Charleston’s only harbor front resort is located on Patriot’s Point in Mt. Pleasant. The resort offers a full service marina, golf, pool, private beach, two restaurants, and event space with views of Charleston Harbor. Whatever season, we can design the perfect setting and event tailored to your dreams.
The reception itself was fine, it could have been very good except for a couple of issues, which Georgia was kind enough tofind an acceptable solution when alerted to the problems that had happened. However if your thinking about staying at the resort itself, just don't! This is going to be long but do yourself a favor and read it.I spoke with a manager before checking out of our 2-night stay at this resort. He said this would be remedied but I am very displeased with the compensation. They seriously thought knocking off $96 of a $800 bill was acceptable! When they were emailed after again with the photos their reply was \"this wasn't the normal standard for them and they hope to do better next time\". As if I'd spend money there again! My daughter had her wedding there on the first of October and we had a 15 room blocked for our guests of which all were filled. There was very little that was ok about any of it. The rooms of all our guests were shabby and many had serious issues with their rooms such as lack of hot water and elderly guests being locked out of their room after having to move their room because they couldn't get the bathroom door open in the original room. I had many complaints from our guests that the bathroom doors were extremely difficult to open and no hot water. For the water issue they were told to run both the sink and the shower at the same time! Our room (308) was by far the worst. Others I showed the photos of our room gasped. Both bathroom shelves were severely damaged. Most surfaces in the room were chipped and damaged, the bathroom door very hard to open and close, the room door had appeared to have been broken into at one point and not repaired. The bathroom door was absolutely disgusting, dirty, chipped and I don't even know how to describe the one portion but you can see for yourself in the photo. And the floor of the bathroom and the side of the tub were filthy. There were also large black scuffs on the blue wall. I had no time to deal with our room situation as there were many other issues that needed to be addressed there other than my comfort level during our daughters wedding. Why a resort that bills itself as a luxury resort with luxury resort prices cannot even keep the rooms up with simple maintenance and cleaning is beyond me. And then to insult the person that spent this kind of money and encouraged others to stay there was just horrific. Our stay in the Holiday Inn Express was miles above this place in terms of cleanliness and service! Reviewed on 10-11-2023

Charleston Harbor Resort is beautiful! They made having our wedding here such an amazing experience. The hotel room we stayed in was one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed in and every venue we booked was stunning. We had a beach wedding at sunset and it was timed out perfectly to match the sunset bathing us in golden light. The reception was at the yacht club and bridge bar which was beautiful! My favorite part was watching the sunset over the harbor through the large windows! We had so much fun! Reviewed on 09-09-2023

We held our wedding at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina on May 13th of this year. As a couple planning a destination wedding, we originally selected CHR&M due to the beautiful scenery, relatively inclusive venue (catering, most rentals, etc.), and the convenience of staying on-site for our many out-of-town guests. We ended up having an absolutely fabulous experience with CHR&M and a perfect wedding day. Georgia, the Director of Catering & Conference Services at CHR&M was responsive, professional, and accommodating throughout the entire planning process, and worked seamlessly with our full-time planner from Ash Events. We chose to hold our ceremony at the Harborside Beach and our reception in the Pavilion – Both were stunning on the day of our event. One thing my husband and I really valued was having excellent food at our wedding and we were so excited about the catering offerings at CHR&M. The menu was so great that we struggled to choose a limited number of items for our tasting! Our tasting experience with Georgia and the catering team was top notch. They took notes on all the changes we wanted made to the meals (more sauce here, cook on steaks, etc.) and executed the night of our wedding – The food was just as we remembered it. Not only was Georgia awesome, but the staff on our wedding day were great! We chose a plated meal and they were quick at getting food out and taking care of our guests. The two bartenders were especially phenomenal – They kept the drinks flowing all night with little to no wait for our guests and were so fun! I also want to mention that we booked a small block of rooms at the hotel (we did a small block because you have to 100% guarantee the block as the couple) for our guests and stayed ourselves at The Beach Club the nights before and following our wedding (they comp your room the night of your event!). Jessica, the sales associate, was helpful in tracking the fill of these rooms and was always there to answer any questions we had. Our room at The Beach Club served as the bridal suite the morning of the wedding and worked out perfectly. Our guests were so impressed with their rooms, the venue, staff, food, and overall coordination of our day. All-in-all, our wedding day was a dream come true because of Georgia, CHR&M, and the amazing staff! Reviewed on 27-07-2023

