Couldn't have gone better!! The most perfect vibes for a Lake Tahoe wedding. I cannot say enough good things about the venue itself and the staff (especially Chelsea H, the Catering Sales Manager). We opted for an all-outdoors wedding, they offer a ceremony location RIGHT on the shore with the mountains and lake as a perfect uninterrupted backdrop (our guests were in awe). One of my favorite unexpected touches is that the first 30 ft of the aisle is lined with tall, beautiful pines then you finish the special walk on the sand looking forward to the most breathtaking view... a truly unique and special aspect of the day. And we chose the white tent for our dinner and rehearsal. Beach Retreat adds a few touches to soften the ceiling (lights and curtains) which are beautiful. The tent and dancefloor both have sweeping views of the lake and mountains too. They have totally reasonable rules/guidelines for allowing DIY decorations and are flexible to customer asks. Chelsea specifically was so SO accommodating to all our requests and went above and beyond to make things go smoothly. She's responsive, kind, fun, always happy to help/offer guidance, and really made this whole intimidating process not only manageable, but enjoyable. I also have to give credit to the food! We chose buffet dinner, and the food was EVEN BETTER on the night of than when we did the tasting! We got so many compliments from guests that it was \"the best wedding food they'd ever had.\" Chelsea's team, from reception desk to bartenders, were all cheery and congratulatory which calmed nerves and set the tone for the whole weekend. OH and the Tiki Bar is such and added perk! Our bridal party and family loved spending their downtime there and it was a perfect on site spot to grab post-rehearsal drinks. I literally cannot picture having our wedding anywhere else, it was everything we could have hoped for and more. Reviewed on 07-07-2023

We had our wedding at The Beach Retreat & Lodge at South Lake Tahoe on September 22 and it was absolutely perfect! The venue is beautiful, the staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating, and the food was delicious. We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our special day. Here are a few things we loved about The Beach Retreat & Lodge: - We chose the beach ceremony and the beach tent reception for our 34 guests. The views were absolutely stunning. I would suggest getting a microphone and speaker. The waves of the lake overpowered our musician and officiant and it was hard for our guests to hear. - The staff, especially Chelsea, was super helpful and accommodating throughout the process and wedding weekend. - The food was amazing! We opted for the passed appetizers and buffet. Our guests were so impressed with the food, that they were still talking about it the next day. - The location was perfect. It's close enough to the casinos, but far enough to enjoy the serene location. Our guests enjoyed the ease of being able to travel to all the beautiful sites. We would highly recommend The Beach Retreat & Lodge to anyone looking for a picturesque and memorable wedding venue. Reviewed on 20-10-2023

The ceremony area, reception building, and reception tent are so beautiful. It’s truly a beautiful place to get married. The fire pits and s’mores at night were so much fun. Even the tiki bar was a lot of fun. The hotel sits in a great area where there’s a trail to walk into town and a grocery store across the street. There’s a super cute wine bar a block away. The reason I gave this place low stars is because the hotel rooms are not that great. They are run down and definitely not worth what they charge for them. The shower water does fluctuate based on people using it. Also, our sales manager was terrible! She tried charging us more money and I had to prove she provided the invoice based on our request. She also tried to charge us for 6 kids meals when all along we told her we would only have one kid. Even the document we provided showed 1 kids meal. It was very disappointing I had to do her job for her and keep resending things I’ve already provided. What’s worse is there was no apologies for the misunderstanding. I was happy I didn’t see her the day of the wedding and was done working with her. She is a very nice person, but is terrible at her job. We had to remind her to take out our payments when they were due, so essentially we did her job for her. Also, the manager at the hotel was terrible. My mom, sister, brother, and I had to have 4 different key cards because they kept deactivating them. This was in a matter of 2 days. This was all because we had to make 2 reservations for the rooms because the wedding code for the rooms didn’t start until Thursday and we got to the hotel on Tuesday. The manager just said he’d look into it. The night we got married our coordinator accessed our room to put all the decor up there and once we got to the room the card was deactivated. We felt we couldn’t enjoy our vacation because we were in the lobby a lot! Also, house keeping unannounced themselves and just opened the door to our room and suddenly left. This is very unprofessional. I had to call the desk to ask if it was housekeeping or did they give our room to someone else. If you want a beautiful wedding, this place is definitely it, but just know it may come with headaches. Reviewed on 12-10-2023

We had the best wedding here, we wish we could do it again! The view was amazing! We did the beach ceremony and tent reception. It was so much fun to be by the lake and dance all night! The setup was perfect and was easy to get to after the ceremony. The only small thing was the beach was a little crowded and not as private as we would like but the venue and coordinators made sure they were out of the way of the ceremony and that it was quiet. Chelsea was great to work with and was quick to explain or answer any questions we had. Reviewed on 04-10-2023

