Black Canyon Inn Reviews
Sheila Sebok(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-06-2020 This is a long reviewSummary:We are two people who are hopelessly analytical and need time to digest information before we make any decisions. After walking around Black Canyon Inn, we didn't even need to discuss it... We looked at each other and knew this was the place we were looking for. The facility is immaculate, the views are incredible, and the ambiance of the entire place led us to fall in love immediately. For as amazing as the venue is and can be seen in pictures, the part we truly cherished was the staff and their commitment to making our day a true dream come true. We booked the venue in May 2019 for a wedding date of June 2020. The staff was so attentive as we planned for our ~120 person wedding and truly shined as COVID-19 impacted our big day and worked with us to have a 10 guest wedding of our dreams. In some of the more anxious moments of our lives, the Black Canyon Inn team navigated through these unprecedented times with us and the end result was a day we'll remember forever. There's not a high enough rating I can give this venue and staff.Staff and Support:Throughout the wedding process we met with many vendors with very mixed experiences from awful to amazing. Terisa and the staff at Black Canyon Inn were the best people we worked with and were a true partner throughout the whole process. I really can't stress enough how truly professional, compassionate, and competent the entire team was. Whether it was needing help with booking rooms for family, brainstorming ideas for the wedding, working with the team on payments, or customizing packages so it fit our vision and budget, the Black Canyon team listened and did whatever they could to fulfill our wishes. As the pandemic flared, Terisa and team stayed in constant contact and assured us they'd work with us to fit safety guidelines while also having a memorable day. With less than 2 months before the day, we were forced with the realization that if we wanted to get married on our original date, it'd have to be with 10 guests max and essentially we had to plan a new wedding. They of course offered us postponement options but we were adamant we wanted to get married on our original day and the Black Canyon Inn team worked hard to make it happen and were so attentive and responsive. When they day came, everything came together perfectly. We had a minor issue with decorations and they resolved it on the fly within the hour. The staff was truly incredible on our wedding day and it went absolutely perfect. The Venue:Wow! The views are breathtaking and the entire facility leaves the impression that you are in a secluded mountain town by yourself. Every single condo we rented was immaculate and well worth the cost. We used the pond for our first touch, the pavilion for the ceremony, and the Homestead for the reception. One look at the pavilion sold it for us and we had visited multiple sites in multiple states. It truly is one of a kind. There is wildlife everywhere and everywhere you turn is an opportunity for a photo. The Homestead is so cozy and the ambiance is incredible as it reminds you of a rustic cabin with tons of space and character. Value:After visiting several venues, Black Canyon Inn is an absolute bargain provided how amazing the food, condos, overall venue, and overall professionalism of the staff was. They'll work with you on the smallest detail and will make sure you're comfortable with what you're paying for. Reviewed on 01-07-2020

We hosted our daughters wedding here. The venue is stunning. The staff was incredible. Amber was absolutely top notch as our coordinator. You can see she loves what she does. Very accommodating. The food for the reception was delicious. We highly recommend the Elk and Pork Belly. The Kitchen and wait staff were a pleasure and fun to be around. The bar staff thumbs up!!!They didn't believe us when we said there would be a lot of Coors Banquet consumed, we suggested 10 cases ( boy were we wrong) so when they were out they went to the store and bought more.We had several family members and guests stay here and everyone agrees. The room accommodations are fantastic.GOOD JOB EVERYONE! THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR EVENT AMAZZING. Reviewed on 05-11-2023

We loved the venue. Absolutely beautiful. The staff was amazing. Edith, was great to work with especially the day of the wedding. She made sure everything went smoothly and accommodate our last minute changes. The only disappointment was the food. It was not at all the quality level we experienced at the tasting. The steak was over cooked and grizzly. The verts were tough and dried out. We were told, by the chef, at the tasting that nothing would sit more than 30 minutes but I seemed like the green beans had been cooked the day before. Considering food is almost half the budget that was disappointing. If I were just reviewing the venue and the staff, they would get 5 stars. Reviewed on 05-11-2023

