Stately Grandeur in the Heart of Athens
The Georgian Hall is a wedding venue nestled in Athens, GA. This elegant location is ideal for wedding ceremonies and receptions, as well as showers and rehearsal dinners. As a historic site, this venue possesses a timeless charm suitable as the foundation for a variety of weddings. For more than a century, this hall has functioned as a premier event space and a center for social interaction in the city. Located within the Georgian building, this hall was built in 1908. Its story began as a hotel and it was considered a jewel in Athens for get-togethers and ensembles among the local populace. It operated as such until 1975. In 1986 it was transformed into a residential space with commercial operations on the lower level. More recently, in 2016 the ballroom was purchased and renovated, winning an award for heritage preservation and construction. The owner’s intention was to enliven the building and restore it to its original look and feel. With cooperation between craftsmen and artisans, they together brought life back into this space that is and always has been perfect for entertaining. The Georgian Hall’s Grand Ballroom and Lounge demonstrates a contemporary take on traditional architecture. The white Grecian columns and swirling chandeliers nod to tradition while the cool gray walls are modern and sleek. For a dose of glamor and luxury, the tile floor features a Greek-style design throughout it. The location functions well for a variety of ceremony types, from elopements to religious weddings and more. This flexibility further makes the hall an excellent setting for weddings of all styles and tastes. At the Georgian Hall, they provide both catering and bar services. Enjoy their delicious dishes while being waited on by their exceptional and professional staff. A number of rentals are also available to aid you in preparing the venue for your special day. Weddings with a range of guest list lengths can be held here. The spacious 2,200-square-foot ballroom can host a maximum of 180 individuals while the intimate 1,800-square-foot lounge 120. For especially large parties the two spaces can be combined to accommodate up to 250 individuals, depending on the style of your reception.

Georgian Hall made all of our wedding dreams come true. From the moment we stepped into the venue on a tour, we knew it was where we wanted to get married. It’s classic and elegant ballroom is breathtaking enough; however, we underestimated the incredible team behind those gorgeous wood doors! Lindsey, Lisa, and Maddie are a dream team. Through the entire process, they were informative, helpful, calmed all of our nerves, and just overall wonderful people! After every meeting we had with them, my fiancé and I would always leave feeling reassured about our day and feeling so lucky to have the opportunity to work with them. You can trust this team to accommodate to their best of abilities all of your wishes and requests. They even worked so well with a couple of our other vendors who had never worked an event at Georgian Hall. We can’t say enough good things about this venue and their incredible staff!

The Georgian Hall venue and staff made for a most elegant, delicious and festive Rehearsal Dinner and Post Toast! The setting is absolutely gorgeous and like stepping back in time. We used the bar side for both events. The Georgian flipped the space seamlessly. Lindsey is very experienced and capable. Meg, our event manager, was very attentive and thorough and friendly. They made an outstanding team.

Georgian Hall hosted our wedding in June. They worked with South Kitchen to provide the food. So, food, drinks, and venue management (tables, linens, set-up, etc.) are all with the same group. This was extremely convenient and made planning much easier. We had an amazing experience at Georgian Hall, and we really appreciated the work and thought that Shannon Woolsey put into making our day special. I’ll go over everything one by one in this review. Shannon Woolsey and the Team: Before the wedding, Shannon was very communicative, transparent, and easy to work with. On the day of, Shannon and all of the staff really went above and beyond. We used Georgian Hall for both the ceremony and reception. The venue flip, set up for food, and bar service all went off without a hitch. While managing all of that, Shannon made sure that my wife and I got taken care of. The whole staff was kind and professional. It was obvious how hard Shannon was working to make things perfect. Venue and Set Up: Georgian Hall is really beautiful on its own. The columns and tiling in the space are elegant. We did not feel the need to spend extra on decorations or too much on flowers. The venue works well for both the ceremony and reception. We felt like we had plenty of space, the A.C. was working well on a hot day, and the bridal suite was convenient and provided a nice space to get ready. Georgian Hall provides all the tables, cutlery, and linens for the reception. They were all high quality. We liked not having to go elsewhere for these details. They really kept it easy. Food: The food was standout. South Kitchen did an awesome job. We had: the chicken, shrimp meuniere, grits, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and a salad. Our out-of-town guests were mostly from Chicago and they liked the southern flair (you don’t have to get southern food, we choose to). There was definitely enough food, and we had numerous guests tell us that it was some of the best food they’d had at a wedding. Since the kitchen is another room in the venue, I think this ensures that the food doesn’t end up cold (like catered food sometimes can). Drinks: We opted for a signature cocktail (a French 75), and it was such a hit! Our guests had a lot of these, and my wife and I loved them. We could tell that they used fresh lemon juice, good champagne, and nice gin in the cocktail. Shannon and team even thought to make fresh lemonade for the children who attended. My wife and I keep ordering these in nice restaurants, and not one has even come close to tasting as good as they did at Georgian Hall. We also had beer, wine, and mixed drinks. The bar used high quality wines (we got compliments on the wine selections from our guests who have high wine standards), had nice beers, and I noticed that they were using good liquors for the mixed drinks. They didn’t cheap out at all when providing alcohol and it showed in the quality of the drinks on the day of. This was definitely worth it. Value for the Money: Overall, we felt that the convenience of the venue (tables, cutlery, plates, etc. all included with no need to move guests to another location for reception), superior customer service from Shannon and team, and the phenomenal food and drinks, were more than we were expecting for the price that we paid.

