Garden Theater
The historic Garden Theater, built by C. Howard Crane originally opened in 1912., as one of the largest theatre built outside of downtown Detroit, hosting live music and productions. The original theater closed in 1949 and has reopened under several owners. Now, the Garden Theater is back, and better than ever, with state of the art amenities like a full service bar in the main theater and a VIP balcony with incredible architectural integrity and charm that was true to the historic Cass Corridor structures. The revitalized performance and entertainment venue offers unique spaces for wedding ceremonies & receptions, bar mitzvahs, corporate events, concerts, conferences and meeting space. Midtown Detroit's one of a kind event space!

TLDR; BOOK YOUR WEDDING AT THE GARDEN THEATER!We were married at the Garden Theater on 10/6/23 and cannot express the gratitude we have for Amy, BJ, and Biko for helping to host our best day yet. Amy is an angel who will guide you through coordination and ANY questions you have, and BJ and Biko are a detail-oriented dream team, executing the event day-of seamlessly. We DIYâd a LOT (this bride got in a little over her head) and this team, with their amazing staff, got their hands dirtier than anyone was expecting and did it with a smile - it was all due to the flexibility and capabilities they had that our day was as beautiful as it was. Their preferred vendor list also made gathering all the necessary pieces incredibly easy, and it was relieving to know all had worked within the space before - and all were excited to return! I was able to set up an outline for the day, and the Garden staff made it happen. Amy was checking in with me in the Bridal Suite all morning, letting me know when vendors were arriving and assuring me all was going well downstairs. Biko worked endlessly to make sure the set up and dĂ©cor teams were prepared and on track for both the ceremony and reception, and BJ ensured ahead of time that the bride and groom were well taken care of and had never had an empty glass in hand. Every turn, every mile, they did extra - we forgot to create a PowerPoint deck for the TVs and were just going to turn them off, but Amy found my engagement photos on Facebook and created a slideshow the MORNING OF the wedding! Literally the sweetest. Youâll never find a more attentive team. We received SO many compliments from our friends and family about the cool, unique atmosphere of the Garden Theater - not many know about this Detroit treasure! Weeks later, we are still hearing from guests about how they were well-tended to, how beautiful the space was and how theyâd like to return - which we definitely plan to do, as we originally found and fell in love with this venue from a charity event we attended years ago and are hoping to bring it back to the Garden for another year. ;)5 big gold stars to you all!!! <3

I cannot rave about Garden Theater enough!! The venue is stunning and unique, and the staff are unmatched. They are completely customer focused and they're for every step of the way. Amy is so knowledgable and friendly, and BJ and Biko were on site for the wedding making it so easy. They use a site to help you do table set up so you know what will fit and where it will be. All in all, if they are in your budget, I can't recommend them enough. I had a wedding of about 140 people and it was the perfect size.

Garden Theater did a fantastic job hosting our wedding on Aug 26th.Amy was great at showing us what we could expect for our Reception and very easy to discuss our vision. BJ was very detail oriented, and communicated well with our day of coordinator(Heather Burell), she is amazing, look her up you won't be sorry. Biko and Colton were with us during the Reception, made things super comfortable, ready to assist when needed. Also had drinks ready when needed most, lol. Everyone was fun to work with. We got married at the Garden Theater on June 3rd and it was incredible! Not only was the venue so beautiful but the staff made my day go seamlessly. Amy, BJ, Frankie and the rest of the staff were the best! Not only were they so helpful in the design, setup and details, but they made sure it all ran smoothly. Amy was super responsive throughout the process and answered many of the random questions i through at her with detail. We had our wedding and reception in the theater and our cocktail hour in the atrium and our guest are still telling us how cool this venue was. It was such a unique and beautiful venue with amazing staff - I highly recommend booking your big day at the Garden Theater!!

