I cannot say enough good things about our experience getting married at the Hampshire House. We were lucky they were the first venue we looked at in person- we knew we didn’t need to look any farther to find the perfect place to host our wedding. We were looking for a place that felt intimate, warm, romantic, and elegant. We hosted a wedding for 73 people, and it was absolutely perfect. We have had nothing but positive experiences with the Hampshire House since with first met our coordinator, Lindsay Beshero just over a year before our wedding. They provided flexibility in planning while also taking care of all the catering and rentals. We loved our tasting, where Lindsay helped us iron out even the smallest details well in advance of our ceremony and reception. While they were professional and responsive throughout the planning process, the real joy in working with them was on the day of our wedding. The ceremony and reception spaces are absolutely stunning and are in the perfect location in downtown Boston, right off the Boston Garden and in the vicinity of plenty of hotel and transportation options. Because of the nature of the venue, you get to enjoy both the grand second floor library and the beautiful third floor reception space and bar. Transitioning back and forth throughout the evening was seamless, and allowed our guests to mingle and truly enjoy spending time together. The staff was warm and extremely responsive to our needs. Any request we had was met in moments. Another reviewer commented that they felt like they got to enjoy being a guest at their own wedding, and I couldn’t agree more. Our guests raved about the food and service, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We would choose the Hampshire House again in a heartbeat. Reviewed on 03-10-2023

My partner and I had our wedding reception at the Hampshire house and I cannot imagine a better experience. From the very first email and call with Michele to the day of, they were caring, attentive, warm and personalized. The venue is beautiful, you barely need decorations since the place itself feels magical. Our guests told me that it was one of the most beautiful venues they had attended. The food is incredible also. And it was so nice to have food, linens, tables, etc completely taken care of for us. The day of was a complete dream and Michele helped us with so many last minute changes and personally helped with laying our cards. One example of absolutely incredible and above and beyond service - during the reception I was making my rounds to different tables and brought my food with me. Within 10 seconds Karim had brought me a chair to sit and fresh napkin and water. The guests themselves were blown away with the level of service. We had some non traditional elements at our reception and Michele not only allowed but was enthusiastic about them. I wish that every person could have the experience we did. Please book them for any part of your wedding, it is guaranteed to be magical! Reviewed on 05-11-2023

The encyclopedia entry under “Professional” should simply be a description of Sydney Turnbull, who from beginning to end was invaluable in helping us plan our wedding reception at Hampshire House. A beautiful venue, a perfect night, delicious and well-presented food and drinks, but more than all this: the team of Hampshire House staff members ensured that our guests were comfortable, that we had time to ourselves on our special day, and that everything transitioned seamlessly throughout the night. There were times when it seemed as if Sydney had some magical power, anticipating our every need before we even knew we needed something! Her communication from the getgo was fast and efficient and her years of experience in the wedding/event industry shone through in everything she did. If you are looking for an intimate, classic Boston wedding, Hampshire House needs to be on your short-list. After all, it’s one of the only places in the city which was intentionally built and designed for hosting weddings. The food here is delicious, the menu options are various, and the bar/liquor options leave nothing to be desired. The option to use both the second and third floors broke the evening up in really nice ways, and allowed our guests to “explore” more of the venue space and see the sunset over the Public Garden from one of the best positions in the city. If you are looking for a classic historic mansion in Boston to host a wedding this is the place. We had our wedding reception here and everything was perfect, from the food to the decor. We worked with Sydney and she was the best in responding to all of my questions. She was very polite and made sure the day ran smoothly. Our wedding was beautiful, more than 75% of our guest were visiting from out of town and really enjoyed Hampshire House. We keep hearing from our friends and family how delicious the food was and they were so full at the end of the night they barely had room for wedding cake. Sydney and her staff are very professional and made sure everyones allergies were addressed, everyone