This is a hidden gem!! Not only is the Black Canyon Inn picturesque, the quality of the staff in beyond anything I expected. It is very evident that this staff enjoys working at Black Canyon and the level of professionalism and service is a reflection of that. From the wedding office to the kitchen staff to the servers. Amber was our day-of coordinator and did more than some wedding planners do, she was very professional and helped us with those details we may have missed without her, she also kept us on track and was truly a blessing to work with. She made this mother of the bride's job much easier! Reviewed on 04-11-2023

We had our wedding at the Black Canyon Inn- The Boulders in May 2023 and cannot say enough about how great both the venue and staff were. Corinne was very helpful when it came to navigating the payment options from start to finish. Haley was our day-of coordinator who kept everything running smoothly and checked in frequently to make sure the day was exactly as we planned. She also assisted with our rehearsal dinner at the Homestead the night before, which was incredibly helpful. We definitely could not have done it without her! The day was an absolute dream. The food and drinks were also amazing! We got lots of compliments on how delicious it was (Roast Chicken and New York Strip) as well as how beautiful the venue was. As expected, my husband and I were so busy mingling through the night that we didn't have much time to eat our meal. We were pleasantly surprised that we had 2 boxes of left overs waiting for us after the reception to enjoy in our suite. You will not be disappointed in choosing Blank Canyon for your special day! Our wedding was in June, 2023 and it couldn't have been more perfect. The bridal and grooms suites are beautiful, the views are breathtaking and the staff was amazing. The planning up to it was flawless, Corinne and Teresa both were quick to answer any questions or concerns. The day of was perfect, we stayed in the suites most of the day and our immediate family and most of our bridal party stayed on the property right across and below from the venue which made our 5 day stay even more perfect having everyone close! The only issue we had was once they shut the doors it did get very hot. We had 150 guests, it could have been that we had one of the warmer weekends without rain so it could have been the quick switch in weather....either way it didn't change a thing. I wish I could relive our wedding at BCI every year!!! Which we still intend to come up and stay on our anniversary every year we can! Reviewed on 26-08-2023

We had the most beautiful, fun wedding at The Boulders! When we first reached out, we were really disappointed to learn that their first available (non-winter) Saturday wasn't for another year + 8 months. However, Corinne completely sold us with her photos and virtual tour and we knew this was the place for us. The staff here is AMAZING. I have Celiac disease and wanted to have an entirely gluten free wedding so I wouldn't have to worry about getting sick on my wedding day. The chef, Amber, and venue staff were incredibly kind and patient with all my questions and they were able to modify almost everything we wanted to be gluten free. They even made me a special gluten and dairy free meal. The scenery here is spectacular, making for gorgeous photos and very \"wow-ed\" guests. The reception staff was SO FUN. Everyone was in a good mood, they were dancing to music with us, and even dancing while they cleaned up some spills from sloppy dancers. The bridal suite is super nice and I loved having a place to hangout while we got ready. We loved every second of our time here and it was 100% worth the wait! Reviewed on 18-08-2023

If you are considering this venue, just book it! We got married here two weeks ago and could not have asked for a better experience. We were assigned coordinator Amber and she was great. Being an out of town bride, I relied on her to help with vendors or questions that I had about things in town. She was always happy to help answer my questions or provide resources to help. Plus she worked with us to make our visions for our day happen even on the day of the wedding. The whole staff there was incredible. Our guests made multiple comments days after the wedding about how great the staff was at the venue. The views from The Boulders are insane and our guests loved all the beautiful photos they were able to take from the balconies. They all commented on how nice the indoor/outdoor spaces flowed so they always felt they were part of the celebration even when outside. The food was amazing, even our picky eaters or those who consider themselves foodies commented on how great it was, some saying it was the best wedding food they ever had. We went with the elk and grouper which honestly caused me anxiety serving something so out of the norm for a wedding but our guests loved that extra Colorado touch since the majority of our guests were from Illinois. The getting ready suites were both perfect! This space honestly creates such magic for your day. We aren't skiers, we like our mountains for hiking, so it was nice to have a venue with mountain views that didn't have ski runs, it felt true to us as a couple. Plus we loved taking a trolley into the national park for our photos since it is such a quick drive. Our out of town guests, which was most of the 120, loved the town of Estes Park. We were anxious to ask that many people to travel but we have had nothing but super positive feedback. I cannot recommend this venue and town enough! Reviewed on 10-08-2023

