Houmas House is truly an amazing place to visit.We got married there this past Saturday but we have loved it before the big day. We have come here since 2005 and I'm very impressed with the staff and the owner (Kevin) on how he keeps the place so clean and beautiful at all times. Rain or shine Houmas house will never disappoint you!Janine the wedding coordinator and a one woman show is truly amazing. She has gone above and beyond to make the wedding perfect.The chef Jeremy is absolutely amazing hands down! And Chad the Landscaper is an artist with his landscaping. The rooms are clean and you feel like royalty. They treat their guests with kindness and respect.

This location is magically and exactly what we were looking for to host our local and out of town guests for our wedding weekend! The ease of hosting all wedding events on the same property help planning so much easier. The gardens and venues are spectacular and the photos from our weekend speak to the amazing team at Houmas House. The food is amazing and the staff made sure everything was perfect.

Houmas house is a dream. There are so many different options for your ceremony and reception that you can really make it your own. The spaces, the food, the grounds, the birds, the staff, all of it was perfect. Janine is WONDERFUL to work with. She made the entire process as stress free as it could be. She and my day of coordinator, Allie Wester (weddings by Allie) have done a lot of weddings together so the combo of the two of them was such a huge help. We were sad to leave the next day and can't wait to return.

Houmas House is such a beautiful place! We had our ceremony and reception here and they have weddings down to a science. Janine is lovely to work with and knows the timeline of events by heart. The grounds are so well kept that there isn't a bad place to take a photo. Their food at the reception was fabulous! Houmas House really takes care of you and has great hospitality along with a gorgeous setting.

Could not say enough great things about Houmas House Plantation! The venue is spectacular and beautiful! The wedding coordinator, Janine, is so helpful and pleasant to work with and made sure to help answer all of our questions during the wedding planning process as well as make sure our special day went smoothly and without any issues. The food is absolutely amazing and we got so many compliments on it. All of our guests had such an amazing time and we truly got the wedding of our dreams! The price per person of this venue is not cheap but I think it is definitely reasonable and you get your money's worth! Highly recommend to other couples looking for a magnificent venue!

Houmas House was a perfect venue to get married at. Janine, the wedding coordinator at Houmas House, is amazing and makes everything simple and easy-going the day of. She is so good at communicating and making sure everything is in line before the big day. I planned on getting married in front of the plantation, but it stormed that morning. Janine and Houmas House staff changed plans and rearranged my ceremony to where I could still have it outside but make it comfortable for our guests. I could not have asked for a better or more beautiful venue for my ceremony and reception!

This place is simply amazing! As soon as you pull up the drive it’s breath taking! Our guest could not stop talking about how beautiful the gardens were. We had our reception in the Neptune ball room. I was worried about space, this ball room was way bigger then I could imagine! The staff was helpful and very polite! The food was beyond amazing! Once again our guest could not stop talking about the food! I’m one of those people that has lots of little details and questions everything, Janine went above and beyond in answering all my questions and assuring me everything would go along perfectly. She did become MIA on the day if I only talked to her once while I was there and that’s when she half greeted me, I guess she didn’t know I was the groom, the only other time she talked to me was to ask a random question. Didn’t come of as welcoming as she did in emails. Sadly I didn’t get much time to explore the plantation but knowing that all my guest had a great time and found the venue breath taking is all that matter!

You will fall in love with every inch of this place. You will also want to go back every time you look at your photos! We had our ceremony on the stairs of the house just before sunset and it was absolutely stunning. Our guests loved all the food, the crawfish curry soup that is served as the guest walk through the house to the pavilion, was a huge hit, they also loved the tour, there are so many unique touches that really reeled us in. The owner Kevin is the best! We love him!

Stunning! Houmas House was definitely our dream venue, and it far exceeded our expectations. Janine (the coordinator) was wonderful during the whole process. Our guests were so impressed with everything and we're still receiving compliments about a month after the wedding! The value for the money is definitely worth it. The food is exceptional, and you can't beat the premium bar for the price. It was worth every penny and we'll remember every detail for the rest of our lives!

Houmas house was the best venue my husband and I could have chosen for our big day. From the moment we toured the location, the people there were helpful and nice. They were very accommodating when I got my bridals done on the property. On the big day, every individual went above and beyond to make sure everything went as smoothly and perfectly as possible. The food was incredible and they made 2 full to-go plates for my husband and I just in case we didn't get to eat. The price was extremely reasonable and we got everything we asked for. I love the staff and the owner and I can't thank them enough for making sure our big day was truly special.

Houmas House is an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue location year round. The grounds are immaculate, and the reception space is updated, clean, and beautiful. We held our wedding ceremony under the Burnside Oak in March, and it was perfect. People have not stopped talking about the venue, and I am so glad we chose it. The pricing is inclusive and turn-key, and everything provided was top notch.

Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better place to hold my wedding. We figured they were wedding pros! We weren't worried about them handling their end of the agreement. Here were the few bumps along the way: You don't get to taste all of the food options at the food tasting, so you're blindly choosing food if you don't like what they have available for you to taste. In our paperwork, we had decided that there would be 22 tables with 9 chairs each. At the wedding, there were not 9 chairs at each table, and this became apparent when all of our bridal party and dates could not fit at the reserved tables. They had to bring out more chairs. The food was not replenished at the reception fast enough. And we had asked to use their cake cutting set, and it was no where to be found during cake cutting time, and neither was the wedding coordinator, so we couldn't ask her to get them for us! Like I said, overall it was a great experience and I'm glad we had our wedding here, but you would think they would be better at the little things.

My husband and I got married in June 2014 at Houmas House. We had our ceremony on the front steps and reception in the Neptune Ballroom. I was impressed by the service we received overall and especially from the wedding liaison who helped us work out every little detail and answered all of our questions via email and phone promptly. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and our pictures turned out beautifully. For Houmas House brides, there is no fee to take bridal portraits on the grounds and you can also use the dressing room to get ready. We had our rehearsal dinner in the library, which was very intimate and cozy. The bridal party and many of our guests stayed overnight at the Inn on-site and the accommodations were luxurious and very clean. Our wedding day went flawlessly, thanks to our collaboration with the wedding liaison months in advance. I really appreciated that HH has golf carts with drivers available to help you haul your things to the reception venue and also to shuttle elderly or disabled guests around the grounds. The only complaint we can think of is that we wish we could've had a longer reception.

HH was recommended by my husbands father. We were whisked away with the owner, Kevin, in his golfcart to tour the property and he painted a wonderful picture of the wedding day. Many small touches make this venue a great choice for a seamless day, with lots of southern charm. We were married under the trees - a great choice for photos! They never hesitated to graciously answer questions and all their paperwork makes the day very organized. However, we chose the smaller reception hall - the Neptune Room - and the 5pm timeslot. We had very little time to use the grounds for photos after the ceremony, and our coordinator felt our wedding was understaffed. We felt throughout the process that since our venue was smaller of the two options, it was a \"stepchild\" treatment, including where the girls got ready - so try to reserve a cottage for prepping if you can. There isn't many room for change, so if you want lots of flexibility in a venue, this might not be the place for you.

Everything was just as I had imagined, Houmas House is a gorgeous venue for an outdoor ceremony. We had the ceremony in the front lawn under the oaks and the reception in the Pavilion. Multiple guests commented afterwards it was one of the most beautiful weddings they had ever been to. Food is awesome - guests continually commented on that throughout the night and after. They just have it all down to a science so that everything goes smoothly throughout the entire time. Day of wedding planner is awesome and great to work with - highly recommend!!

We had the perfect wedding at Houmas House Plantation! Though the price is a little higher than other venues, it includes almost everything you need in the price- catering, full bar, tables, chairs, linens, and even a wedding coordinator. You also don't need to spend a lot of money on decorations or flowers- the venue is so beautiful by itself! I would highly recommend Houmas House to any bride looking for a beautiful wedding that your guests will rave about for years. :)

I happened upon Houmas House plantation while on my way to see another. I was mesmerized. The grounds are unique and beautiful. After the tour of the grounds, I knew I had found the place. The staff was always going above and beyond for us and helped to create a one-of-a-kind experience for our wedding weekend for a large wedding. With the help of Houmas House, we were able to host an experience of a lifetime for our guests and gained great friends in the process. I whole-heartedly reccomend Houmas House for anyone who is looking for a gorgeous, memorable experience for both themselves and their guests.

The staff there is absolutely AMAZING!! They are so willing to work the bride and other vendors. They are all so sweet and kind, always giving a prompt response to every question. The staff is very professional and extremely polite and creative. The plantation itself is absolutely stunning!! I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding! The food was TO DIE FOR!! Every item was absolutely delicious!! I had so many compliments on the delicious food and surprisingly the coffee was really good too. Who knew? This place is the absolute BEST place to have a wedding all the way around! People are still calling it a \"Royal Wedding\".

Working with Caity of Houmas House was easy and efficient from the very beginning. She is highly qualified, very organized and exceptional at what she does! She's very personable and upbeat! The grounds, the house, the Neptune Ballroom, The Turtle Bar are all exceptional! No comparison. Our wedding was in December and STILL the gardens were breathtaking. Mr. Kelly knows how to create and maintain his gardens. Still floating... Had so many compliments on our venue. Thank you Houmas House!

Houmas House is a beautiful property with multiple venue options. I chose to have my wedding on the porch with the reception in the Pavilion. We also held our rehearsal dinner in Neptune's Ballroom. The staff is excellent and accommodating for all your needs. The food was wonderful! Our favorites were the stuffed lobster, spicy gulf shrimp, crab cake canapes, beef wellington, and bread pudding!

