Chauncey Hotel & Laurie House Garden Pavilion Reviews

Lovely venue in Princeton, NJ. It is a hotel part of a business complex but once you get there, you would have no idea. There are lovely grassy fields and a lake and beautiful trees. So many photo opportunities! Low stress was my motto so I loved that it was a hotel where you didn’t have to worry about transportation. They also took care of all the catering, open bar etc. Beautiful outdoor ceremony in front of gazebo, lake and then we had our cocktail hour inside and reception under a beautiful tent with stringed lights. There is even the Laurie house, a small cute house on-premises, where you can rent it out for the day prior and night of so that your bridal party can all be together. This is a great option for Saturday night weddings but we got married on a Friday so didn’t do this. The price is extremely reasonable and I would definitely recommend. They have a per-person price that is super reasonable- especially if you went for the buffet. We went with plated meals. The only thing is that the cocktail hour would be very limited with just the base price as it would just have a vegetable platter and 6 walking appetizers coming around. We added 3 other stations to our happy hour and also added a fire pit. But even at the end of the day, I still think it was overall reasonable. The day of the wedding, everything was flawless. Amanda was overseeing everything and was very helpful. We got lots of compliments on the food and the service was great. We had a server that frequently checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed and our drinks were always topped up. The only reason I deducted a point was that there was a new person being trained and so there were some miscommunications and I believe unneccessary stress associated with that. But I would get married there again in a heartbeat. Reviewed on 21-01-2024

Chauncey was the perfect wedding venue! We wanted to have hotel on site for our guests and Chauncey had it and everything we wanted plus more. We worked with both Amanda and Maria and both of them have great knowledge of the whole wedding industry but also were willing to change things so that it fit what we wanted. In the months leading up to our wedding I did have to keep on top of them to get answers to questions and payments completed. They always responded but it would take a few days. As we got closer they became quicker to respond and I had some great planning conversations with them both. Our wedding was in July and all outdoors, so we were worried about the heat but they set up fans and the grounds were absolutely gorgeous. We had the plated dinner with many add ons, the s’mores bar, the candy bar, and the late night snack. I heard from many of my guests that the food was great and that it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to! Reviewed on 16-12-2023

Chauncey is a great venue for value for money. You get a lot compared to other venues for the price. HOWEVER, please expect that you will need to be very on top of everything. Chauncey will not keep track of anything for you. I had to remind them when payments were due, and it took months to get the contract sorted when we first signed on. Amanda is very unresponsive. Maria joined partway through our wedding and she was more responsive, so it's good that she is taking over. We ordered candles and easels and we're later told that Chauncey provides votives and easels, as well as cake cutting set, and more, so we could have saved some of our money if Chauncey was up front with what they provide. Please note: we weren't expecting Chauncey to do any real wedding planning, but expected to get an email response to simple questions within three weeks!!Surprisingly, the day-of communication and coordination was top notch. Everything went smoothly and our guests were raving about the venue. Food was great and the staff were a step above. If you don't mind steering the planning portion of the wedding, this could be a great venue for you. In the end, we were happy we picked it, but frustrated by the planning experience. Chauncey was the perfect place for us an our wedding. I wanted a fall wedding and the entire property is so beautiful! Amanda, our Wedding coordinator made everything fall into place perfectly. There was even a moment where we couldn't find my Dad's tie (we did!) and she was going to go to Target and get one for us like an hour before the wedding. They are on top of their timelines and really make sure the day is about you and how you want it. The food is good, the drinks are great, and the hotel was really nice. We had a Sunday wedding so we were in the Hotel rather than the Laurie House and we had an amazing time. So glad we found them and they made our wedding wishes come true! Reviewed on 27-10-2023

10/10. Chauncey was a PERFECT venue. One of the selling points for us was that everything is in one place. Rehearsal dinner, bridal house, hotel, ceremony, reception, after party. No one has to worry about driving anywhere the whole weekend. It was also great venue because everything is included - food, linens, cake, etc. Some issues in the beginning due to a change of hands in coordinators but ultimately Amanda was phenomenal and helped everything run smoothly. They helped put together all our decorations to make it EXACTLY what we wanted. Food was great as well. And I mean those trees and leaves for a fall wedding are just *chefs kiss* Reviewed on 14-10-2023

