Historic Shady Lane is a wedding venue located in Manchester, PA, that creates memorable moments for couples in a beautiful rustic setting. With over 34 acres of lush grounds and forest scenery, Historic Shady Lane offers couples a naturally elegant and timeless atmosphere for their special day. The venue at Historic Shady Lane is full of stories as it was once a family distillery above a spring-fed stream, over 220 years ago. The estate has been preserved through The Farm and Natural Land Trust and its new owners, the Kohr's, have been restoring the buildings and grounds. Every year, the venue opens its gates to 70 couples to make their dream weddings come true. With buildings from three different centuries on the estate, each having its own story, this is the perfect place to tell yours. Historic Shady Lane accommodates events such as wedding showers, engagement parties, rehearsals, and elopements, in addition to pre-ceremony gatherings, ceremonies, and receptions. The venue can hold up to 225 wedding guests in its indoor and outdoor event spaces. Its greenhouse is a bright and airy space thatâs well suited for intimate functions and even styled photo sessions. Couples can also access the property for wedding-related photoshoots, and the staff are happy to supply decor upon request. For the main event, Historic Shady Lane provides couples separate suites to prepare beforehand. They also allow pets on their property so that all members of the family can be present. Other services they offer include set up and clean up of events, lighting and sound equipment, and WiFi.

Historic Shady Lane is/was/will always be the most beautiful venue I have ever been to. A hidden gem that I am so glad we found. We were planning the wedding from afar - we live in California, my husband is from Ohio, Iâm from New York, but we met in Pennsylvania. We wanted to go back to the state where it all started. We knew that the decision making and planning was going to be long distance⌠and I never expected how stressful that would be. The question soon became, âbut where?â. The askâs were simple, or so I thought. We wanted an outdoor venue, surrounded by ivy covered trees, a sprawling property with historical buildings placed throughout. If there was a greenhouse, that was an added bonus. This soon became an impossible search. Where to begin? I turned to Instagram and scoured through PA based photographers' instagrams to find inspiration. Just when I thought this method wasnât working and that weâd have to resort to a wedding directory site⌠Historic Shady Lane appeared. Not only was it EXACTLY what we were looking for⌠it was more.They took care of everything - the tent, the tables, the chairs, the set up and breakdown. They had golf carts to help guests get to different parts of the grounds. They had spaces to get ready. The grounds are immaculate. The only thing you needed to do was make it your own - you chose the vendors, you made it âyoursâ. Just as every love is different, so is the look and feel of your wedding. I, personally, LOVED that. It would truly be OUR day. I knew instantly that this was the place where we would be getting married and it didnât take much to convince my soon-to-be husband that this is where weâd be exchanging our vows. And with that, we made the decision.This next part will make anyone planning their wedding anxious. We put a deposit down⌠without having visited the grounds in person. Looking back, I would do it a thousand times over if given the chance to. It was one of the best decisions we made. The first time we visited HSL in person was 4 months before our wedding. How I wish I could relive that moment! It was everything we had dreamed it would be and more. We toured the property with Caitlyn and Mandy (our DOC). They stepped us through our day, and ran through so many of the details we (I) had been obsessing over the previous few months. There was no doubt in my mind that we had made the right decision.We planned everything from afar. To begin to tell you just how scary that is would not even begin to chip away at that kind of iceberg. It was terrifying! Enter HSL - the property director Caitlyn answered every question, soothed every doubt and stepped in to help at the last minute to help when some unexpected decisions needed to be made. Come the day of the wedding, the HSL staff guided and helped get our party and our guests get everywhere they needed to go. There was never a moment where someone was not available to help. Our day went on without a hitch. The act of getting married is nerve-racking enough⌠and to have a team of people behind you who do everything in their power to make it the best day ever for the two of you MEANS THE WORLD in your most anxious-nervous-excited moments. I can not thank the entire team at HSL for making our day the most perfect day. If you are thinking about having your wedding at Historic Shady Lane, stop thinking. It was one of the best decisions we made and weâd make the same decision if given the chance to do it all over again.

Having our wedding at Historic Shady Lane was hands down the best choice for our big day!!! What an incredible team HSL has. I always felt so supported and taken care of by Caitlyn. The grounds are beautiful, and to have a venue where the rain plan is just as, if not more, stunning than the original plan is SO rare. The candlelit garden party wedding I have been dreaming about for so long was 100% brought to life at HSL, rain and all! People are still raving about the venue, team, and smooth-ness of our wedding and I will forever be grateful we were a HSL couple!

