Having our wedding at IH was the best decision we made! Besides the fact that the venue grounds is beautiful, the food is fantastic and the coordinators were there on the day of to handle everything. We got to enjoy our wedding without a worry and all of our guests are still raving! I wish we could get married again because it was so perfect!

I had my wedding here on 8/18/23. Independence Harbor was and is the best venue to have your ceremony and reception. From start to finish, both Anne, Connie and Team were there to help us through every step. From the amazing gorgeous grounds, to the organization, to the setup I was amazed at everything. Independence Harbor made my vision come to life, if not better, than what I imagined my wedding to be. If I could do my wedding all over again I would do it with Independence Harbor. You will not regret your decision by going with them. Highly recommend.

I had my wedding here on 8/18/23. Independence Harbor was and is the best venue to have your ceremony and reception. From start to finish, both Anne, Connie and Team were there to help us through every step. From the amazing gorgeous grounds, to the organization, to the setup I was amazed at everything. Independence Harbor made my vision come to life, if not better, than what I imagined my wedding to be. If I could do my wedding all over again I would do it with Independence Harbor. You will not regret your decision by going with them. Highly recommend.

My husband and I got married at Independence Harbor last Saturday (7/29/23), and the entire day was truly a dream.We didn't meet Matt, the day of wedding venue coordinator, until the rehearsal, and when we did, we were instantly put at ease over any stress. (Including the possibility of rain) He was honestly the best, extremely professional, and helped make sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish.Jocelyn was another coordinator for the day of the wedding, and she was really so wonderful as well. She collaborated with us, our photographer, and our dj to constantly make sure everything was on schedule.I really can't speak enough of the professionalism and kindness of these two, as well as the rest of the staff. They were always 10 steps ahead and took care of everything so that we could be fully present and enjoy our day.The grounds, the food, the bar, the space - every element of this venue exceeded our expectations. Independence Harbor is a hidden gem. Don't sleep on this amazing venue!Our guests keep reaching out to tell us how they had the absolute best time.I think a lot of the photos on IH's website and social media don't fully do it justice. My husband and I got married at Independence Harbor last Saturday (7/29/23), and the entire day was truly a dream.We didn't meet Matt, the day of wedding venue coordinator, until the rehearsal, and when we did, we were instantly put at ease over any stress. I would highly recommend Independence Harbor as a venue to get married at. It is a beautiful venue full of colorful flowers and neatly kept garden beds. The ballroom is spacious yet cozy with a large dance floor. All of the staff are very professional and attentive. When preparing for my wedding, both Connie and Anne were super knowledgeable and answered all of my questions with kindness. During my wedding, Matt and Jocelyn were very supportive and communicative! The food tasted delicious and it was so much fun!

I would highly recommend Independence Harbor as a venue to get married at. It is a beautiful venue full of colorful flowers and neatly kept garden beds. WOW, I cannot say enough amazing things about my wedding at the beautiful grounds of Independence Harbor. It was on 6/18/23 and throughout the planning process I worked with Connie & Anne who were both wonderful, professional, and answered my many questions promptly. We had a wonderful experience with Independence Harbor from our first visit to the big day! The staff were so helpful and answered all of our questions quickly. The room looked beautiful and the outdoor grounds looked incredible! The food was great and they put a lot of work into setting up a beautiful fruit/cheese display. We offered the ice cream bar as our dessert and it was a big hit with our guests. The staff who worked at the reception were friendly, helpful and attentive. We are so happy with our decision to select IH for our reception.

