History
This historic mansion was built in 1888 on a tract of land originally known as Dulaney’s Lot, which has a rich history tracing back to 1724. The land was granted to General Otho Williams in the 1780s. Upon it, he built the Ceresville grist mill, the original Mansion house, and a sawmill. Edward Shriner, who bought the property from Williams in 1816, built the Ceresville Mansion in 1888 as a wedding anniversary gift to his wife.
Taylor Dodson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-10-2022 Our wedding on 10/22/2022 was absolutely perfect and it's largely due to the hard work and dedicated staff at Ceresville Mansion. Juli, our coordinator, was absolutely phenomenal from our first tour of the Mansion to the very end of our wedding reception. She made sure every question we had was answered, and worked directly with us to recommend vendors, food and drinks, even helping us design our seating chart layout! She made sure everything was perfect and that everyone had an absolute blast at our wedding. Haley, our day-of coordinator, was also amazing! She ran our ceremony rehearsal, ensuring that everything was set and ready to go for the big day. During the wedding, she made sure we stayed on track and stuck to the timeline, and everything went as planned! The Mansion itself is absolutely beautiful and the perfect backdrop for a timeless and classic wedding. Planning was made easy because it is an all-inclusive venue. We didn't have to worry about coordinating outside vendors because they came as part of the package. This helped take away a lot of the stress of wedding planning. The food was SPECTACULAR! Everything is of the highest quality, and no guests were left hungry! One specific item our guests raved about was the lobster mac and cheese, which we offered as a late night snack. It was a huge hit and gave our guests the energy to dance late into the night! We are so grateful to the Ceresville Mansion staff for all of their hard work. Ceresville made it so easy, having both the gorgeous venue, catering, and a vendor package available (DJ, Videographer, Photographer, Flowers, Decor, Limo service, plus options to add more services, so we could customize to our liking), so the planning process was straightforward, and as easy as possible! The rehearsal was flawless, with Juli working easily with our wedding planner, and then the day of the wedding, everything was beautifully orchestrated. Amanda Mauceri(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-09-2019 Ceresville was one of the first venues we looked at. We toured about six venues in total, but Ceresville kept being on the top of our list for the venue’s history and charm, beautiful outdoor spaces, catering already included, and proximity to a downtown area to entertain our guests over the weekend. Once we selected Ceresville for our Saturday evening wedding and started the planning process, we knew we made the perfect choice. We had about 100 guests attend our ceremony under the pergola and reception in the ballroom. Alison was our Ceresville event planner and we loved working with her. She was very helpful via email and phone by working with our budget on the menu items and signature drinks. Ceresville’s day-of team was equally amazing by making sure everything ran smoothly and we always had something to eat and drink on our wedding day. It’s such a plus Ceresville includes a day-of coordinator as well! We did a plated meal for our guests and all the food we chose was delicious. From when I arrived at our Ceresville to start my hair and makeup to the last dance on the pergola at the end of the night, we felt completely supported and taken care of by the Ceresville Team. Liz Johnson-Heitlinger(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-08-2018 Overall had a good wedding with Ceresville Mansion. Good communication during the planning process and organized. I was disappointed with the day-of experience. Our young onsite coordinator seemed inexperienced and my family was quite upset with the manner in which they were directed and spoken to throughout the day. There was another wedding at the venue prior to ours, so we understood that it was a busy/stressful day. However, for the money that was being spent, we expected a much more professional and polite experience. Redemption Points: They were VERY accommodating and communicative when it came to the rain plan. The mansion has gorgeous historic charm that offers versatility of indoor and outdoor entertaining areas. On top of that, the Chef and his kitchen staff create the most amazing food. After our tasting we had a hard time deciding what to serve because everything was so good! Our guests raved about the beauty of Ceresville, the delicious food, and the great service from the entire staff. Robbie and Vikki were our day-of coordinators and they were a fabulous team to work with. Special thanks to Heather who made sure that we were taken care of throughout our event. Last but not least, Stephanie was undeniably amazing to work with. She was super friendly and very responsive throughout the planning process. She was always accessible to help with on-site planning and handled our changes and curve balls that came along with the wedding planning process. Melissa Hmelnicky(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-12-2017 The first best decision that we made when it came to our New Year’s Eve wedding was having it at Ceresville Mansion - my wife and I cannot endorse this venue enough. If