We loved this venue so much! We fell in love with it the minute we stepped foot onto it. We only looked at this one, in the middle of winter and it was still beautiful. They took care of all the set up and tear down for us. It was amazing but hard to choose from all their ceremonial options. Definitely look at this venue!

Incredible place and people! I worked primarily with Caitlyn, she is straightforward in answering all questions and in asking them which I really appreciated. We had a micro wedding in the greenhouse area, guests could not believe we found such a beautiful place. The getting ready areas, the ceremony options and the set up/tear down of furniture - everything was top notch even for a small intimate wedding. Highly recommend this place for any size wedding. We utilized all of their recommendations for vendors and for our hotel. Thank you so much Historic Shady Lane, Caitlyn and staff!

Historic Shady Lane was the perfecf wedding venue! From the start of the tour with Caitlyn prior to booking, we were instantly stunned by how beautiful the property is and how well taken care of it is. We only toured this wedding venue and instantly fell in love with it even though there was snow on the ground the day we toured as the property has so many beautiful features including the greenhouse! Historic Shady Lane has so many beautiful options for ceremony sites and has separate bride and groom suites for the day of to get ready which are both well equipped for the entire day! We were able to spend our entire day on site getting ready, the ceremony and reception and they provided golf carts for easy and quick access around the property. Caitlyn and the HSL team are very responsive and helped make sure our day ran so smoothly along with our day of coordinator team from Sapphire Road. We truly could not have imagined a more perfect wedding venue than Historic Shady Lane!

Historic Shady Lane was the most amazing venue for our September wedding. From the start, the team there is very responsive to all your questions and professional through every step. We had the most beautiful bridal and groom suites to get ready in, and every inch of the grounds was well maintained, providing a TON of options for you to have your ceremony and cocktail hour spaces. They will really work with you on any vision to help bring it to life. On our day, it unfortunately rained, but the HSL team was ready for it and didn't miss a beat.. They helped us have the most beautiful ceremony in our back-up location, which turned out to be so gorgeous. We feel so thankful that we chose HSL because we don't think our wedding would've been so wonderful had we gone with another venue.

My wife and I got married at Historic Shady Lane (HSL) in September and it was an absolutely perfect experience! For starters the venue is absolutely gorgeous and the property is very well maintained with many different choices for ceremony and cocktail hour locations (we were particularly fond of the Greenhouse Terrace with all of the hydrangeas). We were going for a garden party theme and HSL delivered on that vision perfectly. In addition to all of the beautiful outdoor locations, there was also a beautiful bridal suite for the Bride's party to get ready and a cool and relaxing den for the Groom's party to hang out and get ready. The bridal suite was incredibly open with a ton of natural light which was perfect for taking some of the best photos imaginable. The cottage where the bridal suite was in featured a ton of spots for photo opportunities all around the house. In terms of logistics this venue also delivers from the minute you book it to the end of your event. Throughout the entire process Caitlyn, the Venue Director, helped us every step of the way. She was responsive to questions and helped make all the planning and little details that much easier. The venue staff were incredibly helpful and made the day go smoothly (they even had golf carts so we could get around the property quickly and easily). Booking HSL was the best decision my wife and I made for our wedding and it truly helped the entire vision come to life. If you are reading this and are on the fence, I would say book it! There is truly something for everyone here. There are so many choices for ceremony location and different packages for to fit different budgets that I think any couple would be overjoyed to get married here. Thanks so much to Caitlyn and all of the staff at HSL for making our day truly unforgettable.

My husband and I celebrated our cocktail hour and reception at HSL this past June after our church wedding. As soon as we toured this venue, we absolutely loved how open and gorgeous it was. It was the perfect combination of a classic, rustic, and garden feel. In June, the trees and flowers were in full bloom and we were blown away at how pretty it was. From the time we booked up until to the wedding day, Caitlin was so helpful and communicated with us the whole time. We loved how flexible they allowed us to be, bringing in all of our favorite vendors and being able to choose who we wanted to work with! We would highly recommend this venue to any couple!