We had a fantastic wedding at The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn (BCI) in July 2023. From the moment we toured, the BCI team was great at providing tons of information. Once we booked, they provided recommended vendors lists, checked in regularly, and answered our many questions as they came up. Sometimes they were slow to get back to us, but ultimately answered all of our questions. I love that the venue has condos on site, it made it super easy to prep and get around on wedding day for all of our wedding party. The wedding day was perfect! We loved the bridal suite and the groom suite. The boys loved the pool table. The bridesmaids, moms, and I spent most of the wedding day in the comfy bridal suite. It was the perfect size for my wedding party of 6 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and me. We had hair and makeup in the suite and other girls who didn't have professional hair and makeup had plenty of mirror space to get ready too. The ceremony space is the obvious sell for this venue. The ceremony was gorgeous and it was so comfortable to have the indoor/outdoor feel when it was a little rainy on and off in the afternoon. We had our band bring in mics and speakers for the ceremony, as BCI said that their AV isn't reliable in the ceremony space. Our rentals worked perfectly. The cocktail hour was out on the downstairs patio. BCI brought out a bar and we did 30 min of passed appetizers. The guests raved about the little tuna tacos, but all apps were delicious! They brought a sampling of apps and some drinks to us in the bridal suite when we signed our marriage license after the ceremony. The reception was perfect! We had 100 guests across 13 tables (tables of 6-9 guests) and it was more than enough space with a big dance floor and area for our 5-piece band too! It was so great. The food was excellent, we opted for the buffet option. They brought out special plates for guests with dietary restrictions too. We did a grand exit as well, and we were able to use no-mess streamer poppers out at the front entrance. It was truly the best day! Other notes: they had us come about 4 months out from the wedding date for a tasting - this was so well put together. They invited the bride and groom, and up to 4 other guests (think parents of each partner). We tasted all the dinner options. And then they also helped us choose a bunch of the details for the day - napkins, tablecloths, how we wanted napkins folded, options for floorplans, timeline recommendations, bar and menu options, and more! They answered a ton of our questions and helped us figure out the best plan for our dream wedding. Overall, it was a gorgeous wedding day. One note: we reserved rooms onsite for our family and had a bit of a mishap with most of our rooms - my dad had called to book rooms directly, and the person who booked them put many on the wrong weekend. BCI found other places for these guests to stay, but it was a bummer to have some guests not on site. My note here is to double and triple check your reservations to make sure all room numbers and dates are correct. They helped us resolve the issues which was great, but good to be aware of. We had a wonderful experience getting married at Black Canyon Inn’s “The Boulders” with 150 guests. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and all of our guests were amazed by the views. They assign you a wedding coordinator many months ahead of your event, and Haley did a great job of patiently answering every question and making lots of customizations to our timeline, floor plan, setup, and more. The staff are efficient and experienced, and the actual wedding day went seamlessly, from parking to partying. The best part was that many of our guests stayed in the condos onsite so we had a whole weekend to see our families and spend time on the beautiful property - we even did a morning yoga session for guests outside on the lawn! I was worried about the food at first because I’m vegetarian and the chef specializes in meat dishes, but he worked with us to come up with special vegetarian options and it was delicious. We rented a few things from the venue that helped make the day easier, including an arch and a fun rustic cupcake stand. It was raining during our first look, and they brought out cute umbrellas so we could still do it outside. We did end up renting our own sound equipment for the ceremony because we heard theirs had been spotty in the past, which was an unexpected cost, but if we had fewer guests we probably wouldn’t have needed it. I am do happy with our decision to get married at Black Canyon Inn. I would definitely recommend this beautiful venue! Reviewed on 08-08-2023