This venue was everything we could have asked for and more! The grounds are so beautiful and when we got married in September, everything was in bloom! Our coordinator said September is her favorite month at this venue, it always looks beautiful! We had a run in with some rain the day of and had to move the ceremony under the tent and the cocktail hour inside but it totally looked like we had planned it that way from the start! Everyone did a beautiful job of making it look just as good as it would have outside and getting married under the tent with the twinkle lights and candles felt so romantic! We stayed at the Laurie house on site and the wedding party got ready there the morning of. It was perfect for us as we had a big group and knew we needed more than a suite! Having the hotel on site was such a bonus for us and our guests, no one had to worry about driving and we didn’t need to factor in transportation! This venue has it all for such a reasonable price and would 100% recommend it to anyone! Reviewed on 23-09-2023

I feel like this venue is somewhat of a hidden gem! But we and our guests were very impressed by the whole experience. We were looking for a venue that included as much as possible so that we could cut out having many outside vendors, and the Chauncey had the perfect outdoor rustic-ish meets modern vibes on a beautiful property that was large, quiet, and felt tucked away in a private area despite being in Princeton. They offer buffet or plated dinner, each comes with a cocktail hour and 5 hour open bar. They have a contract with Cramer’s Bakery from PA so the cake is also included unless you add any extra fillings/etc. For us, with only 80 guests, we kept running into an issue of not meeting the minimum guest count, but that was another benefit of Chauncey, they go by a food and beverage minimum that varies based on day of the week, so we just added extra stations to cocktail hour, some more desserts and a firepit with smores to make the difference. We paid $117 pp. for a plated dinner, and everyone raved about the food! The hotel rooms are fairly run of the mill, but they offer complimentary breakfast that was very good as well. The groom & his boys were in more generic rooms to get ready and none of their rooms had mini fridges, while the bridal suite had one. They also offer a private house for renting in the back of the hotel, but it is much more costly than the hotel room and books up quickly for weddings on weekends. Our point of contact at Chauncey was Amanda, and she was very helpful and kind, albeit a bit difficult to get in touch with in the months leading up to the wedding. Overall, we did not run into any major issues at all and would highly recommend this venue.Photograp Reviewed on 30-06-2023
Colleen Ferry(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-08-2022 Chauncey Hotel and Conference Center is the perfect place for a wedding! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the tent is the perfect place for a reception. Having everything, including the hotel, on site made everything easy for our guests. The food was outstanding and the staff were very professional, kind, and accommodating. Amanda was the best coordinator - answering all of our (probably) annoying questions and easing our nerves throughout all of our planning. We cannot say enough great things about her. Lastly, we highly recommend booking the Laurie House for your wedding. It’s the perfect place for the bride and groom, as well as the bridal party or close friends to stay. Channing Reeves(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-08-2023 We almost booked Chauncey as our wedding venue, but pulled out due to communication issues. For context, my fiancee and I live in Seattle and are planning our east coast wedding primarily through email and FaceTime tours, so communication is a priority to us. Unfortunately, our communications with Larissa left us feeling like we were not a priority. Larissa would often be out of the office and unable to respond to emails within 1-2 days (usually taking closer to 3-4 days and having to e-mail her twice). When we asked to have a meeting on the phone to talk about the most productive way to communicate moving forward, she was unapologetic for her delayed responses and suggested we continue sending her emails--not productive. Her responses consisted of monosyllabic answers and an unfriendly tone. Ultimately, it was a lack of communication and not feeling like a priority that drew us away from Chauncey. Stefanie James(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-05-2022 We had a great experience at Chauncey for our wedding. The food was excellent -- we had many compliments from our guests throughout the evening. The wait staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of, including bar tenders, and our personal attendant who was excellent. Amanda did a great job making sure the details were coordinated. We had to pull everything inside last minute due to terrible weather, but she let us wait until the very last minute that day to pull the trigger, knowing how much we wanted to have the event in the tent. There was a mix-up with the guest hotel rooms that weekend, but it got sorted out in the end. The indoor event ended up being beautiful, and we used the Cbar for our welcome event and after party -- very convenient! The Laurie House was a great addition as well. Having our family and bridal party there was perfect, we were all able to get ready and take some really nice pictures, especially since it poured all day and we couldn't get photos outside. I would recommend holding your wedding here! Reviewed on 22-05-2022