We got married at Historic Shady Lane this July and it was the best experience we could have ever asked for! It truly was the most picturesque day at the location of our dreams.HSL was actually the first and only venue we toured. We chose it immediately after our tour with their Venue Director, Caitlyn, because it was the most gorgeous place and had everything we wanted for our special day. (Note: We also toured the venue in December, their off-season, which says a lot considering nothing was even in bloom yet and the foliage was limited! It was still that stunning.) The grounds are extremely well kept and itâs clear that a ton of work and love go into making it perfect for each coupleâs day. We chose to get married in front of the greenhouse (although there were so many gorgeous ceremony locations to choose from), had our cocktail hour in and around the greenhouse, and had our reception in the tent. The proximity of everything made it very convenient for us and our guests. When it came to the planning and logistics, HSL had so much included and Caitlyn was a dream to work with! One of our favorite parts of the venue was the fact that there were getting-ready suites for each of us and our wedding parties. It made it so our entire day was spent at HSL and there was no back and forth to other locations. The ladies brought breakfast to the cottage and spent the morning getting readyâthere was so much space (all beautifully decorated!) for everyone to get ready, jam to music, and spend some time together. The men also had a great time in the den playing foosball and hanging out before the ceremony. HSL had plenty of large golf carts on-site to help both us and guests navigate the grounds and get where we needed to quickly and comfortably. The day of was so much less stressful than we expected because everything was in place and planned to perfection by both our wedding planner (Events by Gillian & Co.) and the HSL team. All of the moving pieces were handled and we felt extremely taken care of. During and after the wedding, our guests were raving about how beautiful the venue was and said that the wedding felt like it was out of a fairytale. We could not have asked for a more perfect day and would do it all over again at HSL if we could!

I got married in May 2023 at HSL and I cannot say enough amazing things about the experience. My fiance and I had an almost two year engagement, and we chose HSL very early on in the wedding planning process. Despite having PLENTY of time, our early questions, wonderings, and worries were always answered promptly (even though I'm sure they were busy with various bookings). They provided a list of AMAZING vendors that worked seamlessly with the venue the day of our event. Caitlyn herself was always kind and beyond helpful. Wedding planning is so stressful, but her calm demeanor and her clear expertise made everything go smoothly. I had expected to be anxious, worried, and running around the day of my wedding, but Historic Shady Lane (and Sapphire Road day of coordination) truly made all of those worries disappear. The week of the wedding, I kept feeling like there should be more for me to do, but HSL totally had everything handled behind the scenes, so I could truly enjoy my wedding day AND the week leading up to it. If I did the whole wedding process over again, I would choose HSL again in a heartbeat. :) (and it goes without saying, it's the most beautiful venue, my guests are still talking to me months later about the woods, the gardens, the greenhouse, etc)

The staff was super professional and kind. The venue coordinator always went above and beyond my expectations to help with whatever was needed. She was so organized, down to earth, and there for any questions that you have. They truly make sure that your vision comes to life. She was so organized, down to earth, and there for any questions that you have. They truly make sure that your vision comes to life. This venue is magical and made my wedding day look like everything I had ever hoped for. I am so thankful I picked them for my wedding day!

Love love LOVE Historic Shady Lane venue! We got married there at the end of April and April did bring showers the weekend of our wedding but the venue staff made sure that everything was cleared and dried before our ceremony started. Our venue coordinator, Caitlyn was very attentive and answered all our questions in a timely manner! This venue is truly a dream with enchanted photo spots and a beautiful layout! Our wedding at HSL on 5/20 could not have been more perfect! The venue, including bride & groom suites, were clean and well appointed. The grounds were lush and exceptionally maintained. The team was amazing and Caitlyn was quick to respond to any questions I had. We live on the west coast so she did a great job of making sure that I was able to visit the venue and do walk throughs when I was back east. If you are looking for a venue with a mixture of indoor and outdoor spaces I can not recommend HSL enough. Thank you Caitlyn and the rest of the team for making our wedding day a dream come true!

I can't say enough good things about Historic Shady Lane. We chose this as the venue for our wedding and it was absolutely incredible. Our venue coordinator, Caitlyn, was amazing to work with throughout the entire planning process. She was responsive, kind, helpful, and patient with my indecisiveness. On the day of they absolutely knocked it out of the park. We had ~150 guests, and everything from start to finish was well coordinated, organized, and allowed all our guests to relax and have fun. Everything on the logistics side went completely smoothly. The grounds and landscaping were absolutely stunning and we're still getting compliments from all of our guests. On top of that, it was raining the entire morning of our wedding. The Historic Shady Lane staff was fantastic in helping us get a Plan B together for rain showers, and being totally flexible with us as we were watching the radar the whole day. I know there was so much more work done behind the scenes than I'm even aware of.Historic Shady Lane truly made our fairytale wedding dreams come true.