I coordinate the Senior Pinning ceremony for my high school students and their families at the Garden Theater. The process was smooth and efficient in finding the right package that fit for our needs and requests. Working with Amy on the coordination, and then BJ and Biko for the execution of the day of the event was such an easy process. My students and families truly enjoyed the venue and the event overall. Every aspect of working with the team at the Garden Theater (AV tech, Security, event set up and breakdown) was so seamless. I was able to set the logistics of the event and then just show up and allow the staff at the Garden Theater to complete the rest. Highly recommend Durden's Catering as the catering option that i son their preferred vendor list. The food was phenomenal and a great pairing to complete the details of our event. We plan to return as many times as possible to this space and to work with this team to execute our events efficiently and effectively. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The staff at the Garden Theater is incredibly helpful, attentive, and kind. They made our wedding day go by seamlessly. They were there throughout the event checking on us to see if we needed anything. They helped my grandpa get his food and drinks. They were attentive to our guests and helped manage the entire event to bring together all of the vendors. We had a ton of compliments from our family members about how great the sound was and how unique/beautiful the space was. The space doesn't require grand decor because it is so beautiful on its own. We had last-minute changes the night before to the seating chart and they made it all work perfectly. Shout outs to Amy, BJ, and Freddie for their outstanding work but also how awesome they are as people.

The atrium was the perfect place for our ceremony and the metal laser cut backdrop was gorgeous. It also made it super easy to attach decor with just magnets! it has been 3 months since the wedding, and out guests are still raving about our venue.

We had our wedding at the Garden Theater in November 2022 and it was the absolute best day of our lives! Amy and the rest of the staff were phenomenal throughout the whole process. Amy was so energetic from the very beginning, always prompt with communication and very helpful during all of the planning. Our vision was truly captured with the exposed brick, modern, yet romantic vibe of the venue. We received SO many compliments from guests regarding how beautiful the Garden was and how it was the perfect venue. We had the ceremony and reception in the theater room and then guests moved to the front atrium for cocktail hour. It was so convenient for guests and the room flip was quick and efficient. The lighting was phenomenal, everything was clean, and there was more than enough space for everyone. Highly recommend!!!

`My daughter had her eye on Garden Theater for several years as a possible place to get married. From the first phone call with Amy everything associated with the Garden Theater went smoothly, professionally, well thought out, and fun. Amy, BJ, Freddie all worked hard to make my daughter and now son in law's wedding warm, heartfelt, fun, and beautiful. The venue itself is super clean, well maintained, with an industrial vibe of red brick and gun metal sound dampeners. The set up and lighting were beautiful with my daughter getting married in the center of the main theater with the guests surrounding her. They then flipped the room to make it look completely different for the reception while having a wonderful cocktail hour in the foyer and upstairs complete with an ice martini luge. The staff were attentive, enthusiastic, and professional. We would all choose Garden Theater again if we had to do it all over, but of course this is a once in a lifetime event for us.

We got married at the Garden Theater in mid-Sept 2022. Amy, BJ, and the rest of the staff were amazing, and ourselves and our guests very much enjoyed the staff the day of! We chose this venue because of the unique space with an industrial modern and romantic vibe, but fell in love with everything that came with it. Amy was very responsive and answered all our questions promptly, plus she was just as excited for our marriage as we were! I know a lot of our outside vendors also contacted either Amy or BJ and just loved working with them and the rest of the staff. When the big day came, we barely lifted a finger. The entire staff ensured that our day ran smoothly. Even small things, like lightening, were taken care of behind the scenes to make the venue and us shine! We had the ceremony and reception in the main venue space, with the cocktail hour in the foyer and second floor balcony area. All the vendors staff worked together to flip that room in <1hr during the cocktail hour to ensure our wedding timeline ran smoothly! All of our guests had the highest compliments about the ceremony and reception space. Not to mention, Amy had this wonderful idea of having a cigar bar outside (yes, they have a small outdoor area!) and we ran with it. It was a hit! Honestly, we have the highest regards for the Garden Theater. We just wish we could do it all over again. Because of the Garden Theater, we had the best day and best wedding ever.

