Cleveland Marriott Downtown At Key Tower Reviews

We would highly recommend the Cleveland Marriott Downtown, at Key Tower as a wedding reception venue! The staff cooperation was beyond outstanding. They catered to all of our needs and requests needed. The food was absolutely excellent and they served almost 200 guests with ease and efficiency. I had actual chefs attend the wedding who were impressed by the taste and quality of the food which is saying a lot. The staff throughout our wedding night was very attentive always asking if there was anything we needed or they could do for us which was greatly appreciated. They made working with our vendors easy and seamless and worked with them throughout the process and handled all communications for getting everything set up and taken care of. The get ready rooms the hotel provided for the bride and groom were hugely appreciated. The rooms we used were beautiful and spacious and were used for the biradial get ready and also before the reception. We also used the Marriott for our Rehearsal dinner which was a great choice with food options and the staff was very helpful. The personnel including parking services and the individual staff for events and food coordination were polite, kind and efficient. Again, we would highly recommend this venue for any size wedding! What a wonderful time we had and what a great experience it was holding our reception at The Marriott @ Key Tower. We can't stop talking about it. And the guests who attended can't either. We have heard nothing but positive remarks from everyone. Also, we can't thank Cal and his team enough for all that they did for us; both leading up to the event and the reception itself. They made the planning process very smooth and accommodated any adjustments without a hitch. And they delivered everything promised and more during our two days at the Marriott. He and his team are all-stars!They covered all the details. I don't know where to start or end.The Ready Rooms for both the Ladies and the Men were just what we needed. Ample room with all the fixings. They were well thought out.The Hospitality Room was a great place to kick back both before and after the reception. The Ballroom and Cocktail Hour in the Foyer area looked wonderful! An elegant setting for such an important event. The food was outstanding! Served timely. Nice and hot. Just like the tasting. And the hoursdouvers were delicious. Our compliments to the chef!We can't say enough about the staff - what a great team! The team working the Valet and Bell station were so friendly and accomodating all weekend! The folks at the front desk were also very friendly and efficient. Special shout out to Mary, who accommodated a room change for our son and his wife She also accommodated a few late check outs for us on Sunday, what a gem.The banquet staff was exceptional as well. From Terrin, who always seemed to be smiling AND anticipating our needs ahead of time (including keeping our favorite beverage refreshed throughout the night); to Abby, who responded to any request with a smile and \"my pleasure\"; all the way down to the professionalism and friendliness of the servers during the cocktail hour and dinner. Oh, and let's not forget the folks working the lobby bar and restaurant. Great service all around.I know that this level of service and attention to detail doesn't happen by accident, so kudos to Cal for heading up such an exceptional team. He made us all feel at ease throughout the process, especially in the few weeks and days coming up to the wedding. He has a great demeanor and a calming effect on everyone. Also want to recognize his ability to look ahead and anticipate our needs. There were several times when I would ask about something, and the response was either \"On it's way\" or \"Already done\". We loved the whole team, but I'd have to give him the MVP.We will be strongly recommending the Marriott Downtown Cleveland to any and all that are planning a wedding or event in the Cleveland area. The food was AMAZING...2 months later I still have guests raving about the food! The team did not overlook any details, everything was absolutely beautiful and way more than I could have even imagined. The team went above and beyond in making sure my vision came to life. Alyse Krevh(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-01-2023 Amazing venue. We are so happy with our decision to book the Cleveland Marriott Downtown. Erin, Cal, Alison, Terrin, and everyone else we worked with were phenomenal! My husband and I felt like royalty every time we would come visit. Erin was extremely nice, helpful, responsive, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better Event Manager. She worked with our schedules for meetings, was willing to schedule meetings whenever we had questions, and made us feel comfortable coming whenever we needed to. She also worked with our parents and vendors so we didn’t have to be the middle communication line between anyone. We never had to worry that something wasn’t going to get done as we had full confidence in her and the team. This was huge for us considering how much else was on our plate. Erin’s direction/expertise for the event order of events was very much appreciated and everything went off without a hitch (that we know about at least :)). She stuck to our timeline goals and helped along the way to make sure we had everything we needed. We we’re blown away with the look of the room on the day of our wedding and appreciate how accommodating they were with cancelations and rearrangements. So many of our guests commented on how this was one of the best weddings they had attended. The food was delicious and we were so grateful that we could add personal touches to the menu making it unique to us. Having an all inclusive venue took a lot of pressure off of us and we'd 100% make this decision again. The team goes above and beyond and we feel so lucky to have had our special experience with such an awesome group. Thank you Marriott team! Reviewed on 09-02-2023