you are considering Ceresville, do yourself a huge favor and book. It will be the best gift you give yourself and all of your guests. Not even a week after our wedding, and we have heard from countless people that our wedding is the best they have ever been to and that the food (served buffet style) ranks at the very top. These are high compliments from seasoned wedding-goers and foodies. Most of that praise should go directly to Ceresville and its staff. Ceresville is gorgeous and accommodating - they made it possible for us to stick to a very reasonable budget for space, food, and drink without seeming like we spared any expense. As an all-inclusive venue, they boast a beautiful house and grounds; onsite mouth-watering catering and well-stocked bar; in-house furniture, linens, centerpieces, etc. - plus at the holidays, it is spectacularly decorated. They also provide you with a wedding coordinator to walk through the planning process; a day-of coordinator; and on the wedding day, a staff member is personally assigned to the marrying couple to be sure you have everything you need at any given time. All of these elements added up to give us a wedding we could not have dreamed of without Ceresville and our personal wedding team lead by the incomparable Stephanie Lindsey. Stephanie consistently went above and beyond; she is also just a delightful person who we genuinely enjoyed getting to know. In addition, we were lucky to have Jessica and Jane as our day-of coordinator and bride-shadow. They went equally above and beyond to make sure we were thrilled with our wedding. That was a theme: everyone at Ceresville deeply wishes for you to have the wedding of your dreams and will do everything to make sure that you get just that. And we had a wedding that went beyond our dreams all thanks to Ceresville. We are eternally grateful. Reviewed on 05-02-2018
Emily Donaldson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-11-2017 We were recently married at Ceresville Mansion and I can't imagine a better venue. I fell in love when we visited and the mansion was absolutely gorgeous. I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to afford the venue at all. We had a Friday wedding in November. We worked with Kate whom my sister recommended from planning past corporate events and she was the best. She looked out for us to help us along and make sure we were on schedule with all of our planning needs. She also helped out by recommending affordable and talented vendors including our DJ, Cake Baker, and flowers. When my photographer fell through two months before the wedding she was able to suggest several excellent alternatives. In the days leading up to the wedding I felt at ease and confident that everything would do according to plan because I knew Kate and her team at Ceresville were on it. They took care of everything we asked for, and all of the things we didn't know we needed as well. The wedding itself was beautiful and so much fun. We had our ceremony there and the timing of appetizers and cocktails directly after was much appreciated by our guests. Our meal was delicious and again the timing and professionalism with which it was served were great. I cannot recommend this venue enough. Reviewed on 18-12-2017

It helped us do the one thing I was 100% convinced we'd be unable to do the day of: sit back, relax, and enjoy our day. Lauren Kuta(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-07-2017 We really could not have been happier with Ceresville for our 7/9 Sunday morning wedding. From the very first day we met with Ceresville staff, we were treated with respect and all of our questions, no matter how small, were answered. We are a lesbian couple and they were super-supportive of this—it never felt awkward or forced. The cost at first seems high, but compared to what you get in return it was incredibly reasonable. We had a small wedding, with about 60 guests, and instead of forcing us to pay for a minimum number of people, Ceresville gave us a minimum amount we had to hit—so we picked really nice main courses, added a sundae bar, etc, and that got us there. Another thing we liked was the “inclusiveness” of the cost. The price of Ceresville included things like tables, chairs, linens, cake stand, plates and silverware. Other places required you to bring or rent your own of these things—can you imagine having to wash 60+ dishes the night after your wedding?? Or carrying that home in your car? We couldn’t. The expense of these items adds up! On the day of, we never wanted for anything. Before we could express a need, someone from the staff was there offering assistance. All of our personal items were set up while we got ready, with no help needed from either of us. The ceremony was held on site, on the patio, and Ceresville coordinated with our DJ and officiant in an expert manor to make sure things went very smoothly. Our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the beauty of the venue, the taste of the food and the efficiency and kindness of the staff. At the end of the reception, my mother and sister-in-law were impressed because Ceresville had basically already packed up all of our things and the staff carried them to the car for them, so most of our immediate family was on the road only 20 minutes after us! It really couldn’t have been a more perfect day, and if we could give more than five stars to this fantastic venue, and it’s wonderful staff—especially Stephanie, our wedding planner, and