was very pleased with the service. There are not enough positive and wonderful things that I could say about working with The Hampshire House. My fiance and I planned our wedding without seeing the venue in person and living out of state. Sydney, our coordinator, was incredible. She made the process so easy and was always there to answer any questions we had. We chose to get married in the Library and it is such a beautiful and romantic space. I researched 10 venues based on The Knot recommendations for rehearsal dinner locations in Boston. Sydney, my event coordinator, worked with me all year on menus, drink choices, table arrangements and pulling together my vision of the perfect welcome reception night. We had 100 people so we rented the 3rd floor for drinks and appetizers, then called out guests down to the library room for an elegant dinner. Joseph Goodliffe(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2022 If it were possible to give Hampshire House more stars, we would. After spending weeks researching distilleries, breweries, and restaurants around Boston, my husband and I finally decided to take a look at more “traditional” wedding venues around the city and what we found with the Hampshire House was anything but ordinary. From our first meeting to the last dance at our wedding, the staff at the Hampshire House went out of their way to make us feel like we were the only couple they were working with. How anyone plans a wedding without Michelle is a mystery. Her and Karim’s attention to detail is unbelievable - absolute masters of their craft. Whether we were planning the menu or trying to figure out how to get a processional full of kids down the aisle, they were by our side bringing our wedding vision to life. When life threw us a curveball and forced us to postpone our big day, the compassion and empathy the folx at the Hampshire House showed absolutely blew us away and it was like no time had passed when we were ready start planning again a few months later. While the professionalism and service are reason enough to plan your wedding here, you can’t talk about this place without raving about the venue itself. Perfectly situated across from the Public Garden and nestled in Beacon Hill, you couldn’t ask for a more picturesque place to get married. The library is a stunning setting to say I do, and the whole house evokes a kind of historical warmth and charm you can’t find at any other venue in Boston. We also have to take a minute to mention how phenomenal the food was too. Every hors d’oeuvre and dish was perfectly made, and the staff even went out of their way to label everything for our guests with allergies. We feel so lucky to have been able to get married at here, work with the incredible staff, and share such a cool, historic venue with our guests. If you want a worry free wedding at a gorgeous venue with the best service you could ever ask for, do yourself (and your guests) a favor and say “I Do” at Hampshire House, you won’t be disappointed. Overlooking Boston Common and right in the middle of the city it was both easy for our guests to get to and quintessentially Boston. A perfect location for doing a photo shoot in some of the city’s most iconic places and a gorgeous setting in and of itself (our photos turned out amazing!). Choosing the Hampshire House made the rest of the wedding planning easy and fun - Michele who was our coordinator took so much stress out of the preparations, patiently responding to my many questions, helping us make decisions, and last minute guest changes. She was also a great presence the day of, allowing us to focus on enjoying the day. The food was beyond delicious, which was really important to us, incorporating some Boston classics such as perfect little lobster rolls and clam chowder cups, and with many options for guests with dietary restrictions. Angelique Markowski(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-11-2022 We selected the Hampshire House for our wedding, because we loved the feeling of celebrating in an old-style mansion. The ceremony, dinner, and dancing were all held in the massive library, and it was gorgeous. They had fully working fireplaces for our cold November wedding, which really set the mood. Probably more importantly, the food was outstanding. Our family and friends are all foodies, and if the food was bad, we would have heard about it until the end of time. Instead, people could not get over how amazing both the cocktail hour food was, but also the dinner hour. While the space was stunning to begin with, one of the main considerations in picking this venue was the staff. Everyone was so helpful and attentive to our needs right from the start. They made the whole experience as stress free as possible. The Director/Coordinator, Michele Giacomozzi was amazing. She was always there to answer any questions we had or offer any help she could. Sean Biggins(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2019 Hampshire House was the most amazing venue we could have asked for. We currently live on the West Coast, so we