We just had our wedding at the Castle and it was PERFECT. Tatiana is the absolute best - kind, thoughtful and quick to answer an email! I had my heart SET on a different venue, but after touring the Castle and meeting Tatiana, my fiancee and I both knew it was the right choice for us. Our guests were so impressed and had the best time. It's also in a great location for out of town guests. There are several hotels in Old Pasadena and it's a fun area for friends and family to enjoy. Oh also the day of event staff was amazing and thoughtful as well. It's been such a joy working with everyone at the Castle and our wedding was such a beautiful good time. Reviewed on 29-11-2023

There are not enough words to write how thankful we were to have found this venue at the time we did for our Halloween wedding. My husband instantly fell in love with the venue, the coordinator, Tatiana was excited to work with us and the vibe was great. The entire place feels like something out of the Hollywood Tower Hotel - so if you're like us and need something with a classic/spooky vibe... This place is for you! Everything was organized, professional, and the contract was communicated very clear and effectively by the entire Castle Green Team. You barely even have to decorate the place with the ornate furniture. Booking vendors and customizing our wedding was easy to coordinate, which was hard to find in a world where wedding venues lock you in a box for what you can bring in, who you can book, and what you can have. We couldn't have asked for a better dream location for our dream wedding. Thank you Castle Green & Tatiana! Reviewed on 21-11-2023

Cannot say enough good things about choosing Castle Green as our venue. From the first tour of the property their venue coordinator Tatiana seemed extremely organized and on top of things, and that experience continued up through our wedding day. We always got quick responses to questions and helpful recommendations for vendors. The venue itself is incredible, and unique to anything else we saw in LA. Many of our guests flew in from the East Coast so we wanted something romantic and historic. Not only is the outside stunning for photos, but the inside is really spacious and lent itself to a fabulous ambience. It feels like a luxury historic hotel. There are tons of places to sit in the parlor and living area, a giant fireplace, and lots of corners for people to relax and talk if they don't want to dance during the receptions. Overall, cannot imagine getting married anywhere else. Reviewed on 26-10-2023

Castle Green, quite frankly, was the first choice we made when we were planning our wedding, and what an excellent choice at that. It was the first venue we saw, and after seeing three others, we couldn’t stop comparing them to Castle Green. We immediately had to go back and lock it down. A historical landmark of Pasadena, you really feel you are transported to the past, and that was the experience that we wanted for our guests! They have a curated vendor list that really helped make planning our wedding a flawless experience. Tatiana is the Director of Events there, and she too was a major help from beginning to end. Because several of our friends were expecting, we had to plan our wedding on a three month timeline. While we were looking around for a venue we checked Castle Green, a historical building in Pasadena at that we had often walked by. The site coordinator Tatiana was absolutely wonderful to work with from the moment we set foot on the site all the way through the wedding day. She responded quickly to our emails, answered all of our questions clearly, and was happy to arrange site visits several times before the wedding. She was also very honest and transparent. When we asked her about the cake cutting fee, Tatiana immediately told us they don't do small, \"hidden\" fees at Castle Green, something we hugely appreciated. The bespoke catering provided by Little Lily Kitchen's was a unqiue proposition compared to catering at other venues and proved to be a real game-changer: everything from the hors d'ourves to the entrees were absolutely delicious. We similarly had great experiences with all of the other approved vendors we worked with from coordinator to photographer and everything in between. It was obvious all of them had formed a tight knit Castle Green family with the goal of making every event there successful. On the day-of we had Bella guiding us through the day. She was similarly a delight to work with even as whirlwind of a day as it was for us and helped to make sure we got everything we needed. Additionally, our guests unanimously expressed to us that the venue was amazing and several told us it was the best wedding they'd been to. Castle Green was the perfect venue or our wedding. If you haven't seen it in person, you have to check it out. If you have, then you know. Aside from the beauty of the venue, the team was also consistently the most responsive vendor that we had (even though our main contact changed at one point in the process, that didn't cause any problems with responsiveness). I instantly fell in love with it the first time I went to visit. You don’t need much decor if you don’t want because it already has all the glam you need. We originally booked the venue back at the end of 2019 to have our wedding in 2020. Obviously that didn’t happen, but during that time they were so accommodating as we postponed our wedding twice. Tatiana, the coordinator, let me go visit the venue multiple times and bring my family and friends who were helping me plan. I used Romanesque catering, which is connected to Castle Green. Because they work together all the time, the wedding went so seamlessly. Everyone commented and how wonderful, fun and efficient our wedding was because of how great the staff was. In addition, it is within walking distance of so many hotels that your guests don't even need to drive if they don't want to. It is also very close to many fun bars so if you don't want the party to end too early, you can easily walk to your after party!Let's also talk about Tatiana and her team... they made planning this wedding so easy. They are organized and competent and clearly have done this many times. Despite doing so so many weddings though, Tatiana still made us feel special and looked after. We didn't feel like we were just another couple. Another nice thing is that they only do one event a day so you know that there isn't another wedding