Historic Barn & Airy Solarium on 30 Gorgeous Acres
Battlefield Bed and Breakfast is a historical venue in Gettysburg, PA. This Civil War-era barn and farmhouse features both indoor and outdoor spaces to host your wedding. The farmhouse originally belonged to abolitionists Anna and Cornelius Houghtelin and was the headquarters for General Merritt during the Civil War. Most historically, this property is known for being the site of General Merritt's encampment during the Battle of Gettysburg and is a privately owned part of the Gettysburg South Cavalry Battlefield. With time, the property became a bed and breakfast. With an expansive ground and three buildings on-site, this is the perfect opportunity to make the wedding of your dreams come true. The 1820’s Historic Barn, which houses a dressing room, can host a guest count of 140. The Solarium is a beautiful venue with a lot of natural light, cathedral ceiling and chandeliers. The fireplace in the Solarium was designed by Victorian architect Frank Furness. This is an ideal space for a ceremony or reception with a capacity of 79 guests. Outdoor ceremonies can be arranged either in The Wedding Garden and the Front Patio Garden. The Great Lawn is an equally stunning space for the same. With stone walls, fire-pit circle, split rail fences, ponds, and woods, Battlefield Bed & Breakfast makes for a truly picturesque backdrop. The Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Inn offers overnight accommodations, inside the Farmhouse, one in the Historic Barn, and a private cottage. Additionally, preparation suites can be used as and when required. Outside vendors are allowed and the venue can provide tables, chairs, and linens. The staff will work hard to give you the wedding you deserve.

Words are not enough to express how perfect the staff at Battlefield B&B made our wedding. We had a wedding weekend with 120 guests and were able to host a great rehearsal dinner and magical reception the next day! Connie and her team thought of absolutely everything. Despite having constant rain on the day of the wedding, no one noticed because the venue is absolutely amazing. If you are looking for versatility, perfection and the best dedicated coordinator and staff, look no further!

We couldn't have asked for a better experience with Battlefield Bed and Breakfast! We stumbled upon this venue while browsing the Knot and scheduled a tour on a whim. Within minutes of finishing our visit, we both knew this was where we were supposed to get married. Connie was responsive, professional, helpful, and so much fun throughout the entire process. We took a gamble having a November wedding, but Connie made sure we had backup plans in place for inclement weather. Thankfully the weather cooperated, and we didn't have to use those plans, but it took so much stress off of us knowing we wouldn't have to worry about it on our day. We wouldn't change a thing about our wedding and would recommend Battlefield Bed and Breakfast a thousand times!

We are so thankful we chose here to have our wedding. The site and the staff were amazing leading up and the weekend. Our dog was welcomed as family. It did end up raining and it was a flawless transition to inside.