We got married on April 14th, 2023, and could not have asked for a more perfect day. Planning: I was a bit nervous months before the wedding because I had sent some emails which took a while to get a response. When we had our final phone call all of my nerves were eased. They went out of their way to make sure everything was planned according to our schedule. Food: The food was amazing, multiple people told us it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. They were able to accommodate a very long list of food allergies. Ceremony: They did an excellent job at keeping everyone on schedule and communicating how many people we were still waiting on. They also gave really good advice at the rehearsal. Reception: Tables were set up perfectly! Dinner was served on time and the champagne toast was also served on time. The BCI staff packed up our leftover food and cake so we could take it back to our rooms which was super helpful! They were all nice and everyone had an amazing time. All-in-all I give BCI my highest recommendation. It was the best day of our lives and could not imagine having our special day at a different venue. Reviewed on 10-06-2023

We had literally toured a dozen venues both near our home in NY and near where I grew up in Colorado, and nothing compared with the views and the feeling that we got walking into the ceremony space at Black Canyon Inn. We really wanted to get married in the winter, so it was amazing to have a venue that allowed guests to be warm and comfortable, but with huge windows that captured the beauty of Estes Park! Our photos from during the ceremony look like a postcard with the large windows and incredible views behind! We really appreciated that Black Canyon was all-inclusive, making planning a wedding from the other side of the country much easier! The food at the venue is INCREDIBLE! We have had multiple guests tell us over and over that it was the best wedding food that they have ever had, and I couldn’t agree more! We went with a family style meal option, which allowed all of our guests to try two different proteins, and then have large bowls of passable sides! It made the dinner feel so much like a dinner party full of friends, passing food and enjoying each other’s company. When we went to our tasting (which was beautifully coordinated and planned) we were nervous about the quality of the food given some of the previous wedding food we have had, but our fears were instantly squashed and the chef at Black Canyon made sure everything was perfect on the day of the wedding. Additionally, we had a wide variety of dietary restrictions and allergies, and Black Canyon was able to accommodate all of them. This meant the world to us knowing every guest would get to enjoy the meal! While Black Canyon provides a day of coordinator, we did feel like an additional outside coordinator was necessary to put all of the final details together in the way that we wanted. Our outside coordinator did everything from putting out decorations, lighting candles, setting up the escort cards, setting up the photobooth, etc. that I don’t think the Black Canyon Coordinator would have done on top of the normal venue responsibilities.Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend this venue over and over again! Samantha Lovett(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-06-2022 **I am an overthinker and perfectionist (insert shrug emoji here).** We live in Chicago but chose Estes Park as our wedding location because of the GORGEOUS scenery. We found out about Black Canyon Inn from a guy who specializes in microweddings in CO. After perusing some of the venues he suggested, The Boulders @ Black Canyon Inn was the only one we really gravitated toward. That night, I sent out an e-mail about scheduling a venue tour and immediately received a response from Corinne which was very exciting because this was the first step in our planning process! Throughout all of our e-mailing/texting, Corinne was warm and approachable. She was prompt in her communication and was open and willing to help answer any and all questions I had leading up to the big day. She never made me feel like a question was a silly one which I greatly appreciated! During our final check-in two weeks before the wedding, I had a list of things I wanted to go over with Corinne and she took every single topic in stride and took avid notes which I appreciated because I operate the same way. She made us feel prepared and relaxed as we moved into the final sprint to the finish line. Outside of all of the pre-planning details, Corinne also dropped our guests' goody bags in their rooms, guided our families during the rehearsal, and was one of the last people I saw before walking down the aisle. If I were to give some constructive criticism of the venue, I would say that the wedding tasting was a bit chaotic. I knew it wasn't going to be an intimate tasting but I didn't realize the space would be teeming with other couples and their families. For the amount of people who were there, it was difficult to get all of our questions answered since there were only a handful of wedding team members. We ended up leaving before all of our questions were answered because decision fatigue + long periods of waiting for a team member = exhausting. My other note would be that the dates in the contract didn't always line up with deadlines we were provided via e-mail. If anything, the venue was more relaxed than their contract indicated but double check deadline dates and reach out with any questions like I did. I took the contract very literally but that wasn't necessary for every deadline. Corinne was an integral part of our experience but I would be remiss to skip over the STUNNING views and lodging that Black Canyon has. Our families were in absolute awe and our photographer was able to capture moments that we will relish forever. The venue and property felt like a literal dream and we are all still talking about it! Many guests stayed in the hotel suites (they were able to hold 6 of them for us) while others stayed in the condos on the property. The hotel suites were PRISTINE and some of them even include fireplaces and balconies (check to see before you choose yours!). All in all, we highly recommend Black Canyon Inn to any couple seeking a venue. It's a true gem.Other details for your reference: 30 guests, street tacos + beer/wine for the guys, biscuit board + mimosas for ladies (order more than you think you will need), charcuterie board for cocktail hour, Mount Meeker drink package, plated meals, photographer - Taylor Atkinson Photography, florist - Brigitte @ Floral Design of Europe Inc., makeup - Traci @ Bella Capelli, emcee - our brother-in-law, officiant - my 17 year old brother (SO GLAD WE DID THIS!), cake - family friend Reviewed on 30-06-2022

