The Colonial Hotel was so incredibly amazing I don’t think I’ll have the right words to describe it. The coordinating team was so thoughtful, helpful, accommodating, kind .. Mary went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and make sure our day was beyond perfect. Anya and Kayleigh supported us beyond perfectly throughout the wedding day and get us where we needed to be without taking away from any of the fun we were having. The food was incredible and everyone made sure my allergies could be accommodated. The ease of having every part of our wedding in one place was exactly what we were looking for. Not to mention it’s just beautiful. Us and our families had the weekend of our lives. The Colonial Hotel is the best place to get married. Reviewed on 16-01-2024

When we got engaged we knew we wanted a venue where it had everything we needed in terms of ceremony, reception, and accommodations. In fact, we decided to look at Colonial Hotel first knowing it offered all of this and upon meeting with Mary for our initial visit we didn’t even pursue any other venue. From the start, Mary and her team were so great and helpful. Communication was superb, which during a busy time is key in my opinion because I know I was overwhelmed wedding planning so getting any reminder emails or update emails made me feel better. Our wedding was on 9/23/23 and we were so hopeful it would be a beautiful day to have the ceremony outside, but it was rainy. It was nice to be able to wait until about day or two before the wedding to give our final decision as to whether to have the ceremony outside or in the ballroom so that we knew we could be confident with our decision to ultimately hold it inside. Everything was absolutely beautiful and so well planned/organized. We would highly recommend Colonial Hotel! Reviewed on 01-12-2023

After getting engaged, we started researching venues. The Colonial was the closest in proximity to our home so we figured we’d venture out to check it out first. In fact, after our first tour there, we booked a date! The convenience of having everything all in one location is ideal for bridal party and for guests. Mary and the staff were wonderful start to finish. They kept our timeline on schedule, helped assemble & dissemble the decor, and checked in on us throughout the day to make sure we were good. The food was great - the portions were generous and we received many compliments throughout the evening. The bridal suite (there are multiple suites) was huge, fit everyone comfortably while getting ready. I can’t say enough nice things about our experience. I’d absolutely consider booking them as your wedding spot! Reviewed on 07-11-2023

Got married at the Colonial in April of 2022, my friends and family STILL talk about my wedding a year and a half later! It was the most magical day of my life. The whole team at the Colonial went above and beyond to make sure that our special day was perfect. We had early access to the bridal suite, our guests loved their rooms, everyone partied all night long (everyone loved the fact that the restaurant/bar stayed open for us until 2-3 am), the ballroom was stunning, the food was incredible. When we decided to move it into the ballroom her team was able to get the ballroom set up that night in time so we could have the rehearsal in there. Day of the team was attentive to our needs. They have a salon on site you can use for the hair and makeup team so there is plenty of room. The tent was gorgeous, and everything was set up how we wanted it. It was so hot out that I didn't eat much of my dinner or the cake and when we got back to our room there was a plate waiting for me with my meal and some of our cake. The Hotel always worked with us, at this point due to the restrictions we could only have 50 people including staff. The Hotel did tell us that we could keep our wedding and they would not hold us to any minimums and we could just use our deposits and have a wedding for 50ppl, or we could take our deposits and move to another date which we decided that is what we wanted to do.. We did get married and had everything that we truly wanted. We had asked for a bridal suite so that my bridesmaids and I could stay the night before and get ready in the room. They said they didn't have any but would try to upgrade our room. The room we did get was extremely small, I believe it was a handicap accessible room, that we barely could move around in. Our guests ended up having much bigger rooms than we did which was extremely frustrating and showed poor planning on their part. The room was not that great, and the hotel needs to update its policies. We were charged an amenities fee for which there were no amenities provided because of COViD. The deposit for the room was also far above industry standard, and took an extremely long time to be refunded to us. The hotel also was in the news multiple times leading up to our wedding for COViD restriction violations that was discomforting, however it was one of the only hotels in the area and we had extremely limited options for our guests. On one positive note, they were very flexible with the hotel room block, not charging for not having all our rooms filled within the time frame. She was able to accommodate my mother-in-law's request for a laid back rehearsal dinner, and was willing to go to bat for us on all of our 'out of the norm' requests. The salon space for getting ready pre-wedding was