We hosted our son's rehearsal dinner at The Georgian and it was a fabulous evening! The food and service were especially excellent. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Shannon is the prize of this establishment. She is so very kind and flexible! There was a cocktail hour, dinner with toasting, and also a welcome party afterwards for any wedding guests. They helped to organize and coordinate the entire evening seamlessly.

Georgian Hall EXCEEDED our expectations!! From day one they replied to my emails, booked us a tour, and from there we fell in love with this space and the people working there! Communication is so important, and they go above and beyond to meet every need you want! The food was absolutely fantastic! Our guest are still raving about this!! I can’t say enough about this venue, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to host an event, especially a wedding! Our vision of the most perfect day, couldn’t have done it without the staff here! I could not have been happier with our Rehearsal Dinner at Georgian Hall in December 2022! Our venue manager was very professional, easy to work with, answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly, and had me feeling at ease throughout the entire process. Even with my not being able to attend a tasting or ever seeing the actual venue space, I felt like I was in good hands. The space is beautiful and it is a real plus that they are associated with South Kitchen where the food is known to be excellent. That really cut down the stress level knowing that I didn’t have to pick an outside caterer and the food we picked was outstanding! My guests all raved about my event and the staff was fabulous.

In our meetings leading up to the wedding, Shannon was professional, respectful, always very organized and detail-oriented. She responded promptly to questions and concerns not only from us but from all of the vendors. Shannon always conveyed a sense of calm and confidence that the event was going to be exactly what we wanted – which certainly helped to minimize stress. On wedding day her team was truly amazing. The food and service were outstanding – beyond our high expectations. I received many comments from friends and relatives who made a point to complement the excellent food and extraordinary service. Obviously, we don’t see a lot of weddings from behind the scenes but even our wedding coordinator was extremely impressed with the execution of Shannon and her staff. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone. Well done Shannon and team!!

