International Banquet & Conference Center is a wedding venue in Detroit, MI. This spacious property is purpose-built for events of all sizes. Our wedding reception at the IBCC was amazing! Sophie is the person you work with the most leading up to the wedding and she is an expert in planning your event. On the night of, Derrick runs the show and guides you through the evening and makes sure things run smoothly. Together, they made the planning easy and the night as low stress for us as possible. The food was also amazing and the dessert table was super impressive. Parts of the ballroom can seem a little dated, but all dressed up the room looks great and it’s cool that cocktail hour is on the upstairs balcony portion and dinner and dancing take place below. f you’re looking for a downtown venue for a large crowd, we couldn’t recommend IBCC enough

Our wedding reception at the IBCC was amazing! Sophie is the person you work with the most leading up to the wedding and she is an expert in planning your event. On the night of, Derrick runs the show and guides you through the evening and makes sure things run smoothly. Together, they made the planning easy and the night as low stress for us as possible. The food was also amazing and the dessert table was super impressive. Parts of the ballroom can seem a little dated, but all dressed up the room looks great and it’s cool that cocktail hour is on the upstairs balcony portion and dinner and dancing take place below. f you’re looking for a downtown venue for a large crowd, we couldn’t recommend IBCC enough

The PERFECT wedding venue! You will receive RAVE compliments from all of your guests! Both Sophie and Derrick are amazing at your jobs and put in so much hard work to make sure the day goes smoothly. From all their work before the wedding with answering my emails, helping me feel less anxious, working through any covid-related questions I had, to even calling and asking me if I had a ceremony backdrop the week before just to make sure; they were so helpful. Then, on the day of, with making sure we ran according to plan, organizing 20+ people in the bridal party (including 3 small children), making sure the food was perfection and came out in an efficient amount of time, to finally the beyond delicious dessert table! We could not have asked for a better day! I also want to commend the bartenders and waitstaff for being so friendly and great at their jobs! The only (and very minor) thing I would recommend for future weddings, is to have the couple not advertise the valet parking as the only option. Quite a few of our guests got turned away because they just couldn't handle everyone arriving at once. If I were to do it over again, I would have put a few different options for parking on our invites. But again, so minor and the valet actually associated with the Banquet center, and is instead an added perk of being located inside of The Atheneum Hotel.

If you are looking to have a downtown Detroit wedding, look no further! Our wedding was 4 days after restrictions were lifted, so while my husband and I didn’t quite have a “COVID wedding,” all of the planning leading up it was faced with the craziness of COVID. Sophie and her team made the planning process feel so easy when nothing else was. There wasn't a single moment where we felt COVID stress coming from them. They always made us feel like a top priority and that they were by our side through it all. Beyond their partnership with us, the food was INCREDIBLE, the venue was beautiful, and the staff were all so so nice. It truly was the most perfect night and that wouldn't have been possible without Sophie, Derek, and their team!

If you are looking to have a downtown Detroit wedding, look no further! Perfection in every.single.way. This place is worth every penny. From the lead up to the reception, being able to drop everything off the Monday before our wedding, the responses to ANY question within seconds of asking (through email, phone, text, or anything), the hospitality the night of the wedding, the incredible food that was cooked perfectly and kept warm even when speeches went long, the constant attention all night to make sure we were well taken care of or if we needed anything, the warm and friendly staff (literally every staff member, from the bar tenders, to the servers, to of course Derrick and Sophie who are the most incredible people), to EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. If you are you looking for a place to hold your reception downtown look NO FURTHER. This place is nothing short of perfect. They take all the stress off of wedding planning. We couldn’t be happier with the International Grand Ballroom.

I cannot say enough about the wonderful venue and staff. The beautiful views of Detroit and spacious ballroom are what initially captured our attention. However, after meeting with Sophie and discussing the menus and amazing services offered, we fell in love. Sophie and Derrick were so helpful leading up to the event and always responded to even the smallest questions in a prompt manner. When the reception came, the staff perfectly executed our requests for decor and other items. Furthermore, the food was excellent. Many guests commented on how perfectly cooked the filet was and how flavorful everything was. The staff is so friendly and invested in making your event everything you want it to be. We are so happy we chose the International Ballroom and only wish we could host another event there soon!

