I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cafe Cortina. This was the most dream come true day and everything I envisioned was executed perfectly. The calm and reassuring demeanor of Kelley was absolutely wonderful and made me feel at ease going into the day-knowing that everything would be smooth sailing. When I walked down the aisle and then again into the reception and saw how the team at Cafe Cortina made my vision come to life I was completely blown away. The entire venue is absolutely beautiful. The food was outstanding, the drinks were wonderful, and the venue itself is absolutely stunning. The best part of the evening was how the staff took care of all my guests and kept things moving with ease. If I could live my wedding day all over again I would not go anywhere else.

We had our wedding at Cafe Cortina and loved it! I had guests asking me the whole night how we found Cafe Cortina and how much they loved it, and everyone raved about the amazing food. We absolutely loved having our wedding here (it was even more beautiful than we expected) and would 100% do it again and recommend it to others. We had the whole restaurant and outdoor area which was perfect, and had about 85 guests. Our ceremony was outside on the patio - the ceremony space was a little tight for our numbers but we knew that ahead of time and Kelley worked with us to make it work perfectly! Cafe Cortina quickly transitioned the space to our cocktail hour. Dinner after that was amazing - the hors d'oeuvres were great and all of the meals were phenomenal - we’ve never had such good food for a wedding and we are excited to go back for a normal dinner. The service at dinner was excellent and wine glasses were never empty. We were all blown away by how amazing the staff at Cafe Cortina was. Dessert served on the patio was a great touch as well. The patio at night is stunning with all of the lights - the only things we added were candles. Dancing out there was a blast! We did hire a DJ which I think is necessary for the space if you have a larger wedding. Kelley was easy to work with and responded quickly via text and hopped on calls when I asked. This isn't a traditional wedding venue, so you have to be on top of things planning wise (but with a restaurant as your venue, it's pretty easy). Kelley provided me with a few different seating chart options for our guest count and a sample day-of timeline, which I adjusted and sent back. As outlined in the contract, Cafe Cortina does not set up personal decorations, but as the space is already gorgeous, we really only decorated with flowers and candles and it went quickly. The outdoor space really doesn't need much as it's beautifully lit up when the sun goes down (it was honestly magical). We live out of state and having our wedding at Cafe Cortina made things super easy for us!

We ultimately decided to not book our wedding ceremony and reception with cafe cortina due to our experience with their event coordinator, Kelley. Communication was poor from the start. When we arrived for our tour she texted us 2 minutes before our scheduled time that she would be 10 minutes late due to \"Saturday traffic\" LOL. During the time we waited we had noticed a wedding party patiently waiting outside the venue with boxing waiting for Kelley to let them in. I would personally would be so upset waiting on someones irresponsibility and unprofessionalism. Anyways, 10 minutes goes by and she texts us again letting us know she was would ANOTHER 10 minutes and that we could \"show ourselves around.\" She also had the audacity to NOT apologize to our faces when we finally did meet her 30 minutes later. We still went along with the tour and asked the questions we wanted to ask. She told us she would send us an email later with our requested information. Guess what, we never received that email. I would not trust this coordinator with a single thing. If I were Cafe Cortina, I would be looking for a new coordinator. I am considering this a bullet dodged. RUN BRIDES!!!!

I never write reviews, but this place is the best kept secret in Michigan. I choose this place for the ambiance, but ended up loving it for the staff. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for almost 25 years, and I’ve never given nor received the level of service we received at Café Cortina. Kelley and Meg made my day forever memorable. The food was amazing. Everything was perfect. I truly felt like I was waited on hand and foot but ultimately the personalities of the staff made it incredible. Thanks Café Cortina!

We had our small afternoon wedding (45 people) at Cafe Cortina on July 8th & could not have been more impressed by the food, service, and atmosphere. Our guests raved about the attentiveness of the staff, the delicious food, and beautiful grounds at Cafe Cortina! The day of the wedding just before the ceremony began, it started to rain. Kelley was very accommodating and quickly changed the ceremony location from the outdoor patio to the covered tent. It turned out beautiful! During the ceremony the rain trickled on the tent and it created a very romantic atmosphere. The rain ended up clearing after the ceremony and our guests were able to walk around outside on the patios. Leading up to our wedding, I appreciated the responsiveness from Kelley to answer all of our questions. She met with us in person to go over the timeline, layout, and all details for the day of. We had our guests complete preorders for their meal selection, which I think helped with the flow of the reception. The duration of the reception was just the right amount of time to take photos, mingle with guests, and enjoy the day. What took us by surprise was the amazing service we all experienced during the entire reception. I had never seen anything like it! The food portions are very generous & Cafe Cortina even boxed up our leftovers and we enjoyed it later on that night. Highly recommend Cafe Cortina to anyone who is looking for an intimate ceremony and reception spot that offers quality food, service, and a beautiful scenery. Thank you Cafe Cortina for making our day so special!

Cafe Cortina is amazing! We were looking for a venue to have a small wedding and just stumbled upon this place through online searching. They had a beautiful garden area for our ceremony and small fireplace room for the reception that both ended up being perfect. They also have their own onsite wedding planner, Kelley, who was so helpful and did an excellent job making sure everything went smoothly through out the night. Plus, the food here is seriously delicious, so no one will be leaving disappointed! Cafe Cortina gave my wife and I the best wedding we could have hoped for and I can't thank the staff there enough for it! I would, and will, gladly recommend this place to anyone!

Cafe Cortina was the best decision for our wedding venue. The staff made our day really special! Kelley and the rest of the staff were very accommodating throughout the day. We had some weather concerns and Kelley was able to help us coordinate a time change to ensure we had time to take enough photos in the chance that it started to rain. Also, the food was BEYOND exquisite, and we loved being able to choose 5 different entrees. Cafe Cortina provided a romantic, intimate wedding that we hoped to have - and knocked it way out of the park. We are so lucky and happy to have chosen Cafe Cortina and Kelley, and have cherished memories we will have for our lifetime.

