Colonial Heritage Club is a wedding venue set in the historic town of Williamsburg, VA. This country club is built in the iconic British-Colonial style that characterizes Williamsburg and features 25,000 square feet of stunning architectural craftsmanship. From the grand lobby dotted with stately pillars to the sweeping verdant lawns, this estate is a spectacular setting for your celebration. Guests in town for the weekend can also enjoy playing a round of golf on the award-winning course, which was designed by Arthur Hills.
Your wedding at Colonial Heritage Club will begin inside the clubhouse, where you and your partner can get ready in two separate suites. These chicly-furnished lounges are on opposite sides of the building, ensuring that you wonât glimpse each other ahead of the first look. With no time limit on their use, these suites provide a relaxing place to do your hair and makeup, sip mimosas, and play billiards. Ceremonies are held out on the Unity Circle, a grassy knoll that overlooks the beautifully landscaped golf course. Arbors and chairs can be arranged to face the façade of the clubhouse or a picturesque water fountain. Afterwards, enjoy a cocktail hour on the verandah before retiring to the Grand Ballroom for your reception. This spacious banquet hall was fully renovated in 2017 and features new carpeting, wall sconces, and glittering chandeliers. It can seat up to 300 guests and comes with an elevated stage and built-in dance floor where you can socialize late into the evening.
Weddings at Colonial Heritage Club come with comprehensive rentals and amenities to ensure a convenient and stress-free event. Packages include tables and chairs, linens, glassware, silverware, china, and more. The Director of Sales Corey Pollock will also assist you with menu tasting and planning, room configurations, the rehearsal dinner, and vendor recommendations. The team will work closely with you throughout the day to create a fairy tale experience at this gorgeous country club.
My husband and I recently got married at Colonial Heritage, and we cannot express enough how amazing our experience was, thanks to Corey and Cathy! From the moment we started planning, Corey made the process seamless. His expertise and familiarity with all the vendors were evident; whenever we mentioned we were with Corey at Colonial Heritage, vendors immediately responded with enthusiasm often saying \"we love working with Corey!\" If you're considering Colonial Heritage for your wedding venue, I highly recommend it, and I can guarantee that Corey and Cathy will go above and beyond to make your day as perfect as ours was. We were burnt out wedding venue touring when we came to colonial heritage and met Corey and Cathy. We immediately hit it off and left that day knowing this was where we wanted to get married! Corey is the âdirector of happinessâ and he truly lives up to that title! I have no words to explain how perfect our day was thanks to the flawless execution of Corey, Cathy, and the colonial heritage team. First, the venue is BEAUTIFUL with tons of spots for amazing photos. Getting ready rooms were perfect, spacious, with a beautiful beverage bar set up for both bride and groom, with a private server and onsite restaurant open all day to order your brunch/lunch. Rehearsal was flawless, and Corey takes the time to make sure your party knows exactly what theyâre doing. When I say my wedding day was perfect I mean it was flawless! Thanks to the colonial heritage team there was not a single hiccup or issue and if there WAS we didnât know it! Corey is with you every step on wedding day. You can see in our photos that he is a hands on coordinator (thatâs him throwing the veil, holding the veil, and being held by my fiance!). Little did we know, (and I donât even know how he did this cause he was so attentive to us), he was snapping photos of EVERYYYTHING and the next morning after our wedding, he sent us a ton of photos which was so sweet to get to relive the day and night right after while you wait on your photos!! Our guests raved about a few things- first, we got the most amazing sunset views off the back of the veranda, the food was AMAZING, came out piping hot and everyone was talking about how delicious it was. Corey and Cathy were entirely dedicated to making sure we had the most fun and memorable day, all while making sure we stuck to our timeline. The ballroom is gorgeous especially with lighting (provided by Liz Daley Events, who was just one of Coreyâs amazing recommendations). I did not have a planner, and throughout our meetings Corey harnessed our vibe and brought our vision to life- seriously every detail was perfect. We love them and can never thank them enough for our happily ever after!!! THANK YOU COREY AND CATHY!!!!!! Reviewed on 02-12-2023

