Lori Jaeschke(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2015 What a great venue and what wonderful service. Everyone we worked with for our reception needs was so helpful and friendly and they made everything we wanted happen. The food was fantastic, we had so many compliments from our guests. The evening flowed perfectly - everything was on time, and they were very attentive to our guests. We had a smaller wedding, and they were able to accommodate us with the perfect size room, that didn't feel too large or too small. Other venues we checked out didn't have that. I would highly recommend them for your reception needs. Reviewed on 05-09-2015

With a lot of traveling guests we required a venue with a hotel so people traveling could have a place nearby to stay. The hotel was clean and the staff was super nice. I loved my rain shower! They were also very nice to allow us to re-open our block for a couple of late adds which we really appreciated. The venue itself is a part of the hotel but not listed on the Knot to review. The communication wasn't amazing at some points waiting days to hear answers to our questions. We also had a reserved table of the grooms parents have to ask for food because their table was missed at dinner. Overall everyone was happy and loved the food and atmosphere. But just a couple instances where communication could've been better would've been nice. Reviewed on 08-09-2023
Sarah Lamers(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-09-2021 We had a great experience with Rock Garden. Lacey helped us through the process and answered every question that we had. We had some very strict instructions for the bar that were followed flawlessly - which we very much appreciated. I was a bit nervous reading all the reviews, but we had no issues and based on our experience we'd recommend working with Rock Garden again! Reviewed on 04-10-2021
Tammy Klimpke(other)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-06-2021 I am so thankful to the brides that provided honest information as it was very helpful in making a decision about a venue for my daughter’s wedding. It will definitely NOT be this one. Reviewed on 19-06-2021
Charlene Brandis(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2019 Overall we had a great wedding day. We choose to have both our wedding reception and ceremony at the Rock Garden. Since there are not that many reviews on this venue I wanted to give my detailed experience with the Rock Garden. The long story short. Make sure you go over every single detail with this venue and I'd recommend hire a professional to work with them. The venue itself was great, we loved our Reception hall. It was said to fit around 300 guests and we had 150, and that was perfect. There was confusion on the table layout, even though we had talked about it at our final meeting. They wanted to put tables on the dance-floor. Our (hired externally) day-of wedding coordinator fixed that up for me but it would have been a headache without her. All of the event staff was great and accommodating according to our coordinator. Not once did I see the event manager that we worked with leading up to the wedding. My biggest take away was thank god we hired a day-of coordinator because there was a ton that needed to be dealt with with the venue day-of.Everyone had compliments on the food and the bar service. However, it did take them a long time to serve (we had plated meals) and there was a mix up with our dinner time. The desserts and things were sort of hidden and set up awkward so many of our guests didn’t even know they were there.Leading up to the wedding, the event manager was mostly easy to get a hold of. I asked a lot of questions that I felt should have just been told to us. This is where a planner that knew what to ask would have been nice as there was no guidance from the venue. We were told we’d have access to the ceremony space to set up 2 hours in advance and it wasn’t available. We were told we would have access to the ceremony space to rehearse the night before and it wasn’t available. We were pushed around to even find a place to rehearse. Thank god we bought the extra “lock out” fee for the reception space, which the event manager told us we wouldn't need several time but its clear we did.The hotel room we were given was not one I would expect for a bride and groom. We found out that some of our guests were \"upgraded\" and received larger rooms with more bells and whistles than ours. We were not once told there were even any other options for our wedding night. When we met with the event manager, she described we would get a large suite near our reception hall and this was not at all what we got.We were provided with the whirlpool \"suite\" which was poolside. So we had screaming kids at our window first thing in the morning and all day while getting ready. We had to keep the curtains completely closed for privacy. The room was so small. And we paid a lot for what was an average room called a \"suite\". It also seemed like our wedding “block” was all over the place. Our guests seemed to be scattered all over the hotel. It was extremely disappointing. The front desk and the staff were all great and super nice and helpful when we needed them. And the pool is amazing, the kids had a blast there.Like I said, overall we had a great night and none of these small things hindered us. The venue took care of a lot of things, like food and drinks and service, because of their package. But I felt that for the price we paid for the top package our guest experience could have been better. I hope that this honest and detailed review will help future brides make an informed decision. Rachael Schubarth(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2019 I was excited about Rock Garden/Comfort Suites right after I booked. We looked at the facility, which has two ballrooms and chose one. I absolutely hated the second ballroom, which Lacey knew. We booked the first ballroom for our date well over a year and a half in advance to ensure we had the room we wanted. Our contract had the correct ballroom on it. But after booking, I started getting frustrated. I felt Lacey was unresponsive to my emails and most of the time I would have to send follow up emails to get a response. 6 months prior to our wedding date, we brought in a required payment and got a receipt for it and everything. They never pulled the money out of our account. We followed up multiple times and eventually were told to just pay the full amount the week of wedding. Whatever, that's fine. Then two days before the wedding, we are supposed to meet with Lacey. She comes out with her manager and the tell us they gave our ballroom to someone else!!!! Even after multiple emails to confirm the correct ballroom, I was told there was a \"computer mistake\" and our ballroom was given to another couple. Even though we had it booked well in advance of the other couple, since they had more people (don't think it was by much) the venue opted to give it to them. The solution was to give us the ballroom I absolutely hated. Yes, they did give us perks to try to make up for our mistake (add-ons to the package) which was generous. However, it didn't make up for the mistake and I hugely regret choosing Comfort Suites. They at least tried to make up for the mistake and the food was very good. Reviewed on 04-07-2019
Racheal Taylor(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2018 Used for hotel rooms because it was close to our venue. We booked 2 rooms for the bridal party for the night before and 1 king room for the night of our wedding. I had to call them 4 different times before they were able to comprehend the request and make it happen. And then when we came in to check in they had me and my fiance in a double queen and stated they were full and couldn't switch us. And now looking at my bank statements they charged me all wrong and so now I have to call them again. Reviewed on 12-10-2018