Cafe Cortina is an absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding. The food is divine and the outdoor patio feels like a little sliver of Italy. Our frustration was not with the venue, but with the planning, communication, and organization around our wedding day. Prior to paying our deposit with Cafe Cortina, we had hired a day-of coordinator. We were told that a day-of coordinator wouldn't be necessary and that Kelley would handle all day-of planning, and planning leading up to the day. Unfortunately this was not the case. CONS:- Pre-wedding communication from Kelley was lackluster at best. We had to be the ones to initiate communication to create a seating chart, schedule a walkthrough and create a day-of plan. While Kelley was quite easy to get a hold of, we had a hard time getting answers from her and often had to ask the same question 2-3 times before it was answered. - Unfortunately Kelley was not much help on the day of the wedding. We provided her with a copy of our day-of schedule several days prior to the wedding, but it was not on her throughout the day, which caused concern and frustration several times on the day of the wedding. As the bride and groom, we were looking to her to let us know when events should be happening (ceremony starting, dinner beginning, etc) which did not happen. - We only had about 1.5 hours to set up decor before the wedding and were told that it was our responsibility to coordinate and arrange the decor, but that Kelley and the staff would assist. This was not the case at all. We had very simple decor (paper lanterns, flameless candles, one-piece table decor) and had three friends arrive 1.5 hours prior to the wedding to set up. Not only did Cafe Cortina not have a ladder (how??), but our friends received absolutely no help setting up and were still putting together decor when guests began to arrive. - We asked if the restaurant had a sound system to do our own music, or if we should hire a DJ and were told that most couples just use a bluetooth speaker. The three large speakers we brought were not near loud enough for us to be heard during the ceremony, for music to be heard during dinner, or for speeches to be heard. This was incredibly disappointing, as we would have gladly hired a DJ if we knew that sound would be an issue without a DJ-quality speaker system.- We really wanted Kelley to go the extra mile- when we asked what other couples had done for the ceremony or for advice on seating chart, her response was that we can \"do whatever we want\". That's great for flexibility, but as someone who has never planned a wedding before, I would have loved some guidance. Overall, for the price we paid, I did not feel like the service provided by Cafe Cortina was worth it.

Cafe Cortina is an amazing place to hold a wedding reception. As the mother of the bride I was so incredibly impressed by everything about this venue. The setting is warm, romantic and absolutely beautiful. The reception was held at the end of September. We had reserved the entire restaurant to ourselves. The food, drinks and service was fabulous. Many of our guests commented that they had such a great time and were so impressed that they are still talking about it to this day.

From the beginning, Rina was a great point of contact, answering my questions before locking in this venue. We ended up going with a smaller event, ceremony and reception on site, less than 50 people. I mean, besides the fact that I controlled the weather perfectly (haha), it was a pretty perfect day. Leading up to the day, Kelley was my new PofC and she was pretty helpful. I was a little bummed we didn't get our complimentary tasting of the food but it definitely did not disappoint day of. We were able to drop off our decorations and signs and what not the day before. I do kind of wish hey had a spreadsheet of everything they do have; DJ table, stand for officiant, easel, cake stand and serving utensils. That way we could've avoided a lot of back and forth. Day of, service was outstanding. Food was impeccable. Besides myself and now husband, that's what everyone talked about. Fresh, hot ciabatta, delicious fall salad. We will definitely be back for dinner and/or special occasions.

We had to change our wedding reception plans to be hosted at Cafe Cortina at the last minute due to the pandemic, and wow was it amazing. Kelley, Rina, and the rest of the staff is a dream to work with. So professional, polite, and accommodating. Even when it started hailing, no one blinked an eye, just did what had to be done to keep everyone safe. Kelley literally took care of everything so we could have a stress-free day.The food is also absolutely amazing. So fresh and expertly prepared. All of our guests raved that this was the best wedding meal they've ever had. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves, and felt very safe the entire time. There's also a great outdoor patio space available as well that would be great for large groups. We barely needed to bring-in any decorations because the space is so beautiful!

But once I met the team at Cafe Cortina and saw their venue, tasted their menu offerings my hope was reignited. But it wasn’t until the day of the wedding that I saw what they really can do. Their team was proactive, courteous, responsive, respectful, helpful, gracious and reassuring. They were prompt, informed, looked out for us and worked with us. Each one was patient - and I had endless questions; and they did not tire (it seemed) in making me (and our guests) comfortable. They worked hard but never showed an ounce of strain. From valet men to servers to lighting to heaters to putting/keeping wood in the fireplace - this team welcomed you! Cafe Cortina - you have great people serving your vision. It was our privilege to receive the benefit of it. And our hats off to the team behind the team. Our food was delicious.”

My groom and I just had our wedding at Cafe Cortina this past weekend and it was beyond perfect! Due to Covid and having to downsize our wedding we decided to go with a small and intimate winter wedding and little did we know how perfect it would turn out! From the start speaking to Rina and Kelley — we knew this was the place for us! They were so helpful and accommodating from the very beginning! I worked with Kelley the last 2 months planning our wedding and she was an absolute sweetheart and so helpful!! Without her I don’t know what we would’ve done! They helped bring our vision to life and worked with us with all of the Covid restrictions and helped to still make our wedding an absolute fairy tale. Our guests said they have never had such amazing food and the staff was impeccable. They truly made ourselves and our guests feel like first class. Our wedding was intimate, it was magical and top notch! If you are looking for a wedding venue for a small, elegant, intimate wedding this is the place for you! This place is great ANY season of the year!! Thank you so much Kelley and the entire cafe cortina staff for making our wedding a dream come true! We will be back for anniversary dinners for sure :)

We booked Cafe Cortina about a month out from our date due to COVID causing us to change plans. The entire team at Cafe Cortina was phenomenal to work with, especially on such short notice, and my husband and I living in Texas (our families are in Michigan). We never felt pressured or rushed when making decisions. They answered all of our questions, facilitated a walkthrough of the venue on short notice when we were home before the wedding. Our wedding day went beautifully! The outdoor ceremony space in the Chef's Garden was beautiful, they had a lovely sitting area outside of it for guests, and they were helpful in our families setting up decor ahead of time. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and felt like being served by family. The food was phenomenal and any requests we had were accommodated. We could not have been happier with the ceremony and dinner, and have already talked about going back for an anniversary dinner every year!