Independence Harbor has absolutely beautiful grounds, and the food is outstanding. The wait staff and one of the day of coordinators were also extremely nice and welcoming. Unfortunately, in my experience the management of this venue, Connie, Anne and Matt made the process extremely stressful. If you have a vision of what you want for your day, you will be met with a healthy amount of push back. They have a very specific way of doing things and can be extremely inflexible and rigid In terms of how they want the day to go. At times, I felt bullied by this venue and I was so incredibly thankful that I hired my own day of coordinator who truly cared about me and my husband’s day. It was extremely clear that management was unhappy with some of the things I had requested and I felt very uncomfortable interacting with them. I had wanted to have our rehearsal the day before the wedding as I had family out of state and a bridal party of over 20 people that needed to know what to do. After many back and forth emails we were able toCompromise on the day before in the afternoon. They additionally told me that myself as the bride could not arrive for my 5pm ceremony until 4:30pm along with the guests and I would have to change on site as well. The day before Matt informed us I could get there at 4:15 after I had already confirmed with the bus driver what timeI needed to be there. Now in real life 15 min is not a big deal, but for a wedding that is planned down to the 5 minutes this was a frustrating change that would have been better if Connie had informed me of this instead of telling me 4:30 and not a minuteEarlier every time I spoke to her. I had hired a DJ for the entire day and they would not allow him to play cocktail hour music despite this being something I had indicated in my wedding packet for them that I had hired my DJ for the entire day. The day of the rehearsal and wedding it was also extremely clear that Matt did not care for or have time for the day of coordinator that I hired myself. I also ran into a few vendors that have this venue on their do not work with list. It’s truly a shame bc the grounds are amazing, the food was also extremely good. I’m just thankful for my day of coordinator Angel and my photographer Paul for helping to keep my day on track and make it everything my husband and I dreamed. Unfortunately if we could go back in time we would not have chosen this venue.

I put a deposit down for my wedding 1,000 which was 1/9/2021, due to the pandemic independence Harbor was not open. I did not want to change my date as the date meant a lot to me. The only option they gave me was to push my date which wasn’t an option for us. We emailed and kept very close contact with both Connie (who is rude) and Anne during the entire time. We also continued paying. Once it was 2 months before our wedding we asked for a full refund they did give us a portion of our money, but wouldn’t give us our 1,000 back and their reasoning was they were answering emails and phones calls!? That is not what I paid 1000 nor is that what the contracted said I was paying for! The fact that they were not even open all of our money should have been returned since they couldn’t host my wedding! Very unprofessional considering they cannot keep to the original contract on their end which is to have and host my wedding on 1/9/201. I even asked for a credit in place of 1000 for a future event or brunch and the said no. Will never recommend them to anyone! Handled business very poorly during a pandemic!!!!!

I would stay away from Independence Harbor for any events that are special or important to you. The grounds are beautiful and the venue is gorgeous but the service is horrible. The staff makes you feel like you and your wedding matter and will say anything to get you to sign a contract. However, as soon as you give them a nonrefundable downpayment, their attitudes change. They no longer cater to your wishes and become very strict with every aspect of what's supposed to be YOUR day. We never had any real problems with Anne; she just seemed a little snooty. Connie on the other hand, was rude and constantly made snide remarks. She always had her hand out for our money but never wanted to help us with anything. We had heard horror stories from our friends, family, and even our vendors regarding the owner Matt but we didn't meet him until our rehearsal. At the rehearsal, he rushed us through everything and basically shoved us out the door feeling as if we were still completely confused and unprepared for our big day. Him and Connie both tried telling me who was walking in what order and who was standing where in MY wedding party and I literally had a back and forth of yes, no, yes, no, yes, no with Connie who was adamant about it. In the end, I obviously made sure it was what I wanted but it never made sense to me why they cared so much. Matt was a little more pleasant on the day of but it still felt like he was rushing us constantly and it added stress to the day. Guests complained because they didnt make enough horderves and my groom and I also weren't able to get any. We never even saw the dessert table because as our guests informed us, they put it out for 20 min and took everything away before dinner was even served. Why did we pay for this stuff if we couldn't even enjoy it? Then, I left my table to use the bathroom and I came back to find that they threw my dinner away after only taking 3 bites of it. They also told us that they would pack up our decorations for us and have them ready to go at the end of the night but we ended up having to help them. The boxes that the staff packed were just thrown together and things got broken. They were very careless with our stuff. Lastly, when were leaving, the cop they had on duty followed us all to the parking lot and stared us down as the last of guests took off. He made us very uncomfortable. Not one person at this wedding got out of line or was unruly or anything so to baby sit us like children was disgusting. My husband still went up to shake the cops hand and said \"thank you so much for everything man! Have a good night!\" And the cop smacked his hand away and said \"yeah, yeah get outta here. Get going\". I found that to be extremely disrespectful. We honored their wishes by leaving BEFORE the deadline, everyone handled their alcohol well, and for the amount of money we paid these people...I am just appalled by their attitudes and behavior. I saw all these great reviews and figured \"oh well the negative ones are probably just people who behaved poorly and the venue didn't stand for it\". So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and listened only to the positive reviews. It upsets me that I now have to be one of those writing a negative review. We had an amazing time at our wedding and we will remember it for the rest of our lives. All of our vendors were amazing and helped make our day special but I just wish we chose a different venue. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Seriously.

