DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston - Westborough Reviews
Stephanie Cooke(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-07-2018 I had a group block at the Double Tree for my wedding guests. The meeting manager Michelle was very professional and helpful in answering all my questions about the hotel. They offered a great rate, could block off a large amount of rooms, and the reservation even included breakfast the next morning. Guests really enjoyed going to the hotel bar for the afterparty and the suite we stayed in had champagne, rose petals and chocolate covered strawberries. However, there were a few problems we encountered. The block was booked under my maiden name instead of what my married name would be. Therefore, when guests called to book, they had a hard time finding our block and the front desk was not helpful in redirecting them. Other guests were told that the block was full, when the hotel and I had agreed on not putting an cap on the block but continuing to open up rooms as more and more were filled. I had to email/call multiple times to sort things out and I believe the issue lied in a lack of communication between the meeting team and the front desk. The front desk also failed to put the cookies guests get at check in in the special cookie pouches we had purchased and provided them. Finally, I was disappointed that I was not able to order any late night snacks at the bar for my guests. Knowing that the hotel's kitchen would be closed by the time my guest and I arrived after the reception, I wanted to order pizzas for my guests who might be hungry or needed a drunk snack. However, their policy was that no food could be brought into the bar area. While I understand this applies to all guest, I thought they should have made an exception due to the large amount of business we brought them and the fact that I was unable to order food through them. Overall, everything worked out and my guest had a nice place to stay. If you choose to book a block here, make sure you check in on details often to ensure your event runs smoothly! Heidi Brown(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-09-2016 We had our wedding ceremony and reception here. Kasee Clayton was our event coordinator. I visited a total of 5 hotels in our search for the perfect venue. I walked in with a notebook of questions and expectations of exactly how I wanted my wedding. I changed my mind several times and asked for several quotes for different options. Kasee was amazing. Every time I asked, \"Kasee, I have a great idea but can we do it?\" Her response was always \"of course, that sounds great!\" She offered advice and guidance and allowed me to create my day without being judgmental or pushing her own ideas on me, which is so important. She always made planning seem so easy and she took care of everything on the big day. Everything! There's nothing I can write here that can really show my gratitude that I had Kasee to help me plan my wedding. Oh, the venue was awesome too! No complains at all. Beautiful ballrooms and guest rooms. Everything was fantastic! Thank you so much! Reviewed on 25-09-2016
June Nowak(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-12-2014 had our wedding at the double tree in westborough last Saturday. Service was wonderful, staff was impeccable (especially Susan from the wait staff was super helpful and at our beckon call) The food was great and the venue itself just was updated with new carpets and wallpaper. We rented out all three ballrooms for our large wedding and it was better than we anticipated. We used Adam Averback of Party Excitement as the hotel recommend and it was absolutely wonderful. He transformed the room and kept us dancing all night. It was great to have a package through the hotel because we had less vendors to deal with. I would highly recommend the double tree, it's easy to get to and the hotel staff was friendly and the food was great!!! Very happy all in all!! Reviewed on 14-12-2014
Katherine Shinopoulos(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-05-2014 Shauna is a fantastic event coordinator! She is very calm, flexible, and easy to work with. My husband and I had a Nepali Hindu wedding at the Hilton, and everything went very smoothly. We had a hard time finding a place that would allow everything we needed for the ceremony, so we were very relived that Shauna was so accommodating and helpful. Shauna went through all the details carefully with us, and we were able to use the patio, the ballroom, and an extra room for getting ready. We had outside catering, but the Hilton set up tables etc. exactly where we wanted them, they worked well with the caterers. We had the wedding ceremony outside on the patio, which was lovely. We were able to set up a canopy, and the staff of the Hilton set up a small stage and all the chairs for us. Then they nicely rearranged them all when the priests told us they should be facing in a different direction. We didn’t know ahead of time exactly how long the ceremony was going to be, but the ballroom was all ready for us for the reception when we were done. Shauna made sure the whole event went very smoothly! Reviewed on 31-10-2014
