Words can not express how thankful I am for Haley and the wedding staff at the Holiday Inn Uptown. Their patience, skill and thoughtfulness through the whole wedding planning process was unremarkable! Haley made something so complex appear seamless and easy. Thank you for making our wedding day the best day ever! Thank you for monitoring the rain clouds and moving us indoors. I had multiple guest comment that they thought moving venues downstairs was part of the plan and had no idea it was due to rain. Everything was so organized and perfect. The wait staff was phenomenal and so professional! All of our family and friends had the best time. I will recommend you to EVERYONE and ANYONE!! Once again, thank you thank you thank you!!!! You truly have a gift!!! Reviewed on 27-06-2023
Curry Lovell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-10-2022 We had our wedding in an October of 2022 and truly could not have asked for a better venue. Kayla helped us book and was accommodating and flexible, helping us plan for a rehearsal, wedding, and brunch at a great price for our budget. We had a lot of guests from out of town so being able to have all inclusive place was really important to us. Unfortunately, Kayla moved on in the months before our wedding but we were so lucky to have Jami in her place. We could not have asked for a better coordinator! She was integral in making our planning as low stress as possible. Not to mention she is such a genuine, kind and helpful person. They offered a menu tasting for us and 2 guests, where we met Chef Luca. His food was amazing! We opted for the ribeye and crab stuffed salmon and they were both a huge hit. We had our ceremony and reception on the rooftop which had recently been renovated and had a beautiful view of the city, especially at night. The day off went so smoothly and Jami handled all the food/beverage/set up so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Even months later, our guests still say it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to! I truly could not recommend a better place for any event! Reviewed on 21-03-2023

Laura had every question answered before I asked and the details for our special day. As a same gender couple, we were unsure of the venue and the ceremony. Thankfully, we located this hotel on Zola and they made it magical. Special thanks to Haley Horton and Mariah Harris and their above and beyond level of professionalism, service, and compassion. Asheka Lawrence-Reid(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-07-2022 I feel incredibly fortunate to have found such an amazing venue. The entire experience was wonderful. The prices were super reasonable and they were very accommodating with my vision. We did not hire a day-of coordinator, but Laura Russell, the director of Catering, essentially filled that role without even being asked. She ensured the arrival of all vendors and that the wedding party and guests were being accommodated. She did all this while ensuring myself and then husband-to-be were being taken care of. The food was also amazing! Some of my friends still comment on how delicious it all was to this day and we got married in July 2022. Overall service provided went above and beyond what you pay for. I have 2 friends getting married soon and I am recommending this location or one of the sister locations to both of them! Reviewed on 12-01-2023
Cassie Forbis(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-10-2022 As a planner, I will always recommend this venue after such a wonderful experience my couple had. This venue went above and beyond. My clients were one of the first weddings to have their event on their newly renovated rooftop space and WOW.Guests are still raving about the food, the ambiance and the staff. My clients had all of their out of town guests stay at the hotel, we had ceremony/reception and after party here and then we even had a send-off brunch the following day. The team here worked with us on customizing our menu and vision. We had a rockstar team of vendors that pulled this event off and couldn't be more thrilled with how it came together. The restaurant and bar onsite is run by a Chopped Champion, Luca Annunziata. The bar and restaurant was a great meeting point for all of our guests throughout the weekend pre/post events. Reviewed on 28-12-2022
Anastassia Aleman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2022 All of the staff at the holiday inn were amazing. We contacted them just weeks before the wedding (due to our original location being cancelled). They understood how stressed we were and made everything simple. We came in for a tasting of the menu and were sold on using them for our wedding. The flexibility they offered and their ability to truly cater to our experience and preferences made them stand out. Other venues we contacted had restrictions, but Holiday Inn was able to accommodate all of our wishes. We really enjoyed being able to stay the night before as well as having a room the night of the wedding. We originally wanted a venue that our guests could sleep at so everything worked out in the end. Everyone received a group rate and our out of town friends were able to stay with us. The location is amazing. They are in the middle of downtown so we walked to restaurants and all of our out of town friends got to experience center city Charlotte. The actual wedding and reception was beautiful. We took advantage of having it on the rooftop with the reception downstairs in a