Let me begin by saying the Pier and Pavilion where we held our wedding, and Georgia (the venue coordinator) were outstanding, but this \"resort\"......probably the worst resort I've ever stayed at.Georgia answered every single question I had during the planning process within a timely manner, and was so friendly and accommodating when we needed to make adjustments for our budget. From a venue perspective the wedding ran very smooth other than a few complaints from guests and other vendors that the wait staff were rude. We had 1 of our hotel blocks at CHRM and leading up to the wedding weekend it was great. Jessica (the group sales associate) was so helpful and detailed and on top of things. Unfortunately when the wedding weekend came everything went downhill. When I arrived to check in, the 2 guys working the front desk were very rude. They could barely figure out how to check us in and rolling their eyes and acted like it was an inconvenience...news flash this is your job. Later when my parents and other guests arrived they received the same treatment and I was personally told this at my wedding the next day which was quite embarrassing. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Fish House on the property which was great, highly recommend for your rehearsal, they were so friendly and food was amazing. However during our rehearsal, my 88 year old blind grandmother was trying to check in and they were told the hotel didn't have any handicap accessible rooms available. Even though on our room block listing that I was sent the week of the wedding, it showed a handicap code with her room. The rude front desk workers told her another wedding party had priority and there was nothing they could do (which doesn't make sense because we booked this as far in advance as you could). Finally my mom had to leave the rehearsal dinner to help sort it out, and in the end they upgraded to her a handicap room at the Beach Club....but the whole reason she booked a room was to be close to family since she's BLIND and 88 year old and she was no longer close to family in the other hotel on property. The last straw in all of this was that my parents room, the people who are spending thousands of dollars at this resort for the weekend, did not have any hot water to shower. My mom had to go around and use other family members showers for the weekend (including mine ON MY WEDDING NIGHT) and my dad just sucked it up and took a cold shower. Apparently maintenance showed up the next day and said you just need to let it heat up, but he took a 10 minute cold shower....it never warmed up. My bridal suite and my husbands grooms suite were both great with no issues but the other issues really just tainted my whole view of this \"resort\". For the amount of money that you spend to stay there, I would not call it a resort. Reviewed on 20-06-2023
Andrea Van Zile(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-06-2022 For the record, the resort is beautiful and Jaime Thayer, the resort coordinator, was lovely, but I have never been treated so poorly by hotel staff in my life. Especially when you're paying nearly $800/night. My wedding location was dirty. My wedding was in on the beach portion of the resort and when we went down for the rehearsal, there was glass, actual rusty NAILS, and other debris in the sand. My niece had to try to track someone down to clean the sand. There is absolutely no privacy on the beach. Your wedding will take place next to a busy bar with a patio and the hotel pool. The front desk staff was the worst I've ever experienced. I was checking in and told the staff I was there for my wedding weekend and the response was, \"um, let me see, I think you're right.\" It only went down hill from there. We were unable to get water, as in the lobby water dispenser was empty and the staff would not give us bottled water or fill the dispenser. It's hot down there! I and my wedding party were treated like a complete inconvenience. When I came down in my wedding gown with my mother, they said they would get a go-cart to the beach... we waited so long I was almost late to my ceremony. We ended up just walking! My job is also client-facing and I would lose business for certain if I treated people this way. Additionally, the bride and groom receive a complimentary night at the hotel on their wedding day. We stayed at the beach club and booked our room for several additional full-price nights, the same as several of our guests, and the room we were given was small and smelled strange while our guests were in corner units with an amazing view. We paid the exact same nightly rate... it feels like they would put the bride & groom in a special room especially when they're paying for several additional nights!Overall I was very disappointed with our experience at this resort. Dylan Delong(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-08-2020 Kaitlyn Hoehn and the Charleston Harbor staff were fantastic! Seriously, look no further for a reception venue in Charleston. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Charleston Harbor Fish House in the Harbor Room with personalized menus. Then, we had our reception at the resort's Yacht Club and Bridge Bar, and we had a total 13 rooms booked for 2-3 nights on a wedding block at the resort. The space was fantastic, the views of Charleston were second to none, and the staff were amazing. Kaitlyn is by far the best resort wedding events manager we've heard of. She's really on top of every question you could ever send her way, and her knowledge and experience shows. We originally had our wedding planned for May 30th at the Pavilion at Charleston Harbor, then COVID-19 hit in the middle of planning. Her communication, planning, and organization were greatly appreciated as the entire process for postponing and rescheduling the entire event were streamlined and straightforward (minimal stress). We ultimately transitioned our reception to August 15th in the Yacht Club and Bridge Bar (and so glad we did!). She also led all of the day-of activities with her staff, which was extremely helpful and she made the reception go through without a single hitch. Similarly, the banquet staff were fantastic. Servers were hardly noticed, but extremely accommodating. Bartenders were fun, skilled, and efficient. The food was absolutely fantastic (tastings was one of our favorite events); we ultimately had apps: lobster mac n cheese, caprese skewers, coconut shrimp w/ pineapple chutney and meals: ravioli with alfredo, crab cakes, and ny strip steak. In a heartbeat, I would recommend anyone getting married in Charleston to consider CHRM. We look forward to staying at the resort in the future for sure! Reviewed on 30-08-2020
Erin Thomas(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-11-2018 I was a bride who chose to book this venue. Since even before I booked this venue, it was difficult to even get a response from their wedding planner, Kaitlyn. I thought it was just a fluke but it wasn't. The entire wedding planning time, when I would send her an email, she would take weeks to respond (if she responded at all). I would have to continuously follow up with her to get questions answered. There were miscalculations in our bills throughout the process and overall the service from her was very VERY sub par. When I complained to her manager about it, even her manager/director brushed us off. It seems as if they were in denial and continued to say how Kaitlyn is \"great at her job\" and basically acted like I was just wrong. I am the type of person who never writes reviews or complains about service. In this case, I'm the customer and I'm telling the director that her staff is not great at her job and she won't even acknowledge what we are saying? That's bad service for someone who's dropping so much money on the biggest event of their life. The day of our wedding, I heard the service would be top notch from the CHRM wedding planner but it wasn't. I literally saw Kaitlyn twice the ENTIRE day/night. Once was when she passed the window while she was walking to another wedding on site (not even acknowledging me) and the second was when she came to the reception at the end of the night to ask if we wanted some food to go. \"Sure, we'll take food to go!\" until we realized there are no microwaves in our room. What are we supposed to do with a fridge full of food with no microwave? I've had several brides reach out to me since my wedding asking if the lack of communication from Kaitlyn was normal and I said yes. This is something they came up with on their own prior to reaching out to me. Unfortunately, the lack of communication form the CHRM wedding planner was the worst part of having a wedding there and it's a major concern. You have to be able to reach your wedding venue when you have a question and management there needs to realize that there is a big problem.Aside from the wedding venue's poor communication, there was also a lot of issues with the front desk telling my guests that our block was full when it wasn't, giving away our gift bags to wrong families who were in other weddings and even the great instance of my husband, the GROOM got kicked out of the Reel bar the day of our wedding for bringing a salad into the Reel bar while our friends were buying drinks. First off, we are spending a TON of money to host our wedding there and bringing a TON of guests onto the resort. If the Reel bar doesn't sell food and the GROOM is eating a salad with his best man who's with other paid customers drinking from the bar, what is the problem? the groom got literally yelled at and kicked out of the bar. How embarrassing and wrong. The only positives about having a wedding here. First, the room they put us in was gorgeous, the spa director (Tiffany) was amazing and super friendly and helpful throughout the entire weekend and the location in Charleston was breathtaking. To sum up my post, if you're going to have a wedding here, do it, but ONLY IF you hire your own FULL SERVICE wedding planner on the side. Reviewed on 30-06-2019