The pricing was fair and transparent. No hidden surprises. The best part was the wedding coordinator Emily Dybala who works direct for the Marriott. Emily was key in making everything perfect for the wedding we hosted July 22nd. Her communication and suggestions really helped us save money but also host the best night ever. Every guest complimented the food and service from the bartenders to the servers. I just cannot say enough great things about the Marriott and Emily. I suggest having a Friday evening wedding, the pricing is better and the hotel is more available. I wish I had more events to host just because of how great the wedding was. Rachael Serio(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2022 *WE DID NOT HAVE OUR WEDDING HERE. MY REVIEW IS BASED SOLELY OFF OUR TOUR AND COMMUNICATION VIA EMAILThis venue is STUNNING, absolutely beautiful. We truly LOVED this venue, unfortunately the lack of communication was the deal breaker for us. I had given them our date prior to our tour only to find out days later it was not available (I had to follow up with them). We then asked for a proposal for another date as our church is pretty flexible, and again no follow up, I reached out and that date was also not available. Even after receiving a proposal we heard nothing. To me this is unacceptable, we are spending upwards of $30,000. There should have been follow ups. As a type A personality I would never be able to plan a wedding here purely because I expected more. I cannot fathom being told my date is available, paying a deposit and then finding out a bigger better option came along and suddenly you're scrambling to change things. Our initial meeting with Alison went very well (I thought). She gave a great tour, she seemed organized and knowledgeable, this was a top venue for us. At the end of the day the hotel is amazing so I would still recommend as an option for accommodations, other than that I was EXTREMELY disappointed and let down. Reviewed on 26-03-2022
Ilyssa Resnick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-08-2021 Loved every moment of our wedding day at The Marriott!!! Cal and his team are true professionals. They were extremely accommodating as we postponed our May 2020 wedding to October 2020 and THEN August 2021 when the pandemic continued to progress. Cal and his team helped with every small detail and were extremely responsive throughout the whole planning process. Between coordinating the linens, cake, vendor arrivals, set-up, clean-up, last minute guest count fluctuations etc. they made our day worry free!! Cal even helped coordinate a surprise announcer for our entrances and having the ability to use the salon onsite for getting ready was SO convenient and made for beautiful pictures. We still have guests telling us that this was the best wedding food they have ever eaten. The Cauliflower Risotto was such a hit and the team cooked over 170 steaks to perfect temp. A S(other)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2020 So I never got to have my wedding here because of the coronavirus. I was initially very impressed with the sales team and wedding planner but then the pandemic happened. Marriott decided to furlough there employees and it was extremely hard to get ahold of anyone. The one person you could get a hold of, never actually answered any of your questions. I was 3 months out from my wedding and they kept insisting my 250-300 person event could happen and would not help me with alternatives or a plan if it had to be something smaller. It was a nightmare! I was extremely disappointed with the way it was handled and because of this experience would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone. I always thought the Marriott was known for their excellent customer service but what I received in a time of stress was nothing short of horrendous. I just hope this helps someone else avoid such a terrible situation. Reviewed on 15-05-2020

They were so accommodating and helped make our specialty day so perfect. Then when it came to they day before/ day of, they were amazing!!! Took so many tasks off my hands and handled everything making me feel so much less stress and that could actually relax and enjoy the time!! All of the staff were amazing and so helpful from the front door to the dinner service staff. The food was AMAZING! People still haven’t stopped talking about it!! They’re worried they will never find a better beef meal on their own! Then once it was all over the help and assistance did not end. Sarah Peters(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-12-2019 Let me start off by saying that Vickie the bartender was incredible. She solo bartended the entire night. Remembered people’s drinks, was hilarious and received many compliments from the guests. Tina and the rest of the wait staff were also very good. They were polite and quick and made sure everyone including the wedding party was taken care of. The chef even went out of his way to make sure that the groomsman that is a vegan had sides and desserts he could eat with his meal. The food was delicious. Now for the horrendous part. We went through two wedding coordinators. I honestly believe that since our wedding was on the smaller side (88) and they are used to larger weddings (300+) they did not want to give us the time of day. This wedding venue is expensive and I expect to receive proper attention whether or not I had 300 guests. Our first coordinator would not respond to our emails. Like three weeks went by and still no response sort of thing. This made it incredibly difficult to set up appointments and get answers to questions. We were given a new wedding coordinator after the first one failed to notify us that we were getting charged because she had not confirmed our payment date. This meant the incorrect credit card was charged and swiftly overdrafts our account. The new wedding planner was no