unparalleled and allowed for the bridal suite to be clean right up until it was time for the girls to get dressed. The food at both the rehearsal dinner and the reception was amazing, as were all of the passed hors d'oeuvres. Our package included Chiavari chairs and floor length linens which looked absolutely stunning in the ballroom. The space is so beautiful on it's own that we needed to bring very little decorations. Michael Lacerte(groom)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-11-2019 Due to the scope of our event, I’m going to rate services individually. Hopefully it helps explain why our rating is what it is. Wedding Ceremony/Reception: 4With the package we chose, we were fairly certain that the ballroom would look stunning, and we were right! The design elements, from the table placements to the entryway, hit all the right notes. The only thing that was a little less than perfect for us was the lack of a separate “dance floor” type of location. It was just the space between tables in front of the DJ. While it worked, it felt too spacious and if you have less than probably 150 people, you’ll notice it. Also, being as we had our ceremony there as well, it was nice to see how quickly the staff made the changeover from ceremony to reception ballroom.Coordinating: 2.5This one hurt a bit. It was almost as if, from the moment they had our deposit, we became just another couple and another wedding. Whenever I had concerns or questions, it felt almost like we were bothering people in trying to get answers. While the major things went smoothly (rehearsal dinner, entrances, etc.), it felt at times like it did because my wife and I were coordinating with the vendors. At one point, I had to leave a traditional ceremony with my wife’s family to help the DJ figure out his set up space, because no one seemed to ever be around when they were needed. A lot of times, we just had to figure things out on our own, and luckily I had experience from being in and helping with prior weddings. Hopefully it was just our experience, but we definitely didn’t feel like we were “special” in the way you should on your day, instead feeling like just another revenue stream for the hotel. I will say that Kailee was phenomenal whenever dealing with her. She was our initial contact, and the one that truly made us feel like we mattered. Even on the day of our wedding, she was still working to ensure our satisfaction. She’s an asset to the Colonial and I hope she’s recognized as such.Hotel: 2That brings me to the rooms themselves. We stayed for two nights, with the first night in separate rooms. In my personal room on night one, the volume of doors slamming was fairly startling. The carpets were torn in the halls, paint and wallpaper chipping on the walls, and our keycards worked at best 50% of the time. For our night in our post-wedding suite, I’d have rated it higher if we would’ve had hot water in the shower. My wife had to clean herself in the shower with cold water and then jump into the jacuzzi tub for hot. Throw in the fact that the heater blows directly onto the bed and you’re looking at a strong chance of getting ill prior to any honeymoon you may take. Food: 5Every single thing we ate was amazing. Even our guests were raving about it. No matter what you choose here, know that it’ll be good.Service: 1This should’ve been a five all day. The hotel staff itself was fine, as were the bartending staff and restaurant wait staff. I had to knock it down due to the fact that a server put a piece of tomato bruschetta on my wife’s gown prior to even getting photos with family and the wedding party. While I appreciated their efforts in removing the stains they created, we now have professional photos that visibly show blotted stains from this. I can’t believe a mistake of that level could even happen at what is supposedly a professional facility, let alone that a professional apology never came to the both of us for this. We had 214 guests and were all able to comfortably fit in the reception hall without infringing upon any valuable dancing space. The dinner service was fantastic and everything was absolutely delicious. It was obvious that the staff had worked many weddings through their continuous professionalism and attention to every detail. Of course with all the excitement, my husband and I didn’t eat much of our meal, but the wait staff kindly wrapped up our food and even delivered it to our suite with a bottle of champagne after the wedding at the end of the night. Our guests ended up booking over 70 hotel rooms for our wedding and we were able to host a breakfast the morning after in the hotel restaurant which was the perfect way to end our best weekend ever! The guests are still raving about how amazing everything was and keep asking, “How did you ever find that amazing place?”We highly recommend the Colonial and can’t thank them enough for truly making our wedding day unforgettable! Serene Shake(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2019 My husband and I recently got married here last month and we had the best experience with the hotel. I found this venue on The Knot based on it's value for money and the high ratings and I can understand why it is such. When we visited it, we knew right away that we wanted to get married here. We wanted a place where we could have everything from the rehearsal dinner to brunch with our families who traveled from afar. Colonial was the perfect venue for us! The staff were absolutely professional and on top of things. We knew that they were going to serve us and keep things moving but we did not expect the level that they did it at! They were so nice and friendly and on top of things. Our wedding party barely had anything to do because the hotel staff set everything up for us! If you're looking for a place that has it all, Colonial is it! We loved our suite as well and overall we are very happy. Reviewed on 17-07-2019

