Modern Waterfront Venue in The Hudson River Valley
Foreland is a stunning wedding venue in Catskill, a utopic town in the Hudson River Valley. Nestled on Catskill Creek, ours is a contemporary arts campus with two, stunning private event spaces, ideal for creative souls and lovers of the arts to tie the knot. Built-in the mid-1800s, this site was originally a mill producing uniforms for Union Soldiers during the Civil War. After being vacant for decades, these three historic structures that comprise the Foreland Campus were reimagined as a mecca for art & gathering, from concerts to top-tier weddings. The team of creative minds behind this site honors the history, but renovated each building plus a green waterfront pasture that allows modern luxury to complement the original beauty of the spaces. Exposed bricks and wooden beams run through the interior, creating a customizable space that is warm and completely unique. Foreland has a selection of venue rooms for couples to choose from, allowing for a total capacity of 300 guests. Our Great Lawn offers endless photo opportunities on a stunning, luscious backdrop where newlyweds can exchange vows. The Waterfront space is connected to the outdoor area, a 4,000-square-foot ultra-modern venue with high ceilings and tall windows. This room contains a private wedding preparation suite and a 1,000-square-foot catering kitchen. The stand-alone, creekside building we call The Bookhouse is a stunning venue dedicated exclusively to private event rentals. Standing on 10,000 square feet, this beauty boasts some of the most jaw-dropping interior and architectural designs on campus. Hand-cut wooden slats adorn a high ceiling with string lights that create a starry-sky effect. The loft apartments have private spaces for newlyweds to prepare, while the lounge offers a relaxing environment to take an intimate moment together. Foreland provides two kitchens with heating and cooling equipment for catering options. This venue also offers PA systems, fire pits, photo packages, and other amenities. The team has curated lists of hotel and dining options within the nearby area. There are two newly renovated apartments on-site, with high-end furnishings and mountaintop views, full kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms, providing accommodation for a select number of guests and married couples.

We had the absolute honor of being the first wedding to break in the Book House at Foreland and we could not have been happier with our decision. Jules was a dream to work with throughout the process, and the space was the perfect canvas for us to design our special day. The Book House was perfect for our 70 person wedding – we were able to hold the ceremony in the main space and then use the lounge, the top level, and the outdoor space to host our guests while the space was being flipped for the reception. Beyond it being beautiful and flexible, the Book House also has two suites directly on top of it that allowed us the perfect space to host our family and friends and to get ready before our wedding (we literally just had to walk downstairs and get married – can you put a price on that?!). It’s also worth noting that there are countless adorable Airbnbs and boutique hotels between Catskill and Hudson, which made it easy for all of our guests to find accommodations that were convenient and suited their needs. All in all, the space was convenient, flexible, and beautiful, and Jules and her team were so responsive and accommodating. We highly, highly recommend choosing Foreland and/or the Book House for your wedding or special event!

Getting married at Foreland was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding. From our first inquiry to the day after the wedding- the team at Foreland made everything beyond special and easy. We got married on the waterfront lawn with the Catskill Mountains in the background- the whole thing was absolutely breathtaking and perfect. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone at Foreland!

My partner and I were so excited to finally get married but stressing the process of planing the wedding wedding. We cannot believe how lucky we got with the Bookhouse at Foreland and their incredible team. We knew we wanted to have our ceremony and party in the Hudson Valley but didn’t have a venue in mind. We are both writers not party planners. We had scheduled five tours, and Bookhouse was the first we saw. After our tour, we told our planner to cancel the others, but she suggested we go anyway, so we did. Let me just say, Foreland is like no other. We found ourselves comparing every subsequent venue to Bookhouse which combined natural beauty (picture: beautiful gardens rolling along a river) with lofty ceilings and barn charm galor. It’s an astonishing space that was renovated with such care and love. Natural light comes in from every direction, and at night it glows from within. Our ceremony and party pictures look straight out of a movie.Being in the Hudson Valley, we were very conscientious about weather being an issue so it was huge that Foreland offers multiple ceremony and cocktail hour options indoors as well as outdoors, with ample space for tents. Foreland will always hold a special place in our hearts and our photo albums. If you are looking for a wedding venue with infinite options— make this stop number one. We want everyone we love to know about it.

