We are an out-of-town couple and the ease of everything and everyone being together and taken care of was exactly what we needed! Hotel Covington did a fantastic job. It’s beautiful inside and out and the staff was friendly. Our ceremony, cocktail hour and the majority of our photos were all outside in the courtyard area. Our day-of-coordinator, Megan was wonderful to work with and she also catered to our families throughout the weekend. I wish we would’ve had a better rehearsal space instead of a conference room, but really that’s it. All around, perfect October weekend! Reviewed on 16-12-2023

This is a hot venue so we did have to book in January 2022 for our September 2023 wedding. Cheyenne was on top of all the details and made me feel secure throughout the planning process about the status of our event. Although there were still a lot of pieces we had to coordinate ourselves, Cheyenne was regularly checking in, staying up to date on our plans, and giving helpful recommendations as we went along. Our only two bumps we hit were with the timeline for our day and the ballroom itself. When booking the event our ceremony was booked for 5pm-6pm and our reception was booked for 7pm-12am. When booking I had asked what would happen with the hour in between and was told it would be a cocktail hour so I thought nothing of it. When we were about a month out from the event Cheyenne reached out to let us know that it was a mistake and asked if we wanted to bump our reception up. Since we had already printed and sent invitation showing the end time as midnight we were not wanting to do this. Thankfully, Cheyenne and the event team were willing to work with us to make it right and extended our reception to be 6pm-12am at no additional cost to us. The other bump was that in the year and a half between booking the venue and our event, renovations were done to The Crystal that we were not notified of. I discovered them when we went for our food tasting and we saw the room for the first time since booking. The room is almost fully mirrored and they had applied an antique glass effect to them that I really disliked. There wasn’t anything we could do about this with the event being less than 2 months out and the other reception spaces being booked. This was disappointing, but ultimately on the day of just didn’t matter at all. I only wish we had been given a heads up at the time of renovations so that we could have pivoted plans to a space that was more our aesthetic and vibe. Our ceremony was held on The Lawn at Hotel Covington. I can’t say for certain, but I think there were at least two other weddings happening at the venue on our date. Initially this made me nervous, but you could hardly tell. Our party wasn’t interrupted at all! The Lawn is absolutely stunning and was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony! It was also a fun bonus that my room in the hotel overlooked The Lawn. As I was getting ready throughout the day I could look out and see the florists progress, I could see our guests arrive, and I could watch my husband process down the aisle with his parents. I’ll also note that the hotel is pet friendly which was amazing! We had our dog in our wedding and she was able to stay overnight with us. It was super convenient to have her participate in our ceremony, and then to be able to drop her off up in our hotel room before heading over to the reception! Our reception was in The Crystal Ballroom. It was nice to be right on the first floor and the space comfortably held our ~150 guest wedding with room to spare! I only wish the tables had been more spread out and spread further back towards the entrance of the room. They felt very cramped together which seemed unnecessary given all the space that was open at the end of the room. The price tag looks steep at first glance, it ended up being on par with other more venues we looked at once you factored in caterer, bar services, decor rentals, tables/chairs, and linens. I highly recommend for couples looking to have a smoother planning experience with less moving parts from outside vendors. Reviewed on 09-10-2023

We worked with Zoey to coordinate event details ahead of time, Heather to plan our room block, and Dezeray to coordinate the weekend of the event. In addition, we had lots of help the weekend of our event from the folks at the front desk in guest services, and the folks working the valet stand. Everyone we worked with was so kind and helpful, which made our wedding a wonderful experience!Their event spaces are really beautiful, which made for great photos, and also helped us to streamline our decor so we didn’t need to purchase a lot of extra decor or deal with hauling it around. The lobby is also a beautiful space with a really fantastic craft cocktail bar and delicious food, which made it a perfect space for our guests to gather the night before our wedding and after the reception for those who wanted to keep the night going. Our guests gave really positive feedback about their experience at the hotel! The catering food is pretty standard wedding fare, and you do have to use their inhouse kitchen. I liked the convenience factor of having it all built in, so that worked for us. We added on a selection of plated cakes for dessert and flatbreads as a late night snack, which were both really delicious and probably our favorite