Defiance Ridge Vineyards is a winery wedding venue located in Defiance, MO. With more than 42 acres of land, this property houses a lush vineyard, green landscapes, and a peaceful lake area. It also features breathtaking views of the Missouri River Valley, creating a stunning backdrop to your day's events. The vineyards are also a romantic venue for an intimate vow renewal ceremony to celebrate your love all over again. Lauren Bradley is the event director at Defiance Ridge Vineyards, and she loves helping people bring their wedding vision to life. She provides support from the very beginning, guiding you through the entire process. She and the events team here have years of experience in helping people celebrate their milestones. They want to help you create memories you can treasure for a lifetime. The winery is just 10 minutes away from Highway 40/64 and is also close to Highway 94. Defiance Ridge Vineyards can comfortably accommodate events with up to 300 guests. You can choose from both indoor and outdoor spaces to host your ceremony and reception. You can host a tranquil ceremony by the lake for an effortlessly breathtaking backdrop. Outdoor festivities are also possible at the Gazebo, Terrace, and Veranda. The Pavilion, meanwhile, offers a climate-controlled setting for indoor events, which you can transform with lighting and decor. A full catering menu is offered by the vineyard's culinary team for added convenience when planning your day. The chef is happy to help you choose the menu that best fits your vision for the day, with each dish made from seasonal, fresh produce.

This was our first choice of venue and we were so happy to be lucky enough to get a date when we wanted. Everything was beautiful. Michelle was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process, and she really made the day seem perfect. The food and wine is fantastic as well. Highly highly recommend if looking for a vineyard wedding!

My now husband and I had our wedding reception at Defiance Ridge Vineyards in August this year. DRV has always felt like home to us and celebrating our wedding day here made the day 10x better! Everything was absolutely beautiful! The staff was absolutely fantastic! They made sure that everything was taken care of, organized, and that each step ran smoothly. So many of our guests felt as if they were a part of the DRV community due to such a spectacular environment. And the food was amazing! I highly recommend brides and grooms to meet with the staff and coordinator to experience a perfect wedding day just like we did!

We had our wedding at DRV earlier this month, and it was an absolute dreamy day! Lauren and the team were absolutely amazing, kind, 5 very informative! The food was to die for!!!!! My guests LOVED the food! I wish we had more time to set up the reception from the time they closed to the public, to the time we could start setting up but thankfully, my family and wedding party jumped in and brought my dream to life! DRV has absolutely beautiful grounds and a super beautiful and unique reception hall! Everything turned out beautiful. We are in awe of how perfect our day went and can't thank Lauren enough! DRV will forever hold a magical place in our hearts ❤️

I had my dream wedding at DRV! Everything was perfect. Lauren was simply amazing, so kind, fun, and accommodating. I wish the length of reception could have been longer because I didn’t want the night to end. Ceremony was outside on the patio and beautiful! The reception space was great, plenty of space and perfect for my whimsical setting. The food was AMAZING. All my guests raved about how good the food was. All of the staff were kind and helpful. Everything went so smoothly. Ceremony and reception at the same location, catering and bar service all done by DRV made everything a breeze for planning and made for a very relaxing wedding day knowing Lauren had all the details taken care of. The bridal suite was very nice and a great spot for our wedding party to gather after pictures and mini dance party before the ceremony.Great cottage core aesthetic for bride/bridal party getting ready pictures. The grounds and vineyards were great for pictures. I have zero negative comments. Our day was perfect and even my anti-wedding husband said everything was so perfect and he had the best time!

Within minutes of visiting Defiance Ridge, my husband and I knew this was the place we had to get married. Lauren, our coordinator was absolutely AMAZING and made our day everything we had dreamed and more. They even catered to our special meal request to have breakfast for dinner and it was a huge hit with our guests. Even with a little sprinkle of rain, the team was able to get our ceremony set up outside and started just in time for a rainbow and sunset. If you have it in your budget and want to surprise your guest I would highly recommend doing the fireworks. It was such a special moment and the display was magical (and a perfect photo opportunity). I seriously can’t say enough good things about this place and the people. Throughout the whole process everyone we talked to was professional and friendly. The whole venue is gorgeous and has the perfect atmosphere for a wedding. The only thing I wish they could do is figure out how to reverse time so we could relive it one more time.Thank you Lauren and Defiance Ridge Team! You truly made our day special!

