Molly Morgan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-10-2022 The Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront was the perfect location for us to have our reception. The food was amazing, even better than the tasting. The price was reasonable for a wedding. Gina was absolutely amazing to work with. Gina gave clear communication and ensure we had the perfect reception. It was a great set up for a reception, the access to the patio was so convenient. I really wanted our reception at a hotel d/t all of our out of town guests, and that convenience was wonderful. The wait staff at the reception was so nice and joyful, they seemed to enjoy themselves as much as we did (well, maybe not as much, but they were great). I would 100% recommend having your wedding here! Reviewed on 09-01-2023
Indigo Nummerdor(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-06-2021 We had the absolute worst experience. We initially booked our wedding in 2019 for Sept 2020 at the Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront. Due to COVID we rescheduled for May 2021. Although most aspects of the booking were on hold we still were happy with the venue and the process. I had finalized all the change of details not only with this venue but with all my other vendors, everything was confirmed and signed. I had to pay change of date fews for almost all my vendors please keep in mind. This included our venue contracting stating if we cancelled the new date we would still owe thousands of dollars, all of which we were ok with as we had no intentions of cancelling. During the entire year of working with them I spoke to 3 different wedding coordinators there as they continued to have people leave. I get a voicemail a week after all the date changes are made stating to check my email. I check my email to find the coordinator Brandi emailed me stating someone \"accidently\" double booked the new May 2021 date we had confirmed in their system and it was no longer an option for us. When I called her she didn't answer until the third time I called. She was unapologetic, stated the system must have somehow been down and my options were to pick a new date 7+ months later or she will cancel the contract. She then emails me a termination of contract. So without so much as an I am sorry I am left scrambling to either try to re-book all my vendors for a new date with this venue who very clearly doesn't care about me and is not at all trustworthy at this point, which cost money even if they had the dates available which none did, or find a new venue. Which thankfully we did. I am so grateful as it was a blessing in disguise. The new venue had one amazing contact the entire time and was a 100% better experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this place at all as they could care less about you, your time, your money or your wedding! Reviewed on 03-01-2022
Audrey Uhing(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2019 Our experience with Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront was PERFECT from start to finish. When we started our search, we had 3 other venue tours lined up and Holiday Inn/The Anchorage was our first tour. Stephanie, the Catering Manager, did such a phenomenal job with our tour and spent several hours with us sitting down and answering all questions/concerns and walking us through the venue and all of our options. I ask a LOT of questions, and Stephanie was so patient and understanding with us as we started the journey of planning a wedding. We connected with her so well and she did such an amazing job that we cancelled all 3 of our other tours on the way home and called her to tell her we would be booking with her! Stephanie went above and beyond to be with me every step of the way and calm my stress/nerves/concerns. If we had to do this again 1,000 times, we would pick her EVERY SINGLE TIME! The venue was perfect for our wedding. Having everything in one place was EXTREMELY convenient. We arrived early on Friday to start welcoming our guests at the hotel bar as they arrived to check in before rehearsal dinner in the Anchorage on Friday night. The space for the rehearsal was perfect - overlooking the river with the beautiful windows was a great setting to kick off our wedding weekend. We had our ceremony, reception and gift opening at the hotel and let me tell you it was WONDERFUL having everything/everyone in one spot all weekend. Our friends and family are pretty heavy drinkers, so the convenience of having hotel rooms was a huge relief for us knowing that no one had to drive home and could enjoy themselves safely. The packages that the venue offered were wonderful and we felt that we received a very good value for our money! Stephanie helped set everything up (which i thought was so incredible and outside of her job description.. but if that doesn't tell you how amazing she is !!), and she was there for EVERYTHING the entire weekend. It was a huge relief knowing that i had her there to ensure everything was going as planned, and i had all the faith in the world in her. And if there were any hiccups, i had no idea! We received MANY wonderful compliments on the food at the venue. We made a point to go around to all of our guests during dinner so that we could see and talk to everyone that made the time to come celebrate with us, and every single table had nothing but amazing things to say about the food. The hotel set up we loved. It is small and quaint and SUPER cute, and it made us feel like we were the only ones there. The view of the river for the ceremony was absolutely beautiful and perfect. Like i said... if we could do this over again 1,000 times, we would pick Stephanie and the Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront/The Anchorage every single time. Hats off to the staff and especially Stephanie for a flawless weekend. It was one we will never forget. Reviewed on 05-11-2019