We got married here Memorial Day weekend and had the most amazing weekend. This place had every single thing we wanted... a beautiful ceremony site outside... a large tent for the reception... a bar/restaurant for an after party until 2 am and then to top it off... it is an actual hotel... so everyone literally walked up to their rooms and passed out after they were all partied out ;) if you want something that has it all and is SO convenient for you and your guests book your wedding here. We didn’t have to worry about anything. And it is so reasonable for price. No hidden fees... Mary, who is the amazing wedding coordinator told us every step of the way how much it would cost as we added things and it was exactly what we expected. I can’t say enough about Mary... she was so fun, down to earth, organized and helpful. She answered all of my questions so quickly and made this process SO easy. She is amazing at what she does. And kailee was so great and helpful too. I truly did not have to worry once on a day that requires so much planning. They handled it all. I will have the best memories from the colonial hotel and I am so thankful for all that they did! Our goal was to keep it stress free and fun for all our guests and having everything in one place accomplished that. The food was also amazing... our guests told us all their meals were delicious. Stephanie Sheehan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-12-2018 I am not even sure where to begin. We were married Dec 08, 2018. I knew I wanted a venue that was all inclusive in its packages but also in its venue. With it being winter i did not want my guests to have to travel in between. Having the rehearsal, ceremony, reception, AND after party all in one building was beyond ideal and we received SOO many compliments that no one had to leave the hotel once they arrived. When we visited last December, I knew the instant we walked in that this was going to be my venue. There was an enormous Christmas tree next to the beautiful staircase and I was smitten. Once we met with Mary the coordinator, I was in shock at the prices and inclusiveness of the packages. Mary was very easy to work with and beyond thorough throughout the whole process. We had MANY bumps in our year with loss of family members and we had to reschedule, meetings, tastings, you name it. Mary personally would call to just check in on not only myself but my family as well. I never felt pressured into making decisions or pressured by her or the venue while life was crazy for a while. I knew somehow in their hands that this day would all come together and it truly did. Kailee also had her hand in making our day special and making sure all of our vendors and important people were informed and coordinated. I cant say enough about this venue. I truly cant wait to return for a visit. We had 200 guests and we danced the night away in the ballroom. I have been told that it is the prettiest winter venue they have ever been to! I worked with Mary initially, but then worked with Kailee as the wedding day got closer. Both were incredibly responsive and helpful. Kailee was kind and calm, and made it clear to me that she valued my opinions and vision of my wedding, even when I sent her a million emails full of questions. When the weather was uncooperative, Kailee stayed positive, but made sure to keep in contact with me, even in the hours leading up to the ceremony to help us make the choice to move it indoors- which was still beautiful! Our reception was in the tent. We loved it! We were able to move the party into the Tavern after the reception was over, which isn't a possibility at many other venues. Danielle Cormier(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2018 When looking for a wedding venue, my husband and I had a few things in mind, \"easy to get to,\" \"affordable\" and \"fun.\" The colonial provided all three of these aspects of our wedding and MORE. The moment we toured The Colonial we were in complete awe. Mary, the wedding planner, was professional and honest and made our wedding day the day of our dreams. Once we arrived on site we truly were treated like royalty and did not have to worry about a thing. The Pub (colonial bar and grill) was one part of the venue that we fell in love with right away. We did a late night food station and invited our guests to go around the corner to the pub after our dancing was over. The hotel hired a DJ and the party continued. We had over 120 of our guests stay and dance some more with us. No one had to drive to where they were staying, and even those who were not staying at the hotel came to the pub to have a blast. What was a 5 hour wedding turned into a 8 hour party! Our goal was to have fun and let me tell you that we did. We had multiple comments from guests on how nice it was to have the ballroom, the pub, and the hotel all in one place. Not to mention the pure awe of the ballroom. I would truly recommend this setting