This place is a true hidden gem! From the moment we arrived for our wedding weekend, everyone at the Atheneum treated us with utmost kindness, graciousness, and impeccable service. It truly made us feel so special and was the perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend. The staff was available and supportive to not only us, but all of our friends and family all weekend long. Corey, in particular, took amazing care of us and checked in regularly to make sure that we didn't need anything. He also helped us get everything (and there was a lot) from our suite and loaded into our car. The reception was beyond what we could have hoped for! Sophie was there for us every step of the way! She worked with us to accommodate the variety of requests we had and offered prompt responses and willingness to answer any question. She truly took a lot of stress out of this process. Everyone, no matter what their dietary requirements were, sang the praises of the food. We received so much feedback about how it was the best food anyone has had at a wedding, and the dessert bar included in the package was a hit! People loved the cocktail hour and felt there was plenty of space. The whole team at the Ballroom was amazing to our guests!The bar staff was wonderful! No one ever had to struggle to get a drink which is really impressive with a wedding as big as ours was (280). They went the extra mile all night long! The gentleman who helped oversee our event was amazing. He helped us get some amazing rooftop photos, assisted with anything anyone needed all night long, and was with my husband and I until we went to the beautiful complimentary suite at night. He was absolutely amazing. The International Grand Ballroom staff really helped us have the wedding of our dreams, and was worth every bit of investment we made into this day. We cannot thank them enough!

We loved our wedding at the International Grand Ballroom!We knew we were having a big crowd (approx 340 guests), so we wanted a space that would fit our group comfortably. The room managed to feel intimate, even with that many guests. Sophie (manager) was awesome to work with, and I really felt like she wanted me to love my wedding! Derrick (bar manager/reception captain) really looked out for us on the wedding day. We had a last minute crisis with an outside vendor, and Derrick took care of it for us - no questions asked. He managed the reception perfectly, and he came to bring water and drinks for my husband and I all night! Our guests loved the food and the room, and we danced all night! We are so glad we picked the International Banquet Center for our wedding venue. Sophia and the staff were absolute amazing in making sure the bride and groom had everything they needed and the guests had a great time. All of our guest could not stop talking about how beautiful the place was and what a hidden gem it was in the city of Detroit. We held both our ceremony and reception at the venue and having the balcony for cocktail hour was perfect. The food and dessert table was outstanding! We would definitely recommend Sophia, her staff, and the Atheneum Hotel for a wedding location.

Such a beautiful venue in Detroit - right in the MIDDLE of the city with the BEST views. Sophie takes such good care of her brides and grooms before the wedding making sure every detail is taken care of. Derek and Sophie both make sure the wedding night is everything you've ever hoped and dreamed. The food is INCREDIBLE and a large portion - we are still receiving compliments about the food, dessert table and cake. You won't be disappointed having your wedding here!

We had our wedding reception at the Atheneum/International Grand Ballroom and it was better than I could have ever imagined. I had never been to a wedding there before so was nervous about the staff, food, etc but everything turned out PERFECTLY. We received so many compliments from our guests about how phenomenal and fresh the food was and the staff was overly accommodating. Sophie was particularly spectacular at making sure the day ran smoothly and that I was happy. She made the wedding planning process so easy. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone!!!

Sophie, Derrick and Tina coordinated our daughter's wedding and were a pleasure to work with on all levels. This room is one of a kind and provides the best views of the Detroit skyline. We had the opportunity to sit down prior to the wedding for a tasting with the chef and Sophie who presented us with three exceptional choices. Their culinary expertise provided our guests with an exquisite seasonal salad and delicious duo entree that all of our guests enjoyed. The wedding cake, which was also prepared on the premises was simply elegant.One word for the sweet table; Amazing! This staff addressed every detail, from the folded napkins, placement of table numbers , menus and candles, bathroom accessories and more to set the tone of a truly remarkable evening. Having the luxury of staying at the hotel, which provided shuttle service ,valet parking, and walking accessibility to the vibrant Greektown was just an added bonus. No need for bringing in your own wedding coordinator, they do it all! So happy we chose this venue!

I can't say enough how happy I am that we chose the Atheneum for our reception venue. Sophie and her staff were amazing to work with! Sophie was so organized and quick to respond to questions throughout the planning process. When I walked into our reception on the wedding evening I was in awe of how beautiful everything was. We have gotten so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the venue was, how great the food was, and that the service staff was excellent!