Danit Frydman(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-04-2023 We scheduled a tour with Amanda to see if we wanted to have our wedding there. She mentioned in the email that the hotel was closed (didn't mention why) but she will meet us at the lobby. When we got there there was no one there, I emailed Amanda but with no response, and she did not leave a phone number I could call in her email. We ended up calling the security number that was posted on the lobby door to see if there's anything they could do or know about that we don't, but they didn't have any phone number on file (so they were not able to even call someone else who can reach Amanda). After 30 minutes of waiting outside in the cold we decided we were leaving, and then got an email from Amanda saying she had a family emergency and lost track of time to cancel the tour, and that she was sorry she could not meet us. She did not even offer another time to tour the place. I don't know if there was an actual emergency or she just forgot, but either way we were incredibly frustrated and found this to be extremely unprofessional, we would never have business with this hotel. Especially when the hotel is closed and they still schedule tours, they should have had a managers phone number on file with the security company for situations like this. We drove down to Princeton from upstate NY early in the morning to see this place that we had high hopes for. Reviewed on 10-01-2022

The grounds are stunning, and the staff (especially Amanda) encouraged us to be creative in using all of the space available so we could spread out and enjoy the many scenic spots the Chauncey has to offer. From fire pits with s’mores, to corn hole, Connect 4, big jenga, and a DIY photo booth, as well as late night pork roll sandwiches, there were so many personal and unique additions to our reception, and Amanda perfectly supported and coordinated each component. Vanessa Miranda(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-06-2021 If you are a couple looking for an amazing space to hold your wedding event, I definitely recommend The Chauncey Hotel & Laurie House. When we booked our wedding in 2019 for a 2020 June wedding, we couldn’t be more excited. Unfortunately, Covid hit and we had to postpone our wedding reception. Thankfully, Amanda and her team were incredibly helpful and supportive as we had to make some difficult decisions/changes to our dream wedding. We were able to cancel the ceremony portion (we legally got married in 2020, our reception was on our one year anniversary), and Amanda was able to work out changes in cost due to having a handful of guests not quite comfortable coming to a larger event. During a portion of our time planning our wedding, Amanda took a role elsewhere, but continued to reach out and support us! Literally the only time I wasn’t happy with Chauncey was the small period of time without here there. I cannot stress how incredibly happy I was when I was told she would be back with Chauncey just in time for our 2021 reception! Our reception was under a large tent, and our cocktail hour was inside due to rainy weather. The food and drinks were incredible! The bar and waitstaff were AMAZING! We had so much fun with them! Amanda is a fellow Green Bay Packers fan and had our cheese station dressed up with little Green Bay flags - such a sweet surprise! Our bartender even wore a cheese head in honor of the bride! Amanda pulled everything together for us and made the weekend stress free! I felt very ill the morning of our wedding, and Amanda had someone run to get me ginger ale and medicine! She truly goes out of her way to make you feel important on your special day! Lastly, I highly, highly recommended renting the Laurie House out if it is available. Our bridal party and their guests stayed with us and all I can say is WOW! Amanda Lewis(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2019 I'm not sure where to even start but I will start off by saying save yourself an extreme amount of stress and inconvenience by selecting somewhere else for your wedding. I was planning my wedding from hundreds of miles away and had the most awful experience planning the wedding. The wedding coordinator, who had great reviews from other people, was awful! It would take weeks to hear back from her if I heard back at all. When I did hear back she didn't answer half of the questions so I'd have to send another email and wait another few weeks to hear back. When I tried to call I would be sent to her voicemail and would never hear back. On top of that, most of the requests that we had (like putting balloons at the entrances since the grounds are confusing to get around) we were told wasn't allowed. When we were going for the initial tour of the site, they were very misleading and changed their stories. Initially we were told that we were going to be the only event going on that day. Closer to the date when I wanted to book the round tables versus using the rectangle ones, I was told I couldn't use them because they were being use for another event. When it came to booking rooms is was a DISASTER. It took some guests an hour to even get a room booked, if anyone would answer the phone. There were multiple occasions when they booking department \"lost\" our wedding block. When it came time for the guests to check in, thankfully, all of the reservations were still there. When it came to the rooms, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable and you could hear everything your neighbors were doing. On