Celebrate at Snug Harbor Reviews

We had visited and spoken with several other venues prior to Snug Harbor, but from the moment we toured the grounds and met with the Celebrate team, we knew we had found our venue. Our very first phone call and subsequent tour with Josephine were easygoing yet professional, and she took the time to get to know us and answer all of our many questions. We never felt pressured or rushed, and it was a breath of fresh air when compared to some of the more sterile or generic conversations we experienced. This would be true for all of our correspondence with the Celebrate team, and we always felt like we were in good hands. On the day of our wedding, they were there to hype us up, calm our nerves, and remind us to eat, reassuring us that there was nothing to worry about. Our guests also raved about the food. Food was an extremely important factor for us when choosing our venue, and Relish Catering exceeded our expectations. The quality of food was incredible, and there was such a great variety of options to choose from when deciding our menu. Finally, regarding the space itself — it is simply beautiful. The grounds at Snug Harbor are unique and truly special. As a Chinese American couple, we were especially drawn to the Chinese Scholar Garden (the pictures do not do it justice!), and Snug Harbor was the perfect venue for us to honor both our cultures. We had an outdoor wedding, starting with our ceremony in the breathtaking Tuscan Garden, followed by cocktail hour at the Chinese Scholar Garden. Our reception took place in the Tented Pavilion, and there was ample space for our 145 guests to dance, socialize, or play lawn games. Although we were very fortunate to have great weather on the day of our wedding (June 10, 2023), it was also important for us to have a fallback option available for inclement weather, and we were relieved that we would be allowed to utilize their indoor spaces - also very beautiful - if needed. Overall, we would definitely recommend Celebrate at Snug Harbor. We had an extraordinary wedding day, and it would not have been possible without the Celebrate team. Special shoutout to Jessica and Josephine, who were with us every step of the way! Reviewed on 03-07-2023

We loved our wedding at Snug Harbor. Josephine & Jessica were thorough and very professional taking away a lot of the stress and anxiety that comes with a wedding day. We had two in person meetings, one in the beginning and one shortly before the wedding, and constant email contact. They made sure to have every single detail that was needed for the big day. We ran into 0 problems the day of the wedding (not that we know of at least, which is even nicer) thanks to them. Our bridal attendant the day of, Alva, was an angel. She helped me cheer up about the rain “ruining” the day. She was incredibly helpful when we were getting our pictures done making sure to have umbrellas for us and helping me hold my dress to make sure it didn’t get wet or dirty. The day went smoothly with little worry on our end thanks to the team at Snug Harbor. I would talk more on the grounds but I feel like that beauty speaks for itself. Reviewed on 13-12-2023

We had a rainy day for our wedding but Snug Harbor really came through! We had it under the tented pavilion and they assured us everything would be fine - and it was! We had a truly magical night, and the food was BEYOND excellent (everyone finished their meals and complimented it). I still am daydreaming about it. Jessica, the special events coordinator, was a sweetheart to work with and made my life so much easier. She really was on our side and I loved talking with her. And the staff was excellent too. Overall, 5/5 stars! Thank you so much Snug Harbor for a once in a lifetime memory we will cherish forever. Reviewed on 09-11-2023

My husband and I were in search of a venue that had the following: -didn’t require a headcount over 100-under $225 per person-cocktail hour and open bar -on Staten Island -an indoor/outdoor feel-allowed to bring our own vendors-not a fancy fancy big hallThe tented pavilion fit our needs perfectly! We were able to do a Sunday wedding on a holiday weekend with 75 people. The space was and indoor outdoor feel, with the availability to bring our own vendors and customize the event as much as possible. PROS: Super affordable - We were do our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all inside the tent for 75 people and the total cost was around $15,000. UNBELIEVABLE food & drinks - we were able to customize our menu options and the food was out of this world. Super plentiful, and we incredible presentation! Our guests couldnt stop raving about it. AMAZING staff- Jessica and Josephine are incredible coordinators who guided me through every single step in the process. So responsive and helpful. The wait staff was spot on with super fast and attentive service. Our guests were soo happy!!Lots of perks are included - wedding cake from Palermos bakery (best cake we ever had!! Our guests loved it!), signature drink, valet