I would stay away from Independence Harbor for any events that are special or important to you. The grounds are beautiful and the venue is gorgeous but the service is horrible. We couldn’t have possibly asked for a more perfect wedding venue than Independence Harbor. Not only was the property GORGEOUS in every way imaginable, but the staff was kind and helpful from day one. They were very responsive to emails and always willing to get on a phone call to discuss things in more detail. We planned our wedding from California which was stressful in itself, but they were very accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process. We walked through every detail together to make sure everything was just the way we envisioned it and they gave us timelines and worksheets so we knew what we should be working on and when. We recommend this venue to everyone and highly suggest you take the time to go visit it! The pictures are absolutely gorgeous but trust me, seeing it in person exceeds anything you can imagine.

We recommend this venue to everyone and highly suggest you take the time to go visit it! The pictures are absolutely gorgeous but trust me, seeing it in person exceeds anything you can imagine.

My bride and myself would rate IH on a scale of 1 to 10 about a 14. A lot of work went on in the background to make our special day into one of the best to remember for a long time to come. The staff went out of there way to take care of our needs and any and all the “extras” that the last minute things needed to be attended to. Being in the security field, I thought that the gazebo should have several cameras to catch the ceremony in its entirety because the people taking the video could not be every place at once. The last part is only a thought for others who would like to have their time remembered for another day to view their special day

We were blessed to find and host our wedding at Independence Harbor. Anne, Connie, Matt and Shannon as well as all of the Independence harbor staff were fantastic from day one of planning until our big day in July. Everyone was patient with our inquiries (no matter how many times we hay have asked the same question :)) and eager to make the day special for us. they were able to put us on track and guide us in the right direction as far as food, music and expense. The grounds were impeccably groomed and our pictures (thanks to Dana Pierce Photography who we found through the folks at Independence harbor) came out beautiful. The groom is a landscaper by trade and he absolutely loved and appreciated the hard work they do to keep the venue looking pristine. The food was served hot and delicious to our 180 guests. The waitstaff was courteous and attentive to all.Not only have we received many, many compliments about the food and venue, but the number one question we receive is \"where did you find this hidden gem?\" \"Hidden gem\" is the perfect expression to describe Independence Harbor. Our guests were mainly from the heart of Boston and the Cape. Both areas have a lot of venues to choose from, but we are so happy we chose Independence Harbor. It had all we were looking for and was convenient for our guests with free on-site parking and it was easy to find off the highway. They also offer packages to choose from including discounted rates.Independence Harbor is a must see for couples planning their special day- they will be glad they did.Thanks to all at Independence Harbor for making our day more than we could have dreamed.

We are so fortunate to have made the best decision in selecting Independence Harbor as the venue for our wedding ceremony and reception last month. We have so many beautiful memories from the evening and have received so many compliments from our guests on the food (the Macaroni & Cheese Martini Bar was a huge hit with our guests), service, and surroundings (both the grounds and recently renovated facility are impeccably maintained). Equally as important, we couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism, courtesy, and organization of the IH team (throughout the year-long planning preceding the wedding, working with IH seemed to be the only aspect that was stress-free). Even in light of an emergency situation that occurred with one of our guests the evening of the wedding, the staff responded calmly and quickly to provide assistance, while still ensuring that the reception services continued for our other guests (in fact, many of our guests were not even aware that there was an emergency incident; fortunately, all turned out well for our guest). Our sincerest gratitude to Connie, Anne, Matt, and the staff of Independence Harbor for their roles in making our ceremony and reception a beautiful memory to look back on for the rest of our lives.

She also gave us coffee when we needed it and even packed up our leftovers so we could enjoy them later. October 28 was the best day of my life and independence harbor made that happen.