larger room. We were nervous about the weather so they offered several locations as a backup, but everything worked out on the day of. We had a slight delay and deviated from the schedule. The team at the Holiday Inn worked with us to keep the show going and made everything run smoothly. I couldn't be happier how it turned out. The rooftop pictures on the roof are incredible and the finale sparkler pictures on the street are one of my favorite. Thank you to all of the staff at the Holiday Inn for making our day special! Kudos to the chef at Forchetta! The catering manager-Laura, was pleasant to work with, and made sure every detail was perfect. Deanna Tinch(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-02-2020 We were married on 2/22/2020 at the Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City. We utilized the rooftop for our ceremony and the larger ballroom on the second floor for our reception. Both locations were stunning; the view on the rooftop is exceptional and the ceremony scheduled for the sunset added beautiful lighting for all of our photos. The banquet staff set the rooftop up beautifully with curtains behind the alter and white folding chairs arranged so all of our guests were able to view the ceremony. Both Kayla and Megan were phenomenal with wedding day schedules and rehearsals leading up to the big day. Everything was perfectly on-time, coordinated, and communicated to us. From all of the details prior to the big day, up until the second we cut the cake, it was amazing. The newly renovated ballroom on the second floor was the perfect setting for our cocktail hour and reception. Our families both enjoyed the room and the layout was very easy to move around and interact with all of our guests. The food at the hotel was amazing and Kayla and Megan made sure we were provided with plenty of food throughout our reception. Also, I have a gluten allergy and the restaurant staff were more than accommodating. They prepared my food separately and always had it plated differently than the rest of the food. My food was always delivered directly to me and I was ensured it had avoided any cross-contamination. The staff was also very accommodating to all of my vendors and remained in contact with everyone every step of the way. I would absolutely recommend this venue for anyone who has not decided on a wedding venue yet! My husband and I were blown away and more than pleased with everything! Reviewed on 29-02-2020
Makeia Lutz(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2019 Married on 10/12/2019Beautiful Venue!!! Let Down by Staff and Food!Let me start by saying our wedding day was such a special day and we are over the moon to be married!!! The purpose of this review is to give factual information that might help someone in the future. Nicole was nice but she could not pronounce my name correctly and I had to constantly correct her. She was frequently out of the office and no one else had access to her email so it was frustrating to not have a constant back up person. Nicole and I discussed the day of schedule several times and on my wedding day the groom had to keep asking her and her assistant Kayla what was next. I feel like for the price you pay the staff should be working behind the scenes so the day runs smoothly instead of the bride and groom directing things. The food at the tasting was outstanding!! The food we were served on our day was sub par and not the same items we requested! The food for me was a huge let down. Nicole left halfway through the reception and passed the baton to her assistant Kayla. Kayla literally was missing in action. My husband had to keep looking for her and he ended up missing a big part of our reception because of it. Nicole had let us know the day of the wedding that we were one of her last weddings and her last day would be the following week. I am not sure if she was just not equipped for the position or if she had other complaints but she was only here 1 year and a few months. I will say that I was contacted after complaining by the general manager Stacey and the director of sales Jamie and they had a meeting with my husband and I and their wedding team. They listened and I feel like they will use our experience to help improve future weddings and hotel procedures as well. We made the best of our day and I feel like with the right people anyone could have a dream wedding here. Reviewed on 29-10-2019

Wedding planning is stressful and I will hands down say our reception was the least stressful process all because of Nicole. Nicole always made sure we were comfortable with the decisions we made and didn’t have any questions. She always made herself accessible before we got married and the day of our wedding. I appreciate Nicole being detail-oriented, accommodating, and reaching out to our vendors the week of the wedding. My now husband and I decided to have our reception on the rooftop of holiday inn and I must say it was such a gorgeous evening! Nicole and her team made everything perfect, there was literally not one thing I would have changed. Not only was this venue spectacular but it was convenient to use their services for the food and bar portion of our reception. I have to add the food was absolutely divine and there was a good list of food options to choose from. Another thing that made this venue so great was the wedding packages. The prices were reasonable and it included many options. We appreciate Nicole and her team’s hard work in making our reception memorable with our family and friends! Reviewed on 22-09-2019