We looked at a few venues, but there was never really any question we would be booking HSL. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, but still natural. Everything looks like it's out of a story book. Even though we had been to HSL for another wedding, there are so many options that we had no problem making the day our own. The spaces designated for getting ready made the morning so fun and convenient. There was more than enough room for everyone to get ready comfortably, jam to some music, and enjoy mimosas. The house for the bridal party especially made it easy to coordinate family members. Everyone on site was so nice and helpful. Communication was quick when we had questions and they provided us with some wonderful insight regarding vendors. I honestly don't think there is a more beautiful venue with more accommodating and helpful staff out there!

The venue director is very nice and helpful however the staff used for our actual wedding day weâre not very inviting. The golf cart drivers were not pleasant or friendly. They appeared as if my wedding party and bride/groom asking for rides back to the cottage/ to the reception was a serious chore that they didnât want to do. All of our vendors were amazing however the venue doesnât provide any- you must find/hire them on your own FYI.

Despite the weather, the entire day was absolute perfection. The entire staff/team always made me feel so supported, made sure I was never stressed, and took such great care of us the entire day. So many incredible places for you to take your photos at! The reception tent is basically a blank canvas ready for you to put your unique twist on. We had a fusion Indian/American wedding which meant a lot of moving parts, 2 ceremonies and more. Caitlyn and her team at HSL were up to the task, so easy to work with and thorough in prepping for our wedding. We got so lucky with the weather, but the team was totally prepped for a rain plan just in case. Everyone we interacted with on the day of was so nice! Historic Shady Lane is such a gorgeous venue. What we loved most about the venue was that it was outdoors. The estate has so many different sites that you could utilize. From the rose garden, the greenhouse, the woodlands, and the band stand, you can create moments based on your style. The other aspect that we loved so much about Historic Shady Lane was that it is so versatile. You literally can customize everything for your wedding. We were able to pick out every detail we wanted from getting ready, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. They also have a recommended vendor list which is great since we are from out of state. We still did our research but used a lot of the vendors recommended. We all had an amazing time at Historic Shady Lane and I hope to be able to visit for an anniversary or maternity shoot!

Historic Shady Lane is such a gorgeous venue. What we loved most about the venue was that it was outdoors. The estate has so many different sites that you could utilize. From the rose garden, the greenhouse, the woodlands, and the band stand, you can create moments based on your style. The other aspect that we loved so much about Historic Shady Lane was that it is so versatile. You literally can customize everything for your wedding. We were able to pick out every detail we wanted from getting ready, the ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. They also have a recommended vendor list which is great since we are from out of state. We still did our research but used a lot of the vendors recommended. We all had an amazing time at Historic Shady Lane and I hope to be able to visit for an anniversary or maternity shoot!

