Keeler Tavern was the perfect wedding venue! We spent a long time looking at venues, something that could incorporate our intimate size, love of greenery and gardens, and historic venues, and Keeler checked all of the boxes. As always, you worry about fitting everyone and how the weather would be, but everything was perfect. We had 80 guests and it was comfortable and didn't feel crowded at all. It did rain a bit during cocktail hour and dinner and between the tent up top and the overhang on the garden house, it was absolutely not an issue! Everyone was either under the tent or still able to be outside where we had the bar and dessert under the generous overhang of the porch!I have nothing but positive things to say, everything was amazing and everyone was so helpful to work with. Mary Ann answered any questions and was helpful in suggesting vendors when needed. They were friendly and of course the gardens were stunning as well as the garden house. We added the museum tour during cocktail hour which was such a special treat and guests loved it. I highly recommend Keeler as a venue for anyone who wants the most beautiful location with a special, intimate and unique wedding. Reviewed on 31-10-2023

We had our July wedding at Keeler Tavern and were so happy with our choice. We stumbled upon this gem after two years of living within CT. The garden was absolutely stunning. Maryann was amazing throughout our process and every staff member that was apart of our day were so sweet. Our family and guests had such great compliments. We are so thankful and appreciative the rain even held out for our day and were able to enjoy the garden for our ceremony. We would definitely come back to tour the museum as our guests were so interested and we've never been! This lovely gem does not disappoint. After the initial tour, my wife and I just knew that we would hold our wedding at Keeler Tavern. The garden swept us off our feet! Mary Ann, the Director of Private Events & Rentals, proved helpful and accessible throughout the lead-up by answering questions about furniture, sending reminders for contracts, and even offering recommendations on rental companies. One element to be aware of is that Keeler has a tent for the upper terrace in case of rain but does not have the side panels you need to shield guests and vendors. My wife and I had to perform some last-minute shopping for those, so the extra protection is good to secure nice and early. Nevertheless, once we arrived at the big day, the on-site coordinator and parking attendant were kind and supportive to us, our vendors, and our guests from start to finish. Despite some morning storms, the garden and venue gave us a gorgeous backdrop for our photos and the entire celebration. Thank you, Team Keeler! Reviewed on 21-08-2023

This is a beautiful venue and was an ideal site for my small, intimate wedding and overall I had a beautiful and happy event. However, there were a few draw backs. Among them, a tour was being given during time that I had rented the space; I was told that I was able to rent the space for earlier than the allotted rental time, but this arrangement was later forgotten. While it was ultimately remedied, it caused me great anxiety as I had already made arrangements for the earlier time with hair and makeup crew. In addition, on the day of the wedding, I was told that my layout plan was not feasible, though it was a sample layout plan that was handed to me as an option during an initial tour of the venue. I was then told that catering/food could not be set up outside, though I had spoken to the venue director about my wishes for this well before the wedding and she never told me this wasn’t a possibility. While this was not anyone’s fault, the weather also resulted in an unexpected change of plans. I had envisioned an outdoor ceremony in the garden and even though it cleared up after a brief thunderstorm, I was not allowed to go through with this plan. The day-of-coordinator, not only did not show any empathy for our disappointment in needing to shift the ceremony, she barked orders at guests and even worse, yelled at my young nephew for climbing on something outside even while he was sincerely apologizing, which then resulted in him crying in the bathroom for over 20 minutes. We were also rushed out by the lights being flicked on and off even though guests and vendors were saying their goodbyes, packing up, and working hard to clean the space (we were still well within our allotted time). While my event was again a happy and wonderful event, these unpleasant and occasionally rude interactions with the day-of-coordinator definitely added unwarranted stress to a momentous day in our lives. Mary Ann, the director of events- was really wonderful in helping me navigate some logistics and was very responsive in the months prior to the wedding with any questions