better at communicating. We were told she was the best they had to offer and we would not have to deal with any more mistakes. Again we had weeks go by without answers to emails. We finally had to contact the director of the hotel to receive answers to our questions because the wedding was less than 2 weeks out. The day of was horrible. We were told in our contract that all set up and tear down would be taken care of by the hotel. The morning of my photographer arrived with heavy equipment for a photo booth and was told she could not use the main entrance to the hotel to unload. She was then directed to a side door with an elevator that did not work. When she asked for help they told her “we don’t do that”. She contacted the coordinator for help and was told that she was not on site. In fact she did not arrive on site until much later in the morning/afternoon. After arrival she was MIA for most of the day. My mom did most of the set up including the centerpieces and many of my decorations that were hand made did not even make it to the reception. Half the centerpiece candles were not lit because they (my parents) were told that would be handled before the event. The appetizers were never refilled during the cocktail hour even though the coordinator was asked multiple times to do so and we paid for more than we received. I had gift bags for people to take on their way out that were never placed out. The incorrect charger plates were used during the reception even though we had a meeting to finalize details. I was told I could not check in to the bridal suite until 4 PM even though the wedding started at 4:30 PM and many other questions went unanswered or undirected. My wedding photographer acted as my coordinator because she wanted to make sure I had the reception I deserved. Without my rockstar photographer we would still be standing there waiting for someone to file the guests in for the ceremony. I was told by the sales team that this would be an all inclusive package that required no worries, however, my coordinator caused much concern. My mom hardly got to enjoy the reception because she was busy looking to fix the missing details. Reviewed on 04-12-2019
Samantha Hoyt(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-10-2019 I want to start by just saying thank you to everyone who contributed to make sure our day went brilliantly. Michael and I chose this hotel because we knew we would be in good hands and well taken care of, it was an added bonus that the ballrooms are beautifully redone and helped our wedding to have a very clean and more modern look. At the beginning of the process we worked with Colleen. Colleen was very knowledgeable of the hotel and painted a beautiful image of what our big day could look like. She made us excited about our day and concluded our tour with a champagne toast. She was an easy sell and we were confident in our booking. After we booked we worked directly with Julie - Julie helped us with our big picture ideas and really honed in on what our expectations were for the day. Julie then went on maternity leave and we worked directly with Stephanie. Stephanie kept in good contact with me throughout the planning process and was there for any and every question I had. She was always honest with me and was even gracious with my mother who can be a bit to handle. The day of the wedding all of my reservations were appropriately set up and ready for action at 7 AM! Melinda from banquets must have checked in on me three or four times to make sure I had everything I needed and Cal even stopped up bright and early to make sure I was ready for action. When we arrived back at the hotel for the reception we had hor d'oeuvres and water waiting for us before we made our grand entrance. Cocktail hour was cleared in appropriate time and the rest was smooth sailing. Both Cal and Stephanie checked on us during the night to make sure we were well taken care of. The best gift of all was that if anything had gone wrong during the day, we knew nothing about it. All problems or potential problems were solved before we stepped foot into the reception and everything seemed to flow perfectly. There wasn't much more we could have asked for and it was really nice to just sit back and enjoy everything. At the end of the evening everything was delivered properly to our room and we slept SOUNDLY. Upon check out, Mary made sure we were well taken care of and knew exactly where our cakes/pictures/candles/etc were stored and helped us to get out quick and easy. She also took extra special care of my mother and I am extremely grateful for her dedication to making everyone's stay brilliant. Lastly I wanted to make a special shout out to the bellman who worked throughout the 17th to the 20th and took very good care of my group. My guests could not stop raving about how they were treated so wonderfully by these gentleman. Tom personally took care of some members of my family, including my parents and they repeatedly told me what a great host he had been during their stay and what a personable gentleman he was. Alan helped us get everything safely loaded and ready to leave - he made sure we had all of our belongings and were happy with our stay. Ron, who my dad now claims as his best friend went above and beyond to make sure rooms were stocked with extra towels, and to make sure I had everything I needed upon departure.I honestly couldn't have picked a better hotel, and more importantly a better staff for our wedding day. The Cleveland Marriott at Key Center is full of amazing hosts who worked diligently and brilliantly to make our wedding the absolute best day of our lives. Reviewed on 06-11-2019