When we picked this venue for our day, the staff couldnât be more welcoming and hospitable. We were given a tour of the grounds and a description of what all would be provided on our day. We were so excited that we booked our date and paid in full a year and a half in advance. Once COVID came, we were a little nervous leading up to our July date. Come May, we realized that things were not going to be better by our July date. We organized a call, expressing our concerns of the virus, the health and well-being of our guests, and the inability of our out-of-state/country guests to attend (Including 2 bridesmaids, 1 of which being the bride's sister.). We had booked this venue for 250 people, and at that point, only the county that the venue is in was allowing gatherings of up to 250 people. We were told that we would have to pay another full deposit if we would like our date moved unless it was on a Wednesday or Thursday the following year. The venue director was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the entire process, and the staff on the day of executed everything perfectly. The day ran smoothly and exceeded all of our expectations. The staff was kind and patient with us and getting carted around in golf carts for our photos was an added bonus. From the start of the booking process that lead to having to reschedule our original date Bradania made it a seamless process for us. Bradania was very attentive and accommodating to all of our needs. She was patient with us in the wake of the pandemic and was on the ride with us. My husband and I first toured HSL in May 2018, two years before our May 2020 wedding. I worked in the wedding industry in the Pittsburgh area for years and was absolutely blown away by HSL and we left our tour knowing we had to book our dream wedding here. Fast forward, we made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding. Bradania could not have been more supportive. Both my husband and I worked in public health and she was so helpful as we navigated the difficult decision. We knew with his schedule as a frontline worker we didn't have much availability for postponing, but they made sure we found a new date in May 2021.Our wedding was truly a dream come true. It was better than we could ever imagined. I look at our photos now around our home and I have a pinch me moment. The entire team didn't let a detail go unnoticed and went above and beyond. We had so many compliments from our guests (most from out of town) on how magical HSL was. The owner also went above and beyond going to get a highchair during dinner for our 1yr old ring bearer and interacting with our guests and vendors. We will be forever grateful for HSL. An outdoor wedding in mid July is a bit of a crazy idea, but Historic Shady Lane still made it not only comfortable, but beautiful! Even a thunderstorm couldnât keep us from having the most amazing day. Bradania was extremely helpful, organized, and responsive. The property is beautiful with tons of amazing amenities. The cottage and den were both comfortable places for our bridal party to get ready and hang out in before the ceremony. The reception tent is spacious enough for you to make all of your design dreams come true and still have room for all of your guests to dance the night away. I would absolutely recommend HSL to anyone looking for a beyond beautiful property to have their wedding or celebrate their nuptials.

First thing was we had to close the bar at 9:30 which we were never told. They close the venue at 10am. We were not allowed to take shots again we werenât told. The major issue we had with this venue was flexibility during COVID. Simply, the conversations leading up to the day were a nightmare and caused immense stress for us. They were not understanding in the slightest about our concerns of having over 200 people in one gathering and said if we chose to change our date it would have to be a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday for the following year, while still paying Saturday pricing. They also mentioned that if we wanted to switch to one of their available weekend dates we would have to pay the full price again. They continuously reminded us that what they were doing was perfectly legal and we would have to figure the rest out. It was disheartening and frustrating. That being said, service on the day of is impeccable. The tall trees and multiple mini-venue options were a huge perk, as well as property exclusivity. The HSL name recognition with local vendors helped as well; we received several discounts simply because we were at this venue. There are only small space heaters on site and one working fireplace, so for a winter/ late fall wedding we would recommend buying blankets for guests if outdoors. The heaters are enough to warm up the greenhouse. Our ultimate verdict on this venue is torn. We did have a beautiful and incredible day. However, the stress of such an unempathetic venue as it concerns COVID, or as mentioned in other reviews, tragedies, makes it difficult to write as strong of a review as we would have liked.

The major issue we had with this venue was flexibility during COVID. Simply, the conversations leading up to the day were a nightmare and caused immense stress for us. They were not understanding in the slightest about our concerns of having over 200 people in one gathering and said if we chose to change our date it would have to be a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday for the following year, while still paying Saturday pricing. They also mentioned that if we wanted to switch to one of their available weekend dates we would have to pay the full price again. They continuously reminded us that what they were doing was perfectly legal and we would have to figure the rest out. It was disheartening and frustrating. That being said, service on the day of is impeccable. HSL was the first venue I stumbled across on Wedding Wire back in 2018 so you can imagine I hold a special place in my heart for these grounds and the staff. My (now) husband and I did a walk-through with Bradania and immediately fell in love and signed the paperwork that evening. We had planned for a May 2020 wedding. Now, fast-forward two years to 2020, no one knew we would be entering into a global pandemic! While my friends and family members were all canceling and having to postpone their weddings indefinitely due to COVID restrictions, we were so insanely lucky to be able to have our wedding here. We just felt like we were meant to find this venue and we were so thankful we did back in 2018!I cannot stress how professional, organized, helpful, and just downright AMAZING Bradania is! It seriously felt like I gained another friend in meeting her and getting to know her through the process. She was always so quick to answer emails and has a recommendation for any question you ask! When we were going through the COVID postponement process in March she was emailing me back minute by minute as she tried to organize everyone from the springtime pushing their wedding back. The girl is incredible! The entire staff during the day of our event were ON THE BALL - if you needed a golf cart, they were there! If you needed a bottle of water, you had it! It was just so refreshing to feel like everyone else had it all covered and all you needed to do as the bride/groom was show up and tie the knot!On top of all of this, the grounds are just so gorgeous and there is so much room to spread out, decorate, and make it uniquely your own. They have so many different options for ceremony spots and continue to add more each year. The reception tent is huge and not having to worry about renting tables or chairs is so refreshing! They have antique furniture that they keep in the greenhouse to which you can use to help decorate for your day. Not to mention space for yard games and a fire pit. They have thought of everything to make a wedding absolutely incredible... and our wedding was! We could not have asked for a more perfect day at Historic Shady Lane. All of our vendors and the HSL staff just really killed it and we owe them so many post-COVID hugs. Love this place! Thank you HSL for making our dream into a reality! <3

