Contacted Debbie to start planning my wedding and all I can say is I AM AMAZED! Debbie was incredible and answered all of my questions. We live a couple hours away and had to book a weekend stay to view the venue. She got us a discounted rate + waved the resort fee + waved the parking fee for us and got us one of their most recently renovated rooms with an ocean view balcony! They treated us to complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and champagne both nights we were there. Walking the venue was amazing. We haven't even had our wedding there yet, but this is our new home hotel for San Diego whenever we go, no matter the occasion! All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the delivered breakfast was amazing! I wish I could give more stars!EDIT:How do I give this place 100 stars? Can I do that? Cause that's the minimum this place deserves! Just had our wedding there and the staff and accommodations were perfect! My father's room was comped, we got two nights in the honeymoon suite comped, and Debbie being the amazing person she is, managed to get us a couples massage the day before the wedding! Emily R(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-03-2023 My husband and I had an amazing wedding at the Catamaran! The grounds are BEAUTIFUL, even better than they look in the pictures. We got married and had our cocktail hour on the North Beach Lawn and really couldn't have asked for a more beautiful ceremony. Our reception was in the Aviary Ballroom, which is divine. We didn't need that many decorations for the room to look great. Our coordinator, Catamaran staff, and our vendors started early in the day to set up for the ceremony and reception, and they seamlessly moved our guests and decorations to the ballroom after the cocktail hour and packed up at the end of the night so my husband and I could just relax and enjoy ourselves. There were a couple of small mix-ups when checking in with our room and with some people getting the wrong meal at the reception, but they were resolved quickly. Mae responded to all of our emails very quickly and made us feel well taken care of.Our vendors were all from the Catamaran's preferred vendor list, and they were all AMAZING. I will list them below if anyone is interested. One small thing to note: For the price, I wouldn't recommend that guests stay at the hotel. The rooms were clean and mostly functional, but we had trouble getting hot water in the shower, the curtains let sunlight in in the mornings even when they were closed, we could hear the elevator constantly from our suite, and the rooms are only cleaned every 4 days. However, the honeymoon suite that was included in our package was big and worked well for getting ready in. A lot of our guests found other places to stay in walking distance or a short driving distance from the hotel, which seemed nicer and/or more cost effective.Vendors (I would 100% recommend all of our vendors)Coordinator: https://jordanmichelleevents.com/Florist: https://cherryblossomfloraldesigns.com/Photographer: https://www.wilburstudios.com/DJ: DJ Bernard at https://sgmevents.com/Rabbi: https://rabbiian.com/Cake: https://thefrenchgourmet.com/ Reviewed on 08-03-2023
Brianna & Jeremy Kossack(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-08-2022 We had our wedding on the beach and Boardroom early August and it was absolutely perfect. All staff onsite were extremely nice and friendly. We were lucky enough to get the Orchid Suite and it was more than we could have asked for, we even added on an additional night! The Catamaran went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Even after the wedding, we had plenty of special arrangements waiting for us back at the room. We looked at several beach venues in San Diego, and The Catamaran Hotel and Resort had the best inclusive packages and value compared to the rest. All of our guests had the best time and it was absolutely beautiful. All the staff that helped during the ceremony and reception were so helpful and friendly as well . Unfortunately, I don’t remember his name but the bartender we had for the night did a great job and our guests really enjoyed having him. We can't wait to come back and celebrate our first anniversary here. I wanted to give a special thank you to Cathy. From our very first visit to The Catamaran Hotel and Resort until the day of our wedding day, she was terrific to work with. She was very friendly, responsive and communicated well, which was important to us. She always went out of her way to help us or answer endless questions. She went above and beyond for us on many different occasions, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have worked with her. We had some initial concerns with it being a Friday wedding and having a Luau going on directly next door, but she managed to address everything and the ceremony/reception went flawlessly. Brenna was truly incredible to work with and was so accommodating to put together a wedding package that was completely customized to our wants and needs for the most perfect day. We worked primarily with Cathy, who was responsive, friendly, honest and easy to work with. She always promptly replied to our many questions leading up to the big day. The resort offers various settings for your events; our ceremony was on the Beach North lawn at Mission Bay, cocktail hour adjacent to the ceremony and our reception was in the stunning Polynesian-style Kon Tiki Ballroom. This offered a change of scenery between events and eliminated any need for travel between ceremony and reception. The food and drinks were incredible, the waitstaff friendly and attentive and even made sure we did not miss our meal. The ballroom is visually stunning and was acoustically great for music. Our ceremony and reception went perfectly to plan and we could not have been happier. We, along with our guests, loved the Catamaran’s tropical feel. The parrots, restaurants and bar on-site, coy ponds and waterfalls, truly being an experience for all. The location