Don’t miss this! Super professional and great value for what you get. I held my wedding at Foreland this summer. The venue is in the middle of the Hudson Valley on the waterfront. There is a long view of the Catskill mountains in the distance from the water, and an even better view of it from the top floor event space. The venue is connected to Main Street Catskill which is a bonus. The building is a beautiful architectural restoration of an historic mill with so many areas for good photos inside and outside. The event felt dreamy and romantic but with a really fresh vibe. The venue's team were very responsive, pleasant, and had great attention to detail. They have multiple spaces to choose from and each is unique; we chose two spaces for different events during the weekend. Picture perfect weekend, went off without any issues. Highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning location with incredibly professional staff. Centrally located in the picturesque Hudson Valley, we couldn't imagine a more perfect, romantic venue for our special day. The historic architecture mixed with the contemporary design truly created a memorable space for our families and friends. Catskill is incredibly quaint and special providing the perfect kind of vibe not just during the day of, but also for events we had before and after the wedding. We can't wait to return to Foreland for future anniversary celebrations!

We were married here in the spring of 2023 in the garden overlooking the waterfront and it was absolutely STUNNING! The Book House at Foreland was the setting that my husband and I had been searching for in the Hudson Valley! Immediately upon walking through the door, Foreland truly felt special and unique to us. Because it’s a beautifully restored historic mill and not a dedicated “wedding venue”, it doesn’t have that cheesy / formulaic feel that some wedding venues can have. Rather, it felt well-designed and sophisticated and was exactly what we were hoping to find. The site itself is memorably beautiful, and the view was absolutely perfect. In the late evening, with the light breeze, golden lighting, and the waterfront as our backdrop, there are few locations that can offer such a romantic atmosphere.We loved that the layout of the garden, Great Lawn and the interior spaces gave us separate environments so we could have an effortless transition from our wedding ceremony to the reception, dinner and dancing. Also fantastic is the fact that there are two apartments upstairs to get glammed in, we definitely opened the champagne a little early upstairs but the suites ended up being a great setting to chill before our big day. Most of our friends were coming to the area from Brooklyn. There are a wealth of Airbnbs nearby, and our guests loved the quant town of Catskill and exploring all of the unique little townships in the area. My family loved checking out the historic hotels and sights in the area over the weekend. It was so important to us that our guests thoroughly enjoy themselves, and everyone was raving at the end of the weekend. It was simply perfect. The best choice we ever made was marrying each other, but the second-best choice we ever made was choosing this venue.

We knew we wanted to get married in the Hudson Valley, and Foreland is the perfect spot. Located in Catskill village, all our guests came up from the city very easily, the team coordinating was wonderful, the lighting and music and waterfront was magical. We'd give 10 stars if we could.

We had our wedding at the Bookhouse space. Was absolutely beautiful, romantic, and certainly a memory I will never forget! The space made for an ideal upstate wedding. Most of our guests were coming from NYC and some from other parts of the country. The town of Catskill and neighboring Hudson make for a great weekend getaway. We had our ceremony outside by the waterfront then moved inside for dinner and dancing (lots of the latter!). It was such a magical wedding weekend in the Hudson Valley- bring me back and let's do it all over again!

Our experience at Foreland was incredible. It was a really cool and unique setting, the people were so kind and easy to work with, and our guests had a blast. Photos against the waterfront were perfect. Highly recommend Foreland!!!

The Bookhouse at Foreland was such a fantastic place to host our dream wedding. We live in Florida and were able to work with the amazing staff in NY to plan the entire event long-distance. The access to amazing vendors and professionalism throughout the process made the planning so much smoother than I had ever imagined. Everything went smooth day of and our guests all had an absolute blast! Couldn't recommend this venue more - we absolutely loved it!

OBSESSED with Foreland. The staff is so nice and I love that two apartments are part of the package. My sister got married here and it was truly so special. Everything was really organized and the town itself was so cute. Definitely recommend for weddings!

Foreland is perfection! This waterfront wedding venue in Hudson Valley Catskills is unique, romantic, versatile and a MUST! The entire wedding weekend can be held throughout their different buildings and beautiful spaces. This was very convenient for out of town guests. Everyone at Foreland there wanted to exceed our expectations! The people, the great design, the beautiful architecture, the romantic vibes, the versatility, everything… JUST BOOK IT! You will thank me later!

Had two events there in Summer and Fall of 2021 and I can't recommend it more. First, it's STUNNING - truly unique in its architecture, configuration, and vibe in general. All guests were just blown away! Second, the location is perfect. Such a charming area, not so far that you dread the drive from the city, but just far enough that you feel at peace. Finally, the team there is so great to work with. So supportive, helpful, and knowledgable. Can't recommend the space more!!

Fantastic space in a gorgeous renovated historical building and great convenient location. A lot of floorplan opportunities for your event to really feel unique and interesting and super professional and experienced team to assist with guidance. Highly recommend!
