Clark Gardens Reviews

We are so happy that we had our wedding at Clark Gardens! We loved that the venue has multiple choices of ceremony spots. We chose to have our ceremony at the Channel Gardens where they turn the water fountains on when they pronounce your marriage (so fun!). We then took family photos in front of the beautiful White Garden (great symmetry and lighting). We took couple's photos in front of the large pine trees, at a fountain, and behind the white garden surrounded by lily pads. There are just endless options for photo opportunities which is why we loved that guests got to explore the gardens during our cocktail hour. The East Tent was truly our favorite and reminded us of a \"Harry Potter\" wedding. It actually poured rain on our wedding day during the reception. We had left one side of the tent flaps down to block any rain from hitting the DJ, but otherwise it was open air. The staff squeegee'd water the whole time. Yes, it got wet. Yes, we still loved every minute of it. This is a great venue that feels like a secret garden, but also feels more adventurous than a traditional venue. Molly, our coordinator, was prompt to respond to all emails and very helpful, respectful, and just kind for the whole experience. I could not have asked for a better day. The venue is less than 15 minutes from Mineral Wells which is a fun little West Texas town. Reviewed on 20-08-2023
Jennifer Crenshaw(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-04-2019 When considering wedding venues, I knew that I wanted an outdoor garden setting. The first time we toured Clark Gardens and heard the love story and history of the grounds, I knew this was the place I wanted to get married at. Ansley was our coordinator at Clark Gardens and she was very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful during the planning process and on the wedding day. We had our ceremony at the channel gardens and our reception in the tent on the East Side. It rained at the end of the night and the staff at Clark Gardens made sure that the floors stayed dry and the party continued. There isn’t a bad spot on the whole property of Clark Gardens and we utilized a lot of the beautiful places on the East Side for photos and other events. We had our rehearsal dinner at Oxbow Overlook and the sunset over the pond and fountain was such a beautiful setting. Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful it was!We also rented out one of the houses on the property the night before the wedding. The Retreat is a beautiful house with tons of space for a large family or wedding party. It’s conveniently located on the Clark Gardens property and makes for a great getting ready location for the girls. We spent the whole morning making breakfast and getting our hair and makeup done and having a great time. I highly recommend Clark Gardens because it has so much to offer and it truly is a hidden gem right outside of the big city. Our wedding was perfect and the staff at Clark Gardens were wonderful to work with! Reviewed on 06-08-2019

I was worried about the heat but the area where our guests sat was shaded and fans were provided at the reception under the tent. Dan White(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-06-2019 Clark Gardens is a very special place, nestled in a quiet rural \"traffic free\" setting, yet very convenient to Fort Worth Dallas and the surrounding areas. The Garden provides 35 acres with several excellent settings for the ceremony and reception, along with great contingencies for rain. My daughter and her fiancee' chose the Chapel for the ceremony, the elegant Channel Garden (reflecting pond) for a reception and the large 5000 sq ft tent for the Dinner/Dance. Things could not have gone better. Our harpist really made the ambiance so peaceful and wonderful for a wedding to remember! Clark Gardens is a magical sort of environment. The staff is exceptional and the pricing represents a great value. Be sure and consider renting their large house known as the Retreat, along with the smaller second house. They came in very handy for our wedding party and guests that wished to stay on site the night before and the night of the wedding. In summary, I simply cannot say enough positives about Clark Gardens. It deserves your serious consideration in venue selection. You will not be disappointed. Be sure and ask about the history of the Gardens, it is a wonderful love story, worthy of a movie! Reviewed on 30-07-2019