part of the meal! The Sales Manager Amber did a really thorough job of showing us all the spaces, and reviewing their policies/package options with us at our initial tour before we signed a contract, so there were no surprises. Jillian Schneider(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2022 We got married on the lawn/courtyard at Hotel Covington and everything was incredible. Riley and Dezaray were great to work with leading up to the event and as our day-of coordinator, respectively. The venue's beauty speaks for itself, so we barely had to decorate, but due to getting married in November, we opted for tents. The tents were clear, which made you still feel connected to the elevated design of the hotel, and we were given until the week of the wedding to decide tents or no tents, which was so helpful. We had our ceremony on the lawn, cocktail hour in the lobby while the staff flipped the lawn to become the reception and dance floor area, and then proceeded with our reception in the full courtyard. For all the logistics involved, everything went extremely smooth, and on top of that, the entire staff was truly amazing. They took time to make sure we, as well as our guests, were really taken care of--one staff member even brought out her personal jacket when my grandma mentioned she was chilly. I loved this venue for it's rustic vibe, but also because it is already so gorgeous that I only had to do minimal decorating. The lobby is so cute and a great place for guests to hang out before/after the wedding. I worked with Jim when it came to hotel blocks, and he was always so helpful and answered all my questions.I will say that I did have one negative thing happen while there that doesn't have to do with the ceremony venue, and it was to one of my guests regarding her hotel room. She realized when she was checking out after the wedding weekend that she was missing a very valuable ring and a pair of earrings from her jewelry bag. She never wore the earrings and the ring she only wore one night, and she put it back in the bag. She didn't use the safe, so there wasn't anything we could really do, but it was really disappointing that she had jewelry go missing that only would have been accessible by the her, her husband, or hotel staff in the room. Just sharing my experience with others so you can warn your guests to make sure they put valuables in the safe. The missing jewelry was never recovered. Reviewed on 15-11-2022

Gabrielle Stansberry(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-08-2022 We had our wedding at Hotel Covington two weeks ago and overall our experience was good. We absolutely love the venue it's so beautiful and it was perfect for our old Hollywood glam aesthetic. However, we felt the expectations they set for us on the level of service and attentiveness day of and the days leading up to fell short. From day one we were told we were given one \"complimentary hour\" for the hotel staff to setup our reception. I was instantly concerned with the time slot allotted but was repeatedly reassured that there's a whole team and they do this every weekend. We were told there were a few things we'd have to setup ourselves such as our neon sign and stand but then a few weeks leading up to the wedding were told we'd also need to setup our own centerpieces they were \"more detailed\". They were pretty standard as far as wedding centerpieces go, but with 18 tables that was a pretty big task to only be aware of two weeks before the wedding. Then 2 weeks before we were asked if we wanted to setup our own reception or if we wanted to have \"one\" of their staff members do it. We didn't even know that was an option to setup ourselves and so we of course hadn't planned a time to even do so the week of. We ended up having to scramble to ask the wedding party to help us setup before the rehearsal. We made an apt with our event coordinator to setup and were told she'd be there to answer any questions. When we arrived for our apt we had the front desk notify our event coordinator and asked her to come and meet us but she just never came. So we had no one there to help us or tell us what the table numbers were. We stood around for 30 min (an hour before our rehearsal) because the seating chart attachment in a previous email wouldn't open up. Prior to this our event coordinator was overall very friendly and quick to respond! We were also told we'd have a day of coordinator to basically run the show the day of the wedding. We assumed this meant all day. Apparently, they only meant we'd have a coordinator for the reception but no one to actually help day of with facilitating where to go for our first look, letting guests know how to get to the lawn, etc. We were told our photographer should handle all of that which thankfully our photographer was amazing and she did. Our event captain, Patty, was the bomb! Patty was a God send and very on top of things. The room blocks were also a pain because you are held to 80% attrition of the rooms that don't get booked and have to put a card on file. We didn't feel comfortable taking that on so we opted not to and then were told we couldn't get the half off discount for having our wedding there for the 2 suites we were booking for 2 nights so the groomsmen and bridesmaids could get ready in them the day of. This would've been another 2k just for 2 rooms to get ready in. I pushed back on this with the sales manager and she was at first very sassy and not pleasant to work with. She did however reach back out shortly after our initial call and said she'd spoken with her manager and would still give us the discount she wanted us to have a good experience. We of course were very grateful and appreciative that she rectified the situation. Overall, we'd still have our wedding at Hotel Covington we love the aesthetic but didn't have the smoothest experience working with the event staff. Reviewed on 22-08-2022