Kara Chamberlain(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-05-2016 We had ceremony and reception at the Rock Garden at the Comfort Suites. They came off very helpful and knowledgable, however we got different answers from different people. There were some things we had to verify multiple times and one we verified two days before wedding didn't get done- they were to reserve tables for immediate family and they didn't. They were great with having more chairs available for ceremony. We were able to set up ceremony the night before. I wanted cake on a table instead of being served so people could choose what flavor they wanted as we had 6 flavors (3 tiers, each had a top and bottom flavor so it would be confusing). They insisted on serving and said their servers would be able to tell guests the flavors. I told them the flavors as well as our cake person when it was delivered. On the night, only two options were served, VERY inconsistent sizes, they didn't know the flavors and the entire missing tier was found in the garbage not even cut at the end of the night. We were not happy. They insisted they did not throw it away and that someone in our group must have. Overall the day went well, they have a nice area outside to take pics. The few days after were a bit emotional though thinking about the mistakes. In the end they just seemed disorganised, which I heard from other people as well. Reviewed on 09-06-2016
Andrea Koehler(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2013 Kim was very helpful with making sure things ran smoothly during the planning process. The family style dinner was delicious, and the wait staff and bartenders were excellent and friendly. The only inconvenience was that we had to pay a $250 fee to have the room reserved for the entire day, and we couldn't get in until 11:00. Because of this, I was unable to set anything up myself, and had to recruit family members to do it for me. Other than that, we were very satisfied! Reviewed on 06-10-2013

Cassie Yaeger(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2012 Absolutely beautiful venue. Pricing is pretty steap and hidden costs, taxes, and gratuity is through the roof. Plus, the service is shotty in that one day they tell you one thing and the next they tell you another thing. There is no consistency and I felt like it was whatever they felt like that day ruled over customer service. Again, gorgeous venue but not sure when it's all said and done if it is 100% worth it. Kimberly Bockin(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-05-2012 Our experience here was horrible, which is unfortunate because it was our wedding night. It started when we tried to check in. My brother and sister-in-law's room reservation was lost even though their credit card had been charged for it. They ended up finding them a room (even though the hotel was supposedly sold out). Then we checked in and went to our room... we didn't get the whirlpool suite that we were promised according to our room block contract. My husband went to complain and they said that's all they had, they made it sound like a favor that we got a steam shower instead. We made our reservation as far in advance as they would let us and somehow they didn't have what was in our signed contract. Then, our best man checked and he DIDN'T book a suite and somehow had a whirlpool suite. So, we traded with him. But, it doesn't end there. When my parents went to take all of our gifts to our room towards the end of the night, it was roasting in there. They cranked up the A/C hoping it would cool off by the time we got there. But, it didn't. The A/C was broken and there was no outside window in the room even. It was unbareable. The front desk couldn't fix it and gave us a box fan. We used the whirlpool briefly with COLD water in it to cool off. We spent most of the night in other people's rooms... not typically what you want to do on your wedding night. It sucked. And we heard the next day from two other guests that their reservations were messed up too. This place does not have it together. Reviewed on 14-06-2012

They did not get the dinners out in 7 minutes like promised and forgot the best man's dinner however they were serving 300 people. The food was delicious. I recommend the salmon and chicken cordon bleu. Debi Jose was a pleasure to work with as well. One suggestion I would have it make sure your guests book their rooms in the wedding block to get the discounted rate and make sure they are aware of the price. The front desk tried charging many guest more than promised. Reviewed on 09-10-2011

They made sure to have all they notes typed up before hand and then the day of the wedding they confirmed everything with my mom instead of me (as I asked since I had a lot on my mind) After confirming all the little details they didn't have to ask when to cut the cake or when to stop bringing out more food, (we had an all you can eat family style meal) they just knew and it was a big weight off my shoulders! The food was delicious and I didn't hear any complaints about the meal, all of our guests loved it and no one went home hungry. As the bride and groom, we received a complimentary meal at the 1951 restaurant, a complimentary presidential, whirlpool suite, the head table got a free champagne toast and there were many other amenities we received because we chose to have our wedding on a Friday.
