Leanne Carver(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-09-2021 My husband and I got married at Cedar Lake Cellars in September 2021. Overall, the day was magical, but there were some glaring shortcomings from the venue. If youâre thinking of booking this venue, please be aware. 1. Conflicting music and party. At the exact same time as our outdoor wedding, the venue had 2 outdoor bands booked over at their winery. They didnât disclose this to us but instead we found out on the day of when we arrived. You could hear the conflicting music over at our space and the venue acted like they had no idea this would be a problem. They acted as if it were such a surprise when we were upset, as if theyâve never encountered this before. There was no chance to remedy the situation because we didnât find out until 3 hours before the wedding. 2. Parking. There was no parking reserved for us or our guests and with the massive crowd over at the winery, there wasnât even a space for me, the bride, or the groom in the parking lot. Our guests had to park in the grass far away and walk over to the venue. This again was not what we were told when we were sold this venue. We were assured guests would have ample parking in the main lot. 3. Incorrect details. The groomâs name was wrong on signage (John instead of Josh). Tables werenât set up on the barn roof like weâd discussed. The number of easels requested not provided. Champagne glasses that were supposed to have been filled with sprite for my step kids were empty. 4. Poor preparation by the venue. When we arrived at 1:00, just 3 hours before the ceremony, we were shocked to see so many things still in disarray. The arbor for the ceremony wasnât set up and still wasnât set up by the time the florist arrived. The wedding staff was nowhere to be found. Our day of coordinator wasnât there yet. Iâm not sure what her role was but she didnât do a whole lot. There was so little communication between us and the venue during the night in general. They also changed the time for one of our vendors to arrive without telling us. 5. The groom and groomsmen were just left without any soda/water even though we paid for the catering. My now husband had no idea how to get some water and there wasnât anyone around for him to ask. No one from the venue ever came to check on them or give them any instructions for getting ready for the ceremony. 6. Despite that fact that we paid for catering in our bridal suite and for the groom and an arm and a leg for the wedding food, we were offered almost no leftovers. They gave us 2 takeaway boxes. Iâm a vegetarian and my takeaway box wasnât even a vegetarian meal. In fact, the vegetarian guests at my wedding, including my sister in my bridal party said they had no idea where the vegetarian food was. 7. The pork wasnât like what we tasted. I heard from several guests after the fact that the pork that was served was not pulled pork like what we ordered. It was like boiled pork that was cut in cubes. 8. I was served red sparkling juice. I was newly pregnant at our wedding and asked for sparkling juice instead of champagne. The venue put red sparkling juice in my glass which gave away the fact that I was pregnant to the guests. We hadnât told people yet about the pregnancy which made it really awkward. 9. No security. Non-wedding guests wandered around our space and even asked us if they could have some of our sâmores. We felt very uncomfortable having our wedding gifts out in the open knowing this. Reviewed on 03-01-2022
Christine Ghirardi(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-10-2019 DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE!!!! My husband and I chose Cedar Lake cellars for our wedding. If I could go back I would NOT have chosen this place. We paid over $35k to have our reception at the Barrel Room. Cedar Lake Cellars decided to have a concert the same night as our wedding!!! The music from the concert was so loud that we couldn't even hear my father's speech. We were supposed to have reserved parking for our guests and my 95 year old grandmother had to walk over a quarter of a mile to get to our venue. We also had people from the concert crashing our wedding all night. This place is awful and the owners did not even offer us a credit or apologize for ruining what was supposed to be the best day of my life. Stay clear of this horrible place!!! Reviewed on 06-10-2021

