Our wedding at Governors Club was truly incredible! The staff took care of everything for us the day of and even helped coordinate leading up to the big day so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The club is beautiful and was the perfect backdrop for our black tie wedding! I can’t say enough about Felicia and the food - wish I could get married again just to relive that day!

I worked with Lisa Johnson for my wedding on 9/28/19 and it was the best experience I could have had. Lisa was the most helpful coordinator; she went out of her way to make our day the best it could possibly be from helping with flowers, to creating a special menu with the chef, and always being available for a question. The venue itself is stunning and the food is absolutely amazing, but being able to work with such an attentive, professional, and positive staff made our experience all the more exceptional. I recommend that everyone in the Triangle get married at Governor's Club!

I worked with Lisa Johnson for my wedding on 9/28/19 and it was the best experience I could have had. Lisa was the most helpful coordinator; she went out of her way to make our day the best it could possibly be from helping with flowers, to creating a special menu with the chef, and always being available for a question. The venue itself is stunning and the food is absolutely amazing, but being able to work with such an attentive, professional, and positive staff made our experience all the more exceptional. I recommend that everyone in the Triangle get married at Governor's Club!

We just got married on the weekend of August 31 - September 1, 2019 and we cannot express enough how incredibly happy we were with Lisa Johnson and the entire staff at the Governors Club. We had an extensive two day wedding and everyone at the Club went above and beyond to understand our vision. Their patience, care and attention to detail made our wedding nothing less than perfect! We would highly recommend the Governors Club to any couple looking to be tended to and worry free on their wedding day. Our wedding included one day which was a traditional Vietnamese wedding, and Chef completely embraced the culinary adventure that we brought him on - Kudos to Chef!!! The venue was splendid, the scenery was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and all the staff at the Governors Club were just a pleasure to work with! We are so happy that we had our wedding here - it truly was a weekend we will never forget!

We live in a different state from where we held our wedding, so we had my mom scout out venues for us based on our requirements for a non-barn-, non-plantation-style venue where we could hold our ceremony outdoors and get good outdoor pictures. She visited quite a few venues but stopped after seeing the Governors Club. She knew it would be a perfect fit for us, and she was right! The venue itself is gorgeous, with indoor and outdoor spaces that can be used as each couple sees fit and plenty of beautiful outdoor backdrops for pictures. On top of that, Lisa and her team were outstanding in helping us to coordinate our menu and decor. \"No\" was never an answer to any of our requests, from holding the ceremony on the greens outside (rather than on the patio where most couples hold their outdoor ceremonies) to creating a custom \"cake\" made out of watermelon - I sent Lisa a picture from Google, and the chef created a masterpiece that was even better than the picture (the rest of the food was fantastic, as well). They were extremely flexible in letting us come early to drop off decorations and took care of putting everything up exactly how we had envisioned, even moving some floral elements from the ceremony location to the ballroom for the reception after the ceremony. Staff members there for the wedding were extremely enthusiastic, courteous, and friendly, and they stayed after to take down all the decor and box it up for us to pick up at our convenience. Because of all the hard work they put in to preparing for and facilitating our day, were able to focus wholly on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about all the details. We are extremely grateful to Lisa and her team and would whole-heartedly recommend the venue to couples looking for a beautiful location that comes with a seamless, friendly, and customized experience.

Before meeting with Governors Club I had a dozen appointments booked, after meeting Hannah and Lisa- I cancelled all the rest. From day one all the way through the big day, these two ladies took care of everything. It wasn't a stressful process at all, it was so enjoyable! I got to have fun while Lisa and her team made every idea I have come to life. The wedding day was perfect. Everything went off without a hitch, even with last minute changes to the guest list and weather not cooperating.After searching for what seemed like forever, I'm so beyond happy that I ended up at Governors Club. Thank you a million times to everyone who helped on my special day!

