The George Washington Hotel is a hotel wedding venue located in Washington, Pennsylvania. This premier, historic, boutique hotel and venue space dates back to 1923. Architect and designer William Lee Stoddart was the mastermind behind this elegant space. It originally featured a movie theater and theater foyer. Woven throughout its rich history are many notable guests who came to visit, such as Al Capone, Henry Ford, Harry Truman, and Lou Gehrig. Eventually, as the years went on, this venue shifted its focus to strictly being a hotel. Kyrk Pyros, who is the current owner, was the one who meticulously restored it and made it the dazzling wedding venue it is today. Couples will find the hotel ready to host not only their ceremony and reception, but also their bridal shower, engagement party, and rehearsal dinner.

The George Washington Hotel was an absolute delight to work with for our wedding day! Erica and Brooke were the venue coordinators and helped answer all questions leading up to our event. They were responsive and flexible, and worked perfectly with our planner and our other vendors. We had the venue from Friday to Sunday morning which made it very intimate for our bridal party. The venue itself is stunning and offered multiple spaces for the different parts of our day - ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and the afterparty were all in one building, but different rooms / areas of the hotel. The food was excellent - from the snacks delivered to the bridal suite to the reception dinner, everyone was impressed. Thanks to the GW for making our day seamless! Reviewed on 20-10-2023

Words cannot even begin to describe how spectacular our experience was working with The George Washington Hotel and its staff! My husband and I got married on 04.29.23 and are beyond grateful we found this venue. It is a one-stop shop to fit all your wedding needs! They have a room for everything from the ceremony to the reception, to an afterparty. If you're looking for the elegance of a hotel but the privacy of a private venue look no further! The venue speaks for itself in its grandeur and historical beauty. Erica, our wedding coordinator, was a joy to work with! She is so friendly, professional, and extremely responsive during the entire process. The support we received from her and Rob, the General Manager, was unmatched. Everything was impeccably timed and there wasn't a detail they didn't think of. The food was phenomenal throughout the entire evening. I can't say enough positive things about Erica and this venue! We had our wedding here 5-20-23. Ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, after party, morning after âgrab and goâ breakfast. Everything went perfectly smooth! I felt like everything was organized from the moment we got there to set up Thursday prior. The food was delicious and we have gotten so many compliments on our meal choices! They were very accommodating with setting up our meal and beverage package. We swapped out a beer for seltzer and changed an appetizer flavor, never an issue. Erica and Brooke were always so easy to reach out to through email if we ever had a question. We also had them set up our cookie table and that looked great, even supplied the plates and risers. If you want an all-inclusive location, this is it. Even the after party food in Bradford lounge was tasty! Reviewed on 26-05-2023

We had our wedding at the GW on 5/6/23. From the very first venue tour working with this team has been amazing. Not only is the venue beautiful and charming with so many different spaces, but the professionalism and service of the staff is top notch. Erica and Brooke are so responsive and always happy and eager to help. Robert runs the venue perfectly and it was just such a pleasure to work with them all for this process. Erica made sure every single small need was met. The staff bent over backwards to make our day perfect. I was a very particular and type-A bride and there was no request i had that ever felt like too much. The food was INCREDIBLE which we were not expecting! All of our guests raved about the food for days to come. There are a million good things that can be said about this place. There was not a single thing we would have changed about our wedding day or wedding planning process. Thank you so much to the GW team for making our wedding fantastic and perfect. We used the George Washington for our entire wedding weekend â our ceremony rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, wedding day prep, ceremony, reception, after party, hotel rooms, and breakfast following morning. They executed extremely well at every single event! They were eager to accommodate my detail oriented plans and truly wanted us to have the wedding of our dreams. The venue and their set up lends to having everything all in one, which made planning streamlined. Their packages were fair, clear, and accommodating. Lauren Dull(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-10-2020 I don't even know where to begin with how this venue exceeded my expectations. We had to switch our wedding venue 40 days out due to covid guidelines. I reached out to the George Washington Hotel on a whim and they responded the same night letting me know that my date had actually recently become available. The event coordinator, Lia, is a SAINT. She is absolutely amazing at her job from her initial tour up until days after the wedding, she met every need presented. The venue is absolutely GORGEOUS, especially if you are going after a vintage theme. Its also spacious. Its super convenient as well that the ceremony space & reception are in the same building and valet parking is including in pricing. The cocktail hour is right in the lobby & we were also able to rent another space out for the after party where we had pizza & drinks for whoever stuck around after the reception. It was also SO nice to just be able to ride the elevator upstairs to go to sleep in the bridal sweet which is ALSO gorgeous and included in pricing. The GW hotel also does their own catering and the food was AMAZING. Every guest I spoke with said it was by far the best wedding food they've ever had. To add the icing on the cake, pun intended, my cake got knocked over during the grande entrance of our bridal party at the reception but Lia (the wedding coordinator & goddess) had one of our quarter sheet cakes out (our top layer of our knocked over cake was real but bottom two layers were fake. we had sheet cakes to cut and pass to guests) on our cake stand before my husband and I were even announced. I swear she had replaced the cake in under 2 minutes. Even though we were kind of bummed about the cake, it was a total accident by a third party and we couldn't believe how Lia handled it with such grace and made sure we didn't even notice until a relative decided to come tell us. With all the stress that went along with my husband and I planning this wedding during covid, the GW Hotel was a GOD sent and we couldn't be happier that our wedding ended up being there. I would 1000000% recommend this venue over and over again and I'm so gracious for their AMAZING standards. YOU WANT TO BOOK THIS VENUE! Reviewed on 13-10-2020

