Carly McCullough(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-09-2020 We got married at the boathouse about a month ago. Everything was great and no issues and then covid happened. We were thrilled they were doing a tent option and we didn’t want to post pone getting married so decided to give it a go. We had asked if the price changed due to the outdoor option and were told we would be given a free chair rental and ceremony fee !So we thought why not let’s get it a go.Super curious on what a wedding would look like here we have driven by often to check out the tent, we noticed another wedding had rented an additional tent and we decided we wanted to do the same.So we reached out to rent the addition tent and then were asked if we wanted to also rent the tent panels. We were confused the side panels on the tent had been there and never taken down so why after us reaching out would they now be an additional charge. Makes me wonder if we never reached out about additional tent if it would be booked at all. When asking the boathouse about this we were told that the panels are mostly removed after every event and have always been additional. This is not true we have driven there week after week and they stayed there. Perhaps they forgot to remove them each time and I would have been more understanding if told this but we were told that they were not always there, and that we didn’t see them. This is when everything changed. The boathouse then became rather nasty. In the end they had said if rain was predicted that day they could provide the side tent panels. My only confusion is that if you are converting to an outdoor option you should be able to accommodate the outdoors. Now come the WEEK of my wedding we were then told we were no longer receiving a ceremony chair rental because they had “give us too much already” it was never said since we got the tent panels we were responsible for the chairs and this was never brought up until lascalas asked about the chairs. This is when we felt entirely fed up. My husband had been dealing with them up untill this point and after much back and forth that didn’t end well I decided to try to mediate the situation. Well let me just say I was never spoken to more rudely or as unprofessional as by Danielle in my life. We are both easy going people, our only issue was just having the tent for our wedding as we have always seen it. With one side panel. When stating this we were told in a nasty voice that she was “shocked” that we were easy going people who do not complain. I didn’t feel as though that was such a extreme over accommodating request as we were made to feel. However because of that request we were treated like we were trying to get “everything for free” and spoken to with ultimate disgust. Luckily everything worked out for us the day of, and we were able to have a great day despite our feelings leading up. Thank god for lascalas and Sammi running the show otherwise I would have felt extremely uncomfortable. I was not going to write a review and “leave it at that” since we were able to enjoy our day but I felt compelled after another bride from the boathouse reached out after having being treated similar. Which was funny to me as we were told we were the only couple giving them such trouble. If you are thinking of having your outdoor event here perhaps think again. Being a rather affordable venue compared to most, the staff definitely reflects this. May be more worth it to upgrade to a more established venue with higher quality staff and save yourself the stress. Reviewed on 16-10-2020

Ali deMedeiros(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-11-2019 My wife and I got married at the Camden County Boathouse last fall. We were absolutely blown away by the space when we first viewed it in the summer of 2018 when we were intially planning the wedding. During the course of our planning, the place underwent a total renovation. So now, not only does it have an insane deck, gorgeous windows, vaulted ceilings and plenty of space for guests, but it also has brand new floors, amazing light fixtures, and exposed beam accents. We got married in the space in front of the windows at sunset and our photographer was able to get some amazing pictures. We also utilized the deck, the docks and the upstairs balcony for our wedding photos and they were stunning. We had about 130 people at our wedding and did a buffet style. There was plenty of room to dance, eat, and get food in an orderly fashion. The staff was wonderful, and worked with us to get a rehearsal time that accommodated our spread-out bridal party. They were also very permissive about our decor and even stored it in their offices the day before to ease set-up. The venue allows you to pick one of three caterers. We went with Foodwerx which was excellent and reasonably priced. In fact, we were completed surprised about the value we were getting at this venue for the price we paid. Reviewed on 18-03-2020

The renovations made this past year and gorgeous. All of our guests complimented the venue all night! My one and only disappointment was that there was a Regatta going on during my wedding. The Boathouse staff did call me the week before to let me know there would be a tent set up out back for it so I was prepared. I just wasn't prepared to see trucks parked all around the venue, the tent blocking the whole back of it, and people and equipment everywhere. This wasn't the Boathouse's fault, but I did miss out of lots of great pictures because of this. We couldn't take any exterior pictures of the building, any pictures on the beautiful deck, and the crew boats were blocking all of the grounds. We anxiously awaited the completion of the renovations and the outdoor ceremony area looks SO NICE, and the cost was SO AFFORDABLE. They were very accommodating with allowing rose petals to be thrown at the end of the ceremony, and went through the contract with us so we understood all of it. Also, there was a bank issue where the check never got to the office or it got lost or something, and they were so nice about it, I didn't even realize there was an issue until I saw them in person. The space itself offers enough of a blank slate to be as creative or simplistic as we'd like, and the availability of a patio was a great option. We were a little worried about having a 530pm wedding on a Friday when the crew teams would still be on the water, but they were so polite and respectful, and it was super cute that they stopped what they were doing to watch the ceremony happen. The wooden window blinds provided the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and we had nothing but compliments from our guests about the ambiance. The boathouse had also recently gone through some upgrades which made the night even better - the bridal suite was upgraded to include a few pieces of beautiful furniture for our wedding party to relax in (no more conference table) and the bar area was redone so that there was an entrance from the dining area. It was perfect! The boathouse also recently acquired uplighting, and was able to offer it to us at a lower price than our DJ. She was incredibly responsive via email and patiently answered my seemingly endless list of questions! She worked with me to schedule two rehearsals because my officiant was out of town the day before the wedding, and was always accommodating when it came to my busy teaching schedule. She also allowed us to drop off decorations and non-refrigerated items the day before so there wasn't as much to think about the day of the wedding. The dance floor is smack in front of the main entrance to the space meaning you have to push through people dancing to get to your table.