The hotel is very modern and updated and extremely beautiful. Part of having your wedding there is the hotel staff decorates for you and they did an absolutely amazing job. Everything I envisioned turned out absolutely beautiful and exactly the way I wanted it. The hotel even has a patio area that’s right off of the ballroom and bar which our guests loved. The patio has plenty of seating and a fire pit that made the night even more special with a beautiful view of the river. We had several choices for our dinner menu and all of them were superb. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the food the was. Stephanie, the wedding coordinator was very attentive, approachable and helpful with the entire planning process. Melissa Losano(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-04-2018 We originally booked with Michael and his communication with us was AMAZING. I was very comfortable with having him as our point of contact and was very detail oriented. However, he left about a month before our wedding and they hired a new Catering Manager, Jamie. I thought she did a great job touching base with me and even helped correct a timing error that I had on my invitations. She was amazing at making sure I had my decorations all set and set them up the day of and the reception looked beautiful. However, we had some events that happened that made this review a two star. We are not sure what happened to our extra cake, we were never told or asked what to do with it and I am confident that we had left overs. Secondly, and the more pressing issue is that we suspect my wallet was stolen out of our hotel room when they had put in our complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We are not 100% about this but we know that we left it in the room and it was gone when we came back. I didn’t want to accuse anyone but when we alerted the front desk about the situation, we did not hear any word back about the situation. We also never heard anything from the Catering Manager. I had such a wonderful time at my reception but having my wallet taken deterred me from having a 5 star experience. Once again, I am not sure who to put “blame” on and I don’t necessarily want to accuse anyone but I thought my experience warranted a review about this venue. Reviewed on 15-07-2018
Kelly McGrath(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-06-2018 I had my wedding reception at the Holiday Inn MKE Riverfront on 6/2/18. We had such a great experience, I wouldn’t have changed a thing! We originally booked with Michael, the previous and experienced wedding coordinator, and we were quite nervous when we heard he was leaving. However, we had nothing to worry about. Rosemary stepped in to cover his absence and she did a great job and was very responsive to me, as well as, responsive with my mom who did a lot for my wedding. We met with Rosemary the week before and she went over everything with us and made last minute changes to the total number of guests and the room layout that we requested. She also met with me the week of just to go over the details one last time. The day of she was there from 1:45pm until after dinner was served. She checked in with me right when I arrived and notified that they decided not to set up a second bar because ther was another event in the hotel so the guest would’ve intermingled. To remedy they put all the bartenders behind the bar that was close to the dance floor and patio. The line was long during cocktail hour but that is to be expected with 200 guests arriving at the same time. She also periodically checked in with me and she found me before she left to make sure I didn’t need anything. Everything went according to schedule as far as cocktail hour, getting seated for dinner and late night snack. Overall we had a great experience. Reviewed on 12-06-2018
Sam B(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-06-2019 We had our wedding in March /2018. The Venue now is under NEW management. If we knew that Mike is leaving we would NOT have our wedding at the Holiday Inn. The day of the wedding I asked Rosemary “ the new manager “ if anyone from the hotel will be around in case we needed something. She said and CONFIRMED that herself and another lady will be there until the dinner is over . NO ONE was there .. The dirty plates after the dinner were all over our Head table and the guest tables all night .. The cake for some reason was in the middle of the dance floor!! I have to move it myself with help of my husband at the side so our guests can dance comfortably. When it’s time to cut the cake there was NO plate or forks for us and all the plates were already dirty from the dinner !! We had to use dirty fork to taste and have a bite from the cake !! The was NO one take the cake away from the dance floor . Our DJ guy had to step out to call someone from the hotel to take the cake . Even then more than half of our guests left without tasting the cake because AGAIN we had to send the DJ guy to find someone to cut and surve the cake for our guests .The late night snacks were in the buffet room and no one told anybody that the late night snacks were ready !! The groom was stepping out for a little bit and saw that the Late snacks were ready for the guests. We have booked a BLOCK of 6 rooms for our guests to stay the night the day before and after the wedding. Rosemary emailed us the confirmation number for each room booked . The day our guests arrived , the confirmation numbers we received from Rosemary did not exist and the front desk lady had to do a new reservation for our guests . Nicole Flaherty(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-07-2017 Everyone told us planning a wedding was stressful, hard work and they added that planning a long-distance wedding was that multiplied by 10. While it was difficult at times, working with Michael and the folks at the Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront was not a big source of that stress. Working with Michael was more than we could have asked or hoped for with his generous hospitality, calming demeanor, and accommodating approach. While Michael was our main point-of-contact, every single person we dealt with at the hotel was approachable, patient, and willing to help from the dining manager, to the front desk specialists, and to Brian at the bar (who was especially candid and honest). As a Marquette couple now living on the West