As part of the Calamigos Ranch collective, Calamigos Los Angeles sits within 75 secluded acres in beautiful and historic Griffith Park and brings a little country to the big city. When hosting your wedding here, you have a choice of three garden ceremony sites, each with its own reception venue: the The Cottage + Polo Room, the Equestrian Ballroom + Garden and the Grand Prix Room + Grand Prix Garden.
Whether you’re hosting 100 or 400 guests, we are dedicated to creating a memorable occasion for you and your loved ones.
THE COTTAGE + POLO ROOM
The Cottage, a quaint little house nestled on several acres of lush grass, features a tree-lined ceremony garden with a romantic flowing waterfall. With an interior designed for today’s couple, it serves as a spacious dressing room or wedding suite. From here, it is just a short walk to The Polo Room for the reception. With white paneling and natural light, it boasts a grand bar, chandeliers and a wall of French doors opening onto a large cocktail patio.
EQUESTRIAN BALLROOM + GARDEN
The serene Garden provides the ideal ceremony setting and cocktail hour scene for your guests to enjoy after your wedding vows. The garden features a rock waterfall which is beautifully lined with bougainvillea and ivy-covered walls and is shaded by a romantic canopy aglow with bistro lights. Additionally, the Equestrian Ballroom comes with a beautiful wraparound cocktail breezeway lined with ivy and summer ceiling fans. The Equestrian Ballroom is an elegant reception space with a built-in bar, chandeliers, and wall of floor-to-ceiling glass panels doors that open onto the Garden. It creates the perfect balance and flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.
GRAND PRIX ROOM + GARDEN
The Grand PRIX GARDEN provides an intimate ceremony spot and offers a stunning expansive rock waterfall, tropical palms, ivy hedged walls and a mountain view. The adjacent cocktail breezeway leads guests into the Gatsby inspired Grand Prix Room, with three striking prism chandeliers and a hand-carved wooden fireplace.

Calamigos Los Angeles Reviews
Angela Marusiak(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-07-2022 Calamigos saved our wedding. Our first venue was shut down and we were lucky that Calamigos had our date available. The food was amazing and they were able to accommodate the special diets of our guests. When we had fewer guests accept our invites than we anticipated, Emily worked with us to hit their minimum and made the guest experience even more amazing. We would highly recommend them. Kelsey Alter(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2022 This venue is truly a hidden gem! I have to say, the moment we drove up we knew it was the venue we wanted to say \"I Do\" at! We got married at The Little White House and in the Polo Room, and we absolutely love the little details and just how much Calamigos upkeeps their property is fantastic. We went to venues that were purely disgusting, and I love that from the grass to the succulents to the waterfall, everything looks fresh, clean, and ready for a wedding! The girls get ready in the White House to put on their dress before first look, where the guys get ready in a room near the Polo Room. The property is absolutely exquisite for pictures and truly will wow your guests. While a beautiful venue is indeed important for a wedding, what we appreciate most about Calamigos, being a premier LA wedding venue is their excellent customer service. Their team has ALWAYS been there for questions and wisdom, and they helped us through the COVID-19 uncertainties. We were originally supposed to get married June 12, 2021, though in April 2021 we did not even barely have vaccines. So they truly made the process so seamless for us to move the date to a date that worked for us, June 11, 2022! They were very understanding that our family and friends would not feel comfortable at that time coming to our wedding with everything still so fresh and uncertain.Beyond COVID, for the overall wedding process from start to finish, the service was FANTASTIC. The sales and operations staff is amazing throughout your booking and planning process (Kat and Emily), the day-of bar and wait staff were speedy and provided quality service to our guests. The food was impeccable. We received SO many compliments from our guests about this venue. One thing I will say is the red wine was not great (too sweet), though they were kind enough to let us bring in our own red wine so guests could enjoy, especially since we only did beer and wine. I will also say, it is TOTALLY worth it to upgrade the appetizers to the meat skewers so your guests can have hearty protein before they get their meal (which may take a while because of speeches). We will always cherish Calamigos LA near and dear to our heart, and would recommend this venue to any bride in a heartbeat! Margaret Kee(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-05-2022 The venue