the day of we had our ceremony outside and the reception inside. At the ceremony site, more than half of the guests chairs were soaked with water since no one had bothered to wipe them down. The aisle wasn't raked or blown either so leaves got caught in my veil and my dress the entire time. The wedding coordinator was there for the ceremony and didn't appear to have gotten into any contact with the photographer which caused us to miss out on family pictures. Communication with her for the morning of (information for the bridal party) wasn't passed on properly by her which caused a lot of confusion. They also don't have anywhere for the bridal party to get ready which caused problems for all of us. Thankfully my parents had booked a room the night before which some of us were able to use. I called the hotel multiple times the week of the wedding (since that's when I was told they would have answer) trying to see if we would be able to get into the complementary room a few hours early for the rest of us to get ready. I didn't get a solid yes or no answer until 3 hours before the ceremony started. For the reception, we worked with a different gentleman (who took the role as coordinator) and he was fantastic!!! Anything that we asked of him he did right away! He checked on us regularly throughout the night and made sure we had whether we needed. If he was the wedding coordinator for the entire planning process, this review would be completely different. When it came to the food, the cocktail hour food was fantastic! I'd highly recommend the lamb chop and pasta station. The main meal, however was a complete letdown. Most of the food came out cold and overcooked. If I would have known I would have filled up on appetizers. We did have a private waitress which was awesome! Reviewed on 23-12-2019

Shay Smith(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-04-2019 We were looking around the Knot and other websites, trying to find a low-key, reasonably-priced, but nice venue in the Princeton, NJ area, and came across Chauncey. It was the first place we visited, and after seeing several other venues, we immediately went back to Chauncey to book! We had our wedding on April 26, 2019, and are still in awe at how perfect our whole wedding weekend was! Their events coordinator, Amanda was fantastic from the beginning! She is so easy to work with, responsive, personable, confident, and super creative and organized. They have fantastic wedding packages at reasonable prices, and the hotel stays are clean, and very reasonably-priced as well. Amanda helped us stay organized throughout the whole planning process, we had a fun tasting menu session there, and then from the hotel stays in the main hotel, and the Laurie House - they were all great, through the end of wedding weekend - it was all just perfect. Every worker at Chauncey is friendly, approachable, and helpful. Then wedding day came, and it could not have gone more smoothly. We woke up to a text from Amanda asking if we needed coffee, she was available and directive all day -- coordinating setting up literally everything from the ceremony, to reception. We were originally supposed to have our ceremony outside on the lawn by the gazebo, but rain was in the forecast, so it was great to have a plan B of the ceremony being under the big tent on the lawn. HOWEVER, morning of the wedding came, and it started DOWNPOURING and lightning, and that meant we couldn't even have our ceremony under the tent. Amanda ended up coordinating our ceremony to be in an indoor space in a room that's not normally meant for wedding ceremonies, however - it was beautifully and creatively decorated by Amanda and team and honestly, we ended up being so happy it rained because the space inside ended up being so beautiful. Amanda took part in every detail, from adding flowers to our cake, to ensuring the ceremony was timed perfectly, to overall-just ensuring we had a truly MAGICAL wedding. It was better than we ever could've imagined, despite it raining, and us being on plan C of a ceremony location. If you want a fun, relaxed, and reasonably-priced wedding, we could not recommend Amanda and the Chauncey Hotel enough. Thank you so much Amanda, and everyone at Chauncey!! Reviewed on 09-09-2019
Jen Aremia(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-11-2018 This review is for my wedding on 11-9-18. From the first moment we walked into Chauncy we fell in love! Our tour was in the late spring or early summer & the grounds were beautiful! There were trees & grass as far as the eye could see! It had a very secluded & private feel to it, no other buildings in the way, no other spaces holding events - which is exactly what I was looking for. Amanda Puskar, (who was our go-to person from the first tour to the day of the wedding) was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! There are not enough kind words for her, truly. At times, I had felt like I paid for a professional wedding planner. The day of our tour her team was setting up for another wedding but we were never rushed. On our tour she took us through the indoor bar area & the space for cocktail hr., & explained how the space would be set up day of. She then took us to the Solomon Dining Rm (where our wedding took place) & the inner Conference Rm. After, she took us outside through the downstairs back entrance (through the bar). The floor to ceiling glass doors gave a stunning view of the grounds. We walked by the Laurie House (which was in use so understandably we couldn't go inside) & saw how the gazebo