going on right in the other room. The Castle Green also made things super easy by providing us with a preferred vendor list. This is a list of vendors that are tried and true and who have worked at the Castle Green many times. It has a perfect outdoor space for the ceremony and indoor space for up to 200 people. Our wedding had about 100 guests and it was perfect. We especially loved the various common spaces that our guests were able to enjoy during cocktail hour. We kept saying that we wish we were guests so we could enjoy the space more on the day of the wedding. Luckily, a close friend will also be getting married there so we will get our chance to do just that! The staff was wonderful, queer friendly, and helped us feel safe in planning out our big day. They gave advice throughout the planning process and helped us think about things we didn't even realize we had to consider. Castle Green does require you to go through one of their preferred vendors for catering. Alex Nguyen(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-03-2016 My wife and I booked Castle Green for October 1, 2016 for our wedding. We went through several venues in the area, Lankham, Hilton, and other hotels/banquet halls, but they were either too plain or too expensive or restricted us to use THEIR catering company and vendors. We ended up with Castle Green because it just looks so rustic and beautiful, inside and out. It's over 100 years old and is a historical landmark. FYI, book it early as they do fill up fast and they pretty much are booked EVERY Saturday. Plus the venue is nice enough to do our bridal party pictures, ceremony, AND reception in one place. Upstairs are apartments in which tenants live...so they do have some restrictions in loud music, how late you can stay, appointments to visit venue, etc...But good thing about them, you can have the ENTIRE first floor, including the lobby, ballroom, turkish/moorish room, sunroom, patios, foye, and large yard. This is great if you have a lot of people and kids (we had 200 adults and 30 kids). We worked with Dior, the director, and Danielle, one of her assistants. They were so accommodating for us, as strict as the venue can sound. They worked with us continuously to help us move the wedding along. But be warned, they do have things due a month before, a week before, etc...which is a long checklist of things to do or show to the venue. So stay on top of things and do things EARLY. Both Dior and Danielle are super friendly and helpful and extremely approachable. THey let us visit the venue at our convenience when we needed to show vendors, our parents, etc. They even will allow us, after the wedding, to bring my wife's Grandma to come to the venue to see it as she was too sick to make it for our Oct 1 date. Come wedding time, they provided a venue supervisor to make sure everything is being followed, including the timeline, and to make sure we don't break any of the venue's requirements. We were allowed in at 1:30pm and had to be out at 10:30pm (vendors at 11:30pm for cleanup), otherwise an $800 overtime charge per hour would have been charged. I wish they extended their hours but it makes sense cause of tenants living upstairs. Venue was gorgeous after the ceiling swags, the uplighting, and all the decorations. We all had a good time and I'm going to miss this venue. We're thinking of doing our 1 year anniversary here but it's quite a bit of money. The yearly tours may have to suffice for now :) In summary, this is a GREAT place for a wedding or event. It's a hidden gem in old town Pasadena, close to everything, especially the bars and food! They treat you extremely well and walk you through everything. They do get behind in emails sometimes, so I recommend calling if you need something ASAP. Reviewed on 07-10-2016

I can't say enough great things about having our wedding reception at this beautiful historic place. It's very difficult to do anything \"different\" when you plan a wedding these days, and for us having our reception at the Castle Green was one way that we felt made our wedding unique. We had 100 guests with a seated dinner and dance floor inside the ballroom. I felt this size group was just perfect for the indoor space. I think you would be able to maybe do another 10-20 seated guests max if you wanted to still have a dance floor. Our guests from both near and far really enjoyed having the chance to come to the Castle Green for our special event. Cocktail hour made for a great time for guests to explore the grounds while sipping on their cocktail of choice. The venue had ample unique and beautiful locations for us to have our professional photos taken. Just two weeks before our wedding, Castle Green had a change in their Director of Special Events position, and I can't say enough great things about Dior who recently took over this position. Only meeting her the first time one week before my wedding, she made me feel at ease about my event! Everything was perfect! We used a majority of the vendors from their recommended list and that was such a great choice. I couldn't have been happier with every single vendor we chose. They all did things according to plan and were the most professional group to work with. Hats off Castle Green for having a great group of vendors for us to select from. During the wedding planning process, I had no issues making several appointments to simply stop by the Castle to look around and get ideas as well as meet with a number of my vendors to discuss plans. We had guest count of 160 and we had plenty of room for dancing and dinner in the ballroom. We had cocktail hour in the garden and the sun room so people can enjoy the whole place. The place is big but yet cozy, which we loved. The staircase made it perfect for our grand entrance. Big points for allowing us to bring our own alcohol. The location of this place is great. If you have a lot of people coming from out of town there are many hotels near by. Also if your guest want to continue partying after 11pm you are walking distance to many bars and lounges, which is what we did. At the wedding everyone kept on saying how amazing this venue was and for the price it couldn't of been more perfect. \rAs for the downside, there is no parking lot, people had to park in the parking structure which is across the street. Tina Rodriguez(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-08-2012 This was a great location based on the fact that we wanted our