was really great and accommodating. We liked how the venue came with a ceremony area separate from the reception area. Also, the venue had their own bartenders, alcohol, food, wait staff, and staff to break down and set up the reception/cocktail area. There was also a bridal suite which allowed me and my bridesmaids to put our dresses on before the ceremony. It also gave me some space away from the guests during the reception for some air and time to change into my reception dress. However, there was a hiccup with the vendor meals, which was stressful for our vendors. Before the wedding, we also received our final invoice and had to scramble to get a cashier's check before our deadline. It worked out that hubby was WFH, but I don't know how other couples are able to get a cashier's check in time. We did ask for an extension, which Calamigos was more than accommodating. It was just stressful to try to reach the bank(s) in time before they closed, but we were able to go on a weekend with the extension provided. Our guests did rave about the food - both dinner and appetizers. Also, they liked how fast the bartender(s) were in making the drinks for all the guests.I would recommend this venue for brides and grooms who do not want to seek separate catering, staff, alcohol, ceremony area, and reception area. Seth Vitál(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-08-2021 On 08/21/2021, I performed for a wedding at Calamigos Los Angeles (I'm a wedding DJ/MC). It was by far one of the most pleasant experiences I've had working with a venue all year. Their staff was friendly, punctual, and well in tune with what the couple had envisioned for their wedding. Austin (the manager that night) was awesome to work with, and based on what I saw, I'd expect the same level of professionalism from the rest of Calamigos' team as well. The venue itself is gorgeous, and it has the perfect layout for a full wedding (separate, but adjacent sites for Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, and Reception). The couple I worked with used one of the outdoor spaces for a traditional Hindu Ceremony in the morning, and they used one of the indoor ballrooms for an American Reception in the evening (they were extremely happy about how their wedding went). I'd gladly work with Calamigos Los Angeles and their staff again, and I highly recommend them to any couple in need of an amazing wedding venue! Reviewed on 10-09-2021
Jessica Cheng(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-09-2021 My husband and I cannot recommend Calamigos at all. Jared Sirkin(groom)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-11-2020 Disappointed...My fiance and I booked our wedding for November 2020 at Calamigos. We loved the place. It was the perfect package for us. The ceremony site and ballroom were beautiful! As we all know though, things have changed over the last few months. My fiance and I no longer feel confident that we can plan the wedding we want in November, given the current state of the world amid this pandemic. We would have guests traveling from Asia, NYC, and elsewhere. Some elderly, some immunocompromised. We expressed our concerns to Calamigos and proactively wanted to find out what our options were. We were told that If we were still dealing with the pandemic, Calamigos would reach out mid to late-September to discuss possible alternatives in direct relation to COVID-19. We were also told we could refer to our contract with regards to rescheduling the event and that all payment terms were expected to move forward as listed in the contract.I spoke with someone else who informed that the contract only allows us to reschedule within the same calendar year. Surely there would be some flexibility given the current situation... Nope...I get it, they have a business to run, but none of this smelled good and our next large deposit date was approaching. We now no longer felt comfortable with our venue. We asked to cancel. Given the current situation, we asked for some of our deposit back. We understand that the deposit was non-refundable, but a little flexibility would have been appreciated given the financial impact this pandemic has caused.Their response: Unfortunately, deposits are non-refundable but we will allow you to reschedule to next year at next years prices ($4 more per person). Another slap in the face...I can't say that i've ever ran a business, but I can say that this type of customer service is a sure fire way to lose business. We expressed that was not an option for us and asked to cancel again. I received a call the next day telling me to just wait it out, and that I'm just losing money and doing myself a disservice. Still, no conversation of flexibility on anything. They pleaded with me, but did nothing for me. I asked to move forward with cancellation.Again, we understand the contract and their position, but nobody could have ever anticipated a pandemic that is expected to impact large gatherings of people for likely the rest of the year. You would expect that the venue who claims that they are dedicated to creating a joyous and memorable occasion for you and your loved ones, would have a little sympathy...Calamigos is a beautiful venue and we were very excited to get married there. Unfortunately, there is just absolutely no flexibility whatsoever, despite this unprecedented event outside of our control. Reviewed on 01-06-2020