TLDR: The venue is gorgeous, the value is great, and most of the staff is wonderful - but the venue coordinators were often uncommunicative, dismissive, and ultimately added stress to the planning experience and our wedding day. /The Positives:Beautiful venue, including the lobby, reception room, and wrap-around verandaExtremely friendly, helpful, and courteous catering staff/bartender!Great value for a golf club summer wedding in WilliamsburgThe Negatives:The planning process/working with the coordinators In the months leading up to our wedding, we sent many emails that went unanswered or had very long response times. We often had to follow up 2 or 3 times, or repeatedly correct documents we received (e.g., incorrect pricing, meal choices, etc.). We understood wedding season gets busy and we are far from their only clients, and that, having a wedding of only 55 people, we were not their biggest or highest-spending clients either. So we figured if the wedding day itself went off without a hitch, then all would be forgotten. And the day itself was beautiful! My husband and I look back on our wedding happily, knowing that our family and friends pulled together to help us make sure everything came together. But the wedding went great in spite of the coordinators rather than because of them. The biggest challenges included: 1) Despite several in-person and written agreements that my family and I would be arriving promptly at 9am (the time our room booking began) and the wedding from the night before would be 100% cleaned up, the coordinator was 15 minutes late to unlocking the doors, and then did not speak a word (not even âgood morningâ) when she did so. We walked in and ALL of the decor from the previous wedding was still up, and the tables in our reception room were not set. We had to take down much of the previous weddingâs decor ourselves. It was completely unprofessional. 2) I (as the bride), along with all our vegetarian guests, were served an incorrect meal. I was left worrying about allergies for our guests and eating something that I did not want on my wedding day. We never received any kind of apology. After I finished my meal, one coordinator came up and told me it âmustâve been fineâ since I âstill ate it all.â (Uh-yeah-it was my wedding day and I was starving!) 3) Both venue coordinators left with over an hour and a half left in the event (one without any notice), meaning there was no one âin chargeâ at the venue. One coordinator told us to ask our photographers (who we hired, and did not work for the venue) if we needed anything. This made for a confusing timeline for the end of the wedding and there was no one to direct our guests for our formal exit. We donât write this review to bash the entire venue, because some of the staff was absolutely lovely and our guests had a great time. We just want couples to know what theyâre getting into - so if you have a dedicated planner, or a lot of free time to devote to constantly checking details or trying to reach the venue coordinators, then Colonial Heritage could be a great option. We understand our wedding was fairly small and we were spending less than their average couple - but we would hope that in the future, all couples are treated respectfully, particularly on the big day itself. Can I rate them a 10? We were married this weekend at Colonial Heritage and it was absolutely fabulous! I have been getting texts non-stop from our guests who raved about the entire day. According to my food blogger friend, the food was \"luxurious\" without being \"over the top\". I'm told cocktail hour was great--we missed that part. We are going to plan a special trip back to get one of the fried chicken biscuits we missed. :) When looking at potential venues, Colonial Heritage was not the top of my list. I didn't want a \"boring ballroom wedding\". But after our first meeting with Corey, we knew this would be the prefect venue. Planning was easy. Corey and Cathy will literally jump through hoops to execute your vision. And in pricing lots of options, you cannot beat the value. One final note--every vendor they recommended was amazing. Yes--there will be hiccups at every wedding. But thanks to Corey & Cathy and our entire wedding team, none of our guests noticed them. Thank you, thank you, thank you for our perfect day! Rita & Tom. Colonial Heritage is a beautiful venue! They have lots of places for great photos & their new ballroom is gorgeous! If you are looking for a beautiful venue with a staff to take care of all the details for you then this is a great choice to get married. If though, on the other hand, you are looking to have your wedding and details of your big day as YOU wish them to be, you should consider another place. My day did NOT go as planned, despite insanely detailed instructions and lists being given many times through email, and I urge you to read some of my issues before you decide to booking this venue. There were lots of false promises; make sure you get everything in writing! We had been promised for almost a year and a half a particular room for our ârain planâ (it was one reason we chose the venue), but three weeks before the wedding we received an email that we could no longer have that as our rain plan unless we paid and additional $1,200. If we were not prepared to do that we could pay to rent a tent or we could just have our ceremony in the same room as our reception! This should