Rina, Kelley, and Antonio were amazing to work with and made everyone feel like royalty. The food was delicious, many of our guests said that it was the best meal they have ever had at a wedding! As soon as we found out our big wedding was cancelled due to COVID, I went into severe panic mode. I must've emailed 20 different places and Cafe Cortina called within 5 minutes to let me know they had our date available. Kelley and the whole staff were amazing to work with and pulled a whole wedding off in about three weeks. I am so thankful for them and I would recommend them to anyone! My husband and I couldn't have been happier and our guest were extremely pleased. Although it was only 30 people, it was like it was meant to be that way!

Cafe Cortina's ambiance, incredible service and attention to detail made for a spectacular intimate afternoon wedding and dinner. From my first meeting with Rina and touring the venue, I knew this was where I would be able to walk into our wedding and everything would be handled spectacularly! Rina and Kelley professionally followed up with me, ironing out all of the details (there were no surprises!) and it couldn't have been a more glorious day in every aspect. Our guests still rave about the ambiance, amazing food and service we were all treated to. Our beautiful ceremony on the sunny garden patio was truly memorable - thank you Rina and the entire Cafe Cortina Staff!

We recently had our Wedding at Café Cortina and it was absolutely fabulous. Kelley and Rina worked with us to make sure every detail was planned for and executed exactly as planned. We had a smaller (20 person) wedding so we were very impressed with their ability to cater to a smaller event size while still making the wedding feeling intimate and romantic. We originally planned to be married in the courtyard but due to rain we had to move inside. Thanks to Kelley and Rina we had a beautiful backup plan in place and everything went off without a hitch. The food was absolutely perfect! We had a gluten free guest and she was so impressed that they had delicious options for her and did not make the allergy a big deal. We also had our cake made by Café Cortina and it was delicious. On top of the great food the service there was exceptional. My husband has said repeatedly that Manuel was the best waiter that he has ever seen. Thank you Café Cortina for making our Wedding absolutely amazing. We cannot wait to come back!The Shoemakers

Sharina, Kelly, and all of the staff at Cafe Cortina really made our wedding the dream day we had imagined. Right from the offset on our first visit we were made to feel at home and could immediately envisage our wedding there. The intimate feel that Sharina has created makes the whole location feel very personal, we felt like we were the only people to have ever been married there. Kelly was always contactable via email and readily answered the many, many, many questions we had for her in the 4 weeks running up to the big day. Yes, we did plan our wedding in four whole weeks and I could not have done it without Kelly and Sharina. On the day we had absolutely nothing to worry about, the Cafe Cortina team ran the whole day seamlessly! We had heavy, heavy rain as well as glorious sunshine and the team had thought of everything, we were able to use the venue in its entirety without hiccup or problem. We cannot recommend Cafe Cortina more for those couples who want a stunning, personal and intimate wedding. The food and service was beyond impeccable and our guests still rave about the best wedding they've ever been to! We feel so incredibly lucky that we found Cafe Cortina and were able to get married in a place of such unbelievable beauty.

The atmosphere is gorgeous, elegant and romantic. Our guests keep raving about the food and service. Kelley made planning easy, and the staff was professional and went above and beyond!

Rina, Kelley, and the entire crew at Cafe Cortina are very special people at a very special place. They are pros and made us feel right at home unlike some of the bigger/more traditional wedding venues we saw. They took the time and care to help us make our wedding exactly what we wanted it to be - we were surrounded by the people we love in an absolutely beautiful setting eating the most delicious food. The food and the service are truly unmatched - you will not find better for you wedding!The patio in summer time was perfect for our ceremony as well as dancing after dinner. It was so pretty and intimate, and so much fun!! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. I wouldn’t change a thing. My husband and I are so grateful for these memories!

My wedding details turned out so perfect! Kelle is the wedding coordinator there and she was so helpful throughout everything. We had a small intimate wedding, but that didn’t stop the staff from providing the best service possible to all the guests. They were all so nice and friendly to everyone. The food was amazing! Overall, cafe cortina was nothing short of excellence!

There are two major issues I had with the staff of this venue. First off, the event coordinator was late. I had to ask a waiter for assistance, and even he was incredibly dismissive of my appointment. The second issue and, arguably, the most distressing was when the event coordinator was finally located she wrote off my mother and myself the minute she saw us. The other thing was that the event coordinator was majorly pushing me to pick one particular day even after I had told her my preference for a Saturday (not a holiday weekend or anything either). I had heard many great things about this location and the food but, I do not believe the promise of good food would be worth dealing with the staffing issues. I hope that others do not have the experience I did. I was just appalled with the noxious environment.

Our wedding far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, Cristina was there making sure everything went smoothly and made us feel comfortable. Cristina was truly amazing the entire night. Every single staff member was so nice and professional and they just made our night so special.The food and cake were exceptional! We have talked to all of guests and they can't stop raving about the food. My only regret for the entire night was that I was too full to finish my meal!

My husband had proposed to me at Cafe Cortina and we kept talking about how beautiful the venue is. The patio is something out of a fairytale. On the day of our wedding, everyone commented on how beautiful the setting was and how we managed to decorate the venue to look the way it did. We hardly decorated aside from the centerpieces on the table. They were so accommodating. The service was excellent. The food was amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a unique venue!

The garden is absolutely breathtaking venue for pictures and to get married at. Our guests just kept asking us, \"how did you find this place?\" \"this place is gorgeous, it's so intimate!\" and that is exactly why we chose it. Food was the best and the service was too. Anything we needed they would get and our pictures, omg, not a bad one in the bunch because of the scenery! Even our photographer said it was one of the greatest places she has ever shot.