Susan Huon(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2019 I booked Calamigos Equestrian for my Autumn wedding in September. I received absolutely nothing but complements for the venue's location, accommodations, food, and overall aesthetic. Some things to know if you're looking for a venue to book when you're a nervous wreck from realizing you have to plan a wedding!1) Location: This location is right off of the 134 freeway and super close to Burbank Airport. You're basically making it really easy for guests to come to you. They're free to fly directly in on the day of the wedding, or drive just outside of the insane traffic that is Downtown LA/Hollywood.2) Flexibility: Calamigos offers 3 different ballrooms+ceremony sites. Each with it's own aesthetic for you to find the room that's right for you. I ended up booking the Equestrian Grand Ballroom because I absolutely adored that open floor plan with lots of windows to fit with my rustic wedding theme3) PARKING: I absolutely cannot emphasize how important it was that this location had it's own individual parking lots for each of the 3 ballrooms. We didn't cross over at all with the other weddings AND it was right next to the entrance of our ballroom, which means that even your latest arrivals can still manage to park, and walk right up to your wedding without any issues. You'll find a lot of other venues (hotels mostly) are usually difficult for guests to either valet their cars in time, or find a parking spot not 4 floors down with them running in heels to get into your ceremony in time!4) Convenience: One of the best things about this location is that the individual ball rooms essentially contain 3 things in the exact same place, but separated brilliantly so it allows for transitions through the evening: Ceremony Site, Cocktail Hour Area/Hallway, Reception Banquet Hall. I was able to do my Ceremony into Cocktail Hour into Reception seamlessly with the guests only needing to take 10 steps into the next location. This was the number 1 reason for compliments of the evening.5) Food: You get to try literally everything they have to offer before making a choice. That means that you get to try all the appetizers, hor dourves, and main courses before making a choice on what everyone gets to eat. And all the food really was delicious! We went with the Prime Rib and Salmon with Miso Ginger for the meat choices, and the Goat Cheese Ravioli for the Vegetarian options. They were delicious!6) Aesthetics: This place is beautiful. There is a beautiful grassy area with a fountain background for the ceremony site, along with overhead shades in case it's sunny or even lightly raining if necessary. There's beautifully strung lights for when it gets dark which made the area right outside of where my reception is held absolutely beautiful. The whole place screams rustic with it's white horizontally wood lined walls on the outside of the building7) Friendly: Kathy coordinated with me for my wedding day, and me being me, sometimes a bit unorganized, had a million emails sent to her. Everything from random changes, to trying to figure out \"OMG IS THERE A PLACE FOR ME TO TAKE PICTURES BEFORE THE CEREMONY STARTS?\" are well documented in my mile long email chain. She was kind and responsive and responded in organized bullet points. I appreciate her accommodating all of my crazy last minute changes too, which up until 2 days before the wedding still had 1!Wedding planning is stressful. I'm just thankful the venue I chose was stress free. Reviewed on 06-11-2019
Jacqueline Adad(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-10-2019 Had my wedding at Calamigos Equestrian October 2019, and from start to finish, it was an amazing experience! It was the first venue my husband and I looked at, and after the tour we were like \"well, that checked off all the boxes!