We also went with Reynolds Treasures as our wedding coordinator. Andrea and Christina did an excellent job making the wedding planning process much less stressful. Everyone had an amazing time and danced the night away in the sand and under the stars! We had our \"welcome party\" for friends and family who traveled from out of town at the Fish House up stairs Bridge bar. It had a beautiful view of the bridge and the cocktail hour and hors doeuvres were wonderful. The ceremony was also held on the beach near the pier and was setup and positioned beautifully with the Harbor and Down town as the back setting. The beach area was perfect, it felt a little big at times as we only had 70 guests but gave people room to roam and explore the beach area and its amazing views. We had perfect weather in early April and couldn't have asked for a more amazing sunset. Cocktail hour was wonderful we had a special Bride and Groom's drink that the resort helped to accommodate for us. The passed Hors Doeuvres we very tasty we went with the mini crab cakes, mozzarella and tomato skewers, Shrimp cocktail, Hush puppies, and the favorite was the pulled pork sliders! We had stations set up for dinner instead of a traditional sit down, we wanted everyone to be able to mingle and it worked perfectly. The food was wonderful, Shrimp and Grits were a huge hit. The Pasta Station was a favorite as well. We had Prime rib and Sweet Tea Pork Loin as a carving station which were both very good, the prime rib was a little rare however it was big cut of meat, some of the guests enjoyed that some did not. We had a Salad bar but due to its location not many guests did not know it was there. They tried to keep it out of sunlight but unfortunately it was hidden on the back side of the bar. Guests were notified later the salad bar was available. Other than those minor details the venue, setup, and food were perfect! There was a bit of confusion with the room billing at the end of the weekend, but overall it is a nice place to stay. Reviewed on 06-06-2013
Jan Gambardella(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-11-2012 I would not have had my dream wedding without the wedding coordinator and staff at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. Ashley is the wedding coordinator and she took care of EVERYTHING. We got an amazing deal on this prime venue and feel like it was a steal for everything it offered. Our entire wedding party and all our guest stayed at the resort as well which made everything easy and enjoyable. If I could do it all again I would 100%, no doubt, book my wedding at the Charleston Harbor Resort and hope to find more reasons to have events there! Reviewed on 29-11-2012
Ashley Butler(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-07-2012 Ashley & the staff at CHRM were spectacular!!! They were very accomodating & made sure everything was just right for our big day. Ashley stayed with us through the entire thing, making sure it all went smoothly (down to pinning my dress up so the train would stop falling every time I danced). Additionally, the food was phenomenal - people are STILL raving about! As a bonus, the views are gorgeous!!!\r(The only reason I give 4 starts for Service is because they moved my room on the wedding day - to a smaller one - because someone had booked my suite for my wedding night.) Kristen Merritt(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2012 The venue is gorgeous and perfect for a fun casual beach wedding - my favorite part was dancing on the beach! But I would recommend heavily researching other beach options if that is what you are going for...or being dead set on this particular scenery because that is the only thing that will keep you sane when working with the resort/wedding coordinator. It is expensive and of course they try to squeeze every cent out of you unless you make them compromise. Then the coordinator doesn't seem to have any power or skill in regard making it a unique day for the bride that fits their needs and wishes. You will hear a lot of \"NOs\" (even for commonplace wedding practices like alcohol cutoffs) and will have to be extremely persistent / come up with your own compromises that they can't deny. If you have plenty of time I would get a lot of the fine details in writing and signed before even booking the venue. To sum it up...beautiful and unique venue but not hassle free, so you have to be either careless with unlimited funds or quite argumentative to get what you want! Reviewed on 09-07-2012
Caroline Pollard(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-05-2012 CHR&M is gorgeous. I wanted a beach wedding but because SC has public beaches, it was going to be hard with people walking around during the ceremony.I got the best of both worlds at CHR&M because they are on the harbor but have a sand beach with a pier, and it was private. Their wedding coordinator, Ashley, was very nice, if not a little overwhelmed with our wedding. Awesome customer service, they provided a complimentary night's stay with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and doggie bags for us after the wedding of our wedding food. VERY helpful staff, and we had an amazing wedding experience. Expensive, but it's Charleston. Reviewed on 24-05-2012