not have been changed at all let alone three weeks out when you are working on a budget. We had to go on two tastings because the first one we werenât asked what meals we were interested in so were served things we didnât like. We loved the food on our second tasting and went with those options! Much to our dismay, when we arrived at our reception the food served was NOT what we had tasted! The biggest difference being we had a baked chicken dish at the tasting and the chicken served at the wedding was battered and fried! I had been looking so forward to my wedding meal for months and was sad to not have anything close to what I had tasted & anticipated. Set up your own decorations! Despite the fact that they require you to pay for their service! My decorations were a disaster! I had specially spoken to the venue coordinator that morning about my flower petals being put on all the tables as part of my centerpieces; not one petal was used! It made a massive difference in how the tables & centerpieces looked. I had brought a âtake a seat not a side signâ & again had spoken with the person in charge about it specifically and she used someone elseâs sign instead of mine! I had not wanted any decorations on the wedding arch under which we had the ceremony. Some weird ugly tulle bow thing somehow appeared, OFFCENTER I might add, and is now in all of my wedding photos :-/ If all this wasnât enough, half of my centerpieces and decorations were THROWN OUT by the staff following the wedding! We were told to pick them up the next day, which we did, and tons of our belongings were not there, including 10 pearl garlands, 3 hydrangea Chinese lantern centerpieces, and 20 satin table runners!!!! Why they would throw away any of my belongings let alone expensive parts of my centerpieces is beside me!!! I still canât believe it!!!The photo opportunities around the venue are amazing, provided they let you go! We were promised time at magnolia lane which we loved! We werenât able to fit it in after the ceremony so was told we could do our sunset photos there. When we came to that time we were told to wait and do sunset pics around the venue then we would be taken to magnolia! It was not our choice as we wanted magnolia first but we followed the direction of the venue coordinator. Once we finished, as she instructed, and told her we were ready for magnolia she said it was too late and refused to take us over! We missed out on one of our top photo op places because we followed her direction and then she took it away from us! I was devastated! We were also told all golf carts would be stopped during the ceremony and yet we still have photos with golf carts in lots of our ceremony photos...including the photos taken by the venue coordinator herself! The service we received the day of was so Unprofessional! I had bridal party members, parents, and guests all comment to me about how rude the venue staff was during the reception! The venue coordinator, who had seemed super nice up to the day of, also turned and became really rude and unprofessional! To the point where I was told that she and the staff were blaming things on the bride to guests! Instead of saying no we arenât serving that tonight, I was told by several people, they were told no because the bride said so! Very unprofessional! We also received a super nice text from our officiant the morning after the wedding and the venue coordinator was included. Her only response to this âhow was ur wedding messageâ was a nasty, passive aggressive response about an incident that happened that evening! An incident, I might add, that would have been completely avoided had she followed my direction to remove that person from the reception! Again I was told she was going to remove him, but didnât, and 2hrs later there was an issue! But to tell our officiant that was absolutely unprofessional! Also, a drink was spilled all over half the dance floor and at no point during the 1.5-2hr reception did anyone from the venue come to clean it up! We were unable to use half the floor most of the night and it was a safety hazard! Something else to be aware of is if they offer free mimosa service. Be advised the service is for about one mimosa per person and then you have to pay an additional $30 if you and your bridesmaids want more than one! Totally fine, but I wish I had been told that in advance so I could have been prepared financially rather than going into it assuming on my wedding day when I was given a free mimosa âserviceâ that meant I could only have one mimosa. All in all I was beyond highly disappointed with the service at Colonial Heritage! I loved the venue for the photos and rain-plan, but like I said, even that was taken away the day of! I spent hours writing up specific instructions for my big day and still they were not followed! Lots of my decorations were not set up & and many were thrown out afterward! Our meals werenât what we ordered, staff was rude and unprofessional, and promises were made and not kept. There are other things as well that are not listed in this review. On a positive note, I did contact the site manager regarding these concerns, as they are major issues and I didnât want another bride to have to suffer on her big day the way I did. The site manager was very understanding and offered us a partial refund to help cover our losses, which was greatly appreciated. In closing I would really think twice about choosing this venue for your wedding! Reviewed on 20-08-2018