had to plan everything from afar. When we first started planning, we were leaning towards having a barn wedding, but wanted to keep our options open. We came home to Mass. in August of 2018 and visited 11 venues in one week. Hampshire House was the second to last venue we visited and the only one we visited that was in the city of Boston. The beauty of the venue combined with the beauty of the Public Gardens right across the street got us excited. We also realized that being in the city, there we be so many fun things for guests to do before and after the wedding as well. Hampshire House's amazing catering manager, Michele Giacomozzi, as well as knowing how great the food itself would be, sealed the deal for us. We went from thinking we wanted a barn wedding to wanting a city wedding in October. We were so happy with this decision. We were lucky that the weather cooperated with us, as we had an absolutely perfect fall day for photos in Public Gardens and amongst the brownstones of Beacon Hill. Hampshire House ended up not just meeting our expectations, but exceeding them. Michele G. was so nice and so accommodating in helping us with everything we needed. On top of that, the staff at the Hampshire House provided exceptional service from beginning to end, including little touches throughout that made my husband and me feel like VIPs -- a true luxury experience. (Not to spoil any big surprises so just one example: when we first visited the HH, we were greeted with a gift bag that included a HH mug, chocolates, and a copy of the Knot's seasonal magazine. We still use the mug every week and think about our amazing experience at the HH!).Almost a month later and we are still getting comments from our guests about how beautiful the space was and how delicious the food was! We also loved how seamlessly the HH worked with our other vendors (mostly drawn from their recommended list -- all pros), making the whole experience easy. As a friend put it to me, how wonderful that my husband and I got to be guests at our own wedding. Finally, a big shout out to Amanda Henderson, our coordinator:Amanda was the BEST!!! She won us over with her quick email response time during the early inquiry process and was a joy to work with throughout the whole planning process. She had an answer for everything and truly embodied the spirit of hospitality. Reviewed on 07-10-2018

Everything about the Hampshire House is elegant and old Boston. The rooms are beautiful and look out to the Boston Public Gardens. Rebeca H(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-09-2018 We could not have been happier with our wedding reception at the Hampshire House. The venue itself is gorgeous, with an impressive entry stairway (great for photos!), plenty of space to gather by the bar, sumptuous wood paneling in the “library” area (with windows overlooking the Public Garden) and beautiful details that suggest the lost elegance of a time gone by. As you ascend the stairs, you almost feel as if you are transported back in time, attending a 19th century soiree in a Back Bay/Beacon Hill salon. The location definitely helps this vibe – the Hampshire House, right above the landmark “Cheers” bar on Beacon Hill, is located in the heart of Boston and is everything you’d expect. Perhaps more impressive than the location or the atmosphere, and in my mind even more important, was the top notch staff. Amanda and her team are second to none. The teams’ responsiveness & professionalism during the planning stage, their ability to execute timing of all portions of the reception (while maintaining the flexibility necessary to accommodate last-minute wedding day issues that ALWAYS arise) was spot-on, and competence of the wait-staff greatly impressed us. Last but not lease – THE FOOD. Since our wedding, the guests have been raving about the venue in general but specifically the menu, which was, some of the best food we have ever had. It seemed like specifically the steak and other beef-based dishes received rave reviews, as well as sea-food oriented options (one appetizer included a lobster roll - perfect for Boston in the summertime!). All up, we could not have asked for a better venue and would wholeheartedly recommend the Hampshire House to anyone. Reviewed on 19-07-2017
Julia Redgate(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-06-2017 The Hampshire House is the perfect location for a romantic, beautiful and unique wedding. My husband was originally from England, and we first had a small civil ceremony with 15 people and a dinner to follow on the 3rd floor of the Hampshire House. We loved it so much that we cut down our quest list in order to have a bigger celebration one year later, this past June. We had 85 quests at our bigger celebration and utilized both the 2nd and 3rd floor spaces, and it was the perfect size if you want a warm, and intimate setting. The staff there are impeccable, they are kind, observant, and helpful. We personally worked with Amanda Henderson both times, and we couldn't have asked for someone better to help with everything, she