Common House is a modern social club and event venue, located on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, that provides the perfect backdrop for rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, and weddings alike. The venue boasts a colorful design, with particular attention dedicated to crafted food and beverages. When booking with Common House, couples have access to the full-service catering for both seated and reception events, waitstaff, a sommelier, full bar services, custom-built tables, chairs, glassware, and flatware. The main event space at Common House, Vinegar Hall, is a banquet-style hall that features large windows and an artistic design. Depending on the layout, the space can accommodate up to 70 people seated, or up to 100 people for a cocktail-style reception, providing the perfect rehearsal dinner to welcome party celebration. Looking to host a large celebration? Common House also offers full house parties, accommodating up to 200 guests and giving couples 3 floors (including the rooftop!) for a private celebration. For each event, the culinary team, led by Chef de Cuisine David Root, will create a menu for the occasion, sourcing fresh, seasonal ingredients. Serving styles can accommodate family-style as well as servers for a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres. Our team will work with each couple to create a menu that suits all dietary restrictions, including gluten-free, lactose-free, no pork, nut-free, vegan, and vegetarian. Couples are welcome to provide their own outside cake from a favorite bakery.

Such a great place to book! I mostly talked with Madison throughout the process. She is so friendly and welcoming. We eloped out west and wanted to keep things more casual so we went with a cocktail-style reception and everything went over so well! The food was delicious and everyone working was so kind. The interior of the building is fun and eclectic- not a single bad spot for photos. There was some light rain that night but the rooftop is partially covered so guests could still go up for some fresh air. Would totally recommend this spot over and over again!

We worked with Madison Collier, who was incredible, to host a rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding! She was on top of her game, even when we were not - she responded quickly, tailored the space and contract to what we needed (we booked a smaller party than they would typically host), confirmed food menus, and was very clear about what to expect from her events team and what was expected of us. We had zero worries during the actual wedding weekend. We were completely hands off, and seeing how communicative she and her team were leading up to our rehearsal dinner gave us peace of mind. Our guests loved the food, service was professional and non-intrusive, and the space was perfect for gathering our close friends for dinner and speeches. Thank you so much, Common House team!

Wedding Date 01-01-2021
Due to CVOID-19, my now husband and I had to postpone our wedding multiple times. Eventually we decided to have a microwedding about 2 months before our (new) wedding date. After meeting with Bailey and Madison at Common House, we knew that this would be the perfect place to get married! They helped us put together a microwedding together in a short period of time, and handled all the curveballs from the pandemic with swift and impressive professionalism. On our actual wedding day, everybody at CH were so wonderful and made sure that we were safe in regards to social distancing. Also the food and drinks were amazing!!!While getting married with 8 guests on a rainy day in January was not our original plan, the Common House did an INCREDIBLE job at making our wedding absolutely perfect.