Connor Johnson(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-11-2021 This review is for the venue only and not the actual hotel portion (as we had difficulty with the hotel portion). This place was absolutely beautiful! It made my wedding day spectacular! We had our wedding in The Boulders portion, and let me tell you, that view was gorgeous! The food was delicious at the reception. Lexie was wonderful working with us and made the day of my wedding so much easier! She was able to work with my schedule and was understanding of my needs (as I am coming from Texas). Lexie worked and communicated with my wedding planner to give me the wedding of my dreams. If you have a wedding there, you definitely need to work with her! That being said, there were a few issues I wanted to bring up. We had issues with workers accusing my husband and his friends of smoking while they were getting ready, which none of them were smoking nor do they smoke. The other issue is one of the groomsmen asked for a coffee, to which the bartender said “no” and he was clearly making and drinking coffee in front of the groomsman. We finally talked to a manager and we were able to get the issue resolved. There was also an issue of threatening to kick off one of the groomsmen off the property, as he brought a closed bottle of liquor as a gift (not to drink while we were on the property). While I understand there are rules and guidelines, there are better ways to handle these situations. There were also issues with the hotel/rental stay of the wedding, but that has nothing to do with the venue (my advice though is to be cautious of the hotel management). Overall, I am very pleased and would recommend having your wedding in The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn. Reviewed on 21-01-2022

They built this spot specifically for weddings and it shows, both the ceremony site and reception area are perfectly oriented and offer unbelievable views of the surrounding mountains. What stands out more however is the people behind the scenes. They provide their own catering and a wedding coordinator. Both are bar none. Lexi ensured everything was organized and any questions we had answered. The catering team provided excellent food and perfect service. Sarah Hansen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-09-2021 THE SPACE: We truly believe we got the best views in Estes Park for our wedding at the Black Canyon Homestead. The Pavilion for our ceremony was perfect looking out on the Lumpy Ridge, and the Homestead itself had so much character that minimal decorations were required for our reception. The fact that the wedding package includes linens and place settings was really nice, so we didn't have to deal with that separately. The upstairs loft created a perfect grand entrance after our cocktail hour. The pond with bridge and the rest of the grounds were ideal for photos. THE FOOD/BAR: Several of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food that they had ever had, including local game (yes, elk). The venue accommodated our guests' dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, non-dairy, and gluten-free. Our specialty drinks were fantastic and the bartenders were friendly. COORDINATION/COMMUNICATION: Terisa was our primary contact. She was very accommodating with all of our questions and requests leading up to the big day (including having live raptors from the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program at our cocktail hour!). Having someone to greet and coordinate with all of our other vendors was super helpful and took a huge load off of us. Our rehearsal was the day before our wedding, and it was very helpful and informative. Sometimes it took Terisa a little while to respond via email (several days), but we understand that fall 2021 was an insanely busy wedding season given all the wedding postponed from 2020 (including ours), so we are certain she was juggling a zillion things and expect that the slow response time is anomalous for this year. FLEXIBILITY: This may no longer be true given the changing conditions, but we were thrilled that we had several options to postpone to fall 2021 from fall 2020 without any penalties due to the pandemic. The venue was super accommodating and flexible. We chose to postpone, but we could have also reduced to ceremony-only or canceled altogether. Reviewed on 05-10-2021