I can't say enough how happy I am that we chose the Atheneum for our reception venue. Sophie and her staff were amazing to work with! Sophie was so organized and quick to respond to questions throughout the planning process. When I walked into our reception on the wedding evening I was in awe of how beautiful everything was. We have gotten so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the venue was, how great the food was, and that the service staff was excellent!

This hotel is exceptionally nice and spacious! The location and convenience to the Greektown area and the International Banquet Center is what sold us on having our room block here.\r\rLauren Kloock was our contact and she was very responsive on all of my emails and random questions throughout the process! \r\rAlthough on the expensive side, my guests really enjoyed their stay at the hotel! The hotel also provided free valet for my wedding guests (those who were not staying at the hotel) which was an awesome benefit being downtown with limited parking. \r\rI upgraded my room to have the Senator's suite for the weekend of the wedding and I am so glad I made that decision. It made it super easy for my bridal party to get hair/makeup done the morning of without feeling too crowded. \r\rOverall, we had a great stay and want to thank the team for their service!\r\rOur reception was held on the 8th floor at the International Banquet Center. My husband and I were blown away by how beautiful this venue was! The two story room was perfect for our ~230 guests. It included a cocktail hour on the balcony and the guests watched our first dance from upstairs which made for some awesome pictures! \r\rThere were so many amazing aspects of this venue that it's hard to even list them all! The city views from the venue are incredible, the space is very flexible and open, the food is delicious, the dessert bar was AMAZING (our guests loved it), the rooftop for evening photos was fun and unique and the staff was incredibly responsive and helpful. \r\rAs a bride, you always want to be able to get in contact with your vendors. Sophie was always very responsive - even if it was a late night reply to my email to say she'd get back with me in the morning. Any changes I wanted for the evening she was very accommodating. The venue also provides you a wonderful setting to taste test the food with your fiance and up to 4 additional guests (our parents loved it). \r\rDuring the actual wedding, the staff continued the great customer service! Derrick was there with us the entire night and was absolutely amazing!! He made sure we had everything we needed and helped us take advantage of all the great perks of the venue like the rooftop photos. Emanuel served the bridal party at the captain's table and he did a fantastic job! He was super attentive, quick to get us anything we needed and had such a positive attitude! \r\rOverall, we are so glad we made the choice to have our reception at the IBC. It was on the expensive side compared to a few other venues (but not the most expensive option in Detroit) but it was 110% worth every penny! Thank you to Sophie, Derrick and their team!

Sophie was always very responsive - even if it was a late night reply to my email to say she'd get back with me in the morning. Any changes I wanted for the evening she was very accommodating. The venue also provides you a wonderful setting to taste test the food with your fiance and up to 4 additional guests (our parents loved it). \r\rDuring the actual wedding, the staff continued the great customer service! Derrick was there with us the entire night and was absolutely amazing!! He made sure we had everything we needed and helped us take advantage of all the great perks of the venue like the rooftop photos. Emanuel served the bridal party at the captain's table and he did a fantastic job! He was super attentive, quick to get us anything we needed and had such a positive attitude! \r\rOverall, we are so glad we made the choice to have our reception at the IBC. It was on the expensive side compared to a few other venues (but not the most expensive option in Detroit) but it was 110% worth every penny! Thank you to Sophie, Derrick and their team!

I had my reception here and everything was perfect.. the staff, the food, the venue, the decorations and the whole planning process. The staff really goes the extra mile to make sure every guest is happy and taken care of. Everyone at our wedding said it was the classiest, most breathtaking venue they have ever been to. I would recommend every bride to have their reception here. I'm pretty sure every single woman that attended our wedding now has their eyes set on this gem! Everything was simply fabulous! Thank you for making our wedding night perfect!

For the size of our wedding, we saw a lot of ballrooms. We ultimately picked the International Grand Ballroom because it was the least stuffy. We loved the windows all around and the wrap around balcony. We held both our ceremony and reception there. After the ceremony, the guests went to the upper balcony as the hall was 'flipped' for the reception. We are very happy with our choice. The food was wonderful, and the service from everyone involved was great.

The 360 degree views of Detroit are beautiful and the room definitely had the \"wow factor\" that we were looking for. Our guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers upstairs, looking out on Detroit and over our reception venue. The food was delicious and the staff went out of their way to ensure that our guests were comfortable and enjoying themselves. The packages are endless and I think some of the best around, we found that we got more food, more drinks, more bang for our buck with the International Grand Ballroom. I would recommend them over and over again!
