The most gorgeous place for a wedding!!! - We were married in November of 2023 at Indiana Landmarks and have received nothing but compliments and praises about our venue selection. Indiana Landmarks Center provided a timeless backdrop to our fall wedding and the event spaces flowed perfectly together. We had our ceremony in the Grand Hall - which is just dreamy! Our cocktail hour and reception followed in the Boardroom and theatre spaces. Annie & Tara were amazing to work with during wedding planning and on wedding day! They worked very well with all of our vendors to ensure our day was amazing! If you are looking for a timeless, beautiful, and elegant wedding venue - THIS IS IT!!!! Reviewed on 15-01-2024

I can't say enough good things about having our wedding reception at Indiana Landmarks - Cook Theater! Tara, Annie, and the team were beyond kind, communicative, professional, and accommodating every step of the way. As a nervous bride, they made me feel so at ease with everything. 10000/10 recommend having your event here! Reviewed on 05-12-2023

We had ~170 people at our Indian / American wedding ceremony and reception at Indiana Landmarks in October 2022. I cannot say enough good things about this venue! Our ceremonies took place in the Grand Hall, and our reception took place in the venue's Theater room. Both areas are GORGEOUS and really emulate the vintage / historic vibes we were going for. The historic architecture is gorgeous - from the high ceilings, organs, large chandelier, wooden balcony: it was everything and more! The theater area (reception) has 2 levels to it, and I'd say any wedding with over 125-150 people, you'll need to utilize the 2nd floor for additional seating and possibly the stage, but that worked out great for us because we put guests who didn't want to be around the loud music up top and they were happier. We were able to add a 360 video booth on the 2nd floor and bar, so they still felt included and could stand at the balcony to overlook the dance floor! Our reception utilized a combo of rectangular and circular tables, and had space for a large dance floor too. It was wonderful. Not only is the venue gorgeous, but it's right near downtown, ample parking, can take great photos around the beautiful architecture, supports Indianapolis historic conservation, and the staff is so friendly! Tara ended up snapping some photos of us from their office and mailed us a handwritten card with these pictures. It was so personalized, and made me appreciate this gem of a venue so much more! Kara Chinn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-09-2022 THIS VENUE WAS AMAZING! Venue coordinators were so helpful, the space was beautiful, and it was easy to have our ceremony and reception in this great space. They have prep rooms for both the girls and guys as well as allow access to the property of the historic home behind the main venue. The only thing I warn is that they partner with specific caterers and this can come at a decent price. This partnership makes things go smoothly and maintains a high standard but it’s not what everyone is looking for. I would recommend this place whole heartedly and would host another event here in a heartbeat! Not to mention it supports a great non-profit! Reviewed on 11-10-2022