The location right in the heart of downtown is hard to beat, and the event space is gorgeous. Lindsey was so helpful even before we booked the venue in giving us options for the space and providing a tour on Zoom with us since we lived out of town. She was always quick to provide us information and answer any questions we had. Shannon planned and coordinated the event, and she was so easy to work with and helped us through the layout, decorations, and food choices. She was always accommodating and made herself available any time. She made recommendations, which were very helpful, and was always open and willing to listen to any ideas we had. The event itself was perfect. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and professional. And the food was delicious! We really could not ask for anything more! Our family picked Georgian Hall as the venue for the Rehearsal Dinner for our son and his bride. The experience was made easy from the initial booking until the night of the event. Lindsey and Shannon were a delight to work with. The entire staff made our event seen effortless as professionals. Our evening was perfect! Georgian Hall is beautiful and the food catered by South Kitchen was off the charts Delicious! We’ve had so many compliments from our guests on the venue and food. Georgian Hall is beautiful and the food catered by South Kitchen was off the charts Delicious! We’ve had so many compliments from our guests on the venue and food. Deciding to go with Georgian Hall for my wedding reception was the best decision I made besides marrying my husband of course. The food was amazing, our guest can not stop raving about it. All the food is catered by the restaurant in the same building. When we went to our tasting, all the food was delicious it was so hard to decide what to serve at our reception.The events team is great, they are very responsive and went above and beyond to make sure our day turned out perfect. There are lots of emailing back and forth to make sure they have every detail down, and once you have the final headcount they send you a 3D rendering of what the space layout. It was really a one stop shop, they provided all the tables, chairs, linens, dishes, flatware, cake stand, etc. Also they linens don't have to just be white or ivory. You have lots of colors to choose from and they give you the option to upgrade them to fancier linens for a small fee. The Venue is somewhat small, it was the perfect size for my wedding which we had around 95 people. I would say anything bigger than that it might be a tight squeeze for a sit down dinner. Overall it was a great experience and I don't have a single complaint.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Georgian Hall in May 2022. We couldn't be more thrilled with how everything went. Of course the venue is beautiful, and the huge windows make it a perfect place to enjoy the sun for a daytime event in the hot Georgia spring. The food and drinks were great (although I was honestly too out of it to enjoy them at the time, the staff made sure to pack up a little bit of everything for us to try later, a gesture we appreciated very much)! Speaking of the staff, they were really on top of it for the whole event. We worked with Shannon as our coordinator, and she really made the whole thing work. Shannon was very communicative, even throughout the busy season of graduation events. She answered all of my (many + detailed!) questions very clearly and promptly. She was incredibly helpful during the stressful last couple weeks before our wedding. I can't express how much of a relief it was to have such a reliable and experienced person as our venue coordinator. Whenever I was stressed about other things not coming together, I reassured myself that at least Shannon and Georgian Hall had the most important stuff covered!

The location is unbelievable, and the service/coordination was even better! Maddie was on top of it the entire night and was so great to work with throughout the entire planning process. My guests loved the building history and beauty, the ambiance, the convenience to everything in downtown Athens including hotels and especially the food and service!!The building itself is gorgeous! My husband loved having an actual bar space and I loved having the option for my guests to flow in and out of the lobby as they wished. The upstairs club room (and terrace!) was perfect for getting ready before the wedding and used as a spot for our band and photographers to take a break during. The space is more on the formal side but it is still a super fun party atmosphere. The food was DELICIOUS and all service was superb! There were a ton of food and drink options to choose from and we loved having local beer on tap! Everyone made a point to tell me how good the food was and what a wonderful job the staff and service did. My family even commented that clean up and break down was swift and extremely organized. Maddie and Lindsey were a total dream team to work with and made planning easy and stress-free. They are open to new ideas and very flexible so that your vision can come to life. They were with me every step of the way, answering all my annoying questions and walking me through the process. I only had a day-of coordinator and for me that was enough since they were so helpful and accommodating.The Something Blue car is also really sweet and a great way to exit and end the night. I can’t thank everyone enough who had a role in helping and I highly, highly recommend Georgian Hall for any event. It was a truly perfect day and my only regret is that I won’t get to do it all again!

I am so grateful that we booked with Georgian Hall!!! We booked in 2019 and ended up booking a reschedule for covid. The staff was consistently responsive, kind, and accommodating throughout the two years. Day-of was also PERFECT. They helped make my vision come to life and I was totally overwhelmed! Also, the whole staff was so kind and attentive - it makes SUCH a hug difference. 10/10 recommend!

I am so grateful that we booked with Georgian Hall!!! We booked in 2019 and ended up booking a reschedule for covid. The staff was consistently responsive, kind, and accommodating throughout the two years. Day-of was also PERFECT. They helped make my vision come to life and I was totally overwhelmed! Also, the whole staff was so kind and attentive - it makes SUCH a hug difference. 10/10 recommend!

Georgian Hall was the absolute best wedding reception venue we could have imagined. The food and drinks were incredible (six weeks later and I still have people telling me how great the biscuits and shrimp étouffée were), and the space was set up perfectly for our band and our guests. We loved the getaway car as well. Overall, highly recommend — the venue itself and the coordinating team took all of the stress out of planning, and made our wedding day a dream come true!