parking, free vendor meals if using their reccomendations, getting ready suites, day of coordinator, bridal attendant, company is willing to help with simple signage, menus etc. CONS- The venue need some updates - even after verifying prior, the concrete floor of the tent was not power washed. My wedding dress was black with dirt by the time I walked down the aisle to the alter. The floor was so dirty, I had to throw out my white wedding shoes after (they were also black with dirt) Also, the benches were not cleaned prior, which was disappointing. No valet - Valet is supposedly included, however they were no where to be found the day of my wedding. My guest knew where to park, but there was no valet or personnel to guide them where to go. There were no signage as promised to tell people where our event was, everyone got lost. Leaking bathroom- the bathrooms are like campsite bathrooms, very dated but we were okay with them. The weekend of our wedding poured and the room by the bathroom was completely FLOODED, water leaking from the ceiling and flooding the floors. It was unusable, and looked terrible considering it was part of the venue space, and we couldn’t put any decor in there. It was a blank empty wet room the entire night.Staff attire- Although the staff was incredible, their attire lacked professionalism. Key staff persons that were consistently in my photos or on the floor infront of our guests were in sneakers, one in a bright yellow sweatsuit, wearing a tshirt. This wasn’t a dealbreaker to me, but something that may discourage other brides on their formal wedding day. Set up - I was a DIY bride but keep in mind that this venue does not help set up any decor. You will need to have vendors come and set up, and if anything is brought beforehand you need to trek your items to the tent. Our wedding was the BEST DAY EVER!!!! Regardless of the rainy weather and the cons mentioned above, we simply had the most perfect day ever! Thank you to Celebrate staff for making it so special. Reviewed on 05-11-2023

One of the best (if not the best!) decisions we made in our wedding planning process was to work with Celebrate at Snug Harbor! Josephine and Jessica were so wonderful, responsive, and supportive to work with - I truly couldn't have asked for a better team. On the wedding day, they were so efficient and got everything to run smoothly and on schedule. My husband and I got married at Snug Harbor in June 2023, and I honestly can't say enough positive things about our experience. First of all, the venue is absolutely beautiful. We had our ceremony in the Tuscan Garden, so I was able to live out some fantasies of an Italian wedding while still being in NYC, our cocktail hour in the Chinese Scholar Garden, and the reception in the Tented Pavilion. We got so many comments from our guests about how gorgeous the venue was, and truly unlike anything other place we've seen. It felt like we were really out of the city, while still being convenient for many of our guests. Apart from how beautiful it is, we worked with Jessica and Josephine throughout the process, and they were so helpful in answering all of our questions, and making me feel more relaxed during the process. On the day of, Jessica was absolutely incredible at handling logistics and making sure everything ran smoothly. We didn't use a wedding planner, but honestly between their help and the list of preferred vendors (all of whom were fantastic) it was really not necessary. Last but not least, the food! I had at least 10+ specifically reach out to comment on how good the food was. That wasn't something I was expecting from a venue that was all inclusive, but it was really super high quality and delicious. Overall, we had such a wonderful experience, and if you are looking for an easy and smooth experience, and if you want to get married in NYC but feel like you are in the country, Snug Harbor is the perfect spot. As a floral design company, we have had the privilege of working on numerous weddings at Celebrate at Snug Harbor, and I am excited to share my experience. I would like to give special thanks to Josephine and Jessica, who have been incredibly helpful and made our work smoother and more organized. In a venue like Celebrate at Snug Harbor, which boasts multiple gardens, effective internal teamwork, and communication are essential for every event.Celebrate at Snug Harbor has a unique and enchanting natural countryside feel. It stands out from other venues, and you can easily tell why many couples love this place. The entire venue offers numerous picturesque spots, which is a significant plus for both guests and newlyweds.Over the past year, we have worked on wedding ceremonies in the White Garden and the Tuscan Garden. The White Garden features a vast and stunning lawn, while the Tuscan Garden has a touch of classical architectural design. The fountain in the Tuscan Garden leaves a lasting impression on guests.Let's talk about the Chinese Scholar Garden, which is the only Chinese-themed garden in New York. It is perfect for couples who