We had our rehearsal dinner at the Morris Butler House, and we couldn't have asked for a better event. If our guest count for our wedding was smaller, we would have chosen the Morris Butler House for our big day. It is conveniently located in Indianapolis, parking is no issue, and the history behind this place is amazing. Everyone at our rehearsal dinner was in awe of the venue. Tara went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a memorable time. We were surprised and grateful by the accommodations that were offered to us. If you're not looking for another rustic or industrial wedding venue and want something truly unique and historic like we were looking for, you have to start your search with Indiana Landmarks Center. First of all the architecture is beautiful (great for pictures and unique). All the staff especially, Tara were amazing! So helpful throughout the whole process. Easily accessible for any questions! They made the day go very smoothly, helped with a timeline and made it easy for our vendors. Even in the time of Covid they updated as much as they could for any new updates (very much appreciated). It was a great venue that can hold a great amount of people and was comfortable and has a balcony which our guests loved as you have a bird's eye view. Beautiful outdoor photo spots with gorgeous doors and stain glass. And inside the chapel is gorgeous for pictures as wellAlso, extra bonus, loved that we were the the only wedding for the whole day for the whole place, that felt very special. I think for being downtown Indy, it was better pricing for venue and catering. Plus good parking! Great location for being close to Mass ave and down the street is a little park for more photo spots. Elloree Wolka(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-10-2020 I worked with Tara at Indiana Landmarks Center for my October 2020 wedding. We chose ILC for our ceremony and reception due to the fact that there are two separate main event spaces, The Grand Hall and Cook Theater, that we could use to our needs. ILC also had their own parking lot and an elevator to get to the second floor mezzanine which are both hard to come by in a downtown historic venue. When we had to postpone our original May wedding due to Covid, Tara was a pleasure to work with when searching for a new date. She was easily accessible by phone and email and was so flexible with us when our guest count was continuously changing with the government restrictions. Tara, Maureen and Alan were all present on our wedding day and we can’t thank them enough for their hard work in making a beautiful wedding happen during a pandemic! I would highly recommend ILC for events as the team is great to work with, and the space is just beautiful with so many options for fitting small to large groups of people safely. Tiffany Pierce(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-09-2020 My husband held our ceremony at The Morris Butler House, which is historic house that is part of Indiana Landmarks- directly behind the main building. It is a gorgeous, unique space that is perfect for an intimate ceremony or a small reception. You have outdoor or indoor options, which are both lovely. We held our ceremony inside to take full advantage of the historic house and all its uniqueness. My husband and I always knew we would have an intimate ceremony and we knew we wanted to have it at a place that felt different and special to us and The Morris Butler House was exactly that. It's so beautiful with wonderful photo opportunities. The main rooms are grand and there are bedrooms upstairs for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready. Given that we got married during the time of COVID there some hiccups but Tara, the events manager, was always happy to help. And really for such a strange time it couldn't have been any better. So if you are looking for an affordable, special, unique, and beautiful location for a smaller wedding we definitely recommend the Morris Butler House! Reviewed on 05-11-2020
Ashleigh Chestnut(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-09-2019 I stumbled across this venue after much searching. I was looking for a beautiful, elegant venue (although the reception area can definitely be turned into a rustic theme) that was not over the top expensive, and also did not require brides to sign with their one caterer option. This venue offered many caterers to choose from (I chose MBP and loved them also). A problem I ran into with other venues of not having a big enough ceremony area to fit my guest count (250 initially), Indiana Landmarks did not have this problem at all. The Grand Hall is very spacious and of course gorgeous and grand. They had a switch toward the end of my wedding planning with their event coordinator. I was nervous about this switch because Alyssa was awesome and always got back to my emails or phone calls which is more than I can say of most of my other vendors. However, Samantha who took her place did a phenomenal job. Leading up to the bid day, I did a final walkthrough with Samantha and my day of coordinator. Samantha was there during the rehearsal and was there the day of the wedding from start to clean up. Samantha always responded to every email and phone call in a timely manner. She did an awesome job and I even found out things that Alyssa did not previously tell me, such as I could display a couple of photos on the tv for guests to see and make my own signs directing guests to fit my theme instead of using theirs. I will say they are strict on items that can be used on the grounds, but I understand as this is a historical building. For example, I wanted to use sky lanterns during my send-off and because of the no open flame rule that was a no go. I adjusted and used glow sticks instead. We even received our deposit back (yay!) I have heard too many stories of venues coming up with various reasonings why they have to keep the bride and grooms’ deposit. This venue was an absolute dream and guests were in awe. It was everything I could have over hoped it would be. Reviewed on 06-11-2019
Jessica Mayfield(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-02-2019 We are so thankful that we found Indiana Landmarks! This is the most beautiful and affordable venue I've seen. Our ceremony was located in Grand Hall which looks like a beautiful theater and a church combined! The stained glass and custom lighting is stunning during any time of the day. Our favorite part of Grand Hall is the newly restored Pipe Organ! The pipes make a timeless, stunning backdrop. We didn't have to decorate the stage at all! They have a small table that we borrowed for our unity set and any other small details, they were happy to assist with. They have a room in which the bridal party can wait in. It's smaller so I wouldn't suggest getting ready here, but it was perfect to wait in while our guests were arriving. Our reception was held in the adjoining room, Cook Theater. You have to see it to appreciate how amazing it is! 2 stories, your guests can look over the balcony and watch people dancing below. The mezzanine upstairs was perfect for our photobooth, cocktail hour and just a nice quieter space for guests who needed to take a break. Downstairs, they have their own kitchen on site which was valuable to our caterer. They have a small room off to the side which hosted the bar and buffet line. We had our head table on the stage which was so much fun! We could look out and see all of our guests. Our venue site coordinator was always prompt in returning my emails and was VERY sweet and accommodating! Any time we had a meeting, she was always right there by the entry door waiting for our arrival. I could go on and on but the point is, I've coordinated many weddings in the past and I was so blessed to have come across this amazing venue for my own special day. Thanks to Sari, Alyssa and Alan for our perfect day!!! Reviewed on 24-02-2019