Between the view, wildlife and rustic condo quality within this cozy corner of Estes Park, this venue gave our guests a true taste of why we love Colorado.About 10 months before, we visited the property and absolutely fell in love. Black Canyon Inn stuck out to us over other venues because of the remote, quiet and “one with nature” feel that the property gave us. Cristina Santerre(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-08-2018 We selected Black Canyon Inn for our wedding ceremony location and could not have been happier with our choice. We began our search online as we were coming from Florida but knew we wanted an outdoor mountain setting for our special day. We narrowed our choices down to maybe half a dozen different options before traveling to Estes Park well in advance to see them in person. We knew this would be the best way to ensure the location we chose would be everything we wanted without any undesirable surprises. For instance one venue had a very nice background but there was a ventilation fan on a building close by that would have created a distracting noise during the ceremony. That ruled that location out for us. We never would have known this had we not visited in person. It just so happened that the Black Canyon Inn ended up being the last place we went to see. Well, it should have been the first. We could have stopped looking after that and simply went on a hike or shopped in town the rest of the day. One challenge of our first actual visit to Estes Park to see the venues was that we were there in winter with a beautiful thick fluffy blanket of fresh snow everywhere. While this was gorgeous and fairytale picturesque our wedding was going to be taking place in early August where only the mountain peaks would still have any snow on them. So, we had to use our imagination a little to get the full picture. That said, as soon as we were taken to the open air covered ceremony site, we laughed at how easy a choice it was. We also chose the onsite Twin Owls Steakhouse for our reception dinner and the upstairs room was the perfect intimate space for our wedding party. Not to mention how delicious the food options were there. We also booked a number of different cabins at the Black Canyon Inn for our guests. Everyone loved it. Lastly, after our ceremony the Black Canyon Inn has some amazing backdrops for photos we took as Bride & Groom and with our wedding party and family. We will forever be grateful for choosing Black Canyon Inn for our wedding. Reviewed on 24-04-2019
Jennifer Bredemeier(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-07-2018 Choosing a venue seemed like such a monumental decision to me, and my husband and I finally decided on Black Canyon, and it was the BEST decision. Let me tell you why:1) First off, you simply cannot beat the view. I wanted a Rocky Mountain wedding, and I got just what I wanted. Our guests (who were mostly out-of-towners) were completely \"wowed\" by the picturesque backdrop, which was beautifully framed by the pavilion.2) It's COVERED! It's actually the only covered outdoor ceremony site in Estes Park. I'm a bit of a contingency planner, so of course I had been thinking \"what if it rains?\" from day one. And whaddayaknow, it rained on our wedding day. But here's the thing: it didn't even matter! It actually made it really cool having thunder over the mountains as we said our vows, while our guests stayed completely dry!! 3) The backdrop is so lovely, you need minimal additional decor. I wanted as few vendors as possible to mitigate stress, and the natural beauty of Black Canyon Inn meant I barely had to add anything to the ceremony. It was simply lovely. 4) Katelynn was SO SWEET during all the planning, and Black Canyon as a whole was lovely to work with. 5) Having the condo included with the ceremony fee was really convenient. We actually had our day-of coordinator stay there the night before the wedding so she could easily set up onsite the next day, and we simply requested that Black Canyon have their cleaning service come clean during our wedding so it was like-new for us that night (which it was). It was such a dreamy wedding, and all the guests who flew in (it was a destination for pretty much everyone) were enchanted by the beautiful setting. I've had so many people tell me it was one of the loveliest weddings they'd been to, and that's in large part due to Black Canyon! Reviewed on 11-11-2018
Robyn Dawley(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-03-2018 Holy views! My husband and I decided to book the Black Canyon Inn without seeing it in person, because we didn't think we would have the opportunity to do so (we live in California and were planning a destination wedding at the same time as purchasing our first home). We were both a little nervous, but we felt assured that the pictures we were seeing online were relatively accurate given the reviews we were reading. In an unexpected turn of events, my mom and I got to make a trip to Colorado a couple of months before our wedding. We found our way to the pavilion, and I instantly fell in love. I could not believe the majestic view I was looking at. It was even better than what I had hoped for. When I turned around, my mom, who is not a crier, was in tears. She called my dad, and I heard her say to him, \"You are going to be so thrilled at where our daughter gets to get married. You will not believe this place.\" We were originally hoping for a white wedding; being from a coastal area of California, we were envisioning a winter wedding, unlike all of the winery, barn weddings most of our guests frequently attend. The day before our wedding, it snowed. It was beautiful and ethereal, and my mom and I actually got to watch a couple do their first look in the middle of it. We knew, though, that the snow likely would not last as the temperatures had not been allowing for snow to stay on the ground. At first, we were bummed that it might not be there. But then we also noticed that the mountains were no longer visible. The view we had become enamored with were not there for this couple. So, even though we didn't get the snow we had been hoping for, we ended up being very relieved, because it would have eliminated the very reason we selected Black Canyon as our ceremony location. On top of the unbelievable beauty, though, the staff was wonderful to work with. They were all extremely kind and accommodating- very easy to communicate with and quick to jump in to support our requests. While we didn't have any rain or snow to contend with, we did get hit by some really nasty wind (wind that actually pulled my veil out as soon as I stepped outside to walk down the aisle with my dad). A couple of weeks before, guests of another wedding had taken a large number of the blankets that the venue supplied and blankets that we were counting on for our guests. Days before the wedding, the replacement blankets had not arrived, which had become quite a concern for us with the forecast we were seeing. The staff was able to find blankets for us so that all of our guests were comfortable during the ceremony, despite the 50 degree, 40+ mile an hour winds. Months later, we still have not heard a single complaint about the weather and only praise and awe for the venue. For us, we couldn't have been any happier with any other venue or venue staff. I told my mom when we first saw the Black Canyon that had we seen it while we were venue shopping instead of after we had already booked it, I still would have picked it. I still stand by that statement. It was beyond my wildest wedding dreams! Reviewed on 28-10-2018