Both Stephanie and Hannah were so easy to work with and very responsive every time I had a question. Someone would always get back to me with 24 hours. Stephanie did a great job at easing my mind when I worried about the weather. They go above and beyond, including the chef that came out to ask us how the food was, which was amazing by the way!!They were very willing to accommodate any special requests including one for a special beer that they had to bring in specifically for our wedding. The venue is gorgeous! You have access to the property all day. We started in the bridal suite getting ready with photos on property, followed by ceremony and then reception. There are endless opportunities for photos around the beautiful property - a waterfall, lakes, barn, meadow, bridge .. the list goes on. We were about 8 months in when Covid hit, and then things got weird. Stephanie kept us on course and as things evolved, worked with our specific requests to keep our guests safe and comfortable. From the 40+ foot ceilings, natural lighting, indoor/outdoor space, the stage, and of course the large spacious bar.. it was all incredible. We had to reschedule our wedding date twice due to COVID and each time the team at Cedar Lake Cellars was more than accommodating. Rebecca Sohn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-10-2019 My wedding was at the big red barn, which is charming and rustic. I chose this venue based on how unbelievably gorgeous it is. I always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, and this is the most perfect place to do it. The pond, the trees, the waterfall....I love nature and am a little bit hippie at heart, so I was so pumped. Unfortunately, my gamble on an outdoor wedding at the end of October didn't pay off, and it rained (poured) the entire time. HOWEVER, my day of coordinator (Dracke) was perfection. He made sure everything was as perfect as it could be. It's clear that Cedar Lake Cellars has been in the wedding business for a long time and they know how to plan for when things don't go right. Once my wedding started, I didn't care it was raining-I was just so happy to be there. Drake made the place look amazing and took care of all the things I didn't even know were going wrong (issues caused by the weather). From my end of it, I had the most fun, perfect day! I loved our bartender-he did an amazing job and treated everyone well. The food was yummy (although I didn't get to eat a lot of it!). I felt special and taken care of the entire time. Thank you Cedar Lake Cellars :) The only negative thing I have to say about the venue is the communication is a bit slow. You will have to wait days for emails. Sometimes you have to call more than once. There was an issue with our food tasting--communication between staff was not great and we had to wait a while. However, know that the staff really will take care of you especially the week and day of and that they do a lot of weddings. If you are someone who wants constant attention leading up to the wedding, you may become frustrated. But these people have a lot of experience and know how to make things look and flow good, so if you don't mind giving up some control and just going with the flow you won't be disappointed! Megan Peterson(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-11-2019 The venue is breathtaking but the communication is almost non existent with the wedding coordinators. For the price point I don't feel you get your moneys worth. We only had the venue for 5 hours (ceremony and reception) and sorta felt rushed at the reception. At the end of the night they kinda kicked us out and wouldn't allow some of our wedding party back inside who locked their keys in their car and had to wait in the cold at 11:00 pm for AAA to get there. Wine is great though! Reviewed on 28-11-2019
Emily R(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-07-2019 All the CL staff I worked with were very accommodating and professional leading up to the wedding. They were even able to schedule a private tasting for us because we weren't happy with the vegetable options offered at the first bridal tasting. All my questions were answered quickly. On the day of the wedding all the staff members were all very helpful; running to find people if they were MIA and not complaining about taking us around on golf carts. We had our ceremony in the meadow and our reception in the Big Red Barn and everything went as smoothly as you can expect a wedding to go! Of course my wedding day will always have a special place in my heart, and so will Cedar Lakes. Reviewed on 22-08-2019

We had both our ceremony and reception at Cedar Lake. The venue is beautiful. There are photo opportunities everywhere. Leading up to the wedding, there is a lack of communication. I had emails unanswered or I received a reply weeks later. I was disappointed in the food. You do not get to try everything at the tasting, especially the main courses. We had the option to try the bbq pork, vegan lasagna, and one other which made it hard to choose the buffet. When I actually got to eat at the wedding day, it was lacking. The one food we would recommend is the Chicken Parmesan. Some other things to note if you are looking to book:They provide a welcome sign that you can be personalized to your liking which is a plus. They also have a sign showing guests where to put gifts and table number holders. Also they had many wine barrels to decorate too. Reviewed on 22-04-2019