Our wedding was exactly what we had hoped for - an intimate Sunday afternoon ceremony and luncheon reception with our closest friends and family. Oh, and of course, the absolute highest quality food! Every one we worked with at Cafe Cortina - Rina, Tammy, Dalia - was so helpful and accommodating. They made the entire process stress-free. Even on the actual wedding day, when we had to change plans due to weather, they took care of every detail. I just had my wedding reception at Cafe Cortina and could not be any happier! The weather was perfect for the outdoor patio. We had dinner inside and the service could not have been any better. The evening was nothing but magical and the patio setting with the lights and flowers was truly breath taking. My guests are still commenting on how wonderful the food, service, staff, and decor were, even to the point of saying it was the best wedding they have ever attended. I cannot thank Rina, Tammy, and the entire staff for making this night one of the best ever. My husband and I will for sure be coming back.

The first time we visited cafe cortina to consider hosting our wedding there, we fell in love with how intimate and gorgeous the patios and entire restaurant was. We can never thank Cafe Cortina enough for making every aspect of our wedding planning and wedding day beyond perfect. Rina and Tammy were a delight to work with. They truly went above and beyond, from the tasting to creating a custom signature cocktail that my guests loved, we were blown away. We got compliments left and right on the service, setting, and food because it is truly second to none! We danced the night away beneath the stars on the impeccably kept patios with the trees lit and romantic paper lanterns hung throughout them. We are beyond grateful to the entire CC staff for their professionalism, attention to detail, and delivering our dream wedding to us!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I don't even know where to begin to express the gratitude and pure joy I feel after working with Cafe Cortina to plan our special day. To start off, the venue is gorgeous!!! It has character and doesn't need a lot of decorations like drapery to make it pop, it is beautiful all on it's own - only subtle decorations to make it your own. All our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was, how professional and accommodating the staff was, how delicious the food was, how amazing the outdoor setting was, and that it was one of the best weddings they've ever been to!!Every other venue we looked at made us feel like we had to fit into one of THEIR packages. Not Cafe Cortina. After just 15 minutes of speaking with Rina, we knew this was the place for us. Rina and team made every accommodation possible to make sure that OUR special day was perfect!!! We planned the wedding in less than two months, and the team was so great about staying connected, responding to my questions instantly, and accommodating every detail and request. They made us feel like they cared about our wedding as if it were their own and went above and beyond to make it an unforgettable experience!! We cannot thank them enough!!! This review is being submitted by the groom. I can't imagine many grooms posting a review on The Knot so you can tell how serious I am about what I am about to say. You can read the response that Rina wrote to my wife's review. She again has proven herself to be a liar. I was present at the very first meeting we had with her and at a few subsequent ones and I can attest to the fact that we were told that the entree for our main course would consist of two meats on the same plate: chicken and steak. Well guess what? On the day of the wedding we found out that only one meat was being offered. That was a lie. Rina's claim \"... and only after threats, screams, and intimidation over the phone at me about not wanting to pay for additionals, then yes, I gave up dealing with her rants... I politely offered to give her deposit back and she became raged, so I handed the event over to my assistant and she also claimed bride was emotional and was intimidating\" is also a lie. She was never intimidated (she is a grown woman so I find it surprising she felt this way), yelled at or threatened. Her assistant Tammy is a wonderful person and we all had a very cordial relationship with her. As a matter of fact there was never any discussion about her giving our deposit back because no one from our side ever treated her or any of her employees in the manner she describes. The final bill she gave to my in-laws was thousands of dollars more than what she had quoted. My poor in-laws paid it in full out of fear of losing the venue in case they argued with her. Another lie; Rina claims \"At the end of evening the GM stated bride also loudly yelled in dn, rooms and made comment of her 'gifts had gone missing'?....then our dn room found her gifts.\" There was never any yelling about missing gifts because we had stored them ourselves and knew exactly where they were. Her GM was actually hitting on one of our guests and exchanging numbers with her at the end of the night so I'm not sure when he witnessed this so called yelling. We NEVER asked for calamari or any seafood to be served because a close family member has a very serious seafood allergy; another LIE. Rina is a highly disorganized person and tends to write things down on pieces of paper which she later loses. TWO days before the wedding she asked my mother-in-law which appetizers we had selected even though we had told her multiple times. She blames my wife for yelling at her over the phone, which is false because my wife only communicated with her via email or in person. In reality she refused to work with my wife because she was catching Rina adding many extras without asking anyone. It was only when my wife questioned Rina that she asked to work with my mother-in-law exclusively (my wife had no knowledge of this until after the wedding). There was no contract, which should have been a red flag, but because we loved the venue so much we didn't ask for one. Despite the issues with Rina, there were a few bright spots: the outdoor part of the venue, Tammy, the waitstaff and the food (although the chicken is cheap quality so I would not recommend it). I am disappointed that Rina cheated my in-laws out of thousands of dollars, and then in an effort to protect herself came up with a bunch of lies to make us look bad. As a groom I would not recommend having a wedding at Cafe Cortina.

Our wedding was at Cafe' Cortina on July 9, 2016. We want to thank the entire staff for making our wedding so special, it was everything we could have asked for and more. A sincere thanks to Tammy the event coordinator who made sure it was an exceptional and basically stress free experience. I can't thank her enough for her patience in making this happen. The lights, the flowers, the small extra touches that made it perfect. The food was delicious, hor d'oeuvres and cocktails on the patio after the ceremony and dinner inside. The guests were very impressed with the choices they had to chose from. The servers were attentive and courteous and it was pure class when our dinners were all served at the same time. A special thank you to Tim and Arturo who went above and beyond to meet our every need. A heartfelt thank you to Kim the bartender who was so professional and excellent at what she did and always with a smile. To all those behind the scenes that were a part of this, thank you. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars, Cafe Cortina certainly does deserve it. It was so amazing, I wish I could do it again.

We were beyond dazzled with my daughter's wedding reception last Saturday 4/16/2016. It was 73 degrees and the magnolia tree welcoming guests down the cobblestone walkway into the secluded outdoor cocktail area was something out of a fairy tale. After sitting down only 3 times with Rina and Tammy (event coordinator) our expectations were beyond exceeded!! The outdoor bar area was breath taking at sunset as guests meandered through the walkway, stopping at high tops or couches to enjoy the amazing apps being hand passed. When it was time to be seated, guests entered through the french doors into the dining areas for their dinner. We had both a band and TapSnap at our venue. Thanks to Tammy's uncanny eye for detail we were able to provide ample space for both, as well as a dance floor for guests to dance on. Every detail was beyond perfection!!! Thank you Tammy and Rina for making our night one of perfection!!