Marianne Marshall(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-07-2015 Overall Venue was amazing. You can't beat the wedding pavilion for a ceremony site - unforgettable backdrop!! Sara was great. My only complaint is that they double booked the condo we were supposed to get with the wedding package and the other bride checked in first, therefore we were put in an older condo. In the end it was all fine because I'm a pretty laid back person, and the condo we had was at the edge of the property and much more private, but the condo we ended up with was much farther from the ceremony site and a much more challenging walk in a wedding dress. So, if you are a perfectionist, you will want to double check that the condo they show you is the same that you actually end up with when you check in. Reviewed on 03-08-2015
a member (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-07-2015 We were married on July 4, 2015 and I cannot express how phenomenal the staff at Black Canyon Inn was. When planning a destination wedding, it can be stressful but Sara at Black Canyon Inn made it effortless! She was there throughout the planning and during the day. Sara and the rest of the staff made sure our accommodations and our wedding day was first class! The venue is beyond beautiful and Sara was there throughout the entire day making sure I stayed hydrated and comfortable. I cannot express how wonderful they were and the memories that I will cherish. Reviewed on 15-07-2015
jandee turner(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-08-2014 My husband and I had gone all around Colorado looking for the perfect venue for us. Each one was lovely, but each seemed to be lacking something. When my wedding planner suggested we see Black Canyon Inn, I was thrilled because I love Estes Park. I've been coming here since I was a little girl. It's a quaint, but bustling mountain town with everything you and your guests could possibly need. Adventure, nature, shopping, dining, and wonderful fresh mountain air.\r\rOur first communication with Sara was an incredible experience and we felt very welcomed. She had a way of making us feel special, like we were the only bride and groom they were dealing with and would go out of their way to make our day perfect. That feeling remained throughout the entire planning process.\r\rOn top of that the venue was GORGEOUS. It was everything we were looking for. The view was spectacular. The accommodations on site were lovely. We partnered with Twin Owls Steakhouse on property for the reception and used the lawn for cocktail hour. It was a perfect experience and the staff made sure it all went without a hitch.\r\rOur guests (especially the ones who stayed on property) couldn't stop raving about the whole experience. We used the grills by the pond as a gathering place to bbq earlier in the week. We took advantage of the heated pool. It was just perfect. Reviewed on 16-09-2014

