Harborside East is a beautiful, but affordable venue. There are ample indoor and outdoor spaces that give a lot of options for ceremony and reception variety. The bridge and waterfront views make for the best photos, but, there are a lot of bugs down by the water, so be prepared for this. The venue comes with the perfect mix of included items to save on rentals (built in bar inside, indoor and outdoor furniture, full kitchen, ample restrooms so no trailer rental needed, a covered patio with fans so no tent rental required), but customizable features to still make it your own style! The venue staff is helpful, responsive, and friendly. Reviewed on 08-10-2023

THIS VENUE WOW. Words cannot describe how beautiful my pictures have turned out. This venue was perfect, and everyone loved it! We had our first dance on the patio with the sunset and it was incredible. If you want a wedding in Charleston, this is the place to book!!! Reviewed on 08-09-2023

Ashlan Fabiano(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-11-2021 When we started visiting venues, Harborside was the second place we saw. Both my now husband and I were in love with it. We crunched our numbers and Harborside definitely came out in top with what we wanted to spend on a venue. We got married there as well and I love that you can choose three different spots on the property to get married. We ended up doing the ceremony on the patio because the view of the bridge is too gorgeous to pass up. You will get the most beautiful sunset pictures by the water, the bridge, and the gardens around it. The reception hall is unbeatable if you’re going for a vintage/prohibition feel. We didn’t have to decorate all that much because the space is perfect as is. Chelsea was also so helpful and responsive with all of our questions. When we wanted to hold our date with her, our original date was already on hold. But she gave us two hold contracts for the date we wanted and our second date choice, I’m so grateful, because the couple that had the date we wanted decided not to book, and we were able to jump on the date we wanted immediately!! April Stockwell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-11-2021 I specifically picked this venue for the covered patio in case of rain. It definitely came in handy because it did rain on our day but that did not ruin a single thing. The location was perfect and the venue is absolutely gorgeous. We didn't even have to decorate. Chelsea helped us along the way and answered many questions. Reviewed on 10-11-2021
Renee Kimbrell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-07-2021 What a gorgeous venue! This is such a beautiful that you don't need many decorations (I mainly only had centerpieces and table decor). Chelsea was a gem to work with the entire process! I would suggest having a backup photo plan if it rains, we moved inside and it looked nice in photos but had to keep people out of the back. The patio is big enough for us to have 125 chairs for the ceremony and 2 sets of cornhole boards. Reviewed on 27-08-2021
Caitlin McCarthy(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-06-2021 I loved this venue! You can't find better views in Charleston. Meghan Snouffer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-06-2019 This venue was absolutely perfect! The inside is so lovely that it took very little decorating to make it look magical. However, the most incredible part of this venue is that it you get BOTH the elegant & classy inside space while also getting a scenic & breathtaking outdoor space. It is the perfect inside/outside venue. The temperature for our June wedding was in the 90's, but the breeze off of the bay helped our guests feel cool. Even though we always had the option of going inside to take refuge from the heat, the majority of the night was spend enjoying the beautiful view & the amazing patio. Highly recommend this venue! Sarah Eddleman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-11-2019 One of the best venues in Charleston. Beautiful water views with both inside and outside space. Kristine Lagree(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-04-2019 Location was phenomenal and we have great pictures with the palm trees and the sunset over downtown Charleston and the Ravenel bridge. However, Harborside East has some very particular and strange rules, that we did not see in other venues. Make sure you look through the contract thoroughly prior to putting a deposit down. Chelsea, the director of HE, is very responsive to answer questions you have throughout your planning process. Nonetheless, there is no budging room on these rules. Some are fine, just annoying, so you really have to be meticulous on your planning. They require you to have a day of coordinator, but that is a must in my opinion! Know that if you are planning to have your reception inside, your wedding guests will end up being divided because people will want to be outside. We did our ceremony on the lawn, cocktail hour and dinner on the patio and then dancing inside (because outside music must be off by 9pm, otherwise, we would have kept everything outside). You must use Creek Club at I'on for the bar; you have no other option. We were a little frustrated with that due to the beverage options. We had unlimited tier 1 (cheapest option) beer and wine. We chose this option because their tier 3 beers were not much better so we brought our own kegs in addition to their beer. Creek Club at I'on enforces you have a bartender per 50 people, which is appropriate in my opinion. However, we were planning to have 160, including 10 children (150 adults) and they were still requiring me to pay for an additional bartender (4 total). So essentially they charged me an extra bartender (+taxes, fees, gratuity) for 10 children!! The Catering Director attempted to get this fee dropped but she told me her manager would not allow it. I was frustrated with their unwillingness to satisfy their customers (They don't care because you have no other option). On top of those things that I was frustrated with, the bar ran out of white wine on our wedding day.If I were to plan our wedding again, I would probably still choose Harborside East with the size of our wedding guests and I do love the photos we got and the ambiance of the entire day was perfect. Just know what you're getting into with all their requirements. Reviewed on 09-05-2019

We received so many compliments on how beautiful everything was and how we picked a great venue. Harborside East was the frame for my Vow Renewal, and all the family and friends inside made the picture. It was truly an elegant night, themed Great Gatsby-esque and the venue was the focal point. Beautiful interior, large windows, dark hard wood, marble floors, spacious covered patio, large uncovered outdoor space, and beautiful landscaping and outdoor spots for breathtaking photos with the Ravenal Bridge in the backdrop. Harborside East is right on the water, minutes from downtown and a perfect space for any event. My husband and I fell in love with it online before even seeing it. After 1 trip prior to the renewal, we knew Chelsea and Harborside East were the venue for us. Thanks so much Chelsea for all of your assistance...and even letting us in the day prior to rehearse our first dance ;) Reviewed on 09-07-2015

The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. The cost is a little high, but you are able to choose all of your own vendors to bring in for catering, etc. I highly recommend this vendor!