and concerns we had. This venue is a DIY type of wedding, but Mary Ann gives you a whole packet of preferred catering, cake shops, and more for the brides who are not familiar with the area (like I wasn’t) which was helpful. The great thing about this space was that you didn’t have to do much to it because the Gardens area was already so gorgeous on its own. She put my mind at ease and made me feel so confident and comfortable that everything was going to be perfect. And it was (our wedding was in August)! I absolutely fell in love with the garden the first second I saw it. It is the most romantic and charming venue; right out of a story book. It really is time perfect venue if you’re having a smaller wedding. We had originally planned on having a wedding with 150+ people, but I am SO GLAD we decided to keep things small and intimate (we didn’t really have a choice because of the pandemic). The ceremony in the garden was stunning- no extra flowers are needed, but we did opt to have two arrangements on the sides of the brick landing. Then for the reception, we had some tables inside the Garden House and some on the patio and two on the lower lawn. It looked really pretty and allowed us to have a bigger dance floor in the house. We also had about eight high tops dispersed on the lower lawn, where the bar was also set up. It worked out beautifully. The details really fell into place great. We found a caterer and DJ really early on, then locked down a florist for the centerpieces and bridal/bridesmaid bouquets. I ordered flowers wholesale from Costco and made my own arrangements for the hightops, gift table, and ceremony. I would not be deterred by having to coordinate vendors. It really wasn’t too difficult if you know what you want and was not more costly. I ended up getting my hair done right in town at the Adam Broderick salon; I regret not doing a trial because my hair did not come out exactly how I wanted it, but still pretty. My family took over the West Lane Inn, just steps from the museum. I highly recommend staying there! The new owners are so lovely and hospitable and the inn itself is gorgeous! Great for photos! Overall, I had my dream wedding (my husband could care less about the location, which is why I say “I”, lol). Keeler Tavern’s Garden House is quintessentially New England, the staff was so easy to work with and very responsive and communicative, and the grounds just speak for themselves; so pretty! Michael Knortz(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-01-2019 Keeler Tavern historical site is a great venue for a unique, intimate, and elegant wedding reception. Our wedding was in January 2019 and the private tours through the museum and the beautiful fireplace added a unique flare to our wedding. Initially we were concerned that the venue would be too small, especially without the possibility of using outdoor space due to the cold weather. However, with 70 guests the room size was perfect. Our arrangement was one head table for 20 guests, and 4 other tables of 12 guest – this allowed enough space for a DJ, dance floor, bar, tent card table, bounty table, and cake table all within the garden house. The Keeler Tavern venue is only a venue and does not include catering. However, this allows you to truly customize your event to your taste and budget. In addition, Mary Ann was wonderful to work with as she provided an initial list of recommended contractors and gave us her personal experience working with them. The contractors she recommended were extremely professional and operated very efficiently in the venue space. The caterer used the kitchen at the venue and did not need to set-up additional equipment outside. Our wedding reception at Keeler Tavern was truly magical as everything on the day went flawlessly and our guest were very happy and indeed impressed. We highly recommend. Reviewed on 05-04-2019

It was somehow both intimate and personal but also spacious enough for our ~90 person wedding. We had beautiful weather and so we had our ceremony outside in the garden. The sound of the fountain (and floating flowers from our florist, Confetti) were a nice compliment to the greenery and seasonal planted flowers all around us. The barn would have been our rain plan for the ceremony. Luckily, we were still able to take a few moody photos in the barn with slivers of light coming from the windows. Either location (rain or shine!) is perfect for an intimate ceremony. We continued to enjoy the outdoors and had 3 food trucks parked on site. The Garden House was a simple, elegant focal point for the reception and we utilized the fireplace/mantle area for decor. Our band played inside and so guests went in and out of the Garden House to enjoy the good weather and food trucks but also hear the band and cool off in the air conditioning. We couldn't have asked for a better location