We were promised an easel for the reception to display our seating chart. No easel was provided and the seating chart was spread across our guest book table instead. We had 20 less guests than we planned and paid for, but the staff still ran out of napkins and plates during the cocktail hour. During photos, the bartender was asked to watch our bouquets and then our 5 vases and bridesmaid bouquets turned up missing, and still have not been recovered. Meanwhile, the bartender failed to cut off guests who abused the open bar. At the end of the reception, my family was tasked alone with cleaning up and removing all decorations from the ballroom. When we stayed at the hotel, there was a Spectrum cable outage and could not access any television for the entire night. We held our ceremony on the lawn and our intimate reception in Schepers' dining room, and the night was absolutely magical. In the early stages of planning, I believe Hotel Covington was acquired by Madison Events, so there was a bit of shuffling with employees including our point of contact a few times. However, they were always completely transparent and prompt to let us know when these changes were occurring, and eventually we ended up working with Zoe Mendenhall, who was absolutely amazing to work with. No matter how many ridiculous questions I could come up with, she always cheerfully answered them and responses to emails came within a day. She truly helped to keep me sane while planning a wedding from the other side of the country. The day of the wedding, we also worked with Patty and a few others that kept the day moving along perfectly. On top of incredible staff, the food was absolutely phenomenal. Several people told me that it was the best wedding food they had ever had, and it really was delicious. I wish I could have those chicken meatballs every day of my life! They were even able to make a few adjustments to specific items to fit our menu. Finally, the hotel amenities were beyond perfect for accommodating our guests. We easily set up a block, so many guests stayed for the weekend. The convenience of having the wedding, a restaurant, and guest rooms all in one building can't be beat for an eventful weekend (plus you can just delete the whole \"transportation\" portion of your wedding budget, lol).I could say so much more about Hotel Covington, but the main thing I want anyone reading this to know is that if you go with Hotel Covington for your wedding venue, you won't regret it. Meghan Thomas(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-02-2021 This venue was my fiancee's top choice. I contacted Hotel Covington through The Knot conversation in June 2019 for a February 2021 wedding. The representative I spoke with informed me that they do not book more than 18 months out, and to reach back out in a few months. While I appreciate time constraints, I prefer to plan ahead, and I only wanted to tour the venue to see if it was even something I would want. Regardless, I waited until the beginning of August 2019 and emailed again, as it is now 18 months. I did not hear back for a week, so I called and left a voicemail. I did not hear back for several days, so I emailed again. The rep emailed me back a few days later asking when I wanted to come. This was frustrating because now this process is taking even longer while we go back and forth, instead of the rep just telling me some time slots and allowing me to choose one. So, I had to email back and ask tour availability. I did not hear back for two days, so my fiancee called and left a voicemail. It has been a few days since then, and I still have not heard back. Professional courtesy is 48 hour turnaround. This does not bode well for planning the most important day of my life. If I hear back soon and am impressed by the tour, I may raise the stars. Kaitlin Ilnick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-03-2019 Hotel Covington was our wedding hotel and also where we had the rehearsal dinner. I have nothing but great things to say about the hotel and staff. The food and drinks were amazing the whole time we were there and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Our guests were so happy with the hotel. Couldn’t have asked for a better rehersal dinner location and gathering for all our friends and family. Reviewed on 04-04-2019
