it. They were more than amazing to work with, easy to communicate with, and made sure our day was everything we imagined! From the very first tour, they answered any and all questions we had. The barn and chapel are so beautiful along with the rest of the grounds. There are so many options when it comes to a âbackgroundâ for your pictures, and the sunset on the property is amazing! Honestly we will recommend this place to anyone and everyone that asks about a venue! We canât thank them enough for making our wedding day so perfect! â¤ď¸

This was the first venue my fiancĂŠ and I toured, but we new right away that we wanted this place for our special day! Not only is the venue absolutely the most beautiful place, but the owners Danielle and Bryan are SO kind! Theyâre flexible and have so many things to offer at no charge (wine barrels, buckets, tables for everything, table, table covers and so much more)! My photographer also had a ball with pictures. My guests had room to move around outside, in the shade, stay inside (upstairs or downstairs). Lastly, I felt so at ease the week of the wedding! I had very little decorations because the barn truly didnât need it, and Danielle was so helpful through everything! 100% recommend Barn 1888!!

Where do I even begin? First, the venue. It was stunningly beautiful - the grounds, the barn itself, the outside chapel, the upper and lower levels of the barn...there was so much space for our guests to mingle, play lawn games, etc. The owners Danielle and Bryan put their heart and soul into this place, and they did a phenomenal job. The dance floor was MASSIVE, and ours was packed the entire night (plenty of space for a DJ, photobooth, tables and chairs and STILL so much room for dancing, and we had close to 200 guests). Getting ready in the bridal suite was so much fun, there was a ton of space and plenty of room to get ready. You want a location with great pictures? There is NO shortage of that at this venue. Every corner of the inside and outside of this barn is incredible for pictures, for us AND our guests. We received so many compliments about the venue itself, including guests who are already married that WISH they got married there instead. I cannot say enough good things about this venue. BOOK. THIS. VENUE.Next, the owners. Danielle and Bryan at Barn 1888 are incredible. They went above and beyond to ensure our day was pristine. The most down-to-earth people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. It's a family-run business, and we had the pleasure of meeting their kids as well, who were just phenomenal all night. For our ceremony outside near the chapel, Bryan was kind enough to golf cart my grandmother down to the front row so she didn't have to walk down (she recently had an injury). She kept raving about his kindness in doing so, and we would have to agree. Danielle is also a nurse and had to get up at 4 AM the next morning for work and was there at the barn until well past midnight to ensure folks got home okay and to assist with our clean-up. From start to finish, Danielle and Bryan were communicative, professional, and SO kind. We had family in from Mexico and we were a rowdy bunch, lots of drinking and dancing, and they just rolled with the punches and made sure everyone was having a great time. I genuinely want to thank them for making our wedding so perfect - we miss them already and I'll recommend them to everyone.I was a Covid bride who moved her date 4 times due to the pandemic, and was anxiously awaiting this wedding. It was the PERFECT day, all thanks to Barn 1888, Danielle, and Bryan. I truly don't have enough positive things to say about them, and I recommend all brides/grooms to check them out, as I know they're going to get booked up :)THANK YOU for making our wedding dreams come true! If I could give 10 stars, I would. We love you guys!!!!

The flowers are thriving and there are so many perfect spots for photos that you're all set for everything being on the property. For anyone who is looking for that perfect barn wedding, Barn 1888 is the one! Everything about it was absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I went and visited the barn in February of 2021 in a snow storm for a tour, and after seeing the barn and talking to Brian and Danielle we knew this was going to be the one! We werenât able to see any landscaping, or any updates they were going to make that spring. The Monday before we got married we went to the barn and did last minute walk through one last time before our big day, and we were amazed on how different it looked. The landscaping, flowers, the chapel was beautiful. I couldnât be more excited to have this barn be the barn we got married at! Brian and Danielle were so easy to work with, and made the whole wedding planning a piece of cake. My husband and I are so thankful for them! They really did an amazing jobđ

We absolutely loved the barn, both Daniel and Brian were wonderful. We appreciated their flexibility, competence and willingness to help us with anything we needed. We canât even think of anything we would change if we could!

Brian and Danielle go above and beyond to ensure that your day runs smooth! On top of a beautiful venue, they never hesitated to bring your dreams to life! We needed something hung the day of the wedding and they went to get a screw to make it happen! Always attentive, ready to step in and help in any way needed! I would highly recommend this venue.

Barn 1888 was the perfect location for our wedding ceremony and reception! They were so professional and organized, making our wedding day perfect. The location was gorgeous. The barn was newly renovated barn and the outside spaces were beautiful. They were accommodating for all our requests, including having our dog present for ceremony and reception! Our family was able to rent the farm house to stay for evening which was adorable, clean, and large enough for my entire family.Couldnât have asked for a more prefect venueđ