\" It felt silly even trying to look at other places. At minimum, we were looking for a place that had good food and had a late curfew (which I feel is rare in the LA area), but Calamigos has it all! First of all, we were able to enjoy our wedding until midnight (but apparently you can negotiate for even later).Personally, I find it to be such a buzz kill to get kicked out of a venue at 10 pm when I feel the party is just getting started, so it was awesome that Calamigos could accommodate that. Second and probably most important, the food was phenomenal! We had 120 guests, and every entree came out cooked perfectly...we received so many compliments. Plus, the food tasting event was such a fun experience! Beyond that, the serving staff the day of was stellar (they have everything down to a science), all our Calamigos contacts were so helpful and organized - shout out to Mike and Kathy, alcohol was included in the package, and the space is simply stunning. My husband and I instantly fell in love with the ivy on the white panel walls and the black cast iron details. Honestly, pictures don't do it justice! We felt like we had the best of both worlds too, having an beautiful outdoor ceremony and then a ballroom reception. Cherry on top, all this came for a very competitive price! We got so many more perks at Calamigos compared to the other venues we researched. Ultimately, they gave me the beautiful, stress free wedding experience I dreamed of...I highly, highly recommend!!!Also, we booked Steve Rosenbaum as our day of coordinator. He is the preferred coordinator for the venue, and he was absolutely spectacular! I had so many DIY decorations, and was a little apprehensive that it wouldn't be set up the way I wanted, but he was so meticulous and went out of his way to make my vision a reality. Additionally, he was so helpful with helping create the wedding program, and gave us so many good tips that helped the night go so much smoother. Beyond just coordinating stuff, he really ensured that my husband and I enjoyed our special day! For instance, he made sure that we got a sample of the cocktail appetizers when we were busy taking pictures, and kept topping off our champagne glasses throughout the night. He was an absolute dream, I cannot rave about him enough!! Reviewed on 28-10-2019
Athena Padilla(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-08-2019 Kathy is amazing at this venue! We did not go forth with a coordinator so my husband and I were doing all the work. Kathy and the rest of the team were very communicative, and answered every single question we had. Our guests LOVED their food choices and the cake from Portos was beautiful and tasty. The dinner service was super efficient and the night went along without a hitch. The venue works extremely well with vendors, even those that are not on their preferred list. During our planning, my husband and I have noticed that they have been 'revamping' the property (new modern signs, painting, more greenery), which makes Calamigos look even more stunning. BONUS: we got to take pictures at the Little White House as there was not a scheduled event taking place! YAY! Reviewed on 17-08-2019

The planning process was super smooth with their friendly and helpful staff (especially Kathy, Mike, and wedding coordinator Steve). We sent a lot of questions along the way, and always got quick and professional replies. The day-of in the Little White House and the Polo Room was just as fantastic. The ceremony was at The Little White House and the reception was at The Polo Room. From the beginning, we loved the ambiance of Calamigos. We really wanted a outdoor ceremony and indoor reception, and Calamigos was the prefect place! We loved the beauty and shade of the trees as well as the front law, flowers, and background mountains. The Polo Room has a great feel too-really nice, but also able to be laid back at the same time with a nice outdoor patio for going in and out. \r\rWhen we were deciding on Calamigos, Michael took the time to meet with us and answer our questions and they even provided appetizers when we met with them. They also have a few photo books so that you can really get a feel for the venue and ideas of how your wedding will look.\r\rThe food tasting was awesome, they have one twice a year and you get to taste everything. We ended up going with the salmon and beef tenderloin and veggie pasta and received many compliments on the food and of course Calamigos’ ambiance.\r\rKat and Abigail helped answer our questions as the wedding was getting closer and made us feel at ease. During the wedding Kat was on top of everything in coordinating everyone in adding to the calm and happy day.\r\rOur wedding turned out beautifully and was just what we wanted! It also was really nice to have the ceremony right across from the reception so that people could just walk over.\r\rThe only thing that we did not care for was that we (bride and groom, bridal party, parents) had to move all of our personal belongings, etc. over to the reception from the Little White House right after taking pictures, It ate up time and was awkward and would have been been much easier if we could have left our items there and picked them up at the end of the night or have someone from Calamigos help to bring it over.\r\rOther than that, everything else went beautifully and flowed well and it was just a happy and fun time! Calamigos was a beautiful venue to get married at. We got married at the Equestrian ballroom...which I think is the best out of the other 2 ballrooms. It has a classier feel, rather than the other two.