Sarah Tacy(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-02-2019 It's been a month and a half since our wedding, and we are still in shock by how incredible our experience was working with Hotel Covington. From beginning to end the experience was nothing less that fantastic. Planning process: We communicated with primarily Briana. Her E-mail signature says \"Conference Services Manager\" but it should really say \"Fairy Godmother\"! Briana was always quick to reply to E-mails, helped us stay within our budget, and met all our requests (And if they could not be met, she found the next best solution). She also ensured the day went smoothly- from overseeing the room flip, and even the little things- like storing our reception flowers and decorations in her office and taking our gifts to our hotel room at the end of the night. Ceremony and Reception: We only had 30 guests, so we opted for the Scheper room for our ceremony, cocktail hour downstairs (while the Scheper room was completely flipped), and our reception in the Scheper room as well. The long, family-style table was perfect, intimate and still allowed for room for dancing. Dinner was fantastic, easily the best food and drink I’ve ever had at a wedding. And the service, oh my - Sean and Josh worked our event and they were *flawless*. From ensuring food was stocked, special diets were accommodated, our husband and I always had a drink and they even helped clean up our personal decorations at the end and stored them for the night. Thank you to Sean and Josh- you are incredible at what you do. Misc: Our hotel rooms were all beautiful and different, the entire building is gorgeous- we didn’t even need to leave the Hotel for photos! They entire HC experience feels so tailored, local-proud and personal. They took our vision and made it reality! Thanks to the Hotel Cov team- you’re nailing the wedding biz in our opinion! Lisa C(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2018 We held our ceremony and reception at Hotel Covington. In one sentence, if I had to do it again, I would pick somewhere else. The first star I gave is for the hotel architecture and aesthetic, it is very beautiful. The second is for the day of banquet staff, they are incredibly nice. For the starts I omitted, the first is for the wedding coordinators. We had three different ones while trying to plan our wedding. That meant coming in three times and getting the details together and three times having to negotiate the details we had already nailed down with the previous. The biggest thing that I still can't wrap my mind around is the number of times they tried to nickel and dime us on the food and drink package. Here are just two of the many examples. They changed their menu drastically 6 months before our wedding and wanted us to pay more than $10/person more to have the same menu as before. 1 week before our wedding, yes 1 week, they asked if they could \"upgrade\" us (their words not mine) to a bar package that was word for word the bar package a tier below the one we were paying for. Literally my jaw dropped that they thought I was going believe the bud/well liquor package was an upgrade to the local craft premium package we were spending good money on. And lastly, we had coordinated with the wedding coordinator that we would set up the reception area (ballroom) at 8am the morning of our wedding. We got to the room to set up and it's clearly not ready, wrong number of tables, no tablecloths ect. We had to re-arrage our whole DAY OF schedule, the day of the wedding!! to set up after our hair and make-up. So that made the whole day rushed and not as it should have been. Silver lining was the banquet staff on site is incredibly nice and did what they could to help. Reviewed on 22-10-2018
Megan Freeman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-06-2018 We got a block of rooms at Hotel Covington for our wedding party and guests. We rented a suite to get ready in for the day of the wedding, and it was more than enough room. We had brunch set up in one of the private rooms for the day after the wedding, and the food was all so good! Our guests were very impressed with the nice accommodations. Reviewed on 26-06-2018
KAYLA CRITES(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2018 Hotel Covington was an excellent location for us to host all of our family and friends to stay for our wedding weekend. They were very accommodating for us and our large group. The common areas were great locations for all of our guests to socialize. The restaurant also had fabulous food and drinks. The rooms were absolutely fabulous and kept very clean. For my wedding I used one of suite rooms to get ready in with all my girls. It was the perfect size for my large bridal party of seven to get hair and make-up done. The courtyard was a beautiful location for our first look and wedding photos. We cannot thank Hotel Covington enough for their wonderful hospitality. Reviewed on 14-06-2018
Megan Schriefer(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-04-2018 I did not have my wedding or reception here (THANK GOD) but I did have a room block reservation. Most of our 250 guests are local and/or have close family that is local so we went very conservative with our room block guesstimate and only reserved 15 rooms. With that said, it was an ABSOLUTE nightmare!!!They strictly enforce a 80% fill rate of your guess and if you don't fill those rooms, you're charged for them... and while I've heard that is extremely rare, I get it. You're not allowing them to fill those rooms with the outside public. What they don't make clear and what I don't understand is that they cut off the date a full month before your event, take the rooms away, and STILL charge you. If you're already being charged for the rooms, why do they release the