Jessica, our day-of coordinator—we totally would. We decided on a Sunday wedding one day shy of our first anniversary (silly leap-year!) and Stephanie put a soft hold on our date before we even put down a deposit, since she knew it was special to us. Stephanie was amazing to work with, answering every email promptly and meeting with us whenever we needed. I would call Jenni on a very regular basis to get her opinions or to have her send me pictures of random things around the mansion. It was important to me that I paid attention to all of the little details and to ensure that everything would match and look picture perfect! Whether I wanted to see plates, tablecloths, napkins or cake stands, Jenni was more than happy to personally get a picture and send it my way. Having planned weddings for years, Jenni was a great resource for information and guidance! Jenni made me feel like I was the only bride planning a wedding that year! I felt valued, appreciated and like she genuinely cared about me. Hands down my wedding day was a success because of the hard work and dedication that Jenni offered to me throughout the year. On the day of my wedding, we worked with Robby and he was just as great. I showed up with my bridesmaids and he welcomed us with a glass of champagne and a warm hug hello! After settling in I realized I had forgotten to brush my teeth!! Eeek! No problem, Robby opens a drawer and hands me a packet of toothbrushes! I cannot count the times he rescued me that evening! From searching for my lost garter, to helping to set up the mansion with my countless knickknacks, to locating the lost petals for the flower girl baskets, he put out one flame after the other, with a smile on his face, ensuring my day went smooth and was everything that I had envisioned. Kerry G(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-09-2013 I don't even know where to begin in praising Ceresville Mansion for how beautiful of a venue it is, how wonderful all of its staff members are, and for how incredible the food was. I found Ceresville in a search on this site and was immediately struck by all of the fantastic reviews it received. From the moment we arrived at the Mansion last September to tour it, I have had nothing but wonderful experiences. We were immediately greeted by Chef Tom, and were directed to where we were to meet our wedding coordinator Jess. We knew at that initial meeting that we were going to have our wedding there. We had toured countless other venues, and no other place quite compared to Ceresville with the quality of service received for the cost, the warmth and sincere personal interest the staff seem to take for your wedding, and for how beautiful the venue is. Throughout the entire planning process, I was in constant contact with my coordinator Jess. She always returned emails within a few hours (literally!) and was always more than willing to go above and beyond to help me in my planning (e.g., she emailed me photos of the votive candles that the Mansion supplies so that I could compare them to what my florist was considering on bringing). I also was in contact with Jess on several occasions to alter our initial contract, and all of the changes were accommodated with no issue! For example, we requested to move our ceremony time up by half an hour so that we would have more daylight for photos, we requested to extend the open bar for an extra hour but not do the super premium bar package that automatically comes with the Saturday evening wedding package, we requested a bowl of crab dip to be provided to the wedding party at the beginning of cocktail hour so that we could eat some before we went outside for photos, and we requested to be allowed early access (3.5 hours early) to the Mansion so that my bridesmaids and I could get hair and makeup done there. On the day of the rehearsal, I met my day-of wedding coordinator Jen, who ensured that we were where we supposed to be at all times. She was absolutely wonderful!! Finally, on the wedding day itself, I can say with utmost confidence that EVERY single staff member at the Mansion helped to ensure that I had the fairy tale wedding of my dreams. Whenever I needed something (a drink, help with re-bustling my train on my dress), there was a staff member within earshot to assist. They even helped my Maid of Honor and parents pack up our car so that when we left for the night all of our stuff was already in the car and ready to go. I would 100 percent recommend this venue to any bride who wants to have a minimal stress wedding planning experience. I could not imagine having my wedding anywhere else, and can only hope that I have some other large event or party to host in the future that I can have at the Mansion because it was truly that wonderful!! I didn’t even use a wedding planner because with Alison Lynn's help I was able to plan every detail to a T. and every step was executed perfectly the day of. The food was excellent, the service was amazing and everyone enjoyed themselves young and old. My husband was military then so we used the military package which was everything anyone could need as far as value is concerned. Our guests LOVED it, because there was plenty of room to roam and mingle, and their non-professional pictures were stunning simply because the grounds are impeccable. Having the upstairs retreat area for the bridal party was actually more important that I had expected - it's amazing how tired and overwhelmed you can become and the space to catch your