Be exceptionally careful about booking this venue for a summer wedding. The staff will tell you that because the tent is by the lake, it is much cooler. This is not true at all. Our daughter's wedding was 8/6/22 and the tent was sweltering. The wedding would have been perfect if it would not have been for the heat. They set up big fans which did little to cool our guests. The fans blew the table decorations over and put the candles out. Their wedding coordinator Sarah Zins was also difficult to get ahold of and did not return questions by email promptly. My daughter left her bouquet and veil in the bridal suite. We called when we realized and were told it was not there. We had to get the manager involved and it was then that the bouquet and veil were found. I felt that there should have been a lot more support provided for the price of the venue. Their bartending staff, servers and culinary staff was excellent. It is an absolutely stunning location. When you have an outdoor venue, you should have a contingency plan in place for the hottest days of the year. It was actually cooler outside of the tent!

A beautiful venue and a lovely place for a wedding and a reception. The planning and support leading up to the event was great and everything went exceptionally well. What a gorgeous venue! I am from the Madison area but currently live in San Francisco, and we really wanted to show our CA friends and my fiance's family the best of what Wisconsin has to offer. Everyone was blown away by Bishops Bay. The pavilion/tent is HUGE and gorgeous, and such a unique reception space (we highly recommend renting the dance floor). The outdoor ceremony area and cocktail hour area provide an amazing view of downtown Madison. Janet and her team are so competent and responsive and made planning a wedding remotely so easy. We had a pretty challenging day in terms of weather, but we never had to stress because the Bishops Bay team had a plan no matter what - and everything ended up PERFECT. The service they provided at the reception felt like fine dining, and the food was amazing. The chef was able to accommodate guests with some pretty challenging food allergies as well! It was rather pricey—We spent a lot on our package and rentals—but they had enough flexible package/a la carte options that I'm sure a budget-conscious wedding could be held there. We definitely feel that we got what we paid for and more. Highly recommend Bishops Bay!

I was very concerned that the party would flow--that guests would never be without refreshment and my expectations were very well met. The number and skill of table servers was great. You just felt taken care of. Janet, the event manager, was so helpful in walking us through how the event would unfold and made great suggestions. There was also helpful coordination with our other vendors, from florists to pontoon boat captains.

Instead she did everything she could to bring our wedding vision to life keeping in mind what we wanted to stick to budget wise. She was there for our rehearsal the evening before and helped us coordinate with vendors and her staff to make sure all went smoothly on the day of the wedding. The setting was perfect, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was absolutely delicious. We can't speak highly enough of our experience at Bishops Bay. We knew the moment we saw Bishops Bay that it was the venue for us. The location is absolutely stunning and the facilities are top notch. The view from when you enter the ground to when you walk into the ent is breathtaking. I cannot say enough good things about Janet! From our first meeting until the end of the wedding night she was on top of everything. All of the details were perfect, and it was so nice to not stress out about the reception knowing our wedding was in more than capable hands. She accommodated every detail and change with quick response time and patience with us. And the FOOD! Everyone kept raving about how amazing dinner was and how they had never had wedding food of that caliber before. Thank you to Jannet, Chef, and the rest of the Bishops Bay staff for making our night perfect!!!

With the beautiful green, lakeside lawn for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and tented reception space with the new hard floor, I knew my long search was over! Janet was fantastic to work with - quick on email responses, flexible with her time for meetings and a tasting over the Christmas holiday, and worked so well with all of our other vendors. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over ten years, our expectations were high, and everyone at Bishops Bay delivered. Service was professional and genuine, food and drinks were delicious. It was exactly what we wanted for us and our guests. Our wedding day was an absolute dream!

Bishop's Bay was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the very beginning Janet took care of everything we needed. The food is delicious and there are so many options of things to choose for your dinner. The venue is in an amazing location on the water and makes for beautiful pictures. We had the most amazing wedding at Bishops Bay and I truly would not have changed anything. My husband and I were looking in venues in the Madison area because it is halfway between my family and his, and from the moment we saw Bishops Bay we knew it would be perfect. We actually planned the majority of the wedding while he was living in Illinois and I was in California but Janet, the event coordinator, did such a wonderful job planning everything that we weren't stressed at all. Our guests could not stop telling us how perfect and beautiful the venue was. It has a great mix of different features - a beautiful outdoor area for the ceremony and cocktail hour right on the lake (and overlooking the capitol), and elegant dining area, and a more rustic-feeling patio where we had our dance. The food was absolutely delicious and they have a great selection - I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the appetizers or entrees. From start to finish, I thought everything was just perfect. All the staff at Bishops Bay was so friendly and helpful and really helped make our wedding amazing. I cannot say enough great things about this venue and we are so happy we chose to have our wedding there!

We would highly recommend Bishops Bay for hosting your wedding! We were married there in September of 2016 on the lake which was an amazing setting overlooking the Capital and Lake Mendota. Everything went flawlessly and the staff and food were great. Glad we picked Bishops Bay to host our wedding!

I absolutely recommend Bishops Bay for a wedding venue. The location is beautiful overlooking Lake Mendota, the golf course is pristine, and there are several beautiful locations for pictures. Everything from planning the food to a fireworks display over the lake was a breeze. The wedding coordinator was extremely helpful in choosing vendors and helping us save money. Everything turned out absolutely perfect!

A friend of mine had their wedding at Bishops Bay in 2016 and it was amazing! The setting was magical, the food was awesome, the staff was very accommodating and my friend kept raving about how the Event Manager made everything extremely easy and stress-free for her and the groom. Would 100% recommend this venue to everyone!
