Let's make your day truly sweet!
Ethereal Confections is more than just a chocolate company. We’re a chocolate shop, cafe, speakeasy and event space, all rolled into one, located in Woodstock, IL–where Groundhog Day was filmed. At Ethereal, we know just what you’re looking for in a wedding venue, and our staff is dedicated to making your special day perfect. No surprises, no headaches. You just focus on having fun and creating memories, and we’ll do the rest. We now have two location offerings! Our loft space, located above our cafe, and our new location the Courthouse Square, located on the second floor of the historic Woodstock Old Courthouse Center - right across the street from the cafe. With each location each guest receives a craft chocolate truffle favors, which will impress even the pickiest of aunts. The Loft at Ethereal is our original venue with exposed brick walls, hardwood floors, and large windows overlooking the beautiful and historic Woodstock Square. Your guests will be greeted with the aroma of our own homemade chocolate as soon as they walk in. With an ideal capacity of up to 80 guests, it is perfect for an intimate night with friends and family. Courthouse Square is perfect for that 75-125 person guest count (150 max at straight tables) and is a show stopper with it’s historic architecture and modern finishes. With amenities such as a large wedding suite with tons of natural light and a separate ceremony room option, the space has been renovated with you in mind. Courthouse Square also has an add-on option of the old Sheriff’s House for cocktail hour. Complete with original Jail Cells, it’s definitely the ultimate photo op. Hoping for great photo spots? We’ve got those too! Between adorable brick buildings, the park in the center of town, and the colorful mural with Bill Murray’s face 7 feet high, there’s something for everyone. We had such a wonderful experience working with Kelsey and the Ethereal team. Kelsey is very organized, and helped to guide us every step of the way with all of the details. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, and spacious. We had a wedding of about 120 people with plenty of room! I would highly recommend this venue and this team!

We had such a wonderful experience working with Kelsey and the Ethereal team. Kelsey is very organized, and helped to guide us every step of the way with all of the details. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, and spacious. We had a wedding of about 120 people with plenty of room! I would highly recommend this venue and this team!

There’s a lot of things to go into planning a wedding and where everything meets on the big day might be the most important. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Kelsey and Ethereal Confections to make our wedding a reality. The venue itself is gorgeous and the Sheriff’s House was the best place to host a cocktail hour after the ceremony. As the first wedding at the newly renovated Courthouse Square, there was a lot of room for things to go wrong. Thanks to Kelsey, we couldn’t have had a more perfect day. Whether it was ironing out contractual arrangements, coordinating with vendors on the day of, or staying late to set up the event space the night before, Kelsey was with us every step of the way. We would both, without any reservation, highly recommend that anyone looking to have the best wedding experience take the time to meet with Kelsey. The best part of any of our wedding planning was getting to work with her. We cannot thank her enough for her support and commitment to making sure our day was as beautiful and smooth as it was; a cut above is truly an understatement.

The Courthouse Square by Ethereal Events exceeded our expectations in every way possible. From the moment we stepped foot inside, we were captivated by its historic yet modern aesthetic. The historical character of the venue perfectly complemented our vision for a truly memorable day. The renovations were beautifully done, striking the perfect balance between modern elegance and timeless charm. My favorite aspect of the building was the beautiful bridal suite. The spaciousness of the suite allowed us to create beautiful memories with our bridal party and family. Not to mention, the stunning backdrop for our getting-ready pictures was just perfect. The location of the venue made it even more magical, as we were able to take breathtaking photos within walking distance of the square and local historic buildings. The best part of our experience was undoubtedly the exceptional staff. From the moment we started planning until the last dance, their service was nothing short of outstanding. We are forever grateful to our wonderful wedding coordinator, Lauren, who went above and beyond to make our special day absolutely perfect. Lauren truly saved the day when our floral arrangements arrived damaged and scarce. She and the staff worked hard and fast to pull florals and decor from their storage and ensure a smooth and memorable event despite a vendor mishap. Thank you to everyone involved that day (especially Kelsey and Lauren) in helping our big day become a dream come true!