The plantation, the grounds, ceremony, etc... were beautiful. It was everything that I had imagined it would be. They apparently have a new coordinator, while very nice, she didn't make the day as easy as it should have been. For example, I was not told where I should go when I arrived so I had to carry all my things across the property. Then, after being told to go ahead and let the guests order the appetizers, I walked into the Library to find that most of guests were still waiting on their drink order to be taken. This was because they only allotted for one waitress for 32 people. Once my cousin and dad got a hold of them, and we had an extra waitress, things went a much smoother. \rHoumas House clearly knows what they are doing. The are professionals. I just wasn't impressed for what I was told would happen on my special day. ALSO, I gave the coordinator our programs for the wedding ceremony, only they were placed in the Library (where we were having our dinner) next to the wedding cake.

My guests were ASTOUNDED by how beautiful this place is. The event planning professionals are absolutely incredible (especially Cecily!). The food is the best I've ever had, and coming from a native southern Louisianan, that's saying something. Fantastic to work with, and made sure my wedding came off without a single hitch. Total perfection.

What can I say? Houmas House is absolutely beautiful and having the ceremony on the front lawn is a the perfect venue. On top of that, Caity and Cecily (the coordinators) are on top of everything - super responsive and wonderful to work with. We had a few special requests (no beer bottles, sparkling water available) and they handled everything beautifully. We had a hitch on the wedding day with our transportation (we bussed in most of our guests from N.O.) and the buses were an hour late! The fantastic staff at HH did an amazing job with shifting everything back - including our sit-down dinner service - and everything was smooth sailing once the guests arrived. It's pretty expensive but you will not regret it!!!

I had my wedding at Houmas House on 4/21/12. It was a great experience! Kevin, Cecily, and Caity were all wonderful to work with and did everything in their power to make our wedding perfect and unique to us. The onsite catering is amazing! All my guests loved the food. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and they even offer a tour of the house to interested guests. I especially loved being able to get ready onsite, in the bridal cottage, which is set up for a full salon. It saved me worrying about messing up my hair and dress on the limo ride out there. I highly recommend Houmas House!

I took my bridal portraits at Houmas House and the venue is absolutely breathtaking. The fee to use the grounds was $160, but we didn't realize that it actually cost us a lot more than the grounds fee! Brides are given access to a changing room in the very back of the pavilion where receptions are held. This area is not open to property tours, and the changing room is not in an obvious location in the building. Like any other bride, I didnt think twice about leaving my purse in the room - after all, it was off limits and there wasn't even a lock on the door! We paid really good money - surley ther are cameras on the property and our things will be fine. We intentionally pulled the lock-less door closed and took the pictures. Not thinking anything, we left, only to realize on the drive home that over $80 in cash was missing from my mom's wallet. We double and triple checked, but the money was gone. We called to notify the owner of the property- just to let him know what happened, only to have him respond sarcastically and tell us that he couldn't believe that anyone would ever leave their belongings unattended! He said we should have carried our belongings with us during the photo shoot, or put them back in the car so they were sure to be safe. His reaction to our call to notify him of a theft of a bride on the property that he owns AND lives on was that it was our fault and that this type of thing doesnt happen on his property. He yelled at both me and my mom for making false accusations and only offered an apology for the theft in a sarcastic manner. A lot of brides use Houmas House for pictures and other bridal events so to have the owner treat paying clients like we were treated is unacceptable! I will never use Houmas House and would never recommend it to anyone because of the way we were treated. Weddings are stressful enough for a bride to have to deal with being yelled at by a venue owner because she was robbed! The owner is unprofessional and is apparently unappreciative of his clients' business. If you do business with Homas House, don't leave ANYTHING unattended... It might cost you more than you anticipated! And it will be your fault you got robbed!

Houmas House is simply the TOP choice for Louisiana wedding venues. Not only is the staff impeccable, but the venue itself is out of this world! The owner takes great pride in making this establishment top notch! Their planning is precise, their food is every bit of delicious and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. Our guests were over the top impressed with our wedding!

The owner, Kevin, gives a great bridal tour. He said that March was the best month to have a wedding here. We had our wedding March 26th and he was right. All of the flowers were blooming and we were told it wouldn't look like it did in another week. Cecily was amazing! She is very professional and takes care of everything to do with the venue. It is expensive, but worth every penny!

We fell in love with Houmas House in Darrow, LA when we first arrived. The grounds were goregous. While there are many venues to choose from, we choose outside at the tea house on the blue bridge.(modeled after Monet's famous painting) It was a peaceful and intimate experience. After the ceremony, we dined in the main house. The food was unbelievable and the staff was prompt and courteous.