I worked with Julie Solomon (now Julie Schorr) as my event manager and coordinator, and she was beyond spectacular. She answered every single question in a timely manner, no matter what time or day it was. My wedding day was organized and flawless. And I have to say - I was skeptical that any venue could cook almost 150 filet dishes and over 60 salmon dishes well - but the food was EXCELLENT. My filet was cooked perfectly, just like I would have expected from a top notch steakhouse. My husband had both the salmon and filet and was equally as happy. Many of our guests commented on the exceptional quality of the food. The ballroom renovations are amazing and stunning, very modern and exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue. It was absolutely beautiful, our event planner, Meghan was terrific and totally understood our vision, the food was incredible and the service was impeccable. \r\rWe did have a few small incidents the night of the wedding and the day after which surprised us. I asked for my meal to be boxed up that night by the butler (which was included in our wedding package) and brought to my room because being the bride, I couldn't eat a lot in a tight dress. The meal was never brought up to my room, which was really disappointing. Also the butler was supposed to check in on us all night and ask us when we needed more drinks and anything else in between, we never saw our butler after dinner was over. However, we were on the dance floor all night, but it still would have been nice to be check in on since this was included in the package.\r\rAlso, our groom's cake was supposed to be boxed up and brought to our room that night, it never was. We asked the next day what happened to it and no one from the staff knew anything about it. No one ate the groom's cake so that was an unfortunate waste of money. \r\rAlthough it looks like I'm pointing out a lot more of the errors, I assure you we would highly recommend that Marriott for any couple that is getting married and wants their wedding in Downtown Cleveland. It truly was beautiful and we couldn't have had such an amazing wedding without the Marriott at Key Center. Reviewed on 15-12-2015

Mary Cichanski(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-10-2015 We held our wedding reception at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center earlier this month and could not be happier. We knew even before the event we had made the right decision, but our wedding weekend was beyond what we could have imagined. We knew we wanted our reception in downtown Cleveland (since our church is in Ohio City) and we knew we wanted almost a \"destination\" feel since we had a good amount of out of town guests (neither of us grew up in Cleveland). We initially did not want a traditional ballroom venue, but the Marriott package was too hard to pass up and again we are so happy we went with them.\r\rOur initial meeting we were truly just doing our due diligence since we really didn't feel like we would go with the venue, but that all changed when we met Renee. Since our reception was on a Friday the Marriott crafted and negotiated such a wonderful package for us, it really included everything we wanted. From cocktail hour, our food choices, to a midnight snack and champagne toast, valet for our guests and brunch the next morning they had it all. We really did visit/consider almost every venue in downtown Cleveland and none were able to offer the same package as the Marriott. We were so used to hearing \"no, no, no\" and the Marriott just kept saying they could make anything work. \r\rOur event planner, Beth, was amazing and made us feel at ease throughout the entire process. She was there throughout the entire weekend and made sure each one of our requests was met. Whenever we asked Beth a question throughout the planning she would get us an answer quickly, so many times we thought our requests may not be able to be met and Beth made them all happen! \r\rOur guests enjoyed amazing hotel rooms and it really did feel like a destination wedding as everyone checked in on Thursday and had two great days of festivities. We can confidentially say there just isn't this level of service or another hotel of this caliber in the area. The food was amazing (throughout my honeymoon I compared our meals to our meal at our wedding) and as the bride and groom we had our own personal server who made sure we were never without a drink or anything we may have needed the entire evening. Everyone had a fabulous time, the ballroom was set up exactly the way we envisioned, the staff was amazing from beginning to end, all the hotel guests had a wonderful stay - I really just cannot say enough wonderful things and cannot urge brides who are still looking enough to consider the Marriott for your downtown venue. Gina Cipriano(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-08-2014 The Marriott is beautiful and knows how to put on an event!\rThe service is spectacular and the staff dotes on the bride and groom allowing them to relax and enjoy their wedding!\rEverything was set up as requested (and I was super detailed). I received many compliments on the venue, hotel rooms, and especially the FOOD. Sometimes during large functions (our wedding was about 500 people), the food quality lacks, but not at our wedding.\rWould definitely recommend! Reviewed on 19-08-2014
Lindsay (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-07-2014 When we decided to do the reception at the Marriott we met with Shannon Harris, she was great. Then she left. My mom and I were concerned to say the least. We were only a few weeks into planning, but I'm the first child to get married, so we had no idea what to expect next. Additionally, I was planning this wedding long distance from Dallas, TX!\r\rCal Elaban ended up being the point person for our wedding. \r\rHe. Was. Wonderful.\r\rEvery time I met with him I left feeling secure and unworried about the upcoming event. We had the reception in the lobby of the Key Bank Building (not the Key Club-the actual lobby attached to the Marriott). There was a small fee to rent the lobby (there isn't one for the Marriott ballrooms), it was worth it. It was absolutely gorgeous. I got to peek in the night before and I could already tell how beautiful it was going to be. \r\rIn the beginning I was a little worried that it was long hall (we put the cake in the middle so each side could see, and the people we knew would get up and dance farther from the dance floor) and that the music wouldn't sound right. I shouldn't have been. Again-it was amazing.