Coast, it was a goal of both of ours to have a “Marquette” wedding. The wife’s side is still in the midwest, and most of our friends are still in the area as well. When we first told Michael of our desire to visit Milwaukee and look at a few venues including the Holiday Inn, he was very excited and even offered a room to us at a reduced rate to aid in our search. He showed us his space, while explaining what at the time was planned renovations and how they would affect it. Those renovations, I believe have been completed now. Even though he knew we were also looking elsewhere, Michael never once tried to push the hard sell and instead advised us on other venues to also look at reminding us that it is our day (but really the wife’s) and that we need to pick a place that’s right for us. When we returned that night from our other visits, the room had a surprise waiting for us. After a long day where it felt some places were looking at us with dollar signs in their eyes, this little act of hospitality really set the Holiday Inn apart for us.Throughout the planning process, Michael understood the difficulty in some of the regularly scheduled aspects of wedding planning and was extremely flexible in moving tastings, table cloth choosings, etc. forward and backward on the calendar to coincide with our visits to the area. He sent what he could over e-mail and snail mail, and as long as we kept him in the loop on our visits, he did the best he could to meet with us in person. All in all, the scheduling worked out great and he always helped us in finding an affordable room to stay in overnight during our visit!Michael was also very accommodating for our ideas for room set-up, and centerpieces, and use of the patio. When he asked us about what late night snack we wanted, we had hoped cheese curds would be on the menu so that all guests from out of state could taste the magic that is the golden fried ooey-gooey goodness that are fresh Wisconsin cheese curds so when they weren’t on the list, we were a little disappointed. Michael, however, says, “No problem! We can do that!” and lo and behold, the night of our reception the guests who made it the final hours were enjoying those golden nuggets of cheese. When we asked if we could set up bags boards on the patio for the guests to play, Michael said “Sure, no problem!” It seemed like any reasonable request we had, Michael was happy to oblige. Of course, I’m sure there’s a limit to what they can do, but that’s why I say “reasonable” request. Our centerpieces required staging of stuffed animals, a mini mailbox, and pads of paper with pens. Michael was on top of that as well, and when we walked in after the ceremony, it was done to perfection. Reviewed on 25-08-2017

Molly Kral(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-11-2015 I chose the Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront (HIM) because it had recently gone through a renovation and was near to my venue. It took several attempts to get in contact with the HIM for information alone. I submitted requests online and no one reached out so I called. When I called, I spoke with Karen who acted like it was my fault the emails hadn't gone through. I booked my room block because they had a good price and offered a shuttle service. As we neared my wedding date (and hotel block book by date), several of my guests contacted me to tell me the block was full. I reached out to Karen who again acted like it was my guests fault that the issue occurred. I got ahold of her manager who reached their corporate office and were able to fix the issue - and issue in their computer system, which had nothing to do with the competency of my guests. I also requested adjoining rooms for my bridesmaids to get ready in on the wedding day. I emailed with Karen about this several times and each time, she confirmed the rooms were set up as adjoining. Upon check in, I found out that was not true. Luckily one of my bridesmaids was able to talk the front desk into letting us use a conference room with adjoining rooms. The final straw was that the HIM has a bar in their lobby which we were hoping to have available to our guests. My wedding venue closed at 12 am and many of my guests were from out of town. In Milwaukee, you can't buy liquor at a liquor store after 9 pm. This is something that my guests definitely wouldn't have known so I contacted both Karen and her manager. I was assured the bar would remain open until 1 am. When we arrived, it was completely shut down at 12:30 am. Overall, the hotel block was the most frustrating part of my wedding. Every issue I had was met with an attitude that it was my fault. In reality, we had over 20 rooms booked at the HIM, if not more, that they wouldn't have had a random November weekend without my wedding. I did not appreciate being treated like I was the issue when all of the issues occurred on the HIM's side - the hotel block, the bar closing, the adjoining rooms - and I have the emails confirming how things were to be taken care of. I would not stay at this location again. Reviewed on 01-12-2015

We had our daughter's wedding reception here in June. The venue location is wonderful. We had many out of town guests who loved the hotel and outdoor patio. The view of the Milwaukee River by the patio and restaurant was an added attraction.\rThe food was very good. We had asked for an ethnic dish (chicken biryani) and when their chef could not prepare it, they ordered it from an outside restaurant which made us and our guests very happy. \rThis was their first wedding after reopening as a Holiday Inn. Coordination could have been better. We had problems with table set up, 28 tables instead of 29 even though there were 29 table numbers, table toppers, and centerpieces. They set up one hosted bar and one cash bar instead of both hosted, even though it was written in the contract that there were to be two hosted bars. Desserts were put out with the appetizers instead of after dinner. I would advise having a copy of your contract and a list of how you want things and then appoint someone to make sure that everything is set up the way you want it so that you can enjoy the event.