It is honestly hard to put into words how grateful we are for the incredible team at Historic Shady Lane. Planning a wedding is stressful...planning a wedding during a pandemic is a whole different ball game. The bridal cottage at HSL is the same house that my grandpa grew up in. He was so happy to knew that we were getting married at his âhouse.â This past October my grandpa sadly passed away. So needless to say, I was heartbroken when the pandemic hit and I thought that we would not be able to get married at HSL. Caitlin and the entire team knew how important this venue was to us and they made our day happen. We had a small ceremony with just our family this year and then planned for a big party next year! Caitlin worked so hard to keep us updated every step of the way. She is absolutely amazing! The entire team is truly one of a kind. They all worked together to give us the most amazing ceremony. As listed in nearly every other 5 Star review of HSL, the venue is truly MAGICAL. The first time I visited Shady Lane for a photo shoot 2 years prior to our wedding, I knew this is where I wanted to get married. When my fiance and I took the tour of the venue after we got engaged, he leaned over to me and told me that we needed to keep our options open because this venue was a bit out of our budget. Half way through our tour with Lauren, he pulled me aside and said that he didn't want to look anywhere else because it was absolutely perfect. And on 11.01.19, it was perfect.We were crushed to hear the news of Lauren leaving the venue because honestly she was 90% of the reason we booked the venue. She seemed incredibly trustworthy and dedicated and diligent. And she was. We were hesitant when we were virtually introduced to our new venue coordinator, Bradania, but she filled Lauren's shoes very well. Bradania was quick to answer any questions we had within a 24 hour time frame, sometimes even in just 2 hours. There was a giant rainstorm the night before our wedding, but the new plot of land in the Grove area where we got married wasn't soaked enough to be an issue. We were SO excited to be the first to get married in that gorgeous new woody, earthy location! From planning, to the end of the night wrap up at 11pm, the staff on golf carts and running around the venue were extremely helpful. I have to give a huge shout out to Sara and Katie for manning the firepit with my crazy friends who are total firebugs. You ladies handled them well and with good humor! They can't stop talking about how much fun they had with you.I can't even begin to write down how many people told us the venue was stunning and it was the perfect location for a wedding. The cottage and the den are amazing for green room areas. The greenhouse is perfect as is and hardly needs any decor at all. The tent is jaw dropping and so cozy feeling. We even got to bring our dogs onto the property before the wedding to get photos with them while we were getting ready & with our bridal party! That truly made it even more special.The only mishap we had with the day was our DJs couldn't get their music to play right before the reception as guests were moving in after cocktail hour. They told me they had all set up and tested prior to there ceremony with no bugs, but someone who was tending the lawn of the venue could have possibly run over the cord for their set up when they came down for ceremony & cocktail hour. The issue was quickly resolved by the owner and I didn't hear about it until the day after so it all seemed perfect to me! Thank you, Shady Lane, for making our wedding 100.

I honestly don't even know where to start. My wedding was a dream, and the venue and staff of HSL are absolutely amazing. From day one it was a fantastic experience, we knew from the venue tour that this was where we wanted our special day to take place. The staff was a real selling point, other tours felt like \"just another meeting,\" but the staff at Shady Lane from day one REALLY cared about you as a couple, your story, and what you were looking for when it came to the biggest day of your life. From there they were literally with us every single step of the way. Caitlin did a fantastic job with sending us check in emails along the planning process, giving me tips on vendors or other things that I should be thinking about/doing. They were also extremely responsive to any questions that I had, and flexible if I needed to meet with them in person for any reason. The venue has a beautiful bridal cottage for the girls to get ready in which i a HUGE space. The guys also have a private den in a separate house. There are so many great spots for pictures and to hold your cocktail hour outside of the white reception tent. The staff the day of was extremely attentive and was there for whatever we needed. I want to re-live my wedding day over and over again, and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful venue.

