Colonial Hall at Rockafellas Reviews

Amazing experience. We had our 2020 covid ceremony here with 15 people. They helped us postpone our larger wedding until it was safe. Every detail from vendor coordination to a perfect dinner menu was taken care by our coordinator. Our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was, the dancing and overall wedding! We love it here. Reviewed on 18-07-2023
Brittany Daley(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-06-2018 We had our June 29th Wedding reception at Colonial Hall. We have nothing but amazing things to say about our experience of working with them. Their staff and coordinator (Michelle) are wonderful and took the time to make sure that everything was perfect. This venue is truly a hidden gem. The high ceilings, dark wood, gorgeous staircase and windows and the bridal and groom suites make for beautiful photos. Our wedding was 1920's themed and the venue fit it perfectly. We received many compliments from our family and friends of how beautiful the venue was. AND. THE. FOOD! so many of our guests raved about the food and how it was the best they've ever had! This venue and staff are one of a kind and we recommend them wholeheartedly! Reviewed on 03-11-2018
Julie O'Donnell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-11-2017 We are excited to share our wonderful experience with Colonial Hall. We held our wedding reception here earlier this month (11/2017) and could not have been more please with how everything turned out. We had ~125 guests which allowed for ample space for seating (and dancing!). The venue itself was beautiful and the team who helped decorate and set up made it look even better. The cocktail hour on the balcony provided the opportunity to mingle with guests while looking down on the bandstand and seating area. Compliments to the chef - the food was amazing. Our guests raved about the appetizers and dessert especially. Also, compliments to the bartender for helping craft a signature cocktail for the evening. Above all we would like to give credit and thanks to Kelly and Michelle for helping to make this such a wonderful experience. From the start they both were instrumental in helping execute what we wanted. In particular, Kelly was very thoughtful in trying to make this night about \"us.\"We would recommend Colonial Hall in a heartbeat. Reviewed on 24-11-2017
Rachel Heenan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-09-2016 We had our wedding reception in the venue of our dreams! We could not wait for all of our family and friends to see this beautiful venue in Salem! With high ceilings, a stunning chandelier and hardwood floors, this venue sparkled! I work in luxury hotels and the service from Michelle, our coordinator and her team was five-stars. Michelle was always available when we had questions and the manager, Dave was also very helpful and kind. The food was amazing! We received so much positive feedback from guests, everything came out hot, fresh and all together. The setting was so beautiful from the chiavari chairs, the satin linen on the tables, the large window at the top of the staircase, the bridal suite, I could go on and on. I have pictures that I will treasure forever with the backdrop of Colonial Hall! We are just so grateful for such a wonderful experience on our wedding day! Reviewed on 28-12-2016
Sarina Ste. Croix(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-10-2016 Had our wedding at Colonial Hall on October 1, 2016 and it was beautiful! Michelle was very easy to work with and helped me stay on budget. She also let us come a few days in advance to set up and decorate since I have a bit of OCD when it comes to that stuff. We received so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was and also how amazing the food was! the only downfall is no parking, but there is a parking garage near buy that we prepaid for our guests in advance. I would recommend this place to any couple looking to get married in Salem! Reviewed on 14-11-2016
Kari Olson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-07-2016 Everything about Colonial Hall was amazing from start to finish. When we met Michelle we just felt so relaxed and she in no way pressured us when she knew we were still looking around. She also was willing to work with our budget since our guest list was smaller than most they book. The food was amazing and the decor that was included was everything we wanted, none of those cheap banquet chairs. I was also thankful that they allowed us to use some of their kitchen space as my dad was making the cake and he lives out of town. Afterwards, all of our friends and family, local and long distance, were raving about how beautiful the hall was (and being walking distance from our church helped too). Reviewed on 25-07-2016
Catherine Andrews(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-08-2014 Colonial Hall is a gorgeous venue that far surpasses any other function hall in historic Salem, MA. When looking for the perfect venue, you look for a few things: location, staff, food, reasonable pricing, atmosphere, décor and acoustics. Colonial Hall has all of that and so much more! From the entrance, through the main function hall, up the grand staircase and into the quaint bride and groom preparation suites, Colonial Hall is stunning. It can be a blank slate for brides (like me) who love to decorate or it can simply stay as is with its ornate banisters, large windows and art-deco chandelier. Acoustics are amazing – perfect for a band or a DJ. The food is out of this world! Three months later I still have guests raving to me about it. And with the extensive entrée and hors d'oeuvres selections, including several vegetarian options, everyone will find something they love at Colonial Hall. Just a hint: The chocolate bread pudding is sinful. I really don’t think a bride has eaten more at her wedding! But what really makes Colonial Hall unique is the excellent staff. My husband and I were provided with our own server who made sure we were able to try everything we wanted and always had a glass in our hands. It was like magic! The same kind of service was given to all of our guests making them feel like the VIPs they are. Leanne, the function coordinator, was my wonderful fairy godmother throughout the entire process. Whatever question I had, she was always prepared with an answer. Every email I sent was responded to quickly and any request I had was fulfilled. There were more than a few unexpected issues that came up during the event but without batting an eyelash she swept in to the save the day. Amazing! She is a real gem and it was such a pleasure to work with her. I would like to thank all of the staff at Colonial Hall for giving us the wedding of our dreams. It is certainly a day my husband and I will remember fondly for the rest of our lives. Reviewed on 07-11-2014