Our son and new daughter-in-law chose Independence Harbor as their wedding venue this past Saturday and the service, food, landscaping and just everything were definitely on the 'high-end' side of things. The interior was pristine, the ladies' room was clean and shiny and decorated with a fresh flower arrangement, the bar area was private and glowing and the entrance area with the place-card table was decorated with fresh flowers as well. I used to have a wedding cake business and I loved the extremely large cake table which allowed for a reflection of the cake in all the photos. Stunning! There was a separate table for the gifts, guest book and gift (envelope) box. I did not see the hors d'oeuvres table but guests told me about the beautiful setting and the vegetables carved into flowers - gorgeous! - the wedding party's hors d'oeuvres were delivered outside on our own tray as we awaited our photo ops. We had 150 total guests and the dance floor was a perfect size and could have even held more. There was a raised area next to the dance floor for a DJ or live music. My favorite part of this whole experience was the feeling like I was the most important bride they've ever worked with. I know I'm not but they made me feel like I was the only bride they were dealing with that month. The week of our wedding, they happened to change the carpet and paint in the ballroom. It was done in 3 days and it looks absolutely incredible. I loved being the only bride on the property! They do not give out shots and they've very particular about things they do and do not allow. As long as you understand their reasoning, you will absolutely not be disappointed with going with them! They make sure that you are more than taken care of and they check with you throughout the night. They left us the tray of hors d'oeuvres that were left over when cocktail hour was over and we got to pick at them as the night went on. Our wedding last weekend was better than we could have imagined. Our family and friends haven’t stopped talking about the food, friendly service, and beauty of the venue! My husband and I are still on a high ourselves and over the moon with how well everything went! From the delicious food and perfectly placed decor, to a very old picture of my grandparents frame breaking and the venue fixing it on the spot, we cannot say enough positive things about our experience! I fell in love with this venue immediately, my husband who works a lot didn’t get to experience it until our wedding day. He too loved every second of the wedding and this amazing venue. We will be referring Independence Harbor to friends and family for years to come!

2 stars for the food.Very vendor unfriendly. Too many 'rules'. Some are understandable of course, but others are just ridiculous. Caused my ceremony to start late. Greeter at the gate was rude. Bartender seemed overwhelmed (120 people/open bar) They completely ruined my ceremony music which was supposed to be a surprise for my husband. It was actually pretty awkward. The person I dealt with was not at my wedding. I only met the coordinator at the rehearsal. I thought things were clear, but evidently not. The room is pretty but could use updating. I'm not comfortable recommending this venue to others.

A ton of friends and family members have commented on how beautiful the venue was and told us multiple times that it was one of the best weddings they have been to. Having our ceremony and reception at Independence Harbor was a true Fairy Tale and dream come true! We had our wedding in September 2017 -- the garden grounds were so stunning that we didn't even use any ceremony flowers. The staff is so incredibly helpful and wonderful throughout the entire planning process all the way through the wedding day. I had questions leading up to the big day and Connie set my mind at ease. The food is absolutely delicious -- our macaroni and cheese bar had a longer line than our open bar during cocktail hour! You can tell that putting on weddings and functions is what they do -- there was all the behind the scene work by there staff that made the day so seamless that I didn't have to question anything -- everyone just knew what to do and how to F L O W it all. The inside of the venue is beautiful and already partially decorated, very tastefully. Our decorations blended in and everything flowed together. To top it off, we even had 2 deer at our ceremony! I truly felt like Snow White -- talk about a Fairy Tale come true!! I highly recommend Independence Harbor. As a bride, they made me feel heard and respected, which I found amazing, as some vendors looked at us simply as a check. All those simple touches truly add up, I'm so so happy we used Independence Harbor for our wedding day!

The venue itself and ground is gorgeous! The food is great. I had a huge wedding party and felt like they didn't accept us all. As I was sitting in the limo waiting to get married and nervous I might add, I notice the coordinator talking to our limo driver as he shut the door to the limo and rolled his eyes. I am not sure what this meant, but this is 2017.....you will get all different types of a wedding party. Blame it on Pinterest. I don't find that acceptable even when my bridal party and my mother saw him roll his eyes. I get that i have a huge party, but we are paying you for a reason where we could have took our money else where. Other than that, this venue is great! Just strict.