We rented out all the condos on the property which made for a fun filled weekend with only our guests on site. The backdrop for our ceremony was absolutely gorgeous and guests couldn't stop raving about the scenery.\r\rIf you are looking for a laid back mountain wedding ceremony site with great service & wonderful views then you should strongly consider booking this venue. But we had no idea what a gem we had found in the Black Canyon Inn until our actual wedding day. The view at our ceremony site was breathtaking. The staff was extremely helpful and did everything possible to make our wedding fun, smooth and beautiful. The lodging onsite was great and made our wedding party and family comfortable and content. Amanda Jensen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-07-2012 I saw their Pavillion picture on their website, and knew instantly that I wanted our wedding to be held under it, with the amazing view! We drove out from Kansas City to look at Black Canyon among others (to be fair), and this was by far the best view and I got goosebumps standing under the pavillion. The only downside was that unless you want a 10:00 am ceremony (meaning getting up at 5 am or so to get ready), then they charge you an EXTRA $5,000 just to close their restaurant so you can use it for your reception. While I understand that they are losing business by turning away regular customers, it felt like a rip off to have the price jump $5,000 based on the time of day alone, without getting anything different. We chose to have our reception elsewhere, instead of paying double to have it at the restaurant on site. Aside from this, our day was perfect, and the on-site coordinator was amazing and definitely helped to make sure things went smoothly. I would recommend this location, but would hesitate to hold the reception there unless you are not concerned with money. Value rating of 5 is for the ceremony only, as this was competitive with other locations. Value if you hold the ceremony and reception is lower, as they were very expensive compared to our reception location (with a 5-star chef, so not a 'cheap' place). They have minimum night stays, even for family/guests, so make sure you check into that as well. Email response time was somewhat slow and they were sometimes confused as if they did not communicate between staff members, but overall service was good. The views are definitely worth it, and they let you take photos at all three of their ceremony sites, which was nice. Reviewed on 31-07-2012

Holly Shellner(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-05-2012 This is a beautiful location for a ceremony. They have 3 different sites to accommodate different size groups. They have a planner on site to help coordinate, as well as work with proven vendors in the area. Everyone on staff was so helpful and they have one of the best restaurants in town on-site. One of the reason I initially looked at BCI was because they DO NOT hold tons of ceremonies per day. So you can actually feel special on your special day. Reviewed on 21-06-2012

The pavilion overlooks breathtaking views & the grounds offer beautiful photo spots. The pavilion was the perfect place to hold the ceremony as it offers shelter against the wind & cold. Despite an early snow & chilly weather, our guests remained warm throughout the ceremony. The staff was very helpful and excited when I was first looking for a venue & remained helpful throughout the planning process. Included in the cost of the overall ceremony is a 3-night stay in one of their rooms. We chose to stay in the cabin & it was a perfect spot to get ready in the morning. My husband & I enjoyed our time at BCI & we will definitely be returning in the future. Reviewed on 05-11-2011