is perfectly nestled between Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. Our out-of-town guests could choose to stay at the resort, or find alternative hotel or Airbnb options nearby. Kathryn Jepsen(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-07-2017 My husband and I stayed here last month and had our wedding reception here. As far as event planning, the staff was excellent, though I did feel I had to double-check a lot of items myself in terms of charges, event details and room block changes - some of that is the fact that I was an event planner myself, but, I did find some errors. However, the catering coordinator Sylvia and the reservations director Andrew Lopez were extremely pleasant and very responsive, and really lovely to work with! Our wedding was beautiful and the staff did an exceptional job making sure guests were happy, food and beverages were excellent although at some point in the night the signature drinks got a little overly sweet as the bartenders must have deviated from the recipe. To be fair, open bar for 120 people can't be easy. Yewbi, the banquet captain was out of this world, she made the wedding reception so perfect for my husband and I. As for guest stay, the hotel staff was very pleasant, the bell hops went above and beyond. Most of the rooms are in need of an update, but the suite where we stayed was gorgeous with an unbeatable view. We waited quite a long time to get into the room, 3 hours to be exact, and found that early check-in requests weren't accommodated for anyone, but, that's not guaranteed. They are also extremely accommodating about late check-out (which explains the issue with early check in, and was appreciated!). We did find some old bacon in the microwave of our suite, which was disappointing given how long we waited for it to be cleaned. Even more disappointing was the fact that I called with this complaint at 9 am the day before my wedding and by 4 pm the room was still not cleaned. That should have been taken care of immediately - YUCK. Overall, a positive experience with some opportunities for improvement! I would absolutely recommend this hotel for San Diego brides...despite any mistakes (bacon included), I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding weekend, and the staff here did an incredible job of making it all happen. We got married on the Beach South Sand and had our reception in the Aviary Ballroom, and we got sooo many compliments about both settings from our guests! The bridal suite had amazing views, and the size of the suite made it so roomy for all my girls to get ready in. The food for the wedding was so delicious; my mother-in-law said multiple guests asked especially about the delicious lobster bisque soup. :) I would highly recommend the Catamaran Resort to anyone trying to decide on their wedding venue! The planning experience, the beautiful grounds, and the food at the wedding are just a few of the reasons why the Catamaran now has a special place in our lives! Reviewed on 19-08-2017
Theresa Highsmith(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-07-2017 I got married at The Catamaran on 7/22/2017, and could not have asked for a more perfect wedding venue! I am originally from the East Coast, and hosting 150 of our out-of-town guests there was an absolute dream. Everyone kept saying how beautiful the scenery was, and how they can't believe we live here! Practically everyone I told I was getting married there raved about the location, and said they had attended some of their favorite weddings there. The bay was a perfect setting for photos, and it really cleared out by 7/8 pm when we were doing sunset photos. The Catamarans in the background were the perfect touch to our beachy theme!Jayna Prest was amazing to work with in the months leading up to the big day, and was very responsive to communications between my coordinator and I. She was able to address all of my requested changes, and was very organized!! Dave Hopper, our banquet captain, was unbelievably nice and attentive the day of. He brought my husband and I a plate of our passed h'orderves because we were taking photos during the cocktail hour, he brought us drinks from the bar during dinner, and he brought me over to check out every station and every detail to make sure it was to my approval. My parents appreciated him checking in with them throughout the night, too! As part of the wedding package, I got 2 nights in the honeymoon suite in the tower. My girlfriends and I got ready there the morning of (after eating brunch at their restaurant Oceana on site), and the view from up top is unbeatable. The Catamaran staff sent us champagne while we were getting ready, and sent my husband and I chocolate covered strawberries as well! Thank you Catamaran for making it the best day ever!! Newell Highsmith(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-09-2018 We had our daughter’s wedding at the Catamaran and it could not have been more beautiful! The setting (on the lawn for the ceremony and cocktail hour) was lovely and then the dinner and dancing in the Aviary Ballroom was perfect. The staff was extremely responsive all through the planning process, especially Jayna Prest (the catering manager), who for example ensured that the special needs of the band were met. But everyone there is friendly and helpful, including the people at the front desk. The staff at the dinner was very professional and friendly, especially Dave Hopper (the banquet captain). He checked with us throughout the evening to make sure that everything was going OK and to see if there was anything else he could do to help us – in short, friendly and always available without being intrusive. The Catamaran is gorgeous, the staff is so friendly and it provides the ultimate San Diego experience for out of town guests. We had the joy of working with Sylvia Ramirez who I can't say enough wonderful things about. From the second we met her we knew we were in good hands. She was so responsive and always willing to meet. Our