Dockside at Dukes Reviews

Dockside is an iconic venue and is the epitome of a curated Seattle experience. We had not been to Duke’s prior to beginning our wedding planning, but they were highly recommended by our planners. We chose Duke’s based on their values: commitment to sustainability; a livable wage for its employees; and exceptional customer service. When we first came in to tour the space, Danae realized that we hadn’t been in and treated us to a crab cake. We were extremely impressed with the customer service and the kindness of the staff. Staff was clearly briefed beforehand, and thoughtfully greeted and congratulated the bride and groom by name throughout the night. The venue itself is situated along the waterfront, which allowed us to divide up the ceremony, dinner, and dancing sequentially, making the venue feel cohesive. Our 130 guests were comfortable with both the outdoor and indoor spaces. They loved photo opportunities on the patio at golden hour overlooking the marina. Duke’s catered a plated dinner for us, and was incredibly accommodating to our guests dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegetarian/vegan, and food allergies. Several guests actually chose to go back to Duke’s to dine again the day after the wedding, which is perhaps the best possible endorsement of the food! Thank you Danae and Duke’s for making our day special and for facilitating a fantastic meal. Reviewed on 08-09-2023

Our main criteria for a wedding venue was one that was beautiful, accessible, and functional for both a ceremony and a reception. Dockside was all of this and more. In the planning, we primarily worked with Danae, who was very organized and communicative. She scheduled an initial walkthrough of the venue for us, and she organized a menu tasting night where we got to try the food options, and experience a sample venue arrangement. Both of these events were extremely useful (and fun!) to paint a picture of what the wedding evening would feel like. As the wedding neared, we worked with Katie who handled our pre-wedding onsite session and the complementary rehearsal/walkthrough. Katie was great to work with, and in particular we were super happy that she found a way to get us earlier access to the venue for things like cake and arbor drop-off. She was also ready with a variety of options when the weather the morning of our outdoor ceremony looked iffy. She emailed us before we could even ask what the options were, which was tremendously comforting and made us feel very cared for on the big day. The wedding itself went exactly according to plan. We used Dockside's chairs, tables, linens, cutlery, plates, etc. for the ceremony, which the staff setup and took down. We used Dockside also offered twinkle lights, bars, cocktail barrels, and some couches for a lounging space. The staff was professional and effective, and the buffet was accessible and nicely laid out. We had a dedicated server at our couple's table, which we greatly appreciated. The vegetarian and gluten-free special entrees were correctly handled, which was very important to us. Our guests absolutely loved the arrangement of the venue - with the dance floor near the patio doors, where Dockside had set up the bar and outdoor furniture. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our choice to host our wedding at Dockside. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a quintessential Seattle wedding. Reviewed on 18-06-2023
Lindsey Green(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-07-2022 We had our wedding at Dockside at Duke’s in July 2022. There were very good and very bad parts…Pros: - Indoor and outdoor space: we loved having our ceremony outside and our reception inside.- Day of staff: the staff the day of our wedding was incredible. They were prepared for everything and we appreciated them. - Food: Wedding food isn’t something people often comment on at the wedding but we heard rave reviews from so many guests. Cons:- Responsiveness: we worked with Danae and Travis before our wedding to get everything lined up. It took WEEKS to get responses for basic things, even very close (~a month before) our wedding. This obviously added immense stress to an already stressful time and is the top reason I would not recommend this venue. - Drink flexibility: something we talked to Danae about before booking was requesting specific wine/beer. When we actually decided on our bar menu, she came through with one beer that we were pretty adamant about since it’s from the brewery where we had our first date but unfortunately didn’t get the flexibility we expected. - Decor planning: part of our contract was that we could have the Dockside team help with getting things for our event (eg special chairs) for a 20% surcharge. We requested we have the overheard string lights ($500 + surcharge) and drapery behind our sweetheart table. They forgot about the drapery until we reminded them a few weeks before and they said it was too small of an order to get delivered on its own, but they were going to find a way. They estimated a charge (including delivery) that they never adjusted nor provided an invoice/receipt for despite our asking. Given they said they couldn’t get it delivered separately, I have suspicions we were charged accurately. Strongly suggest not going through them for any help like this. Reviewed on 05-02-2023
Somin Bach(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-07-2022 If you're looking for the perfect Seattle vibe wedding, Dockside at Dukes is THE place! First of all, it's located right next to Lake Union, so you'll get an amazing view of the lake, the hills, and the city. During summertime (which is when we had our wedding) you'll be able to see the lake come alive with boats and water activities, but the venue is private enough so you won't get any noise disruptions. The actual venue itself is perfect for both small and large gatherings. The outside terrace is just stunning, and the indoor space was very roomy. Our guests really enjoyed their food as well! Some even commented that it tasted very healthy (in the best way possible), so you know they take their food seriously!Lastly, what really won us over was the professionalism, friendliness, and dedication the staff showed from the beginning to the end. Danae and Travis were just wonderful - I could really tell they wanted to make our wedding as seamless and stress-free as possible. I only had a few months to plan our wedding, and asked them a million questions, and they were always so warm and prompt with their responses. On the wedding day, everyone involved was on top of it. We really appreciated them!TLDR: Amazing venue - highly, highly recommend! Reviewed on 26-12-2022
Emma C(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-07-2022 I can not express how amazing Danae and Travis were to work with. My husband and I needed special food for cultural and religious reason and Danae and their in-house chef were amazing. We got so many compliments on the food and how beautiful it was. Jenna, I believe her name was, was the site manager for the day and she was so great to work with! On the day, she helped us coordinate with our dj, wedding planner and photographers. I would recommend this place to every future bride/groom. Just amazing!! Reviewed on 16-09-2022
Emi Sudo(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-11-2021 My (now) wife and I had the wedding of our dreams at Dockside at Duke's! Danae, the venue coordinator, is absolutely amazing to work with. Our original venue actually double booked us so this was our alternative option. Honestly, this was the better choice so despite the stress, it was all worth it in the end. Danae is professional, timely with email responses, and genuinely wants to help in making your day the best it can be. She gives great suggestions but also welcomes new ideas to support your vision. We received so many great reviews of the food from our guests! The chef was able to accommodate to a variety of dietary restrictions. (Duke's award winning clam chowder is a must-try) 10/10 recommend this venue! Reviewed on 17-11-2021
I am fortunate to have been in the wedding business since I was 20 years old when my family bought a catering company. I ran our family business for 8 years before we decided to sell and I set out to work for one of Seattle's top caterers for 7 years. In 2018 I was provided the opportunity to work with Duke's Seafood and build Dockside at Dukes from the studs up. I am beyond excited to help our future couples celebrate their wedding (or special event - rehearsal dinner, post-ceremony brunch) with us.