helped making the stressful wedding planning seem easy and calm. She replied back to e-mails immediately and her attention to detail was extremely helpful. The quality and presentation of the food is amazing, definitely the best food I have ever had, and our quests were raving about their dinner all night long. The Hampshire House is in the most perfect location in Boston, being right across from the beautiful Public Gardens, and being right above the iconic Cheers Bar adds a fun and unique twist. We had quests traveling from all over the world and they all stated how amazing the setting was. The library room, where we had our ceremony and reception is truly stunning and is perfect if you are trying to stay away from the typical hotel ballroom wedding. It felt as if we were brought back in time with the ornate woodwork and decoration, that we didn't need to spend more money on decorating the room since it itself was so beautiful. If you want an intimate wedding with great food, great service, and a great location look no further. Everything was professionally done and taken care of. The day of the wedding ran so smoothly, we are still receiving compliments from guests. Our main contact there, Michele, was patient, helpful, and always upbeat. We met several times (and emailed much more), and designed a great menu (heavily vegetarian, no beef, pork, or shellfish. Many people told us how beautiful it was to be in the Library & they raved about the food. We were relaxed throughout because we knew we didn't have to worry about anything. Jo Hart(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-07-2011 We held a rehearsal dinner at the Hampshire House. Several of our guests had special needs. In spite of the home being a historic landmark on Beacon Hill, Michele G was able to accommodate us quite effectively without drawing attention to their needs. If the HH did nothing else that evening, it would have been a wonderful evening because of this assistance!! \r\rThe receptionist at the front entry was welcoming. We were impressed that the dinner crowd at Cheers did not conflict with our party. We didn't even know they were there!! \r\rMichele G was very attentive and responsive throughout the year as we planned our party. I loved the way that she coordinated with the chef as the 3 of us worked out a lovely menu for our dinner. Neither she nor the chef was bashful to recommend an alternative, or to suggest something more popular than my original menu. If I would make one suggestion, it would be to not go in with a set concept; but, to listen to her and the chef and work with them to design a menu. The chef suggested a home made biscuit strawberry shortcake dessert which was over the top!! It wasn't even one of the dessert choices being offered, but it was something he thought would go well with our dinner and 4th of July!! I'm so glad I listened to them!! Michele G and the chef were able to work within our budget and offer us an excellent cocktail hour and dinner menu. Our guests later commented that they had never tasted anything like the corn tartlet or the fingerling stuffed potato! Yummy doesn’t describe them well enough!! The baby lamb chops were divine. They were nicely prepared, not greasy, or gamey! They were succulent and tender!! An excellent choice for carnivores. I was worried that some of our guests may not get enough of the lamb [or that some guests would take too many] as guests often stock pile those on their plates or follow the server around the room offering the lamb chops; but Michele said not to worry that the chef would keep them coming and I didn't need to worry about getting them in multiples of 50! It was so nice not to have to worry about having enough lamb chops!! WHEW!\r\rThe chandelier in the lobby where we entered was cleaned and shined. If the crystal is clean, and the silver well polished, then I sense that a venue pays fine attention to detail. HH didn't disappoint me! One of my guests noted that the flowers on the table were 'firsts.' I couldn't imagine that people would even check out the quality of flowers on the table!! But, the HH did arrange for first quality flowers. Sometimes roses have the outer petals removed so that they won't droop or if they are older 'funeral flowers.' The HH's flowers were lovely and fresh!\r\rThe Baker Bar was nicely polished and the windows overlooking the Boston Common were gleaming. The cocktails were generous and well prepared. The cocktail hour was fantastic! The bartenders were able to serve all our guests efficiently. At our request, the wait staff worked the room during the cocktail hour so our guests didn’t have to stand or wait at the bar; and they took drink orders at the tables after our guests sat down to dinner. It was important to us that our guests felt pampered and taken care of. Two of our guest came an hour early, but they were greeted and made to feel welcome. The bar opened for them so they didn't stand around feeling awkward. I am grateful for that! This is where HH is different from other places I have been. Reviewed on 15-08-2011