wedding went off without a hitch thanks in large part to Sylvia! She met with us several times, coordinated with our other vendors, ensured our day of timeline and every want and need were accomplished. Sylvia even helped my mom set up a surprise French Fry Bar for my husband. She was truly wonderful to work with and I'm so happy to have had her. Our banquet manager Dave Hopper (Hop) was also a joy to work with. He ensured my husband and I had our favorite drinks and never ran low and was running back and forth between our parents to ensure they had everything they wanted and that everyone was happy. Everyone raved about how good the food was and what a beautiful place it was to have a wedding. Sara, the event coordinator, was amazing to work with and very patient even though I kept indecisively changing things around. She was able to ensure that the food met dietary restrictions (with even a single Vegan dish for one of our guests). Yewbe, the banquet captain, made sure that my husband and I were well taken care of the entire night as well. Our guests RAVED about the food - macadamia nut crusted chicken especially. When my now husband and I toured this resort with Amber we knew we didn't need to look anywhere else. We wanted a beach wedding and the Catamaran delivered on that and SO much more. From the first tour to after our wedding reception Amber was available for any questions I had and provided many options to customize our big day. We had our wedding on the beach, cocktail hour on the lawn, and reception in the Aviary ballroom; every location was stunning. The food at the reception was amazing as well. We still have guests tell us how delicious the Lobster Bisque en Croute was. The service at the reception was also top notch, our wine glasses were never empty! Olivia Reynolds Labor(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-09-2016 We looked at several locations, all similar in style and setting, before we looked at the Catamaran. I mean we live in San Diego; there are plenty of beautiful wedding venues to choose from. We wanted a beach wedding so we primarily looked at venues that would give us that feel. The Catamaran was the last place we looked at and we didn’t need to look anywhere else. From our first meeting with Sylvia to our wedding day she made us feel comfortable and excited to have our wedding in such a beautiful location. Sylvia was just wonderful, she answered all my 100’s of questions promptly, she worked with our budget to make sure we had everything we wanted and did such an amazing job of helping to facilitate and make sure everything was perfect for our wedding day! We decided to get married on the south lawn in the early evening and have our reception in the Aviary Ballroom—the venue could not be more beautiful! Our service was gorgeous, and the cocktail hour food was AMAZING!!! One thing I really enjoyed, and didn’t expect to, was that because we were married on a public boardwalk we shared our day with people we didn’t even know. When my husband and I walked past the restaurant after our ceremony the whole restaurant clapped and cheered for us. One couple even told us they were married there 20 years ago. I just loved that!! In addition to the venue being beyond beautiful, and the rooms (the bridal suite especially) being amazing, our banquet manager Dave was simply the best. He was there to help us with anything we needed from getting my husband and I a beverage to enjoy while taking pictures, to getting a wheel chair for my grandmother, to making sure our wedding party and I had champagne and appetizers immediately following the ceremony, to the most important part of all…making sure my husband and I actually ate our fabulous wedding meal of Sea Bass and NY Steak. He made sure we ate first which allowed us to greet each table while our guests ate. This was one of my favorite parts of our wedding!I really could just go on and on and on about how beautiful, fun, amazing, and easy our wedding day was because of the wonderful, helpful staff and beautiful accommodations at the Catamaran. Besides all that, my husband even said to me at the end of the night. “I would totally get married here again” From the night time Sea World fireworks, to the gorgeous ballroom, the magnificent food, beautiful room accommodations…everything was just perfect, and we loved every minute of our experience at the Catamaran and we are looking forward to celebrating many more anniversary’s there! We rented the Boardroom, The set up was perfect, we had 105 guests, a bar, gift table, Christmas tree, dessert display, gift table, coffee bar, photographer, projector etc. It sounds like a lot but there was plenty of room and a place for everything. All of our guests also stayed the night and enjoyed the resort the next day. I stayed in a bay view suite for 3 days and if they would let me, I would live there. Lindsey Petenbrink-Wyman (Elkins)(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-03-2016 I have nothing but positive things to say about the Catamaran for our wedding reception. I worked directly with Amber, and she was there for me for every step of the process. When we toured the facility we liked how the day would flow from ceremony on the beach, cocktail hour in the sand, and dinner/dancing in the boardroom. We had an intimate wedding with thirty people, and every guest told us how much the liked the Catamaran. The food was so great, and every dietary request was handled excellently. One of the things I appreciated about Amber was that she took the time to work with all of our vendors and some of their crazy and outlandish requests. She never called or emailed me to stress me out about the things they were asking for. I also really appreciated how quickly she would respond to my emails and phone calls. Amber made my husband and I feel like royalty from the minute we first toured the location to the minute we departed. We booked several rooms at the hotel for both pre and post wedding guests, and every reservation was executed