appreciate Chinese culture. Cocktail hours are usually held there, and the designated vendor, Relish Catering, provides food and services. The Tented Pavilion serves as the primary reception venue. The food and tableware are all provided by Relish Catering. They pay great attention to detail when it comes to table settings and culinary presentations. In conclusion, we highly recommend Celebrate at Snug Harbor. We were concerned about having an outdoor wedding in the beginning of october but the entire time the staff and planners assured us about all the preparation that went into making sure we had a seamless wedding. I cannot recommend the staff enough for how attentive they were the day of and assisting my wife and I with making sure things were going according to plan and making sure we were fed because its so easy to forget to eat on your wedding day! Roshani Udugampola(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-10-2022 Overall the service was incredible the day of the wedding. I stepped in as wedding planner to my best friends. The ceremony was held in the garden, cocktail hour in the Chinese Zen Garden and the reception in the tented pavilion.Early on, due to movement, we did have difficulty organizing communication for payments and such. However, everything truly turned around and came together to perfection the day of all due to the great help of Jessica Martinez and Anaya who was the bridal attendant. The day of I could rely on both these women to help organize vendors and the bridal party. I really did not feel like I was alone in executing this wedding because of their assistance. The bridal suite doesn’t have the best AC. We had wished the AC was on prior to arrival. The grooms suite was just down the hall and was quite cramped compared to the bridal suite. It had no natural light and there weren’t enough stable places to hand suits. One thing we noticed was guests were not being directed to the ceremony area and were walking passed the couple and bridal party. The grounds are large and guests could have been better directed. The food the day of was great! One thing I noticed was some thing could have been served warmer for the pass around service. Desserts also seemed to be missed by some guests during pass around service at the reception. The bartender also on staff for one side seemed to have been new as they had difficulty with remembering drink recipes. Breakdown went well, once again all due to a large help from our event coordinator and bridal attendant. Even with all the minute issues and small challenges the service from Jessica and Anaya really made it all worth it. Thank you again ladies! Reviewed on 16-10-2022

Abigail Pope-Brooks(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-10-2022 Overall we had a very good experience with this venue/caterer. They provide so many things and services that you'd otherwise have to arrange yourself, or realize you needed when it was too late! Erin (planner) and Jessica (coordinator) were patient and helpful, responding to our questions very promptly and were accommodating to our request to mix-and-match food from the brunch and dinner menu, and to have a half-hour of \"guest arrival\" time in the Chinese Scholar's Garden on top of cocktail hour, as we did not have a ceremony onsite. One thing that was frustrating throughout was that they didn't have something like a comprehensive info packet with all of the things they do/offer/provide, so we had to find things out by asking specific questions, which led to very long email chains and constant stream of questions. They did this too with our vendors who were new to them -- rather than telling them everything up front, they would just answer questions as they were asked. Unfortunately, Erin left for a new job after we booked thinking she would be our planner, and even after several months, Snug did not replace her, so they were short-staffed, which was concerning. Jessica became our main contact, and despite this loss in staffing, she made the day go very smoothly with very few issues, all of which were minor. I was delighted that the food at the wedding was actually good! (The food at their big tasting event was disappointing, where we could only taste from a limited menu and I thought the flavors fell flat; we could not taste the food before booking). We had cocktail hour in the Chinese Scholar's Garden and reception in the Tented Pavilion -- our day was cold and rainy, but their heat lamps at the tent helped a bit. Our bridal attendant was Diana who we completely loved -- very helpful to us and our family, and her relaxed and confident attitude was really reassuring. Various small things were not done as we had agreed/expected, but again they were minor and ok. For example, some caterers let you take home the leftover food, but Snug does not allow it (no reason given) -- they only let the bride/groom take home a few servings. Another example was they said they would have hand sanitizer stations at the tent, but they did not. And they did not know the dimensions of the