Patty Scott(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-05-2019 My daughter had her wedding at The George Washington Hotel in May 2019 and we could not have been happier! First of all, the venue itself is gorgeous with its vintage charm, two story ballroom, beautiful chandeliers, balconies, and hardwood floors. My guests that had booked overnight accommodations loved the history. How cool is it to stay in a room where The Beatles or Marilyn Monroe stayed? Those that stayed at the hotel loved just having to go downstairs for the ceremony and reception and not having to drive after. We even had an after party in the bar downstairs. But what was really impressive was the staff and the service they provided! They all went above and beyond to make our day perfect! One of the best things about using this venue is that we didn't have to do much at all! They did all the food in-house and alcohol, set-up and clean-up (including cake-cutting and cookie table for no extra charges), and provided linens, chair covers, and offered many decorations with no additional cost. Lia, the Director of Events, always answered my random texts within minutes and was super easy to talk to and always eager to help! Since my daughter also held her ceremony there, Lia coordinated all the timing of the events which went off without a hitch. So many guests complimented how smoothly things ran and were very impressed that they never had to wait for cocktails, hors dâoeuvres, and dinner that immediately followed. Lia not only was open to any of our unique ideas, but also offered many great ones herself. And, dinner was amazing! I was a little concerned since we selected a lower priced menu; however, sooo many guests loved the chicken, the beef, and the vegetarian option! Everyone was very impressed how Chef Jimme could make 181 great meals! The other staff members were impressive as well. Felicia, who set everything up in the ballroom, did a fabulous job with our cookie table! We never had to worry about cookies being replenished, the gift box full of money, or even cleaning up all our breakable items. Similarly, every person I spoke with at the GW is super friendly and helpful. Tim from the front desk is the friendliest person ever and Brooke, who I made financial arrangements with, was super helpful as well. Another person who went above and beyond was Tyler, owner of Tylermade, who sometimes helps at the hotel. When we were struggling doing our own lighting, he gladly stepped in to help & even got up on a ladder and arranged flowers on the mantle for us!Obviously, I canât say enough about this amazing wedding venue! Numerous guests told us it was the best wedding ever! I would highly recommend the George Washington because of the beautiful venue, excellent food, and awesome service! Reviewed on 16-06-2019
Kristina Porada(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-08-2018 If I were to rate this venue based on looks alone, I would not hesitate to give it a 5-star rating! It's absolutely gorgeous if you're into vintage, classy and unique venues. However, I have to say the wedding coordination at the venue is pretty bad. When we booked the venue, I had all the faith in the coordinator that was there at the time! I loved him... then he left. The guy who took his place was awful. His background was not in the wedding industry, but the restaurant industry. He treated everything like a transaction, and lied all. the. time. Though we had already signed the contract, he failed to follow what was written in contract. The day of the wedding, we had gone over the timeline many times before, because I wanted to extend cocktail hour. He messed the entire timeline up. None of the drinks or h'ordeveoures were ready. I was livid. He deliberately ignored everything I'd said to him. We also were guaranteed the bar on-sight as an after party. He fought us on that as well. Since this, he's been fired and put in jail for fraud. There are other people there in his place, but I have a friend getting marriage their shortly, and they are experiencing the same problems as us. I would recommend this venue because it's gorgeous, but I would look into hiring a wedding planner. I do have to say, my Mom planned my bridal shower at this venue, and it went perfectly. I wish I had the same luck. The rest of the staff is amazing though! The chef is amazing. Reviewed on 26-03-2019
Amanda Windhorst(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-10-2018 I could not have asked for a better venue for my wedding day! The vintage decor fit right in with my theme of vintage/Victorian. The Washington Room was where my ceremony was held, and it was breath taking! The windows run from ceiling to floor and the chandeliers just add that perfect Victorian touch. The ballroom was just as beautiful! I had approximately 125 guests and it was the perfect size. You could even have much more with the balcony above. This was the absolute best place for all of my out or town (and in town guests) to have the ability to stay the night and not have to worry about extra accommodations. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is just because you do have to remember this hotel is very old. The rooms are not insulated well and you can hear the natural sounds outside. I got countless compliments throughout the night with everyone saying \"This is the most beautiful venue and wedding I have ever been to\". I would recommend the George Washington Hotel to every soon-to-be bride and groom that comes my way! Reviewed on 01-11-2018