\rThe place is clean and polished. The food was ONE OF THE BEST! Everyone raved about the beef & goat cheese raviola. The prices are a bit high...so please figure out what you really don't need (unlimited or higher class alcohol, appetizers, desserts, etc) and choose this venue! The staff at the wedding was amazing and very helpful. \r\rThe only part that we were a bit upset was the no show guest's food (10 ppl). They were thrown away from guests that did not show. Since each plates were already made and pricey, we wanted to take them togo for our late night dinner. They agreed & then they later came back and said it was gone & someone threw it out?! \r\rSo please communicate clearly. Other than that...this place is a great & convenient place for guests and the bridal party. The ceremony and reception are all connected. \r\rOne complaint was...there was a horse show going on , so during our ceremony a big truck had his engine on in the parking lot, adjacent to our ceremony. I could not hear anything that the pastor was saying or asking me. Next time, Calamigos should block off with cones or signs ...big trucks from being close to the ceremony area during the wedding vows. Reviewed on 19-11-2013

Simi Conard(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-07-2012 We had our wedding at the Equestrian Terrace and Ballroom. We had approximately 100 guests and our wedding cost over $17,000. We had the Sweet Amore package, with upgraded tray passed appetizers, additional cash bar hours, cappuccino bar, and dessert trays. \r\rOur initial meeting was with Dierdre, who was lovely, but she disappeared from the process shortly after we signed the contract. Virginia was then our go-to person for any questions. Virginia is very nice, but not prompt on responses. \rFrom our initial meeting, we requested a dual plate. We were notified there was no issue with it and at no extra cost. However, at our FINAL meeting, we were informed there is a $7.50 per guest fee. I did not include a meal card with our invitations because we were under the impression it was at no extra cost and I had to contact all our guests to ask for their meal choice. Also, you have to put a decal or print a symbol on all the place cards so the servers know which meal the guest will be having. The wording on the menu options is extremely misleading and they refused to waive the added cost due to the confusion.\rAlso at our initial meeting, we requested to have lots of tables spread out so that the room would look fuller with less guests. We were notified it would not be an issue and could use all the tables they have reserved for our room. However, when I gave them the final guest count, they said we could only use 11 tables and any more tables would cost an additional $250.\rMy family is Greek and at weddings, Greeks break plates on the floor. I notified them in advance and asked if we could bring in cheap plates so that the guests would not break their plates. We even suggested going to a restaurant depot and purchasing the exact plates they carry to replace any broken on the night of the wedding. They notified me it would be a $1500 damage deposit, have to pay $10 per plate broken, and have to put a credit card on file. I notified all my guests they were not allowed to break plates and notified Virginia the deposit and credit card on file would not be necessary. HOWEVER, Virginia persisted and notified us it was now required. There was no wording in the contract that stated there was a $1500 deposit and they still insisted. We refused.\rThe hours on the packaging is very misleading as well. We had a schedule of how we wanted our wedding, from the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception to go. That was a major issue as well. \r\rOn a positive note, our Party Captain (our go-to person the night of the wedding) was amazing! He checked on us regularly through out the night. He brought us appetizers in the bridal room so we could have a taste. He waited until he saw us sitting down and then brought us our meals so that they would not be cold.\rThe food was amazing! We had the grilled beef tenderloin, herb roasted chicken, and goat cheese raviola. We upgraded our appetizers and had the beef skewers, stuffed mushroom caps, and bruschetta. The wait staff was great as well-very quick at serving and clean up.\rOur bartender was excellent! A very friendly guy and made great drinks! Towards the end of the night, he recognized a few of our guests and had drinks ready for them before they could ask!\rWe met our cappuccino barista at the menu tasting and he notified us not to pay any more than $600 for two hours. Calamigos said it would cost $750.\rOverall, they charge you for every little thing, but our wedding was beautiful and an awesome party! Reviewed on 09-08-2012