breath is a welcome relief. I was a bride who didn't really know how to plan a wedding at all, but our advisor, Jenni, made sure that everything was taken care of! At first I was stressed about planning our wedding, but with the help of Ceresville- there was no need to stress! We went through FABnet to pick our vendors which made it so simple to pick out vendors! Plus, we got upgrades through our vendors because we chose 3 vendors off the FABnet list! And the vendors we chose from there were all amazing. Literally, no complaints. So Ceresville steered us in the right direction! They even kept in contact with our vendors up until the wedding! On the day of our wedding, the weather wasn't the greatest. They said I could wait and see by a hour before the wedding if I wanted to have it inside our outside! How awesome is that? We ended up having it outside and the sun picked through right as the ceremony started! The food was amazing at Ceresville as well- hors d'oeuvres and entrees! If you want to put alot of work into your wedding, decorating, favors, colors, and all the extraneous details, you can do all that or you can make the basic decisions and have a very simple but elegant wedding that they can take care of for you. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. It was luxurious, completely. We had our wedding in early May, 2012 and the weather was perfect to have the ceremony outside by the pergola. We had our cocktail hour outside and then we went inside to the ballrooom for the reception. It was awesome. Everyone commented how it was the most elegant wedding they had ever attended. Their prices are very competitive with the major hotels and the effect of Ceresville is very homey but elegant. Hotels seem so public and sterile. You can call them or email them anytime and they will help you with any detail you need help with. If you plan an outdoor wedding they have a rain plan and they will wait until 15 minutes before the ceremony to see if the weather will clear up. If it won't, they move everything inside and set your wedding up in the ballroom. Then they quickly change it over while the guests attend the cocktail hour in the bar area and the two front roooms. It is a lovely place and we got lots of great comments about the location. My only complaint is that you do not get Jeni for your organizer. She made me feel it was all about the money and once she got it she did very little to help. Any scheduled event I went to I had to deal with another organizer because Jeni was always busy with what appeared to be a new couple plus Jeni had nothing to do with the wedding day itself. One thing to ask for is food left over for peopl who did not show up. I had five people no show and Ceresville kept the food and the money. The food is gourmet and so delicious, I can't even put into words how yummy all of the food was. Their prices are reasonable, as far as the costs of Weddings in the United States are concerned and our Bridal Stalker, Maureen, was the absolute best even though it was her first night being a Bridal Stalker! However, I am going to do for you what I wish someone would have done for us, it is the only thing that makes me mark this venue down and I really didn't want to but it not only left a bad taste in my mouth but motivated me to ensure I completed my review so that other Brides are more educated on things we learned the hard way. To ensure a smooth Wedding, from start to finish, make sure that you put in writing, in your contract, that you want to be reimbursed either financially or by way of plates of food being packed up to go, for all of the guest that RSVP they are coming but then are no shows. Also, ensure you write, in your contract, to be reimbursed financially for the cost of alcohol for all guest that RSVP they are coming but then are no shows, also write in your contract, to be reimbursed for children that RSVP as coming because you should not be being charged for them since they obviously will not be drinking alcohol (which we were charged. Finally, make sure that during your actual Wedding, you stay on top of the Ceresville staff like hawks, (or designate someone to do this like your Wedding planner or Maid Of Honor) the entire night, for the food you want packed up and the cake slices you want cut up on each tier of your cake and for all of the cake slices to be given out to all guest to take home the entire night of the Wedding because after we asked this be done, it was not and they actually packed us up the wrong cake and we did not notice until we were out of town on our Honeymoon. We paid nearly $1600.00 for a 4 tier cake so were not happy with their mix up or with receiving two uncut layers back. We'd actually typed up, on our final write up, for them to cut up all layers of the cake for guest to take home slices and they didn't do this which is why I said stay on them that entire night. Finally, be prepared for nickel and diming, bickering back and forth via emails (as if you are not customers who’d just paid them over $10,000.00 for your Wedding) and snide, sarcastic opinionated comments. I told them this and I'll repeat it here, none of us are perfect, mistakes happen so it's not about the mistakes but rather how you handle the mistakes you make. What we expected was a courteous apology and a prompt fix to the obvious mistakes they made. What we got however was nastiness and unprofessionalism before we FINALLY received a reimbursement to the plates they forgot to pack up. That was all they would reimburse us on and that took nearly two months after the Wedding to receive back. They would not reimburse us the amount we paid for the premium alcohol where there were no shows as well as children that obviously did not drink (but were included in our final alcohol count) and they denied to the bitter end having packed up the wrong cake for us although we have pictures, from the night of the event, proving that the cake we received was not the cake we paid $1600.00 for and the ca Reviewed on 15-01-2012