Sabrina Zahniser(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-10-2011 We had our ceremony on the lawn and the reception on the Sunrise Terrace at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina located near Patriot's Point. The view at this resort is priceless!! We opted to have our wedding on a Sunday, which cut costs drastically. The rental fees included the dinnerware, tables, chairs, and basic linens. My guests loved the location! Our early encounters with the resort started off a little rocky since they changed wedding coordinators in the middle of it. (On a side note, after speaking with other wedding professionals and following the resort on Facebook….it does seem they have a high turnover in banquet/management staff). Ashley Nguyen was kind of thrown in to our wedding and there were previous details discussed with the previous wedding coordinator on staff there. Luckily, I had saved all the email correspondence and Ashley and I eventually got the details all worked out. It does seem that the resort will try to include numerous hidden charges after the contract is signed, so I recommend being extra diligent when ironing out the contract details. One issue we had been with our room block. Our rooms were originally described to us as Run of the House, which we were told was whatever guests preferred (view, bed, etc). However, many of my guests encountered problems at time of booking and were told of numerous upcharge fees and limited room options. Ashley and I worked this out prior to the wedding weekend and all of my guests got the rooms they preferred, but if we had a large block of rooms it would have been impossible to coordinate each one. The day of the wedding Ashley was amazing! She was one step ahead of everyone and had every detail under control. I was so impressed with her that entire day! She was there to help coordinate the ceremony and to assist me for anything we needed. She set up my candy buffet, revamped our centerpieces due to high winds, was there to take my veil off, made the dinner plates from the buffet for my husband and me, and even followed me to the bathroom and was handing me paper towels to clean the icing off after the cake smearing. My entire bridal party and immediate family members were so pleased with Ashley! Reviewed on 27-02-2012
Jennifer Goodman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-09-2011 We could not have picked a more perfect location for our Labor Day weekend wedding. Most guests traveled, so it turned out to be a weekend of fun and celebration. Our guests raved about the resort and how great the rooms and service were. Their wedding planner, Ashley, was incredibly helpful and responsive in helping us with the planning and execution of everything. Would recommend to anyone! Reviewed on 28-09-2011
Rachel Zoller(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-06-2011 The resort was amazing. Very helpful when it came to food, beverage, setup, cleanup and schedule during the event. The only flaw was the wedding coordinator was a little flustered on the day of the wedding because we were off schedule. She made me, the bride, feel rushed during pictures, but she was very helpful the rest of the night. We had the ceremony on the beach and the reception on the outdoor covered patio. The site is just amazing. It is beautiful with stunning views of downtown Charleston. The resort is very unique, kid-friendly and clean. I would go back there any time and I would recommend this venue. Reviewed on 07-07-2011

Sara Barnes(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-10-2009 I grew up in Mt. Pleasant and when I got married I had always imagined it on the beach, unfortunetly they no longer allow anyone to \"conduct business\" on the beaches, which made my wedding at Isle Of Palms no longer possible. \r\rI started googling everything I could think of and looking for ANY way that I could be barefoot in the sand at my wedding :)\r\rI came across The Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina which is a BEAUTIFUL hotel and they happened to have an man-made beach that isn't on the water so you don't have to worry about the tide schedule but can still have the sites, sounds, and view of the ocean!!\r\rIt was amazing. The staff was really nice, gave each bridal party a huge banquet room to get ready in. So we rented old black Charleston benches from Snyder, kicked our shoes off and had an amazing wedding outside in the sand!!!! Reviewed on 01-07-2010
Alida Kuhn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-05-2007 The reception venue enabled us to be outside, where the main terrace area was under a roof in case of rain. There was enough space to have a separate dancing area outside as well as a beautifully landscaped beach area for guests to stroll around. Our reception venue (the terrace) was also within walking distance of the pier overlooking Charleston's battery. Our ceremony was held on the pier. Everything was very casual, yet elegant due to the venue.;We seemed to have a lot of back and forth about pricing for our menu and other costs associated with the sites we utilized for our wedding day. It took the staff at this hotel over one month to present us with the final FB&B bill, which we found unacceptable. Reviewed on 01-10-2007