When we started looking for wedding venues, we saw pictures of the Garden Theater online and scheduled a visit immediately. It was already our frontrunner going into the visit, but once we arrived, we knew it was the right place for us. The mix of modern and industrial touches make it incredibly unique. Not only is the venue beautiful, but the staff is wonderful! Amy, BJ, and Sydney were so great to work with and incredibly responsive. We had to reschedule our wedding twice due to the pandemic and the Garden Theater worked with us to make sure it was an easy process. On the day of our wedding, the venue looked incredible and our guests loved it! My husband is Indian and we wanted to have a baraat prior to the ceremony. The Garden Theater hadnât done this before, but were so excited about it. They figured out how to make it happen and made all the arrangements to ensure it went smoothly! This is just one example of how they go above and beyond for their clients. Unfortunately, during the reception, one of our guests had a medical emergency (everyone is ok!). The staff acted quickly to get him the help he needed. We really canât say enough about the staff. Amy, BJ, and Sydney run a well-oiled machine. We would highly recommend the Garden Theater to any couple planning a wedding!

On the day of our wedding, the venue looked incredible and our guests loved it! My husband is Indian and we wanted to have a baraat prior to the ceremony. The Garden Theater hadnât done this before, but were so excited about it. They figured out how to make it happen and made all the arrangements to ensure it went smoothly! This is just one example of how they go above and beyond for their clients. Unfortunately, during the reception, one of our guests had a medical emergency (everyone is ok!). The staff acted quickly to get him the help he needed. We really canât say enough about the staff. Amy, BJ, and Sydney run a well-oiled machine. We would highly recommend the Garden Theater to any couple planning a wedding!

The exposed brick mixed with modern finishes made for the most romantic atmosphere. More importantly though, the Garden Theater staff is what made the day so special. I worked with Amy Ancevski for well over a year and she supported me extensively throughout the entire wedding planning process. She answered every question I had and worked with my many other vendors extensively to coordinate. Any was not only my go to contact but also my friend! BJ was incredible as well the day of the wedding and ensured the day ran smoothly and perfectly. The food not only tasted wonderful but was presented beautifully - my guests throughly enjoyed the meal. They also were able to accommodate special requests with regard to the diner and bar, which was super helpful. I overall cannot say enough good things about this venue and would not change a single thing about my wedding day. This venue is simply perfect!

If I could give more stars I would to this venue and team. My husband and I Amy and BJ were so great to work with. I feel like once I found this place, everything fell in place. Every vendor I worked with was MORE than willing to work with this team and spoke so highly of them that it put me at ease that this was the best place for us and it was. Our wedding was great, the food was great, the venue was great and a big part of that was due to this team and their hard work and being willing to be there. My wife and I recently had our Sangeet at the Garden Theater. We were absolutely blown away by the venue, their staff and how the event turned out. They did a phenomenal job! We were originally supposed to get married in the summer of 2020, but COVID put a damper on our plans. The Garden Theaters customer service and hospitality through the entire process was amazing! They were so receptive and accommodating to are needs and concerns. They were so amazing we contemplated having our actual wedding there as well.Since our wedding was a two day event (Indian Sangeet, and then traditional white dress wedding) we got to experience multiple venues, their operations, as well as their customer service. I WISH the other venue we had our wedding at was half as receptive as the Garden Theater was. The Garden Theater was so understanding and compassionate with the damper COVID brought to our special day (or weekend really), and the Garden Theater literally did everything they possible could to make our event flawless. Amy stayed in contact with me for well over a year and a half and was there for me EVERY time I called. I cannot say the same about the other venue, and their staff.I honestly cannot say enough good things about the Garden Theater. Thank you Amy and BJ, you did an amazing job!

The Garden Theatre was our wedding reception for the month of June and we could not be more happy with how everything turned out. Literally best day of my life!!! I have to admit that this wasnât the first reception venue we had booked. With covid putting a damper on our original reception location, we had to scramble to find a new location and Iâm THRILLED I stumbled upon this venue. I was a little nervous about scrapping my original wedding plans and having to start from square one at a new location but my team was killer and handled everything so quickly. Amy and BJ answered every email, call and text promptly and just had the best energies!! The tasting they set up for our menu was beyond gorgeous and gave us great insight to the potential their space had for our reception (they designed a whole theme for the tasting included with photo booth service, a DJ, lighting, full service bar etc.) Following the tasting, I was even more hype and totally confident that the space was the right one for my husband and I to celebrate (we are total party peeps). The day of the wedding, execution couldâve not been pulled off more seamlessly. Our crew was insane!! The band was obsessed with the Garden Theatreâs sound system and overall set up. It was like they were performing a full-on concert. Our guests compliment the food and the service. We were even able to have a taco truck outside for our midnight snack which was a hit. I would recommend this venue time and time again. Honestly I wish I could do it all over again and was so sad when the night ended. Going to be dreaming about that day forever!! Thank you Garden Theatre!