blanca cappello(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2012 I signed up for the most expensive package deal with the Doubletree for our wedding of 150 people. My wedding coordinator prior to the wedding was amazing. She was so detail oriented and truly catered to our needs. \r\rUnfortunately the execution was terrible, there were several issues at the wedding because our wedding coordinator did not stay. In the beginning, the staff did not give out my welcome bags to the several guests that had flown in for our wedding. Total waste of money.\r\rWe had a russian-american wedding. Upon walking down the aisle I noticed that the $250 I spent on the backdrop was the complete wrong one! Could have gotten over that one, but then it got worse. My mother in law had ordered $1500 worth of Russian appetizers for cocktail hour. The only served half of the food because they claim they \"forgot\" about the food, leaving the appetizer plates completely empty at cocktail hour. We had paid for a private bridal attendant during cocktail hour, and NOONE ever came to our room. We had no drinks at all, very few appetizers, no one to tell us where we were supposed to go, no organization, and all of the props that I had bought for the pictures were never brought by the bridal attendant. My poor photographers were trying to help us! This put us 1 hr behind! All our table numbers were completely wrong in our reception, leaving the bridal party in the farthest corner of the room away from us (thank god my father caught this as he was searching for staff). \r\rThe banquet managers had asked the Dj's to play during cocktail hour instead of the FREE house music we requested and was in our contract. The Dj's charged us an extra $300 for this. \r\rDuring the ceremony, I had bought a very expensive engraved memorial candle. It was not at the ceremony! The banquet managers stated \"we think it got broken.\" No apology here. \r\rWhen dinner was served instead of the chicken picatta we had paid for, there was a plain piece of chicken with NO SAUCE and very burnt brocolini. Very disappointing considering the food was the most expensive. \r\rUnfortunately, at the end of the night despite stating that I wanted to keep all my decorations my bridal staff had taken my bridal bouquet (with my sash from my dress), expensive pearls that I had bought, and bathroom gift baskets I had made with several perfumes and colognes. \r\rWe met privately with the banquet managers after the fact, and to be honest it did not seem like they cared at all. We spent 20,000 just for the venue space, choosing this venue over several others. The banquet managers just simply stated we go over all the contracts prior to the events, and commented on the not having chicken picatta as \"well the chef said the chicken was cooked fine.\" Not very apologetic towards us, just wanted to get us out the door. There were several other issues, but I would need alot more space for this. Reviewed on 15-11-2012
Aparna Garg(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-09-2012 We were happy with our choice of Doubletree as the venue overall. Overall, the service was good and staff was cooperative. However, they did make a couple mistakes regarding the number of chairs and stage size. I would suggest assigning someone to double-check the hall layout right before the wedding starts. Renee Pomerleau(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-06-2012 we had an AMAZING time at our wedding. The Coordinators and everyone at the doubletree was so amazingly helpful throughout the entire process. We were so impressed with the affordability, the promptness of answers to our questions, and the quality of the service Reviewed on 25-06-2012
Ilyse Rubin(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2010 We booked this venue because of it's proximity to our ceremony location. It was nice and affordable, so we went for it. In the end of it was not worth the hassle. \rOur hotel block was continuously messed up, to the point where they told our guests our wedding was not happening and that the hotel was full. Yes it was fixed, but it was the most stressful part of our wedding planning. \rOur coordinator was slow to return emails and often short in her response's and on the day of, they changed the cocktail hour location without even checking with anyone. While we understood their reasoning, we paid for and wanted something else... a simple \"is this ok\" would have made everyone happy. \rDuring the actual reception, the food was eh. The beef was WAY over cooked- several guests actually sent their food back, and the risotto was terrible.. I didn't even eat it. They arlso messed up our time line and thus delayed the dancing during our reception. The only thing that saved our reception was our DJ because she stayed on for an extra 30 minutes. \rOur coordinator was NO WHERE to be seen on the actual wedding day and I was given a man whom I never met with and didn't know. My husband and I were often left alone during the reception and had no one to talk to or check in with. \rIf you are strapped for cash and need a nice venue, then the doubletree is a fine choice, just be aware of what you are getting. \rIn the end, you receive the service you pay for.