chandeliers for my florist. Again, it all was ok/worked out, and there were many other requests that were met as expected. Overall we had a positive experience with Jessica and the service staff and really enjoyed our wedding day--they made it all run really well, which was the most important thing. They even stood in the rain to direct guests from cocktail hour to the tent! Especially at an affordable price point with all the service involved, I highly recommend going with Snug if you want to have an easy wedding experience with people who really know what they're doing and have done this a million times over! We then moved into the Great Hall for our reception, whose towering ornate 30ft ceilings were spectacular and provided great acoustics. The ambiance was warm and inviting, yet with nearly 175 people attending there was MORE than enough space for everyone and a huge dance floor. Second, the food is INCREDIBLE. Their experienced staff had everything from sushi and lobster rolls to fried chicken + red velvet waffle sandwiches. We can’t emphasize enough the diversity of options and exceptional execution of everything they do. What’s more, their kitchen is extremely accommodating with all dietary restrictions and has a delicious plant-based menu. Did we mention the fabulous open bar? Third—and the MOST important—what made Snug Harbor the best decision of our entire wedding planning process was their STAFF. Everyone is professional, funny, relaxed and ready to support you and make your day be the greatest day of your lives. John Ianniello (our event specialist) and his team now feel like lifelong friends to us. Like many Covid couples, we’d planned to have our wedding at Snug Harbor in November 2020 but had to move it to June 2021. In the process, John and team were nothing short of incredible, going so far out of their way for the smallest details to make our day perfect (and extremely safe!). When an issue inevitably happened with an outside vendor, we didn’t have to lift a finger; John and Erin covered everything for us. What’s more, we can confidently say that our wedding was extremely Covid compliant and safe thanks to the Celebrate team. Celebrate at Snug Harbor is simply the best wedding venue Staten Island has to offer, and is one of the best wedding venues in New York City. Reviewed on 20-06-2021
April Dawn Santos(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-05-2021 Celebrate at Snug Harbor was not even a choice on my list for our venue. It had come up and we decided to go and look. Boy, did it exceed our expectations.Staten Island is not known for a lot of positive things however, this venue is the secret gem, if not, the main reason why Staten Island is on the map to begin with. From Erin O' Keefe, one of the wedding coordinators, as well as her entire team (from her counterparts, the bartenders, the waiters, the attendances, maire d's and especially Emily), my now husband and I felt like we were royalty. I am a planner myself-so if there are any brides that are just as particular as I am, I am letting you know that Erin and her team are the DREAM team to make all your endeavors come true. For example, I wrote a 4 page (no spaces) in depth logistic summary that included the venue personnel, the photographer, videographer, DJ and florist. Celebrate and Snug dissected every line and every sentence to ensure that EVERY detail was met. During the engagement period to the actual wedding day, my father had passed away from COVID. I lost all ambition to plan a wedding and to celebrate this important day. When we had spoken to the venue in regards to possibly cancelling the big day, Erin and her team showed so much compassion to our family. Regardless that they are a business that strives on events, they were the most compassionate people during the time of me going through the emotions of death of my father. Without being obnoxious, they would call from time to time just to check in- no wedding talk but just to check in to see if I was alright. Some people may find that annoying but during the time of isolation and also working in the medical field, i thoroughly relished in their support. Now, the wedding day itself- all the weekends in May 2021 were beautiful and sunny...except for the weekend that we got married. It rained tremendously. However, this venue made me feel like the rain did not even exist. They were already pre-planning plan B in order to make sure to stay consistent with time and they found locations on the grounds to make sure I had amazing photos. My team- Erin and Emily and John stood in the rain- soaking wet to make sure that my husband and I looked like nothing phased us. With them by our sides, nothing actually did. The food from Relish Catering is amazing. We love the food! Our signature cocktails and open bar were greatly used during the wedding. The bartenders were fun and witty and our guests had a blast enjoying their drinks. The Great Hall, or as we call it the 9 3/4 room (harry potter reference), is as tall as a sky scraper but feels as intimate as a