Book this venue. My husband and I got married in October 2018. We looked at a handful of venues in the Chapel Hill-area but fell in love with Governors Club after our first tour. I can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. First, if you book Governors Club, you are the only wedding they schedule for your date. Which means you have the entire venue to yourself to customize your wedding however you see fit. And the venue itself is breathtakingly gorgeous. You can have your ceremony on the golf course, terrace, in the clubhouse lobby next to a grand staircase - they will do whatever you want. And the reception hall has a giant patio overlooking the golf course and lake. Honestly, it is a beautiful spot. The wedding coordinators at the Club, Hannah and Lisa, are exceptional. While I know they were also coordinating other weddings on other weekends, It always felt as though our wedding was their top priority. They were responsive, had an acute attention to detail, and treated us warmly and welcoming the entire time leading up to our wedding. They handled last minute requests beautifully and the day-of coordination was seamless. They coordinated with all of our vendors so we did not have to worry about a thing. And we had so many compliments from our guests remarking about how kind the entire staff was. The food is also phenomenal. We had a really fun menu tasting and it was hard to narrow down the choices for our menu. It was fine cuisine versus what you are typically served at a wedding; they take the food and menu very seriously. I can’t say enough great things about this venue. We had the best wedding ever and I wish I could do it all over again. Most of that is attributed to how wonderful Governors Club is. It will always hold a special place in our hearts. Please consider this venue and take a tour to see for yourself!

My daughter was married at the Governors Club last weekend and I couldn't be happier. Not only is the venue BEAUTIFUL but Lisa is amazing to work with and the staff/service is top notch! Beautiful Venue! I just got married at the Governors club last weekend and I could not have been more happy with how it turned out. Lisa was amazing throughout the entire process and made all of our requests come to life (even having our pup attend the ceremony and reception!). The entire staff was so delightful and helpful throughout the entire process I honestly do not have a single complaint. I came into the planning not really knowing my vision or what I wanted to accomplish. Lisa was able to guide me and help me come up with ideas that made our day completely amazing. I heard nothing but rave reviews from my guests about how beautiful the venue was and how delicious our food was. My husband had a special request for a Chicken Wing bar and the chef came through with an amazing spread! :) Overall, I would give it a 10/10 and wouldn't do it anywhere else if I had to do it all over again!

They were so accommodating to every idea that I had or any personal requests, I really felt like they understood my vision and helped me create the most perfect day! The venue itself is stunningly gorgeous with the views for our ceremony, the balcony for our cocktail hour, and the reception room and had plenty of room for our large wedding. AMAZING! From beginning to end, Hannah & Lisa made our planning experience so easy and enjoyable. They went above and beyond offering additional services and items for use in the club. The exclusive use of the entire club makes it ideal for all types of weather situations. We ended up doing the ceremony indoors due to rain and it didn't feel like a \"Back-up Option\" at all! The staff here really made it easy for the bride and groom and wedding party along with being just all around pleasant for all our guests. The bride and groom had a few unique requests and the staff was so excited about accommodating them. We also used two villas nearby that were ideal for wedding party and friends to be close by. I HIGHLY recommend The Governors Club for a wedding reception (and ceremony!).

AMAZING! From beginning to end, Hannah & Lisa made our planning experience so easy and enjoyable. They went above and beyond offering additional services and items for use in the club. The exclusive use of the entire club makes it ideal for all types of weather situations. We ended up doing the ceremony indoors due to rain and it didn't feel like a \"Back-up Option\" at all! The staff here really made it easy for the bride and groom and wedding party along with being just all around pleasant for all our guests. The bride and groom had a few unique requests and the staff was so excited about accommodating them. We also used two villas nearby that were ideal for wedding party and friends to be close by. I HIGHLY recommend The Governors Club for a wedding reception (and ceremony!).

There are not enough words to describe how amazing our daughter's wedding at Governors Club was. We live in Massachusetts and our daughter lives an hour and a half from Chapel Hill so we needed all the help we could get with planning the wedding. Thankfully, Lisa and Hannah made everything easy for us, from the first time we met until the sparkler exit. They always answered every request we had with a \"yes, of course\"! Their list of preferred vendors was excellent and we used many of their recommendations. The outdoor patio where the ceremony was held is breathtaking, the ballroom is beautiful and the food was delicious! The groom and several others were able to golf the day before the wedding and said the course was spectacular. On the day of the wedding we were allowed to get ready at the club which made everything much easier for the bridal party. We were given private rooms for both the women and men, each with food and drinks. Hannah was there before we got there until the end of the night and spent the entire time making sure everything was perfect for all of us. She even got us an Uber when our bus left without us at the end of the night! Everyone working at Governors Club was so friendly and polite to us and all of our guests. I would highly recommend Governors Club for a wedding, they are so professional and know exactly what they are doing every step of the way!