My family & bridesmaids stayed at The Retreat house on property before the wedding - Also where my in-laws had the rehearsal dinner. No surprise that this place was beautiful! From the staff setting up lights, tables, linens, & chairs for rehearsal, to them coming back the next morning and taking out the trash. They are amazing!I could go on and on about Ansley, the director of private events, who made my experience at CG’s one I will never forget. I called her every day for nine months for advice, or for guidance on wedding details. I’m sure that this got to be a lot for her, especially since she is so busy already. But, none the less, she helped make my experience so easy & an absolute dream. She takes such pride in the Gardens, her staff, and her job. She is such a special person, and nothing short of amazing. Chelsea Golden(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-04-2019 My husband and I are very young and are raising our first child together. We knew we were soul mates when we first met. We go back to that night often.. Anyway, my husband and I decided to tie the knot the summer after our daughter was born. Being young, we’re still building in life, so our budget is tight. We saved until we were sure we had enough for something small. Neither of us need something huge. Just something small, intimate, and beautiful with our closest relatives. I had my heart set on something local, the area means a lot to my husband being that he grew up here. I also wanted something outside. I started researching things online when I came across Clark Gardens. I browsed through photos and reviews and began falling in love with the enchantment of each section of Gardens. I decided to call Ansley, the Clark Gardens Event planner. She was very pleasant and polite! She answered all my questions and listened to my story and what we wanted. She was very eager to get started so we planned a day for a tour and to talk out price quotes and business and such. My husband and I met with Ansley at the front of the Gardens. Neither of us had been there before, so Ansley offered to give us a tour if the entire Gardens. This also allowed us to see what we like as our options. The Gardens were beautiful! Ansley explained the history of Clark Gardens as we toured the grounds. There were so many beautiful parts of the Gardens to choose from. It was going to be difficult for me and my husband to decide. However, we did both agree we had our hearts on the Rose Pavilion. Ansley kept constant contact with us the weeks leading up to the wedding. The day finally came! And my entire wedding party and plans were an hour behind! We had to rush to get set up, but Ansley was not worried and allowed us a little extra time for photos after the ceremony. She made sure everything was as perfect as she could. In the end, our wedding turned out beautiful! I appreciate all the help from Ansley and Clark Gardens for making our little dream come true! From the moment we stepped foot onto the premises, we knew that we had to have our wedding here! Their staff gave us a first rate tour of the entire premises, showing us all of the beautiful locations that were available for our ceremony and reception! Lindsey Clark(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2016 Clark Gardens was the Perfect venue for my wedding day! I pretty much planned the whole thing without fiance's help (which was fine, I am a planner and hes not!) but I did want his input so I asked him to describe what he imagined our wedding day being and he said \"Magical and Romantic\". Clark Gardens was the Perfect setting for this. I actually did bring him out to help me decide on the venue and we both fell in love with Clark Gardens. There was also the added humor of my maiden name being Clark... One last Hurrah for my maiden name hahaThe whole day went super smoothly. I didn't hire a wedding planner, but Clark Gardens provides a day of coordinator to make sure the day runs smoothly. They tell the vendors where to set up and help make sure the ceremony is perfect (even coming out to the rehearsal to help you practice). There were times (before the wedding day) I wished I had hired a planner because all of the planning got super overwhelming and stressful... but when it came down to the day of, the coordinators really helped put me at ease! Everything was pretty much set up when we arrived an hour and a half before the ceremony. They carted my guests to the ceremony location by golf cart and all of my guests really liked that :) And the venue itself is just so gorgeous. I could go on and on about that, but if you go out there yourself you will see! I wish I could post photos! :) My photos are so gorgeous and of course the venue is a big part of that! Also, if worried about weather... they have an onsite adorable chapel in case of rain and a huge permanent tent that's cemented in (not the type that would Ever blow away) for the reception. I cannot tell you how much peace that gave me in the weeks leading up to the wedding... I hardly even checked the weather because I knew we'd be covered either way! Clark Gardens was the perfect spot. The ceremony was at bowling green which was perfect, so green, so lush, the perfect outdoor spot. We had an arch at the wedding, but honestly it's pretty enough as it is and really doesn't need anything. Our reception was in the east tent. I had really wanted a tented reception, but I didn't think I'd be able to find that, so I was thrilled that Clark Gardens had not one but two tents. The east tent is beautiful and holds quite a few people, so it worked really well. Also, they have those really pretty gold chairs, and one of my wedding colors was gold, so I took it as a sign that I should have my wedding there :).Jacey and Lauren were THE BEST. Seriously. My husband and I live in Fort Worth, with some family and friends in Dallas, so I'll admit there was a little hesitation about choosing a venue so far away. But it was ABSOLUTELY worth it.\r\rI fell in love with the venue on our first visit. We had reserved the entire East Garden, which gave us access to all of these little gardens and ponds and wooded areas. It felt very \"Alice in Wonderland\" to me—kind of a magical place to explore. One of my favorite things is the way guests are seated under the trees along the Channel Garden pond, which is where we had our ceremony. The fountains came on as we were pronounced husband and wife and made our way over to the East Tent for the reception. There is simply no other venue as beautiful an unique!\r\rOverall, this venue is REALLY flexible. There are several built-in rain plans, which is really nice when you're planning an outdoor wedding. I loved that we had so many different gardens to choose from for various events and photos, and I wish I'd had even more time to just explore on my wedding day. I also loved that we were able to BYOB, as my husband and I are homebrewers and wanted to bring our own beer for the wedding. Even more, we able to bring our dog to be the ring bearer, and he just hung out in a little fenced area during the reception. \r\rLogistically, this place can be a challenge because it's far away. But the staff (Lauren, Chelsea, Jaci) were very helpful from day one, and we just booked buses to take all of our guests there and back. I can't wait to go back for a visit on our anniversary. Definitely recommend this place! Reviewed on 08-10-2015