Sara Hyatt(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-09-2016 I had a horrific experience with my wedding at this hotel. I booked my wedding here 2 years ago & could not possibly be anymore disappointed with this hotel and their staff. My room was fine. Clean, plenty of towels. Nothing special, nothing to complain about either. Other wedding guests complained of cock roaches in their rooms, issues with room key cards and no hot water. Numerous guests were overcharged upon checkout & charged for things they had not ordered. My mothers bill was 3 times what it should have been.Onto my wedding review: They sell you on things they cannot deliver and/or just simply choose not to deliver. They host 300+ weddings a year &believe me, as a bride you will feel like 1 of 300 on your wedding day. Nothing special about you. They claim since they host so many weddings they are prepared for anything. Could not be any further from the truth. The weather was not on my side for my wedding. Which was fine. No one blamed the hotel staff for the fact that there was a hurricane in Charlotte that day. I blame the staff for the poor, pathetic way they handled this situation. The back up room I had been promised multiple times over the past 2 years had another event booked in it, even though they claim the $750 you pay for the roof is also the hold for the back up space in the event of rain... obviously it's not. They all but told us the corporate meeting that was taking place was more important than my wedding & if they were done in time I could have my wedding in that room. If not, I would just get whichever room was available. The other options looked like dungeons. The wedding coordinator is a sad excuse for a wedding coordinator. She is rude, impersonal & could care less that it is your wedding day. Her job is to book conference rooms, not make a brides day easy or special. Not a single person in my wedding party had anything positive to say about her. I paid extra to reserve a room for my bridal party to get ready in the day of. We didn't have time to go down & get breakfast so we asked what our options were. For a fruit try and stale bagels they charged me $150. then another $45 for water. Seriously? I paid close to $15k to this venue for my wedding plus 20 or so rooms for 2-3 nights from all my guests and you're going to charge me $150 for fruit? $45 for water? Come on. At the reception nothing we were promised occurred. We got our own drinks all night, we didn't get any of our cocktail hour food and drinks as we were promised, we didn't have our meals, which we didn't eat, taken to our room for later, they didn't use all of my decor that I had brought up there. Again all things that had been previously promised to me. My hair and make up artist who has done hundreds of weddings and numerous ones at this venue said she has NEVER seen a bride treated the way they treated me on my wedding day. Had it not been for the vendors that I personally brought in for the wedding and hired outside of the Holiday Inn, my wedding probably would have been ruined. I warn any future brides considering the Holiday Inn for your wedding venue. There is a shortage of venues in Uptown Charlotte and trust me they know it too. You hire a wedding coordinator and a venue to help in case things don't go as planned and to still make it just as special as you had hoped. You won't get that here! They wont think outside of the box when needed or do anything different than they're used too. Search your options, you will be disappointed here! Reviewed on 06-09-2016

Cory Goodfellow(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-05-2014 I had both my wedding ceremony and reception at the Holiday Inn, and overall was very pleased with the venue. \rAs part of the wedding package they provided our food for the reception, which was by far some of the best food I have ever had, especially at a wedding. They were able to adapt the dishes to our liking, changing any sauces or sides, which for a picky eater is very important. \rIn addition, as part of the package the hotel pays for part of your cake, centerpieces, and table linens. Depending on which route you choose to take the package may cover the whole cost of these items or you can upgrade and pay a little more to the specific vendors to make them bigger or different if you choose. I think this is a great feature of the hotel's wedding package because it allowed us to get the wedding cake and flowers that we wanted without having to spend a ton of money because half of the price was already included in our venue portion. \rWe were supposed to have both our ceremony and reception on the rooftop, but due to weather we unfortunately had to use our backup spaces for both. The hotel was very helpful in this transition and tried everything they could to hold out and see if the outside wedding could happen. Once the rain did start they provided us with an additional unplanned backup space that we used to take our posed pictures in, since we could not do them outside. \rThe staff was very friendly and helpful the whole weekend, and they seemed very accommodating. \rThe only reason I do not give the Holiday Inn an overall rating of 5 stars is because of the planning process leading up to my wedding day. I booked my wedding 2 years in advance, and in that time frame the hotel changed wedding coordinators 4 times. This led to some confusion and frustration while trying to make and confirm plans because the person I was talking to kept changing. Luckily the coordinator I had for the day of my wedding was there the last two months before my wedding, which are the most important planning months. However, she too is no longer with the hotel as they have yet another new coordinator. \rI believe the Holiday Inn offers a great wedding package. Unlike other hotels they do not restrict you to using only their vendors, but they give you options of vendors to choose from. The Holiday Inn gives you the options and lets you personally customize it from there. Reviewed on 08-07-2014