to anyone! (I also highly recommend the late night food station!) It truly was THE BEST NIGHT of our lives. I absolutely loved working with Mary & her staff, they are amazing at what they do and our wedding could not have gone more smoothly. Mary made the the entire process super easy and was always available for all the millions of questions I had along the way. I was so relaxed the days leading up and the actual wedding day because of her. They really made our vision come together and look perfect. We arrived on Friday for our rehearsal, Kara was extremely patient when a few of our bridal party was running late. We had dinner after in the Colonial Grille, the service and food were amazing. The day of the wedding Mary would meet with our vendors and also had another wedding going on just before ours which you would never had known because Mary and her staff made us feel like the day was really all about us and kept coming up to check in that we had everything we needed! The bridal suites are huge, none of us minded hanging out in there all day because there was plenty of room to have our hair and makeup done and just relax. We had our ceremony outside and the weather and scenery could not have been better. We then moved inside for cocktail hour and our reception in the ballroom. I put all my trust into the staff and they did no disappoint, Mary was able to bring me down to sneak into the ballroom to look minutes before I walked down the isle and they had made it look better than I could of imagined. All 175 of our guest keep talking about how stunning the venue was, how friendly the staff was, and how good the food was! We had prime rib and chicken piccata and it did not disappoint. After our amazing reception we were able to invite our guest to join us in the bar and grille for a few more drinks and some late night snacks, the hotel also has a DJ in the grille on Friday and Saturday nights. I loved that so many of our guests were able to join us afterwards because most of them had booked a room for the night. I could continue you on with this review because even though its only been two days I wish I could rewind and do Saturday all over again. Nikki McClelland(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-09-2017 Colonial hotel isn’t just a wedding venue; they were the perfect hosts for our wedding weekend! My husband and I got married on 9/16/17 using the outdoor pergola site and ballroom tent. We are from Chicopee, MA so guests traveled 1:20 minutes. We had a young crowd who took advantage of the overnight accommodations; reserved 50+ rooms. From the day we booked 10/3/15, the entire venue/packages are constantly changing to maintain a modern atmosphere and popular wedding trends. Mary, the wedding coordinator was the one we closely worked with during the process and then leading up to our weekend was Kara & Sarah, plus many more staff! They were very accommodating and professional. I am a VERY organized planner and sent numerous emails requesting questions/answers. It took time to get certain answers, but was for 100% confirmation. For example I rented my own white dance floor; they were very accommodating with the rental company who had strict guidelines. Our weekend started with check-in Friday setting up the suites, along with reviewing wedding day details. They allowed us to store our entire decor in their space since we had a large amount. Due to the risk of inclement weather, Friday evening was when we made final decision if not outside; ballroom or under the tent. After deciding outside was final, we had our rehearsal then proceeded to the Colonial Grill with 37 people. The seating arrangements, display of gifts, dinner package, cheese and cracker display were all great, and then all the food came out hot and delicious. The morning of the wedding we had our suites pre-stocked with food, snacks, soft drinks, etc which was a more feasible option vs. catering from the restaurant. We did “first look” outside under the hotel arches, then proceeded to take photos on stairwell. That is the beauty of this hotel, there is numerous locations pending the weather or the photographers ideas. We were the able to enjoy a little time in our suites celebrating which allowed us to have fun after the professional photos. We did extended family photos then joined cocktail hour. Intros were so organized with the combo of our vendors and staff. Dinner was a very big decision for us, with the quality of the food, freshness, temperature, and presentation; they succeeded in all fields. We did the Champagne and Lace package -1 hour open bar, then 3 more hours with remainder budget. Mary helped us with this decision along with many others; she guided us during the entire process on ways to save on costs. The flow of the wedding was honestly perfect. They took ALL my thoughts/emails (which were SO many) and gave me the best advice & support throughout the weekend. The amount of fun we had at our wedding is truly indescribable and we have Colonial Hotel 100% for that. Lastly, budgets can be difficult for some but just remember your wedding day should be unforgettable. To have a great event you need to put hard work into planning and be prepared to spend. You need to really look at their wedding packages because they include so much and when compared to other venues their prices are very reasonable, I compared to many local and out of state options and the decision was easy for what they provided!Thank you Colonial Hotel for making our dream wedding a true reality! We love you guys and can’t wait to come back and visit! Love, Sean & Nikki McClelland Reviewed on 20-10-2017