This space is absolutely gorgeous, we took a leap of faith way back in November of last year on this space with just going off of the construction and design mock-ups. Well, fast forward to a whole year of planning and anticipation, it totally paid off! This venue has gone so above and beyond our expectations. The staff has been so incredible the entire process. Our wedding was so so beautiful and will go down to be one of the best day of our lives. The historic building is so gorgeous, the brick, the large windows that let in such beautiful light and the reception hall was perfect for our 100 guests. With all of our vendors being so wonderful, Kelsey working with us and Lauren (our Day-Of- Coordinator) being amazing, we couldn't ask for a more beautiful and meaningful place to get married. Kelsey and Sarah were amazing, I did not hire a wedding planner and they were always so quick to answer any questions I had. On our wedding day Sarah helped calm the chaos and keep everything in order. The venue is gorgeous and had plenty of space, we had around 50 guests. We got the premium bar and it did not disappoint. The wedding party also got to be down in the speakeasy before the wedding and take some photos which turned out amazing! The venue offers truffles as a complimentary wedding favor and our guests loved it, plus it was one less thing for me to plan out. The only issue we had was that it was super warm upstairs in the loft, even with the AC on, but during the cooler months it should be plenty comfortable up there!

Ethereal Confections was everything my husband and I wanted for our wedding. Unlike some other venues, this one is just unique and special. Every time someone asked where we were getting married and we said Ethereal, their reactions were priceless. Not very many people know they have an event space, and they’re even more shocked when they see how gorgeous it is. The wooden floors and tables with the exposed piping on the ceiling is so earthy and modern. You just need to throw up some greenery and it’s ready to go. The natural beauty makes decorating (and the inevitable take down) so much easier. And they do your party favors for you! Kelsey was our event coordinator through Ethereal, and she is simply amazing at her job. She was so helpful through the 8 months of planning after we booked with them, and even provided us with recommendations for food and DJ services, and our DJ was absolutely amazing. Kelsey made everything run so smoothly on our wedding day that I didn’t have to worry about a single thing from prep, vendors, the ceremony or the reception. I thought I’d be so worried with all the different moving parts that I wouldn’t be able to relax but it was seamless. I can’t recommend Ethereal Confections enough, it is a beautiful and special place to have a wedding and it’s right on the Woodstock Square so you can take pictures right outside. If you’re looking for a venue that’s a little bit unconventional and unique, it doesn’t get much better than the top floor of a chocolate shop with a speakeasy in the basement.

Our experience at Ethereal Confections was phenomenal! We had a wonderful, fun, and intimate wedding reception for our 75 guests. I was worried the space would feel too small, but it was perfect. From talking with Kelsey to book the space in early 2021, to working with Kat on our big day in June 2022, our wedding could not have been more beautiful nor run more smoothly. Kat was wonderful to work with on the day of, buzzing around the whole evening making sure everything was taken care of. She even had to kindly get one of our rowdier guests off the table he was dancing on at the end of the night. Zach, our bartender, was also phenomenal and made my signature cocktail dreams come true! If you’re looking for a unique, intimate, wonderfully managed wedding venue with dedicated and talented staff, Ethereal Confections is the venue for you! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. We highly recommend marrying your best friend in a chocolate shop!

Ethereal Confections was a DREAM venue for my wedding. It was the first venue I found on the Knot and the first and only venue I visited. Right when you walk in, you are hit with the smell of chocolate and coffee - so I was pretty much sold right there. Very appropriate and reasonable pricing and working with Kelsey was more than I could've asked for! Kelsey knows what she is doing - detailed oriented, prompt, enthusiastic, and was very reassuring during the final days leading up to the wedding. Everything went so smooth because of Kelsey's help. She is amazing. There isn't one bad thing I can say about having my wedding at Ethereal Confections.

They used to be in a little cafe in Woodstock Square then i found out they moved to a MUCH bigger location with an event space upstairs. I was so excited. This whole experience was amazing. Kelsey is great and she helped us out so much. I was able to get wine/whiskey and chocolate parings for the wedding party with their house made dairy free chocolate. The staff was amazing and tolerant of us and our wedding party. Everyone loved the venue. Thank you so much!!