perfectly. The Catamaran was the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. Here is the only word of advice I will give to Catamaran couples, some of your guests may not like the price of the rooms at the Catamaran. Amber gave me the names of several local hotels with lower costs, for guests on a budget. Some of my guests were not thrilled that I had picked a high end resort for the wedding. Ashley Kirkpatrick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-06-2016 On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate my experience of planning and holding my wedding at the Catamaran an 11.Staff: The staff was absolutely amazing. Sylvia was who helped us plan and coordinate the event. She was so helpful in helping us plan this process. There were many times we were faced with, questions and decisions we did not quite know the answers too, and Sylvia was so great in guiding us to the right choice. She was so easy to reach and was very organized with documents making sure I had copies of everything, and that all the contracts were clear. She was also wonderful at responding fast to the pile of emails I bombarded her with during the process.Venue: The venue is absolutely stunning. A lot of the hotels on mission bay can have out of date decor. I did not face this issue at the Catamaran. Both I, and my guest, loved our rooms and experienced fast service when we requested it. Additionally, You are at the tip of the bay and the ocean. From our hotel room you could see both. It was unbelievable how beautiful the sunset was.Food: The food is phenomenal!! They also provided many options for entrees and accommodated my guests who had food allergies, and were vegetarian. They also had healthy kids meal options that were quality, fresh food. Additionally, they hold business meetings 5 days a week so they are great at cooking for large groups and keeping the food consistent out of the kitchen. Cost: after much research I found the Catamaran to be very fairly priced. Sylvia was fantastic at helping with suggestions on areas to cut cost that would not show in the overall big picture. She also recommended fabulous vendors as well.Reality: I know this review seems too good to be true and that no wedding experience could have gone this smoothly. I admit I had my share of issues with vendors and extras but NONE of these came from the Catamaran. They are the only vendor I 100% recommend to everyone. Reviewed on 26-06-2016

Amber made it so simple to make our decision to host our wedding and reception at the Catamaran, from her flexibility and variety of options, to her pleasant personality and immediate responsiveness. No to mention the entire event staff that executed every detail flawlessly, particularly Dave Hopper the Banquet Captain who was by our side to ensure we had everything we wanted / needed each time he saw my husband and I on the move throughout the evening! I cannot put into words just how stunning and flawless our wedding was in addition to our stay; from hosting our ceremony on the beach and reception on the lawn, to the design and feel of the resort and comfort of our room, it was terribly hard to leave. The resort is like a paradise oasis, as if San Diego is not beautiful enough, stepping into to resort is like staying at a secluded tropical destination. The views were amazing, the venue was beautiful, the food was superb and the banquet captain, Dave was fantastic. He really went above and beyond. He treated us like the royal couple or something, it was amazing. Our Catering Manager was Sylvia Rameriz. She was great to work with and was very responsive to my emails and phone calls during the planning. \r\rWe had our ceremony and cocktail hour on the North Lawn and the reception in the Aviary Ballroom. My biggest complaint about having my wedding at the Catamaran was that it seemed the AC was broken in the Aviary Ballroom. After dinner, Dave had assured me they were cranking up the AC, but many of my guests ended up spending the majority of the dancing time outside on the patio. They were also unable to prop open the doors because of the 9 PM noise ordinance, so I felt like it really segregated the party. Thankfully the Aviary ballroom faces the bay, which looks absolutely stunning even at night. Sylvia had also suggested that I put some candles out there for some accent decor and I'm thankful that I did with everyone outside. \r\rAlso, the honeymoon suite offered in the package was nothing special. It was big and very clean, but nothing \"honeymoon\" about it. The room was also not available until the afternoon on the day of, so we weren't able to use it as a bridal staging area. There is no specific bridal staging area on the premises either. The only suggestion by the venue was to use one of your guests' rooms. My sister (MOH) ended up upgrading her room to a suite so that we'd have enough space for the hair stylists and makeup artists to work on my bridal party and for us to get dressed. \r\rLastly, we decided to do our next day breakfast at the Oceana Coastal since it was seat yourself and conveniently located right on the premises. The service here was TERRIBLE. For one table of our guests, their food literally never came. Save yourself the embarrassment and have your next day breakfast elsewhere. \r\rA word of caution to spring break (April) brides... the public beach is VERY busy on the weekend and everyone and their mom will want to watch your event. Most people were very respectful and quiet during the ceremony, aside from a few playful kids, but there were a few knuckleheads that rode their bikes right through my procession during our announcement to our cocktail hour. On the upside of a busy location, at the end of the ceremony we received a lot of applause which was kind of awesome. I just felt bad for our officiant, my husband's aunt, who was only expecting to publicly speak in front of 90 people. Thankfully she did great anyway! Reviewed on 18-01-2016