Everyone loved the food, especially the cocktails (I love the sundried tomato torta). Make sure you know where you can and cannot take pictures before and after the ceremony, because you are limited to certain spaces based upon whether there is another wedding at the venue at the same time. Tracy Harrison(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-10-2011 My husband and I are very happy that we had our big day at Calamigos Equestrian. Although not cheap, the beauty of the venue and the quality of food and service all make the price tag worthwhile. Everything--at least to my knowledge and from my perspective--was perfect on our wedding. Little things (like a bottle of champagne, pitchers of iced water and a plate of cheese and fruits in the bridal room) totally made a big difference in our experience. \rWe had our ceremony in the Little White House and cocktail hour plus reception in the Grand Prix Ballroom. All our guests were impressed with how beautiful the venue is and also how terrific the food was! Since we had an unexpected drop in numbers for attendance, we decided to upgrade the food/drink package for those guests who were able to make it. In the end, everyone kept telling us how delicious the food was and how generous the portions or quantities were. We're so thrilled that our guests had a great time. And we did too; so much so that night felt like it just flew by so fast!\rOh, and the food captain on our wedding was terrific! I had 105 guests for a Sunday evening wedding.\rI was very pleased with my choice for my wedding location, and my guests are STILL talking about my wedding. \rThe location grounds are beautiful and SO CLEAN--the funny thing is you NEVER smell the horse stables! (that was my first concern when I was considering having my wedding here).\rThe planning staff is really nice, and helpful.Virginia is wonderful. My only complaint staff-wise would be there was some significant miscommunication between the sales and event planning staff-but it was all sorted out by the time the wedding came around. \rOne of the greatest parts about this location is that the food is EXCELLENT! Not your typical mediocre \"wedding food!\" \rThey only have 2 food tastings a year, so if you plan your wedding between the 2 tastings (I did, not knowing this), you might have to commit to your menu before trying it--that's what happened to me, and I pretty much freaked out...but it was okay. \rYour wedding pictures will be beautiful because there are SO MANY great little nooks and greenery spots to take your pictures at.\rI really liked how they had a few \"sites\" on the property to have your ceremony and reception at. I chose the garden with the fountain and the ballroom that it's attached to. \rI would definitely recommend this location...and can send you pictures if you're interested!\r\r Reviewed on 26-10-2011

Leslie Africa(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-07-2011 PROS: Everything, except... \rCONS: No tastings (but the food is great, so don't worry!)\r\rWe just celebrated our wedding at Calamigos in July 2011 and it was truly an event to remember! We chose the Oaks as our venue. It's one of the smaller locations, and it was just right for our 85 guests. The entire place was very impressive and photo-friendly... even the path leading up to the ceremony and reception areas. All around the property were fountains, nice landscaping, and trees with hanging twinkle lights. The vineyard and horse sculptures at the entrance were also very picturesque. \r\rThe entire staff was a pleasure to work with - the Weddings & Banquets team, the wait staff, the bartenders, the valet, and even the groundskeepers and cleaning crew! They were all very professional and super-helpful. Everyone at the head office kept very good notes. Throughout the planning process, I called often, asked a lot of questions, and even dropped by to take measurements and drop off payments, and they were always very friendly and accommodating every time. I even got to \"hugging terms\" with a couple of the reps because they saw and spoke to me so often... mainly, Claudia and Cindy, who were absolute dolls! \r\rAs many of the other reviewers have already mentioned, they don't offer tastings, but there's nothing to worry about... the food is very good and plentiful! We chose the sit-down dinner option and the portions for the salad and entree were huge! We also added the Passed Hors d'Oeuvres and they were absolutely delicious!!! I would highly recommend adding them, if your budget is permitting. It was worth it for us since many of our guests were foodies, had big appetites, or both. \r\rI also appreciated the fact that almost everything was taken care of by one point of contact. They provide a lot in their packages. The only things that we were responsible for were the officiant, photographer, cake, music, and flowers. Everything else (catering, wait staff, bar service, rentals, valet, etc.) was taken care of by Calamigos. (I couldn't imagine having to book all of those vendors individually!) And since everything is readily available on their property, they can also do things like add extra tables and chairs and things like that at no additional charge... which is nice. \r\rI would definitely recommend Calamigos for your wedding or special event. All of our guests were complimenting us on the venue. It's definitely not the typical hotel or country club, it's much much more. Reviewed on 17-08-2011