cottage. With the fire places lit and the candles aglow, our guests and us felt like Snug Harbor embraced us that night. Our ceremony was held downstairs. We were supposed to have it in the Tuscan Garden but with the rain, we relocated. I did not have much to say in regards to the ceremony because the team pulled it off. They understood the vision, the feel, the vibe that we were trying to emulate. If you are looking for a great wedding on beautiful grounds, then choose Celebrate at Snug Harbor, where the gardens and the flowers show endless beauty. If you are looking for a perfect wedding that can overcome any situation, including downpour of rain and 40 degree weather in the month of May, then choose Celebrate at Snug Harbor. Samantha Goldberg(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-10-2020 My husband and I both come from hospitality and unfortunately know that true, genuine customer experience is hard to come by... especially in NY where everything is too fast and stressful. John, throughout the entire experience, from signing the contract to waving us off as a married couple, exuted the true definition of hospitality and what it means to take care of the customer like family. We feel so privileged to have met him, and your entire team. John’s leadership is bar none. His team throughout the wedding was attentive and receptive to all his requests. He is a natural leader that has the respect and support from his staff. You can clearly tell the team loves what they do and enjoy being there making these special moments and events come to life. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Shelby and Erin. Shelby has the heart of gold and made me feel so calm on such a high emotion day. My mom has dementia and has trouble walking. My bridesmaids knew that she was a priority to ensure I had a good day and I know they were prepared to be preoccupied with her. We didn’t know the extent of Shelby being involved in our event, but she jumped in like she had known my mom for years and made me feel so comfortable and stressless, as well as for my girlfriends. She spent the whole party with her, while still overseeing other responsibilities. I can go on and on about her, but just know I think the world of her work ethic and approach to the customer needs. Erin is spot on. She is under the radar and non obrusive. She was by my side the entire event but not overwhelming. She guided our photographer like an expert and hands down made the timeline of everything workout seamlessly. She’s also so lovely and sweet. Writing this brings tears to my eyes because I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our guests were blown away by the atmosphere, the food, and the hospitality. An extraordinary setting can fail because of mediocre dishes or lack luster service. Relish and Snug are a 10/10. It is remarkable to be able to write this. During quarantine, especially with our incident where a fiasco started in March, to end this story with the best outcome, our words, your teams, the feelings and expectations hit home so much more. We love your team, we loved our wedding, and we will forever love our memories.I would recommend this venue to ANYONE looking for the best in price, grounds (use Chinese garden for ceremony for a truly magical setting) and team. Samantha Leung(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-10-2020 We actually didn't know about Celebrate at Snug Harbor when we first started venue shopping. We stumbled across their site when looking for an all outdoor venue in response to COVID. After connecting with John, and the rest of the team, we wonder why we didn't book with them in the first place. They made the planning progress was so easy which was such a relief as our initial plans were already thrown out the window. With Celebrate, they made me not just feel, but believe we were planning my wedding like any other year. The response we received from Celebrate were almost immediate, and they were genuinely will to work with us. If anything, we feel terrible we pestered them so much! Nevertheless, the team was amazingly attentive and never bothered by our barrage of questions and concerns. This is more than I can say for our original venue who never reached out to contact us even once at the beginning of quarantine orders nor even after social gathering limits were imposed. Even though incredible safety measures were put in place in response to the pandemic, it honestly did not feel like we were in one once the day began. We can only attribute this to the wonderful care, attention to detail, and genuine desire to be present to support us the team demonstrated. Shelby and John helped us (especially me) stay relaxed which is not an easy thing to do and knowing there was a whole team of members (sincerest apologies for not remembering all your names) behind them to support gave us the confidence to know our wedding was going to be a night to remember; pandemic or not. With hands tied, the team at Celebrate were able to pull off everything we wanted, and the whole event