We used Governors Club as the venue for our wedding, and we were so happy with how everything turned out! The entire planning process was so smooth because all of the food/beverage and chairs/tables/etc. are taken care of by the venue, so there is no need to worry about finding a caterer or rentals. They are also extremely flexible and were able to accommodate any request we had, so I felt like we could really plan our wedding the way we wanted to. The location is absolutely perfect because there is a beautiful outdoor area for the ceremony and a very nice ballroom upstairs for the reception, with a side bar and outdoor area for the cocktail hour. The food was also amazing and all of our guests raved about it! We chose to go with stations around the room, which was perfect because guests could try a variety of food without there being one long buffet line. They have so many different options to choose from for the stations, and it all tasted great! Our experience was made even better because we were able to work with Hannah as our coordinator. I honestly can't say enough about how great she was throughout the entire planning process and the day of the wedding. Since we were planning the wedding from out of state, most of our communication was through email and Hannah was very responsive to all of my questions. She also made time to meet again in person two days before the wedding to go over all the last minute details, and she led our rehearsal the day before the wedding. Then the day of the wedding, Hannah and all of the staff made sure that I didn't have to worry about anything. Every detail was taken care of and it all looked even more beautiful than I had hoped.With the amazing location, food, flexibility, and staff, Governors Club really has everything you could want in a venue. I am so happy we had our wedding there and I would highly recommend it for anyone else!

The Governors Club was absolutely perfect! Lisa and Hannah are truly ROCK STARS they made the reception planning so easy and even provided amazing recommendations for the band, cake, photography and videography. It was such a stress free and enjoyable process to plan with them. All our guests raved about the food and level of service. The venue is beautiful, we did our first look on the bridge over the lake and it was such a great back drop. The seated dinner was devine, all the meals came out hot and delicous. The chef is outstanding. The timing of the evening went perfectly. Lisa and Hannah are the event coordinators and were wonderful. They moved furniture and accomodated every request along the way. On the day of the wedding both ladies were very hands on and made sure all details went off without a hitch. The club and the grounds are beautiful. We had guests and the bridal party staying at the on site cottages. The weekend could not of been more perfect.

I met with Lisa, she rescheduled our apt which was fine, I then drove 40min out to meet her for 11min. I dont think thats fair at all. I felt rushed and unwelcome and almost like a burden. Place was overbudget anyways which I later came to find out but they could have made a sale if they just gave me the time of day.

Throughout the planning of her wedding Katie was often reminded that no matter how much planning you do, there is always something that goes wrong. The Governor’s Club proved all of us wrong providing a flawless wedding filled with endless magical moments and memories. From the early initial stages of planning to the thoughtful and meticulously planned tasting menus, every detail was considered and planned for. A vendor list of some of the best vendors in the industry were provided and it was clear when that the vendors we selected were not only the best but had a well established working relationship with the Governor’s Club making for a seamless event from start to finish. The food at the Governor’s Club was perfectly designed for the bride and groom with Chef Ben taking into consideration their likes and dislikes. Each element of cocktail hour was beautifully created. The sushi bar was elegant and each sushi roll created was elegantly plated. The salads, main course options and dessert compliments to the cake were delicious and many guests commented on how delicious the food was comparing it to some of the best meals they have had rather then to other weddings they had attended. Lisa, Hannah, Chris, and Jay saw to it Katie and Grant had everything that they needed to make their day unforgettable. They were attentive, available and aimed to please. Before we chose the Governors Club, we looked at several different venue options. When we sat down with Lisa for our initial meeting at the GC, we were pleasantly surprised that there were no hidden fees and we were told from the get-go that they could make anything work to make our day perfect. We chose the GC because not only is it a beautiful venue, but Lisa and Hannah promised to make the wedding planning process as stress-free as possible. I am SO THANKFUL we chose the Governors Club. Lisa and Hannah were AMAZING and such a joy to work with. They made everything so easy. They were quick to respond to all my questions along the way, and provided helpful insight. They also worked with us to make sure the arbor my grandpa made was put in place the day of the wedding, which meant Hannah had to get the power drill out to secure it! The day of the wedding, they ran the show and everything was beyond perfect. They even handled a few unannounced guest very professionally and offered rooms for guests with infants. Our wedding was everything we ever imagined and so much more thanks to Lisa, Hannah, and the entire GC staff. They went above and beyond on everything and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. They even made sure to bring us food throughout the evening. We had over 180 guests, and everyone we have talked to has told us how classic, beautiful, and wonderfully organized our wedding was- all thanks to Lisa and Hannah. Before we chose the Governors Club, we looked at several different venue options. When we sat down with Lisa for our initial meeting at the GC, we were pleasantly surprised that there were no hidden fees and we were told from the get-go that they could make anything work to make our day perfect. We chose the GC because not only is it a beautiful venue, but Lisa and Hannah promised to make the wedding planning process as stress-free as possible. I am SO THANKFUL we chose the Governors Club. Lisa and Hannah were AMAZING and such a joy to work with. They made everything so easy. They were quick to respond to all my questions along the way, and provided helpful insight. They also worked with us to make sure the arbor my grandpa made was put in place the day of the wedding, which meant Hannah had to get the power drill out to secure it! The day of the wedding, they ran the show and everything was beyond perfect. They even handled a few unannounced guest very professionally and offered rooms for guests with infants. Our wedding was everything we ever imagined and so much more thanks to Lisa, Hannah, and the entire GC staff. They went above and beyond on everything and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us. They even made sure to bring us food throughout the evening. We had over 180 guests, and everyone we have talked to has told us how classic, beautiful, and wonderfully organized our wedding was- all thanks to Lisa and Hannah. Out of every single wedding decision we made throughout the process, we are 200% sure we made the right choice on our venue!