Jessica Isco(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-07-2011 Overall, we were very happy with Calamigos. We got married in the Equestrian Terrace and had our reception in the Equestrian Ballroom. Both were absolutely beautiful. After our tasting (which is done in a large group), I was worried about the food. However, on the day of the wedding, the food was MUCH better than expected. There were several errors made during our wedding (they ran out of food at cocktail hour), but, once brought to their attention, things were quickly fixed (they brought out additional, more expensive food ASAP). The staff at Calamigos is hit or miss. Some can be rude and extremely uncooperative (such as one of the bartenders at our wedding), but some go above and beyond to help. Crystal Shaw(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-06-2011 Calamigos Ranch was the first venue I visited, and I couldn't find any other that came remotely close to how picture perfect this location was. All of their four locations are great and most can be decorated to suit virtually any wedding theme. \r\rWe had our event at the Cottage and Pavilion with a buffet style reception. Of the four, this location provides the biggest wow-factor by far. There's a huge tree that the wedding ceremony takes place under and an open tent for the reception. The buffet spread is also a great value for the money, and all of our guests were able to go back for seconds! Calamigos does not allow food tastings before an event, but they have an amazing reputation and the food was excellent. There were no complaints from any guests which is a miracle in and of itself!\r\rThe lighting was amazing which made for excellent wedding photos. This venue was definitely worth our money. The reasons I didn't give five stars, though were that I had a little difficulty with the day-of coordinator and the buffet decorations. The day-of coordinator wasn't there for the majority of the set-up time, and she couldn't be found when we had some serious set-up issues. This caused unnecessary stress for my bridal party that day so my advice would be to make things clear at meetings with your day-of coordinator that they will be there at certain times and available to answer questions or concerns for you. The buffet spread was the responsibility of the venue to decorate. They say they have professional florists come in to do the decorations and cannot take your color or theme into consideration. When my bridal party showed up, there were giant vases of rainbow colored sand and fake flower arrangements all along the buffet table. My maid-of-honor ended up shoving the arrangements under the table and no one knew the difference. I felt like the venue had misinformed me as far as these arrangements were concerned, and I feel like this didn't match up to the quality I had expected from such a great venue like this. It was delicious, but screwed up. Multiple tables were served \"leftover\" plates. Calamigos ran out of both chicken and steak, so they sent my guests a plate of side dishes. How embarrassing! And then I got charged full price. Even if my head count numbers were off, how could they possibly run out of both chicken AND steak? Also, a handful of guests failed to show, as happens at every wedding, but they still brought plates of food to those place settings. If they were that short on protein, why were they serving people who had not even shown up?\r\r4) For the price you pay, the timing is too short. When you are planning, it seems like enough time, but we were rushed through the whole night. All of my guests complained that it ended too early. I know there is not much Calamigos can do about that given the noise restrictions, but most other venues charge the same and you get an extra hour. LEAH Irwin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-09-2009 After visiting the site to speak with representatives more than once and reading reviews, I decided on Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. The setting could not be more beautiful, and there are at least four different gorgeous sites to pick from at the ranch. I loved it because I was able to take out some of the hassle by having the ceremony site, reception site, catering, and most of the decor already available all in this one venue. The setting is so beautiful that you can decorate a lot, or keep it very minimal and focus on the natural beauty of the area. I was married in the Garden Patio setting and the reception was in the Lodge Restaurant adjoined to that