Michelle was very detailed and organized in helping us plan our day. She was so flexible and helped the whole event run smoothly. We were there on a cold day in November with about 150 guests. The venue was plenty warm enough, the lighting was perfect, and the dance floor was big and open. The transition from the open winery for the public until 5pm to our reception at 6pm was seamless. The staff was gracious and helpful the whole night including helping us take down our decorations at the end. The food was delicious. I would recommend Michelle and Defiance Ridge to anyone looking to plan a beautiful wedding any time of year.

Michelle made sure to connect and guide all of my other vendors like DJ, photographer, etc. I didn't have to think about anything the day of except just having a great time. They take care of everything at the venue from food to drinks to linens and chairs. This made wedding planning such a breeze so that we didn't have to book individual vendors. This was such a wonderful venue, and Michelle was so great to work with. Even from the first meeting with her, she answered all of our questions before we even asked. If I could give DRV 10 stars, I would. We viewed two other wineries and upon going to DRV, we both walked out saying, that's the one. We love the ambiance, the views, the ceremony area and the reception space. The food was AMAZING and we received so many compliments from our guests regarding how good it was! The bar service was also on point. Several of our other vendors even commented on how accommodating and friendly every DRV teammember was while they were setting up. Last but not least, we had such a positive experience working with Michelle, the wedding coordinator. She gave us great advice, was always available for any and all questions throughout the planning process (never making us feel bad for asking so many questions), and was a great point person to help us navigate everything leading up to the big day. She is seriously amazing and DRV is lucky to have her. We would absolutely recommend DRV for your wedding ceremony and reception, or just the reception. We could not have asked for a more perfect day and that's thanks to the team at DRV.

I knew I didn’t have to worry because she is so great at her job. I had planned for an outside ceremony, but we had a cold day in March, so we were able to have a beautiful ceremony inside and Michelle and her team quickly flipped the room. We got so many compliments on how good the food was, and how much fun our guests had at the reception. I couldn’t imagine a better venue. Everything was perfect!

The first one was a super small last minute ceremony because of covid but we had a big celebration at the same place the next year. The event coordinator, Michelle, was so helpful and really made us feel like we were in good hands. The winery is beautiful and there are so many great places to take pictures. The food was so good it was hard to choose what to put on the menu for our events. I loved the indoor-outdoor space that was perfect for the uncertain weather in October. Everything was amazing I highly recommend getting married there or just going on any other day for great wine and food!

She made sure we understood everything and had all our bases covered. Additionally, because of COVID we chose to reschedule from October 2020 to Nov 2021. We were extremely lucky she had dates available, and we were so grateful that she was so flexible with our decision to push it back. She even stayed part of the night to make sure everything was running smoothly! The food was also absolutely amazing, everything we tasted at the menu tastings was delicious it made it hard to choose! They were luckily very accommodating with the food menu offering vegetarian, kids, and were sensitive to the food allergies of our guests. Everyone loved the food and our signature cocktail, a sangria, was a big hit too!The room is super spacious with the fireplaces on either side of the room, which kept things toasty even in November. Additionally, she allowed us to take some beautiful pictures on the property beforehand!Everyone was talking about how beautiful everything was! Everything was simply perfect! My only wish is that the night would have lasted longer because it seemed like the night just flew by!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Defiance Ridge Vineyards. This was only the third venue we toured and we knew immediately we wanted to get married here. It’s beautiful as it is, the food is impeccable and the staff was extremely friendly. Big shout out to Michelle, the wedding coordinator, who went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect! I don't have enough amazing words to describe this day. Michelle and her team accommodated every single one of my needs. The bridal suite was amazing and she accommodating letting us in early so we could finish in time. Michelle was great to communicate with via email. She gave great input when needed that helped make things easier with the photographer and DJ. Michelle made me feel at ease through out the whole day and into the night. She knew where to find people, when we needed to be certain places and how to make sure things ran smoothly. The venue was absolutely gorgeous. We had access to use the whole vineyard for pictures and Michelle made sure to have the staff clean the leaves from around the property. The food was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Days after the event, guests were messaging my husband and I letting us know how amazing the food was. The bar was staffed well and the wine was a hit as always. I would get married here 1000x over. Michelle even worked with my mom to surprise my husband and I with a firework show. This is the best venue and I am so happy I got to spend the best day of my life at my favorite place. We are so very thankful for the staff at Defiance Ridge.