Mary was our fabulous coordinator and answered hundreds of questions for me throughout the whole process. She did an amazing job accommodating all of our requests and making sure that there were no worries for the big day. I knew she had everything under control. She was there every step of the way and is really a pleasure to work with. I honestly can't say enough about wonderful things about Mary and the Colonial Hotel. The day of my wedding was honestly a dream come true. I can honestly say not one thing went wrong! We all got ready in the Hotel Spa area. The ceremony and reception were both held inside which ended up being stunning! We heard nothing but great things about the food (the chicken cordon blue was a fan favorite!) Our cake was part of our package and we got it through the Bean Counter. The cake was AMAZING. After the wedding we moved the party into the restaurant/bar area – it was a great after party where we had food. There wasn't one detail she didn't think of, or question of mine that she couldn’t answer throughout the entire planning process. You can rest assured that you are completely taken care of, especially on the day of the wedding but also every day leading up to it.One of the things I appreciated the most about our initial meetings was how upfront and clear all the pricing was. There was never any hidden costs or fees, and Mary made sure we had a very close estimate with a few different options to consider before we left her office. Our ceremony and reception were both in the ballroom (the hotel handles this wonderfully), we used the bar & grille for our rehearsal dinner the night before, and we stayed in one of the large suites. The suites are HUGE! Big enough for 8 girls plus hair and make up to hang around and get ready in without feeling the least bit crowded. Throughout the day Mary and her staff were managing all the vendors, setting up all our decorations, guestbook table, etc. exactly as we had pictured it. All I had to do on wedding day was wake up and celebrate! She made sure all the events that day were perfectly timed and coordinated, and everything went off without a single hitch. Our ceremony was at 6 pm, and at 6:01 I was getting my dressed fluffed and was ready to walk down the aisle. The reception was SO much fun, the food was delicious, and of course once again Mary and team made sure that everything happened exactly as we expected it would. After the reception most people headed back to the bar for more drinks and some snacks (it's open til 2 and they bring in a DJ during wedding season).I could go on and on - if you're considering the Colonial book it right now!! We get strange looks-- doubtful looks--but it's the truth. Our wedding went off without a hitch, much thanks to Mary Whitman and the staff @ The Colonial Hotel. If we had to do it all over again, we would not change ONE SINGLE THING-- and this is the absolute truth. For this-- we truly can't thank Mary enough. She is an amazing coordinator who will make you feel confident in the planning process and confident that all things are being covered. Weddings can be stressful to plan, so it's important to have an experienced, passionate coordinator at a venue with solid wedding experience to help assist you in the process. Our ceremony was outside--the gazebo was gorgeous! The tent reception was stunning- the most beautiful thing we've seen! The draping, the chandeliers, how they decorate/set up--it's picturesque. We got married @ the end of October so it was chilly, but the tent was heated and our guests were perfectly comfortable all night! We got countless amounts of compliments on the food (people are obsessed with their stuffed-chicken haha). After the reception ended, a bunch of our guests joined us in the Tavern (open til 2 am) where we ordered pizzas and drinks and danced some more! They have entertainment at night on weekends, which was awesome! There was a DJ there who played great music and we got to continue our wedding festivities without having to pay for extra time in the reception tent! We held our rehearsal dinner at the hotel as well the night before, and again-- people raved about the food and service! (The butternut squash raviolis were the fave). Missy Amelotte(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-06-2015 The Colonial Hotel was a fantastic venue! We chose the Colonial Hotel because it was a convenient location, where people could stay over safely. The wedding package options are wonderful including cake and flowers. Mary, the wedding coordinator was wonderful to work with leading up to an on the big day, I can not say enough good things about her. Even with an accident on rt 2 between the hotel and the church, she was able to keep things on schedule. I have gotten several compliments from guests on the food, and the waitstaff did a great job. I somehow missed our s'more bar, and asked if they could make me some, a waiter was nice enough to make me 2 and bring them out! We used the salon located in the hotel, which was so convenient for myself and the girls. The one non-stellar comment I have is with the hotel front desk, if I had one complaint it would be with them. I called on several occasions to check in and see how many rooms were