It is set in the old north side neighborhood of Indianapolis and the outside garden made for wonderful pictures. Amy Carter(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2018 The decision to get married at the Landmark Center was non-negotiable as my parents and grandparents were both married there when it was the church. I was worried about not having a wedding coordinator, but Sari made sure that everything went smooth, guests knew where to go, and assisted with the set up and tear down of everything. The grand hall is gorgeous and the restored organ was perfect. We used Chuck Goehring who the Landmark Center recommended for an organist. He also gets 5 stars. Lynsey Sell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-10-2016 Not enough good things to say about this venue. This was the last place that we looked at after a month of searching! We wanted a venue that was unique (not a reception hall), had stained glass, and brick. I'm not sure how it took us so long to find Landmarks. The space is gorgeous. We loved that we wouldn't have to worry too much about how many people RSVP-ed because the church and reception area work well for large and small groups. We also loved that there was free parking and that everything could be in the same location - and so close to downtown. Our cocktail hour was supposed to be outside, but the weather was drizzly so it was in the basement - which is an art gallery. It was great to have a backup plan that didn't involve using the reception space for the cocktail hour. The hall for the church is so beautiful around dusk with light coming in through the stained glass. The staff was easy to work with - very knowledgeable and helpful in answering our questions. The area surrounding the venue is also great for pictures - old, Victorian homes and tree-lined streets. We have heard nothing but compliments about the venue. Reviewed on 26-10-2016
Sandy McLaughlin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-08-2015 Let me preface this review by saying I did a LOT of research when it came to ceremony and reception venues. I knew I wanted a venue that was classic and historic, could house about 200+ guests for both ceremony and reception, in a convenient location that showcased the city I love. I looked at some of the more popular venues (i.e. Laurel Hall, the Lilly mansion, the Sanctuary on Penn, etc.) but nothing really \"spoke\" to me...plus, my heart was still set on a beautiful church wedding. \r\rI was losing hope that I could find everything I wanted, until I stumbled on an online comment to a venue I was looking at that mentioned the Indiana Landmarks Center. I had always passed it on my way to work downtown, thinking it was just a beautiful old church rather than an event space. At the time, the ILC was operating mostly on word of mouth and no advertising--it had been renovated by the Cook family just two or so years before I toured it with the on-site events coordinator. I was overwhelmed by its beauty inside and outside, from the gorgeous brick parking lot, to the lush outside patio, to the impressive chapel (with the original, refurbished pipe organ and Steinway piano!), the getting ready rooms and the gleaming theater/reception space. I couldn't believe that all were included at such a reasonable price! My fiance--also very picky--toured it and said he was impressed with my research. We booked it that day.\r\rOver the 13 months of my planning and engagement, the on-site coordinator was patient with all of my questions and requests, honored multiple tours with vendors, and even helped me with some of the planning. Staff members were always pleasant, professional and went above and beyond (so I never worried about the day). \r\rWe just had our wedding and reception there this past weekend and it was perfect. All of our guests kept commenting on how impressed they were with the venue. There was ample parking, lots of room for guests to mill about, and the vendor arrangement was seamless with the help of Lorna.\r\rI couldn't imagine a better venue and a better day. I've read horror stories about other venues, but I don't have one negative thing to say about the ILC! I'm sure as more and more people discover this place, the ILC will have a lot more weddings on their hands :) Reviewed on 11-08-2015

Once we toured, I knew we had to get married there! \rThe ceremony was perfect and the wedding coordinator there, Caitlin, was AWESOME! She is very down to earth and really worked with us to make sure our day was great. \rWe had toured several churches and other venues around the city but we were learning that you had to be members at most churches to get married there or they cost over $2000 which was WAY out of our price range! I always wanted to get married in a church and the Landmark Center really has the feel of a nice church. You can even customize your own lighting to match your wedding colors! It's so awesome. \rThere was a parking lot so our guests didn't have to worry about downtown parking hassles and there is also a really cute outdoor courtyard area where my bridal party and I did some pictures (which I can't wait to see, by the way!) There are also these amazing front doors that are HUGE (very traditional) where my now husband and I took photos too. \rThis venue is extremely close to downtown which is awesome for the rehearsal dinner the night before. We did not have our reception at the Landmark Center, but I know it would have been amazing if we did. \rDo NOT overlook this spot just because it may not be as well known as some others.