Sara Mulkey(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-10-2014 We got married at the end of October this year at Clark Gardens and it was awesome! I live in Houston, but I am from the Mineral Wells area. We didn't choose CG because of the location necessarily, but because it was the best value. First off, the scenery is incredible. Our ceremony was in the Bowling Green and the reception in the East Tent. The tent alone would have cost us $4k anywhere else. We loved the fact that we could bring in our own food and alcohol. We ended up buying alcohol at Spec's at a discount then hiring Bumble Bee Occasions to cater, bartend, and decorate. It was a really good value doing it that way and took a lot of stress of me. Other good factors about Clark Gardens: plentiful parking, shuttle service to/from the nicest hotel in Mineral Wells (our guests loved that), multiple beautiful location choices, and Chelsea. She was excellent to work with and made our planning experience stress-free. She even came to work on a Saturday when she was scheduled off before Christmas to meet with us since we live out of town. The place is a little pricier than what we were wanting but we figured we'd compromise somewhere else on our budget. Unfortunately, we had such a battle with our coordinator (Kay) that it took away from the experience. Multiple times, she tried to go against our contract and we would have to battle it out. It wass unnerving when I was told \"That's not in my copy of your contract, can you please email me what your copy says\". The copies should be the exact same! I ended up going to the owner who agreed with me and gave me what was listed in our contract. I received 2 invoices for things that were, by contract, included. After talking with the owner, she dropped both of these. Also, when we first visited, Kay let me,my husband, and my in-laws know that we could host a rehearsal dinner at the retreat (a house on site that we had rented out). She said there was no limit to the number of people and that we could have it inside or outside. So we went ahead and planned for things to be there. Well, turns out, you can't host events at the Retreat. They acknowledged their mistake (since I also had it in writing that she approved this) and said I could have it elsewhere on the gardens but for a $350 charge! Of course, I said this was ridiculous and they dropped that charge also. Perhaps we caught them in a period of transition or something but it is difficult to plan a wedding when things change so frequently. It ended up being a HUGE headache and I dreaded every time I had to email them. \r\rIf they can get their staff figured out this has the potential to be an AMAZING place. Clark Gardens helped to mold our day into an amazing experience. Not only am I a \"Planner\" but am extremely organized and had picked Clark Gardens on the first visit out there. I loved the idea that Clark Gardens offers a built in tent option for the possibility of rain and offer many different venue locations in the various garden areas. From perfectly strung lights, the chairs and tables set up exactly as we requested and into a second venue for the following reception the wedding ran exceptionally smooth. The personal help from Carol Clark Montgomery, herself to fix my train before my father and I walked down the aisle was not only comforting, but also a gesture she definitely didn't have to do. At Clark Gardens they strive to make their customers and their guests absolutely comfortable and happy. \rWith most of our Friends and Family having to make the drive to from North Dallas to this location, we have had more people tell us they plan to go back to the venue for lunch in the gardens or also to partake in their seasonal fun runs. This is wonderful to hear as most people these days won't take the time to leave their area code! \rWe couldn't be more happier that we picked this unique and beautiful gem! It was perfect for our wedding! Definitely a very special place from the inside out! Reviewed on 16-12-2010

The price is comparable with other vendors, they were very welcoming and willing to work with our needs. This place is a diamond in the rough. It is worth looking at. Reviewed on 29-06-2010
Brittani Carruth(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2007 Everything about it was beautiful. The lighting was wonderful for pictures even after dark. The tent where we held the reception was huge and easily fit 200 people for a sit down reception. Reviewed on 10-05-2010
Yvette Ard(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-06-2005 The garden was absolutely beautiful. The price was great. It's a little out of the way, but it was really beautiful.;They won't let you throw rose petals, which they didn't tell me till the day of my wedding. I bought the rose petals from them, then the day of, they told me that we couldn't throw them, and if we did, we would have to pick them up. So we didn't end up using them for the going away, but we did use the for walking down the aisle. then after the wedding before the reception, I was doing my best to pick up all the rose petals out of the dirt in my wedding dress. That made me angry. Then there was another wedding going on there that day, so they told me that there would be a staff member at the entrance to direct people to the correct wedding, but there was no staff member to be found. So some of my guests made it to the wrong wedding, only to realize they didn't recognize the bride or the groom. Reviewed on 10-05-2010

My ceremony and reception were in the same garden. It was private, and beautiful. The flowers were beautiful, the reflecting pool and fountains provided a tranquil and romantic setting. I loved it.;Be sure to take in account that since it is outside there is the possibility of mosquitoes. We used miniature citronella candles along the reflecting pool. Reviewed on 08-09-2007