or staff for the wedding. The on-site person (George) and valet parking worked perfectly. George was a friendly face and checked on us multiple times to make sure we were happy. Keeler is absolutely beautiful any time of year. It's private and intimate and is oozing with history and charm. Mary Ann was such a pleasure to work with. From the very first contact she was prompt in her responses and answered all of our questions. She requested we visit for a tour and spent an hour and a half taking us through all areas used for the wedding - the garden house, kitchen, the upper patio, and of course the beautiful and amazing garden. She even took us through the museum quickly so we could have a look around. The garden alone feels like you've stepped back into another time. Our wedding was in June and the roses were blooming, it's so pretty! The most perfect backdrop for the ceremony, no decor needed! We loved the garden house for it's smaller size to fit our smaller guest list. We had 55 people and it worked great with having a dance floor as well but not looking too empty a room. We loved that this venue is a 'blank canvas' and is completely customizable. We were able to craft the kind of wedding that was unique to us. While a caterer and all aspects of decorating needed to be hired/rented we still felt it was a good deal and we were able to make it work within our budget to have a beautiful day. There is a tented patio, which we didn't even really end up using, but we're very happy that it was available in case of rain. The garden house is gorgeous inside, and needed little decoration since there was gorgeous greenery right outside of each window (in early June). My husband and I could not have imagined a more perfect venue!! We also loved Keeler Tavern's flexibility in bringing in vendors, which allowed us to bring in all the vendors we really wanted to make our wedding perfect (like a food truck and bar set up), although they provided suggestions for vendors when we needed them. All in all, I was thrilled with my choice of venue! Reviewed on 27-06-2017
Layla Lancin(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-09-2017 Perfect venue for a small, intimate wedding. My husband and I got married September 3rd, 2016 with the threat of Hurricane Hermine flying up the coast. This venue had both indoor and outdoor ammenitites- from the barn, tented terrance, garden room, brick patio, to outside garden- so I tried not to worry too much; there were back up plans! The wading pool is a knockout with lanterns at night. Upper terrace was perfect for cocktail hour, as there was a nice breeze, and a break from the hot sun during cocktail hour. The guests were able to roam around the property and arrive at the seated dinner in historic Garden Room. The only few drawbacks of the venue were small dance floor if you have a large crowd and a dated kitchen- we had to rent a cook tent, portable stove/oven, and tables for prep/set up. The chairs and tables they have available are not too wedding friendly- they are useable, but not if you are looking for a rustic, romantic feel. Make sure you ask a lot of questions- Mary Ann is SUPER helpful, friendly, and accommodating! She has a ton of recommendations and the contracts are very fair and feasible. Gardens are maintained beautifully . Great scenery 365 days a year! Growing up in Ridgefield, CT, it was a very special place to get married at. Perfect for anyone !!! Did not feel like we were on Main Street. It is a quiet location with such charm and appeal. Reviewed on 08-09-2016
Anonymous (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-08-2016 My husband and I recently held our wedding ceremony and reception at the Keeler Tavern garden house and it was magical! I couldn't dream of a better garden wedding venue, it is such a beautiful site! Mary Ann was very helpful through the whole experience. The cost of rental is very affordable compared to most other options in CT, but you need to be willing to do a bit more organizing yourself with a variety of vendors to pull everything together since you are just renting the space (or hire a wedding coordinator!) Highly recommended for a gorgeous garden wedding! Reviewed on 18-08-2016

We held our son's engagement party at the Garden House this weekend. The coordinator of events could not have been more helpful and accommodating- she was always accessible throughout our planning. It was a beautiful fall evening and the interior and exterior just glowed.. from the lighting on the trees and the gardens to marble patio to the beautiful sconces and antique lighting inside!. It was a cocktail party format for 85 people and there was plenty of room for people to mingle with tables and hi-tops scattered around. An added treat were the 2 tour guides they made available to us for an hour to tour the museum... our guests loved that! It was a truly beautiful evening in a historic setting- we could not have asked for more.\r Reviewed on 26-10-2015