Our wedding at Ethereal Confections was absolutely perfect! This hidden gem was a dream especially for two people who love chocolate and coffee. Kelsey always had quick responses and kept in touch throughout our whole planning process which made it an easy and pleasant experience! The space itself is beautiful and it was exactly what we wanted! We had 80 people which I think was a perfect size to still feel intimate and have a dance floor. I definitely recommend Ethereal Confections and would choose them all over again!!

The price was unbeatable and the event space was unique and intimate. Our guests loved everything this beautiful space had to offer. We received multiple comments from our guests regarding how friendly all the staff members were and how much the venue had to offer. These highlights included the main level coffee shop and speak easy in the basement. Amazing venue!!! The smell of chocolate is definitely a highlight! We had our first date at the old location! So fitting to have out wedding there! Everything we asked for we got! The bar was well stocked no issues there! The venue provides for a intimate wedding even with 80 guests! The even was well organized as Kelsey was really good at working with our vendors and having them all on the same page! Amazing space for those looking for a unique and intimate space!

Kelsey, who runs everything, is awesome. She’s very accommodating and on top of things . The venue itself is very visually appealing and has a nice surrounding area for pictures. Priced very fairly. Good venue for a medium sized wedding and probably even better for a smaller wedding. The space can be used very efficiently if you choose to maximize the venue’s capacity like we did. Great experience overall. My only knock would be the beer selection at the bar and that for our particular event the bar had a difficult time keeping beers cold throughout the night, probably due to the demand from the size of our party. Neither of these things affected our night much, if at all. Would recommend.

She responded to every email I sent and answered every question, and she even led our rehearsal the day before. Additionally, she assisted with cleaning up the event space at the end of the night, which was an added bonus. Everyone says a Day Of Coordinator is essential for a bride, but Kelsey communicated so well with my vendors and key family members that there was no need to hire any outside help for this role. 🙂Overall, our wedding day will never be forgotten, and we highly recommend Ethereal Confections to host your wedding!

Hey, fellow brides!I got married at Ethereal Confections in Woodstock, IL on December 1, 2019. We traveled a bunch after we got married and then the pandemic hit, so that’s why it’s taken me so long to write a review! Anyway, my husband and I started dating at the old Ethereal location and when we heard they moved and had an event space, we knew we wanted to get married there.Kari helped us through the whole process and she was AWESOME... We had a 7 week engagement and she and Ethereal helped us create the most perfect wedding for us with (for real) zero stress. They were always super quick to respond, were honest about how much things cost up front (there was actually a small mistake made by Ethereal and they told us something cost less than it did and when they realized their mistake, they apologized and gave us the lower the price they had told us originally...super classy), and had the coolest and best staff helping us on the day of our wedding. My bridesmaids kept telling me how great our bartender in the bridal suite was, family kept raving about how beautiful their space was, and everything went totally smoothly logistically! And even better, if some things didn’t go smoothly, I had absolutely no idea, which is exactly what you want on your wedding day.I really can’t describe how grateful to God I am to have been able to get married at Ethereal. Kari, and everyone at Ethereal, thank you!!! You gave us the most special day of our lives and we are eternally grateful.For anyone on the fence, call Ethereal and just talk to someone there. They will answer all of your questions with no fuss or confusion or ambiguity. They will be honest and straightforward and so helpful, I promise.Last thing—we were only the second wedding there ever and the first one was done a week before us. You would’ve thought they had been doing this a decade, cause seriously had their shit together. I cannot recommend Ethereal highly enough. Our wedding was their first event when they opened the new location October 2019 and it turned out perfectly. Kari was incredible and helped us so much. I had a pretty specific vision in mind for the wedding and she totally got it and helped us execute it. She was so kind and communicated with us really well, which was very important to me. The event space itself is so lovely. The huge windows let in beautiful light and makes the space feel even bigger. We had about 100 guests and were able to have the ceremony and reception both at Ethereal. They helped us move tables for dancing after dinner and everything went perfectly. I planned this wedding from across the country without seeing the space in person. Kari sent me photos and layouts, which was super helpful for planning. I pretty much just trusted that the space would be right for us based on being a regular customer at the original location for so long when we lived in woodstock, and loving their aesthetic. And it turned out even better than I imagined. The entire new building is beautiful from top to bottom. Basically, I can’t say enough positive things about my experience having my wedding at Ethereal.