All we can say about the Governors Club is WOW!! From beginning to end, the service we have received from everyone associated with the Club was first class! Lisa and Hannah went above and beyond their customer service! We felt like part of the family by the time our daughters wedding day came! EVERY guest raved about the food saying it was the BEST they have ever had at a wedding. We were allowed to personalize our reception in ANY way that we envisioned and they were all so accommodating! What's exceptionally amazing, is our daughter's wedding was literally during Hurricane Matthew. Everyone kept calm and we moved the ceremony inside seamlessly, it was just beautiful! Governors Club not only provides first class service, but a friendly, warm professional atmosphere! My family can't say enough wonderful things about their beautiful venue! I'm convinced our day would not have gone so well had we been at any other venue!!

AMAZING!!!I could go on for days with the positive comments I have about Governors Club as a venue, as well as Lisa Johnson, Hannah, and the rest of the staff who made our wedding day perfect. Governors Club was only the second venue we visited when we started our wedding venue search. We knew almost immediately we wanted to use it - the setting is beautiful, the staff was helpful, and we could have our ceremony & reception there. Lisa was so helpful to us throughout the planning process. She met with us at least three separate times and went over everything for our wedding, never missing any of even the smallest details. Every request we had was met with \"YES, we can make that happen.\" Additionally, it was great to not need to rent tables/chair/napkins/tablecloths, etc. separately. Governors Club supplies all of that and it's beautiful.The day of, both Hannah and Lisa were there to help coordinate timing. They were unbelievably helpful to make sure the night ran smoothly. The staff as well was amazing - plates disappeared and drinks stayed filled seemingly on their own! Near the end of the night, I had a panicked moment when I realized the sparklers for our sparkler exit were still in my mom's car. I let Hannah know this and voila - we magically had those sparklers for our exit. Both she and Lisa handled our evening with smiles, patience and grace. It was clear to us they are seasoned professionals and we could not have been happier with our Governors Club experience. Furthermore, the food was incredible. Many, MANY guests told me it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. The atmosphere was joyful and our guests were dancing all night. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience with Governors Club. From the day we met with Lisa to the day we said \"I do,\" everything was wonderful. If you are looking at venues and trying to decide if you want to use Governors Club or not, do yourself a huge favor and book your wedding here - you will not be disappointed. Cheers!

I am so happy that I chose Governors Club as our wedding venue. We had been to 2-3 others previous to going there and things just were not clicking. We met Lisa Johnson who was so sweet from the very start. She showed us around the expansive, gorgeous venue. Before we left that day it was settled. We cancelled all our other venue appointments. From that day on I was in constant contact with Lisa about details regarding the wedding and she was so great and responsive. Any ideas that I had she was very responsive, and she also offered ideas and guidance. We had countless meetings with her and her colleagues at GC as the time of the wedding grew closer. On the big day the venue was set up exactly as I had envisioned, but looked more beautiful than I could have imagined. We had our outdoor ceremony on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the golf course and lake. The cocktail hour was indoor/outdoor. Lisa really was on top of things in terms of keeping the schedule running smoothly. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend this venue!!!