Megan Elks(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-03-2017 I had my wedding at this facility on March 18, 2017. First of all, when I arrived at 2 pm for a 3 pm wedding ABSOLUTELY nothing was done, despite the fact that I had been told to bring my decorations and wedding arch in a few days early and they would take care of everything. So thankfully I had a large group of people with me that were able to pull everything together for me and I was able to start my wedding on time. During the wedding procession, a golfer was allowed to just walk through my wedding party, which I'm sorry, but I think that is incredibly unprofessional. From what my husband told me, he asked if he could exit, despite seeing a wedding party and Stacy told him yes. She very easily could have directed him to another door, but instead I have a perfect stranger on my wedding video. Things progressed very nicely from there. We were determined to have a good time, despite the initial irritation. Dinner was good. Everything went fine until it was time to go. I had asked that my wedding favors be put in the room next to my gift table. I was told they would be put in the lobby next to my sparklers, which would have been fine if there hadn't been another wedding and a birthday party happening at the same time. There was no designation that they were for a specific party, so apparently guests from other functions were grabbing them and taking them. I know this because my guests witnessed it and I ended up not having enough favors for everyone. While we were packing everything up I asked for the remainder of my wedding cake. I was presented with two to go boxes of cake and I questioned if that was it because there should have been way more cake than that. I was told that's all she could find and we left. It wasn't until the next morning that I realized not only did the staff not give me the remainder of my $700 wedding cake, what they did give me was my cake top, cut into pieces. You know, the piece I'm supposed to freeze and save? Yeah. That was in pieces. Isn't that like wedding 101? I also realized I didn't get my toasting flutes and cake cutter or rented cake stand. So I emailed Stacy to let her know I would be coming Monday to get them. She informed me she would be out of the office, which was fine but I really needed the cake stand because I had to return it Monday to get my deposit back. So I went over there anyway, because l wasn't informed that no one would be there. Except a front desk girl whose sign said she'd be back at 12:30 and it was more like 12:45. I sat and waited for her for about an hour. I finally couldn't wait anymore so I went to Stacy's WIDE open office and found my toasting flutes and such. Thank god it was me that found them and no one else, since the door was wide open and they were in a bag for anyone to grab. I also found my cake stand and by some miracle, the rest of my wedding cake. You know, the cake the staff said they could find?!? It was over half the cake. I purchased a cake to feed 50-60 people and there were maybe 25 people there when we cut the cake. And believe me, with the tiny slivers of cake they served I knew there was no way they served the whole cake. So I have to wonder, is it habit for them to keep party's food and enjoy it themselves later? I thought about not saying anything at al but I really want everyone to know that the utter unprofessionalism of the staff almost ruined my wedding day. Reviewed on 29-03-2017

Brittany Gleason(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-05-2012 Not only is the venue absolutely beautiful, but the staff is fabulously helpful and accommodating! Victoria and her staff did everything possible to make this day as easy for my groom and I. We had both our ceremony and reception here, and it was beautiful. Also major kudos on the amazing food! I had mediocre expectations because wedding food produced in such mass quantities isn't known for being fantastic, but I was absolutely blown away! I have heard nothing but great comments from guests on the food (we had prime rib, salmon, and chicken dishes). I highly recommend Colonial Heritage to anyone looking to get married in Williamsburg! It was a perfect fit for our 170 guest wedding. Reviewed on 21-06-2012
Leslie Fitchett(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-06-2011 I recently had my wedding at Colonial Heritage in June, 2011. First off, Bonny Young was absolutely amazing to work with! She always returned my calls and emails promptly and professionally and answered any and all questions I had throughout the planning process. Our wedding was outside on a beautiful sunny day, the reception was held inside the ballroom, and I had more guests compliment me on the food that we chose more than anything else. The prime rib was delicious and tender, and the chicken was very tasteful as well! From the first day I went there, to the day I was married, I never once had anything to gripe about. The staff are very friendly, accommodating, and professional! I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone! Reviewed on 03-10-2011