booked, after being told that guests were told they booked the last room in the block. When I called, there was always confusion about the date of the wedding (we got married on a Friday and each time I called I had to re-inform them that the wedding was not on the Saturday), or was told they could not check for me at that time and was transferred to the wedding coordinator. We did tell Mary about the date confusion because I was nervous people were booked for the wrong day and after we talked to her, it did not happen again. Ultimately, we did have to expand our room block once, but not twice as I was originally told, causing us to spend additional money up front on hotel welcome bags, not a huge deal, but something to note. Additionally, the flyer shows the hotel phone number for salon services, I called to book the bridal hair appointments and was told that it was the hotel front desk, and they did not know the number to the salon. I had to email Mary to get the information. The day of the wedding, I asked the front desk if 2 bags could be given to each person at check in, this was not an issue, but the front desk worker made it clear to me she was not happy when I asked if she could please make sure that 1 from each box we provided was handed out (not our best idea having 2 types of bags I will admit..that was mostly on us, but they did not hide their frustration with me). Lastly, We were told after the wedding reception that all of our items would be left for us to grab at check out, behind the front desk. When we checked out and asked for our remaining items, this seemed to cause confusion, until we were taken into the back room, and found all of the items that were ours ourselves. All in all our experience was great, Mary and the function/wait staff were FABULOUS! I would highly recommend this venue, even with the front desk issues. Reviewed on 02-07-2015
Ambyre Dyson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-04-2015 Choosing the Colonial Hotel to hold our wedding ceremony and reception was by far the best decision I could have made! From our very first meeting to our actual wedding day, planning our wedding here could not have been easier! Mary Whitman, the wedding coordinator, was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was always available by email or phone to answer questions, and was so helpful. The venue itself is so incredibly convenient. We held our rehearsal dinner at The Colonial Grille within the hotel, and used the ballroom for both our ceremony and reception. The food for our rehearsal dinner was fantastic, and the restaurant manager Jack, was so attentive and was able to fulfill any request we had. On the day of the wedding, Mary took care of handling all of the set up, deliveries and vendors, I didn't have to worry about anything but getting ready with my bridesmaids and enjoying the day! The ceremony area was beautiful, and my photographer was able to use the lobby and staircase to take beautiful family portraits. The reception could not have run more smoothly, and Mary was always there to make sure our timeline was followed. The food at our wedding was absolutely delicious, so many of our guests commented on how good it was! The ballroom was set up beautifully for our reception. I was worried that our wedding of 155 people wouldn't fill out the large ballroom, but the set-up of the room was perfect, and there was plenty of room left for dancing. After the wedding, all of our guests who were staying overnight went back to the Colonial Grille, which had a DJ that night. It was great that we were able to continue the festivities after the reception! The suite that my husband and I stayed in was beautiful and so big! It made a great space for my bridesmaids and I to get ready and take some pictures before the ceremony. The other guests' rooms that we saw were all very nice as well, and our guests loved the breakfast buffet that was included with their stay. It was so nice to see everybody at breakfast the morning after the wedding! I really can't say enough good things about my wedding at The Colonial Hotel. It really was the perfect choice of venue! Ryan Pignatiello(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2014 My husband and I had our same-sex wedding at the Colonial this past weekend, and we just can't even put into words how wonderful everything was. From the very beginning the entire staff at the Colonial has been very helpful and accommodating. Mary and her staff are the best of the best and we absolutely loved working with everyone. We chose to do the middle tier package and the ease of choosing vendors along with this package was incredible. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here, and the end result is stunning. We chose to have our ceremony in the gardens of their sister location, The Chocksett Inn, and had the reception back at the Colonial itself. The recently redone ballroom is exquisite and is a perfect size for large and small parties. We had 100 guests and the felt very open and inviting. \r\rMy husband and I live in New York City and were searching for a place to get married near his family in Massachusetts. The Colonial is a great location for anyone in the Massachusetts area, but was also great as a New England \"destination\" wedding, as we considered ours to be since 90% of our guests came from out of state. Everyone at the Colonial and all of the vendors that we used were great at communicating by phone and making time for us on the few visits that we had to the area.\r\rI would absolutely recommend the Colonial Hotel to anyone who is considering it. We loved that all of our friends and family were in the same place, and really got to make it a whole wedding weekend instead of just one day. The food is top notch, and the decor is beautiful. All of the guest rooms are very classy and modern and the homey feel of the lobby and restaurant were just what we were looking for!\r\rPlease please feel free to ask me any specific questions, because I would love to share just how happy I was with my whole experience at the Colonial!\r\r Reviewed on 07-10-2014