The staff there was so helpful with recommending amazing vendors. Our first wedding coordinated left the Catamaran mid-way through the planning process, but Sylvia stepped right in without missing a beat. One of my favorite parts about having our reception here was how much was included with the price of the wedding package. Other places I looked at had fees for just about everything, but at The Catamaran, it really is all included. Set-up, take-down. food for both cocktail hour and dinner (delicious food, might I add), linens, a cake, an amazing honeymoon suite for the night of the wedding... I could go on and on. For someone planning from out of state, this was a huge blessing! Not to mention, it's probably the best deal in the area. All of the ballrooms are stunning. We had a pretty small reception so ours was in the Bay View Boardroom. It had an amazing view of the bay and can be decorated more if you want but we just left it as is because it was pretty enough that way! Finally, the grounds. This truly is a resort and when you walk through the grounds it feels like Hawai'i! The beach is nice and well-kept and you can rent fun little things right at the bayside. The rooms are a little old and the mattresses aren't super comfortable and the rooms with two beds are actually fulls and not queens. Other than that, the only negative thing I have to say is that it is on the bay and not the ocean so there aren't waves and the sun doesn't set on the water. But truly, this is a top-notch venue with stellar service! Reviewed on 27-10-2015

We had a ton of guests from out of town, and it was close to the airport, right by the beach, and had a ton of activities for everyone. All of our guests commented how perfect the resort was, and how easy it was to get to tourist attractions around San Diego. We had looked at a TON of venues, and the minute we came to the Catamaran and met Amber, we knew it was perfect. Amber was so real, like talking to a friend (unlike many of the other venue reps who were so fake). She was so organized and even offered really useful advice on things we would never have thought of. She was constantly in contact, and we were so confident everything would go smoothly on the day (which is did). She found us ways to save money and was very good at going over the contract breaking down costs and payment dates, which was appreciated. The wedding was set up beautifully, and went so smoothly. All of our guests commented how friendly and fun the Catamaran staff were. Yewbe, the catering manager may be the sweetest person I have ever met. Right before the ceremony, I came up to the ballroom to see everything, and she immediately asked if I was ok or needed anything (a chair, water, tequila - haha). She recognized a stressful moment and really went above and beyond her job to make sure the bride was comfortable and calm. Seriously the entire day was flawless thanks to Amber and her staff! The venue is just beautiful. Getting married right on the water, cocktail hour outside on the lawn, the large ballroom with a beautiful balcony overlooking the water. Free fireworks across the bay! All of this made for extremely beautiful photos. And the honeymoon suite! Has to be the best view in San Diego! You could see both the bay and the ocean...just gorgeous. If you are considering getting married in San Diego - please consider the Catamaran, you won't be disappointed! Reviewed on 26-08-2015

A gorgeous beach-front resort that hosted my wedding-- What a perfect venue! Thank you Catamaran!\r \rMy husband and I had our PERFECT wedding day at the Catamaran Resort, July 2015 with 100+ guests, and it was BEAUTIFUL! My guests had the time of their life, with tons to do all weekend long, pool, beach, boat rides, shopping, spa treatment, activities for the kids, great restaurants, walk to down town Pacific Beach, etc...\r \rThis is by far, the best place to have your wedding in San Diego. Everything is here for you-- you NEVER have to leave the resort. Everything was EXCELLENT, food, rooms, landscape, people, and more! I need to talk about how OUTSTANDING the service was as well... We had a couple of people at the Catamaran who really standout, Sharon Nelson & Dave Hopper.\r \rSharon was a GREAT event coordinator. She helped with so many details for our special day, from organizing our rehearsal Friday night, to being available Saturday for our sand ceremony, grass-side cocktail hour, and finally helping us kick-off the perfect reception upstairs in the Aviary Ballroom. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS, and everything looked very elegant. Thank you Sharon!\r \rDave Hopper was our Banquette Captain. He provided the BEST SERVICE to us. He really went above and beyond. Anything we needed, he was right there to get it for us. If I (the thirsty Bride) needed a cocktail, he brought it! Thanks Dave and Sharon for ALL your WONDERFUL work! I hope I get invited to a wedding at the Catamaran, so I can enjoy it like my guests. It was absolutely to best decision for us!\r\rCheers! Ashley McDonald(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-04-2015 Let me start out by saying our wedding day went perfectly. Not many couples can say that about their wedding day. There is usually something that is missed, goes overlooked, not ready in time, etc. From beginning to end, the Catamaran staff was awesome. They are very accommodating and make sure they really understand your vision and what you're looking for. The catering manager was there for the rehearsal and day of and made sure everything went smoothly. She even cried when I walked down the aisle (could definitely tell she loves her job). The set up for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception was beautiful and professionally done. They even threw in candles and table number holders to avoid any spaces from looking empty and bc they didn't want our table number boards to fall over. So thoughtful! The food was delicious and don't skimp on the hors d'oeuvres! Our head catering person was fabulous and made sure we were well fed and had drinks during pictures and during the reception as well. The wait staff and bartender were great and the hotel itself is beautiful. Our photographer mentioned it is her favorite place to do weddings because of the many photo opps this resort has, it's gorgeous! The hotel suite for the bride and groom was amazing as well, it's huge! All of us girls got ready in there the morning of and it fit 12 of us in the living room very comfortably. 270 degree views of the ocean and bay. Definitely recommend for your special day. 3 months later and I'm still bragging about it. Sometimes it would take a few days to hear back about changes in our contract we made and we'd have to call; however, it was wedding season, they do a ton of weddings, and are probably extremely busy. Catamaran is the way to go! I was shocked on how they were on top of every detail. Reviewed on 01-08-2015