was set up for outdoor weddings because that is what her team was doing at the time. Once the tour was over she sat down with us (& the other couple on tour) & went through the brochure pg by pg. She made clear notes as to what was included, what was an upgrade, & answered any questions we had. Once the tour was done up we were allowed to walk the grounds ourselves. For the day of the wedding, I had a surprise groom cake & had to involve 3 of my vendors to make this work, one of them being Amanda. Every email, phone call & meeting was met with kindness, understanding & patience. Amanda is absolutely spectacular at what she does! She alone gets 5 Stars! ***WEDDING DAY*** I started the morning by going to the gym & unfortunately another person & myself had to wait a minute or two for an employee to open up the space. No big deal. The gym was small but nice - about 4 treadmills, mats for floor work, weights, towels, etc. Immediately after I went back to my RM & kicked my fiance out. We used my RM for the girls to get ready & the RM was huge with more than enough space for a hair stylist, make up artist, myself & three other girls as well as people coming in & out all morning. The one issue was that it was difficult to get coffee & we had a RM full of coffee drinkers. My sister went to get us some food & we picked on fresh fruit, cereal some toast & bacon. Personally I was too nervous/excited to have a bigger meal. I was fine eating light. Amanda stopped by my RM to let me know about one small issue with my welcome bags. Besides that, NO ISSUES! I will note the day of my wedding it rained, HARD. I cannot comment on the outdoor spaces or the grounds because we didn't get to use them. However; there is a huge/long awning outside so despite the rain we were able to enter the limo w/o getting wet. - - PART 2 TO FOLLOW Reviewed on 03-02-2019

Amanda really ran the show and I felt comfortable and confident with her doing so, which really relieved a lot of my stress. We received so many compliments from our vendors and guests about how beautiful the grounds were. We had our ceremony at the outdoor gazebo and our reception in the outdoor tent. It was such a whimsical, fairy tale vibe and I would choose this venue over again. The food and beverages were grade A. Dennis went above and beyond way after the wedding ended and got us some food after the kitchen had closed. We really can't say enough about the staff here, just really nice and hard working people. The only thing that was a stressor was months and weeks leading up to the wedding, as email communication was sometimes off and it was hard to get in contact with anyone. Other than that, top notch venue with amazing staff. Reviewed on 29-10-2018

Megan Teller(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-09-2018 Overall our wedding day was perfect. It was a beautiful day, the venue was perfect and the food was amazing. The day of our wedding was stress free and beautiful but leading up to it was memorable for a different reason. The 2 months leading up to the wedding were extremely frustrating. There were some major communication issues that caused a lot of unnecessary stress 3 days before our wedding. Emails were not received, sometimes attachments went through, sometimes they didn't, some things were explained others were not - it was all very confusing and frustrating. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Laurie House the night before (recommend doing - very low key and relaxing) and my Mother-in-law had the same communication issues with booking as well. Overall, it was a great day and a beautiful venue. Reviewed on 26-09-2018
Kim Domitrowski(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-09-2018 From our first visit through the wedding day, Amanda made wedding planning a breeze. She was available to answer all my stupid questions with a smile and a sense of humor. We received a discount for having our wedding on a holiday weekend which was great, but I probably would’ve paid top dollar to have my wedding here. It was beautiful, the rooms and grounds were immaculate, out every request was granted without question or hesitation. Amanda gave me her personal cell phone number the week of my wedding so that I could feel free to reach out with anything that came up at any time. All of the hotel staff was excited and attentive and ready for our guests and event. We rented the Laurie House for us and our wedding party which made getting ready a breeze. 1000x will recommend this venue until people get sick of hearing about it. We LOVED our Chauncey wedding and so did our guests. Reviewed on 16-09-2018

We had our reception under their tent, which was comfortable, spacious, and loved by all who attended. They worked with us to fit our modest budget, and the food was very good all around. Amanda, the catering and events manager, is absolutely fabulous. She was so attentive and made sure our day was perfect. The catering staff was also great. I had my friends and family come to me after to mention how well the catering staff treated them. Luckily for us, the weather was perfect so we were able to have our ceremony outside in the gazebo. It's a stunning location and perfect for pictures. I honestly could go on about how great this. It's also really reasonably priced compared toothed venues in the Princeton area. The food was delicious, the venue itself was gorgeous, and the Laurie House provided a homey and central area for all of the prep and morning-of festivities. Rose Lawyer(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-10-2016 