Lauren Marshall(maid of honor)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2018 I was the maid of honor in a wedding this past Saturday at cedar lakes... I must say that this use to be one of my favorite places to go for a nice quite time with friends or family, but that has since changed. The ceremony went off without any issues and was beautiful with acknowledgement to the brideâs mother as well as the events specialist they brought into the venue to decorate.... the reception was a different story.... the dinner was a a sit down and one that was less then pleasurable.... my steak was rare (which I love my steak medium rare) and when I asked the server if they could cook it a little longer she told me it was fine and to eat it. The whole head tables steak was cold and rare as was multiple other tables.... the asparagus looked like they were frozen out of a bag. Every staff member that I encountered was rude and cold. When I went to the bar to get a glass of wine and each time was met with eye rolls and obvious annoyance. One of the times I asked for a glass of wine me and a groomsman were joking around with each other, which resulted in the bartender threatening to cut me off (still not sure why). When it came time for speeches nobody could hear the speeches due to the extremely loud music that was going on outside of the area we were in... and lastly while on Instagram to view the pictures from the wedding and to show my mom how beautiful everything was I came across a picture thatâs tagged to Cedar Lake from an employee of the bride and grooms reception area with a tag of marriage is overrated...It is baffling to me that for such a beautiful place and what use to be one of my favorite places to go had such poor service and blatant disrespect towards guest. I have included screenshots of the Instagram message along with this young ladies response to me. Reviewed on 22-10-2018
Erin Kidd(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-09-2018 We held our wedding in the Barrel Room and had an overall good experience, but there are some things we would want to warn future couples about. Let me start with the positives! This venue is absolutely beautiful, we got so many compliments from our guests about how pretty everything looked. They have a good mix of indoor and outdoor spaces if you like to have separation of spaces for your wedding. They usually hold two weddings per weekend in 2 different venues onsite (theyâre about a football field apart) and this was never a problem, in fact our guests said they didnât even realize there was another wedding going on. Their food and wine selection is impressive and delicious. Our day of coordinator, Stephanie, was excellent and helped the wedding day go very smoothly. The venue is large and overall perfect for an upscale/classier rustic wedding. Now on to the negatives...this venue is an operational winery and at times throughout our planning it felt as though they were putting their winery guests and profit margin above our needs and wants. We tried to book one of their ceremony locations that was available and they told us it was already reserved for a âseparate eventâ...3 months before the wedding date they told us that in addition to the open winery and 2 weddings on our date they were also hosting an Oktoberfest (which is why the lakeside venue was no longer available). With some discussion they caved and allowed us to use the lakeside venue and âgraciouslyâ changed their Oktoberfest band start times so that the band would not be playing during our wedding ceremony. This is by no means a cheap or bargain wedding venue, so we expected to take precedent over the winery guests since our wedding was guaranteed income. Because they host 2 weddings per weekend and itâs a prominent wedding venue they try hard to streamline things on their end, but it ends up making the wedding customer feel like just another number. Theyâre very inflexible. In fact had it not been for my husband and maid of honor, they wouldnât have accommodated any of our requests. It was incredibly frustrating to pay so much money and get push back with every request we made. For example, they typically allow you to begin decorating the reception area at 2:30 PM for a 5 PM wedding and when we explained that we needed more time to set up they replied that they could only guarantee us 2 PM even though we had arranged everything for a 4:30 wedding. Though you rent the venue space, winery guests are allowed into the reception venue until 2:30. As I said before, it always felt like their profits were being put above our requests. Overall it was a good experience and we may have just had a more difficult time than other weddings, but we wanted our experience to be known. Our wedding coordinator Stephanie worked very hard to help us. It felt like the pushback was always coming from upper management and never from the wedding coordinator. Reviewed on 07-10-2018