Georgian Hall was the absolute best wedding reception venue we could have imagined. The food and drinks were incredible (six weeks later and I still have people telling me how great the biscuits and shrimp étouffée were), and the space was set up perfectly for our band and our guests. I would have had my wedding reception at no other location in Athens!! Maddie and Lindsey are so organized and detail oriented and were so attentive to our every need. The planning process was so easy and stress-free, Maddie was always so quick to respond to emails, several times after normal business hours! She was able to answer all of our questions in detail and even if she didn't have the answer right away, she would check with the appropriate person and get back to us ASAP. However, we didn't have that many questions because Maddie seemed to think of everything, several things that we didn't even know to ask and hadn't thought about! Another pro, we used several different vendors, most had a history of working at the Georgian and were so excited to hear that was our venue, and Maddie worked so well with all of them. Every staff member did a fantastic job and we are so grateful that the Georgian team worked so hard to make our wedding the perfect night :)

From the passed hors d'oeuvres, incredible food stations, amazing staff and beautiful space, we could not have asked for a better night. Our guests are still going on and on about how much they loved the night at the Georgian Hall (and the shrimp and grit station was an absolute hit!). In addition, the Georgian Hall ensured we felt safe in the space during COVID. Maddie and Lindsey went above and beyond to support me throughout this process, especially as a very stressed out COVID bride!

We hosted our sons rehearsal dinner at Georgian Hall last weekend. This was a rescheduled event from late March because of Covid 19. We had a dinner for 32 guests that went smoothly. Facilities and servers were great (all nice and Covid compliant) and the food was spectacular. This venue is beautiful and the Lounge was the perfect spot for our dinner.

They instituted shielded serving stations where food was put onto the guest's plate by someone wearing a mask and gloves. That way all of the guests weren't touching the serving utensils. They also took proper measures to sanitize everything. It was truly a blessing to have Georgian Hall as our wedding ceremony and reception location and vendor!

Upon our first visit we were still between venues but Lindsey's knowledge on every detail of the building and the location being so convenient (in the heart of downtown Athens) made our ultimate choice a no-brainer. The space is so beautiful and elegant; the old-meets-new charm cannot be replicated and it photographed so perfectly! As if everything wasn't perfect enough, THE FOOD cannot be beat! I have heard from so many of our guests about how impressed they were by each food station and a lot of people have said it's the best wedding food they have ever experienced. We may be biased but definitely agree with them. I would recommend the Georgian Hall to absolutely anyone - everyone was so easy to work with and allowed us to give our reception as much personality as we wanted. We will forever cherish every memory from our engagement and wedding weekend knowing the Georgian Hall was the highlight!

I would highly recommend Lisa (event manager), Lindsey (venue manager), and the team at Georgian Hall for a wedding or special event in Athens. Not only is it a gorgeous venue in a perfect location near hotels, restaurants, bars, and things to do, but they provide amazing service and put on a great event! My husband and I just got married at Georgian Hall last week, and from the moment we took our first tour in June, their team was incredible! After that tour and speaking with Lindsey, we didn't need to look anywhere else. They were so easy to work with and so helpful when it came to finalizing details and making everything just right. We did our ceremony and reception in the same place and the logistics of \"flipping\" the space must be crazy, but they made it look easy and did it quickly. My guests raved about the food - best wedding food they've ever had. Booking a venue that included setup and breakdown, chairs, tables, food, linens, cake cutting, and more really took a lot of stress off me and cut out a lot of extra vendors. Just awesome. There aren't enough words to describe how easy and wonderful everyone at Georgian Hall made our day! Lindsey, Stephanie, and Lisa were present and active throughout the whole planning process keeping us on track with everything. They are so much fun to work with and genuinely care about making your day perfect! They were there to put in my veil when we didn't know how and helped with every other detail along the way. The whole building is absolutely beautiful, and we got compliments all night on how wonderful the food, staff, and venue were! Our reception was a blast, and because of the downtown location we were able to go to the bars right after which was perfect for a wedding with younger guests. I wouldn't change a thing, they are the best!

Our wedding at the Georgian Hall was an absolute dream. Not only is the space itself historic and beautiful (and conveniently located downtown), the staff is AMAZING. From the initial tour of the space through execution of the ceremony and reception, Stephanie and Lindsay were responsive, thorough, and so pleasant to work with; they really made us feel like our wedding was their number one priority. I truly was not stressed during the planning process because Stephanie explained options to me thoroughly and completely and sent emails with dates and reminders. Most of our wedding was planned via email and it came together more perfectly than I could have possibly imagined. All of our friends and family had a wonderful time celebrating, and we are so appreciative for all of the staff that went above and beyond making our day special.