rooms? You paid for those rooms. I ended up having to put the excess rooms in to my name and casually ask over 200 different guests if they were planning on getting a room and if so, could they make sure to tell the hotel to take them from my name directly. As if I don't have enough to do in the last 30 days before my wedding than to manage hotel reservations!!!On top of that, they were going to charge an arm and a leg to hand out a couple welcome bags. This place couldn't be LESS accommodating and troublesome to deal with. I really wish I would have gone somewhere else that was more professional and easy to work with. Their policy makes absolutely no sense. It's very disappointing because the ambiance is great. It's a beautiful hotel. The restaurant is cool. But I will NEVER be going back here and will be sure to tell everyone what a horrendous and frustrating experience this is/was. Reviewed on 08-03-2018
Thomas Millas(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-01-2018 Where do we start - everything was absolutely perfect for our wedding! We got married in early January 2018 and had our reception at the hotel (restaurant/first floor buy-out), and we had about 50 guests stay in the rooms throughout the weekend as well. Olga and Amanda were the best event managers we could have asked for - they worked with us every step of the way, went above and beyond with their level of service the whole week of the wedding, and even had some suggestions to make our day even more special. During the wedding day, the hotel staff was professional and delivered everything exactly as we wanted, and Dominique the catering manager checked in on us often to make sure everything was to our liking. The team even took our gifts up to our room and securely put the guest cards/checks into our suite's safe. In addition, our bridal suite was beautiful. We can't say enough good things about Hotel Covington - between the staff, the amazing decor and the fantastic food and guest experience, we're still raving! We'll be back soon to eat at Coppin's again. - Stacie and Tom Reviewed on 24-01-2018
Dani Gillium(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-09-2017 The rooms at the hotel are beautiful and we were able to use the outdoor patio to visit with family and friends. The room block we had in place worked well but it was difficult to find the appropriate person to talk to as they have three staff members handling various aspects of the hotel and the room blocks are assigned to other staff members. We also had brunch there and the staff accommodated us without a reservation which was nice. Reviewed on 30-09-2017
Jen Chung(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-08-2017 We had our wedding at Hotel Covington several weeks ago. We couldn't have been more grateful to be environed by so much love in a beautiful setting with our friends and family. The only sour note from our joyous day was the theft of the gift box of cards from our guests. The card box was stolen from our hotel room sometime after we had left the hotel (through the lobby) to continue the night's festivities across the street. I am VERY disappointed with the way in which the hotel dealt with the theft and I am hesitant now to recommend Hotel Covington for any occasion. The lack of forthrightness and graciousness is upsetting and surprising, to say the least. Their lack of transparency with information, requesting a warrant to hand over video footage to the detective, and not having cameras on the floors are a few of the issues we came across. There was no genuine apology or empathy from the hotel coordinator, along with no qualms about charging any additional fees -- despite my asking them to wait until we hear back from the detective. I also was surprised that the management did not offer any gestures of compensation (a partial refund, free hotel stay, or brunch even), despite the exorbitant amount of money we spent to have our wedding at this hotel. We hope the truth will reveal itself soon. In the meantime, remember to safeguard your possessions in this or any hotel, even on the most joyous of occasions. Reviewed on 10-09-2017
Marion Compton(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-01-2017 We used the Hotel Covington as our hotel for the wedding block due to it's proximity to the Madison Event Center and to Mother of God Catholic Church. Although the hotel is new, we were very happy with the service we were given, including things like bringing up extra chairs for the bridal suite, getting us champagne flutes, and leaving us fresh baked cookies at check-in. The only snafu was that I was able to hear loud music from my room until 4 or 5am on my wedding night. I did not call the hotel staff because I couldn't tell for sure if it was coming from within the hotel, but in the morning they offered that all of the bridal suites are stacked on top of each other and I likely was hearing noise from another bridal party. Had I known that, I would likely have requested a suite that was not as close to other bridal parties. Of note, on my wedding day in January, the off season, the hotel had 4 other wedding blocks there that weekend so I would expect the potential for more if you're getting married during peak season. We would book there again and likely will for an anniversary in the future. Reviewed on 24-03-2017