She's also enjoyable to work with! We had a lot fun in the planning process and working with DRV. We were overwhelmed with the table arrangements and all the options available, but Michelle helped SO much. Every time we reached out with questions, she had multiple solutions. The venue is absolutely beautiful, it had everything we could possibly wanted. The view and setting is picturesque, all of our guests were impressed! As we're getting our pictures back, I'm just stunned. The reception area is beautiful, the open sides allow for views of the grounds, the string lights give the best ambiance, and they were super flexible on the layout and setup of the area.The food and drinks were incredible. Numerous guests keep reaching out to us to tell us that this was the best wedding food they've ever had! Again, I cannot say enough positive things about Defiance Ridge. It was the setting I've dreamed about for our wedding and I'm just so grateful for the entire experience. We will definitely be back as guests and will be celebrating all future anniversaries here!

I don't know whether or call it luck, fate, or something else, but we had the most perfect wedding here.The staff – especially Michelle – are absolutely amazing. Everyone is so sweet and helpful. Wedding planning and the big event itself were a breeze in big part because of them. Michelle answered all my questions and was there the day of to make sure everything ran smoothly.On top of that, you really get it all at Defiance Ridge: gorgeous views, the ideal outdoor ceremony spot, and an air-conditioned reception space that lets you keep that outdoor feel while staying cool in the summer. Our wedding happened to be on a record-breakingly hot day in June (I think it hit 100) and everyone said the reception was great.And the food! Our guests were so impressed with their meals, everything at Defiance Ridge is delicious. Michelle and the kitchen staff are super accommodating of dietary restrictions. Plus you get to take advantage of all the delicious wines and craft beers.It's also LGBTQ+ friendly for any other same-sex couples looking a venue. Everyone on-site was extremely welcoming and happy to host an event with two brides.I genuinely do not have one bad thing to say about the place!

There was plenty of room for our guests to roam but the dining room was still intimate enough for a perfect reception. The food was delicious and the bar was able to make my singature drinks without a problem. The best part about DRV is Michelle, the event coordinator. She is kind, flexible, and great to work with. I am so happy she was there to help me along the way and the day of, especially having to plan through a pandemic and needing extra questions answered. I highly recommend DRV as a wedding venue. First of all, my husband & I want to say thank you to Michelle & the Defiance Ridge Vineyards team for making our wedding reception spectacular!We got married on 4/10/21 and only have great things to say about our experience with Defiance Ridge Vineyards. Michelle, the wedding coordinator, was very sweet & helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process & on our big day. She listened to our requests, understood the vibe we wanted for our wedding reception & helped our wedding day go smoothly. She paid attention to the details that mattered to us. The weather was rainy/cold/yucky, but none of our guests noticed because they were having such a great time. We had planned fireworks & Michelle was flexible throughout the evening to ensure we got the firework show we wanted despite the bad weather! The firework show was awesome & definitely worth the money. Our guests loved it & it was a special moment for my husband & I, not to mention the awesome photo op! Additionally, we got so many compliments on the food at the reception. So many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they ever had. Also, the alcohol selection was more abundant than at a typical wedding venue, which we appreciated. With the upgraded package, we had all domestic beers, seltzer’s, craft beers, 6 wine choices & all top shelf liquors. There was something for everyone! My husband & I are so happy we chose Defiance Ridge Vineyards as our wedding reception venue. We had so much fun & we know our guests did too! The big fireplace, the indoor/outdoor feel, the string lights & the big dance floor were the details that contributed to the wedding reception we always imagined. We made great memories & will talk about this night for years to come. We would definitely recommended Defiance Ridge Vineyards for anyone looking for a beautiful, fun & spacious venue. She was prompt, responsive, SO SWEET, and when we would pop in for lunch, she made sure we were taken care of! The day of is always crazy busy, and that girl worked her tail off! Michelle at Defiance Ridge was great to work with! Very timely responses and helped us navigate all the COVID regulations. Our wedding day was perfect with fireworks to end the night! Everyone highly complimented the scenery, food and fireworks show. We got way more than what we anticipated for the money!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Defiance Ridge Vineyards is! My husband and I knew very quickly that this is where we wanted to have our wedding. The staff is super accommodating, kind, personable and quick to do whatever they can for you! Everyone there treats you like a friend. Working with Michelle was absolutely wonderful. She's will make sure your day is perfect, and give you all the advise and guidance you need to make the right decisions for you and your day, and make sure everything goes off without a hitch. The grounds are beautiful, there are so many places to get amazing pictures! Not only did I have my wedding here, but my bachelorette party started here. Our friends and family that attending the bachelorette could not stop talking about how wonderful it was and how excited they were for the wedding! Our wedding was in November and our guests are still talking about it and many of them have been back! I would recommend DRV for any event, but especially a wedding!