came out better than we expected. Selecting the exact spot was difficult because every site was stunning. I was impressed with how serious they took precautions, which made us feel safe and comfortable. The food was delicious! By the end of the event none of our guests could eat the donuts we gave as favors! John and Erin went, and I can't stress this enough, above and beyond to make our wedding as perfect as possible. We had rain all day during our event and they worked incredibly hard to move sites and make it absolutely gorgeous. I am being sincere when I say without John and Erin, our wedding would have been catastrophic. John was tremendous in designing the center pieces and welcome areas, and setting up our first look. Erin wasn't even our event planner and she still stayed the whole time to help us. I could continue to write positive notes all day but I'm running out of space. Our wedding was booked at a venue in Brooklyn, and as it got to nearly a month before our date, indoor dining/gathering restrictions were still in place, and we had to come to terms with deciding on whether to postpone our event or find a different venue. My mom got the recommendation of Snug Harbor from a relative, so she called and spoke with John, relayed our sob story, and the rest is history. John and Erin (Celebrate Snug Harbor) are extremely personable and they worked their butts off to help make our wedding an event that all who attended will always remember. They coordinated with our florist, DJ, and photo/video vendors from the former venue, they kept things running on schedule as best as possible, they even golf-carted multiple family and friends around the grounds to get from the ceremony to the reception. Aside from the truly wonderful people that work for CSH (awesome service staff!), the grounds are idyllic and offer a safe, outdoor alternative for a wedding event (our ceremony was in the Tuscan Garden and reception in the tented pavilion). Everything turned out beautifully, we had a blast, and there aren't enough positive things to say about our experience with Celebrate Snug Harbor. The gardens and the Great Hall were magnificent, and the food was *amazing*. Get the rack of lamb; our guests were raving about it.The venue should get 3.5 stars (I rounded up to 4 since we had such a special day) because we had a number of snafus to be aware of: 1) our original event planner at Snug stop answering our emails and was mysteriously fired--something we didn't find out until our next payment was due. 2) John, who took over, was great, but even though we were told by our original contact that there was only one wedding per day, that wasn't true. There were more, and John ended up working that one, so the day of the wedding we met two people who were going to be working it for the first time; John never mentioned this to us in all of our correspondence. 3) Because we were not told there was more than one wedding, the valet parking we paid for sent people to the wrong wedding site, and one of our friends ended up missing our ceremony because they were sent to the wrong place! If we had found out before the morning of when we were taking our photos we were there we would have made sure our guests knew to ask specifically for our wedding 4) Our day of coordinator, who we met briefly, was also let go, something we were not told until I asked why she was no longer CCed on our emails. I was very unhappy about this because all of our vendors had contact information for someone who was no longer at the company and they never told us. What if I didn't ask? Theresa, who took over, was great--but we also barely saw her the day of the wedding, because she (like John) was working the other one.5) Shelby, who helped us the day of, was nice, but likely due to the loss of staff things we wanted (such as a sample of all the cocktail hour food in the bridal suite) never happened. My husband wanted nothing more than the sushi, and we got none of it. They told us they were making the mini chicken tacos for us, and they never appeared. I'm not even sure if guests got them.6) The festoon lights, which in our planning sheet were noted to be removed, were not taken down. We hated them, as they closed off the space completely, and when I tossed my bouquet it hit the lights, exploded (flowers went flying out), and broke two bulbs. Our guests were lucky they were not hit with shards of glass.7) In general, we felt like our wedding was not a priority, and were really annoyed that our (new) wedding coordinators, John and Theresa, were not making sure things were going right on our special day.Again, the space was spectacular, the food was amazing, and we have absolutely no regrets having our wedding at Snug Harbor. We would recommend it to other couples. But make sure to demand things, like being paired with the same coordinators for the day of, ensuring that the valet parking people KNOW there are TWO weddings, that the festoon lights are not there when you arrive (unless you want them to be), that everything your guests are getting--including sushi--is waiting in your bridal suite to eat during cocktail hour, and follow up constantly. I made sure to send multiple follow up emails, but was never once told that our coordinator would not be working our wedding. Meeting our day-of coordinator for the FIRST TIME the morning of the wedding (I didn't even get an email from anyone) was just unacceptable. Reviewed on 28-07-2019