There's tons of free parking at the location and many hotels within 12 minutes.\rMy only critique is that they charge couples for menu tasting (around $45 per person). They do it in a group setting with other couples and cook the entire menu. If you want a one-on-one tasting, that's even more expensive! I have never heard of a single wedding location charging a couple who is spending thousands of dollars on their wedding, that charged a tasting fee on top. We just skipped it altogether and hoped for the best. It could have turned out terribly but luckily the food was great. Reviewed on 22-07-2011

The staff at the Ceresville did everything in their power to make this evening special. They set up all the special extras that personalize a wedding and made the veranda and reception room look like something out of a story book. The food was excellent. We heard from our guests that it was the best wedding food they ever had. From start to finish, the staff helped orchestrate and facilitate the evening. They had all sorts of extras. Need a safety pin? Got it. Need a curling iron? Had one. Groom missing a tuxedo shirt? Miraculously one appeared averting a near disaster! It was a joyous night and a great place for a wedding. Alexandra Addington(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-06-2011 We came to Ceresville in a panic, after being treated so poorly by our original wedding venue! They took us, without an appointment, and in the middle of another event and made us feel comfortable and welcome. This is when we KNEW we would be getting married at Ceresville. The staff is all extremely helpful and professional, the terrace is GORGEOUS, and my entire wedding went flawlessly (or if there were flaws, they made SURE I didn't know about them!) We had a brunch wedding on a Saturday morning and are STILL hearing from our guests about how wonderful the food was. We are so happy we decided to stop in to Ceresville that day. We have been married for a month and wouldn't change a thing about our wedding at Ceresville! BIG thanks to Stephanie and her team for the best day of our lives! Reviewed on 13-07-2011

Heather Di Prima(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-03-2011 We went to Ceresville with high expectations- their website was very impressive. We were planning an early spring wedding, and were dismayed to discover how close to the highways the mansion actually sat. With minimal foliage, the view at the outdoor ceremony would be poor, and the noise of traffic unmuffled. The mansion also had a rundown look in person, and the pricing was higher then the other locations we were considering, even with the off-season/off-day specials. It wouldn't have worked for us. pamela race(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-07-2010 Ceresville Mansion was absolutely incredible in every way! We worked with Jenni (from the video!), and she was the calmest, most easygoing, flexible person ever. Nothing was a problem, everything I asked, even my silliest questions, were answered with a smile. The food was to die for, and she literally said to me, \"We want to make sure that you come in here on your wedding day and don't have to think.\" And it was so true! I didn't worry about anything! One thing I didn't know about was my 'bridal stalker' - they actually have a staff member always nearby the bride (within calling/gesturing distance, at least!), just to cater to anything I asked for! Star treatment, all the way. Reviewed on 20-02-2011

Everyone at our wedding was so impressed by how nice the mansion was and how nice our wedding was. It rained the day of our wedding and everyone was so great to watch the radar to try to give us our outdoor wedding we had hoped for. In the end, we had the option of indoor or outdoor but everyone at Ceresville had done such a beautiful job setting up we decided to stay inside. I worked with Alison and she is one amazing lady. She worked out a dessert bar for me when my bakery fell through, printed my vows and delivered them to both myself and my husband, comforted me when I was having a near heart attack, and did everything she could to make my day go smoothly. The venue is breathtaking, but the service is what tops it off so well. The food was AMAZING, my guests loved everything. They catered to the vegans, the vegetarians, the gluten-free, the lactose-free...everyone. The desserts were divine and gorgeous. The reception was set up beautifully. I was open to my venue and had visited at least 5 different places and then found Ceresville Mansion. I knew as soon as I saw that pergola outside, it was the place. I could see myself walking down the isle and imagine my family and friends partying the night away. My now husband loved the fact that they have a groom's room for him and his party to get ready. I liked that there were 2 bridal rooms so i could have a moment to myself before everything began. My bridal attendant through Ceresville turned out to be invaluable.