Tarcela Ramboyong(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-05-2011 Being a non-resident of Williamsburg, I did my due diligence when picking out a reception venue. Since I was having a May (Memorial Day weekend) wedding, I knew it was going to be HOT and I didn't want to risk the chance of rain. I saw all the local golf clubhouses, hotels and winery and after jotting down the pros and cons, Colonial Heritage was my top choice. From the pretty views on the outside to the spacious lobby area that flowed out to an outdoor patio overlooking the green, it provided a nice atmosphere for the cocktail hour. And the beautiful ballroom that gave us enough room to eat, dance, laugh and cry (gotta love the speeches). \r\rThe woman I was working with from day 1, Bonny Young, was AMAZING!! Words cannot explain how sweet, attentive and attention to detail she was when it came to helping me sort everything out .. up until the day before. The catering director I was working with had left 6 months before my wedding, so I was really upset about that since we had built a good relationship from my multiple trips down there. While the new catering director tried to step in, I continued to work with Bonny (the sales director) to get everything done correctly. \rThe food was amazing and people definitely felt full after their meal. I ordered the fish and it wasn't dry, which surprised me because that's what I normally find at wedding when I order the salmon. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was when you picked your entrees for the seated menu, you pay for the most expensive option you pick. For example, we had 125 people and the most expensive option we got was the beef medallions. We had to pay the cost of the beef medallions for all guests even though some of them would pick the less expensive menu choices (chicken and salmon). This is the reason we didn't opt for the filet mignon. \r\rThe service was great. They were very accommodating. My husband and I opted to eat our dinner during the cocktail hour in the billiards room on the ground floor. We took this as an opportunity to enjoy being by ourselves and actually eat (heard too many horror stories about starving and I'm not good when I'm hungry). \r\rThe service during the reception was great minus the fact that it was HOT during the reception when everyone was dancing. We asked them multiple times to turn the AC up but it was already too late to try to cool a room with 125 people in it dancing the night away. \r\rIn terms of taking pictures at the venue. While they have the water fountain in the front and the greens in the back of the clubhouse, my photographer took me and my husband to a field that was right across the street from the parking lot. She was able to get big sky pictures that looked AMAZING! Reviewed on 06-07-2011
Courtney Mossman(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-04-2012 Our reception and ceremony as held at Colonial Heritage in Williamsburg Virginia. We had our ceremony outside which was very beautiful. The only bad thing about the ceremony was that since it was a golf course there were golfers in golf carts in some of our pictures. The room where we had our reception was very nice and we did not have to decorate it very much because it already looked good. Everyone as very nice to work with. The venue catered our food for the wedding which was very good but expensive. However there are ways to lessen the cost. Erika Zanow(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-09-2010 Colonial Heritage was the setting that I had dreamt of for my wedding. The ceremony was held on the knoll behind the clubhouse, with the beautiful white columns and staircase as the backdrop. The staff was absolutely fantastic - they were willing to work with us on all of the details we had to have for our special day. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were able to customize a menu and there were so many options. They provided a cocktail hour in their main lobby after the ceremony so that the guests could enjoy refreshments while we had our pictures taken. The reception was in their main ballroom. We had approximately 200 guests and it was very comfortable. It's an extremely large room and it's beautiful. We had everything we could have wanted from our venue! We were even able to get ready at the clubhouse. The guys were in an upstairs room and the girls were downstairs in a large room. They were very careful to make sure that my husband and I couldn't run into each other! I can't rave enough about this place. It was a little on the expensive side, but I would say it was well worth it. We got what we wanted without having to worry about a thing. Reviewed on 07-10-2010