When I had come to them with the idea of a daytime wedding, they had so many ideas for me and helped make our event magical. We chose to get married at Snug Harbor and then have an early Sunday wedding dinner under their tented pavilion. Our family was blown away by the beauty of Snug Harbor and continue to rave about the passed hors d’oeuvres as well as the passed desserts. John Surace(groom)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-06-2019 The grounds are stunning, but Celebrate Snug Harbor's coordination with the remainder of the park left something to be desired. Although my wife and I corresponded with Erin for over a year, there was no mention of the carnival that took place adjacent to the Tuscan Garden. We instead learned about it on the morning of our wedding. The event pushed our wedding back an hour, though we only received a thirty minute extension. This put a lot of pressure on Erin and her team, as well as our photographer and DJ. We missed plenty of photo opportunities, most of which we spent the months leading up to our wedding planning with our photographer. Elderly guests were stranded for a bit as only 1 golf cart was available, though we were told there would be multiple. Our dedicated valet parking lot was overrun with carnival goers, and all of my guests had to scramble to find parking wherever available. I literally parked in weeds. Guests were wandering around lost in the dimly park at night, trying to find their cars.Although Celebrate Snug Harbor compensated us for additional fees incurred by the photography studio, they completely dropped the ball and forgot to set aside cocktail hour food for my wife and me. We were, however, offered us a cheese board moments before making our entrance in the Great Hall. We took care and consideration in selecting the food for the cocktail hour, and were assured we'd be served, too.The aforementioned issues, as well others were thoroughly addressed in a letter to the CEO, and in addition to a check to cover the photography bill, we only spa robes with initials embroidered on them. Meh.No formal apology from Erin or her staff, either. If you book, ask lots of questions. Reviewed on 12-07-2019

I booked this venue a few days after I took the tour, the grouds had massive potential to be turned into the \"greenery\" wedding that I dreamed about. From an beautiful Chinese schoolar garden to the spectacular tuscan garden and a simple yet sophisticated tented pavilion, I knew my wedding had to be there. A few months before the wedding as any bride would feel I was all over the place, obviously beginning to doubt my venue, photographer and even wedding dress. I never felt so safe, taken care of and relaxed than when John Lanniello (wedding coordinator) grabbed my hand and said \"enjoy your day, I got it from here\". I get very emotional about it because my mind was a mess leading up to my wedding day, him and his dedicated team made it happen so effortless and impeccable. John Ianniello was our event specialist for our daughters recent Communion party at Celebrate at Snug Harbors Tented Pavilion. John and his crew were a pleasure to work with! John was very professional throughout the entire event planning process. He stayed on top of everything and was on point making sure he catered to any/all requests we had. From diving into the storage room to find the perfect coordinating chargers, risers, and props for our dessert bar display, to staying late to ensure that our final layout was exactly as we had envisioned it, to getting my place cards on each plate at the very last minute when I arrived with them, to bringing all of our visions to fruition the day of the event. John, Theresa, & Erin were incredible!! They truly attended to all we had wished for and much more. The Tented Pavilion was gorgeous! The drapery and Chandeliers were so pretty! They brought such an elegant touch to the venue. The Pavilion was spacious. It was perfect for our event, as the kids were able to play on the grass off the platform & enjoy the bubble entertainer we had. Everyone loved the whole ambiance of the event. My guests complimented on how wonderful everything was. The service was great! The food was excellent!!! Each dish was presented in such a beautiful display!! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous for pictures. It was so convenient that we were able to capture all the beauty of the lush botanical gardens in our pictures. Our pictures are really beautiful. The natural greenery and blossoming flowers made the perfect backdrops for our special day!! Overall, we were beyond happy with the venue, John and his crew, and the grounds at Snug Harbor. I hosted a bridal shower in the tented pavilion May 2019. I will start by saying I am extremely picky and my expectations were the same as from my very own wedding (for reference I am comparing to an iconic Manhattan venue.) John and his team surpassed that experience Not one detail was over looked and they were so incredibly involved, invested and truly cared about every aspect as if it were their own personal event. For example, John created a signature drink table for us and it was spectacular, apparent to all the effort put in on the “extras”Service - waitstaff was amazing !! No one had an empty drink or was ever in need of anything, someone was always there. The attention to detail was exceptional and they helped keep the party flowing nicely which is important. Food- this is not standard “venue” food. The chef and John work to come up with creative options. This is something you do not experience at most venues. Ambiance - dreamy. The tent was new and magnificent , the chandelier and draping added elevated detail, it’s truly like another world. The bride was so pleased she is looking here for her wedding too. She was there every minute to attend to our needs and stayed till every guest left. I can't say enough about her. They could not have worked harder to bring my daughter's vision together. Ian was slow on board but, he came through at the end. All were a pleasure to work with. However, some things you should be aware of. The staff needs to be a little more organized and response time should be faster. but I think they are working those things out. When it became evident that our outdoor wedding wasn't in the cards due to rain, they worked with my husband to put together a contingency plan that ended up being so much more special than what we had originally planned. I ended up being so grateful for the rain because I wouldn't have wanted to change a single thing about our day. I really can't thank them enough for everything they did for us, and all the small touches they provided (like the way they prepped my bridal suite, the custom dessert chef made for my husband and I, and providing table number holders when I realized I had left ours at home -- at least it wasn't the rings!) I don't have any family near me up here in New York so I felt very overwhelmed when I first began planning - worried that I was going to have all the weight on my shoulders and that I wouldn't be able to pull it off. The SH team stepped in and actualized my dreams. I really can't recommend them, or the beautiful gardens enough. While the day-of staff did their best to be attentive, the entire planning process was very disorganized. Every email required multiple reply-all emails to a team of people to get a response. Often times we had to schedule phone calls or meetings to go over details that ended up being lost, or forgotten. If attention to detail is a concern of yours, I do not recommend this venue. During the day of, the floor plan was completely incorrect as the coordinator did not get the finalized plan from the office staff. While they quickly went to rearrange everything before the reception, the reorganization resulted in missed seating. We had roughly 6-8 guests who were left seatless. My groomsmen had to give up their seats so that they could be seated and fed. The bridal attendant was amazing. She was super responsive and really tried her best to make the day as best as possible. I would recommend some sort of CRM or event management tool for their office, as it's clear there was a lot of details that were \"lost in the file.\" Food was fine - except that the cocktail hour had food we did not request, and missed food that we did. Ultimately, if nonchalance is your thing, Snug Harbor would be fine. Otherwise, I'd save myself the headaches, and find a venue that is a bit more organized. Reviewed on 01-10-2018

They would take weeks to reply to our emails and it seemed like they weren’t communicating with each other so we would often get different responses from different people. At one point we even got two invoices with different balances we owed. The day of coordination was far from perfect. The team told my florist to leave the flowers for the ceremony (which I paid extra for) INSIDE and said they would place them outdoors if we end up having the ceremony outside. I walked down the aisle realizing nothing I envisioned for my wedding were in place for the ceremony and later on found them all around the sweetheart table at our reception. I was told later on by my bridesmaids prior to the ceremony the coordinator was giving out confusing directions to our wedding party. The bridal attendant was the most attentive and helpful that day. She was also great with directing our photographer on where to take pictures. During the reception I noticed many little things they neglected; my cake topper was missing. They left it in the box I brought it in and just left it on the bench. I was told later on during the reception some guests didn’t have seats because they got the seating arrangement wrong.