What a great experience !! I couldn’t have picked a better place to have my wedding . The staff went beyond the level of service to ensure that everything was in place and perfect for our special day .. The attention to details were incredible and the vision was exactly what I wanted. The setting was just perfect….the pathway to the outside pergola was a perfect place to begin the walk to a new forever !!! The atmosphere was relaxed and refined, with a touch of class to add to a perfect day . Constance is incredible!! I mean Incredible. When we talk about a strong care factor , an eye for what should be, and a personality of a life time friend .. that would be Connie !!! I will tell everyone I know the special touch and the hard work to provide a service to meet and go beyond the call of duty was done by Connie . Thank you Connie , Thank you Battlefield Bed and Breakfast for a great experience , welcoming us like we were family and providing an unforgettable time !! We will be back to celebrate our 1 year anniversary!!! Already in the plans .. The accommodations were also perfect for the wedding package that we picked . I’m am beyond words in how much we loved Battlefield Bed and Breakfast! I’m a very indecisive person but when it came down to the venue and scrolling I came across Battlefield Bed and Breakfast, instantly I thought.. wow this place is beautiful and the perfect mixture in style of modern, historical, and full of beautiful nature for me and my now husband Dustin! It only got better from there when we visited and decided then and there to book the venue! First venue we even looked at. If you know me that’s surprising to choose something so quick. Connie, we might as well call her “The most Amazing Coordinator”made the planning process seamless and answered ALL of my million questions. It made my indecisions go away and have a calm experience rather than stressful which some brides can run into. If you go into these big life events with a calm mindset you’re doing great :)! For someone who likes to plan and give details so everything is organized knowing I wasn’t going to be able to set up most things due to having to not be seen the day of the wedding until I walk down the aisle. It was tough but came to realize once I started (with the help of my friends and family helping me realize) that the venue had the plans and set everything up day of. Connie took pictures for me and sent them to show what was set up which was special to know what the reception area looked like since the bride doesn’t always get to see that until the actual reception. Connie also coordinated with the vendors and made sure the timeline and all was consistently updated. And not once did I see her without a cheerful smile! This experience there at our wedding made it 100% more happy, excited and beautiful! I mean the place was gorgeous! So many flowers, a DOG park (so grateful our dogs could be there with us on a special weekend) and little doggie treats for the pups! The beds were comfy, the rooms were beautiful, the views were eye catching. It was very clean and the breakfast was served to us in the suite I was staying on for the bride the night before for me and my bridesmaids. It felt luxurious! For breakfast they even added little flowers on the plate straight from their garden. My brother, sister-in-law and niece are vegan and we’re provided every accommodation for the breakfast. I heard raving reviews about how delicious it was and how thankful they were for the option. My family and friends who stayed loved the place! We’re still getting compliments on how beautiful it was and how accommodating Battlefield Bed and Breakfast was. Dustin and I loved the stay, experience, the food, the beauty, and couldn’t have picked a better place to have our wedding. We had an amazing day and beautiful weather with a gorgeous sunset! I cannot wait to visit again to remember all the special memories we had there. If I haven’t explained enough reach out to Connie to also experience the venue and experience a memorable time. Let me just say - Wow! We were married here in October 2022 and genuinely could not have chosen a better venue. Battlefield B&B was our top choice when hunting for a wedding location and we couldn’t be happier with the experience and value. Connie and all of the staff are fantastic, patient, helpful, and professional! You are in such good hands with them. As a bride who likes to DIY a lot (and can be a little type A) it was so great to get to step back day of and just watch the magic happen! The venue itself is incredibly gorgeous! From the lovely ceremony location choices, beautiful and natural photo op spots, and magically lit barn reception the whole wedding looks like a fairy tale.Lastly, the B&B and it’s wonderful staff make you feel like you’re at your (much nicer than usual) home. Our family and bridal party was fortunate enough to stay at the B&B which added so much comfort and convenience to the whole weekend. Plus instead of just enjoying our wedding day we were so lucky to extend our amazing experience to a full weekend!Seriously, we cannot recommend Battlefield Bed and Breakfast enough. We had so many guests tell us how our wedding was one of the most beautiful and most fun weddings that they had attended. We just got married here and I can’t recommend it enough. Great location, beautiful inside area, outside garden area and beautiful architecture, plenty of parking, beautiful view. It was my dream venue and I’m in love with it. The whole staff is amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. They also work with a lot of great vendors that they recommend to you. And got to play with all the kitties.

It was my dream venue and I’m in love with it. The whole staff is amazing and was so helpful the entire way through. They also work with a lot of great vendors that they recommend to you. And got to play with all the kitties.

Perfect to host an entire wedding weekend. It was really important for us to have everyone on site together to relax and celebrate over a holiday weekend. We were able to do a welcome event with ghost stories around the fire the first night. Everyone morning at breakfast the guests and our kids were able to enjoy the company and historical demonstrations. The wedding itself was beautiful and went smoothly but I think what really makes them special is their ability to make an entire weekend run smoothly and to let everyone relax together. I came out of the weekend super relaxed because of the atmosphere they provide at their little oasis.

Battlefield Bed and Breakfast was an excellent venue!! We chose to rent out the entire property for the weekend. Had our rehearsal dinner wedding and more then half of our wedding guests stay the whole weekend with us. Connie handled any and every problem we ran into. She was with us the whole weekend. The rest of the staff especially JD who is the evening concierge was amazing. He interacted with our family and friends and made us feel right at home. If I had to do it again I would 100times over there!! It’s also pet friendly. We have an Ice loving black lab that the staff also made sure he has ice when ever he needed it!