My overall rating is 4 stars because there is always room for improvement. My husband and I got married at Independence Harbor in June 2016. The venue was gorgeous, weather was perfect & the ceremony was breathtaking! We chose the Baked Stuffed Scrod & Chicken Marsala. The scrod was perfect, chicken marsala not so much. It didn't look nor taste like a marsala sauce. Questions & planning leading up to my wedding were always with Anne & Connie. Not quite sure of their titles but it seems they are the two in the office behind the scenes. One of the two women could use a slight adjustment in her interpersonal skills. Don't get me wrong, she was not horrible but definitely a bit cold. I'm sure she has seen hundreds of weddings but being in this business I feel like she should act as if every wedding is a first for her. A bride wants to feel like her vendors are just as excited as she is. I didn't come close to feeling this vibe from this particular woman which slightly worried me throughout the planning process. On a positive note, Matt is the gentleman we had for a coordinator the day of our wedding. He was amazing! I cannot put into words how wonderful he is at what he does. I didn't have to worry about a thing! Everything ran smoothly & efficiently. He has such a great personality & made sure the day was all about my husband and me. Some of my guests have commented on how great he was! Matt's assistant was also wonderful & by my side ready to assist me with anything. I believe her name was Stephanie but I'm not certain. Overall the actual day was an amazing experience. I honestly would not change a thing. There will always be a hiccup but nothing that I would go back and change if I could. My husband and I are so pleased with our experience at Independence Harbor. We were looking for a venue that would simplify the wedding process for us – no renting tents, chairs, linens, etc. – and IH was the perfect choice. Their all-inclusive wedding package made it easy to select a menu that our guests have been raving about and their grounds lent a stunning backdrop to our wedding ceremony. \r\rAdmittedly, I am a very anxious person; however, I was reassured that IH was the venue for us on our first visit. All of the staff were buzzing about like busy bees preparing for a wedding that afternoon. The grounds were impeccably maintained, the tables were beautifully set, and Anne was prompt and ready to answer our questions. We had our wedding here in September of 2015 and it was perfection. We had our ceremony outside in the gardens. The landscape was beautiful and so quiet and serene. The weather being 68 and partly sunny made it even better. The ceremony time allotted was a half an hour which was the perfect amount of time for us. We also had our reception here. It is a classic new england style room with plenty of space and gorgeous windows. The attached porch was also perfect for the cocktail hour as well. We chose an open bar for the entire reception and there were all types and brands of alcohol available to guests. Our bar tab at the end of the night was expensive but this is what we had planned for and we wanted all of our guests to have a great time. The food was delicious, from the hors d'oeuvres to the main dish and then dessert. For the main dishes guests chose from either chicken francais or baked filet of sole. The dinner portions were large with mashed potatoes and veggies. For the dessert buffet we chose the cookie/pastry and coffee table. All of the people working who were assisting us were very friendly and accommodating. We felt extremely comfortable. Overall I would suggest this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful, classic, yet affordable wedding experience. I also would recommend having you wedding during the 11:00-4:30 time slot. We had our wedding here in September of 2015 and it was perfection. We had our ceremony outside in the gardens. The landscape was beautiful and so quiet and serene. The weather being 68 and partly sunny made it even better. The ceremony time allotted was a half an hour which was the perfect amount of time for us. We also had our reception here. It is a classic new england style room with plenty of space and gorgeous windows. The attached porch was also perfect for the cocktail hour as well. We chose an open bar for the entire reception and there were all types and brands of alcohol available to guests. Our bar tab at the end of the night was expensive but this is what we had planned for and we wanted all of our guests to have a great time. The food was delicious, from the hors d'oeuvres to the main dish and then dessert. I could not have found a better venue for our wedding for a similar price anywhere! Seriously, this place is GORGEOUS!\r\rMy husband and I planned our wedding from across the country, and Independence Harbor was great to work with. They are extremely organized and know exactly what they are doing, and are extremely responsive to questions whether they be by phone or email. Whenever we were in the area, they were happy to have us so we could ask more questions, see it one more time, etc. They understood how difficult it can be planning a wedding from so far away, and really tried to make things as easy as possible for me. Though they are very strict with things like timelines, they allowed me to be flexible where possible. Their experience with weddings shows in everything they do!\r\rDon’t be scared if you go to a food tasting and are not impressed. Because they do their tastings in a Sunday brunch once a month, you do not get to try your exact meal choice for the wedding (though they are willing to work with specific requests if possible!). I went to the tasting with my soon-to-be in laws only, as my husband couldn’t make the trip, and all three of us were very underwhelmed by the food. I was very worried! However, the food on the wedding day was absolutely delicious! We served the Herb Crusted Beef Tenderloin and the Chicken Forrestiere, and got rave comments from our guests. I’ve never seen so many completely clean plates at a wedding! Everything tasted fabulous and was well presented. We were very impressed! Additionally, they abided by my request to not have green beans anywhere on any plates, as my husband despises green beans. Being an inexpensive (and seasonal for our wedding) vegetable, I was surprised at how easily they said “no problem!” and we didn’t see a single green bean the entire day!\r\rThe day-of attendants and staff were all excellent. They did their jobs, were there when you wanted and needed them, stayed out of the way when necessary, and I can honestly say that I loved working with them. So on top of everything, so attentive. They were perfect!\r\rOverall, I would absolutely 100% recommend Independence Harbor to people. If you are one of those brides where you must control or have your hand in everything, this may not be the place for you as they have a set timeline and plan for how to do things, but if you are like me and willing to accept their help and experience, you will LOVE this place. It honestly was one of the most gorgeous venues I’ve ever seen, and they did a fabulous job with our wedding. I can't say enough good things about Independence Harbor. The venue is beautiful; from the gorgeous gardens to the nicely appointed reception area. It is clean, up-to-date, and neutral enough that you can add your own touch with any color scheme you desire. \r\rConnie and Anne were great in the original planning. Matt and Dee were AMAZING as our day-of wedding coordinators. Just... wow! We had a little problem (every wedding will!) I didn't order enough boutonnieres. Matt just whipped up another one from the garden and PRESTO! we were set. \r\rThe wedding coordinators did a nice job of keeping us on track with the timeline. You will be amazed at how the time gets away from you. Everybody says that but it is SO TRUE! We were politely and gently prompted to move on to the next stage when it was time. Also, Dee served us (the bride and groom) our food and it was great because I actually ate a little bit. They also are sure to bring you the cocktails and appetizers your ordered for your cocktail hour, out to you while you're having your photos done. \r\rI highly recommend having the ceremony and reception at Independence Harbor. I have been to other weddings where the transition from ceremony site to the reception is very disjointed and the guests are just waiting forever. If you have your heart set on your church, of course, do it! But you can absolutely have a meaningful (and as spiritual as you prefer) ceremony. You rent the gorgeous garden and then personalize the whole ceremony to your own tastes. \r\rSpeaking of taste - all of our guests remarked on the great buffet. I had many people tell me that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Go for the Sunday brunch to sample the menu. There are plated options as well, but the buffet was more economical for us, and it also sped up the process. \r\rWhen it was time to go, everything was boxed up and ready to take with us. We were exhausted from the full day and just ready to go to bed. There was nothing undone or not thought of in advance. IH is an exceptional venue run by professionals. \r\rWe kept everything very simple in order to cut our costs. So my $9,000 is on the lower end and for 100 guests. There are ways to do it on a budget - and there are ways to take it to a very grand scale. Just talk with the Independence Harbor staff up front, be realistic with your budget and let them do the work for you. \r\rBottom line; I couldn't be happier with the result. Independence Harbor was an excellent venue.