\r\rEveryone assigned to work with us during such a hectic time could not have been more assuring or on top of \"it\". They had like five weddings there that weekend, and you would never have known it-I never felt pushed aside or ignored.\r\rCal helped to organize near the event with our band, florist, bakery, photographer, photo booth, and bus. I know they have a list of vendors that they work with as well. \r\rIn the package you get a cake from Wild Flour Bakery. We worked with Mona. She was amazing as well, and was so incredibly helpful! She even helped me to take cake back to Dallas for my husband. People actually ate the cake-peole never get a chance to eat the cake! I got many compliments, and I'm not a wedding cake person-I usually skip it-it's usually not that great--I ate the cake. \r\rThe food-catered through the Marriott, it was great. It didn't taste like it had been sitting under a headlamp. They also had an amazing veg. option. I ate the food at my wedding (I hear nobody gets to do that), and I'm glad I did.\r\rOh! There was a bike race downtown, closing streets all around the hotel. I almost had a breakdown because it changed everything-Cal was amazing, and extremely helpful. \r\rWe had brunch there as well. Loved it!\r\rCan you tell I had an amazing wedding weekend?\r\r*Cost, I didn't write it down because it wouldn't let me say \"per person\". It was approximately 150 a person after taxes etc. Reviewed on 24-07-2014
Krysten Udris(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-03-2014 My husband and I, each growing up on either side of Cleveland decided to have our wedding reception Downtown. We wanted something unique and non traditional to create a memorable night. After viewing the common downtown Cleveland vendors, and even some newer trendy spots (horrible customer service with some of these!!) we fell in love with the Key Tower lobby. Having our reception here meant, no venue rental fee, food and bar service through a reputable company (Marriott), hotel accommodations attached right to our reception, fabulous views onto downtown Cleveland and the list goes on and on. Renee Domaratz was a fabulous sell! She was great to work with, easy to talk to, fast responder, and also helped us create the wedding contract of our dreams in a price range we could afford! After signing the venue with her, Brittany Burlport was our wedding day coordinator. She. Was. FABULOUS!!! She was a great resource to have during the planning months leading up to the big day. She was fast to respond to emails and phone calls, she went above and beyond during the planning process (and the day of the wedding), and she helped keep my sanity during the days leading up to the wedding. These two women made my wedding planning experience go extremely smooth and I thank them for that! If I could do it all over again I would absolutely choose The Cleveland Marriott Downtown At Key Center for our reception venue and you should too!! Reviewed on 27-03-2014
Allison george(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-08-2013 Our Experience on our wedding day was AMAZING. Quality food, servers, decor, everything was easy and taken care of.. best day of my life. There were a few small details that were not what we discussed, but overall, it was great. Everyone had the best time and said it was gorgeous and food was amazing. \r The planning process was slightly more stressful. We didn't get our final banquet order (basically the bill) until 2 days before the wedding. We were slightly under our minimum spend, but didn't have time to add anything so they just charged us about $2,000 and we got nothing out of that money. Our Planner (Julie) was so fun to work with in meetings and on the phone, but then seemed scattered and forgetful when it came to details, getting it done, remembering what we said, getting us our bill, etc. Reviewed on 11-12-2013

Jessica Witt(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-07-2012 This is certainly one of the nicest hotels in Cleveland. It is also one of the busiest, so it is imparative to deal with them early and often, because it may be difficult to get all the space you need. If you are renting a suite please stay on top of them. They double booked our suite, so we ultimately had to move to a lower floor. They compensated for this mistake by giving us an an extra room at no charge. Reviewed on 09-08-2012

Rachael Incorvaia(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-12-2017 The Marriott at Key Center is where we held our wedding reception. The food and service was great during our reception but the planning and after process was kind of stressful with them. We went through 3 wedding coordinators up until our wedding. I felt like we were constantly repeating what we had already told the Marriott about our event. Also, they allowed a guest to walk away with my wedding bouquet and the waitress didn't say a word!!! (After we told the waitress to put my bouqet away). Also, we had a \"candy bar\" as favors for the guests (they could serve theirselves to a buffett of candy)...my dad caught some of the staff taking candy that was meant for our guests. For the candy bar, we brough in all kinds of glass containers, the next day we couldn't even find all of them! They threw away some things that belonged to us that we brought into the hotel for our wedding. The Marriott was very expensive and the food was worth it, we just wish the staff would have had their \"game\" together a little bit better! If you book this venue, make sure you bargain with them! (they wont cut the price, but they will throw in extras at no charge!) Reviewed on 24-07-2011