The staff was a real selling point, other tours felt like \"just another meeting,\" but the staff at Shady Lane from day one REALLY cared about you as a couple, your story, and what you were looking for when it came to the biggest day of your life. From there they were literally with us every single step of the way. Caitlin did a fantastic job with sending us check in emails along the planning process, giving me tips on vendors or other things that I should be thinking about/doing. They were also extremely responsive to any questions that I had, and flexible if I needed to meet with them in person for any reason. The venue has a beautiful bridal cottage for the girls to get ready in which i a HUGE space. The guys also have a private den in a separate house. There are so many great spots for pictures and to hold your cocktail hour outside of the white reception tent. The staff the day of was extremely attentive and was there for whatever we needed. I want to re-live my wedding day over and over again, and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful venue.

Living in Florida and planning a wedding can be overwhelming but they were so helpful leading up to the day and incredibly helpful day of! HSL! We will always have the fondest place in our heart for this wonderful venue and the wonderful people who work there. My husband and I were married there this past June and still canât get over our amazing wedding venue. We fell in love with HSL on our first walk through in February. Even though we couldnât see the amazing flowers in bloom at that time, we knew right away that this place was our wedding venue. The bandstand, rose garden, green house, cottage, and den completely sealed the deal. Caitlin was our contact person at HSL and she was fantastic. She communicated with us leading up to the day-of and kept us in the loop on anything we should have been doing such as getting liability insurance, creating seating plans, etc. (side note- HSL uses an awesome online program that makes the seating and coordinating between vendors so much easier)! Caitlin was so fun to work with and had the best sense of humor. She was patient with all of our questions, informative, flexible with planning our site visits, and she gave us some great ideas and inspiration for our day of set-up and decor. Caitlin and the day-of staff were professional, responsive, and so helpful. They truly helped us create the perfect wedding day. I could ramble on about all of our love for HSL. Our wedding day felt like a fairy tale.

This place is incredible. Unbelievable. Magical. You may think I am biased because I got married there, but seriously every other guest at cocktail hour told me they couldn't believe what an incredible venue it was. Bradania will always be there for you to answer even the tiniest of questions and even the owners of the property were around towards the end and chatted with us and were so friendly. We were able to tour the place a few times with different vendors and family members before the big day which really helped with the planning process.I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH about what is included with the packages. it's actually crazy. The price itself may sound slightly higher than a cheap venue but it is sooooo worth it because you get:⢠All chairs and tables for ceremony, cocktail, and reception⢠SO MUCH vintage furniture to get amazing photos with⢠Draping and chandeliers in the tent⢠Chandeliers and ferns on the historic glass greenhouse⢠Fans or heat⢠Bathrooms and parking⢠Staff onsite all dayâ˘Awesome getting ready areas for girls and guysI am sure I am forgetting a bunch. My husband and I had drooled over HSLâs website pictures for weeks and when we finally scheduled a tour we knew right away that this had to be our venue. Our guests could not stop talking about how breathtaking the venue was and how unique it was that everything is spread out and the ceremony and reception sites werenât crammed together. Everything is so unique and there is not a bad spot on the entire property between the ivy covered trees, the stunning greenhouse, the beautiful tent sitting on top of the hill, I could go on forever đ. The den and bridal cottage are incredible and it was so nice and convenient to have a place for both the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready and have fun! Not only is HSL a picturesque venue but itâs staff is so accommodating and truly want you to have a perfect experience. We were given an on call number and they answered any questions we had and picked us up in golf carts while taking pictures and all throughout the day (a very much appreciated gesture in the 100+ degree heat). Caitlin was our venue coordinator and she was very responsive throughout the entire engagement process and on the wedding day. I could not be happier to have had our wedding at HSL and I cannot stop staring at our pictures because it looks like we were married at a venue seen in fairytales. Thank you Historic Shady Lane, Caitlin, and all of the staff members who helped make our day perfect and dreamy!