We recently got married at Defiance Ridge on 12/14/19. Our Event Coordinator, Megan, was amazing. The staff was very quick to get all of our food served. The bar service was also quick and I got so many compliments on how good the drinks were. If you are looking for a beautiful and spacious venue this is the way to go. Also, this place was budget friendly especially for a winery. We had a blast and everything went so smoothly.

Michelle, the Event Coordinator, made planning our ceremony and reception at Defiance Ridge Vineyard so easy. She gave my husband and I such a confidence in the venue. Ryan and I like many couples had many questions and Michelle answered all our emails very punctually and made time to meet and talk in person too. But not only was Michelle great during the planning but her and the rest of the staff at Defiance Ridge went above and beyond on our actual wedding day. Everyone was very attentive and Michelle worked like secret ninja behind the scenes. One of the great things about Defiance is there ability to have a Plan B or indoor option for inclimate weather. We did have to decide to go with our Plan B the morning of the wedding due to rain. And the switch went off without a hitch. Many of the guest even commented on how swiftly the staff changed the space over. My husband and I would definitely recommend anyone in the market for a wedding venue to check out Defiance Ridge Vineyard. Staff was amazing to work with, the scenery is beautiful,and the food was amazing.

May 25, 2019 wedding was a complete service failure. Over promise and under deliver on many levels from planner absence to inadequate staff for the size of wedding party (170 people). Bar inside venue that was reported to be open for the event was not, forcing people to go outside venue to wine tasting area for drinks. Line was 12 people deep waiting over ten minutes as the one bar tender was overwhelmed. Owner does not take a personal interest ensuring event runs smoothly. I could go in but I think this gets the message across. I strongly recommend against this venue for any large-special event.