What an amazing experience we had at the Garden Theater for my daughter's wedding reception! After postponing a full year due to Covid, Amy, B.J., Sydney and the entire staff did a fabulous job to make the reception magical. The venue is beautiful and our guests were in awe! The food was wonderful and the culinary staff could not have been more friendly and attentive. However, it was the Garden Theater staff that really stood out. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a great time and we did! To me, service is what sets venues apart and the Garden Theater is tops! I would HIGHLY recommend this venue for any event. Thank you again for a fabulous evening!!

This is a nice venue on a nice street in the heart of Detroit. There is parking available and a small outdoor area that can be utilized. The interior is lovely with a gorgeous entryway and original brick in the interior rooms. The staff was exceptionally helpful and willing to answer our multiple questions. Unfortunately we were not able to utilize this venue due to Covid restrictions but I would strongly encourage couples to check it out!

I am so thankful that we chose the Garden Theater as our wedding venue. We unfortunately couldn't use the actual venue for our August wedding due to COVID, however, the staff went over and above to make sure we were able to have a reception SOMEWHERE! They ended up partnering with an outdoor venue and brought the Garden Theater to them! We pulled off an amazing evening and our day was a dream come true! We fell in love with the venue when we first walked in so we were very sad we couldn't use it... Not enough words can describe the amazing venue of The Garden Theater Detroit. The cool vibe of the entrance, to the brick walls, the stage, the beautiful bar and alley way are some of the special features that make this a unique and awesome experience. The food and presentation did not disappoint!!!! Amy and staff are so professional and helpful. Did not miss a beat on great ideas to add to the experience. My wife & I are extremely excited to have our wedding at the Garden Theater in 2021. We had our initial visit back in 2019 for our original date of 2020. We knew this was the location upon walking into the venue. However, due to COVID we had to reschedule our wedding until the summer of 2021. The staff at the Garden Theater (specifically Amy) has held many conversations with my wife and me to get things on track. The rescheduling process has been very smooth and accommodating to our new format and plans. I have held multiple calls regarding menu changes, contract language, guest counts, budget etc. Amy has been on top of all of my requests by reaching out to her team, lawyers, catering to help us navigate during these uncertain times. There are no words to describe what an amazing evening we had at GT. Our wedding was perfect! The first time I saw the GT I fell in love with the venue, and it's hard to believe that our day was even better then we imagined. Our guests are still raving about the awesome time they had. The staff was extremely accommodating, helpful, and friendly. On a day that can often be extremely stressful, they stepped in and made sure it was nothing less than perfect. Amy, BJ, and Sydney are incredible- very responsive, friendly, and professional. I really enjoyed working with them all. From the food, to the staff, to the overall atmosphere, I highly recommend having an event at GT. Everyone we have talked to said how unique, yet elegant the venue was. My only regret is that we cannot relive the day all over again because it was so amazing. Thank you GT for a wedding that not only my husband and I will remember for the rest of our lives, but will cherish the memories with our friends and families.

It has such a unique vibe and we fell in love with it from the moment we stepped in and saw the beautiful decor wall. Our guest raved about the venue, it was so perfect, I cannot say enough good things. Amy and BJ were both amazing to work with. Amy is super helpful and always answered our questions promptly. BJ is fun and laid back, and it made working with him so easy. We were thrilled with everything at The Garden Theatre during the planning as well as the night of our daughterâs wedding 2 weeks ago. We couldnât have been happier and the feedback from our guests was very positive! We were worried about space on the dance floor with 200 guests but it was just perfect and so fun with the band on the stage!! BJ and Amy were most accommodating every step of the way and were exceptionally kind with our last minute and out of the ordinary requests! The food was great, catered by the Block restaurant, appetizers and specialty drinks - loved it all! The mezzanine was awesome for cocktails as we looked over the main floor, prior to dinner, at the tables, flowers, candles etc. The parking was easy, clean and convenient. Security and staff were top notch! A very welcoming and fun venue! We had quite a memorable evening.