We absolutely loved having our wedding ceremony and reception at The Governors Club and would highly recommend this venue to other couples looking to have a wedding in the greater Chapel Hill area. Initially, we were very skeptical because we are not “country club” people, but the overall feel of the place, the beauty of the venue & banquet room, the high quality of the food, and the competence of the staff were all strong selling points. When visiting venues in the area, we felt a special connection with their events coordinator Lisa Johnson from the get-go.Lisa and her staff also personalized our wedding day in ways that made it feel very special and unique to us. We had specialty cocktails made by her bar staff in our names, we were given the option to use our own sparkling wine for toasts with a corkage fee (we did not opt to do this, but it was offered), and Governors was able to order a bottled beer from Michigan (home of the Groom) to serve along-side a Carolina beer throughout the evening. They also offered us the option to serve an appetizer and shooter for our guests at 10pm to keep energy levels high at our reception (it was a great idea and executed perfectly). We customized a fried green tomato appetizer and Sazerac shooter that was a huge hit at our reception. Oh yeah, we also had a piñata for the kids… The Governors club was also very accommodating to our food/dietary restrictions and needs. We cannot say enough about Executive Chef Benjamin Guaman, who customized and tailored our menu down to the cucumber. We as a couple were pescetarians, while some of our guests were vegans, and the rest were primarily Jewish or Muslim, so there was absolutely no pork at our wedding - and this was not an issue to Benjamin – he welcomed the challenge. Like the rest of the staff at Governors, he is personable and easy to work with, and his sushi is top-notch. The tasting conducted a few months prior to the wedding went very well, and we were able to personalize the menu by asking Chef for dishes to be spicier, or to add/subtract items from certain dishes based on our desires. Unlike a lot of venue tastings prior to weddings, Chef had direct communication with us and confidently expressed to us that he would be overseeing the entire operation for our 150 guests from start to finish. As “foodies” we had high expectations, and the most important aspect of the reception was great food; and the Governors Club delivered!Overall, I’d emphasize that Lisa Johnson is amazing, and her staff lead by Jay, Kristy and Chris are very competent and enthusiastic. They were very responsive to our emails throughout the process, and every single detail was addressed on the day of the event just as we wanted it. Having an open line of communication with the Chef is also a plus. They have a way of easing any day-off-wedding panic/stress you have about your event with their attention to detail and control of all situations. They also coordinated very well with our vendors, of which our DJ, photographer, our shuttle buses, and photo booth operator had never been to the venue. The overall biggest asset is that you get a team of pseudo-coordinators to help and assist you with recommendations, guidance and advice throughout the process. Again, we were very happy about the organization of the venue, and our guests raved about the quality of the appetizers, salads, food and especially the drinks/cocktails. Rave reviews!

Lisa and Hannah went above and beyond - like driving around to find a special German beer that meant something to my family for cocktail hour. A+\r\rPlanning a wedding is a tricky thing. I looked at several venues. Together, were planning on inviting around 180 people. I wanted a place where the ceremony could be held outside, and be moved inside in case of inclement weather. Also there needed to be plenty of space to dance! The other venues were all lacking in one way or another (lacking space, didn't look nice, no on site caterer and/or bar, parking problems, disinterested staff, etc) -- until we found the Governors Club. The clubhouse is nestled in among beautiful homes and the green expanse of the golf course. The inside is beautiful, and had been recently redone with new carpeting and other touches. Lisa Johnson showed us around and was knowledgable and helpful from the start. Once we decided to go with GC, Ms. Johnson stayed in contact with me throughout the whole planning process and answered any questions that arose. The GC staff is so FLEXIBLE. What we wanted, they made happen! They even let us set up tee times for people who wanted to play before the rehearsal. \r\rTheir cooks are incredible and are willing to personalize any recipe to suit your needs. I was bummed that as the Bride, I didn't get to enjoy cocktail hour with all the fantastic appetizers (we were having photos done at that time) but all the guests raved about the food. \r\rI can't applaud the Governors Club enough! Beautiful grounds, incredibly helpful and friendly staff, wonderful food, alcohol on site, and plenty of space (we ended up having about 130 people). Also, it didn't feel like I was getting married on a golf course. Thank you Lisa and Staff for exceeding all expectations and making my wedding better than I ever could have imagined!