Alyssa Tabisz(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2018 My husband and I had a lot of ups and downs with the George Washington Hotel. We first booked our date with Brad. A few months later we get a call saying our contact will now be Chris. At first we were worried but it ended up being a blessing! Chris was amazing & extremely competent at his job. Both he & his crew were very flexible & were able to meet with us on very short notice (we planned our wedding while living 7 hours away). Chris even did everything in his power to help us out when there was a miscommunication which resulted in us losing over $7,000 (side note: this venue bases final price off of the estimated number of guests, which we estimated at time of booking, not the final count so make sure to underestimate to the extreme!!) Throughout the whole process Chris remained in contact and helped a great deal with any suggestions or troubles that arose. My husband & I agreed that we were in good hands and had no doubt our wedding would go without a hitch under Chrisâ management. Fast forward to a week before the wedding, we receive yet another call, this time stating that Chris would no longer be our contact. We were devastated. We were told Jeff was now our contact along with another gentlemen who didnât even introduce himself to us. Iâm not talking ill of Jeff by any means, he seemed helpful and friendly enough, but the other man was not friendly at all. We witnessed him yelling at the front desk woman very loudly in front of our guests, he didnât take the time to introduce himself and overall seemed to be very out of touch. Iâm sure itâs very hard to be put in a new role like that but it takes no effort to be welcoming. Also, I was very upset about the checking in process for guests who were staying at the hotel. Each and every single guest, including my husband and I, had difficulty checking in. Apparently each and every one of our reservations were messed up in one form or another. It was very embarrassing! All in all the venue was gorgeous & Chef Jimmie was incredible! Also, the staff was extremely professional & polite. If I could do everything all over, I would still chose this venue. It truly is one of a kind and our guests were blown away by its history and elegance. I would definitely recommend The George Washington Hotel for any event you may have, however, make sure youâre prepared to provide a final count a year and a half before your wedding & and be ready to deal with multiple changes in management. Kristina Woodside(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-08-2017 My wedding at the GW was gorgeous! My husband and I were planning our wedding from out of town and the staff at the hotel was extremely accommodating. Halfway through our planning process the coordinator changed and Claire was happy to do a Skype call to meet us and go over our vision for the ceremony and reception. My husband and I were so worried that a staff change in the middle of the planning process was going to be a disaster but we were wrong (thankfully)! A few hiccups happened here and there over the course of the wedding weekend - there was a leaky air conditioner where the cocktail reception was supposed to be, we ran out of alcohol early on in the night, but Claire and her team were on top of it every step of the way and our guests never even noticed! We simply moved the cocktail reception to the main lobby and the hotel staff ran to the liquor store to restock the bar! One of the best things about the GW Hotel is that they do it all for you! You don't have to worry about set up, clean up, hiring outside vendors for food or linens or design your own centerpieces. They literally do it all and they do it all beautifully. The only big issue with the hotel was the guest rooms. I know that it is an old building but half of the guest rooms had no air conditioner at all and it was a very hot weekend. Some of the rooms had window units to keep the rooms cool, but others had no units at all (and those rooms were like 80 degrees). Thankfully, the bridal suite was not one of the hot rooms! Overall I couldn't have a imagined a more perfect evening. My husband and I were extremely pleased! Reviewed on 14-06-2016

Reanna Roberts(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-11-2009 I had my wedding on Nov 28, 2009 at the george washington hotel. All through the planning they were more than helpful and accomodating for me. My ceremony and reception were held at the venue. Once the day came, though, there were some downfalls. The doors to the ceremony room were not open until 15 minutes before the ceremony, so guests were crowded in the lobby and rushed to be seated. I am unsure as to how the cocktail hour went, because we were having photos done at that time. During the reception and after there were a few issues, also. We had an unruly groomsman that we had to ask to leave after we cut him off from teh bar, and the waitstaff were taking drinks outside to him after it was communicated that he was cut off, they were freely serving the photographers and the DJ, who were not to be drinking, and we didn't get nearly as much of the left over food as we should have. We had a cake for 150 people, maybe 125 showed up, and there was not one slice left. the slices were only MAYBE 1/4\" wide each, also, so its not like they were giving large pieces. Also, What food they did give us as leftovers, was cross contaminated so its not edible anyway. (They packaged the fish and chicken together), and we had very little of any other leftovers, which there was plenty left of when they were tearing down the buffet. The suite was very nice, and they were kind enough to give the groom/groomsmen a suite to hang out in before the ceremony. Reviewed on 02-07-2011