From my very first meeting with Lindsey & Stephanie, I knew we were in very good hands. Not only were these two professional, hardworking and always available for our questions or concerns but they are kind, caring and so much fun to work with. They also worked wonderfully with all of our other vendors (see the rest of my reviews if you truly want a dream team).This being the first wedding that our family has hosted, we weren't exactly sure what to expect. As parents of the bride, Lindsey, Stephanie and their entire Georgian Hall team exceeded our expectations in every possible way.

We used the Georgian Hall for our wedding reception, and it was absolutely perfect! Working with Stephanie and Lindsey leading up to the event was a seamless process, and we couldn't imagine working with anyone better. They're so responsive to email, thoroughly outline the details and everything needed, and make you feel like your event and your day is their top priority. They are the best! The venue was absolutely beautiful and our guests raved about it. We received so many compliments about the food and how delicious it was. They were able to accommodate our preferences for beers on draft and also any nuances with our food (such as cream sauce or dressing on the side, etc). There is plenty of open space for a dance floor and they worked so well with all of our vendors (DJ, photographer) to ensure that everything was exactly where it needed to be. Stephanie and Lindsey offered to cut our cake for guests after we had done the initial cake cutting, and they even sent us home with leftover cake and several large to-go boxes filled with our wedding food. It was exactly what we needed after the event! There was always someone making sure the bride and groom had exactly what they needed (food, champagne, etc.) and we just can't imagine a better place in Athens to get married. The pricing is so reasonable, the customer service is the very best, and we would strongly recommend this venue to anyone!

We couldn't have been more pleased with the service provided by the staff the evening of the event and the support from Lindsay during the planning period. The venue with the bar area, the table set-up, and the location in downtown Athens could not have been better for the Rehearsal Dinner. The appetizers and dinner courses were delicious and professionally served to our group of 50+. We received numerous compliments from our guests expressing how much they enjoyed the evening.

Many of our guests were from out of town so the location was perfect to share the charm of Athens and the Georgian is just gorgeous! We were married in late August and had our reception at the Georgian. Everything went spectacular!!! Communication throughout the entire process went very well. The hor d'oeurve hour put everyone in great spirits and wowed the guests. The club room really helped us out because the wedding was for the most part DIY and we could store decorations early in the morning. Our guests were so impressed with the food and wine. We still have people discuss the mac'n'cheese with us. The servers were on top of everything and made the bride and groom feel like a king and queen. They even sent us home with our food boxed up! At the end of the evening we didn't want to leave because everything was so magical.

I also feel like she totally understood what I was looking for, and went above and beyond to think of every detail while working with my wedding coordinator as well. To chose our menu, we were invited in for a tasting (which was wonderful) and we were even able to taste the wine choices for our bar. Many of our guests mentioned afterwards how wonderful and attentive the staff was during our reception, and we could not agree more. Plus, the restoration they have recently done to the place is amazing...those wooden doors! We would highly recommend the Georgian Hall for a classic and timeless downtown Athens wedding venue.

We could not have been happier with our wedding reception at the Georgian Hall last June. From the beginning, Lindsey was extremely helpful and willing to answer any little question I had. I also feel like she totally understood what I was looking for, and went above and beyond to think of every detail while working with my wedding coordinator as well. Absolutely perfect! We had our wedding here in June 2016 shortly after the renovation. The venue is beautiful- we had so many compliments! It's also in a prime location in fantastic downtown Athens. The food was great, and the bar was flowing! I had an extremely busy work schedule leading up to the wedding and Lindsey and team were so easy to work with and made everything come together stress free. Being out of town was so no issue either- I sent Lindsey pictures, ideas and requests and she made it happen. I walked in on my wedding night and was in complete awe. Not only is the venue completely classic, but the A+ staff that supports you makes this place stand out above the rest.

We LOVED having our reception at the Georgian Hall. Lindsey (event director) was kind and professional from day one. This venue definitely embodies southern hospitality. Lindsey wen above and beyond her job to make our day special. We've been married for 8 months now, and we still have friends and family RAVING about the food (we chose stations!)