While I’m always pleased to hear of a happy bride, my experience closely resembles that of the two to three star experiences posted here and on Wedding Wire. In general, my guests enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Unfortunately, as the bride my interactions were somewhat different. I agree with other reviews that a) communication and clarity can be hit or miss b) YOU must be organized to ensure your day runs smoothly c) a written contract was not readily offered d) most wait staff were helpful e) it is a unique environment for a small wedding. I would also suggest you clarify any extras such as additional reception time and associated bar costs. I received conflicting information regarding that aspect of the evening, so ultimately we left before we truly wanted to despite planning ahead for the additional cost. My biggest disappointment was the ceremony rehearsal, held on a weekday afternoon to accommodate the restaurant. My husband’s family was not sold on this type of intimate wedding and the lack of organization during the rehearsal was embarrassing and frustrating. I also suggest that if using a bridal party, keep it very small. My seated parents discovered during the ceremony that they could not see anything at all, as their view (and every other seated guest) was blocked by my bridesmaids. Perhaps this could have been rectified had a few seats been placed on the patio during the rehearsal to mimic the ceremony. I departed from my rehearsal convinced the ceremony would be a disaster. The coordinator had obviously NOT reviewed any of my info as she did not know when I was to be married nor the time of my ceremony scheduled for that weekend. A big thanks to my officiant who ultimately got the meeting on track. My rehearsal was not only attended by my bridal party but three very loud lunch patrons (who were well into a bottle of wine) joined us as well. This situation became increasingly uncomfortable, as my bridal party could not hear instructions or anything else being discussed. The patrons themselves actually suggested that they should move, but instead were told to remain on the patio.My floorplan had also been discussed in detail prior to the wedding day and was reviewed once again during the rehearsal. Upon my arrival on the big day, the floorplan was incorrect. An extra table had been added, making my seating chart incorrect. This also left a table without a proper centerpiece. To their credit, this was corrected at my request after pointing out that the arrangement would leave a portion of my guests very confused. There were several other small issues, including late appetizers, entrees arriving for some guests while others were already finished, and some guests feeling rushed. Unfortunately, a few guests aired their disappointment on Facebook. I felt that any issues should have been reported to Café Cortina to allow the staff a chance to correct the matter. At the end of the evening, I asked to leave a few items as I was staying overnight at a nearby hotel. I was informed that all my items would be set outdoors if I chose to leave anything. Not sure this is the level of service or overall experience Café Cortina would like to reflect. To be fair, the atmosphere will make for beautiful photos and video. I feel like this is a great place for a romantic dinner or very small wedding but suggest that you be a very organized, highly detailed person to achieve your desired result on the big day.

Our daughter's wedding reception was at Café Cortina on September 6, 2015. Rina, Tammy and the team did on awesome at making it a memorable evening not only for our daughter but for us and all of our guests. Rina and the team were extremely accommodating during the planning process and during the event itself. True professionals!!! Our guests are still commenting about the wonderful time they had. The ambiance on the patio for cocktails and appetizers was incredible. The main course was served inside; the service by the staff was outstanding. There was no need to go to the bar; everything was served at the tables at lightening speed. It was exciting to go back out after dinner to enjoy dessert and drinks under the lights and start dancing the night away. Tammy brought out a pair of dancing slippers on a platter without me (mother of the bride) even asking for them. Unforgettable personal touch -- first class service from beginning to end. If we had more than one daughter, we would go back to Café Cortina in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Rina, Tammy and team, for making this big day so special for all of us. As a first time mother-of-the-bride, choosing a venue was new to me. To be honest, after seeing Cafe Cortina (in January) and meeting with Rina, we looked no further. \r\rOur daughter had eaten there several times with her colleagues so she knew the food was excellent. Rina \"filled in the blanks\" for us about what the place would look like in the early fall and just what she and her staff would do to make it the elegant occasion we had hoped for. We were immediately convinced that this was the setting we desired for our only daughter's wedding.\r\rHer wedding was two weeks ago and we all said it was even more wonderful than we expected. The attention to detail, the glorious setting and the delicious cuisine made it a wedding of a lifetime. Many guests came up to us during the reception and after to say it was the most elegant, but not stuffy, wedding they had ever attended. Many inquired how we knew about Cafe Cortina. Since we booked it in January, there have been two great articles in the Detroit papers praising the venue itself. I have also talked with multiple people since then who told us it was their favorite restaurant...and I understand why.\r\rBoth Rina and Tammy were wonderful to work with, delivered what they promised and calmed any jitters that the bride-to-be had. I couldn't recommend Cafe Cortina and its owner and professional staff any more highly. They made a dream come true for our daughter, new son-in-law and our entire family. She is immediate in her reply to email and offers really helpful suggestions along the way. Tammy, the coordinator, is also amazing. I am an out of state bride and I fell in love with cafe cortina on the web. I called and scheduled an appointment for my mom to view the venue. My mom arrived and loved the place! However the staff was not welcoming to her at all. She waited for 15 minutes in the doorway because she didn't know where to to go, after realizing she should just go on her own around the place, she took several videos to send to me, in the video I could hear her on several occasions attempt to converse with the staff and they would barely respond to her. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to have my special day at this venue, however I can not spend money where my family is not welcomed. Beautiful place though!

My fiancé and I decided on a smaller, low-key wedding celebration with just family and close friends. We had heard wonderful things about Cortina, so we booked this venue for both our wedding ceremony and reception. It was wonderful! The food was amazing (best gnocchi I've ever had), the scenery beautiful, and the service impeccable. Tammy (manager) helped to coordinate the entire evening and did a superb job. We can't wait to get our wedding photos back because the patio was lit up in the evening and was gorgeous. \r\rI would recommend Cortina to anyone in a heartbeat. You will not be disappointed.