Michelle was great to work with. She is very responsive and walked us through every step. Our guests had a wonderful time and raved about the food and the service which were both exceptional. People are still telling me what a cool and unique venue it was. I was very happy when we first walked into the room for the reception. Michelle and her staff did such a great job putting all the elements together, everything looked exactly how I envisioned. For such a new wedding venue they really know what they are doing. Rebecca King(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-05-2013 Holly and her team made sure that our day was perfection. My husband and I were beyond happy with the service, the food, and the space. Quality all around! They even allowed us to come in the night before to decorate, which really helped reduce the stress. Our wedding day was perfect, and the staff at Colonial Hall had a large hand in that. \r\rThe hall was the perfect place for our event. The food was fabulous and the service was top notch. Kathryn Sim(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2013 My new husband and I are very pleased that we decided to hold our reception at Colonial Hall. After doing a long internet search and seeing three other venues on the North Shore, it was easy to choose Colonial Hall as it included so much, we got a great price, and we had to worry about so little!\r1. It was beautiful as is and we wouldn't have to decorate it.\r2. There is an in-house chef so we wouldn't have to deal with caterers and we would receive a private tasting.\r3. A very experienced and knowledgeable coordinator (Holly) was included in the price.\r4. We got to customize our table linens and chairs.\r5. Prepaid parking is available at Museum Place Garage.\r6. Instead of cake or a prepared dessert, I wanted an ice cream sundae bar with Richardson's ice cream (as I am an ice cream fanatic) and they were willing to accommodate me!\rWe communicated with Holly most of the time throughout our engagement, who was very helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive. We were married on 6/22/13 and it was a fantastic evening. The swordfish dish listed on the menu included fennel, which neither my husband nor I like, so the chef made us a substitution. It was literally the best swordfish I've ever had! We got rave reviews from our guests about the food and ice cream bar, too. The staff was very nice and Lisa made it seem like we were her only responsibilities the whole night. They were also very accommodating in that we were able to store our chocolate favors in their fridge overnight before the wedding and store our leftover ceremonial cake there the night of the wedding.\rI do hold a reservation though about the air conditioning, because it needs to be updated. It was a very warm day and it was too warm in the hall with 106 guests. Also a lack of communication on the part of the woman covering Holly's maternity leave caused me to have to run around in anguish to get a deposit in on time, but the woman apologized at least.\rOverall, I would definitely recommend this venue to another engaged couple! Kailee O'Keefe(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-04-2013 My husband and I celebrated our wedding reception this past weekend (4.27.13) at Colonial Hall, and could not be happier with our choice! We hosted 172 of our closest family and friends to a seated dinner and evening of dancing- I can assure you that everyone was well fed and had a blast! \r\rFrom the minute I saw the pictures of the space on line, to the time I left on Saturday, I still cannot get over the beauty of the room. I have a bit of an eversion to carpet in wedding venues, and love the idea of a unique and classy experience. Colonial Hall and their staff certainly provided that! The gleaming hardwood floors, and extremely high ceilings and gorgeous windows and chandelier, provided guests with a truly aesthetically pleasing experience! \r\rWe signed a contract with Colonial Hall over a year ago and were in frequent contact with the venues primary planner- Holly Harrington-Stern. Holly is nothing short of amazing. Holly was easy to get a hold of and was very responsive with any sort of thought, need, or idea I had. Holly is very knowledgable about party planning, and provided valuable input regarding things I had not thought of. Holly is able to think of your needs, and your guests needs, and ensures all are met. Holly is patient and very easy to work with. I can honestly say that my wedding would have never have been the perfect day it was without her! \r\rI highly recommend Colonial Hall to anyone who is planning any type of event or party. The room is gorgeous, the food is amazing, and the wait/bar staff are very friendly are all wonderful. Not to mention, Holly will help you make all your visions come to life- she knows how to throw a great event! \rAll you have to do is visit the space and the decision will be made. You will not regret choosing Colonial Hall, I promise! Reviewed on 01-05-2013
Laura Crosby(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2012 I had my wedding reception here. We were one of the first couples to book Colonial Hall, they did not even have a kitchen when we booked. The evening turned out lovely, although Colonial Hall was not necessarily fabulous to work with. It took 3 months to get a wine list. And by wine list I mean eventually we just had to go around them and go directly to their wine distributor. If you asked the event person the same question 3 times, you would get 3 different answers. The room set up took a week's worth of emails and several phone calls, and it still wasn't what I had requested on the day. The food was fabulous, but the timing of dinner was very odd. Some tables had finished eating, while others still hadn't been served yet. Overall I never got the feeling that they appreciated our business, which when you are dropping tens of thousands of dollars, does mean something to a bride. I would recommend them for a wedding, but I do not think we will ever have another event there. Reviewed on 22-09-2012
Emily Flowers(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-09-2012 Despite being a relatively new venue, Colonial Hall at Rockafellas is nearly flawless! Their wedding and events coordinator was extremely helpful every step of the way, and instantly made us feel like Colonial Hall was the perfect choice for our big day. She was easy to reach, kept in touch throughout our planning process, and helped us with questions big or small. The food is done by a separate chef from the downstairs restaurant (Rockafellas), and was so good! We had plenty of options to choose from, and our guests were literally raving about everything from appetizers through desserts. Every thing was great, Colonial Hall staff made our day easy, worry-free and were friendly and helpful with our family and guests at our reception. Not to mention, the space is absolutely gorgeous!