ceremony and reception on the same site. The staff is somewhat difficult to work with. First of all, we were talked into a Sunday date and Shannon immediately drew up paperwork to reflect a Sunday wedding. We called her 10 minutes later to request our original Saturday date and were given the run around. We were put off for NINE DAYS before finally receiving a response and securing our wedding date. As time went along I became more and more concerned with our final walk through because I wanted to visually see how everything would be set up so that I could complete and submit the final set up map (required by the venue). We finally scheduled it, based on the venue's schedule only to be prohibited from entering the venue due to filming! It was a total waste of gas and time! At this point we could not reschedule the final walk though without forking over $100/hr to cover my wedding coordinator's time (wedding coordinator- a requirement of the venue). Another disappointment were the random residents that came out to walk their dogs (two different residents) our trek their bikes down the grand staircase during our cocktail hour! They hardly went unnoticed. Our guests were enjoyed their drinks and the pianist stationed in front of the staircase as the residents trotted down. We were also taking pictures outside as the residents walked their dogs. This was a great surprise since I explicitly asked if and to what extent our rental of the property would be respected by the residents. Shannon assured us that they would not be seen as they are instructed to use the back entrance. If you do decide to book at Castle Green be aware that alcohol may not be purchased on site- means open bar if you want alcohol and also while the contract uses the term \"main event\" or \"event\" to start with the ceremony, Shannon led us to believe that the main event was the reception. I show notes in my binder of our conversation marking the reception as the main event, quoted by Shannon. This becomes important when it comes to buying additional time. Shannon request that we purchase extra time when really it was the adjustment of including our ceremony into the main event as worded in the contract. The venue is beautiful but the business side is sloppy and conducted with little to no concern of the bride and groom. Reviewed on 14-11-2012
Meagan Nolan(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-05-2012 This venue is stunning and offers so many possibilities, though this can complicate things. For the price of the venue, that is simply what you get. They do not have an onsight caterer and there is no coordinator to help with your ceremony. Shannon is the site booking coordinator & I very knowledgable regarding venue policies however at times she was extremely difficult to get in touch with and she rarely returns phone calls. \r\rDespite the short comings the venue is absolutely beautiful and having our wedding here was honestly a childhood dream come true! Tony Ferries(groom)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-04-2012 When we went to Castle Green, we absolutely fell in love with the place. They had a lot of rules and deadlines, but we knew it would be worth it. They allow you to use a both the indoor and outdoor portion of their property which was perfect for us. Our only concern was the communication. Often times phone calls and emails were not returned and it did create some stress during our wedding planning. The week before the wedding we could not get in touch with the event coordinator but did speak with her assistant eventually who was greatly helpful. Overall, a great place to have a wedding! Kelly LaFave(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2011 Castle Green is so beautiful. All of guests were amazed at what an awesome place it is. Their staff was really easy to work with and we were never bothered by any of the residents. The pictures that we took there are wonderful. It is a little pricey but I think it was more than worth it. Reviewed on 27-10-2011
Gina Beckers(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-07-2011 I loved having my wedding here. It's gorgeous -- you don't have to do much in terms of decor, because it's already so elegant and pretty. It offers tons of different areas -- the lawn was lovely for our ceremony, and our reception included the ballroom, the beautifully appointed rooms of the first floor and a terrace smoking area. I also agree with the reviewer who posted that Shannon was very helpful and accommodating. Definitely recommended, but book far in advance, because they tend to have a full calendar. Michael Steenbergen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-08-2016 If you are looking for a vintage/historical/awe-stricking venue CASTLE GREEN is your place! You get the entire bottom floor inside and out for your guests to explore. It is great because unlike a ball room you do not feel cramped. The amount of detail and deep colors of Castle Green is amazing! You almost do not even need to decorate! The courtyard the ceremonies are typically held at is so lush and green (hence the name Castle Green, because it is litterally is green all year round). Shannon the Coordinator is super sweet too! Michelle Moniz(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-05-2011 Great venue. Classy, elegant, historical charm. Shannon, the site coordinator is outstanding - timely, professional and eager to please. The staff are ever helpful. My one complaint is that we were told (one year before the wedding) that the venue would be acquiring uplighting. They were unable to do this in tiem for our event (but never let us know so that we could find alternative lighting). Erin Member(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-01-2010 As soon as I walked into Castle Green I knew that I had to have my wedding there. The place is so different from what I had been seeing. There is so much history and beauty there. I was married in January and they has so many holiday decorations up that I had little to bring in of my own. Some people may not like that, but we did. There was a HUGE Christmas tree and wreaths on all the windows...so pretty. The staff was great. The only thing that was tricky was that there is no kitchen available for the caterers. They set up a tent in the back with power but it was still hard for them. But I LOVED the photos and all the different rooms to roam through...would do it here again in a heart beat!