Nikki Rands(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-07-2015 The Catamaran did a wonderful job on our wedding, we had the rehearsal/dinner at the catamaran and it was amazing they had a luau and buffet with great food. The ceremony was beautiful and the decor really made our Hawaiian theme come to life. The food for the reception was so good. Everyone kept raving about the food. We chose the filet mignon and halibut and both were equally amazing. The planning process was easy as Sylvia made sure everything was handled, very organized and the wedding suite we stayed in was so beautiful perfect to get ready in due to the lighting. The night of the wedding we returned to our suite Sylvia had left us a very sweet note with champagne on ice and chocolate covered strawberries to congratulate us! Breanna Porter(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-06-2015 I had my wedding here in June 2015 and everything about my experience was amazing! I am so glad I picked the Catamaran and everything about my wedding was spectacular. My coordinator, Amber, did a great job making my vision a reality and was great working with all my vendors. I live in Orange County so I was nervous about getting married in San Diego, two hours away. Amber made all the coordination easy and was great responding to emails and answering all my questions. Dave was my banquet manager for the night and was AMAZING! The whole night he was constantly asking my parents, my husband, and I what we needed. All we had to do was ask and we received. The hotel was so organized and the view from the bridal suite was spectacular. The day after my wedding we had a brunch on the grass which was just as well coordinated as the wedding. Everyone at my wedding kept complimenting on how kind the whole Catamaran staff was and how nice especially Amber and Dave were. Valerie Sedig(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-06-2015 Gorgeous and fun venue with very friendly staff! \r\rOur June Wedding was perfect! My husband and I selected the Catamaran for our June wedding because it met the most important criteria on our list: nature, trees, beach, outdoor ceremony, noise allowed past 10 pm, and inclusive packages. The location is so lush and made a beautiful for setting for our guests, for the day of getting ready there and for our ceremony. (The pictures are so beautiful, partly due to the gorgeous backdrop of the Catamaran grounds and Mission Bay). Everyone—especially our niece/flower girl—enjoyed the parrots and the three-day-old ducks wandering around. Beyond the general excitement about the wedding, there was an extra layer of happiness because of the whimsical setting we were in.\r\rSylvia Ramirez was our Catering Sales Manager and she was such a delight to work with. She got our contract about a month and a half before our wedding when our previous contact left, but we never would have known that she stepped in late. She knew all the details, was organized, friendly, responded quickly and thoroughly to my many questions and handled my last minute changes with patience and grace. My husband felt very comfortable with Sylvia handling our contract and really appreciated how straightforward and honest she was.\r\rDave was the Catering Captain during the reception and he was fantastic: super friendly and very attentive. He took such good care of us, our bridal party, and our parents. The rest of the servers and bartenders were also great. We’ve only heard positive things from our guests about how friendly they were. The food was amazing. My husband and I were so impressed by the menu during our tasting. We couldn’t believe how flavorful and tender the chicken was and were glad the items in our budget were delicious. The night of the wedding, the food didn’t disappoint. We’ve received several compliments about the food (especially the to-die-for au gratin potatoes), which isn’t typical for a hotel-catered wedding.\r\rI have just a couple of thought for anyone considering this venue: Firstly, Due to our inexperience and excitement during wedding planning, we based our contract on the maximum number of guests. That number turned out to be a lot higher than RSVPs. Thankfully, we didn’t overspend too much because Sylvia worked really hard to adjust our contract as much as possible. However, had I’d known more, I would have started with a smaller contract. \r\rSecondly, I loved the outdoor venue but it was a long walk to any restroom. After frolicking around taking pictures, my bridal party and I really wanted to freshen up before the ceremony. I wish we’d had a little hand mirror to smooth our hair and reapply lipstick. This was not a huge deal, but is something to think about if you’re having your ceremony on the beach.\r\rOverall, we had a beautiful wedding and the Catamaran was just the right atmosphere we wanted. The staff understands how important and special weddings are and have such a positive, happy energy, that it really adds to the event.\r Reviewed on 24-06-2015