\r\rThere is a cute little space for an outdoor ceremony just down the sidewalk which is adorable, BUT here's the real reason I give this place two stars:\r\rMy parents were paying for the wedding and two weeks out from the event after paying everything required by their contract all of a sudden \"extra\" fees start appearing all over the place. They nickel and dimed us at every turn in those last two weeks. We had favor bags that we DIY'd that we brought there to use and instead of using them they used these generic paper bags that just said \"Thank You\" on them amongst other \"forgotten\" small things.\r\rWe were also told we could pack everything up and pick it up the next day (we asked weeks ahead of time). AS GUESTS ARE LEAVING THE RECEPTION they tell us \"all of your things have to be out of here before you leave tonight\". CRAZY RUDE. The ceremony was going to be at the caterer's location and then they were going to cater our reception at the boathouse. I never wanted to have my ceremony at the boathouse and I expressed this from the beginning and I was not about to pick another one of their caterers that was out of my budget anyway. But the boathouse did not accept responsibility for their \"preferred\" caterer's screw up and did not even offer to refund part of the deposit. They just apologized and that was it. I had no choice but to move everything because their one caterer I could afford screwed up and was very rude to me and never even apologized to me for over booking when I had signed with him in 2011. Their caterers represent them as well and if they are going to make clients choose from their list of caterers, they should stand behind them and accept responsibility for their actions as well. I should not be \"forced\" into doing something I never wanted to do or can't afford because their caterer screwed up. Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life and I was forced into having to change everything and I had to eat the majority of the cost for it too.\r\rI emailed a week before our wedding asking if someone else booked our day but they said no one had. I replied professionally expressing my disappointment at how they handled the situation and that they really should refund my deposit (or at least part of it!) because it's not like I just randomly decided to cancel, I was forced into doing so. I was just told \"I'll see what I can do\" and that was the last I heard from them.\r\rDon't book your wedding or any event here. They just take your money and don't care about their clients at all. By the way, the caterer was Lakeside Manor. Their food was not very good either. After I moved my wedding to a new venue, I realized how bad Lakeside Manor's food was. Maybe everything would have gone smoother if the entire day was at the boathouse, but that's not what I wanted and I was told that it wouldn't be a problem. I lost a lot of money, but I did get MUCH better customer service and quality food at the new venue. Reviewed on 22-09-2013
Audrianna Monroe(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2013 MY THEME WAS \"MIAMI ON THE RIVER\" AND THIS WAS THE PERFECT VENUE TO HOST IT. Lisa Braun(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-05-2013 I loved the boathouse because it was the most unique, affordable venue in this area. After reading other reviews, I was worried it would be too crowded at my wedding with 165 guests and a 12-piece band. But it was perfect. Plenty of room to mingle and dance! Reviewed on 12-06-2013
Jocelyn Withers(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-12-2012 The view is amazing! The building itself is beautiful. The boathouse is closed for the public during a wedding (thank god) but a employee needs to be at the facility the entire time so when the men's bathroom runs out of paper towels a hour after the wedding started the employee of the boathouse is there to fill it but after asking 5 different times the paper towels were NEVER filled Reviewed on 06-04-2013
Alison Burke(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-04-2012 I was initially excited about this place, the price is great, they're low key, and it's cute...but the closer it got to the event and the more problems I began to see with it and the more I wished I had picked a different location. The boat decor is really obvious inside the room...and you can't move it. The ceiling is very hard to decorate because it's so high and the ceiling over the dance floor is much lower and is VERY unattractive and you aren't allowed to cover it in any way. Also, even though my decorations were sitting around in plain view for 1 week before the wedding nobody at the boathouse thought to tell me that taper candles aren't allowed. So, come our wedding night all the tapers are on the tables but weren't lit so i asked the staff to please light them (i had envisioned lots of candles) and they informed me that they weren't allowed to...but if they had been votives it would have been different. If I had known I wouldn't have spent the money on the tapers and would have simply gotten votives instead. Huge let down. Our photographer was excellent (Jennifer Davis Photography), however, I cringe at the look of the venue in our reception photos. It just looks so blah and cheap! The glaring neon exit sign...the boring look of the walls...ugh. Thank god we didnt have our ceremony there (it was in the garden at the Haddonfield Historical Society...so lovely!!). So anyway, I'm just a little frustrated with it all right now, but thank goodness we had the time of our LIFE and the memories of the fun we had will always outshine these little details. Good luck! :) Reviewed on 24-10-2012
Eve Miedel(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-10-2011 The Boathouse is a beautiful venue for a reception. The balcony over looking cooper river affords wonderful views and the park surrounding it is a great place for photos (although if it's sleeting/snowing outside like at my wedding you'll have to stick to just the balcony). Even in the bad weather the inside was nice and cozy. One wall is just a huge window with gorgeous wooden shutters. It's really easy to go and look at before the wedding and they are low key about you just wandering around, using the storage and kitchen before your event. Don't expect an elegant candlelit ballroom though, it's a bit on the more rustic side but that's exactly why I loved it. You walk in and feel comfortable and with all the tables and flowers everywhere it looks so beautiful. Reviewed on 01-12-2011