We had our daughter's wedding at the Governor's Club in October. We were thrilled with the entire process, from the beginning of planning to the night of the reception. Lisa Johnson in particular, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful to us to plan everything that we wanted. Chef Ben's food was phenomenal! We live 600 miles from the venue and thought this might be an obstacle in planning. However, because of the professionalism of Lisa and her staff, this was not an issue. We couldn't have been more pleased with how helpful and accommodating the club staff was! We had several guests tell us that it was the most elegant event that they have attended in years! It is a beautiful venue. Several of the guests took advantage of playing golf at the club before the wedding. This is a nice amenity for people coming in from out of town. We stayed at one of the cottages onsite that is available for rent. It could not have worked out any better for our family. We would whole heartedly recommend the Governor's Club for anyone looking to have a lifetime of terrific memories.

We had the wedding of our dreams at the Governors Club this past June. Both are ceremony and reception were held here. We are from Los Angeles and had our wedding in Chapel Hill. The moment we visited this beautiful property, we fell in love and knew we had to have it here. Lisa and her team did an amazing job helping us coordinate everything and it all exceeded our expectations. We had the wedding of our dreams at the Governors Club this past June. Both are ceremony and reception were held here. We are from Los Angeles and had our wedding in Chapel Hill. The moment we visited this beautiful property, we fell in love and knew we had to have it here. Lisa and her team did an amazing job helping us coordinate everything and it all exceeded our expectations. Our guests, who were mostly all from California, are still talking about how beautiful the wedding and venue was. It was the perfect choice for our wedding and we couldn't be happier!

All I can say is Governors Club out-did themselves with my wedding ceremony and reception. Lisa and Hannah are wonderful people to work with along the planning of the big day. They were both very helpful with suggestions and ideas, and when it came to the day, they made sure everything ran smoothly. After securing our date, we had a tasting for the meal the day of, as we decided on having a served meal. The chef could not have provided us with more choices of hors d'oeuvres, salads and meal selections. Everything was delicious and very beautifully plated that we had a difficult time choosing how to narrow it down (a good problem to have!). When it came to the day of the wedding, everything tasted just as good as it did during the tasting. The guests could not stop complimenting their meal. \r\rWe had both the ceremony and reception at Governors Club, where our ceremony was outdoor on the patio overlooking the golf course. I could not have had a more beautiful venue for my wedding. The guests did not stop talking about how beautiful the ceremony and venue were. This venue also makes for lovely backgrounds for portraits and bridal party photos. The cocktail hour and reception took place in the upstairs ballroom of the clubhouse. The staff were very professional in serving food and drinks to the guests. At the end of the night, they accommodated us for having a sparkler exit. Hannah remained on site throughout the entire evening to ensure everything continued to go smoothly. I would recommend Governors Club to anyone for their wedding venue. Lisa and Hannah went above and beyond to make sure my day was perfect. They were very quick to respond to email, and I met with them in person several times to go over any details with them as well.

Our son was married at Governors Club at the end of August. The day was perfect from start to finish. Our daughter was married at the Governors Club May 2015. We had a choice of several venues but from the first day we visited the Club it was nothing but a positive experience. Lisa and her staff were outstanding during the entire process. The food was fantastic and the Chef went out of his way to make sure we got what we wanted, even making a dish that was not on the menu. As the guy paying the bill I was so pleased that I was not \"nickeled and dimed\" at every turn or request. The pricing was fair and an excellent value for the end result. Seven months later we are still getting calls about the how wonderful the wedding turned out. The Club and the members accommodated us by allowing a mini golf tournment the day before the big event. Brian and I got married at Governors Club on 13 Sep 2014 with the help of Lisa and her staff. While she always seemed busy with work, she always made time for us during the planning process. Her staff worked hard to accommodate our personal requests and we could not have been happier with the outcome. The food was excellent, much better than any wedding or upscale restaurant I have ever attended. Everything went according to plan, with no issues on the wedding day. It was a great experience and would definitely recommend them to my friends and family. My only regret? Not thanking Lisa and her team enough for their excellent work.