Not only was the weather and the view/scenery absolutely amazing, but the staff was really helpful as well. Sylvia Rameriz helped us from the very beginning, every step of the way! She thought of every little detail, and made sure everything was all in order. She was very organized, detailed, and thorough which made things easier for me as I am sure I would have forgotten many details. I basically communicated with her on a weekly basis since the day we booked The Catamaran and she was always quick to respond and very helpful. The Catamaran also put my husband and I in a suite the night of the wedding, and it overlooked the entire bay, downtown, and ocean. It was absolutely breath-taking! The director of catering, Amber Kelly, is amazing and helped out so much, making sure that everything went smoothly. The service was incredible as well, they really take care of you through your special day. The ambiance there is awesome. Right when you walk in the lobby has an amazing waterfall and when you walk further they have so many tropical trees and plants and not to far is the beach. Perfect spot for a tropical, Hawaiian themed wedding. The room where we had the reception was well spaced for venue of 50-60 guests. Jeannie Lee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-09-2014 I've been meaning to write this review for months but I really wanted to sit down and give a proper review - not only for the Catamaran Resort but for our Catering Sales Manager, Sylvia Ramirez.\r\rFirst of all, I want to point out that my husband and I are quite frugal. We had originally planned on renting a small venue and doing everything ourselves (renting the furniture, hiring the catering, etc.).\r\rWe had walked past weddings at the Catamaran and always assumed that it would be waaay out of our budget. On a whim, I decided to request a quote...just for the heck of it.\r\rSylvia was kind enough to meet with us to go over the options. She didn't laugh at us when she heard our budget. In fact, she was able to come up with a dream wedding package that worked for us.\r\rIn the end, we paid a little more than what we would have if we were to have done everything ourselves. I can't tell you how much that difference made. Pretty much not having to lift a finger. To be able to get married in a fairy tale setting.\r\rI am SO thankful that we had the opportunity to work with Sylvia. She really went above and beyond. We didn't hire a wedding coordinator so she filled that role, too! We really had no idea what we were doing but everything went smoothly thanks to Sylvia.\r\rI was so distracted with the wedding. Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw Sylvia still hustling and bustling as we were wrapping up cocktails. She truly made me feel like it was our BIG day.\r\rI highly recommend that you check out the Catamaran for your wedding venue. Ask for Sylvia! Reviewed on 24-11-2014

I seriously cannot say enough good things about Amber Kelly, the catering coordinator there. We had a very long engagement (16 months from the time we booked the venue to the wedding date) and that means she got A LOT of emails from me during that time period. She was always super fast at responding and was really easy to work with and so nice. We were really upset when 5 weeks out from our wedding we were told that there was going to be construction at our ceremony and cocktail hour site to update their restaurant. The news really blind sided us as we picked the Catamaran for its aesthetics both outside and inside. Amber completely understood our concerns. She was able to reassure us and in the end delivered a beautiful ceremony and cocktail hour space despite the construction that you didn’t even notice was there. (Except for our family who was staying there all week and had to hear the jack hammers and drilling on the week days.) She also helped to set up the ballroom with our homemade centerpieces, kept all my supplies overflowing in her office for a week, and snuck down the stairs behind me without anyone seeing to fix my train and veil as I came down the aisle. I agree with the previous recommendation -- Sylvia Ramirez is AMAZING! We also planned our wedding from out-of-state (Kansas City, MO), but Sylvia made everything very low stress and our day was absolutely perfect! Sylvia was extremely responsive, especially the day before when I started freaking out about little details (and last minute cancellations by guests due to the Chicago radio tower incident). \r\rEverything was on time, the food was delicious, and the service was absolutely fantastic! Multiple guests commented about the friendliness of the staff. The waiter serving our sweetheart table was a complete sweetheart himself and I even got him to dance with me! Another waitress let me know that everyone was commenting about how sweet and thoughtful our personalized notes were (this really meant a lot to me). The North Lawn is beautiful and The Kon Tiki Ballroom is a beautiful room, with a beautiful ceiling, a balcony, and plenty of space (we did not want our guests to feel trapped). Annie Borst(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-09-2014 We would highly recommend having your wedding ceremony and reception at the Catamaran Resort. Sylvia Ramirez was our wedding coordinator and she was AMAZING. We had to plan our wedding out of state due to being in the military--as you may know, this can be very stressful. But, we made a very specific wedding timeline and Sylvia made sure everything was executed exactly as intended. It's crazy to be able to say honestly that our wedding day went PERFECTLY...everything was on time, the ceremony location was perfect (on the Mission Bay side near the beach), the cocktail hour was really nice, the food was incredible, and the reception hall (Kon Tiki Ballroom) was beautifully decorated---plenty of space, especially if you have a larger wedding with many guests. Our big day was perfect and we had the best time ever. \r\rThe hotel itself is beautiful. It's kind of tucked away on Mission Blvd, but once you walk inside you are blown away with how vast the area is. The grounds are covered with plants, trees and little ponds. They