area. The food was great and you have plenty of options for food, decor, bar service, dates and times. One thing I would recommend when going with this vendor is to be very on top of your wedding and really try to be in contact with the wedding coordinators at Calamigos, since they are busy. To ensure everything turns out correctly, take it upon yourself to call them to confirm certain plans in advance, and to remind them of guarantees and promises that they made you during booking. I did this, and they performed their duties wonderfully the day of the event. If you are on a budget there are ways to make a custom menu to lower the overall price (having a morning wedding and cutting the bar service will save you a lot, and it's gorgeous in the morning there anyway). Sometimes you can share special provided decor with another bride who has already ordered it or is wanting to split the price. I was extremely happy with the services they provided - it was a perfect day. Many of my guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. Reviewed on 17-05-2010

Kristina McGann(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-10-2006 It was a great price and the room was very pretty. We wanted an open bar and their prices were great for the bar. The food was beautifully presented. We liked the private bathroom in each room, so you do not see other brides on your special day. I loved the tealights and white lights around the room. Melissa Kaplan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-08-2008 The atmosphere was incredible. The way the room was designed made you feel like you were in a different time and place. The room was all white with iron-like chandoliers the trees had twinkle lights there was tons of greenery and a separate room just for the cake.;There wasn't anything I would warn other couples about. The reception venue was perfect. Reviewed on 10-05-2010
Stephanie Lee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-10-2006 It was a beautiful reception site and the staff was wonderful. From the moment we chose the site until after the ceremony itself, the staff was always there to help us. The staff at Calamigos was very flexible with some requests we had for our dinner and wine selection. On the day of our wedding, we absolutely loved our wedding coordinator as well as the banquet supervisor. They both made the cermony and reception occur without any problems. I really felt like I didn't have to worry about a thing that day. Even some of my guests commented to me how attentive the staff was to meeting requests. Reviewed on 10-05-2010
Tawny Dicce(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-05-2009 Everything. The view was gorgeous the flowers were blooming it was a beautiful day outside. Alpaka Rabbit(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-04-2008 I loved the attention that went into placing each favor at each place setting. The hall was breathtakingly beautiful. The food was so so good. They even set up a place for us to have food while we took pictures. It was awesome!;My wedding was in April but I hear that during the summer there can be a lot of flies around. Also we got our bar service included with dinner but during peak times of the year bar service is not included. Reviewed on 23-01-2009
Tananya Kamchamnan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-06-2008 The reception had no charge for parking. We had our ceremony there as well and the guests walked over to the reception area.;There are many cooks in the kitchen...Someone in the sales department might say one thing but the wedding planner onsite might tell you something different. Sarah Rosales(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-07-2006 Great food, everything else was such a blur!;The wedding coordinator which was provided by the site was HORRIBLE! She was late to our ceremony, which made everything run late. Also, we were married in July, it was about 90 degrees at night and they didn't turn the air on at the reception site until one hour before the ceremony. It was extremely hot in the Polo Room. ANGELA SCHRIMSHER(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-05-2007 The wedding planner was amazing! She made sure everything went smoothly and that we had a wonderful time - we didn't have to think about a thing! The ambiance was just what I wanted. Windows overlooked the riding arena and the french doors opened to the patio where people could enjoy their cocktails. My only complaint was that the night went by much too fast!;My only complaint is that the bartenders had tip jars on the bar (we weren't aware of until after the reception). We felt this was especially tacky considering we had tipped the staff based on our entire bill. I mentioned this in the survey Calamigos requested we complete and haven't heard from them. We felt embarrassed and wished one of our family members would have alerted us during our wedding. Reviewed on 30-09-2007
