My husband and I wanted a welcoming and unique wedding venue that was not a traditional ballroom and that had style/personality. We were feeling like giving up on wedding venue searching until we finally came across Common House in Richmond. From initial touring, to tastings, and the big day, Liz and the Common House team hit it out of the park. Their customer service is top notch and everyone we encountered throughout the wedding process was helpful and welcoming. A huge benefit of Common House is the beautiful interior spaces. We had rain so we used them thoroughly. The food and drink was incredible and we got many compliments from guests. Their wedding package allowed us to get so much from just one vendor point of contact (a big perk!). Thanks so much for a great day and one of our favorite new memories! Reviewed on 06-05-2023

My wedding was on 12/10 at Common House. My husband Carter and I cannot say enough great things about this venue. There was severe weather and a tornado warning on this evening which greatly affected our ceremony. Not only did the venue offer to cover the charges associated with our ceremony, but staff was more than accommodating to our needs during the entire night. They made me feel calm, taken care of, and comfortable despite the last-minute decisions that were being made. The evening went smoothly and we enjoyed every second!!Leading up to our wedding, Liz was extremely attentive to my needs. She was always super prompt in answering all of my emails and providing all the help we needed. Not to mention, she is a pro at dealing with difficult family members! Thanks for all of your help and patience, Liz! Reviewed on 13-12-2023

We spent $30K at Common House to celebrate our marriage and it was worth every penny. We started with a cocktail hour, then moved downstairs for a seated dinner, followed by 2.5 hours of dancing. We were attracted to Common House for its location and ambiance as well as their ability to do it all in house. We kept the decorations simple (no tablecloths, votives only on the tables). Dinner was served per table family style and the food was superb. I saw staff bring more food to guests as requested and I heard repeatedly how good the food was. Excellent food can be hard to do when feeding 135 people and Common House nailed it. The real winners of the night were the staff. Liz and Alise, lead coordinators, were responsive to each email or phone call leading up to the event and on site throughout the evening. There was plenty of wait staff to serve 18 tables of guests - bringing food, pouring wine, bussing prior courses. The bars were staffed fully right up to the end of our night. Never was there a line. This is a place where I’ve seen venues fail and Common House came through. Lastly, I was floored by the attention we, the bridal couple, were afforded. Early in the cocktail hour, while we were receiving guests, a waitress offered us a plate of our hors d'oeuvre and when we couldn't eat them then, offered to put them aside in the kitchen. Of course, we didn’t get to them before we had to head downstairs for dinner. I really wanted a bacon wrapped scallop and was thrilled to find some at my dinner table. From the time we arrived until we closed down, waiters or bartenders were checking to see what we needed - food, drinks, water, etc. Never did I have to go in search of more wine or water. I didn’t know what I needed but the staff did and delivered consistently throughout the night. They responded quickly to my seating chart error and adjusted on the fly when we decided against a ceremonial cake cutting. Handled our late afternoon table placement request with grace, making it all work. Bill and I have no regrets on our choice and highly recommend Common House. Reviewed on 07-08-2023
Mariita Campos(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-04-2023 Common House Richmond exceeded our expectations. Liz and Elyze were both so incredibly helpful during the planning process and our tasting. Liz received so many emails from me and she was gracious and kind when answering my questions. Elyse was present during our tasting and helped us think through food and wine details for the day. She was honest about what would work best in the space. She was also present on the day of and was easily accessible but was also clearly busy working behind the scenes. The staff was a fun bunch that were on point the entire evening and always a step ahead of what we needed. The chefs were eager to try new things when we requested items that were off the menu. Their execution on the day-of was flawless. The venue has such great character, is fun and the amenities are modern. The flexibility of having the rooftop over the courtyard was so important for my day where the rain was on and off. The roof was quickly retracted when the sun came out, but was put back up when the rain started. The day after people could not stop talking about the service, food and the uniqueness of the space. I would not change a single thing about my experience and am so happy that we chose Common House to celebrate our big day. Reviewed on 19-04-2023
Emily Charreun(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2022 Common House was the perfect venue for our wedding. Liz Arline is AH-maz-ing! She was super communicative, kind, professional, and such a pleasure to work with every step of the way. Seriously, she is wonderful. Common House was the perfect mix of Richmond charm with the modern amenities we were looking for. The staff was wonderful and polite. CH has a well-established process to make sure your day goes as smooth as possible. The space itself is dynamic and you can personalize it in a way that best fits you and your partner's vision. We highly recommend Common House. Thanks Common House for helping us have the day we dreamed of. Reviewed on 11-07-2022
Courtney Beale(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-05-2022 We could not have been more impressed and happy with Common House as our wedding venue. Our event coordinator, Liz, was on top of everything and really helpful as we went through the planning process. She shared the best practices learned from previous events and helped us integrate them into the vision for our wedding. What's great is that Common House has a kitchen and staff on site, so it totally eliminated the process of having to find a caterer. The food was also incredible, and all our guests raved about it. What's also great is that the venue has both indoor and outdoor event space, so in the event of rain (which we encountered), we were able to quickly change plans to mitigate poor weather for the ceremony and reception while still being able to utilize some of the outdoor areas. Overall, I cannot recommend Common House enough. If you're looking to get married, or host any event, in Richmond, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not visiting and seeing what they can offer. Reviewed on 09-05-2022
Rachel Mathes(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-04-2022 We fell in love with the idea of having our wedding at CH before it was even finished with construction but we could see the vision and signed on with Shelby to have an April wedding in their inaugural year. Pandemic hit and we had to greatly pivot and the staff there was super helpful in transitioning plans to allow us to still get married on our original date with a more intimate event that was beautiful. They welcomed us back for an anniversary vow renewal where we were finally able to celebrate with a big party and all we can say is WOW! The planning process with Liz was so easy and she was wonderful at communicating everything and answering all my questions. On the day of, all of the CH staff were SO accommodating, extremely pleasant, and made us feel like royalty. The food, set-up, staff… everything was beyond perfect and exceeded all expectations! Alanna Trivelli(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-10-2020 I could type forever raving about Common House. My husband and I were forced to postpone our initial wedding date and change venues. We booked Common House before the construction was finished and were a little nervous about the venue. Shelby and the event team eased every concern we had about the construction timeline and the venue was absolutely perfect. Shelby was so responsive and worked so hard to make our wedding perfect, despite a global pandemic, newly opening a business, and of course all of the little things that pop up along the way. The space is beautiful and classic, with the ability to make it whatever you want. Our pictures from each floor, including the roof, are simply stunning. The staff was the most accommodating staff I have ever seen. I am not joking when I say almost every guest at our wedding commented on how incredible the staff was. One staff member was even running to get me a mint at my request before I walked down the aisle! They took every precaution and followed all recommendations due to COVID and made sure we felt safe. The food was delicious and they even ordered special liquor for my husband's family. They provided umbrellas when we faced some unexpected rain and took care of even little things that absolutely shouldn't fall onto the venue staff. I absolutely recommend Common House as a ceremony and reception site. They will work so hard to make your event perfect. Reviewed on 02-11-2020
Cortney McEniry(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2021 We have not had our wedding(s) here yet, so I will update after that. Shelby, the Common House events coordinator, has gone above and beyond to make the booking process for our microwedding and one year anniversary party easy, fun, and comfortable. Common House is an all-inclusive venue, so this is where you want to go if, like me, you don't want to spend your whole engagement planning! The space is GORGEOUS and adaptable to your needs, the chef makes approachable food that's approachable yet elevated, and the whole team is super sweet and on top of their game.