Independence Harbor was AMAZING!!!! The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. They walk you through everything and are very willing to answer any questions you may have. The venue itself is beautiful. I can't tell you how many compliments we got on how beautiful inside and outside was (and our wedding was in JANUARY!) Everything is kept very clean inside and out all throughout the year. The food is also equally amazing! We chose the buffet selection number 1 and had plenty to choose from. We indulged and tried everything offered! It was simply delicious! We got out dream wedding for a fraction of the cost. IH is very affordable and works with almost every budget! This venue is definitely worth taking a look at! Anne, Connie, Matt and Martha are 4 of the best people in the wedding business! They know their stuff for sure! \rMy husband and I were ALREADY talking about having a vow renewal ceremony there every 5 years! Everyone just had such a blast including my husband and I. It truly is an awesome establishment! We indulged and tried everything offered! It was simply delicious! We got out dream wedding for a fraction of the cost. IH is very affordable and works with almost every budget! This venue is definitely worth taking a look at! Anne, Connie, Matt and Martha are 4 of the best people in the wedding business! They know their stuff for sure! \rMy husband and I were ALREADY talking about having a vow renewal ceremony there every 5 years! Everyone just had such a blast including my husband and I. It truly is an awesome establishment! They know how special this day is for you and will do anything to make sure everything goes as planned! \rThank you so much Independence Harbor for making our day perfect !