Historic Shady lane is the most magical venue I have ever been to. The staff went above and beyond to make sure all of our details were covered, before and during our day. We especially appreciated their genuine excitement, calm but friendly presence, and meticulous attention to our wants and needs. I dreamt about this day but was overjoyed to find that it was made even more beautiful than I imagined, mostly thanks to HSL. 10/10 would recommend. There are so many opportunities for brides to make this venue their dream day with their own style. Also shout out to Bradania for being there for us through every question, and every issue. I couldnât have asked for someone sweeter and on top of it to check in with us throughout the day. She is so considerate and really made the day go smoothy.

Historic Shady Lane was everything we dreamed of and more. The staff was super helpful leading up to, and day of our wedding. The grounds are so well kept and they are always sure they are doing things to keep it fresh. We had a pretty large guest list and it never felt cramped. Can not say enough fantastic things about our experience. Would not change a single thing!

Historic Shady Lane was everything we dreamed of and more. The staff was super helpful leading up to, and day of our wedding. The grounds are so well kept and they are always sure they are doing things to keep it fresh. We had a pretty large guest list and it never felt cramped. Can not say enough fantastic things about our experience. Would not change a single thing!

Historic Shady Lane was the perfect location for our wedding! From the first moment that we visited Historic Shady Lane, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. We loved the history of the property and the beautiful grounds. The flexibility of various places that you could have the ceremony was a great benefit and we loved the getting ready spaces. The bridal cottage was so wonderful for preparing for the day with my bridesmaids and family and my husband loved the den to hangout with his groomsmen. Lauren was super attentive and responsive throughout the entire process. The directory provided by HSL was also super helpful in starting to find our other vendors. Lauren and the entire HSL staff were very friendly and helpful on our wedding day and we appreciate everything they did! HSL is truly a gem in Central Pennsylvania. Most of our guests were from out of town and had never been to the area but even over a year later, tell us how beautiful the venue was and that it made the trip even more wonderful! On our wedding day, we initially were going to do our ceremony in front of the house, but a rain storm was coming through and our ceremony was moved to the greenhouse. It turned out to be perfect and so intimate and unique! It was one of our favorite things about the venue from the beginning and our focus on nature and plants for our wedding was complimented by the historic greenhouse. We highly recommend Historic Shady Lane to any couple getting married!!

My husband and I fell in love with this property the second we laid eyes on it online, during the tour, and againduring our wedding day. Not only is the estate everything you could want in a wedding venue, the employees make everything so incredibly easy and stress free. We were nervous to plan a wedding in York when living permanently in New England, but Lauren, Caitlyn, and Bradania made it such an easy process for us. They were responsive to each question asked and really went above and beyond what you typically would expect. When you think of a gorgeous venue, this is what you envision and then some. Guests raved about the beauty of this estate from the gardens, to the main house and green house, to its privacy tucked away in the trees. Our wedding was made even more special by deciding to have it at Historic Shady Lane!

There are not enough words to describe how amazing HSL was the day of our wedding. I absolutely LOVED the amount of time and care that the staff put into making sure your day is as perfect as possible. I cannot thank Bradania and Caitlin enough for everything that was done for my husband and I. All of our guests loved the golf carts and the beauty of the estate. I highly recommend this venue to any bride and groom that want a quality, love-filled beautiful day! HSL will not disappoint.

Absolutely amazing. Totally recommend to anyone interested in this venue. The staff is so wonderful and accommodating, and the venue itself is gorgeous. They have a ton of vintage furniture that they let you use at no extra cost!!! SO great.

Venus is amazing, but staff is unreliable and unprofessional. The venue is beyond beautiful! But on the day of our wedding, all three of the venue's properties flooded. When we inquired with the owner about what had happened, they claimed it was our fault because we did not have a venue coordinator- even though the property itself is their responsibility. We never received an apology from any of the staff. When we emailed the owner about our issues, we received a nasty email in response from one of the staff members. Our guests stood in 2 inches of water and were never advised where to go, for safety measures. Also, we had handicapped guests, whom were never helped escorted to the venue, as promised in our contract. Caitlin, who was to be the day-of coordinator, was non-existent and no help whatsoever. Losing Lauren as their coordinator, has substantially affected the level of service they can offer. Would only recommend if Lauren was back in charge.

Caitlyn Glatfelter (Events Director) Hello!I'm Caitlyn, the Venue Director at Historic Shady Lane. From the time a couple inquires, through their tour, planning process, and the day of their wedding- I am their contact person at the estate! At Historic Shady Lane, we believe in providing top service, which means you aren't passed off to numerous staff members.