They say that your wedding day is supposed to be the most amazing day of your life. Well ours was thanks in large part to the Garden Theater and their amazing staff. We fell in love with the venue, the moment we saw it on The Knot. Amy, BJ and the entire staff were absolutely amazing. From our initial meeting with them, to our wedding day and even after, they made sure everything was spectacular and smooth. Amy, BJ and their staff made sure every detail was covered. There were always there to answer questions for us and made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Our guests are still raving about the food, and how much they enjoyed it. The Block did an amazing job with the food. The bartenders were always asking us if were needed anything; from a drink to asking if they needed us to do anything for us. We are so happy that we chose to have our wedding ceremony and reception there. We had so much fun that we would do it all over again (with one another) just to have another wedding at The Garden Theater.

We just had our wedding at the Garden Theater this summer and it was AMAZING! BJ and the team there made sure that every detail we wanted was taken care of. The space was PERFECT for our large wedding (280 people) and guests couldn't stop talking about it. The sound system was great for dancing and speeches, the lighting was movie-quality, and the outdoor space was a great escape throughout the night (and the best place for a dessert food truck)! The food is also excellent. Can't thank BJ and the Garden Theater enough--we couldn't have asked for a better place for our wedding!!

We just had our wedding at the Garden Theater this summer and it was AMAZING! BJ and the team there made sure that every detail we wanted was taken care of. The space was PERFECT for our large wedding (280 people) and guests couldn't stop talking about it. The sound system was great for dancing and speeches, the lighting was movie-quality, and the outdoor space was a great escape throughout the night (and the best place for a dessert food truck)! The food is also excellent. Can't thank BJ and the Garden Theater enough--we couldn't have asked for a better place for our wedding!!

Most people would have thought that planning a wedding in only 6 months would be daunting, but the staff at the Garden Theater made sure that everything went smoothly. They provided other vendor suggestions when needed, made sure that our schedule was coordinated well with their staff, and were attentive the night of the event. They worked incredibly well with all of our other on site vendors to coordinate their arrivals and departures too. Both Amy and BJ were a pleasure to work with. The caterer was incredible â it was actually great wedding food and even as the Bride I got a chance to sit down and eat! The Garden Theater went above and beyond to accommodate any request we had. I couldnât have asked for a better experience because they provided everything we needed and made sure that we had the most special day. We are so glad that our final decision was The Garden Theater. Throughout the entire process, Amy was extremely helpful. Anytime I needed anything, she was always available for me. She made sure she was there on my wedding day to make sure everything went as planned (she even made sure her birthday plans were made after she saw me at the venue). The venue was perfect. The bar size was perfect, because, let's be honest, no one likes a small bar with a line. The bar tenders were on point. All my guests loved that the bartenders knew exactly what they wanted and were never shy of a pour. The amount of room that the venue can hold is awesome. We had our food catered from cutting edge- the guests could not stop raving about the food and said that the steak was the best steak they ever had. However, I would not have known about cutting edge if Amy did not recommend them to me. Once we got closer to the date, BJ was the man! He made sure everything happened the way I wanted it. He made sure everyone gave 100% and I could not have asked for better. We (including my guests) all had such a great time, and I thank Amy, BJ and Colbin for making it happen. If you want a great place to have a wedding, reception or both- I highly recommend The Garden Theater.. and it's not only because of the venue but also because of the awesome service and attention you will get from Amy and BJ. This venue is without a doubt the most beautiful Iâve ever seen. Additionally, the staff was insane amazing. The bartenders, waiters and event staff were so kind and hardworking. Our guests kept talking about how it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Iâm so glad we went with the in-house catering because it was phenomenal. BJ, Amy and Colbin all ensured the day went off without a hitch. Over a year of planning went into this day, and it turned out even better than we expected. Every single question, concern or planning hiccup was handled in a timely and compassionate matter. Not to mention, when we had a last minute issue with our placecards, Amy literally sat down with us to redo them....come on!! The bar was so well stocked and the drinks were great. People mentioned how much they loved all the drink options!! They let us make the night our own with decor, special additions of signage and photos and slideshows on the TVs. We were so impressed with the staff, the cleanliness and uniqueness of the venue and the overall vibe. The Garden Theater is a dream venue! The space is breathtakingly beautiful, and the staff was a dream to work with! From the start Amy is so personable and welcoming that you feel like you've been friends for years, and that feeling continues as you work with BJ later on in the planning process. The day of our wedding the entire staff was so kind. The servers searched out me and my husband to ensure we always had food and drinks so we didn't have to think about a thing, and continually offered their congrats and compliments! Setting up prior, they helped more then ever expected and sang songs/played music to entertain us. Even at the end of the night as everything was being cleaned up, the staff made it fun and you can tell they all truly enjoyed their jobs, which makes such a difference in your event! The food and drinks were also amazing. Alcohol is never a cheap cost in planning any party, but you get your money worth, as they never short pour a drink!!! Being from a family that has owned/worked at many different banquet venues, I was so picky about our choice and had extremely high standards. The Garden Theater far exceeded all my expectations, and impressed every single guest! Almost two months after our wedding, we still get compliments on the venue, and how it was the most unique/fun/beautiful venue anyone has ever been to a wedding at! They also provide a list of great vendors in the area that helps you find amazing vendors for every aspect of the wedding. We were even connected with a great quick sketch artist, that was a massive hit! Although I loved everything about The Garden Theater, the absolute best part was that they let us have our fur baby be apart of the ceremony and even provided references for a dog taxi service to take him home for us before food was being served.