Independence Harbor is beautiful and the grounds are immaculate which is great for pictures. They also offer a fireside ceremony option which is perfect for a fall evening wedding. While it is a bit daunting when figuring out the budget, Independence Harbor is worth the money. They are thorough with the details and they tell you exactly what is and isnt included. They also run off season deals which is well worth taking advantage of. All the staff Anne, Connie, Brian and Martha are all easygoing and are there to help you every step of the way. Martha and Brian handle the rehearsal and cater to your every need at the wedding. It was wonderful to have a spare hand at every moment. It couldnt have been any easier or any nicer.

I chose IH because the grounds were absolutely beautiful, it's a private setting, and because my parents had their reception there as well. Every little request that I had, which was small and simple, were denied and came along with a rude response. Anne had the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. She caused me so much unneeded stress, anxiety, and brought me to tears on several occasions. This place is so demanding and unreasonable. I asked to have hashbrown potatoes instead of mashed (which were part of their menu) and after waiting 3 days for a response I was told no, it wasn't appropriate. How can they tell the bride what's appropriate for my own wedding?? When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told no, that she is paid to deal with brides herself. The only light at the end of the tunnel was one of the managers, Matt, who worked the night of the wedding. He was very friendly and was a pleasure to deal with. Overall, if I could do things over, I would NEVER have chosen IH for my wedding reception. If you go there....do yourself a favor and ask for Matt.

I used Independence Harbor for both my ceremony and my reception venue. The ceremony was beautiful, their grounds are meticulous and filled with flowers. The reception ran smoothly, food was really good. The only downfall is that they are very strict and have a lot of rules there. Also, it ended up raining later at night and many guests were enjoying the outdoor deck but it is uncovered. I think it would be a good idea if they put up some sort of awning. I had a wonderful wedding there and I am glad that I chose Independence Harbor!

I cannot say enough good things about my actual wedding at Independence Harbor! \r\rThe only deductions in my rating are for the sales team. The service/professionalism, etc, of the service team at the wedding was AMAZING and 5 stars. \r\rWe originally investigated the venue but didn't think that we wanted to invite more than 75 people (the min was 100 for the day we had in mind). Anne told us to look over the information, and she surprised us with two gift certificates for their monthly brunch. My husband and I went, and we fell in love with the food and the staff service! \r\rAs it turns out, Martha was our server for the brunch, and she ended up being the lead server for our brunch wedding. That woman is amazing, and kept me on track throughout the wedding. I had an idea of the wedding schedule I wanted, but theoretical vs. actual is a little fuzzy when you've never really hosted a wedding before and long lost relatives have you trapped in the corner. Not a problem! Martha and Matt (the manager during the wedding), were on top of their game, and they guided us effortlessly through the afternoon. \r\rAs a warning, some people might feel a little turned off by how \"uptight\" the sales women are at the brunch and through e-mail (mostly Connie). I promise that they do a good job - they are just very serious about their jobs. I will admit that I was very annoyed that they were showing the venue to potential customers during my wedding, and I would have liked to have been notified in advance. \r\rMaddie, the banquet manager, is great to work with and her right hand man, Matt, took over all of the duties on the day of the wedding and he knew EVERYTHING.\r\rThe food is amazing, and people love to tell me how wonderful the wedding was. You won't be disappointed!