One doesn't need another wedding planner. She knows her stuff! Ben is a skilled chef with a repertoire of menus, and like Lisa,the event planner, is flexible and helpful. Ours was a large group-161 guests. It was a diverse group as my daughter married a fellow from overseas. All felt welcome. I've been to many weddings over the years and I am thrilled to say that I think the setting of GC, the organization of the day, and the welcoming atmosphere cannot be surpassed by any hotel, club, or exotic destination. If you are lucky enough to live in this area, you will not go wrong if you plan your nuptials and your reception at Governors Club!

I used the governor club for my wedding which was held on August 31st 2014. I did not check the reviews before meeting with Lisa, the venue director. I was very pleased about how welcoming she was. Lisa worked with me closely to ensure that things were exactly how I wanted them to be. Additionally, I was much more pleased when she asked me what type of Africa food I would like. The governors club staff was willing to go the extra mile to ensure that my day was special and stress free. I will definitely recommend the governors club to anyone that would Like to have a beautiful wedding without the stress. October 26 2013 wedding at the Governor's Club. Lisa Johnson Director of Sales and Catering at the Governors Club and her staff are top notch. The venue is beautiful. The grounds are magnificent and the terraces and areas used during the reception are breathtaking. She assisted in many ways while the girls were getting ready. One bridesmaid's dress had a zipper malfunction and she went above & beyond leaving to go find needle & thread. Despite several last minute cancellations the reception exceeded our expectations. The cocktail party was raved about by family & friends. Drinks were strong. The hors d'oeuvres were grilled chicken wrapped in bacon(chicken was a large piece wrapped in one piece of bacon), Brie with raspberry on pastry shell, BLT on toasted rounds and potato asiago rounds (which were to die for) The photobooth was a good addition and kept it flowing. Lisa worked well with Steve Stowe our DJ (from Joe Bunn) who also works at Classic rentals both were extremely helpful with the rentals of the black chiavari chairs, linens and black & white dance floor. Food presentation at each station was very elegant. Chef's at each station were knowledgeable and personable. We did an asian station complete with stirfry and everything imaginable beef chicken & shrimp, which was made to order for each guests, mexican station with chicken & beef as well as an array of cheeses and toppings, shells and tortillas, italian pasta station with 3-4 kinds of pastas (the cheese tortillini was excellent) He would stirfry a pasta dish customized for each guest adding chicken or italian sausage fresh spinach, artichoke and many other veggies as well as cheeses and sides , beef tenderloin carving station A+ as beef was like butter with a fresh caesar salad , breads. Guests commented that the taste and tenderness of the beef tenderloin was superb. Of course my favorite was the shrimp & grits. The shrimp was prepared fresh and grilled on the spot and added to cheese grits with many toppings. Everything was just so fresh and custom and the lines moved. People returned for more and they never ran out of anything. I know there is a negative review on the internet but that is before Lisa Johnson joined the staff. Just want to clarify because had I let that one review sway me it would have been an epic mistake! Since she has been there, everything is perfect start to finish. Our daughter got married on Saturday, January 19, 2013 and we held the reception at the Governors Club. First of all, the venue is located in a stunning setting in an upscale golf course community. All through the planning process, our main contact, Lisa Johnson, Director of Sales and Catering at the Governors Club, was a pleasure to deal with. After we agreed on the format and signed a contract, Lisa and the chef went out of their way to make changes to accommodate our needs.\r\rIn the final week before the wedding (in spite of Lisa coming down with the flu), significant changes were made to accommodate the size of our reception due to a higher than expected invitation acceptance rate. When the big night arrived, the presentation, food and service were wonderful. All of our guests went out of their way to say what a nice reception it was and how good the food was.\rIn summary, the actual reception exceeded our expectations, which were already very high.