My daughter was married at the Chauncey Oct 1st 2016. Our search for a venue began one year before. The moment my daughter and future husband viewed the Chauncey and it's beautiful grounds they knew this was going to be where they would marry. Immediately after our first inquiry Catherine (the wedding organizer) was very direct and honest about every question and concern we had. An outdoor wedding was planned at the gazebo on the property. The Wednesday before the wedding my husband and I met with Cathy. Due to weather it looked like our dream of an outdoor wedding would not be possible. The tent was agreed upon for back up. But by pleasant surprise Cathy suggested using the space in the gallery in front of the fireplace. The space was appropriate enough in size to accommodate our guest. It was a perfect suggestion by Cathy . The evening of the rehearsal the space was set up and the vision was more then we had expected. Cathy was right on task with organizing the ceremony like clock work. I felt very confident we were in good hands. The day of the wedding everything ran smoothly. We even got a break in the weather to have some amazing outdoor shots. The bride and groom had their first look at the gazebo. The ceremony was pure perfection. Classy and very intimate in the space in front of the fireplace. After the ceremony guest immediately enjoyed cocktail hour in the gallery. We also had some nice portraits in front of the fireplace with family.I also want to mention for a fee (well worth it) Cathy made sure gift table, seating chart table and guest book table were set to specification. One less thing to worry about and it gave me piece of mind. After cocktail hour guest made their way to the main room for dinner and dancing. It was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. Our server for our table Nadine( I hope I remembered her name correctly) was very nice and made sure all evening we were taken care of. Since this is a review I must be completely honest. The main course was served with carrots and asparagus both were very under cooked. And with a few of our guest including the bride are vegetarian the vegetarian entree was not as tasty as we hoped. A majority of the guest at my table had the beef dish and enjoyed it . We also had the choice of chicken but got no feedback from guest. The cake was amazing! Our guest had a wonderful time and we got nothing but positive feedback. I would also like to mention Jessica the reservation coordinator was wonderful about getting us in our rooms as soon as they were available. She was in constant contact with us through out the day we checked in. And also very accommodating for our out of town guest that drove 3 hours the day of the wedding. You need to keep in mind that check in is not until 4:00 and she went above and beyond to do what ever she could. The staff was also very professional and nice. In a nutshell the Chauncey offered everything we could ask for and more. Would I choose the Chauncey again? Yes I would. Thank you Catherine and the Chauncey for an amazing wedding. Sara Bloom Leeds(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-09-2016 Wow, where to begin? To start, The Chauncey was absolutely perfect for our wedding and five stars is not nearly enough to convey how wonderful this place is. Hands down. As soon as we saw it, we fell in love with the beautiful scenery, gorgeous gazebo, and the overall cozy yet classy feel of the place. The rooms and hallways were unusual, with multiple textures and levels that made it feel not just intriguing, but warm and inviting. Plus, we had a lot of family and friends coming from out of town during a holiday weekend, and it is in a perfect centralized location where people don’t have to run back and forth to a separate hotel, since everything is attached. It really is all-in-one and super convenient! Our guests also loved visiting the downtown and the surrounding areas, which many of them had never seen before. In addition, the staff is the most professional and top-notch staff we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone was so kind and willing to go above and beyond to make our special day absolutely perfect. Cathy Geer, especially, was AMAZING. She is the best and helped make sure every detail was exactly as we wanted and really kept our stress level at an all-time low. We don’t know how we would have managed without her, but she is absolutely wonderful and a joy to work with. (We really can’t thank you enough Cathy, if you read this!) Not sure how she does it, but she ROCKS! Not to mention, the food was superb! Plus, we had many guests with various food allergies and eating issues, and the Chauncey staff happily catered to their every need, which we really appreciate. In all, it was an incredible experience and a gorgeous day. People are still raving to us about how beautiful it was, how good the food was, and how much fun they had. Mary and John Scott(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-10-2017 When you hear that two of our daughters were married at Chauncey Hotel & Laurie House Garden Pavilion you can quickly see we loved it! Catering and Social Sales Manager Catherine Geer was a lifesaver as she steered us through the process of picking and choosing all the elements that produced such blissful memories for both our girls. We had a June wedding and an October wedding. One had their ceremoney in the gazebo overlooking the water with fountains behind them while the other chose to be married at dusk under a canopy of twinkle