Jessica Dickinson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-07-2015 My husband and I were married on July 18th, 2015. I am a musician who has played for many many wedding ceremonies, so I have seen many venues and was very picky about choosing ours. The Keeler Tavern was the perfect place for our wedding. We had absolutely no complaints and loved every detail about it. It's a truly enchanting place!\r\rThe venue was a great price, even with having to do our own rentals, catering, decorating, etc. It is the opposite of one of those 'wedding factory' venues, which allowed us to show who we are and make it very personal. Although the garden house has a tiny kitchen, our caterers did an excellent job utilizing it without having to set up a separate tent outside. \r\rMary Ann was wonderful to work with and very accommodating, answering all our questions. The person on site during the day of, George, was also very helpful and kind.\r\rThe garden was a stunning backdrop to our ceremony. It didn't need any decoration since it was so beautiful on its own. Besides the sound of the string quartet and the small reflecting pool/fountain, it was very quiet, with no noise coming in from the street.\r\rThe cocktail hour was on the tented upper patio and down below. We had a jazz pianist play on a keyboard on the upper patio. During the hour we had the guided tours of the Keeler Tavern Museum as an option for our guests, which many took part of and enjoyed.\r\r Our reception was inside the Garden House where our 85 guests sat at 9 tables comfortably. The space was beautiful and elegant. It didn't feel too crowded, although many more than that number you might have to seat guests outside. We had a 5 piece swing band in the corner and moved 2 tables for more dancing room after dinner was finished and it was a great sized dance floor, especially since we did a lot of swing dancing! Having the bar and small tables immediately outside the garden house, and the garden itself, lit up beautifully in the dark, was a great place for guests to wander or have quieter space throughout the evening. \r\rWe highly highly highly recommend having your wedding at the Garden House!\r Reviewed on 04-09-2015
Phyllis Willner(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-07-2016 We planned our daughter's wedding for an early spring day at the Keeler Tavern Museum. The wedding was on May 24 and the garden was lovely. We held the ceremony in the garden, the cocktail hour on the tented upper terrace, and the reception in the Garden House. The Garden House dresses up beautifully with flowers, and it is wonderfully light and airy with 3 walls of French doors. We heard compliments from many of our guests on this beautiful location. It is perfect for a smaller, more intimate wedding. We had 45 guests and plenty of room for a dance floor.\r\rWe also booked the private museum tours for our guests, for a touch of a little something out of the ordinary. The majority of our guests partook in these short tours, which they found interesting.\r\rMary Ann was a delight to work with when booking the venue and helping us throughout the planning. She was very accommodating and helpful, and just plain fun to plan with. Reviewed on 02-06-2015
Kerri Dunne(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-09-2014 My husband and I held our ceremony and reception at the Garden House with 50 of our closest family and friends on Sept. 20th, 2014. It was everything we wanted. The garden had beautiful flowers and greenery and despite being surrounded by homes, was very quiet and private. Inside is very simple but has beautiful period details that need very little dressing up. The staff is very responsive and will do anything to help make your day special. Reviewed on 07-10-2014
Kathryn Ann Fullman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-11-2013 We had our wedding in our early November. Brick terrace, gardens, and reflecting pool were beautiful for pictures. Keeler Tavern went out of their way to make everything look perfect for us, a well-manicured lawn and filling up the reflecting pool for us. We had a 110 guest wedding, fitting 9 tables of 10 in the Garden House and having 2 tables and the bar on the upper terrace under a heated tent. We could not have picked a more beautiful place to have our wedding reception, and the price was very reasonable as well. Reviewed on 07-12-2013
Angela Sagues(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2012 Exquisite interior and lovely garden at a reasonable price. Chairs are somewhat unsightly, but excellent for outdoor use. Staff is extremely kind and professional. The space is elegant enough to stand on its own, but also looks gorgeous decorated. Reviewed on 10-07-2012