Where do I start? Originally, we had planned a winter 2024 wedding at Beach Retreat Lodge. We headed up on a snowy day in December (actually got stuck in a blizzard) and Chelsea came out in her boots ready to hike through 2 feet of snow to show us the grounds. She even took a picture of us for our engagement photo. We felt comfortable right away. We had everything nailed down and then decided to elope in August of 2023. We were able to move our deposits, create a new plan with smaller crowd and all the while Chelsea was there helping every step of the way. Answering every question, multiple emails, and calls. Our wedding was perfect. The ceremony on the beach was beautiful. Not only did we find the perfect venue, I know we will come to visit Beach Retreat to visit Chelsea and enjoy the resort even more. The location is beautiful, right on the beach. Super convenient to everything in town. The food was awesome, having the tiki bar right on the beach was a huge plus. Most of the guests hung out here all weekend. Chelsea was helpful as the Sales Manager but you'll definitely want to hire a wedding coordinator if you choose this place. If you're wedding is after 5pm, Chelsea will not be there to help direct staff or anything else. Some of the outdoor lights weren't working for our reception and no heaters were made available to us. But the next night when they had an event, everything worked and was out.Staff was EXTREMELY rude. Because we didn't opt to hire a coordinator, we had to start setting up early which apparently was an issue with the staff... they made lots of rude comments to guests and family while setting up and take down of the event. Such as \"We love our job but you have to get the F*** out.\" We stayed for a week, we weren't able to get our room cleaned until the very last day even though we called every single morning for them to do so. Imagine setting up for a wedding (flowers, bridesmaids, decorations etc) and not having anyone clean that up for a week. When they did come clean, we actually asked them NOT to because we would not be there and we had wedding gifts and a lot of trash all over(from setting up a wedding) that we wanted to help with. We even put the DO NOT DISTURB SIGN ON THE DOOR, they completely violated our privacy and went in and cleaned anyways. on the last day! LOL. Obviously mad, we went to the front desk to complain and the receptionist actually told us to F*** Off and flipped the bird. Someone else came out and fired her on the spot. There was another instance when housekeeping just walked into our room the morning of checkout before check out time... no knock or anything. Not cool at all. Just atrocious service and respect from the employees of this place. On top of all that our suite had a leaking sink and broken shower door. You'd think that after spending $30k++ for this place that'd you'd get some basic service and amenities. No phone service in this particular spot on the lake and their WiFi at Beach Retreat is even worse. Like I said the location is beautiful and convenient, but a lot of places in Tahoe are. Weddings aren't cheap in Tahoe but your money will go much further somewhere else. The place is run down and understaffed and overbooked. Chelsea did offer us a little less than 10% back of the total cost which was nice but its still a lot of money to have a sour taste in your mouth afterwards. Reviewed on 17-07-2023

Everything from clear and quick communications, to the beautiful tasting, to the actual wedding day! The staff were so nice and accommodating, the food was AMAZING (something we were worried about, but everyone raved about the food as we knew they would), and the setting speaks for itself, it was so beautiful. Definitely a bonus that we got to access the pier for photos. I literally can't think of anything the venue did wrong! The only mixups were a result of my personal wedding coordinator (not Chelsea, but someone else I hired for day-of), so for any future brides/grooms out there, I would recommend getting a wedding coordinator who is local (mine was not local and we were not pleased with some of the stuff she got wrong). Except for the wedding coordinator, we used all vendors that were on the venue's preferred vendor's list and they all KILLED IT! Absolutely fabulous! Traci Nordell(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2021 Very disappointed in the service from Beach Retreat, during Covid and later when we ultimately had to cancel our event. The lack of communication was extremely frustrating. We understand these were difficult times but we paid a very large deposit and expect a level of service, or at least communication. The horrible service is part of the reason we cancelled, in addition to concerns with Covid. I heard of other venues being easy to work with and allow dates to be pushed out but Beach Retreat guilted you for being concerned and refused to let you do anything until 60 days out. Who can plan a wedding in 60 days, especially in the middle of a pandemic. Not to mention the respect for vendors, leaving them hanging because the venue has us backed into a corner. After cancellation the communication got even worse, I didn’t think that was possible, but it took multiple attempts to get confirmation that our room booking and all of our guests rooms were cancelled. Even worse, the week of the planned wedding date, we and all of our guests received emails confirming our stay. When calling the front desk to re-confirm cancellation, she was rude. Additionally, supposedly we get our deposit back if they book a wedding for our date of similar size and I have made many attempts to get ahold of them to confirm if they re-booked, of course NO REPLY. Obviously they need our deposit to survive. Beach Retreat is a facade. Location is great but their service is horrible and wedding team employees left multiple times during our 2 year planning process which typically means they don’t treat their employees right. Be careful of this place. Your wedding day or wedding cancelation is stressful enough without horrible service from the venue. Reviewed on 01-08-2021

John Ireland(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-10-2016 We loved this location the second we saw it. We had a great initial meeting with the facility and obtained a quote. Unfortunately, it went down hill from there. We set up a meeting to sign the contract and they were supposed to have the contract to us two weeks in advance of the meeting. A week prior I emailed and called to follow up and no one would return my calls or emails. Two days before I finally got ahold of someone and got the contract however they forgot to out our meeting on the calendar. Additionally, they originally were not going to honor part of the quote and only when I provided the quote they gave me with the information written in their handwriting, did they honor it.Since we were planning our wedding a year in advance, I figured the communication would get better the closer we got to the date, but it did not. They would not respond to our emails until I sent follow up emails. They would not provide us with the information we requested in a timely manor. There were always excuses and we were constantly told that they had other events happening. When I finally expressed my concerns I was told that I needed to let the past be the past and move on, that I was difficult to work with and their staff was scared to work with me, that my wedding was not a \"big\" event for their facility, and that I should consider switching venues. Given the amount of stress this venue caused me during this time, I would have gladly moved our wedding to another venue however we did not have time and everything was already printed with their venue on it. I ended up hiring a day-of coordinator because I had no faith in the facility. About three weeks prior to our wedding date we had to escalate our issues up their chain of command and our day-of coordinator had to step in. In the last couple of weeks leading up to the wedding we had to go over everything we had thought we had already accomplished again. The only reason I am giving them two stars instead of one is that they did eventually pull it all together and we had the wedding we dreamed of. If you do choose to go with this venue, please go into it knowing they will cause you lots of unnecessary stress. This facility was by far the hardest vendor we worked with during the planning of our wedding. Also, get everything in writing. Reviewed on 30-10-2016