I was married just three days ago (10/20/12) at Governors Club (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception) and couldn't wait to get on here to write a review. I'm bursting with positive things to say about not only the day of my wedding but the past 365 days leading up and how amazing Lisa Johnson and the entire GC staff has been!!!\r\rFirst off, the venue is absolutely stunning. Set in the rolling hills of NC, the golf course and grounds are superbly maintained. The Clubhouse is immaculate and they are eager and willing to cater to your every need.\r\rSecondly, their willingness to bend over backwards is unparalleled! Never once throughout the planning process did Lisa appear uninterested in my big day. You would have thought it was her own daughter getting married. She (and everyone else) is so personable and they go out of their way to make you feel so special.\r\rI cannot tell you how many compliments have been pouring in from guests who were in attendance. No detail was missed and I was completely stress free (no joke!) the entire week and weekend leading up - all because of the professionalism and \"110 percent\" attitude that is ingrained in the GC staff.\r\rNeedless to say, it was the best weekend of my life and I am one happy bride. I would recommend this venue a thousand times over.\r

Lisa Johnson, Chef Ben, and the rest of the staff of Governors Club went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding was everything that we wanted! The place was absolutely gorgeous, and Lisa went completely above and beyond to make every detail come together perfectly! I am so lucky to have found such an amazing venue, where they have so much pride in their work and went above and beyond in every aspect- from catering to my gluten allergy (the chef even learned my recipe and made gluten free dinner rolls!), to giving the bridal party 8 golf carts to ride around for photos, to the made-to-order guacamole bar we thought up, Governors Club made sure to make our wedding day perfect!

The perfect venue. I couldn't have asked for anything more. From the first visit to see the club until the moment we were stepping into our getaway car, working with the Governors Club was a dream. Lisa Johnson, the event coordinator, was absolutely fantastic. She was very responsive and did a great job tackling our requests and handling all the vendors. If you enjoy wedding planning (i.e. selecting vendors) but don't want to worry on the day of the wedding, this is great! A true package deal and then the club makes sure everything runs smoothly on the day of, without having to spend the extra money for a wedding planner. Planning was really fun with a tasting with the chef and a walk through the club. We really wanted an ice cream wedding cake which the club handled with no problem (they had a giant freezer, we got the cake from Ben and Jerry's). We had stations for dinner which were delicious and there were plenty of people on hand the night of the reception to make sure everything was perfect. My groom and I even had our own personal attendant to make sure we were eating and drinking- she brought us plates of food and drinks all night long! Combine this with the breathtaking beauty of the grounds and it made for a perfect day. For a gorgeous day with no hassle, please take my recommendation and have your wedding here.

My wedding at Governors Club could not have been more perfect. Lisa Johnson and her staff were amazing. I continue to hear how much our guests of close to 300 enjoyed the food. Saying it was \"some of the best they've ever had\" at a wedding. The ballroom was perfectly transformed from the ceremony to reception in an hour & guests enjoyed a nice cocktail hour while waiting. Could not have turned out better. HIGHLY recommend Governors Club to any bride & groom-to-be!!!

My wedding at Governors Club could not have been more perfect. Lisa Johnson and her staff were amazing. I continue to hear how much our guests of close to 300 enjoyed the food. Saying it was \"some of the best they've ever had\" at a wedding. The ballroom was perfectly transformed from the ceremony to reception in an hour & guests enjoyed a nice cocktail hour while waiting. Could not have turned out better. HIGHLY recommend Governors Club to any bride & groom-to-be!!!

The food was amazing. Every member of the staff made the planning process easy and enjoyable. The day of the wedding everything looked perfect was perfect and we did not have to worry about a thing. Gorgeous outdoor patio.

Loved the window overlooking the golf course also the bridge over the water where you could take pictures the space available when the ballroom was totally open was very nice. We also liked how tables were available outside for our guests to sit at also.;Be warned of the Event Staff! They say they coordinate weddings but from our experience all they want to do is take care of their home owners and golfers. Every time I would call and speak to the young lady there she was flaky and almost seemed like she didnt know who I was after being in contact with her for 6 months and meeting with her atleast 3 times. They didn't follow through with specific details I had for the ceremony and reception. I was running around the morning of my wedding trying to get things right b/c they almost seemed like they didnt care that there was going to be a wedding there that day. Not to mention they were renovating the kitchen during my wedding so my bouquet was misplaced in the freezer until 10 minutes before I walked out to get married. They need to hire a wedding coordinator to make things run more smoothly and so they dont keep getting these type of complaints!

The people were friendly and helpful, the view was gorgeous, and the price was relatively reasonable.;There seemed to be a lot of turnover, so we began working with one coordinator and then had to explain everything to the next when she left. Also, they didn't allow me to taste the food until AFTER I had sent out my invitations for our plated dinner.