I don't know if I caught them in a bad week, but the service with Independence was terrible! I've been there for brunch so I knew the food was good and the grounds pretty, so I started my venue tour with positive views. We immediately sat down at a table and went over questions and details about the place and a particular date we had in mind. Then our host stood up and thanked us for coming. I asked her about a tour and she opened her arms and said \"this is it!\". No walk-around offered and I had to ask to view the bridal suite. \r\rDespite the lack of tour (we walked around ourselves), we decided we liked the place and made an appt to put down a deposit. The problems started when I got an email copy of the contract the day before the contract signing and I noticed there was specific details in the contract that were very different from what we talked about during our meeting. There were two coordinators. One gave us the tour while the other handled the paperwork, but it seems there was miscommunication about some of the details we'd discussed between them. \r\rWhen we tried to clarify and asked that the terms we'd agreed on in the meeting be put in the contract, we were met with hostility (via email), beligerence and the venue flatly refused to honor anything they'd previously agreed to. Keep in mind that this is now the day of the contract signing and I'm completely confused and shocked by their responses to our request. I thought this was supposed to be an exciting time in a bride's journey! We'd chosen our venue and we're ready to put down a deposit, so I'm now bewildered and stressed out. After we got all the details and discussed the (new to us) terms they wanted us to sign with my fiancee, we decided to go ahead with them anyway. \r\rWe thought maybe by asking questions, we'd inadvertly insulted them somehow and that's why we were met with such hosility, so we sent them a final email saying that we were asking questions to clarify all the details before the contract signing and that we looked forward to working with them for our wedding. The response we got (seen via iphone while driving to our appt. to put down a deposit) was shockingly rude and stunning to everyone we show all the emails to. They basically told us not to bother coming in since we just wouldn't be happy with them and that they were cancelling our appt. (30 min before) and giving away our wedding date. Wow. \r\rIt's laughable now how terribly awful they were to us and we have a wedding horror tale we can joke about, but for a week after that, I had nightmares of being on a conveyer belt with other brides passing by their table. The coordinators have their hands out for money, a pen for the contract and a stamp they whap on every woman that reads \"bride\" as she rolls by. That's how these people made us feel, like we were on an assembly line, factory made plastic that they can line up and marry as fast as possible. \r\rSo there's my story. Total service failure in every way. I can't explain their behavior, nor will I try to justify it. I now have a venue I love working with and I hope no other bride goes through a similar horror story.

I highly recommend Independence Harbor to anyone who is looking for a beautiful place to get married and also at a great price! I had a 200+ person wedding and barely spent over 20k. Anne was awesome throughout the whole process. She was very professional and was able to answer my questions whenever I had one. Maddie was my coodinator the night of the wedding was unbelievable. She reassured me about everything even when it downpoured when I pulled up to IH. She watched the radar closely and saw a break in the clouds and decided to start the wedding early so I could get married outside. They wiped down the chairs so quickly! The portions are insanely large! Def the biggest piece of beef I've ever seen at any wedding. The food was delicious and everything was just perfect. The only thing I didn't like was their lack of flexibility about arrival time but at the same time I understand because of their day wedding. Overall, a great place!

We were considering this place for our wedding. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The ballroom is also beautiful. However, they were very unprofessional. We set up an appointment to meet and see the place. We showed up on-time and in the middle of a wedding taking place. The woman never said there was an event that day. I felt terrible for interrupting this families wedding day and wanted to apologize to the bride. Anne was not very friendly and did not even introduce herself to us. She proceeded to hand us a packet of papers and waited for us to read them rather than talking to us, getting to know us, and asking questions. So, I barged in on someone's wedding to be handed papers that could have simply been e-mailed. Then she asked us if we wanted to see the ballroom because the bride was outside. How sneaky and unprofessional! I would be so upset if the venue I was using was conducting business like that while my wedding was going on. After that we just wanted to get out of there and I felt extremely awkward. After reading other reviews about this place I am definitely not having my wedding here.

Independence Harbor is a great venue for an outdoor wedding. The grounds are amazing and meticulously maintained. The staff was great, particularly Connie and Anne with their communication and help prior to our wedding and the waitstaff during the wedding. While we were taking pictures during the cocktail hour, one of their staff was always close by with drinks and a appetizers. We had a beautiful day, got lots of complements on the food and found it to be a great value.

I planned my wedding from the other side of the country and they were so helpful in answering any questions as they arose. Although some reviews called them strict, none of their rules were unreasonable and it was all to maintain the beauty of the place. Which it was! The grounds were absolutely amazing and made for beautiful backdrops to our wedding photos. The room was decorated exactly as I had envisioned and requested. And our guests have not stopped raving about the food! We were able to feed A LOT of people for a very reasonable cost.

Even though I had my wedding in December, the grounds were still so beautiful! We had an indoor ceremony in front of the fireplace and the whole venue was decorated for Christmas. All of the staff were so helpful and attentive. I could not have asked for a better place to plan my wedding.

Loved the staff here they were accomodating and set up everything perfectly even when we had the max amount of people they could fit. Atmosphere is breath taking and simple. Food is amazing! Didn't like that we could not go in early to do the recieving line when other people has already arrived...so beginning was a little unorganized. But all in all very professional!!!
