Islander Hotel & Resort Reviews

We recently had our daughters wedding at The Islander Resort in Emerald Isle. They both wanted a more laid back wedding where they could spend lots of time with their loved ones, and The Islander was the perfect place! We so appreciated the beautiful setting and the accommodating staff. Guests enjoyed the great amenities including the beach, pool, and games on the lawn. Although during summer months the rooms are rather pricey, overall, we feel having the wedding here was a great value for our money and allowed us to plan the wedding of their dreams. However, when planning an event here, I would highly recommend you stay on top of things to ensure follow through on decisions agreed upon. Although we really appreciated the flexibility and willingness to work with us during planning, it was frustrating when decisions already made changed or were forgotten. But in the end, it all worked out and it was truly a wonderful wedding. Reviewed on 23-06-2023
Hannah Kinlaw(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-10-2022 Would give ZERO stars if I could. Carol, the venue coordinator, did not show for our appointment that we set and when I emailed her upon arrival she did not respond and none of the front desk staff had her contact information (red flag #1), However another employee informed me while I was waiting (over an hour!) that she was texting Carol and was telling Carol I was here and waiting and to call me. Carol responded to the employee via text stating she would call me but I never heard from her. Piss poor and unprofessional behavior for a venue that charges $5K+. Would NOT recommend. Waste of a trip considering I was from out of town and drove 2+ hours to view this venue and get a tour. Reviewed on 13-09-2021
Sandi Sanford(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-09-2018 Beautiful location! And my favorite part was probably how well the chaotic parts were handled. When there was miscommunication on contracts and guests and it was a sold out crazy booked holiday weekend in the summer, they still managed to make accommodations for me. No wedding can go 100% as planned but for the 5% that almost went to hell in a hand basket- they were there for me. -One Grateful Bride Reviewed on 20-10-2018
Lauren Scarinzi(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-09-2018 We couldn't have picked a better wedding venue. Emerald Isle has always had a special place in our heart and The Islander was the PERFECT location to spend our special day. Not only is it absolutely beautiful but Carol and the entire Islander staff were always extremely helpful and overall just cared about us and making our day so special. We can't thank them enough. It was perfect! Reviewed on 17-09-2018
Hayley Speight(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-11-2014 This resort has a beautiful backdrop for a gorgeous wedding. Zena was amazing during the process. She responded quickly and had all the advice and answers I needed. Kimi helped the day of to make sure the day went down without a hitch. If you are looking for a location for your friends and family to stay and get married in one place, this is it!! The courtyard is a great place to have all the closest people to you come and enjoy a great time without necessarily getting messy in the sand!! Reviewed on 25-11-2014
Jessica Hairr(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-10-2013 I wanted to have my wedding at the beach, just not ON the beach and the Islander was perfect. The courtyard provided plenty of room to host my ceremony and reception for a wedding of about 140 people. The ocean was the perfect backdrop to our big day. The hotel itself is very nice with very large rooms to accomadate guests and wedding party. Overall we had a great weekend and a fantastic wedding. Reviewed on 06-11-2013
Lauren Carroll(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-09-2012 My wedding was at the Islander and everything was wonderful. The manager was very helpful with the whole process. We did NOT use Chelsea with Bluewater, but did everything ourselves and I couldn't have been happier! Reviewed on 11-10-2012
Kelly McEntee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-04-2012 I had always wanted a wedding at the beach and The Islander was the perfect place. We had our wedding in the sand and our reception indoors in their event room. Everything was perfect. They also provide tables and linens and was fairly inexpensive. Reviewed on 04-06-2012
Becky Skinner(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-04-2011 The location and grounds of The Islander (Emerald Isle, NC) were amazing. It created the best atmosphere and awesome pictures for our perfect day! However, leading up to the actual event the staff was always confused!! They had problems booking rooms for our guests, they got rooms mixed up, and at one point even told us their were 2 weddings going on there on the same day. (Which was not true!!) The also overcharged people from our agreed upon prices. They told guests they were all booked up on lower price rooms in order to get them booked in oceanfront and higher priced rooms; but whenever we called we were told they had plenty of all rooms available. They constantly dropped your call when on hold for them. And perhaps the most frustrating of all was trying to get a response back from their manager or \"event\" planner (which changed during our 7 month engagement!) We look back at our pictures and know we had a PERFECT day but I'm not sure I would recommend this place simply due to all the headaches and panic attacks they caused me in the process by not being able to simply book rooms for my family and guests!