Battlefield Bed and Breakfast was an excellent venue!! We chose to rent out the entire property for the weekend. Had our rehearsal dinner wedding and more then half of our wedding guests stay the whole weekend with us. Connie handled any and every problem we ran into. She was with us the whole weekend. How many ways can I explain how phenomenal this venue is? Our entire weekend was absolutely beautiful, not just because the property is lush and gorgeous but because Connie and the rest of the staff are next level. My wife and I arrived for the weekend on Thursday evening and were greeted kindly. On Friday we were able to begin our setup at 10am and the team members at the BnB couldn't have been more helpful! We were provided with things like ladders for the tall ceilings of the barn and very quick help with things like removing tables etc. We had our rehearsal there on Friday and for the rehearsal dinner ordered pizza from Antica Napoli (on Connie's recommendation!) and had the BnB's storyteller give us some ghost stories around the fire. It was a totally fun and unique dinner! The extra pizza was packed up and put in the fridge without us even needing to ask. Day of was nothing short of magical! We ended up with a running joke that Connie is a wizard. During our first dance I lost a ring (not THE ring haha) that was super tiny. Connie caught wind of this and found it quickly!! Connie also happened to keep my aunt who was in a boot from tumbling over at one point in the evening haha. The venue couldn't be better for the beautiful weather we had. We had the barn doors open and made use of all the outdoor space all evening. Having everything in one spot -- our closest family & friends staying at the BnB, our getting ready spaces being our beautiful rooms, the ceremony being down the path in the beautiful woods and our reception in the barn -- was SO convenient and allowed us to spend our day just having fun and being with each other and the people we love.Guests couldn't stop asking us how we found this incredible space! As a visibly queer couple our venue search in this area of PA did get us a few stressful comments. To find this perfect venue that was queer owned with tried and true queer friendly recommended vendors was a HUGE weight off our shoulders. I couldn't imagine having gotten married anywhere else!

Our entire weekend was absolutely beautiful, not just because the property is lush and gorgeous but because Connie and the rest of the staff are next level. My wife and I arrived for the weekend on Thursday evening and were greeted kindly. On Friday we were able to begin our setup at 10am and the team members at the BnB couldn't have been more helpful! We were provided with things like ladders for the tall ceilings of the barn and very quick help with things like removing tables etc. We had our rehearsal there on Friday and for the rehearsal dinner ordered pizza from Antica Napoli (on Connie's recommendation!) and had the BnB's storyteller give us some ghost stories around the fire. It was a totally fun and unique dinner! The extra pizza was packed up and put in the fridge without us even needing to ask. Day of was nothing short of magical! We ended up with a running joke that Connie is a wizard. During our first dance I lost a ring (not THE ring haha) that was super tiny. Connie caught wind of this and found it quickly!! Connie also happened to keep my aunt who was in a boot from tumbling over at one point in the evening haha. The venue couldn't be better for the beautiful weather we had. We had the barn doors open and made use of all the outdoor space all evening. Having everything in one spot -- our closest family & friends staying at the BnB, our getting ready spaces being our beautiful rooms, the ceremony being down the path in the beautiful woods and our reception in the barn -- was SO convenient and allowed us to spend our day just having fun and being with each other and the people we love.Guests couldn't stop asking us how we found this incredible space! As a visibly queer couple our venue search in this area of PA did get us a few stressful comments. To find this perfect venue that was queer owned with tried and true queer friendly recommended vendors was a HUGE weight off our shoulders. I couldn't imagine having gotten married anywhere else!

I cannot recommend Connie enough!! What started as a dream could have ended so sadly, but she truly saved our wedding! My fiancé unexpectedly got very ill and we had to push our wedding back by two months, and Connie was so quick to offer solutions and assistance. She never once made me feel bad or anxious. Even after that, my fiancés health did not get better as quickly as expected, so we fully anticipated having to completely cancel our wedding. Again Connie jumped right in and offered amazing solutions and we are now going to have a smaller, more intimate version of our original plan! The barn is just stunning, the floor is original (was a field hospital during the war so that’s cool!) and has beautifully strung hanging lights all over!! The packages offered are truly reasonable, and I can’t gush over how beautiful the grounds are! I love that it’s a family owned business, you can truly tell by the customer service provided. I never felt like just another dollar sign, ever. I cannot recommend Battlefield B&B enough, and Connie!!!!!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Connie, the staff, and this venue! We eloped in the Spring of 2021 at this farm, and also just had our delayed reception here in Fall of 2021. The farm is beautiful, comfortable, and memorable. Connie and the staff, are extra awesome and the icing on the cake. Highly recommend - you will have everything just as you want it with smiles and positive energy every step of the way.