Katie Haskins(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-06-2018 I was the bride at this reception venue. We had 300 guest and paid for an open bar. We were told we would have two bars for the wedding. We had one bar with one bartender at it at one point in time. Lines got long and it was silly for the cedar lake cellars not to have made arrangements to be prepared for this day. They were unprepared for the crowd that we paid for in advance. One of the event planners came screaming at me the bride she was closing the bar down at 9pm. That people were out of control too drunk and will get a dwi. Not to mention we had a bus taking everyone one home following reception time. There was absolutely no one too drunk or out of line. My brother did decide to take his shirt off with just his vest on because it was June 30th and a hundred degrees. But that was absolutely it! She was screaming at yelling at me THE bride. I got my brother to put his shirt on no big deal. That lady was in a yelling match with my entire family at my wedding. Not only was the venue unprofessional but disrespectful. While the fireworks started going off the worker decided it would be a good time to yell at the bride? This venue ruined everything that a special day was suppose to be. Maybe discuss issues more respectfully and professionally without involving or screaming at the bride. Have your venue prepared for 300 people wedding ahead of time! It is a gorgeous venue and the food was good. But for the price you pay a bride and their family should not be disrespected like that. No bride should cry on their wedding day from a wedding coordinator screaming at her for issues that she shouldnât even be confronted about. Reviewed on 03-07-2018
Cynthia Smith(wedding party)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-07-2019 Attended a wedding that was held in the Barrel Room. After attending and talking to other guests who shared the same viewpoint, it left much to be desired. When I was told our bride and groom spent $20,000 for the Barrel Room and extras, I was shocked. It was not worth that at all. The food left much to be desired, it was tasteless but at least hot. The staff serving drinks were rude at the bar, there was no air conditioning in the entire barrel room which you would think they would offer for spending $10,000 just to rent the space. The wedding planners were off schedule and couldn't give anyone specific details. The security was a joke. One of the guests took the Bud Lite he got from the open bar at the wedding and took it to his car to get his wedding present. When he re-entered the winery, the security guard argued with him saying they never sell Bud Lite products (like come on this is the main type of beer at the bar, you don't even know your own winery's products?!) There was no toilet paper in the restrooms. It was little things like that that made it not a venue I would ever suggest to anyone. Reviewed on 29-05-2018

My coordinator, Angie, was super helpful, responsive, and made the day go flawlessly. The food was super yummy! (We had the fried chicken, eye of round, truffle Mac and cheese). Also at the end of the night, our shuttle got delayed, and the staff allowed us to stay inside and wait past the scheduled time, so we weren't cold and wet. Andria Nickel(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-10-2017 This venue is just gorgeous!! We got married in the meadow under the tree with a unique long branch that made for a gorgeous backdrop and lots or privacy. I recommend this location over the lake area if it's wine season, as the public will be in the background of your pictures by the lake. And the reception was in the new barrel room by the lake, also crazy beautiful and very rustic. We were fortunate enough to have 65-70 degree weather in October, and all my guests said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. But watch out! When you have weather this nice, people will tend to want to hang out outside by the lake. Make sure to get a good DJ to keep them dancing if you're into that. The venue is large - but we made it not look so barren with only 150 guests. Kristine and Angie are both amazing, very friendly and responsive. They changed the color of the lights in the venue to all white from colors for me, and worked through several table arrangements for me, as well as a private tasting as I was not able to make the main tasting for the season. They even arranged gluten free and non-dairy food - which all ended up pretty good! If you use this venue, make sure to use Carla at Troy Flower Shop for your flowers, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! I would not change my wedding day for anything. It was perfect! The only reason I would rate this 4 instead of 5 stars was overall I felt the company as a whole could have been more organized and I felt I was promised things only for them not to quite be fulfilled (ex. the Barrel Room was not complete). My suggestion to the company would be to more frequently contact your brides, even a monthly \"This is where you should be in your planning checklist\" e-mail would have made my doubts/questions more at ease. Kristine my coordinator was incredibly