Lovely place for lunch, but before you book a wedding or special event, be sure to write in the contract: \"Event Manager and Event Coordinator will be present at your rehearsal and wedding/event, and will perform only the function of manager/coordinator.\" Illness prevented the event coordinator from working my daughter's wedding, and the front of house manager Lynn was provided as the substitute. Except she was also serving dinner and working behind the bar, resulting in a serious lack of service, and quite a bit of stress and confusion. Also be sure to write in the contract: \" The bar in the pavilion will be open and staffed during the event.\" Despite several verbal assurances from various employees (Michelle, the former event coordinator, Trevor, another manager, and Lynn), that this would happen, it was not open at the wedding, where over 160 guests had to walk into the tasting bar to be served by one bartender. Most importantly, write in your contract: \"Excellent service will be provided by enough staff to serve your wedding or special event.\" While most wedding venues would consider this common practice, at Defiance Ridge, if it is not written in the contract, it is not provided. Unfortunately, several attempts to request the owner offer a partial refund or even an accounting of responsibility or apology were futile, despite the fact the owner was not present at the wedding (gift cards were offered as a sign of \"goodwill\"). His reply to our letters was that Defiance Ridge fulfilled it's contractual obligation. This is the most beautiful venue! There are so many options for pictures and the house for bride/bridesmaids to get ready is lovely! Lisa, the coordinator, is so helpful and responsive. We have been patrons of defiance ridge since I was little my mother knew the original owner and I’ve always had a blast hanging out there. The venue changed hands and it was even more beautiful than before. However we’re starting to question the new staff and management. our wedding planner was Michelle she was amazing even got me wine slushees they the best part The day of the wedding was amazing and everything was going great as planed until the food. There propane tank wouldn’t work so they couldn’t cook the food, we were told they had back up plans on the way and should take one hour. We thought this was fine after all things happen and they were working on fixing it they just needed an hour, however it took 3 hours to get the food and half of my guests never received food. Which was amazing once they were received. One of my bridesmaids asked a staff questions about it and she snapped at her until she said I was the one asking not her, the staffs demeanor immediately changed and she rushed off to get answers. The cake was the next issue, after getting tired of waiting for all of the food we decided to entertain our guests by cutting the cake, I had over 200 guests and enough cake for all of them. They served the cake but only one sheet of it they didn’t serve the other flavors and they sent me home with 2.5 sheet cakes why they didn’t serve more if it I don’t have any idea but I wasted so much cake and money cuz the staff couldn’t figure out how to serve cake. Because it was 9 pm before my guests received dinner we asked the dj and photographer to stay an extra hour and they did (originally had them till 10 asked them to stay till 11). But my parents asked the place if they would compensate us somehow since we had so many issues, they asked them to pay for the extra hour of dj and photograph so our guests could actually have a chance to dance and have some fun but they said no. We also had ordered a nacho bar to be set out towards the end of the night that went to waste they put the nacho bar out at 1030 pm guests were leaving and some were just finishing dinner, it ended up being another waste of money because guests either were just starting their dinner or leaving. So instead of offering to remove those off our price list or paying for the dj they instead offered my OUT OF TOWN/state guests a free wine tasting (worth about $5 ) none of my guests were ever going to return it made no sense. So my parents asked for them to give us a discount/refund because they didn’t keep there promises to us and feed our guests or have things run smoothly again they said no. At this point I had, had hungry guests, wasted cake, more expensive dj and photographer and a wasted nacho bar and they still said no to our reasonable demands. As the bride I was kept in the dark for most of these going in’s until after the wedding so I couldn’t complain on the day of (how it should be ) they told my parents that we should have told them that we were having so many issues on the day of so they could fix it then. But they knew about all of the problems. I was disappointed for the way the management acted after the fact. All negatives aside my guests all had an amazing time and I loved my wedding day. I enjoyed myself a lot and was able to overlook the food problem for a short while.Being one of their first weddings since changing hands I think for the most part the execution of the event went well the beauty of the event was perfect we recomend using

I highly recommend Defiance Ridge for a wedding venue. Our wedding was beautiful! Michelle, the events coordinator, was so wonderful to work with and made the whole process stress free.

The people at Wine Country Gardens are great! We got so many compliments on how good the food was and how well the bartenders mixed the drinks! We had to move the ceremony inside due to rain and they got it done in minutes. I really loved that there were so many places to take pictures at the venue and that we got the whole site after 4pm. \r\rThe only downside was that we did not get the vegetarian plates that we requested. It was supposed to be something like pasta primavera. This situation was partially my fault because I forgot to tell them what tables to put vegetarian dishes. However, when we came up to a member of the staff just minutes after dinner started and asked if we could still have the vegetarian plates we ordered, a staff member just went over to the buffet and grabbed everything that was not meat. Sides are not a full meal to a vegetarian and I fear that we offended our several vegetarian guests. Also, I wish the venue had had a contract. That way both parties know what is expected of both the venue and the bride and groom. Overall, though - loved it!!