tracy frank(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-05-2013 When we booked with the Holiday Inn, I was super excited. The rootftop was great, the package seemed too go to be true, and it had so many things included. I know this venue has all fantastic reviews but my experience was not so perfect. \rTo start, my wedding coordinator changed three times in less than a year. I know turnover is normal, but nothing carried over from person to person. We would have things done and completed, then two months later have to start all over because what was promised would no longer work. We booked during a promotional period to get more extras and the back and that was constantly questioned, we had to re-do our menu a few times because what was possible kept changing, so frustrating. That said, each girl was very kind, very professional, and we like them as people. \rThe day of my wedding was not a good day. Once I arrived to the hotel around 3, I called my coordinator and asked her to stop by because I needed to speak with her. She said no problem, she would be there in 15 minutes. Never saw her. By 4:30, I was sick of waiting and was already a half hour late to my first look. So I sent my mom running around the building to find her. She had no luck and had to leave it at the front desk. We found out the next week that she was with the bride for the next nights with their rehearsal (which apparently took from 3pm to almost 8pm??). I called her numerous times and never got an answer, it VERY stressful to not know what is going on. It also makes me feel really crappy as a person that she couldn’t spare 15 minutes to speak with me but can easily give the other bride two nights in a row.\rNext, when we were heading over to our ceremony at Midtown Park, there was no 18 passenger shuttle that we were promised. Apparently, it had been in the shop for over a week and no one cared to tell us (even after confirming it would be there on Tuesday for our Friday wedding). So, we had to call cabs and see if our wedding guests could shuttle us around – horribly embarrassing. \rFinally on the roof and ready to relax, I’m immediately met (literally, as soon as I got off the elevator) and told that we have too many guests and we lied about our headcount. It turns out our family was being antisocial and wouldn’t intermingle so instead of 10 heads a table, they were stopping at 6 or 7. The first hour of my reception, my husband had to deal with their staff and do a headcount. During this ordeal, a conversation was held within earshot of my guests about how to proceed with the extra charges which caused a few people to ask me if I needed to extra help to afford my wedding. UNACCEPTABLE. There is no way to come back from that embarrassment. At this point, my coordinator finally shows back up with little to no solution, just “we’ll look at the numbers and see what you owe.” (For the record, we actually had two no-shows so we were under count.)\rThroughout the night, we also had numerous wedding crashers. People in jeans and t shirts were coming off the elevators, getting food, wandering around, and leaving. The staff has no regard for this and with the threat of charging extra for those people, I was completely livid. \rOn the plus side, the food was delicious, the drinks were INCREDIBLY strong, and the space was gorgeous. That said, unless they have worked out the kinks of employee transition and have better policies put in place to handle stray folks wondering up, I would NOT recommend this venue, too much disappointment! I was able to email the wedding planner there will the million of questions that I had and never felt like I was being a nuisance to her. The food was amazing, the service was amazing! They helped us out with every detail the entire time! I almost can't even put into words how great it was to have our reception here. They recently renovated, so if you've looked here in the past, give it another view now. It's convenient to the airport, near lots of restaurants for rehearsal dinners and after parties, safe place for guests who drink and need to stay the night, beautiful rooms, and super friendly and accommodating staff. I had to continually call to make sure there were enough rooms for all guests which wasn't fun. Reviewed on 07-10-2011