lights in the magnificent outdoor tent. Completely different and entirely dreamy. If it weren't for Catherine Geer we might have been bumping into each other and pulling our hair out as we pulled it all together the day of but with her expertise she had us all right on time and relaxed to enjoy all those months of planning that culminated in wedding magic. Along with the beautiful venue the food tasting was fun and informative and what we ordered for the reception was delicious. The venue is a Conference Center so we had a block of rooms for our out-of-town guests which included a marvelous breakfast the next day and I can't even count how many guests loved it. All could party hearty and just walk to their rooms after the reception. The breakfast was yummy and we could stay and chat with multiple refills of coffee as long as we wanted before checking out. At both weddings we chose to also rent out the Laurie House which is right on site and provides seven bedrooms. We filled those rooms with our family as well as the bride and groom. Here was another perfect touch where snacks were provided the day of the wedding leading up to the ceremony, the flowers were delivered and kept in water and our family was free to have a private area just for us before and after. I highly recommend that decision; it was totally worth it. Catherine Geer was a perfect manager for us and responded immediately to every single e-mail or phone call we made with inquiries or change of mind. If our third daughter wasn't getting married in California, I'm sure our choice would have been Chauncey again. It was a seamless experience. Reviewed on 01-08-2016
Becky McTamney(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-05-2016 The day of the wedding was seamless, but the months leading up caused a lot of stress. I did a lot of the planning myself, so naturally I had a lot of questions starting a year out. If you asked me to review the Chauncey 2-12 months before the wedding, I probably would have given them 1 star. We quickly realized that email communication wasn't possible, as our questions were not always answered. At one point I was told we would be in charge of set up and clean up until we pushed back and we were told it was ridiculous that we would even think we were expected to do that. We were led to believe that no other events happen on the weekends besides weddings, so we didn't worry about blocking off too many rooms figuring if we needed more they would be available. 6 weeks before our wedding our guests were trying to book rooms and were told our block is full. Would have been nice if we were directed a little better when choosing the number of rooms to block off. We didn't taste the food offered on our menu at the food tasting because it was buffet style. It was basically a big sales event and was a waste of our time. Everything served would have required an upgraded package. The day of the wedding went well for the most part. The grounds were perfect for our ceremony and pictures and everyone loved the food. The only issue we ran into the day of the wedding was when I went to the room before the wedding, there was a chunk missing out of one of our cake layers. They claimed that it was dropped off like that, but my sister was the one who dropped it off so I knew that wasn't true. Even so, the icing was buttercream and it was a simple fix they didn't attempt or even let me know so we could make sure it was fixed. Instead they were going to leave it out for everyone to see.Knowing what I know now, I probably would have chosen another venue just to limit some of the stress we dealt with leading up the day. The hotel had the perfect combination of modern and rustic. The gazebo overlooking the water with the bridge and fountains was so picturesque it felt like a scene out of a movie. We already had plans for a reception off site, but the staff still did a great job accommodating our ceremony and making sure everything was perfect. Cathy did a great job answering all my questions (especially as I changed my mind or added things). I loved how many areas there were for people to gather as we got ready to go out to dinner the night before, gathering to all head to the reception, and just hanging out at the hotel at the end of the night. Tara O(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-05-2016 The Chauncey is an eclectic mix of modern and vintage sophistication. The options are vast for ceremony spaces and reception sites. The hotel offers an outdoor lakeside ceremony location and indoor or outdoor reception areas. We chose to hold our reception outdoors in the tent. Out of all the tents I've researched and viewed in the area, the Chauncey has by far the most beautiful one. Near the tent area is the Laurie House, a quaint bed and breakfast that makes for great photos. This is an ideal \"getting ready\" spot for the bride. We also stayed here for two nights, one before the wedding and one after. The hotel itself can accommodate all your guests for a fairly reasonable rate. Cathy, the wedding coordinator is very accommodating, she was always available to answer any and all of my questions. She is willing to work with the bride, whatever her needs may be. She made me feel comfortable as soon as I met her, showing me the grand tour of the space and providing suggestions on how to make my big day perfect. The outdoor reception site does require you to end music by 8 p.m. and conclude your event by 10. On the upside, the DJ or band can move into the hotel lounge and you can party all night long in there!