nice, hardworking (sorry for all the groomsmen hitting on you), and made the day go incredibly smooth. Many of my guests commented to me later that one of the bartenders was rude and possibly not as accommodating as the others. The bridal suite and groomsmen are (barn) were awesome and made getting ready stress free and fun. We had concerns about the food at the tasting, and addressed them with Kristine. She corrected our concerns and the day of we were incredibly happy with the food. Cedar Lake was a beautiful location and our pictures turned out INCREDIBLE (shoutout to Susie Vreeland). Even though the winery is open during your nuptials you really do not notice at all With our reception in the Barrel Room and private bathrooms, I had no idea the winery was even open which was awesome! I would 100% re-do my day here again and work with Kristine, and I fault her for none of the stress, I believe as a company there was a lack of communication (i.e. My first coordinator was let-go and I had no idea). Price wise I would say it was slightly expensive but you get what you pay for and we had amazing results. The on,y reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I'm an over communicator and our coordinator seemed to have too much on her plate leaving me waiting on responses longer than I would have liked. Also, our tab was closed the night of without telling us so I wasn't able to tip with our credit card on file. Venue and service day of were again perfect! As always, so was the food. Janice D(wedding party)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-08-2018 Positives first. The venue is beautiful. The photos on site were fabulous, in spite of a rainy day wedding. The food was delicious.Negatives. Our coordinator was not reliable, and the owners were less-than-updated on very important details such as putting up a tent. We spent a great deal of time just waiting for answers to questions that were vital to the success of the day. Eventually things worked out, but it was extremely stressful when the coordinator's only response to the simplest questions was \"I'll have to ask the owners.\" Over 600 weddings would make you think they have a very concrete plan of action in case of rain, but they had no idea even the measurements of a tent to use. The appetizers were set out on a small table in a corner which caused HUGE congestion and problems for our guests. Then, when the appetizers ran out, the server told the line, \"No we aren't refilling them. Those people only ordered 200 and that's gone.\" The venue struggled with set up changes, which we were told were fine and simple. Overall, the wedding and reception were lovely. We had a great time, but the stress of all pre-wedding events and getting a tent secured were extreme. Had we to do it again, we would choose a different location. The cost was about $20K when all was said and done. Reviewed on 06-06-2017

Daniel Ferguson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-07-2016 When thinking about our wedding, there is nothing else I could have wanted. Cedar Lake Cellars was perfect for us. Our ceremony was held down in the meadow under the apple tree with reception to follow at the barn. We used the golf cart for any of our guests that needed it and I, the bride, also used it to get to and from the ceremony site. We appreciated the list of trusted vendors that was provided to us from Cedar Lake and allowed us to have beautiful flowers and complete the look and feel of what we wanted. Since we weren't having a DJ and provided our own music, we rented a little sound system for the meadow and was able to used Cedar Lake's system for the events that followed up at the barn. All of the staff was very courteous and pleasant at our wedding. Since we have both previously worked at banquet halls we know this is not always the case. Our food was delicious and they were able to accommodate our request of three main dish options. I would highly recommend everyone to get the flank steak! It melts in your mouth! The bridal suite was perfect for getting ready and was a stress free environment before the wedding. Just like you can see from the website photos, there are many locations and options for every wedding couple that are absolutely beautiful. We had a lot of e-mail correspondence with Angie in order to hash out the fine detail of our event. She was very responsive and usually within a 24 hour window. I think it is impossible to have anything that is 100% without hiccups. With that in mind, the hiccups we encountered did not hinder our beautiful day. With our biggest obstacle of our photographer having to cancel the night before the wedding, Cedar Lake Cellars stepped up and was able to help fill our photo needs without even being asked. This in my opinion is great customer services. Since neither of us have been married before I appreciated all of the preemptive thought of on the day of our wedding. Ruth Altmiller(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-10-2015 I just