Jen Gleason(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-09-2014 One of the reasons we chose the Colonial Hotel was because it was in my hometown and their packages included \"a lot of bang for your buck\". The middle package we picked included most of the cost of our cake (we had to pay an additional $125 to the bakery), all of our floral centerpieces, cake knife, toasting glasses, table linens, and a suite the night of your wedding. It's a better choice if you're having a larger wedding, because they have a $10,000 minimum. We had 150 guests. \r\rWe had our ceremony outdoors at the pagoda which was nicely decorated with fall items, but I wish the landscaping had been touched up a bit. There were some brown, dead plants around. The new tent, where we had our reception, was spacious and very pretty. Very elegant compared to your typical wedding tent, with a carpeted floor, wooden dance floor, and chandeliers. It can also be heated if it's a chilly evening. There's a cute courtyard area with a fountain outside of the tent. The rooms are a little pricey ($140 with the block discount), but newly renovated and cozy. We enjoyed the jacuzzi tub in the suite. Our guests also had a great time continuing the party in the hotel restaurant/bar after our reception.\r\rOur biggest issue was their lack of flexibility. When we booked the Colonial Hotel almost 2 years before our wedding, we asked if meal prices would go up at all. Mary, the hotel's wedding planner, told us that they may go up $1 a meal, $2 at most. They went up $4 a meal the next year! When we discussed our concern and discontent with the price jump, we asked if there was anything they could do to offset that cost...maybe give us the upgraded chairs for no extra cost or a room free of charge the night before the wedding...but they refused to do anything. My husband works for a major beer company, who gives their employees 25 cases of beer for their weddings. The Colonial would not let us just have the free beer at our reception, despite the secretary of the CEO of the beer company trying to work a deal with them.\r\rThe staff were professional, the food was very good, and overall our wedding was excellent...almost perfect! Kasey Schubert(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-06-2014 My now husband and I got married here in June in the tent and we had the absolute time of our lives. We were a bit worried before the wedding because the hotel seemed a bit disorganized and we would get many different answers about pricing, etc. However, everything pulled together so nicely and we were shocked at how beautiful everything looked under the tent and how organized the service was. We did open bar for the entirety of the event and the bartenders were AMAZING. The service was all around so awesome. When the wedding was over, my guests had a blast in the bar and the hotel was so accommodating and let my guests continue to hang out on the patio area. The only real problem we experienced, was a big mix up with room bookings. After a whole lot of going back and forth and he said she said, they finally refunded our money for 2 rooms that we didn't book. Overall, I definitely recommend the venue. It looked absolutely stunning and everyone had so much fun and we received many compliments. We also used the hotel for our rehearsal dinner and it was totally sub-par. The staff, especially Mary (the wedding coordinator), were wonderful - they were very attentive, responsive and willing to help any way they could. My husband and I have had tons of compliments on how beautiful and fun our wedding was, and also how great the food was. Looking back today, I am 100% glad that I chose to have my wedding at the Colonial.\r\rMy only suggestion to the hotel would be to give couples a list of items not allowed in the hotel when they sign their contracts - we had koozies as our favors, and almost couldn't give them out because apparently they aren't allowed in the hotel. The grand staircase and the outdoor gazebo make for gorgeous photographs, especially with the fall foliage that we had. The banquet staff was friendly and attentive, the food was phenomenal and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our only complaint was that it was difficult to get our questions answered by the sales staff to our satisfaction. The wedding package that we chose changed at least twice, price and amenities, between when we signed our contract and our wedding date. So, it was frustrating trying to figure out what was and wasn't still included in our package and things like that. Also, every single time we made a deposit or payment using a credit card they required a separate and new credit card authorization form, which I found rather redundant. Reviewed on 25-11-2012