Café Cortina was beyond an excellent decision to host our daughter and son in law's wedding. It was an extraordinary wonderful intimate wedding! From my first meeting with Rina, the owner, and Tammy, her assistant, they were on top of everything. Beyond organized and professional! Café Cortina,s entire staff were professional and right on mark with everything. The food was superb, from the appetizers, our entrée and desserts. We served filet along with halibut and everyone of our guests could not say enough!!!! Not only is the restaurant of Café Cortina's ambiance so beautiful, but the garden and patio area feels like you are in little Italy. We had our ceremony outside in the garden area along with our appetizers. We then had a sit down dinner and dancing in the restaurant followed by desserts in the garden. Rina and her staff set up sitting areas where our guests relaxed and enjoyed the garden view along with the twinkle lights and beautiful flowers and fireplace. I cannot say enough about the entire staff and Rina, the owner, how professional and wonderful they were to us. They went over and beyond!!! I would highly recommend Café Cotina and I look forward to hosting future events with them!

I was a huge fan of the location and Rina... UNTIL... Suddenly, in April (1 day after reserving space), my Big Brother was tragically killed in a horrible car accident (I am happy to prove this as it was very HIGHLY televised), at that point all of my soon to be wedding plans (July 19th, 2015) were cancelled, as both of my parents have passed and my now deceased big brother was intended to walk me down the aisle. My devastation would not allow me to continue with my original wedding plans so I cancelled everything. With in 2 days of reserving the space at Cafe Cortina, I contacted Rina (amidst the traumatic dealings with my brothers loss & nieces ICU hospitalization), explaining that I would be cancelling my wedding until further notice and to please kindly refund my $400 deposit, which I had made 2 days prior. Sadly, as I am the one affording my brothers funeral, and the ensuing hospital bills of my 2 nieces left with out a father, I need this money. I am receiving ZERO sympathy or assistance from Rina, in fact, she has mislead me, and been somewhat unkind regarding the entire situation. I would not EVER refer someone to this place as a result, because FAMILY comes first, and NEVER in a million years would I have foreseen the sudden death of my brother. I don't feel I have asked too much of Cafe Cortina, and really feel everyone should be aware that this is how they manage their business, in lieu of their \"valued customers\" tragic loss, \"sorry, you can't have your money back, we (Cafe Cortina) clearly need it more than you (customer).\" is the lasting impression... NOT IMPRESSED!!! \rIt took me until now to be able to write this review with out breaking into devastation over this loss, or I would have posted much sooner!!! SMH. Cafe Cortina and Rina should be ashamed. \rThank you for reading.

Choosing Cafe Cortina as our wedding venue was one of the best things we've ever done! Rina and Tammy made planning enjoyable and were always available to answer/address questions and requests- I really appreciated this being an out of town bride! \r\rThe food at Cafe Cortina is simply outstanding, and our guests have still not stopped RAVING about the incredible service! This venue has been voted the most romantic restaurant in Detroit in 2014, and it truly is... absolutely magical. \r\rWe chose this venue because the food is outstanding and the venue unique and intimate. It's not at all stale or overdone like other reception halls. Furthermore, your guests' experience (dining, service, and ambiance) will be far more luxurious and high class. \r\rThe outdoor garden is enchanting, and we planned on using this space for the majority of our reception. However, the rain made that impossible, but the staff at Cafe Cortina professionally and seamlessly transitioned our event inside where our guests were more comfortable. Despite having to use 'plan b' because of weather, it was still just as perfect as we had hoped. For those of you considering outside venues in Michigan, Cafe Cortina offers a beautiful garden space with a great backup plan (inside the beautiful restaurant) in the event of an unexpected weather. \r\rRina and Tammy were very open and accommodating of our vision for the day- all details were executed as promised. They went above and beyond to accommodate our schedules. Their team is outstanding and provides the best service I've ever encountered in a dining establishment- and our guests agreed! Other vendors were recommended by the venue, all of which were phenomenal (music, cake) to work with (though the florist was not very organized or easy to work with, our flowers were beautiful and incredibly affordable).\r\rA huge thank you to Cafe Cortina for helping us create beautiful memories of our wedding reception that will last a lifetime!

My husband and I were married at Cafe Cortina and it was absolutely perfect for a small intimate wedding. The outdoor patio was gorgeous, service was spectacular and the space is so unique and special for a wedding day. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone considering a smaller wedding - we had around 50 guests and it was perfect there

Cafe Cortina was originally our first choice, but had to forego it because we initially had a guest list of 200 and growing. Well, as most wedding advice goes \"Cut the guest list when trying to stay within budget!\" and we did just that. We cut it down to 75 people and Cafe Cortina became an option again. We could have easily done a banquet hall or a banquet room in a hotel, but my husband and I both wanted something classy and elegant but also different while also fulfilling my vision of having an outside wedding. Cafe Cortina delivered on my vision and more! And I didn't have to do anything to the space as far as decorations. I only needed to bring in centerpieces, the cake, music and my favors. Of course you can add personal touches here and there, but with the flowers blooming and the trees lit up at night, the place speaks for itself and is specatcular! \r\rWe had our ceremony on the garden patio. 10 seats were made available for the ceremony which at first sounds inconvenient, but walking down the aisle and seeing everyone gathered around and having the option to move closer or stand where they may, made it feel like the intimate, relaxed, organic flow that I envisioned for our wedding. It really makes you feel as if your surronded by the love of family and close friends...literally. Dinner was inside the garden room and then dancing and lounging back on the garden patio. Food was cooked to order from a selected menu for all our guests and was absolutely declicious! And multiple guests commented \"That bartender knows how to make a drink!\" LOL! \r\rThe owner of Cafe Cortina, Rina, has the patience of a Saint! She answered all my questions and was always an email or phone call away. And her right hand, Tammy, was just as patient and accomodating. Any concerns I had, they made sure to reassure me and even moved or adjusted things around on their end if need be. The both of them truly made the planning of my wedding and the day of the wedding stress free, enjoyable and a relaxing experience. Rina let me use her office to change into my 2nd dress and the entire staff there had nothing but kind words to say that day. Truly made the day remarkable. \r\rMy only regret is that day and night came to an end!\rBut the best part of this is because its a restaurant my husband and I get to go back for their fantastic food!\r\rI will forever recommend them as the place to have any private event where you want an unforgettable/memorable experience with great food, beautiful ambience & scenary and amazing service!