got married here this past Saturday, and could not have asked for a better venue. \r\rTHE FOOD! My photographers and the band I used said that the food provided by Chef Lee was the best wedding food they had ever had. I would have to agree! The most notable dish was the lobster Mac 'n' cheese. My family from New England very much approved of the seafood--they said it tasted as good as any seafood they've had on the east coast. Chef Lee really worked hard to make our menu a blend of my St. Louis family and my husband's New England family. It was a HUGE hit. \r\rTHE SETTING! We got married at the waterfall. it was BEAUTIFUL and unique how the guests sit farther back, across the pond. The barn is stunning, the insides are quirky and rustic, and the changing colors on the fall trees were beautiful. Such a wonderful mix of of a rustic barn venue and sophisticated winery. Again, such a wonderful blend of mine and my husband's taste!\r\rTHE SERVICE! Overall the service was wonderful. Angie did an awesome job making me feel calm about everything, even on the day of! She responded to all of my million emails. She is extremely creative and did a wonderful job.\r\rThe reason I took one star off is that there were a couple ceremony hiccups.I was told someone would help me get my train across a little stone bridge, but no one was there. Additionally, they forgot to go over somethings in the rehearsal with us, like how my brother was supposed to walk down the aisle and then circle back to accompany and bridesmaid.\r\rOverall, I am so happy I chose Cedar Lake Cellars and would highly recommend them to anyone. I gave them decorations to put up without detailed instructions but they put things up so beautifully. I had so many guests told me that the venue was the best! Also the food and drinks are great. Emily Cloud(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-09-2014 Hands down, one of the most gorgeous venues in St. Louis. You could do zero planning and still have a satisfactory experience and beautiful pictures. The food is also delicious and very flexible, not your typical wedding buffet.\r\rThe down side to my experience was having venue planners switched on me, midway through the experience. I received someone who apparently focuses on corporate events and not as often weddings. I had to go through countless emails trying to get numbers, details and contracts figured out that still were not taken into account the day of my wedding. (Examples - The type of beers we selected, then running out of that beer after I had pre-warned, table settings, number of chairs at each table including the head table, resulting in people not having their seat and even the wedding party having to pull up chairs at their families tables instead of the head table, special diet people not receiving their meals, paying that much money and people not being given what they requested at the buffet line, not organizing cocktail hour the way we discussed, so people were very separated and the food we paid for was not consumed, etc.)\r\rOverall, our wedding day was perfect, I only add these things in a review because I wish I would have known the lack of attention to detail that would occur. So much work goes into planning one of the most special days of your life, you just wish people who do this day in and day out could put a main focus on all you are trying to celebrate. Tonya Moore(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-06-2013 Let me first say this place is gorgeous. However, there are more important things...\r\rThe wedding \"planner\" was downright rude and stressful. First, about 3 months away from the wedding date, I was informed my wedding planner was quitting. That sucked, but couldn't be helped. NO ONE contacted me for almost a month. Finally, I contacted them, and talked to Angie, who informed me she was my new planner. She was (and still is) very slow to communication. \rThe day before my wedding, my maid of honor called to ask if there were any problems, specifically if the creek had overflowed since the previous week had been hard rain. Angie said no. We found on the next day (the wedding day) that yes, the creek had overflowed.\rAngie had said the area was very wet, and that I should move the ceremony spot. I was very determined to have it next to the creek, so I said to go ahead and set up the chairs in the location. That didn't happen.\rThe next day (the wedding day) she WAS STILL trying to convince me to move my spot! I'm glad Iâm not a push over, but it was very stressful. \rAlso, there was some type of open sewer line problem, or backed up septic tank and the whole area smelled. I suppose it would be too much to ask that they tell brides thatâŠ..\rAngie had told me she or staff would direct guests the wedding spot so they wouldn't be wondering around. That never happened. I had several guests who walked clear to the back of the property trying to figure out where to go. Angie kept hovering around me even though I was trying to take pictures or talk to family. She is in a lot of my wedding photos!!