Walking into this venue we immediately fell in love! Kristin is amazing and will ease your mind with how she coordinates things you literally never know if something went wrong or something is missing she just makes sure it happens! The venue is beautifully designed and the wood work is spectacular you need little decor with the jaw dropping ballroom! The food was tasteful and efficient. The staff is super accommodating and willing to bend over backwards to make sure you get the pictures you desire! Definitely suggest a nighttime wedding for the sunset in the background with the water! Kristin worked with us and our budget to make our dream wedding come true! Highly recommend this venue!

Beautiful setting!! Ceremony was on the water and reception in side. Could not ask for a better place to get married. Kristen the event coordinator made everything so easy. She gives you a list of vendors she loves to work with—I got 3 of them from the list and all of them were perfect and within my budget.

I was honored to DJ (ENCORE Music and Entertainment) a wedding on 8/26/22 and it was my first time at this venue. I was totally impressed! The venue is beautiful, the customer service that I received as a vendor was amazing, and the food was phenomenal. My son was married last weekend at James River Country Club in Newport News, VA . It is a beautiful spot on the James River that is both elegant and inviting. Kristen and the entire staff were very attentive and made sure everyone was so well taken care that they felt like family. We were offered hospitality, friendly and competent servers and the gift of a shared joy. Because we were coming from out of town, Kristen made sure even the centerpieces on the table at the rehearsal dinner were special and exactly what the bride wanted. The entire weekend was so well executed that we did not worry about a thing. The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious (thank you Chef) and the newly remodeled bridal suite included every amenity a bride and her friends needed for the wedding day. Thank you James River Country Club for helping make Erik and Grace's wedding day absolutely perfect!

All I can say about this venue is amazing. Kristin and the staff were better than we could have hoped for. My wife and I visited several places before coming to the James River Country Club and we immediately knew this was the place to hold our ceremony and reception. From the very beginning Kristin was helpful, kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Any time we had a question or concern, she would respond within just a couple of hours. Kristin and James River Country club made our wedding and reception better than we could have imagined. The service we were provided was impeccable...but the food was even better. As my wife and I were visiting each table during the reception, there wasn't a single plate that had any food left! We were complimented so much about the ceremony and the reception and we have James River Country Club to thank for that. Amazing food and venue and an even better staff!

My husband and I had our wedding at James River on 10/30/21 and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to have our wedding! We worked directly with Kristin who is the Director of Catering and Special Events at JRCC. She is AMAZING! We began planning our wedding with Kristin back in summer of 2019 and due to covid we rescheduled 3 times. Each time we rescheduled we worked directly with Kristin who was very flexible and accommodating to us about setting a new date. She even reached out to all of our vendors for us to compare dates to make sure everyone was available. She handled everything which took all the stress away, especially during covid. She made sure that we would have our dream day which we did! Kristin met up with me on multiple occasions to go over wedding plans and we were able to drop all of our things off for the ceremony ahead of time. The day of our ceremony we had the entire place to ourselves all day. The girls bridal suite is beautiful!! While the girls got ready, the guys golfed. The guys also had their own section to get ready after golfing. Everything for the ceremony and reception was set up perfectly!! Kristin and her team took everything into there own hands and made the entire day stress free. We had a large wedding with almost 160 people and they were so quick and accommodating to all of our guests needs. We also had our rehearsal dinner the night before at JRCC as well with almost 50 people. Everyone raved about how good the food was and how nice/smooth everything ran for both the rehearsal and wedding. We truly couldn’t have asked for a nicer place and better day to have our wedding without the help and support of Kristin and her team!! Thank you so much!! I would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful venue to anyone for their wedding or any upcoming events!

We recently had our wedding at the JRCC this past weekend on September 25, 2021. We booked with this venue last year, as we originally planned to have our wedding on May 1, 2021. We worked directly with Kristin, the wedding coordinator at JRCC. From the very beginning of our planning process, she took matters into her own hands while ensuring that this would be a smooth and enjoyable process. She worked with us on the financial aspect the entire time to ensure it was WELL within our budget. This venue was more than manageable when it came to expenses. She was so helpful along the way, I cannot even begin to explain how appreciative we were of her services. She really made the entire planning process enjoyable. It was not a problem at all when we had to postpone our wedding date. She helped us with so much when it comes to the ceremony details, menu and bar details, and reception details. She allowed for us to make any changes necessary without making us ever feel like we were a hassle or inconvenient. Adding/removing anything from our proposal never felt like an issue. We could easily add more bars, bartenders, decor, bar items, food items, adjust the reception end time etc. without a problem. She suggested we have our rehearsal dinner at the venue the night before the wedding, which we did. She also took the planning for that into her own hands. We had the rehearsal right before the rehearsal dinner. We had almost 30 people attend the rehearsal dinner and the food, drinks and service were still so quick and wonderful. We selected menu and bar items, and she handled the rest. The dinner setup outside by the tiki bar was spectacular. The following day, we held our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception there. The ceremony setup was beautiful. They provided us with golf carts to take around the venue with the photographers for formal portraits with the families and wedding party. The inside of the ballroom for our reception was decorated beautifully. She allowed for us to bring stuff for our wedding days before the event. She allowed for us to really do whatever we needed to do in order to make this easier on us. Everything was set up perfectly the day of. Days before the wedding, the ONLY reason why I started to feel stressed out, was because I WASN'T stressed out. I felt I was missing something incredibly important. But it was all because I picked out the minor details with Kristin, and she did the rest. They provided us with linens. I bought table runners, table numbers and a flower vine for the arch off of amazon and brought in the centerpieces, and the rest was taken care of. We couldn't have been more pleased with the turnout of events. She really did make the planning process feel easy and enjoyable. I was not stressed in the slightest because of how flexible they were at this venue, and how helpful Kristin was. The food was delicious. The drinks were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. It truly made such a difference to have everything run so smoothly and not have to worry about a single thing. More importantly, our family and friends were blown away by the venue itself, and mentioned several times how nice, fun and laid back the staff was.I would highly suggest this venue for any type of event. If anyone is interested, I would be more than happy to provide further details, so that you too, can also have a smooth, EASY and enjoyable planning process!!

We had the pleasure of having our daughter's wedding reception at the Country Club back in October of 2020. The entire process, from the initial planning to the sparkler send off, was absolutely phenomenal! We had very specific requests for the table settings and overall decorations and Kristen and her staff made our visions come to life! The setting, both inside and out, was absolutely stunning. We had both appetizers as well as a sit down dinner. The food was wonderful! I have one more daughter and I hope that she will use the James River Country Club as well when her time comes. I cannot speak highly enough of Kristen and her staff!

We had my son’s wedding at the James River Country Club in April 2021 during COVID but everything was PERFECT! Kristen went over and above to make sure every was taken care of. We also had the rehearsal dinner there the night before. It was so nice to have everything at one place. We used the Golf Museum for the rehearsal dinner and cocktail hour. Food was fabulous and the servers were so helpful. The servers even joined us on the dance floor! The meticulously cared for grounds were a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos. The Get ready rooms were convenient and the Bridal room was absolutely beautiful! We also had my daughter’s bridal shower there in June 2020- also during Covid and staff was very careful with service and social distancing ! Thanks to the entire staff for making my son and daughter in-law’s wedding day very special !!!