Our wedding was August 15, 2014 and we could not have asked for a more perfect day and venue. Cafe Cortina went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly and made our special day perfect. Prior to the wedding the staff is reassuring that they will handle many of the details so the amount of stress is limited if present at all. I did not have to do much as the bride other than show up on my wedding day and enjoy!! The day of the wedding the staff was very accommodating and all the guests were very well taken care of. The food and service is outstanding and well worth every penny spent on our wedding. In addition, the scenery for pictures and celebrating outside under lighted trees was unbelievable!! It was hard to put into words how happy I was with everything!! I am still replaying the day in my head and how perfect the venue and the staff made our day!! If you are looking for an elegant, intimate, and perfect wedding venue Cafe Cortina is highly recommended!! You and your guests will be blown away by how great everything is that Cafe Cortina has to offer.

We selected Cafe Cortina for our upscale intimate wedding of 40 guest. This venue is truly an amazing space. Our guest came in thru the garden greeted with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres with music playing. We had our wedding ceremony as well in the garden. After that our guest went into our private room that was a wash of color and flowers. The staff did an amazing job setting the entire table setting up with candles, flowers, crystal, menu, napkins, glasses. Compliments all night long. The service was superb as well as memorable. food was bar none mind blowing. Each guest could choose from 4 dishes and all dinners were prepared to order. Our guest were served all at the same time while music was playing in the back ground. After our dinner guest strolled out to the patio that was filled with votive candles, tree filled with white lights and charming fireplace to warm any heart. Dance was outside on a beautiful July evening as well as after dinner drinks and cake. \r This whole experience was so magical. Rina was wonderful to work with and her attention to detail was superb. She also gave us suggestions on several issue that were 5 star. If you ever have the opportunity to have a very romantic and enchanted event this is it! 5 star all the way from the first appointment to our wave goodby. We will always have a spot in our hearts for Cafe Cortina, for that we thank you for making our memories so perfect!\rMegan and Mike\r\r\r

We were thrilled to host our wedding ceremony and reception at Cafe Cortina for our close friends and family (111 total attendees). We could not have picked a better venue. The restaurant, the patio, the staff and especially the meal was outstanding. The decor of the restaurant, Garden Room and patio are simply stunning requiring minimal additions. We have heard nothing but rave reviews from family and friends and we couldn't be happier. Thank you, Rina and the Cafe Cortina staff, for making our day special. We had an amazing night and would highly recommend Cafe Cortina in Farmington Hills, Michigan to those seeking an intimate, romantic setting.

A\r\rDear Rina, Tammy and the entire Cafe Cortina Staff,\r\rWe are over the moon about our fabulous rehearsal dinner on Friday might! the Bellini Barmwas a huge hit, the flowers were just right, food magnificent, and the service outstanding!! We had so many compliments on your beautiful venue and all that was presented at our rehearsal dinner, the sunflower arrangements were just what I wanted and set off the whole evening,\r\rMany had never been to your restaurant and can't wait to come back for a special occasion. Others from out of town were in awe of the venue and beautiful garden area.\r\rIt was simply a dream come true for all involved. My our friendly staff made everyone comfortable and nothing was forgotten.\r\rWe thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a night dreams are made of. We will be back soon for some Osso Buvvo...lots of raves on that! The kids loved the sunflower cupcakes with their names on them. Food is a little pricey but not that much more than most nice banquet halls and the food was SO MUCH BETTER. Food was amazing... still getting complements from my guests 2 months later. Staff was professional. Only major complaint was not signing a contract in the beginning.

Cafe Cortina\r\rRina and her staff are the best in Metro Detroit! If you are looking for classy, intimate, romantic, and elegant wedding venue then choose Cafe Cortina! They exceeded our expectations on every level! Rina, Tammy, and Tim are truly wedding professionals. The entire staff worked through the evening to perfect every detail of our wedding! Our guests are still raving about every detail of our wedding! The menu selection can not be beat! The venue provides stunning photographs. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces provide the perfect and intimate touch! The forecast called for rain on our wedding day and we didn't worry about anything. The staff was ready for a plan \"B\" and the weather turned out beautiful!\r\rWe met with Rina and Tammy several times and they always made time to answer every question we had! The venue is so stunning that we did not spend any money on decorations! The patio is decorated with so many beautiful lights and candles. \r\rOur guests commented on the top notch service during the entire evening. We had a full service bar on the patio and everyone gathered inside and outside. They enjoyed being able to visit inside and outside in the beautiful garden space!\r\rWe looked at many venues around Metro Detroit and nothing compared to the straight forward bottom line pricing and service we received! From the very beginning of speaking on the phone with Rina - we knew this was the place we wanted to get married. We saw the place in mid December, and the garden was bare, but this did not discourage us. We knew how beautiful and gorgeous this place could be, and it was. They handle so much of the planning, that you can sit back and relax, which was very much our style of wedding we wanted. By August the garden was bloomed and the setting was breathtaking. They did such an amazing and beautiful job, nothing there needs to be over the top because the place is already so beautiful, so any detail you add will only enhance the evening. We loved the small intimate family style setting with the relaxing outdoor patio. Many people talked about how they have never been to a wedding like this before. We heard nothing but amazing feedback from our guest about the food, drinks and atmosphere, how relaxed they felt all night long, as well as ourselves. All in all I would highly recommend this place for a wedding or any other special event.