First of all, the venue is new enough that a lot of our guests had not been there or even heard of it before. When they arrived, we got so many compliments on the layout and how perfect it was for our wild NYE party! The stage was perfect for dancing the large bar was perfect to accomodate our large party. It was a somewhat complicated event since there were a lot of moving parts and various unique experiences- from mariachi bands to graffiti boards, from photo walls to grand entrances in the dark, from pinatas, to Sparty's surprise appearance, to a total flip of the theater space. Even with the extensive planning we weren't quite sure how it would all come together. We need not have worried as The Garden crew pulled it all off without a hitch. They worked collaboratively with the other vendors including the caterer, day-of-coordinator, DJ, and floral designer. It was like magic as the ceremony space was transformed into the reception space in just over and hour. Our guests- most from out of town were raving about what a cool venue it was. I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the work of Colbin Beals, the go-to, get-it done, don't sweat it guy at The Garden. He is the nicest, hardest working, knowledgeable, and reassuring person, and he made the entire process fun and as stress free as a wedding can be. Thank you to everyone at The Garden for making my daughter's and son-in-law's wedding dreams a reality.

My daughter's wedding was held at The Garden this June. We LOVED our wedding at The Garden Theater! First of all, the venue is amazing. It is different then your typical wedding venue and all of our guests were in love with it just as much as we were! Second of all..the food, YUM! So delish. During cocktail hour guests commented on how nice the servers were, coming around to guests with seconds, thirds, and even fourths, making sure everyone got enough. During cocktail hour, they flipped the room from ceremony to reception. Once the reception started, food was served right away, still hot! They did great:)Last off...my man, BJ! The event coordinator is the best. You tell him what you want and he makes it happen. If I could do this day all over again, I would have had it here 100%. Guests loved it and most of all, we loved it. It was the perfect night!

I've worked at multiple wedding venues in management roles so I had high standards and knew what I wanted and what I didn't for my own wedding. I was nervous booking The Garden Theater due to the fact of it being a newer venue and them not having many reviews to go off of. BJ couldn't have been more incredible to work with!! He's always looking for your best interest and will do his best to make it happen for you. All of my friends in the industry would tell me \"BJ's the man!\" and he lived up to their comments. We decided to use their catering which was one of the best decisions we've made. The food was spectacular, our guests loved it! My husband basically licked the plate clean! The service was on point from security, the stage tech, bartenders and servers. The ambiance is irreplaceable and can't be duplicated. It's a one of a kind venue that not many people have seen yet, huge selling point to me. It also gave our guests a new positive perspective on Detroit. We had the few hesitant guests worried of traveling downtown and it blew them away. I wish I could have my wedding over again every weekend. However, I don't think BJ would allow for that to happen đ