we couldn't have found a better venue for our daughters June 2015 wedding! Wine Country Gardens was outstanding, venue, food, service, atmosphere, everything! Chris, the owner, was so easy to work with and always ready to answer questions, provide guidance and just be so helpful! Her staff was great! Our daughter and son in law had the wedding of their dreams! I'd recommend WCG to anyone and everyone! I had my wedding at this venue and it was absolutely GORGEOUS. This place is stunning, no doubt about it. The only complaint I have is that the sale coordinator, Chris, is a little unresponsive. In my experience you have to contact her twice in order to get a response. But the day of, everything went great. Food was amazing and of course the grounds are beautiful. I had my rehearsal dinner and reception at the wine country gardens. It was very beautiful but I had some issues. First and foremost, I was told I would be able to decorate the night before if I booked my rehearsal dinner there (this was a MUST for me when chosing my venue. I was later informed that they double booked the day and booked another reception that didn't end until a half hour after my ceremony started! Needless to say all of my decorations didn't get put up and I was very horrified. I also never got an appology from the owner, which really was all I wanted. Also, I was told I could play the first dance song from an ipod only to find out during the reception that it would be nearly impossible (though I luckily had some persistant bridesmaids). \rOverall, make sure anything you want is written in the contract. \rLastly, the workers were VERY nice and helpful.

They are very flexible in meeting with clients and provided great service up to the day of the wedding. The service the night of the wedding I felt was A-Ok. I had a few minor complaints from guests after the event. My only complaint: I tried to get a bottle of beer after the bar switched from open bar to cash bar, and having a wedding gown on I didn't really have a pocket to have cash on me. When I ordered my beer, the bartender rudely reminded me that it was now cash bar and I needed to pay for my beer before she would give it to me...pretty embarrassing! They could have simply added it to the tab for the night if they were really concerned about getting paid for the beer. But for the industry and how much we paid to have this venue, if I were the bartender I would have just handed the beer to the bride and said congratulations. Overall, a good experience

Whats nice about this place is that there is an indoor and outdoor area so you dont have to worry about the possibility of rain. The winery is gorgeous with tons of flowers outside and a great view of the river valley (it sits up high on a hill). Chris, the wedding coordinator was very laid back and easily adapted to fit my needs. The only negative thing i have to say about this place is that things seemed a little disorganized the day of the wedding (we had to rush to get the tables ready before the reception because we couldn't set up ahead of time because they have regular winery customers during the day). The price is very reasonable as well and the food was great!

Chris offered wonderful suggestions which were helpful during the planning process. I read the other reviews and I wish I could say the same....I couldn't get the sales manager to respond to any of my e-mails. I would e-mail a question regarding our upgraded menu and would not recieve a response for over 2 weeks. When I would send a follow up email and my question was still not answered. So after three months of trying to get a menu and price from her I gave up and cancelled the event. She didn't respond to that e-mail either so after another 2 weeks my fiance called her and she agreed to return our deposit. It was suppose to take one week but after two weeks he made another phone call. She said she would mail it and we should receive it in a week again. When we received the check it was made out to someone else. We called about the error and her response was, \"then who's wedding did I cancel?\". \r\rI feel I was very patient and gave her ample time to respond to my e-mails. I would never recommend this venue due to the unprofessional service we received.

Absolutely Stunning Venue, best food I've ever had at a wedding!!! The owner Chris was very down to earth and so nice and easy to work with. I would only suggest hashing out all the details with Chris and the guy who coordinates things the day of the reception ahead of time, I think there was a little miscommunication there,He seemed to ask my mom lots of questions that she didn't know about, questions about food and decor details I had already set up before hand; otherwise it was absolutely perfect!!!

The place itself was amazing!! The lead person there needs to work on being a little more flexible. They are just getting used to having weddings their so they are not pro's at it. With this said they did a great job in the end. Wish i could have tasted food ahead of time but im glad I trusted them, tasty food :)

Service really needs to improve, no one from the winery spoke to me or my husband all evening, did not make sure the head table was taken care of at all, did not have room properly set up.

Chris and the staff at Wine Country Gardens were wonderful! We were running late and trying to time multiple storms that were coming through correctly so the wedding could be outside. Chris remained calm, kept us on schedule and even handed out umbrellas when it started to rain during the ceremony. The food was fabulous! We received so many compliments.