Grazie mille - to Rina, Tammy, and the Café Cortina team!!!\r\rOur wedding celebration on September 14 was amazing - including the weather!! Your patience, helpfulness, precision and professionalism met all our hopes and expectations. Café Cortina sparkled all night! Our food was PERFECT. We LOVED the lasagna served to the bride and groom's table...to die for!! The whole day felt so streamlined - even down to the packing up at the end of the evening.\r\rAgain, thank you.\r\rFondly, \r\rWendy and Ernie Yoder\r\r\r...In addition, Café Cortina's manager referrals for photography and flowers turned out to be exceptional!! We invited 130 guests and the space, both inside and out, was plentiful.

Everybody wanted to know how we found out about Cafe Cortina for our family's celebration of our daughter's destination wedding in Napa, CA. We knew it was going to be special after our first meeting with Rina Tonon. Her restaurant is the perfect venue for an intimate celebration for family and friends. Rina and Tammy made sure that every detail was covered and our guests were well taken care of.\rWithout question, we have to agree with our guests proclaiming that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding reception, prepared to order and served by a polite and attentive waitstaff. Cafe Cortina's award winning chef uses only the finest ingredients and presents each plate in beautiful fashion. Additionally, wines are recommended that pair wonderfully with the hors d'eouvres and entrees.\rThere is much to rave about, but maybe the most memorable moments occured on their beautifully landscaped patio. Illuminated with lights and candles, and warmed by the fireplace, it was a charming and comfortable place for our guests to gather and mingle. We cannot wait to revisit Cafe Cortina to share an evening with friends and reminisce about the memories that were created that evening. Highly recommended...5 stars +

I used The Knot app on my phone to plan my wedding and to find possible venues for my ceremony and reception. We wanted something very small with just family and all of his family was coming from all over the country. We were hoping for a location where we could do dinner and the ceremony at the same spot so that there wouldn't be as much hassle driving to different locations. I found Cafe Cortina on The Knot and my husband had surprised me with a dinner date there for Valentine's Day weekend to check out the facility. It seemed great. We started planning for an April wedding from there with 30 people, including us. My mom, husband and myself were all in contact with the coordinator via email. She would send conflicting and contradicting information to each of us. We wanted to decorate and do set up and when we got there, they had already set the tables up after we had asked them not to, as my 76 yo grandma had spent hours washing and ironing table cloths for me. We didn't have time to change the cloths when we got there. The coordinator's assistant acted like she didn't even know who we were when we walked in and she was supposed to be helping us that day, not the coordinator herself. While we were setting up, they were giving tours of the facility to other prospective brides and were completely in our way. The room was beautiful, the food was great, but there were so many things that the coordinator's assistant was telling us that the coordinator never had. They were also trying to charge my dad an extra % for using his credit card when that was never mentioned and there was never a room fee mentioned, either. They didn't have enough chairs set up for the ceremony, so we made them find more so that everyone could sit and they were rushing through each course before some were even finished with the previous. Some of the guests told me that they felt like we were being kicked out. The staff helping us were great and nice, but I was very disappointed with how things were handled and the lack of appropriate communication that we received. I would recommend dinner here, but never a wedding reception or ceremony.

Rina,\rWow!!I can’t believe Anthony and I have been married for over a month now. Boy how time flys when you are having fun not to mention having 4 kids busy schedules.\r I wanted to thank you and your staff for doing an awesome job for our wedding. Anthony and I couldn’t of asked for a more perfect day. Everytime I mention our wedding day I am overwhelmed with emotion and such joy. Every detail was perfect. The food was amazing!!!! Service top notch!!!\rEven having future Brides walk through the dining area prior to our guest arriving to see the lay out for their possible wedding event was great! That’s what sold me on choosing your establishment, being able to see a wedding layout prior to us deciding great selling point. It was nice having a visual and Tammy made that possible for us.\rOur musician, Italian singer Francessco Cavalini, loved entertaining us in such an intiment setting.\rTruly blessed to of had such a successful event. We will forever be customers of yours and again we can’t thank you enough for our day All the best to you and to the success to your business. I have attached some pictures for your enjoyment. ...choose Cafe Cortina! My husband and I and our families are beyond grateful for the generosity of Rina and the rest of the staff at Cafe Cortina. Everything was breathtakingly beautiful. The food was beyond delicious. The service exceeded our expectations. Our guests were completely blown away, and many said that this was the best wedding food and service they've ever experienced--and the best food and service, period. One of my aunts commented that she's never been to a wedding where the waitstaff actually placed the napkin on her lap and kept water glass full. A friend said that she felt like she was a special guest at the restaurant, as opposed to most weddings where you don't really receive personal attention from the staff. People raved about every single course, and my mom is still getting phone calls from family and friends who say that they'll be coming back to the restaurant to dine.\r\rThroughout this whole process, Rina was patient with my fiance and me; not only were we planning the wedding from out of state, but we kept going back and forth about the kind of wedding we wanted to have (more guests or less? dancing or not? lunch or dinner?). She gave us many option to accommodate our wishes and needs. I highly recommend Rina and Cafe Cortina for out of state brides (and in state, too, obviously, but she's very flexible and effective at working with brides who can't come to the restaurant in person very often). We didn't happen to use these vendors because we already had found our own, but Rina can even suggest vendors for you, from flowers to cakes, to officiants.\r\rIt's a really unique wedding venue, too; the garden patio is lovely, the dining rooms are both beautiful and don't really require much additional decoration (no need to spend money on chair covers or elaborate centerpieces). And most importantly (at least in our opinion) your wedding food will not be \"wedding food\"--it's high quality, made to order, delicious food that you and your guests will love.

There really are NOT enough words to describe how beautiful EVERYTHING was! Just the setting alone was above and beyond what we ever imagined. And once it got dark... even more AMAZING! Having never seen the patio at night, it was just far more gorgeous than we ever dreamed. And of course the service and the food were impeccable! We could not be any happier with the way our special day turned out. My only sadness comes from knowing that we can't do it AGAIN! And that there aren't enough days in a year for other people to have the opportunity to experience their weddings at Café Cortina.\r\rWe have heard SO MANY great things from our family and other guests about how wonderful our wedding was. LOTS of glowing adjectives. People amazed at the quality of service and attention to detail. Our families are the kind of people that like to \"help out\