\r\rAND ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING:\rThe groom's father, unfortunately recently lost a leg. I was told that it was no problem, Cedar Lake would have a golf cart or Gator bring him and any older guests (Grandma, Grandpa etc) to the ceremony spot. On the day of the wedding, Angie told us that there was a gator available but she didn't think the owner's wanted their lawn torn up and the gator might \"get stuck\". The owners or Angie finally gave in after 30 mins, however, the groom's father was so embarrassed about being such a âburdenâ, he went home. I was MORTIFIED. \rTO TOP IT ALL OFF - I was informed by Angie (this is maybe an hour till I walked down the aisle) that I hadn't paid my balance, and I was still needing a $1300 payment. I was sure I had everything paid, so I checked the paperwork she had (silly me, I hadn't thought I would need MY receipts on my wedding day). The paperwork had me listed at $1300 short, but I didn't have time to refute it. So I paid the $1300 (THANK GOD I have that ability, not many brides would be able to! And I wonder what they would have done, had I not had the money.) However, after the wedding, I checked my receipts and saw that yes, I HAD PAID in full. And after comparing my numbers to her numbers, she was also trying to charge me $500 more than the agreed upon amount. So now I'm waiting on my money to be returned. \r\rThe venue is pretty but if youâre a push-over or people-pleaser, DO NOT book this place. You will be walked on top of.\r Reviewed on 11-06-2013
Brittany Kopf(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-08-2012 Cedar Lake Cellars is an amazing place. My now husband and I decided to use Cedar Lake for our wedding ceremony and reception the very first time we went out there because we both fell in love with it immediately. The wedding couldn't have been more perfect, despite rain pouring down on us ALLLLLL day long. Angie, our planner out there couldn't have been more on top of everything the day of the wedding. She had the answer to anything that could have gone wrong and was the primary reason everything went so smoothly. In fact, there were only two problems that I had with Cedar lake the entire time I was planning for my wedding. I was the type of bride that had to have all of the information laid out in front of me and organized through out the process and at times I felt like I was on my own to plan, but that was not always the case, they just take care of details closer to the wedding date. The primary problem I had was any time that I had to deal with the other planner on staff at cedar lake. She was down right rude and would not answer e-mails immediately, once taking over a month to return an e-mail to me, costing us the original wedding date we had hoped for. Over all though, Cedar Lake is a magical location to have a wedding or any other form of event. I have received so many compliments on the wedding, the food they provided and everything else! Weather changed quickly, and what was 80 degrees the day before, turned into a 40 degree wedding day. The ceremony was set up in the reception area with tent walls; a covered open area attached to a barn. Everything worked out perfect! The open reception area has tent walls that roll down when needed, or up and out of the way when weather is nice. They also have heaters to heat the area when needed, as well as fans for those hot summer-like evenings. All employees worked hard; they help with set up and take down. Food choices are amazing. When we selected the venue, it was only an event venue not yet a winery. It was beautiful, unique and exactly what we wanted. \r\rA few things about this place is they need to work harder to keep the winery guests out of the private event areas during the event and the prep time before. If you are uncomfortable having winery guests watch your wedding, from a bit of distance you may not enjoy this place. \r\rWe had the BBQ menu, and I do have one issue that they did not provide the right beef entree with our meal, but everyone loved what they did have so it didn't really matter to me. \r\rThe wedding coordinator they provided, we actually flipped between 3 different coordinators there due to promotions and scheduling issues. Originally we worked with Michelle, then moved to Angie and finished with Jeannie. I wish we would have had one person the entire way through just because I had to reexplain our ideas over again. They helped with all of the details as though we hired a wedding planner and helped with everything needed. We also had our rehearsal dinner here and the food (which we did a BBQ buffet) was amazing and the staff was perfect. After the ceremony while we were taking pictures our guests went over to the winery and drank until it was time to leave for the reception. It was the perfect location to keep the ceremony small and intimate yet create something for the guests to do in the wedding limbo period.