have fish, turtles, and even tropical birds that live within the hotel grounds too! Really cool. We also stayed in one of the suites in the tower...it was very nice! It had a mini kitchen, living room, separate bedroom, and two balconies overlooking the beach and Mission Bay! Look at the photos...the view alone made the room perfect. \r\rThe restaurant in the hotel was called The Atoll. The food and drinks were very good, maybe a little pricey, but you kind of expect that. Unfortunately, we did have some issues with planning our rehearsal dinner here. Due to miscommunication with one of the managers, Ashley Brown, our rehearsal dinner was moved up 2 hours later than it was supposed to be and we were not notified of the change until 2 days before the rehearsal. (We had booked our reservation a month prior to this.) That was disappointing, however the director of the restaurant, Harry Siebert, did personally call us and apologize for the sudden change after we expressed our disappointment. He did offer our rehearsal party a free champagne toast and appetizers while we waited for our tables. We did appreciate this gesture. The restaurant created a smaller menu for our rehearsal dinner per my request and they even personalized it with our names and wedding date. They turned out great. Around 7:15pm, we were seated in our reserved private area. The tables in the private porch did not move and only seated 4 people each. They were spaced out pretty far from each other as well, so we were unable to have an intimate dinner as we had originally planned with our 20 guests. That was a little disappointing too. They offered to seat us in the main restaurant at one large table, but we declined. We wanted the privacy. The first course took about 1 hour to be served (salads), so that was a littler frustrating as well since our dinner was already delayed 2 hours. BUT, the food was excellent. The wait staff were very attentive and kind, and all in all, it was a great experience. Our guests had a nice time and that's all that really mattered.\r\rThough we had a slightly unfortunate experience regarding our rehearsal dinner, the wedding ceremony and reception wer Reviewed on 27-09-2014

I'm sure she thought we were completely mad and going to waste her time haha.\rBut we did return, 5 days before the big day and stayed at the Catamaran the entire 8 days of being in San Diego.\rKristen and her team, we fantastic. They were patient and understanding of our situation of being so far away and was available to answer any questions and help in any way she could.\rOn the day, everything was set up as requested, the service was amazing and the food to die for.\rWe ordered our linens through the resort and the vendor they use, I wouldn't say I was totally happy with them. Try to say on the day that the chair sashes we ordered weren't available, Kristen sorted that out though, but the napkins used were satin when we asked for Polyester and the table cloths on the belly bars were too short even thought I expressed my concerns for this when ordering.\rBeing a July wedding it was hot. However the Boardroom and Foyer area was a/c'd but for some reason it was absolutely boiling in the boardroom. I asked for the a/c to be turned up or to open the windows, it didn't make a difference and the reception ended up being mostly on the balcony where people could cool down which was a shame coz then no one was dancing and was probably really offensive for the poor dj.\rThere for a shift change over half way through the night and I wasn't aware this would happen until it did. This made it really confusing at the end of the night when deconstructing the room and storing our items until they were brought up to the room.\rOnly tips I would give for future weddings would be to discuss the after party procedure, ensure the room is totally cooled down well before the event is to start, and do not allow them to put your wishing well outside in the foyer area.\rApart from that the night was amazing and we are so grateful to Kristen and her team for helping us create one of the most amazing moments of our lives\r Reviewed on 10-08-2014

Nicole Gricius(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-09-2013 Not only is Catamaran beautiful, but its very romantic and right on the water. The location can't be beat! When first starting to look at venues, we saw some beautiful places, but then I met Amber Kelly. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. She was professional, knowledgeable, flexible and completely understood my vision. She made me feel at ease right from the beginning all the way to the wedding day. I LOVE her. The Catamaran is a beautiful resort and with such a prime location it sells itself. However, Amber was the reason I chose to have my wedding there.\rAnd I was not disappointed. She handled every aspect of the wedding like a true pro. She helped me figure out details and keep me sane when wedding stresses started to factor in. We had a destination wedding so she recommended vendors who were also wonderful. \rTHe only minor issue we had was with the front desk not having rooms ready in time for guests to check in.\rEverything about the wedding weekend was wonderful! Food was great too and the catering staff was Excellent! Highly recommend this venue and Amber! Reviewed on 19-09-2013
Eileen Fields(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-06-2013 The one thing that my guests raved about this venue was the food! I had a buffet luncheon for my wedding reception in June. There were several salads, fruits, meats and sides to choose from. The coordinator was so accommodating the whole 6 months of planning. She was extremely helpful with details and helping me make sure I was comfortable with pricing and decorations. I chose a package that included the ceremony site and reception. The hotel itself is a tropical theme and the rooms seem a little dated. But it is on the bay and provides a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Reviewed on 09-07-2013