I had my reception venue booked for a year and a half and Rachel (the wedding director there) was nothing but helpful the entire time! She made sure every single detail was taken care of. Mistee Caldwell(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-05-2011 We had our wedding at this site, and was thouroughly impressed with the area. We had a great Wedding Corrdinator... who went on maternity leave, and was stuck with the replacement! She unfortunately kept counting people who were \"Nosey\" to the rooftop area, and I was advertantly charged another fee, or my wedding/reception would not continue!! OMG... \rWe reviewed our guest list after the ceremony, and can only figure from guest input, the people looking on were being counted in our head count! \rWhile the party was great, we did get a few complaints from guests the coordinators were rude! \rThe planning, cermony, food ect was great... just don't get unfortunate enough to get the replacement person who is nit used to this role! \rThe value was great, the location phenominal, the view breath taking, the alcohol plenty, the food amazing, the servers splendid, and the photo ops perfect!! \rI do however feel this could have been a 5 star rating, minus the BIG issue we had!! They were attentive, flexible, friendly, and really made it a great experience. The rooftop was a beautiful location for our ceremony. The ballroom setup for our reception was a little awkward, with the dj & dance floor in a corner. The catering and waitstaff were great. We met the head chef at our tasting & it was an excellent experience. Overall, I was very pleased. We had a great weekend & have beautiful memories & photos. :) Reviewed on 12-05-2011
Elizabeth Cepull(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-04-2011 The Holiday Inn Charlotte Center City was the easiest place to plan a wedding with no wedding planner! The hotel is great – right in the middle of downtown and the rooms are pretty recently renovated. They have wedding coordinators that are included in the price of using the venue. When you book there, you get lots of freebies included (e.g. cake/table decorations/honeymoon room/”day of” coordinator to help make sure everything is as requested/room block coordinator/tablecloths/etc). Depending on when you book, they also run specials for chair covers, reduction in site fee, etc. Everything was set up and occurred on my wedding day as discussed previously with the wedding coordinator - I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding! There are various places within the hotel that you can choose to hold your ceremony and reception - I opted for the rooftop for both the ceremony and the reception and had about 75 guests. I have heard so many great comments about the venue from my friends and family and would highly recommend it to all Charlotte brides! Reviewed on 09-05-2011
Kristin Benesowtiz(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2010 Overall, I was satisfied with this venue, but definitely not overwhelmed. It was annoying that we had to include choice of meal on the invitations and they still got many of them wrong, including my MIL!\rThe venue is beautiful, but there are aspects I wish I had considered more such as how spread out all the guests were between the bar, dance floor, etc.\rBecause it was on the rooftop, the beer was served in cans. That was something I never thought to ask and I thought was kind of tacky.\rThe hotel provides either black or white linens, but somehow I got both? The tablecloths were black and the napkins were white. ??? So it just seemed that some of the details/communication got confused.\rSome things were wonderful like the dedicated maitre d', my entree was delicious, but I heard mixed reviews from others guests. We had them pull the crabcakes from the appetizer buffet when we found shells in them. \rI would recommend this venue to another bride, but I would make a few other suggestions too. ANGELA LOPEZ(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-08-2008 I loved the rooftop view of the city. I loved the great food and wonderful service provided to my guest. I also loved that they had someone on point to run the reception which helped with the flow and gave us less to worry about.;If you chose to have your reception on the rooftop be sure you like the back up location because there is a good chance you will have to use it. Be sure you read all the details of the room agreement if you chose to block rooms for your out of town guest. We ended having several guests stay in smoking rooms because that was all that was available. Reviewed on 10-05-2010

Jennifer Nickell(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-08-2008 We absolutely loved the rooftop terrace venue. Unfortunately since it started raining five minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to start our guests had to rush in from the rain and didn't get to enjoy that atmosphere throughout the evening. But the hotel staff did a great job of moving the ceremony and reception into their ballrooms very quickly and everything still looked great.;Just be sure that you have booked the ballrooms in case of bad weather and that you will still be happy having your event in the indoor location. The staff was great and made every attempt to have my event in the outdoor location I had chosen but it just wasn't in the cards for me. The only bad thing about this venue is that there aren't many good photo backdrops. As long as you plan ahead for this you should be fine. We went out in the city to take some of our pictures. In hindsight I should have worked with the hotel and photographer to have better backdrops for the indoor pictures. Reviewed on 04-01-2009

It featured a lovely staircase in the middle going down to the street below so smokers could slip out occassionally.;Getting and keeping the block of reserved rooms and guests being able to book those rooms was nearly impossible. I have no idea why that was such a hassle. every time a guest tried to book a room I ended up having to call the hotel and do it for them through the wedding people.