My wife and I couldn't have asked for a better wedding venue! This is such a beautiful place to get married. We really went into this not knowing much about planning weddings or the reception (both our first and only wedding) but she made us feel at ease and made it so easy to plan. She was super nice and friendly and extremely helpful with the set up and clean up. We did an small elopement package and a room came with the package and I couldn't believe how amazing our room was! It was bigger than we expected and so nice and clean. The grounds are beautiful, the inside of the inn was beautiful, but the thing that really got me is there were CATS roaming the outside! My wife and I are huge cat lovers and this was such a great little treat! They keep their kitties well taken care of and spayed/neutered. Connie and her team made our day so special and beautiful and we will never forget it. We WILL be coming back to the inn for our 1 year anniversary.

A historical morning lecture is included in your stay (we loved the presentation by Steve Gunlock) followed by the most delicious breakfast you’ve ever had. Want to make friends? Stop by in the evening during social hour for a chat and a glass of local wine! Animal lover? The B+B is dog friendly and home to a slew of rescue cats and horses! Every time we’ve stayed here it’s been a relaxing and wonderful experience- and we’ll continue to stay there whenever we’re in Gettysburg! As a Wedding Venue-WOW. The grounds are stunning. The property has lots of spaces (fields, gardens, a solarium, a historic barn) that you can use for different elements of your wedding. We used the beautiful wedding garden for our ceremony, the deck and solarium for our cocktail hour, and the barn for our reception and the farewell brunch the following morning. My husband and I just got married on August 8th,2015. We had a military style wedding, so Gettysburg was right down the path of the style and the history. Debbie and Florence were amazing! They helped and made sure that our day was perfect! They came up and checked on everything and re insured that everything looked great! They work with you from the time you book the venue up until the next day cleaning up! We had our rehearsal dinner there in the solarium room and it was just nice having everyone in one place and not having to drive all over the place and also the reenactment was going on so it made it nice not having to go out in town and sit in traffic! Great spot, great people. The breakfast in the mornings was so good. It was different both mornings and I can tell you no one missed that! So Give Debbie a call if you would love to have you wedding held there! They do book up fast but it is so worth the wait! And the tables and chairs and the linings are included. So that makes it so much easier and less people you have to deal with. But just over all great people, beautiful place to have the greatest day of your life at! My husband and I will always go back for stays at the B&B! Thank you so much for all you ladies did for us!

we knew we wanted a barn wedding from the beginning, and once we starting visiting several barns, we found out about the shortcomings of having a barn wedding. barns don't have bathrooms! most barns have an old roof that will leak if it rains! \r\rbut not this barn! \r\rthe owners installed two nice bathrooms inside the barn! this was super important to us, as we wanted to accommodate our older guests, and also i did NOT want to go to the bathroom in a port a pot in my wedding dress!!! also, they installed a new roof that does not leak in case it rains. \r\ralso, since it's a b&b, some of our guests decided to stay the weekend, and we were able to spend more time together, which was really special. your wedding goes by in a flash, but we were lucky to have family and friends around for three days!\r\rour wedding turned out beautiful, and we are so glad we booked here :)

I had my wedding in Gettysburg, PA at the Battlefield Bed & Breakfast. What a beautiful venue! We rented the whole B&B for our wedding party, they absolutely loved it! The ceremony was held in a tent on the front lawn of the B&B and the reception was held in beautiful historic barn they have. Florence the Innkeeper is really sweet. We got off to a rocky start with emails and mix ups, but it all came together the days leading up to the wedding. I would not recommend this to a bride with a large wedding or who is getting married during hurricane season! It poured the week before the wedding, and we had to change things up 2 days before. Originally, the reception was suppose to take place in a tent and the ceremony in the barn. But, because the ground was so wet and muddy we had to switch it up. Everything came together great and we had a beautiful sunny fall day!

Meet the Battlefield Bed and Breakfast Team
Constance Tarbox, Innkeeper & Event Coordinator (Manager) The daughter of owner Florence March, Constance began working at the B&B when she was 16 years old.After moving to NYC for college, she spent 25 years acting, directing, and producing theater. One of these productions introduced her to Lance Windish, a genius performer with whom she fell in love. Connie and Lance were married at the B&B in 2006, the first wedding in the newly updated barn. In 2017, Constance moved back home to re-join the family business. She loves getting to know our wonderful guests and bringing her producing experience to the B&B's special events.
